knox - venturiantale, the youtube channel usually consisting of 4? siblings playing gmod together usually. the channel itself was ran by this guy named jordan i think? and his siblings has their own channels. i knew them best for their fnaf gmod videos and their fanmail videos. turns out they were all very christian? and the whole family was abusive and way deep into said christianity if i remember correctly, one of the siblings who left first made a video on it. the venturiantale channel hasnt posted in like 2 yrs and the slow death was kinda sad to see bc he (jordan) blamed it all on The Algorithm.

keating - onma island is buried a treasure chest. ok so basically mr beast made a video talking abt a private island and he buried. a treasure chest for a viewer to find. during the video he said "on my island is buried a treasure chest" but it sounded like "onma" which this one youtuber (pinely) found rly funny. it became an inside joke with his friends (one of whom got a tattoo) which then became a lowkey meme. mr beast even tweeted it so. good lord thats a lot of links sorry there isnt a know your meme page or anything

chris - i dont have any links for this one sorry, im just gonna tell the story and u have to believe me when i say i swear it happened (its very a believable fandom story im sure you will). so back when the genshin impact was still in its fairly early days (late 2020-early 2021) the phrase "hear me out" to refer to characters n stuff started becoming popular I THINK at the same time. so people in the genshin fandom were like hear me out with increasingly more heinous shit. started with characters, then npcs, then enemies, then bosses, then weapons, the stamina bar at one point, etc. a lot of these were jokes or straight up bait but back then (maybe now too - i havent been part of the genshin fandom for a LONG time) people took bait far more often than they didnt. so it became a "genshin fandom bad" gotcha to point out That One stamina bar post.

ginny - $300 junko enoshima wig! sorry for double dipping with danganronpa it was just the first fandom i actually started like. on purpose noting fandom happenings with + a lot of shit happens in that fandom. this one cosplayer who at the time was called snowthesaltqueen / badguyincorporated started selling pre-made (and styled) junko enoshima cosplay wigs for $300. which WOULD be fair (i think? idk how cosplay commissions work) if said wig was styled well or quality at all, but what was ACTUALLY provided was a rly basic wig base and few clips with no note or no nothing, and rly flat. like on purpose. like that was "the styling". also you may recognise this cosplayer for 1) getting in trouble when they did a cosplay photoshoot (danganronpa cosplay funnily enough) in a graveyard, posing ON a gravestone. 2) KILLING SOMEONE. they were screwing around with a firearm and fake pointing it at someone and then they accidentally shot them.

your smile slowly fades as your breath escaped you, your gaze dropping to his strong body, lean and muscular gold arms on display now that he was down to a tank top, veins lightly pressing up under his skin as he kept himself hovering over you. your heart tripped, then halted all together when your eyes fell to his lips, soft and full, still slightly swollen and rosy from your last round of needy kissing.

Aaron T bit his bottom lip expectantly as he followed your gaze and leaned down a little, his curly brown hair slightly falling over his brow as he muttered, "shall we test that theory? just to be sure? for science or whatever?"

His usual snark was quickly tamed for this tender flirtation that sent your brain fizzing too much to process anything besides trying to breathe. it was all so overwhelming that just as he drew closer, his lips to brushing against yours and he breathed your name, you shuddered and turned away, hiding your burning face in your hands.

T chuckled and lay down again, kissing his way up to your shoulder before muttering into your neck, "awww baby! you're so cute when you're shy."

despite yourself, you turned into his chest and huffed, "you're crazy for making me feel like this... isn't Robaire meant to be the romantic one?"

the faint freckles across the bridge of T's nose arched as he blushed a smile and paused a moment, his hand moving to your side before he confessed, "what can i say... you make me feel confident enough to feel vulnerable enough to be like this with you. i cant... i have to keep my energy up with the guys and everything but with you, i just... i can take a break from the fastlane, yknow? i can breathe for a bit. and turns out breathing is good for you so, if im crazy then, you're pure magic, baby."

your heart stopped at his words and slowly, you lifted your eyes from the warm hollow of his throat to his own.

you can tell from his tender, steady gaze that he was being 100% genuine and that alone made you whole body burn like you were a candle.

T just smiled, warm as the summer sun, and bumped the tip of his rounded nose against yours. "youre still cute, bubblegum." and after hearing you finally giggle at the nickname, T took a breath, before beginning to sing his own part of 4Town's legendary love song just for you. his voice was so soft and sweet that you were sure your heart would burst, but managed to hold it together just enough to listen to him as he sang, " 'Cause you have opened my eyes, and stolen my heart.... you make me believe that... love can be art..."

his gaze met yours again, his eyes illuminated with shimmering light-brown drawn out by the soft nightlight beside him. he blushes a smile, kissed the corner of your mouth and breathed the rest of the lyrics into your skin there, "...and i could never survive a minute apart... you are my...."

his voice trailed off as he suddenly felt how hard your heart was hammering into his chest. T's breath caught in his throat as his eyes fluttered in surprise and possibly slight concern, but you were still, motionless as you gazed at the young man you loved more than anything.

