General info: as far as I'm concerned, all of my fic ideas posted here are up for grabs.
Most of them, I'm never going to get around to writing, unfortunately, because I don't have the time, and even if I do write some out, I'm not going to object to someone else giving their own take. I very much subscribe to the "HOLY SHIT, TWO CAKES!" philosophy for fandom: more treats in more flavors is good.
Guidelines (as far as I can set conditions when I can't actually stop anyone): 1) If you get around to posting anything for this fic idea, I would appreciate being informed when you do. I may lose the notification because my brain is soup when I'm tired, so you can always message me again asking for a signal boost or something. I won't promise to read any fanfiction, because I may still be working on my own thing, but I still like being told.
2) I would also appreciate a shout-out, like an acknowledgement in the author's notes, for the inspiration, especially for very specific ideas with many details that get used. If you're going as far as to use dialogue that I wrote, then I would prefer a link to the original post / fic as well as a shout-out.
3) If I do decide to write out the fic idea someday, you have to be cool with there being two takes on it. We're not competing. No two people are going to have the same interpretation of a premise, which is great, when different fans are looking for different things. I'll probably be happy to link our works together. And if I am inspired by your work directly, if I do read it, then I will credit you for it, of course.
I am also fine with it if people write fanfiction of my fanfiction. If you write fanfiction of my fanfiction and say, "This fic sucked, I made it better," then it will hurt my feelings and I will probably block you, but I'm still not going to, like, ever try to set my followers on anyone. If you write out my fic ideas and you make any characterization or plot choices that are not to my taste, then I am going to go, "Oh, well, I hope they're having fun," and then get on with my day. If I somehow find out that you wrote my fic idea or fanfic for my fanfic and never told me about it, then I'm probably going to go, "Fair enough, I also generally prefer that authors do not acknowledge my existence," and it will not be a big deal.
So, go for it! Someone might as well try writing it and have fun with it, if I'm not going to, and also even if I do. ❤️

A list of things that bother me about Dragon Age: The Veilguard:
!Beware of spoilers if you want to go into this game blind!
Word of advice: I truly think that it is better however to play this game fully informed or else you are in for a big shock.
The dialogue feels artificial.
What do I mean by that? From what I have observed the dialogue between Rook and the companions is unnatural. This expresses itself in lack of emotional expression or too much of the same in an unfitting situation. But for the most part it's the first resulting in the companions never being truly mad at Rook nor expressing such feelings towards them whatsoever. Instrad the dialogue seems to function like a simplified explanation of things and events around you to make sure you understand properly and don't get fancy ideas like interpreting a situation through your own personal lense and take away an understanding the devs did not explicitely want you to have.
The game has strange priorities in terms of exposition.
The game has companions and NPCs either state the obvious in a slow and clear pronounciation or doesn't give necessary background info at all.
For instance it has the Veiljumpers state that Arlathan Forest is dangerous as multiple members of their organization are being carried away and injured, as if the player wouldn't conclude this fact by, I don't know, engaging with the game? At the same time it doesn't provide who these Veiljumpers are exactly and how they know of Solas and the true character of the Evanuris as these facts are not common knowledge among the people of Thedas.
Rook and Varric seem to have an established history but we never get to see how they met and what they did together. We don't get to build our relationship with Varric as Rook like we did as Hawke or the Inquisitor. We have to pretend it's magically there.
Which brings me to my next point: the game doesn't care for established lore and replaces it with a nonsensical version
Said Veiljumpers, including Bellara, consist almost entirely of dalish elves who have an extensive lore surrounding their pantheon, religious ohilosophies and principles. Their gods are the Evanuris, also called the creators. Elgar'nan is the Allfather in this pantheon while Ghilan'nain is the Mother of Halla in dalish tradition. This should have lead to conflict with Rook who is fighting these very gods. Instead the elves seem the accept the fact without second thought.
The same goes for Davrin who somehow identifies Ghilan'nain as the Mother of all Monsters while it remains unclear from where he takes his information.
On the flip side human Andrastianism doesn't seem to play a role at all. The game does not explore what rise of the elven gods means for the belief in The Maker. The human companions don't comment on it either and the templars have seemingly vanished.
The Antaam are waging an expansionist war without command from the Arishok now. Despite the Qun being a highly disciplined doctrine that values firmly set roles and chain of command above all else, the entire qunari military arm is somehow able to act without order and war amongst themselves.
But wait, there is a word for Qunari who behave like this already established. Tal Vashoth! So the game is basically claiming the entire qunari military went rogue.
The Antivan Crows, hitmen for hire, who buy kids from the slave market to raise them to be obedient killers and use trorture to reach this goal and are willing to kill said members if they go rogue or mess up a job, are the good guys now who protect Antiva's streets from harm.
Ferelden and Orlais got swallowed by the blight and whoever rules Orlais got assassinated by the Venatori anyway which renders the entire questline of Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts pointless.
And appearantly Morrigan slept around a lot now and Shaper Valta from the Decent dlc has become a statue in Kal Sharok?
The devs lied about previous choices not mattering
It becomes clear that the devs may have had a certain world state in mind when writing the story. This becomes clear when Harding talks about the Inquisition's spymaster being Charter but also mentioning Leliana. But we all know Leliana was the spymaster. So if the position fell to Charter there must have happened something that forced Leliana out of the position, like being named Divine for instance?
This impression is further cemented by the attitude of the First Warden towards the Inquisitor. It was stated that the First Warden had no high opinion of the Inquisitor. But why? They never met before. Could it be that the First Warden could be holding a grudge because of a specific decision made at Adamant, possibly the banishment of the wardens by the Inquisitor?
This is not even complete as I have not finished the game yet. But lord, this is a lot already in the beginning. At this point a miracle needs to happen to to render the points above meaningless but it isn't going to happen.

Pit Babe Characters x Cartomancy ➣ Part 6: Pete & Way
King of Diamonds: A person with great wealth and power. Often skilled in various areas, a jack of all trades. Ten of Spades: A card of misfortune and tragic endings. Reveals secrets, obsessions, and lies.
for @pitbabeanniversary week 6 prompts: pete & way
(more thoughts under the cut!)
disclaimer: i am not an expert in either cartomancy or tarot reading. i did a lot of research on these two sites to come up with these cards for the characters. some of the meanings associated with the cards are still only my own interpretation, so they might not be completely accurate.
pete and way are the last pair in this series and i have to say that it feels fitting. they are the pair with no ending, the pair left the most incomplete in season 1. way dies for redemption (which is stupid imo) before he's able to ever open up to pete and his attempts to get closer to way. pete is only left with a grave, yet nothing seems to end. (pls s2 come quicker, i need way to have his glorious back from the dead -moment already!)
pete: just like alan, i think pete's card is very obvious and so, very clich. he's the king of diamonds through and through, the person often associated with money and power. he's very proud of what he's accomplished in life, yet always thrives to be more, to be bigger, better, more powerful. he's in a war against his adoptive father in the only way he knows how, and so he must always be on the rise. he has no chance of letting loose, and i think we all can agree that he works way too much and rests too little. he is often stuck being not quite himself, lonely at the top. it must be hard when we can see that beneath the business persona, pete is horribly warm.
this is why king of diamonds is also described as charitable, generous, and reliable. once again, pete is a lot like alan, but where alan offers his heart, pete offers resources: money, connections, and his skills. he's tried his best to become invincible in every way just like his adoptive father seems to be. he's great in socializing, in doing business, even in combat and tactics. he's driven by his wish to help, and i guess that often ties to his compassion and understanding. that's why he hasn't given up on kenta and that's why he instantly reaches out for way, too. pete might not be able to provide a family in the way alan does, but pete is able to reach out a helping hand. he can offer a place to stay for those who have nowhere else to go and no one else to listen to them. he cares, and just like with work, it's sometimes too much. he does not get a break from it.
