This is a community of LGBTQ+ refugees who are suffering. Recently, some of our members have been jailed for fighting back against people stealing their shelters at night, and they were tortured in lock up. Cases involving refugees, especially LGBTQ+ people, are often ignored or met with violence.

They are deep in the desert surviving on tea leaves and hot water, porridge for the kids, breastfeeding mothers and those who are HIV positive.

Donations will go towards stockpiling food, paying for hospital bills, negotiating with officers and setting up shelters.

✅ What’s something that appears in your fics over and over and over again, even if you don’t mean to?

hm. well i'm constantly retreading the events of canon. mostly because i'm i think a lot more comfortable Putting My Own Spin On XYZ than i am at envisioning like, new events. a lot of my work is a response, directly or indirectly, to other fics or to canon events.

i also frequently tend to take on kind of an airy, detached voice, which i think is a pretty significant weakness. it saps things of punch and personality.

🤗 What advice would you give to new fanfic writers that are just getting started?

this is very easy. write write write write. it doesn't need to be good, honestly it doesn't even need to be fics. if you fucking *tweet* incessantly for a couple of years, you will build your writing muscles. source: i tweeted incessantly for a couple of years and then i could suddenly write 4k words in an afternoon. basically all you need is it has to be coming out of you and it has to be quantity. for example you're probably better off posting than dming someone, although both will be helpful. just get to it. make words come out of your fingers in as large a quantity as possible any way you can.

the other piece of advice i would give is that you should pay attention to the effects other people's writing has on you, and say to yourself okay, how did they achieve that effect. then you should try to achieve the effect yourself, and see how it works.

i really really hate liberals who do volunteering for orgs that help the homeless and then write thinkpieces about how a lot of homeless people are very educated and hardworking and its not at all their fault that theyre unhoused like. even if ur hypothetical homeless person is addicted to every drug abused their whoever commited many crimes and their situation is every bit their fault. no one deserves to live on the street.
