Disassembly Drone Body Language part 2, this time with more color and more Nuzi

sorry for the confusing circle graphic but i hope it gets my point across

theyre so cute all my bones are rotting. like. im so normal, about them. not even funny i am being corroded

some extras that i didnt know what to draw for them / didnt have space:

N will sometimes lay on uncomfortable terrain and Uzi lays on top of him so she’s comfy

when they hang upside down, their tails are still curled around each other. Uzi’s wings are wrapped around N, and N’s are wrapped around Uzi. N’s are on the outside so they form a more defensive cocoon to protect her, since she’s smaller and her wings are made of flesh and can’t use them to block attacks

^ speaking of, N is able to use his wings as a shield, which is something that’s actually shown in the show! (think “quit saving me!” in episode 3 and him guarding her from the explosion at the end of episode 2) He’s able to block stuff like bullets and whatnot, which leads him to covering others with his wings to protect them. That only applies to the solid metal bladed feathers on his wings, the “arms” are as vulnerable as the rest of his body, since they’re not solid. They have actual mechanics in them, both for the arms and the blades of the wings in there. They just move the blades around because theyre just solid shapes.

They breath / smell with their mouth, and both DD and WD can inhale air to cool down their internal systems. They don’t need to breathe but they will, especially when stressed. This is more of a widespread robot thing but I felt I should mention it.

(also no sadly N cant actually helicopter with his tail. its too thin and he needs more tails to do that)

Toon Zelda redesigns! I've never been fond of the Toon Zelda design, and these girls deserve some individuality. Design notes and rambles below the cut :D

(time to turn the proper grammar off i aint capitalizing all this. warning: i am verbose)

first up, tmc zelda!

shes the one most like toon zelda, since i felt like the vibes fit the *most* (though not a lot). also, with her place on the timeline, i could justify a lot of bits, like the wings and the cape

the cape! obvs it comes from the toon zelda base design, but also it involves skyloftian fashion! i take the timeline as a challenge, and i once saw a take somewhere that the skyloftians all wear their family crests (most often birds lol) on their person. zelda here (and link too) do just that, wearing their family crests on little caplets. on the back is, of course the royal crest

i went very cutesy princess for her. tmc has such a *whimsical* vibe that i feel is very. muted? by the fact its stuck with the toon style. so i wanted to put in that vibe here. also her sprites make it look like her skirt is super poofy, so how could i not?

curly hair: i wanted something interesting, and most zeldas have straight hair. so! adds to the cuteness

i didnt draw it so well but she (and link) both have very sleepy expressions. zelda especially just has a sleepy expression in her sprite, its quite adorable.

shes not as decked out as other princesses, cuz i see tmc taking place before the royal family really starts to get *royal* as we see it. shes still of course got a tiara and some embroidery tho.

Tetra! her base design isnt all that changed from the original. her name is a fun hc of mine tho. i think "von Hyrule" sounds better as a surname than just "hyrule". shes not zelda, but shes still a descendant.

(WW) princess z (as i call her)

I went more oot zelda vibes for her, since she would be closer, temporally, to oot. i also went very warm, since ive never seen the flood as a *warm* endeavor.

shes got the shoulder danglies, as most zeldas have shoulder armor of some kind. the danglies instead of actual armor are supposed to kind of evoke a royal sea captain kind of vibe.

shes ghostly, with a fish-eyed stare. shes been dead and gone for a long time. shes also a bit taller and a few years older than tetra (as of ww). shes just some spectre the king saw in tetra, not at all a close match

tetra, being smaller than princess z, doesnt fit into the clothes. the dress is too big for her (as is in canon gd that skirt is WAY too long for her), the coat is baggy. the role of a princess *literally* does not fit her.

the ribbons! theyre my replacement for the wings, and they represent the wind in the game! since its represented by white lines, the ribbons are a perfect symbolic match. (also, a note, tetras hair is shorter and coarser than princess z's)

i mostly bullshitted the blue panel but the vague idea i gave it was 'a hope for the triforce to give good fortunes to the people' (pictured as dots, mostly behind her arms)

Pirate Queen Tetra

ph! about a year has passed, and tetra has really grown into her own! as well as literally grown!

shes still tetra, pirate and captain, but shes incorporated that royal heritage into her identity: quite literally! she made piecemeal of the original outfit (what was left of it anyway after the fight), and added bits and pieces to her new life.

she also takes full advantage of said heritage to call herself pirate queen. its great for branding. whos gonna say she CANT go by pirate queen?