way: it was easy to decide that spades was way's suit; a little later, i decided on number ten. i was first thinking about ace of spades bc it's the death card of the deck, but i did not want to make way only about his death when it's the thing i dislike about his character so much. so, i decided on ten bc of the "tragic ending", which is not way's death, even if it kind of is. i think the true tragic ending comes for him earlier; with the reveal of his betrayal that causes him to lose everything he's ever had. he loses his pack, his family, his home; he loses himself, and all his self-worth, and worst of all, babe. bc he does love babe, even if it's in all the wrong ways. way has tried his best, has tried to do what he thought was right, and in the end, it is not enough to solve anything or save babe. (and so he must die, but let's ignore that.)
in a sense, the reveal of that betrayal is both the end and a beginning for way. after it's it's a way for him to be born again. he can give up on all the lies, all the acting and pretending. he's used so much time and effort keeping up his web of lies he must be exhausted by now. how many times did he almost trip? how many times did he forget what lies he'd told and had to come up with new ones, or had to use his powers to fix his mistakes? now, there's no longer need for any of that. he can finally breathe freely. no more lies, no more acting, no more being someone else. everything is out in the open and it must be terrifying bc the ppl who loved him before, would they reject this real version of him? even if they were not this hurt, didn't hate him, would they still not want way? what if tony is right and there's nothing to love about him? i don't know but i hate that the series never let way find out. but well, in season 2 we trust, i suppose. i have hopes and dreams about it <3
but based on these thoughts, it's easy to see why pete and way would work together. way is the master of deception, of lies and acting. pete is able to read people, literally and figuratively. there's no hiding from him and his touch, and i think in some ways, way needs exactly that. he needs someone to understand him without words, or to look into his head and put his thoughts into words for him. pete again needs someone he can trust with his softer side, which i also find interesting about him: he is so ready to offer his heart to way even after knowing who way is and what his powers can do. pete seems like a paradox in that sense, always keeping everyone and everything at a distance (or so i assume), yet being so ready to believe in ppl and offer them trust he's seen so easily broken.
there are also some other interesting connections to this pair i wanted to mention. the funniest coincidence imo is that babe's card is about new beginnings, while way's card is now about tragic or bad endings. also, charlie's card being the exact half of way's (5 and 10) seems to have some kind of story behind it. pete again has the same suit as kenta, both their cards in the royal family, and i think that's exactly why they work and don't work together. pete is exactly like the king, the one on top and in control, while kenta is the knight, the person who serves and follows. they're both calm in personality, tho am not sure if it's exactly who they are or if it's who they were forced to become. i wonder what could've been if kenta had left with pete – or if they'd never been taken by tony at all and had grown up like other kids.
this edit concludes my musings for all these characters. it's been a joy to make these and ponder on these boys, and honestly, i feel like i've found a completely new love and appreciation for all of them. thank you for all who have liked these edits and happy anniversary to the vroom vroom omegaverse bl, you've been stellar ♥ never thought i'd come back to you in a year but here we are, have my whole heart!
(idk if i'll make an edit for the last week, so also adding that i enjoyed the event a ton! it's been fun going to the tag and seeing everybody talk about the series again. looking forward to s2 and the anniversary stage live in less than two weeks ^^)

The thing is... I don't disagree with you, I just think we have a different interpretations of something in the text that is more open to interpretation than most other parts of the pretty hard magic system of Fma(b). This is something more philosophical in nature.
As I understand it, you analyzed this pretty thoroughly based on the usage of the world "toll" and how that toll can indeed be paid with the Philosopher's Stone. I would absolutely agree with you there - which is why I said that the Stone can be used to open the Gate.
Where our interpretations of the text vary, however, is when it comes on whether or not a stone can be used to get back a toll that has already been paid. Because for me, personally, that is one of the aspects of the manga that lends itself to a more open, philosophical interpretation than the idea of a hard prize that can be bargained with using a stone. We know there is no equivalency for a human soul, but sacrifice and provenance seem to mean something for Truth - otherwise the tolls taken from our heroes wouldn't be so damn symbolic. Otherwise Ed's Gate wouldn't function as something equivalent to Al's entire being. By the end of the series we - and its heroes - know that Equivalent Exchange no longer works when it comes to the metaphysical.
And so, in my interpretation of the text, we never see anyone besides Mustang use a Stone to heal something that the Gate had already taken. A toll paid for gained knowledge.
Yes, we see Ed do human transmutation multiple times, we see him open the gateway multiple times, but both times he trades something else (Envy's Stone, his own Gate, Father's Stone when he summoned them) we don't see him receive any new information. The only time we factually know that characters actually gained something from the Gate was during times we saw them lose parts of their body - the times they paid a physical toll.
And these tolls are never repaired by the Stone itself.
(except for Mustang, once more)
You focused a lot on the word "toll", and you're right to do that. I was not as precise in my analysis as I should have been. For me, a lot of my focus is more on what Hohenheim said to Izumi. And it might be a translation error, I have only read the manga in English and German, and watched like seventeen different versions of the anime based on who chose to translate what, but in pretty much every iteration he says that he CANNOT give Izumi her inner organs/womb back. Not that he won't, but that he can't.
And I'll admit that is a pretty small thing to build my analysis on, but in my understanding of the meaning behind the toll - and the price one must pay to gain back what was once lost - it is a pretty significant one.
To repay the toll of knowledge already gained, of opening the doorway and trespass beyond the Gate, you have to pay a different price, something more personal than "just" the souls of those used as a Stone.
Because at that point in the story, it is a lot more about personal sacrifice than equivalent exchange.
So, you have Ed's leg that doesn't quite fit, and I have Roy's sight - both theories fit differently and not quite perfectly, but I am genuinely thrilled to have this conversation at all :D
I think one of the few genuine plotholes in Fullmetal Alchemist (Brotherhood & Manga) is the fact that Roy Mustang can get healed by the Philosopher's Stone in the end.
Hear me out.
Quite often, when something isn't answered in the text of fma(b), the answer can still be procured by building up from the existing canon. The magic system of the world is solid and consistent enough for us to create very solid and coherent world building.
Which is why it always irked me in the end when the Stone works on Roy's eyes.
Why?
Because it is heavily implied that not even a Stone has the power to restore what was lost to the Gate. This is of course, not something we as the audience know or believe from the get-go. We are introduced to the Stone via the Elric brothers, who mostly just know that this mystical stone can do the unthinkable. The impossible.
But, as we later learn, not even the Stone can bring back the dead. Death is eternal and cannot be reversed. It is one of the hard truths of the show. No matter how much power you hold, you cannot bring back the dead.
Even Father's showing in the last fight, when he brings back the people of Xerxes, fails to actually deliver on Hohenheim's taunt of "creating life" - because he is just returning souls he already carries within him to the physical realm.
So, that's the first limitation of the Philosopher's Stone firmly established.
But there's a second one.
We know the Stone can heal - Marcoh uses it to heal countless people in his town, some even from deadly diseases and such. We see Father heal Edward's broken arm and create an entirely new arm for Alphonse after his got eaten. Edward uses his own soul like a Stone to close the wound in Baschool, so, yes, healing is firmly within the realms of the Stone.
It is probably far more effective than Alkehistry when it comes to healing, because it CAN ignore the boundaries of the body. I'd actually go so far and say that someone talented and medically knowledgeable could maybe even restore a limb with the help of a Philosopher's Stone. We've seen it do the impossible after all.
But I don't think a Philosopher's Stone could ever actually restore Ed's limbs. Not in the classical sense at least.
