for riptide au what would an actually comfortable bed/perch/sleeping situation in general look like for cloud + co?? i imagine dealing with big ol wings while trying to sleep doesn’t make it easy even if you Do have enough space

So the hard thing for them is they are a combination of 2 body plans that don't get along super well. So lets go through our options first.

Cloud can't lay on his back. At all. Flat surfaces would put a lot of pressure on the shoulders of his wings. So that's off limits.

Laying belly down doesn't hurt his wings, but does hurt his sternum, arms and legs. At the moment, with the hammock, his chest is mostly face down while his legs are twisted to the sides in order to mitigate discomfort. Even though this kills his hips.

A very soft mattress(the ones you practically sink into) would be tolerable, and would help take a lot of the strain off of the aforementioned problem areas. But still has the issue of not enough wing space, they'd end up hanging off the edges and the lack of support would cause pain over time. Unless you had a REALLY big mattress. Like those Alaska king ones or something.

Some people have mentioned perches, that may work for Zack, a raven, but Cloud is a tern, and terns are ground nesters. His talons aren't built for grabbing branches.

Ideally, he'd have to sleep in an almost upright position(leaning on something, like a piece of furniture or a VERY stiff pillow) with his legs folded. Something like this:

And a big part of the issue is. He just isn't familiar with his body! All those habits from living as a human are still there and they don't mesh well with his new body. And he can't rest exactly like his bird counter either, cause his human part changes how his body works. Very top heavy, lacks the counter balance birds usually have(just because of where his legs land in relation to the rest of his body).

He'll figure it out.

Jonathan hasn't called. It's been seven days and he hasn't called once. He's not at school, she hasn't spotted his car in town and when she tried calling him the phone rang endlessly. Last week he was going to kiss her and now he's a ghost.  Steve wants to talk. Steve wants to talk about everything. Well everything that isn't important. She could care less about his basketball games or Tommy and Carol or worst of all his history test. Nancy doesn't give a single fuck about Steve's history test.

i think reader has tried to move on but feels like he’s the “one that got away” and no one’s really felt the same? and reader is wondering if “god, am i doomed to just want a whirlwind romantic night of debauchery lol?? is this my life now?”

and time goes by and reader focuses on work, friends, adventure maybe? and ends up on yet another work trip in some glamorous part of the world and the weather is TERRIBLE

and reader is sipping wine at the bar downstairs and a bit glum from not being able to go explore bc it’s truly horrendous out and the flights been cancelled and UGH travel stress.

and suddenlyyyy he’s at the front desk and it’s up to reader to make a move or shuffle off back to the hotel room, take the risk for another night or try to keep up with moving on