the seagull feather is from Aryll. only crew member tetra wears a trinket from (who can say no to that ball of sunshine! certainly not tetra)

not many notes. yall can see whats there. (also she still wears her hair in a bun, its just in a low bun (you can almost see it) when she wears her hat)

st zelda!

first note is: shes not a princess! shes an heiress of the company tetra had made and left behind. hence her title of Lady zelda. ("new hyrule" rly just like-- the ending of ww was *literally* that hyrule is dead and thats okay. how did they miss that :sob emoji:) also calling her Lady Zelda fits with the train vibes

shes in a 1880s style bustle dress because 1) i am OBSESSED with bustle dresses. i love them. so much. 2) the more historical vibe works really well with trains! also a lot of the other outfits in the game have late victorian vibes, so shes certainly not out of place.

her hat (and gloves): any proper lady has a hat on when going about town, however, when she gets body snatched, she pulled out her hatpin to use (ineffectively) as a weapon (she IS tetras great-great-granddaughter), causing her to lose her hat *and* hairdo.

shes still got the hatpin in her ghost form, too. she uses it to threaten people for funsies

Ribbons! on the topic of hairdo, her ribbons! visually tying her to tetras design, the ribbons here instead take on the image of train tracks, with her pin (on the left side) evoking a train engine. the pin also makes her look rich and girly. when her hair comes undone, this makes the ribbons all loose, like how the train tracks disappear in game. (the hat also kinda connects her to tetra)

bevause while i do love more "professional"/"polished"? """skilled"""?? dexes, being a fan of character/creature design and how people interpret the design philosophy of pokemon to emulate it in their own work accurately, i also sincerely love the ones that're like... God i wish words were easy. amateur is as close as i can think, stuff thats rough as young/new artists try to fit a design into a very small space while trying to keep it readable, and also not really being concerned with what a 'real pokemon' would look like, making these collections of bizarre sometimes messy or overly detailed creatures. but also back to that 'real pokemon' thing is that these ARE pokemon to them, why should they look or be designed a certain way? what establishes what a real pokemon looks like? the design style changes with practically every generation anyway.

some of my favorites are ones working within early limitations, namely gen 3 sprite sizes and palettes. its why i love topaz and quartz so much, just looking into these styles and extrapolating what kind of thought goes into them, how they use the colors theyre limited to, what they think of pokemon as creatures in the first place

What if Red is visiting her mother and has a good time with her over the weekend Baking and having long talks they even talk about Chloe her Girlfriend and everything it took some time to adjust to her new mum but now they are like besties and eating Flamingo feather cupcakes and when they try them Reds hair gets completely Pink and they are laughing about it but after 2 days its still not gone and Red beginns to panic because shes going back to Auradon prep and she for the love of ... is not going to show up with pink hair but they try everything even dyeing her hair back to red but it turns pink again everytime so she goes back to Auradon prep with pink hair and is the first to arive in her and her Girlfriends Dorm room and when Chloe arives in the evening she sees a random Person with pink hair sitting in theyre room at Reds table and she sneaks up to them and holds an knive against their neck and asks dangerously who the f this is when they speak Chloe jumps back saying omg Red wtf why is youre hair pink i thought you were someone else and Red just turns blushing because the knive thing was hot and because its embarrassing that her hair is pink and sayes suprise akwardly and after some seconds Chloe is laughing like a mad women and says its cute.

It turns out her mum did something wrong in the recipe what turns out to let the efects of the feathers hold longer.

And after 2 painful months Reds hair turns back to red and Chloe tells Red she looked realy cute with pink hair but her threatening red haired girlfriend was better and hoter.

Lucifer: The Peacock

- I think his wings should have eyes in them like its such a missed opportunity for a reference to his animal counterpart (peacock), a reference to biblical angels and a reference to the fact that he always somehow knows what everyone’s up to and what their ulterior motives are. Ik he has a few on his outfit but it just doesn’t give that otherworldly creature dread feeling you should get when looking at a demon (Not to go on a tangent but when I see a hot demon character I want to be afraid of them but then go “wait why is this hot”)

- Also while he technically has 4 wings, I think that when he flares out his wings they should expand in such a way that makes it appear like he has more

- I imagine his wings stretch out and look bigger whenever he feels proud of and satisfied with himself— esp when he’s around you; its cute tbh but he also does it when hes super pissed; are you gonna take that chance? 🤔

- Imagine if the little diamond on his forehead was a closed eye and every now and again it opens especially when he feels as if his pride is threatened or when he’s generally angry. Personally I think that would be sick af