Why?
Because when Hohenheim encounters Izumi and tries to help her, he cannot restore her lost organs. He cannot walk that path for her. He can heal her - he rearranges her inner organs and heals the open wounds within her gut, probably giving her another ten years of healthier living, but he cannot return to her what is lost.
He also never offers Ed to give him his limbs back, even after everything has been revealed and they're preparing for the Promised Day.
(He does promise to sacrifice himself for Al in the end, but we'll get to that in a bit)
This is something the Elrics don't know - they don't know what Hohenheim did and did not do for Izumi. They believe, up to the end, that they could restore their bodies with a Philosopher's Stone, but they choose not to.
I think, actually, that Hohenheim might be the only one who knows that it is not possible.
Because what they have lost was a price paid for pushing past the boundaries of humanity, it is a punishment for arrogance just as much as it is a toll for knowledge gained. They didn't lose their organs during childbirth, their arms and legs on the battlefield. All of them walked into god's domain and paid the price.
It is the Unforgivable Sin, after all, the Ultimate Taboo.
This is not something you can reverse by paying a bribe (the souls of the stone) - not unless there's a personal sacrifice bound to it as well.
Which is why it probably would have worked if Hohenheim had given his own life for Alphonse - because it would have been the sacrifice of a father for his son. Equivalency restored.
To get back what you've lost from the Gate, there needs to be an Equivalent Exchange - and the souls of strangers don't do it in the Eye of Truth.
Which doesn't mean that you cannot open the Portal of Truth with a Philosopher's Stone. We've seen it. It is possible. But never once successfully when it comes to the restoration of a body. You can push through the Gate using a Stone, you can heal, you can force someone else through the Gate... but you cannot restore what the Gate itself has taken.
That is a much more personal gamble, a much more personal exchange.
It is the second limitation of the Stone: you cannot gain back the toll you paid for stumbling into god's realm without sacrificing something yourself.
Which brings me to my original point: the fact that Roy Mustang's eye sight could be restored using a Stone.
It's a plot hole.
It is one of the few plot holes in the show/manga, and even as I write this, I am trying to think of a watsonian explanation. Maybe it's because Roy didn't do the human transmutation out of his own free will. Maybe it's because he was forced through. Maybe it's because Truth feels responsible for what happened to him. Maybe the story is lenient to him and his wish to see the future.
But the truth remains, that every time I encounter this story, that part of it trips me up.
And now you know it too.

I need people to know that Rio's behavior in ep 8 was NOT out of character.
That was her finally hitting her breaking point.
Agatha hurt her So Bad with their deal on the Road. She looked at Rio with nothing but hate and venom and said I never want to see you again. When you ferry my soul to the afterlife, I don't even want to see your face. You gave me nothing.
Except she HAS. (hence her reaction in that moment) She's given Agatha so much. She gave Agatha six years with Nicky that he never should have had. She gave Nicky six years with Agatha. She took him peacefully in his sleep and depending on your interpretation, told him ahead of time so that he could have a peaceful night with his mama instead of killing witches.
Then when she tried to kill Billy the first time (throwing him through the glass window), she let him live when Agatha begged her to stop. Billy's soul is within her rights to claim, just like Nicky's was. And she stayed her hand, for Agatha, AGAIN. No one in history has had special treatment like you.
Even besides that, she's given Agatha so many chances to let go of her anger. She helped her break out of Wanda's spell. She's tried to come clean with her, to reason with her, to be there for her on the Road. She defends her against her evil ghost mom. She defends her to the coven. And except for one hug and almost kiss, one slip into old habits, Agatha gives her nothing but her rage.
Sad is better than angry and Agatha has never moved past angry when it comes to Rio, nevermind understanding or acceptance. Because Agatha sucks at feelings and refuses to look at them.
So when Agatha steps off the Road, Rio's finally decided to be pissed about it. Rightfully so, imo.
She said ok baby, you wanna fight? Let's fight. You wanna make me the villain? (When we both know you're the villain, you hypocrite. That's usually your move right.) I'll be the villain. Let's go. Now you're gonna know MY pain. We'll do it your way.
Death by a thousand cuts is what Agatha's been doing to her for centuries so she finally turned it back on her.
And yet even as she's attacking Agatha, she's trying to break through to her. I'm the natural order of all things baby. And you love me. Why don't you want me? There's an awful lot of hurt mixed into this backlash.
Which begs the question, if Billy hadn't interrupted, what would she have really done to Agatha? At the end of the day, probably nothing. She can't outright kill her, it's not allowed. She had Agatha tied up, maybe she would have finally made her fucking talk about what happened to them. Maybe not. But all in all, she wouldn't have killed her. She couldn't. On a metaphysical level or an emotional level. It's the same in episode 1. She makes a big show of fighting Agatha, and then she backs off. She can't do shit.
That's what makes Agatha's death all the more tragic. Rio couldn't and wouldn't have killed her. Agatha could have called her bluff, but she's too blinded by her anger still to see that Rio loves her too much to kill her. Agatha seals her own fate by stealing Rio's power. With the kiss, Rio doesn't even know what's happening until Agatha pulls away. (Some A++ microexpression work from Aubrey there if you look closely). Agatha dies, and she never meant for that to happen. Not really.
She just wanted to fuck her up a little bit. Give her a little taste of her own medicine. Would that fly in any normal relationship? No. In this relationship? I think it was totally justified.
#As Jac said - everybody arcs out of this show#but that lady (agatha) doesn't arc out#she's got a looong way to go with her pain and trauma and heartbreak#but rio was over it#and rightfully so#she said babe i've really had enough of your bs#and then got wayyy more than she bargained for#poor bb did nothing wrong in her life (death) ever#she gave and gave and gave and got nothing back#because Agatha's a taker#yikes#oh and then! and then! she lets Billy go anyway#she gives Agatha what she wanted AGAIN#agathario#agatha all along

Hiii! I really love your twst monster au! And because I love it so much I decided to draw Rollo in this AU
I really wanted to draw how would he look like! So here it is
I know this isn't his canon look but I couldn't possible let the motivation escape me ( ・ั﹏・ั)
I think Rollo would use a dagger as a weapon meanwhile MC/Yuu would use a dirk or a crossbow to match him (obviously, this is just my imagination working)
I hope you like it!! Love love
P.S: There is my little Yuu at the corner (・∀・)
Omg!!!! He’s such a cutie <3 And don’t worry about not following his canon look!! The designs I make for everyone are just my personal ideas, but you guys are the ones reading them, so it’s your choice how you interpret them (๑˃ᴗ˂)ﻭ whether you follow canon or make your own design i’ll love them either way, bc js getting fanart is so heartwarming <333
(♡︎ o♡︎) I love the idea of Rollo with a dagger!! It really feeds into his medevial/old timely aesthetic he has going on!! It gives him that prim and proper vibe that balances MH!Darling’s personality (Too kind for their world, but then again, it’s why Rollo loves you sm isn’t it? ( ̄▽ ̄)
Ahhhh! Ofc I love it!!! Now that Glorius Masquarde’s rerun is done there will be a lack of Rollo content for a while so i’m eating this up like it’s my last meal (ಡ‸ಡ). Your Yuu is so cutie pie, cheering on Rollo is so adorable!!!
The single earring on his ear reminds me, I forgot to let this be a known detail, but Reader has the other pair, and I just think it’s such a cute add-on ^.^. And their matching weapons too, I can see Reader staying over at his house and rushing out, accidentally grabbing his weapon instead of their own… and then Crowley suspiciously eyes you because why are you disheveled, tired, and holding onto Rollo's weapon instead of yours?? And then Rollo follows with your gear in tow and now Crowley acts like the boss he is, and tells Rollo to take care of a birdie such as yourself!
When he processes the information he’s rushing to explain it’s not what he thinks, but then you throw an elbow around him and call him your (Fake) house husband, further diarraying peoples view of your relationship. (He’s doesn’t actually mind that much tho (>ᴗ•)
Who does mind? Crewel and Trein. What do you mean you have a husband???? That’s not allowed!!!

WA state supreme court is a great example of why I don't respect a lot of the rhetoric around voting. one guy running has a very broad interpretation of the stupid WA anti-income tax constitutional amendment. but the seat is "non-partisan" so there's no party preference shown on the ballot. if you're telling people "just vote for one hour straight ticket every four years, it's not that hard" do you see how you're giving them really significant and dangerous misinformation? the ONLY way to know who's who is to spend time RESEARCHING THE BALLOT. which takes time.
and man, there's not even always a good option and doing your research doesn't necessarily result in good outcomes! MY SMALL LOCAL FRIEND GROUP could plausibly have caused there to be ONLY REPUBLICANS running for commissioner of public lands.
why? because there were two republicans running and five democrats, so the ballot was split really heavily on their end. the two top candidates both looked good but the Stranger endorsed one and the Seattle Times the other.
now, what we failed to realize is that ST is Fucking Cooked. they're washed
so a bunch of us looked at the options and said, yeah, actually, candidate DePoe, ST's candidate, is a member of the Makah tribe and is emphasizing greater sovereign tribal involvement in the commission. that seems like something worth supporting!
and we voted for him.
WA primaries are open so the top two candidates go on to the general. Upthegrove, the Stranger candidate, came in… third, on initial counting. by about as many people as our little circle of people decided to vote for DePoe.
this is, you may be saying to yourself, a really dumb outcome. true. particularly since upthegrove won the general election handily (on recount and vote curing he made it to second place in the primary)
but this is all to illustrate that anyone telling you voting is easy, not time consuming, and has obvious correct choices is LYING TO YOUR FACE FOR THEIR OWN AGENDA
and I think I would respect it a little more if it felt like it was even lying to you for a concrete political agenda but frankly it just feels like the agenda is "I feel anxious about the presidential election and need you to ameliorate my feelings so I can stop thinking about politics again"

Blue and Violet Scenes/Ideas that never made the cut
Self Indulgent post ahead, but I kind of wanted to share some of the things that had been part of the early stages of BAV but were cut out when I finally started publishing! Most of this stuff was either cut out due to my interpretations of the characters naturally changing and/or I simply realized that these aspects simply could not fit the story I wanted to tell (or, they are just silly things I simply could not fit into the plot line. OR, I forgot about them and didn't remember these things existed until now 💀).
Starting off strong with a thing I actually wrote a segment for (an idea that was relatively recent compared to the ones down below): During Colours, Baihe and Macaque were meant to visit the ruins of her house and try and salvage any bits and pieces which might help them find her parents. In the end I had decided that, Baihe would have done that already before Macaque found her on the park bench. I just think that that moment between her and her old home should just... well, it's a moment that belongs to her. Something Macaque didn't need to bare witness.
Extra Info: This is where Baihe was originally meant to find the old photo of her, her parents, and Māo as a kitten. And... Macaque is there in the background. Stealing an air fryer that managed to survive the wreckage (this was in fact written into the draft of this segment).
Next is- well, it contains a bit of a heavy topic. It's about Mayor and LBD and... erm...
In the published version of TQFTSK. Macaque betrays the Chief and locks them in the Calabash and this inevitably leads to LBD telling Chief to cut off their hair. Originally, this was not going to be the only thing she would do.
I have incredibly mixed feelings about this concept, but basically, after Chief especially failed to get the key and 'let' Macaque escape, LBD would have had severe insecurities about the Chief being on their own and the idea that they would never be able to get anything done without her. So, she made them wear a collar. So that every time they didn't do anything right, the needles imbedded into it would dig into their throat and- well, it was basically torture. She would have called it 'necessary discipline'. Of course, the collar would not be visible to anyone. It only appears when it's 'necessary'.
But this was an extremely early concept that I threw away in the bin after realising that this was not what I wanted LBD and Mayor's relationship to be like. While the initial idea behind this was to really empathize the fact that LBD owns Mayor and is extremely controlling, the idea of a physical collar ruins that aspect of their relationship. It's a visual and painful representation of their relationship, sure, but it made their relationship too negative and, well, Mayor loves her. And I knew it needed to be important to at least give you guys some sort of reason and some sort of argument as to why that admiration and love would be justified. The collar was just too much, and it didn't fit either of them.
Side Note: One thing I think subconsciously happened though, was the needle thing. LBD ended up killing Ling with tens of thin needles piercing through their body. So, not a collar, but the basic principle of needles being used for pain... remains.
Moving on, a more silly one this time! Somewhere near the beginnings of all of this (all the way back when I had only planned to make TQFTSK and Colours), there was going to be one single chapter (in Colours) dedicated to the Mayor going through all the stages of grief (eventually I'd come to the conclusion that they needed a lot more than one chapter to do all of that lmao). As a part of their bargaining stage, Macaque was going to stumble upon them in a bar and- unfortunately, being the curious nut he is, decides to stick around and just listen to the Mayor drunkenly mope.
PSA: No, this would not have ended in drunk kissing. This was meant to end in a snotty nosed Mayor and Macaque promptly leaving after he'd had his bit of listening to their misery.
Another thing was that Mayor was meant to be able to see souls! This particular story feature eventually just evolved into Mayor simply being able to judge a soul by looking at their eyes (hence the whole, "eyes are the gateway to the soul").
Another Note: This whole idea was also meant to emphasize the fact that Mayor has no soul and, how whenever they look inside themselves, there is no colour and there is no soul (that is, until they get their soul back). But, well, I figured their eyes alone would be able to do all of that just fine without this ability.
Now, as ashamed as I am to admit, originally I had completely bought into the Baihe, Macaque, and Mayor family dynamic. So, in the beginning, this was what was going to happen.
But then I decided Baihe was not going to conveniently be an orphan or have shitty parents for the sake of this dynamic. No, no no no. She will have loving parents, character development, and she will be more than just a character to fill in the slot of 'the child'. Whenever I write Baihe, I always strive to not use her for the sake of developing Macaque and Mayor's characters. No shame to those who like this dynamic though, its a good one and it's so silly (I still like it to be honest).
Now, let me tell you that there are a LOT more unused concepts than this. It's really just a decent slice from a never ending pile of WIPs and shower thoughts scribbled onto a doc from all the way back in like... 2022-23.
#lego monkie kid#lego monkie kid fanart#monkie kid#monkie kid fanart#lmk#lmk fanart#lmk mayor#monkie kid mayor#lmk macaque#monkie kid macaque#lmk baihe#monkie kid baihe#lmk little girl#monkie kid little girl#lmk hostess#monkie kid hostess#chat is it weird to hyperfixate on your own fic#or maybe it's just the fact that shadowpuppet has consumed my life#shadowpuppet#lmk shadowpuppet#making this post actually reminded me how many unused concepts I actually could use and therefore have refrained from including them here#I have intense fears of using Baihe as a plot device solely for Macaque's benefit because she deserves better

🦉Inspired by This Great Post
"Can an affini who is a floret for another affini also have her own florets"
To me, it seems obvious the answer is "it depends on what floret means in this case". Affini/Floret is an umbrella over numerous dynamics. Just to name common ones: Dom/sub, Owner/pet, Caregiver/little, Technician/Transhuman, Caregiver/Disabled.
Each can be Lifestyle or Scene, except Disability which by it's nature is 24/7. That gives us 9x9 different possibilities for interpreting the question. I'm not going to go through all of them, but here are the ones I find interesting.