- I KNOW THE MARKINGS ARE JUST LIKE BIRTHMARKS BUT IMAGINE THEY FEEL DIFFERENT FROM THE NORMAL SKIN like Lucifer’s markings could be feathers covering his jaw and below (see: Howl Pendragon bird form, kinda) and they feel like real feathers too

- I think we all agree that whenever he feels protective of you he’d wrap his wings around you and shield you from anyone’s view but his own

- Keeps a feather on you (probably gives it to you as a gift) so he can keep an eye on you at all times (This is not a pun; imo he can see through the eyes on his wings when he closes his main eyes and opens his third)

- Pact mark spans from the nape of your neck to about 1/3 your spine (pretty big but not humongous) and is in the shape of a peacock feather but when his powers/benefits are used the barbs of the feather move in a way similar to fire and the eye in the center opens (it kinda tickles and/or sends a chill down your spine)

- Pact mark allows him to locate you in pretty much any place without an uber powerful magic barrier or like interference (Which I think would make sense considering he always knows what’s up + he DID say making a pact with him entails you are his and he is yours [since you can summon him wnv I think and command him to do stuff])

- Something he already does but I just noticed lines up with peacocks is tilting his head when he’s sick of everyone’s shit

- OH MY GODDDDD HIS WINGS DRAPE DOWN LIKE PEACOCK TAIL FEATHERS. HE HAS LONG WINGS. LOOK AT THIS AND TELL ME THAT SHIT WOULDN’T BE MAJESTIC AS HELL ON HIM

Mammon: The Corvid

- I think his wings are nicely placed but I would make them curl/angle upwards more to more resemble bird wings (Ik Lucifer is the bird wing guy but hes a bird too 😞😞) kinda like this

- I think that while the bones are exposed on his wings, on the back of the wings there should be patches of feathers showing he lost them in his fall from grace aaaa 😫😫😫

- I know the demons have either wings or tails but like. Entertain this thought: Mammon with cute lil tail feathers 😭😭 mammon with a bird tail would just fit so well im sorry

- He subconsciously lowers/bows his head while talking to people he respects and admires (like you and Lucifer) like laying his head down on his arm or desk or sth

- Collects stuff that looks interesting— stuff he thinks he can probably use or fix up and sell. Pretty much proven but I feel I should emphasize how bad it gets, like he needs to clean his room at least weekly or his room will be full of junk 😭 (he js like me fr)

- Great at impressions; I THINK this was included in the story at one point (?) but idk so I will mention it here. Give him a voice and he can mimic it pretty well (Brothers would def use this to their advantage for silly little schemes if mammon weren’t charging an arm and a leg for his services gn)

- Will engage in anything he finds interesting and stimulating; the reason he sucks ass in school isn’t really because hes dumb but he has a hard time focusing on shit that isnt stimulating (that’s kinda how it is for most people but like especially for him, he indulges heavily into freedom/temptation; usually won’t do anything he doesn’t want to)

- Blinged OUT. More rings, a gold necklace thing (those thick round ones), more ear piercings and i like the drawing someone did with his fangs being gold however ntm as the absence of such things also shows his balance between his heavenly virtue and deadly sin (Charity vs Greed) and how despite his sin he really can be a modest guy

- Markings should cover his face and be little portals that let him summon grabby hands and sometimes he gets you stuff and sends it through the portal on your body (your pact mark)

- Speaking of pact marks, I think his is on your heart or right above and is like a dripping fingerprint that turns into a full blown hand print (maybe even the monkey’s paw?) when his powers/benefits are being used; Its hard to describe the feeling but when his hand goes through it feels like you’re gagged right then and there and its a little bit hard to breathe when you first made the pact because its a little uncomfortable but as you got used to the sensation and nurtured your magic ability, your breathing went back to normal

- I promised myself I wasn’t gonna get into outfits too much because they’re. Um anyway all I’ll say is he should have some slutty bellbottoms in his demon form idgaf

Leviathan: The Serpent

- He should have poisonous spines on his tail that lie dormant but flare up whenever he feels strong emotion (embarrassment, anger, jealousy etc) and in relation to that he should have a few scales visible on his neck but more should appear leading up his face to his eye when he feels these strong emotions like his skin hardens and turns to scales (almost like how our veins bulge when we humans get very angry) it would be cool af ngl and kinda fits how his voice changes when hes annoyed (I SWEAR it gets all deep and like gravelly ig)