Affini/Affini as Lifestyle Dom/sub, Affini/Floret as Lifestyle Dom/sub: "Can my Sub have their own Sub?" Yes absolutely, this shows up quite often in Polyamorous Dynamics. And giving a sub dominance advice on the basis of past scenes is /normal/.
A/A as Dom/sub, A/F as Owner/pet: "Can my Sub own a dog?" Yes, it's probably even good for their mental health! That said, giving them dog-care advice on the basis of past scenes is an interesting choice
A/A as Dom/sub, A/F as Caregiver/little: "Can my Sub have a child?" Obviously yes! This is incredibly common irl. Although again, giving them childrearing advice based on scene content would be A Choice.
A/A as Dom/sub, Affini/Floret as Caregiver/Disabled: "Can my Sub have a dependent?" Yes, obviously. Caring for someone is completely orthogonal to what you want in close relationships.
A/A as Lifestyle Owner/pet or Lifestyle Caregiver/little: "Can my dog/child have a sub/dog/child/etc?" No, your pet/child isn't capable of caring for another being. They might help you though.
A/A as Caregiver/Disabled, Affini/Floret as Owner/pet: "Can my Disabled Dependent have a pet?" Yes, although they might need a more independent pet like a cat depending on their own ability. That said, it seems like most authors treat Affini as abled, it would be interesting to see an Affini that needs a caregiver.
Technician/transhumanist: This dynamic mostly shows up in Class Gs and Biomods and Robotics fics. It would be /very/ interesting to see done between an Affini couple. Forced grafts?

This is one of the really interesting questions about the stick figures: how does age, or rather maturity, actually work for them?
As far as I can tell, there are three major types of sticks in canon: Artificial Animated Sticks [Alan's, and potentially other Animators too], Artificial Other Medium Sticks [ie: sticks from games or other types of art that were still created by humans, like the RGBY] and Natural Sticks [Sticks like Purple who were born via reproductive means]
Age between these types of sticks has to have wildly different meanings, as well as the rate of maturity.
Purple, a born stick, is shown to be a baby in his backstory. He's then shown to have grown, though over how long of a timespan is unknown. At best, we can speculate that this type of stick's lifecycle is somewhat similar to a human's: born as an infant that needs to be cared for, and then learning how to live, developing/maturing, as they grow up.
But Artificial Animated Sticks are CLEARLY different.
All four of Alan's sticks are very capable right after creation. They're already quite mentally developed. Victim and Orange especially are quite smart just minutes after their 'birth'. Like they're already at least a couple of years old, cognitively.
Not much has been revealed about other types of Artificial Sticks, but it's likely that they're similar to Animated Sticks in this regard. Perhaps their level of maturity is based on their Creator's intent for them, but without further info, it's difficult to speculate.
As far as I see it, there's two potential measurements of age one could apply to Artificial Sticks: mental age, and age based on their creation date.
Personally, I think that Orange, RGBY, and Chosen all have mental maturity ages equivalent to their creation age [10-12, and 17-18 respectively]. Dark and Victim, however, just feel different.
Dark has always seemed to be a lot more similar to Chosen's age than his 'true' age, and I think that it might be due to the manner of his creation. He was made to Chosen's equal in almost every way, his polar opposite that was designed to be able to destroy him. This intention may have factored in to how "old" Dark was at his time of creation; old enough to match Chosen's. So I feel like Dark is also around 17-18. Maybe 16, if we want to interpret his enthusiasm for showing off the ViraBot as a 'childish' action.
Victim's different. I think that he's a case of being "wiser beyond one's years", entirely due to how much crap he's potentially lived through. 17 years is already a long time for stick figures, but Victim had five extra years to do things that Chosen did not (due to the enslavement). This, combined with how intelligent Victim seems to be, gives off the impression that he's older than 18. More like 23-25. Older than his creation-based age, but still young enough to make reckless, foolish choices based in anger, like trying to get vengeance on his Creator. Undeniably smart and clever, but still a little naive and unable to comprehend the potential bigger picture or the consequences very well. Or perhaps he's just really ambitious and genuinely doesn't care about any of the risks/danger, just about satisfying his vendetta.
(It's possible that future revelations from AvA11 might change this interpretation, so this is all, currently, tentative and speculative despite my own headcanons lmao)
While not specifically important to anything, I also personally headcanon Yellow being the oldest of the RGBY, followed by Blue, Green, and finally Red, though it's more of how twins/triplets argue about who's technically oldest than any meaningful time difference. They were all created on the same day, just a a couple of dozen minutes apart. Orange is the youngest of them all, by at least a year.
Also, another factor that complicates the entire age thing is that we don't know exactly how long living stick figures have been around. We don't know when the Outernet was made, nor where the artificial life came from. It's possible that all of it, everything, only came into existence in the late 1990s/early 2000s. Or, perhaps digital life began around the same time the internet itself was created, which would be around 1983. That's not a lot of time, all things considered. If Natural Sticks age at similar rates to humans, there can't be many generations of them yet.
It' just a really fascinating and confusing part of the lore. It always hurts my brain trying to think about it.
Oh! Oh!
Genuine question for people who consider and accept Color Gang to be 10-12 years old because of their debut episode date(2014):
Do you also accept that Victim and The Chosen One are 18? And The Dark Lord is 14? Because Victim and TCO's videos were uploaded in 2006 and TDL's in 2010.
This is like a GENUINE question. I'm not making fun of you, I'm genuinely curious.
If not, why? I would like to know why Color Gang are special cases.

I have a headcanon that 'Branwen' is not Raven and Qrow's surname from birth, nor was the name of their tribe at the time. When the tribe got their hands on the documents and decided to send the twins to Beacon, they needed to give themselves a surname. The one they were born with was long forgotten by that point (hell, they were too young to remember what their given names were before the tribe took them).
Qrow, who already rebelled against the tribe by idolising The Reaper, suggested to Raven they take a name from a story. Raven agreed, and the two began searching through what few books they owned for inspiration. Eventually they settled on 'Branwen', the name of a warrior with a close association to corvids.
Ozpin knew from the moment he saw them that their surname was made-up. It came from a story he wrote, after all (and he already figured out they were from a bandit tribe because, well, they weren't exactly discreet enough to fool him).
But the name 'Branwen' is still theirs now, regardless of its origin. Qrow was named so because of his misfortune. Raven's name was given after Qrow's, because she was an afterthought. Their abusers gave them those names. But 'Branwen'? That was all the twins. That was their first taste of freedom.
Giving themselves a name.
#raven branwen#qrow branwen#ozpin#rwby#rwby headcanon#my post#also dw they reclaimed their first names#this mostly sprouted from me reading beacon era strq where the tribe is referred to as the branwen tribe#and while yes i think they'd be dumb (affectionate) enough to name themselves after the tribe#i like giving them my own interpretations#and connecting them with stories#it fun :3

FAMINE: That's one deep, dark nothing you've got there, Dean.
[youtube with closed captions]
dean and his father. dean and his family. dean and how bad it is.
(via @closetoyou1970)
#spn#vid#mind the warnings on this one for real#woe! fruit of my rewatch be upon ye.#pallas calls this my 'deangirl coming out vid' which honestly. true. but those who paid attention know i've always been a deangirl.#also. after this no more deanwinchester rilo kiley amvs I Pwomise#anyway. i'm not gonna give a full commentary here but a big reason why i chose this song is that the narrator#is essentially dismissing her own problems and instead watching the problems of someone else#and i kind of wanted to play with that theme. this is the parallels show so let's do some parallels. lots of things happen to characters#that are Like Dean somehow. either in personality or circumstance. that we know or can infer happen to him. but we don't see it bc it's#not sayable. not speakable. so like for an easy one. we see meg being tortured in caged heat. she also talks about apprenticing under#alastair just like dean. so i show her being tortured [in a way that is sexualized and demon-specific] and reacting how she does#because i invite the audience to imagine or interpret that this has also happened to dean at some point. we just don't see it#so there are many dean parallels in this video. some obvious. some subtle but textual. some products of my twisted mind. but that's the way#i am using them to make my argument.#oh also: dean voice sam's eyes going black is JUST like when he used to fight with dad and wouldn't listen to me when i told him not to.#i guess also the point is that because it's unsayable. dean can't say it. dean can't even acknowledge it. and so it bleeds through#into everything in his life#that's why it's important that the song narrator doesn't take her own problems seriously. dean doesn't either.

Sight of a Star - Blue-ish Star Ryōshū and Don Quixote
#HERES HOW BLUE-ISH STAR BELIEVERS CAN STILL WIN I PROMISE#Rendering sucks but I do like how these look very much. I hate drawing armour. big fan of dramatic shadows however.#but! as for justifications:#B-iS is an abno regarding what one so desperately wants but cannot have - possibly connecting to Blue Star and the paradise-like place-#people wish to reach by throwing themselves into it. though what is offered by B-iS is a much less refined yet as tantalising#given the text of 'The irresistible allure is almost tearing you apart' and the less refined bit being implied by both design#[jagged edges of the actual blue shape and legs like dolls - both unlike BS' much rounder and more naturalistic design]#in short it's the manifestation of impossible dreams - for Don this is her quest for a just knighthood in the City of all places#and for Ryōshū [though idk her source] it is her final work of art - the Hell Screen#when approached one's body is 'pushed away' as if a manifestation of how it is unachievable. at least it is for them#'To be truly blue the one with the true blue must be left alone in one’s blueness.'#is what I interpret as: 'to truly dream the dreamer must be left to one's fantasies'#dreams by nature do not intersect well with reality. all their flaws will be shown and they will crack under the pressure of the real world#it is why the dream pushes them away. to preserve itself. also probably has something to do with how DQ also has void dream#and this abno gives pride boosts in its event. and I personally see pride as a sort of 'self assurance' or 'self above others' so to speak#as to chase ones dreams one must think themselves the exception. as the one that can persevere over the City#plus the HP damage and the various juxtapositions in the 'forward' option may be in reference to how dreams and reality don't mix.#harming those who chase them. though all the same the 'backwards' option shows that simply tossing them aside shall hurt in its own way#to think oneself 'impure' enough to give up on chasing it is all the same resignation on your uniqueness#as for the gift: the name is possibly to do with how lower stars seem easier to reach. and the effect of damage at minus SP....#going insane dream chasing?#but to take ones leave allows for it to be left behind without any further effects. you did not look at your dreams. acknowledge them at al#but are you better off like that? not dreaming? forgetting that brilliantly unfinished star?#but anyways I hope you liked my rambles. also this abno and everything related to Blue Star is so tastefully C flavoured that I love them#and fun fact! when I was first generally mapping sinners to unfightable/EGOless abnos I entirely forgot Ryōshū somehow. which led to this.#they don't have weapons they just kick real hard and it works well enough#limbus company#ryōshū lcb#don quixote lcb#🎠🚬

࿐Thoughts on Octonauts main 6 duos .࿐
[NOTE: these are MY hc's/opinions -> please don't kill me]
[ANOTHER NOTE -> if any of these are similiar to yours or others hc's -> I PROMISE IT'S NOT INTENTIONAL (hey I guess great minds think alike) ]
ALSO THIS POST IS LONG - so be warned
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Barnacles and Kwazii
Both of them are theatre kids
They love listening to musical soundtracks
One of the few people on the crew that Barnacles is really comfortable with telling his feelings
Also vice Vera’s for Kwazii, he’s also one of the few people on the crew he’s comfortable with not being his usual bravado self around and sometimes he’ll talk about his family history
Sometimes when they both need to vent, Kwazii will come into Barnacle's room and they’ll just rant for hours
Also, they probably use that time to debrief about how the other are doing + do welfare checks on the team
I just love how they match each other's energy (they are such doofuses when it’s just the two)
Brawn’s and Brawn’s fr (like in the whale shark or giant squid episode)
Both of them had matching man ponytails at one point
They have matching tattoos
Thanks to Kwasi, Barnacles accidentally finds himself telling sea monster tails when he's around the cubs
Avid Hamilton enthusiasts (both know the soundtrack word for word)
I can imagine these two drunk at a bar doing karaoke
They both had a stand-up comedy phase
Own a set of brass knuckles
Shared poetry appreciation
Sometimes Kwazii is too gullible to the things he sees on the internet and Barnacles has to talk some sense into him
They would do stakeouts together
Sing in the shower
Baranacles would drop-kick Kwazii if necessary
I also just like how Kwazii is always looking out for Barnacles
Look they are just so healthy and I love em
Light sleepers
Best volleyball duo
The best savers on the crew (Barnacles because he's responsible however Kwazii is there by default because of his pirate instinct to stash away cash (he'd forget about it and then when they are doing their yearly finances he'd just find that he'd accumulated like $40,000 (maybe stolen) in cash so he'd automatically win)
They can both breakdance? (much to the crew's horror)
Chat they are THE duo
Like lowkey imagine if one of them died, imagine how distraught they'd be (I think about this all the time) -> Imagine how they'd fall apart (Actually they remind me a lot of Brokeback mountain) (The main reason I try not to ship them is because I think it would just fall apart lowkey ) (sorry for this but they were literally the first people I thought of when I watched the movie)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kwazii and Peso
Both of them love gory horror movies (peso likes to analyse them) (for medical reasons he swears)
Can both speak Spanish and will have conversations in front of the crew in it or when they want to make some outlandish comment
Kwazii and peso are like opposites attract fr fr
Kwazii spends a lot of time in Medbay, much to Peso's dismay.
Because of this, the peso has trained Kwazii in medbay, because he needs assistance sometimes (and lowkey wants him to take better care of himself)
Peso will sometimes crash out in Kwazii's room if he's too worried to sleep
They would invest in a pair of matching light-up sneakers
Thanks to Kwazii's stories, Peso automatically jumps to the conclusion that something is a monster when he's scared by some unknown creature
The black and orange combo is always lethal
Peso always tries to actively include Kwazii in his family cause he's got like none (he can be an honourary penguin)
These two would not be able to sit normally (Peso would do the leg bounces or sit criss-cross and Kwazii would do a little perch thing)
Sometimes Kwazii would find a creature he wanted to keep for a bit and Peso would help him hide it (partially because he doesn't want him to get into trouble and cause he's concerned that Kwazii would hurt it while he's hiding it) so there would be random animals chilling in the medbay until Barnacles would find it and have to guilt trip him (using shellington) to go put it back (They would both get punished with the shitty chores)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dashi and Shellington
OMG I LOVE THEM SO MUCH
Either OTP or BROTP for me personally
I WANT WHAT THEY HAVE
THAT SHOULD BE ME
So um anyways... malewife and girlboss fr
Collects hairclips he thinks Dashi would like when they're on land
Loves listening to his rambles
Shellington loves that she can out-yap him when it comes to metrology
They are literally the peak childhood interest like space kid + sea kid
I just want them to be happy and wish that nothing bad ever happened to them
Photographs/films sealife + tells her all about it
I can imagine them working on articles together
Also, imagine they had one of those Sealife documentary things where Dashi is the cameraman and Shillington just yaps on about stuff they find
They both go to climate change rallies together
Shellington sometimes takes photos of Dashi cause he feels bad that she is never in them (although they're not the best quality Dashi treasures them)
They are chill around each other, they can yap for hours or sit in silence but they will still be happy
Give off old married couple vibes
They have a Stardew Valley farm together -> They both love the mines and always forget to water their crops (so their solution is to grind out in the mines poor until they have enough resources to make sprinklers) (Shellington mines, Dashis kills everything)
Dashi orders for both of them at restaurants
Morning person + night owl -> Sometimes Dashi will wake up at like 5am and realise that Shellington is still up and be like dude wtf go to bed
They share a weird appreciation for sundials
attached do not separate
One time Shillington noticed that Dashi was down and he tried to make her a snack. He proceeded to set fire to the kitchen
They've gone stargazing together (Dashi loves telling him about the constellations)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Peso and Tweak
This combo is lowkey kinda niche
Rarepair
They are so cute omg
I can imagine them playing video games together
They have matching oodies cause I said so
The two shortest out of the main six (THEY're SO SMALL GAHH)
Peso sometimes tries to help out Tweak in the launch bay (not that he can really do much) and lowkey admires Tweak's strength
He Apologises profusely every time they come back with a broken gup (he feels so bad) tweak finds it funny
They both like licorice
Most prone to panicking (our little overthinkers) (I mean I guess it's obvious for the peso, but tweak definitely worries a lot)
Tweak will hold peso's hand if he feels nervous
Tweak sometimes obtains some bad injuries for things going wrong with the gups and it lowkey scares the shit on of peso. Like she'll just rock up to the medbay filled with chunks of glass and burns and be like "So... um, can you fix me up?"