- ALSO i mentioned in another post but his eyes should become super snake-like (pupils slimming down) when he gets angry/envious but adding onto that, his pupils should dilate like a cat when he feels a positive emotion like excitement (though I think his pupils would dilate when looking at you lovingly, if you flustered him his pupils would constrict, not because its negative, but because he doesn’t know how to handle it)

- Grows much taller in his demon form imo since sea serpents are big as hell (he doesn’t become a giant or anything but he does grow like a foot or so which. He might as well be a giant bc hes alr pretty tall) Honestly I think all demons grow in their demon forms but he just grows an exceptional amount compared to any other demon

- Two…. Nvm iykyk fr a certified hood classic and i dont see enough of it in fics 😒

- Often accidentally sticks out his tongue while angry and bites his tongue and it just ruins the mood as well as any fear anyone had of him bye. Hes so goofy i just love him

- Long ahh tongue; snake reminiscent

- The back of his slut zip jacket should be vaguely shaped like fins + would it be wrong to say he should have slutty bellbottoms too? Can’t I dream? 💭 not as wide as Mammon’s though he’s not doing it like him fr

- Wraps his tail around you as if trying to shield you from public view with his spines whenever he gets jealous or protective

- I think it would be cool if the design on his jacket was a fishbone or if his tail was a bit translucent and showed bones inside (Ik tails don’t have bones generally but bear with me here) as a reference to how the Leviathan became a meal after being defeated

- Subconsciously moves slowly and methodically like the way he leans his head in slowly as you talk is very snake of him

- Big yawn (can open his mouth really wide)

- Pact mark is on the side of your neck, a bit closer to the front though and is shaped like a scale initially but grows into a very large patch of black scales with a purple underside, covering everything in the area almost like a bad rash when you use his powers/benefits

- Activation feels as if you’re being suffocated slowly, like water is slowly entering your lungs as the “rash” spreads at first but, again, as you get used to it this sensation wears off but a feeling that won’t ever wear off when activating the pact mark is the feeling that Levi is there looming by your side through the mark but just out of view whenever you try to see him; it’s a little maddening

- Can find you with sth similar to echolocation and it’s especially effective in water; can also spread the scales further with enough willpower and/or jealousy, basically creating a shield for your body

Could you give us a fun fact about Archimedes or any of your other doves (or maybe just doves in general)? I love how you draw them btw, they're so squishy and cute!!!

oh, i can give you quite a lot! but i will restrain myself so the post doesnt get too long..

for my birds, you may be curious to know that while archimedes is bonded to me, most of the other birds have their own bonds with each other. they are all my flock of course but its interesting to see how they form their own little pairs and so. you may also be interested to know each of my doves have fairly distinct personalities and treat preferences. archimedes specifically has an affinity for cranberries and for taking seeds from my trail mixes.

as for pigeons in general, anytime i get the chance i like to share how intelligent they are (just as an example, theyre one of the few species of birds that can pass the mirror test, and they have the ability to recognize faces and remember somewhat complex routes and tasks!) and how they are much cleaner than people seem to think they are (they are naturally fairly dusty birds but they value regularly washing and preening their feathers anytime they get the chance) :]

and.. well, originally i wanted to draw something more for this ask but unfortunately i havent had so much time lately, so enjoy this small archimedes doodle instead

When I was a kid my dad worked in Scotland and we would visit him in the holidays and I developed an obsession with highland cows, I had teddies and clothes and homeware - if it had a highland cow on it I had to have it. Which was a lot of things, considering I was in Scotland. A lot of strange things for a 10 year old too (I had a feather duster that was a highland cow!) And anyway today I saw your Skyrim cow post and it's very cute 10/10 :)

Designing Rivulet:

Oh dear void Ruffles why must your official art be so inconsistent. They draw your gills different every time, and your anatomy is so much more detailed than how the slugcats in the original game look. I decided to base Riv in this art more off the og slugcats than their downpour art. For their gills, sometimes theyre drawn more feather-like or more gill-like. I went with the more gill-like shape. Rivulet's eyes are also one of my favorite things about their design. Theyre so LARGE and they stand out a lot, especially in the dark structure of the Rot.