Goated at operation board game (peso for obvious reasons and tweak would just treat it like a gup (much to peso's horror))
They love the peanuts franchise
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Barnacles and Tweak
Like brother and sister imo
They are such old souls
They share a love for rugby
Very brother/sister vibes imo
They're been friends for yonks
Would be the only two to carry actual cash (Kwazii would too but it's a mix of currencies)
Probably the only crewmate that Barnacles has never been mad at (she can do no wrong)
They sometimes reminisce about the old octopod -> they are both still lowkey bad about crashing it
Both of them know Morse code (sometimes they send each other silly messages in it just cause
I feel like they'd both be kind've weird about their birthdays (not that keen on celebrating for some unknown reason)
They'd tackle or like punch each other's arm to show affection (I'd imagine that Tweak is the only person that Barnacles can do this to)
They'd both have a shared appreciation for "Dad music"
I also feel like they would be really good at hockey (Tweak grass hockey (regular) and barnacles ice hockey)
Avid beanie hat enjoyers
They'd be really good at card games (like 500 or hearts)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Peso and Shellington
OMG IT'S THE NERD BOYS
They study together
Shellington accidentally burns himself in the lab all the time, much to Peso's dismay. (he just wishes his crew would take better care of themselves)
They lowkey get the shits with each other sometimes (Like peso lowkey thinks shellington is a little bitch sometimes )
Sometimes heated debates just for the sake of it
They have number headcanons because they spent so much time doing math for their degrees
They also have favourite formulas
Have mixed feelings about organic chemistry
They could poison you in your sleep bfr
These too would be goated at an arcade
They'd fw the Sonic movies
Have the best book taste
They both have the most depressing music taste (they'll be listening to like the front bottoms or mitski or some shit for fun)
Shellington has zero spacial awareness so he's always getting injured
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dashi and Tweak
IT'S THE GIRLS
BESTIES LOVERS OML
WOMEN IN STEM
I have an idea for an AU when these two just live out in the middle of the desert and they just build machines and blow shit up all the time maybe sell nifty weapons when they need a stash
They are super close as they are the only girls on the team
BUILD GADGETS AND GIZMOS TOGETHER
Dashi would let Tweak dye her hair sometimes - she would have two pink money pieces or pink skunk hair imo
You know their Minecraft worlds would go hard
Tweak admires her coding ability + Dashi admires her building skills
Early bird + night owl -> When Dashi realises Tweak hasn't slept in a day or two, she'll make her a hot chocolate drag her to her bed and just sit on the floor until she falls asleep
Dashi spends a lot of time with Tweak, so she's gotten a good grasp on the gups and does the daily maintenance jobs with Barnacles if Tweak has crashed out
They both enjoy Lego but the technic kind. Especially tweak, I just know my girl has the full-on Lego trainset
Dashi gets nervous about the impression she makes on Ranger Marsh (she felt super guilty when she crashed the octo-ray and made Ranger Marsh worry about tweak)
They are literally lalalala and okokokok
Sometimes Dashi gets too carried away with something she finds interesting and tweaks gotta be like c'mon girl be careful
Tweak would actually die for Dashi (and vice versa)
Dashi would buy strawberry cups and Tweak would be like huh (Nana reference?)
They would avidly use fairy comments (both irl and online)
They would be the ones doing the crew haircuts
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Barnacles and Peso
Father and son fr
god I love them
Every time Peso goes missing Barnacles has a heart attack (not that he wouldn't for the others but Peso specifically he's like GOD FUCK WHERE IS HE)
Both are major family guys, and love showing each other family photos and albums
Sometimes they jam out together
They both love Mitski
Love the cold weather -> will kill for a good snow day (much to the crew's dismay)
They die in the heat
Share a mutual love of sweet treats
Peso was wary of Barnacles at first but soon came to just admire/respect him
Both would cry during sad movies
Also both fw soap operas
Peso used to be afraid of the captain when they first met
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shellington and Barnacles
Fathers TM
Guys, you don't understand how much I adore their friendship
But yes, they would bond over their shared fatherly struggles
Sometimes Barnacles wouldn't be able to sleep at night so he would just chill in Shellington's lab (Because he up until the ungodly hours) and he would just chill there. They wouldn't say too much, sometimes Shillington would talk about the research he was doing but he kind've understood that Barnacles just didn't want to be alone so he didn't pressure him to talk.
They both have the blandest taste out of everyone on the crew
Probably both think that salt is spicy
I feel like Barnacles neutralises some of Shellington's silliness so they are both just chill
They both have the goofiest pj's (canon)
Tallest members of the crew (you could literally climb them)
They both love info-dumping to each other - They'll take turns being listeners/yapper
They both share an insane love of Lego more-so the aesthetic models (Barnacles cause he likes to build ship models and Shellington well... he seems like the type)
They definitely thoroughly enjoyed the lego masters series
Honestly they both different flavours of tism for me personally
They share so many similarities that it's kind've scary -> like they are different genres of each other in a way that is crazy
Wait no I'm not crazy here me out -> They're both the omg I'm only good at one thing (they have a little bit of a complex about it), I need to be a good father (lowkey to compensate for this), have some trauma that holds me back a lil and also really goofy + super tall.
I personally think that's one of the reasons these two work together so well -> guys we need to talk about this more
They forced the whole crew (well mainly Barnacles) to do the 16 personalities quiz (I hc that Barnacles is REALLY into psychology and info-dumped about it so much to Shellington that he's lowkey invested)
After that, they made a chart for the combability of everyone on the crew
I'm not normal about the parallels these two share LIKE AHHHHH
Anyways -> they both have shitty eyesight (they both wear contacts most of the time but sometimes wear glasses)
Tell really corny dad jokes
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kwazii and Tweak
Chaotic duo if ever
Kwazii sows bandanas for tweak
Tweak lowkey wants him dead for all the damage he's done
Has a chalkboard with a tally of who's done the most damage (Kwazii is 1st with Shellington following closely behind)
Tweak has taught Kwazii how to fix up the GUP-B himself because she's so sick of doing it (the best investment she's ever made)
They both love destroy boys (I know I've said this before but I'm going to say it again)
They both hand out the most insane disses (when necessary)
Play Clash Royale (and they're sweats)
Can't spell to save their lives
They would go on all the crazy rollercoasters at a theme park
Speaking of rollercoasters -> these two would definitely dig those videos of the top 10 craziest rollercoasters/waterslides (but tweak tell you if it was actually possible) (or better yet how SHE could make it possible)
Both share a weird appreciation for chainsaws
They'd road rage so bad
They're so evil together and I love it
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Peso and Dashi
Sweethearts
Both are Kpop stans
They have weekly meetings to discuss the latest drama happening
They share an insanely popular fan account
They also both have matching photo cards
These two are definitely are the younger end of the crew (AND I AM NOT SAYING THAT THEY ARE LIKE 16. I THINK EVERYONE ON THE MAIN OCTONAUTS CREW IS AT LEAST 25+ AT THE MINIMUM)
They'll use modern slang just for the shits and gigs (they've definitely called Barnacles Sigma and Skibidi a few times just to piss him off)
They both play animal crossing but they are both SUPER competitive about it --> They are also RIGHT into the turnip stock market ( For some reason barnacles always has god-tier prices)
They make friendship bracelets together
When they are both feeling devious, they'll introduce the captain to some brain rot term and watch the rest of the crew go insane as he tries to incorporate it into his everyday lingo -> "Good work shellington, very Sigma" "Nice GUP upgrades Tweak, mogging the old designs" "Kwazi Istg don't be an omega and listen to me" -> They are not amused and want them dead (Barnacles just wants to be woke)
Dashi gets along surprisingly well with Peso's family
They would both have those little virtual electronic pet things (I forgot what they are called like the tamigoochee type shit) (if they were out on overnight missions, they'd give it to the other to take care of
They have really good eyesight
Have really nice scented shampoo
They both watched those really fucked up youtube videos as kids (like the Gacha or mlp horror types)
goated at origami
They'd be Hayday sweats
The mum friend
They'd do the daily wordles and connections together (but they;r also be lowkey competitive about it)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dashi and Kwazii
Chaos duo 2.0
Super energetic
They both love doing sports together - they both seem really athletic so I reckon they play each other often
Both are super competitive
These two both alternate being acting captain when Barnacles is not there and they bond over that
Both love spicy foods
I have this one really specific headcannon that they have cook-offs sometimes because hey why not and they divide into two teams: Dashi + Kwazii and Barnacles + Peso. (I feel like shellington is banned from the kitchen and Tweak well she cooks in the garage ifkwim, so they judge ).
These cookoffs would get HEATED, I reckon it's gotten to the point where they have thrown knives. But yeah Dashi and Kwazii are a killer combo in the kitchen
They both love fashion -> they also play dress to impress together (they'll roast all the other players and Kwazii usually wins)
Only person Kwazii can find that is willing to sword fight him (and doesn't instantly lose)
Dashi sometimes uses him as a model when she wants to practice portrait shots (he's probably the only one who's willing to tbh)
When they're around each other they often get tunnel vision which can get them in a little trouble (like in the Siphomphore episode) but it's ok, they love a little adrenaline rush
LOVE hotter weather --> they both love a good beach day
Dashi's still trying to teach Kwazii how to surf (he's getting the hang of it though)
Kwazii braids Dashi's hair (and vice versa)
They both love mean girls (they want to be Regina SO BAD)
Both love gold jewellery
Are both into star signs, planetary alignment, fate etc.
These two are probably the most spiritual in the crew.
I feel like these two actually wouldn't be too made if there was a zombie apocalypse
Violence is always an option
When they are bored they start placing stupid bets on each other and they will go to extreme lengths not to lose the bet
Dashi finds his fear of spiders amusing (like she's canonically Australian so she's immune to them)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tweak and Shellington
underrated
Both are masters of their world and they respect each other for that
Nightowls -> Their sleep schedule is unholy
Will both go days without sleeping (this terrifies the rest of the crew)
They often need to be put to bed by other crew members cause they'll just be passed out somewhere
I can imagine them building bombs together
Both of them are AVID glass animal fans
They both use really shitty shampoos like head and shoulder type shit
Love Monster energy drinks and coffee a little too much
They also forget to eat too often (Honestly these two are just too obsessed with their professions and have horrendous self care)
They spend a lot of time together cause they are often stuck in the pod
Tweak tried to have some plants in her room but kept on forgetting to water them so they kept on dying. Shellington noticed and gave her some more, and made sure to maintain their health
Tweak secretly prays that shellington will become a better driver whenever she sees him around a gup (not that she's religious, it's just going to take a divine miracle to happen)
During beach days these two would just mess around with a metal detector (That's if shellington isn't messing with the rockpools)
They had adult braces
They sleep-talk a lot
They'd both own trapper hats
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Barnacles and Dashi
leaders tm
These two have lowkey been parenting the crew since day dot
It's giving old man + the girl he decided to adopt
Both are barbs (Nicki Minaj fans) and listen to her together when the crew is out on missions
Dashi was lowkey like his apprentice in leadership during the main Octonauts series. They've spent a lot of time together
They spend a lot of time in HQ and unfortunately, they have to spend a lot of time doing boring paperwork and formalities/incident type of reports. I can imagine them just working on it late at night as boring and soul-destroying as it is cause nobody else is willing (or is serious) enough to do it.
Specifically, AnB, Dashi would definitely feel a huge amount of imposter syndrome in her role, and sometimes Barnacles would see that and just reassure her that she has done the training for this, she does deserve it and that it'll be alright.
Dashi adopted his mannerisms over time, like specifically the little stances. I've noticed she does the little hands-on-hip stance that Barnacles always does in AnB ( I just thought it was kinda cute)
Likewise, I reckon Barnacles adopted some of hers.
Another AnB one, sometimes Dashi would be debriefing about everything that's been happening to get and the stress surrounding her leadership position and barnacles would just be like "Yeah, I get it"
Both of them have matching Sanrio charms (Dashi gave one to him when he started mentoring her)
Would both die for their crew
Sometimes, they do improv practice together
Both are morning people. It'll be like 5am and they're like RISE AND GRIND!!! CEASE THE DAY!!
Really good at celestial navigation (Barnacles cause of scouts/dashi cause of metrology)
They are both heavy snackers (they love having a little munch when they are doing things)
Best huggers
Dashi canonically collects sunglasses so -> sometimes barancles borrows sunglasses for missions (which is amusing cause sometimes she gives him a really silly pair)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kwazii and Shellington
SILLY AF
This friendship is actually so funny to me. Because I remember Kwazii HATING shellington at the start of the series. Specifically in that episode when they both go driving at night (I think?) and Kwazii's just like ugh ho why are you coming like you can barely drive GET OUT. Now Kwazii's out there like "OMG COOL CREATURE SHELLINGTON HOLY SHIT DUDE YOU'D LOVE THIS"
They are lowkey both Batshit crazy when left to their own devices
Would both find each other trinkets that they think are neat
Both of them share a love of learning new languages
Share a surprisingly large amount of info about Greek mythology
The Mayan calendar freaks them out (they take it WAY too seriously)
They both have zero spacial awareness
Sometimes Kwazii tries to act like a smartass around shellington (shellington quickly humbles him)
They would both intentionally eat chocolate bars in the most fucked up way possible
They would both own the most absurd pets
Shellington would casually mention something he's always wanted to see (like a plant or fish) and Kwazii would go out and retrieve it (which is fitting cause it's very catlike). It would probably be the wrong thing most of the time but Shellington doesn't tell him
Granny games would scare the shit out of them
They would've both set stuff on fire during science classes (intentionally (out of boredom) and accidentally)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks for reading all that