Designing The Rot:

I heavily referenced the official game art for the background. I love the aesthetic of The Rot so much, the dark blue tendrils with the moody red lighting, its such fun to try to capture that dying superstructure atmosphere. In my drawing I wanted to convey how navigating the Rot as a player feels. the room is long and dark, and you cant tell how long it is. The only path ahead is surrounded by Rot cysts. One wrong step and its over. And among it all is a small blue overseer in the distance, telling you which direction to go. Then theres Rivulet, a small creature navigating a vast world

Designing Submerged Superstructure:

Again, referenced official art. Except there was also some unused art for Submerged Superstructure, so i added that to my references as well. The colors in it are wonderful, I love how the bright green looks with the dark red, and then Rivulet being blue lets them pop out a lot more. The yellow glow weed also adds a bit of a nice touch. I wanted this drawing to convey the feeling of Rivulet plunging into the depths of a superstructure taken over by water and nature. They swim further down into the green nothingness, with only a few broken buildings left. The bubbles were also added to help communicate that this is an underwater scene.

Additional thoughts:

-man i should draw backgrounds more theyre actually pretty cool once you have a solid idea in mind

-please watcher dlc if you change the slugcat anatomy one more time i will literally drink water

-slugcats are so shaped i dunno how else to say it they are just a blob with limbs and ears and i love them for it

i'm a chronic furry so i turned the isat gang into birds. the earrings are clipped onto the feathers. the hair is a wig. why? uh. uh. uh. good question. also i forgot siffrin's little eyepatch

mirabelle- canada goose!!!! heavily migratory (as befits the change belief) waterbirds (water is constantly shifting and changing by the seasons)!!! theyre cute!!! theyre pretty!!! theyre fierce when the situation calls for it!!! also idk i feel like the colors just fit for her!!

siffrin: catlike, cute, nocturnal, and undeniably sharp- the barn owl!!! i couldnt NOT make siffrin a nocturnal species with their whole cultural thing being around the stars!! also, owls historically have had a bunch of symbolism placed around them being symbols of death, with some cultures also having them be symbols of victory in battle!!!

isabeau: cockatoo!!!! theyre like if a cockatiel (smallish, kind of wimpy) pokemon-evolved!!! theyve got the big ostentatious head feathers!!! big tough nut-cracking beak!!! heavy duty parrot!! while also being incredibly smart and stylish!!!

odile: great blue heron!!! undeniably graceful and wise looking, yet sharp!!! impressive plumage, but in a more understated way!! truly the embodiment of modern dinosaurs!!

bonnie: zebra finch!!! little but loud!!! big colorful beak and cheek patches!! not as robust as the cockatoo or the goose, but no less enthusiastic!!!

First kisses (ff14boissss)

Thancred is quite used to trusting his instincts and acting before he fully finishes a thought. His hands and body move faster than his brain, grabbing at your shoulders, spinning you around, pressing you against the rough stonework. His lips slot against yours like theyre meant to fit together, that nearly-chapped texture, the slight indent beneath your tongue, as though there is a scar across his mouth you never noticed until this very moment. The slight intake of breath as a takes a half step towards you, brings your bodies flush together, one hand curled around your neck, his other arm braced against the stonework beside your head.

The sounds of clanking greaves passes. Thancred lingers, your noses brushing, his half-lidded gaze taking in the blush high on your cheeks. Just to be sure the danger has passed, he tells himself as he forces himself to pull away.

Certainly not because he never wants this moment to end.

Urianger is as meticulous in this as he is in all things. He made reservations at the Last Stand. He memorized the route he was going to take you through the Noumenon. He had an tall, gnarled, private oak tree all picked out.

What he didn't account for was the way a storm predicted to pass just south of the island would be suddenly, violently caught by a high wind and blown over the city. The two of you rush for the cover of a nearby pavilion, your coats thrown up over your heads to protect yourselves from the worst of the sudden downpour. Or, at least, to try to-- Urianger ends up looking like a wet rat, and you not much better. But the sight has you doubled-over laughing, and, not soon after, him as well.

Your first kiss is there, under that random pavilion in the Sharlyan harbor, tasting of rainwater and serendipitous joy.

G'raha wakes slowly in the unyielding cradle of the throne in the Crystal Tower. His body feels... odd. Logically, he knows that he has been asleep for a very long time. His muscles should feel stiff, his eyes crusty. But the preservation of the Crystal Tower is complete-- his neck doesn't even crack as his head rolls.

And then the memories hit him.

He flings himself from his throne, colliding with your at-speed and taking you both down onto the unforgiving crystal floor. The soul vessel cracks with a clear tone. His arms cradle your head, but his knees crack against the floor, but he doesn't care. He's alive. You're alive. You're both alive.

His first kiss misses your mouth by a malm, but on his second you grab him by his braid to guide him better. You're both crying, gasping against each others mouths, but you're alive.

Estinien tries not to feel nervous as you invite him into your room. The two of you. Havent really gotten to talk. After ghimlyt dark, and then you were swept away to The First, and now the world is falling apart again, and. It really does feel like now or never. If he is going to fall at the end of the universe, he wants to do so with no regrets.

Your back hits the door as it closes, and estinien looms over you, his hair tickling your cheek where it comes to rest feather-light against your skin. His eyes are blown wide, and his thumb brushes oh-so-softly against your lower lip.

"If you dont want this," Estinien growls, "then just say the word, and I will cease at once."

But your arms come up around his neck, and you never do.

Aymeric is getting sick and tired of being interrupted during his carefully-planned dates with you. Dragons, primals, assassination attempts, cats. He's trying to be a proper Ishgardian gentleman about this, but there is only so much a man can take.

Today you're wandering the Jeweled Crozier together, ohhing and ahhing at the new leatherwork on display and the new selection of fabrics for the season and even the new selection of lances from the Skysteel. It's a rare sunny day, and it can almost be called warm, and, just as Aymeric is about to slide his hand into yours, your linkpearl rings.

Something or another pulling you away from him again, you try to explain apologetically, though Aymeric doesn't let you get more than a few words out before he is leaning forward and kissing you, gently and soft.

"Come home soon," he says with a smile, and it's a good thing it's nothing urgent because you definitely spend five whole minutes just composing yourself.

Haurchefant tries not to appear impatient as he works through the last bits of paperwork for the day. It's so late it's nearly early again, and you're still not back from patrol. You're competent. More than competent. He doesn't need to worry about you, but. he does anyways.

And he breathes a sigh of relief when you try to slip soundlessly through the door, the crunching of snow caked to your cloak and armor giving you away. He doesn't bother trying not to look eager as he jumps from his seat. The two of you argue, as you shrug your armor in front of the fire and he fixes you a cup of steaming hot cocoa. Youre beautiful and passionate and infuriatingly stubborn when you choose to dig you heels in, and he nearly spills your drink all over your front as he shuts you up with his mouth.

"Dont worry me like that again," he pleads, and you can make no promises for the way he kisses you again.

Sidurgu stares at the empty space where Fray once been and just. Breathes. He expected. Something. Some kind of feeling to twist his chest. Guilt, maybe, or grief, or. something. But Fray and Myste had stood together and smiled as they were swallowed again by the Abyss, tucked again into your soul, and he feels...

relief that you are alive. Happy, to have seen them again, but also to have this whole situation behind him. And when you turn to him, blood spattered on your face and your hair all flyaway and he loves you.

It's easy to drop his blade. To step away from the violence and cradle your face gently in his hands. Less easy to pause there, staring into your eyes, waiting, because he wants this, but, more than that, he wants you to want this. And he feels joy, when your lips meet his. He feels whole.

"Ewwwwwwww," Rielle whines and makes a fake gagging noise, and you and Sidurgu both feel nothing but fond irritation.

BONUS

Magnai can't get the image of you out of his mind-- standing in the light of the ovoo, resplendent and beautiful, Khagan of the Steppe. It haunts him as he celebrates with the rest of the Oronir, drinking far too much fermented mare's milk to try to chase it away.

It doesn't work. Especially not when you're right there, laughing as Hien shakes your shoulder and retells the events of the day, how you turned from the ovoo immediately into scything down Imperials like you hadn't already been fighting all day, and you're impossible, you're--

looking up at Magnai with big, startled eyes as he leans down and plants a kiss on your lips. It's sloppy, and he tastes of fermented mare's milk, and the whole of the Oronir and the Buduga and your friends are jeering and cheering, but neither of you pull away until you're out of breath.

Artoirel is only partially drunk when it happens. It's late, just the two of you and the last two glasses of a full bottle of wine, the fireplace long burned low into smouldering embers, the barely-there orange glow casting your laughing face in beautiful, dramatic shadows. The way your nose scrunches up and you half-hide your mouth behind you hand and it strikes him, then, just how close you two are sitting, your thighs brushing beneath the table, your head knocking against his shoulder as you collapse into helpless giggles.

It's the most natural thing in the world for him to cup your cheek in his palm and tilt your face up towards his. To take in the way your eyes go half-lidded and your mouth parts around the whisper of his name. Your whole body strains towards him as he leans down the last few ilms and lets his mouth meet yours.

Forget whatever preconceptions you even held about this man: there is nothing gentlemanly about the way he kisses.