"T..." you exhaled, trembling now.

the young singer's cheeks rouged but slowly, he slid his hand up the side of your neck and cupped your cheek. "Baby..."

and then, the small space between you closed... and your lips met... the kiss deepened as you sank into each other again... and everything, all at once, was perfect.

ok so ive watched double like three times its so interesting! i like some of the themes. spoilers for double, obviously

also please keep in mind i havent heard neoplasm yet and i know it adds important context. i will look at it in the morning.

the comic "glitching" along with all the little graphics that comme with it i find interesting. i think it could symbolize the moments of dissociation that happen or the original switch and maybe moments like in meme where he could kinda see what was happening but was confused about what was happening.

and perhaps these little sketches over top of the comic bit could be his own perception of himself in that moment? maybe he really did think he was going to die at some point on this day? idk, just speculating a bit.

i wanna also point out in the screenshot above that parts of him are missing and replaced with a silhouette. that could be another visual representation of that dissociation.

the glitching of technology screens also kinda support this dissociation/forgetting bit. its like his identity is staticky and not really there. (i also find the 2 4 6 8 entertaining).

to me it definitely seems like this alter that committed the murder did it for protection. definitely seems like they care for mikoto and wanted to do anything to protect him from danger.

ive also noticed a lot of eye themes throughout this video, which interests me a lot.

this could support the stalker theory that ive seen going around lately or it could be about something else entirely.

BEST EXPERIENCE : when i first entered the animanga rpc i had a really, really good time from the get-go ngl. for a while, right until my revival in 2024, i was sort of more into the 'western / live action' side of the rp media, and i kept remembering how much of a good time i had in the animanga rpc, which triggered my interest in returning.

my other best experience is basically when i learn from my dearest mutuals then how not to be afraid to project ur muses' voices into their narration, which allowed me to have incredible fun with exercising different mindset and speech patterns and/or different dialects since!

RP PET PEEVES / DEALBREAKERS : uhhh this is pretty specific to my experience and quite particular — thus i hope to elaborate it well — but i highly dislike when writing partners tried crafting our threads into only benefiting / leveraging their own muse(s) rather than it being a collaborative effort for both our muses' character development. this happened to me only ... twice so far ? so it's quite rare considering i've been writing for ten years, but i'm suuuuper sensitive about this.

so for example right, what usually happens is me and my writing partner would talk about our muses and we see common ground and where we could expand on a point of conflict. both our muses then benefit from this point of thread because the narrative we've written ought to challenge their perspective, and this can be driven with angst, drama, whatever genre this can be explored in etc.

now what i'm pointing out specifically is when the writing partner would only try to have their own muse's emotions and challenges on the forefront of the plot, with no consideration to mine, which i think defeated the purpose of roleplaying in entirety because roleplaying especially is supposed to be a collaborative effort for all writers involved. but no, it's their muse's pain that's significant. it's only their suffering that outweighed everyone else's, and my character typically is became an "affirmation" or a "booster" to their muses' experience.

i have a few turn-off's but this one is definitely one of the highest.

MUSE PREFERENCES: oh maaaan, i've written characters from sooo many ranges. typically it's whoever tickled my brain at the moment <333 but lately i do realise i'm often drawn to

(1) outwardly soft-looking people (2) have crazy dedication value; sometimes absurdly loyal to a cause / person (3) most of the time they're brown-haired and/or dark-haired (4) a lot of them give earthy and/or green vibe

and if it's the opposite, it's either someone struggling with their temper and/or have their viewpoint challenged or exploited. don't believe me, check out my western multi as well to see where i'm ticking the boxes. ( i'm on hiatus there but still. look at the muses. )

PLOTS OR MEMES : fuuuuuuck. i'm super bad with first-time plotting not gonna lieeeee. listen, my attention span's crap. my method is usually this: we plot minimally ( usually to establish the timeline and/or where our muses stand ) and then i prefer winging the first thread, usually to gauge the pace of the writing, ur muses' thoughts and/or reactions so mine could bounce off of yours, and then i'd rain in your IM / discord to yap my way into ur heart 🫶 i looove when my mutuals would yap at me right back. i love substances, and i love context. i love knowing what my partners want to achieve or what they're satisfied / dissatisfied with so we can work around that. so yes, thread > plot > memes.

LONG OR SHORT REPLIES : wish i'm a short-replier. born a long-replier. working on making my paragraphs more concise though. that's on my 2024 writing bingo for sure!

BEST TIME TO WRITE : when i want to 💀  and i have no idea when. usually when i'm rested enough so if i'm dead tired on friday, there's a chance i'll still be ghosting the dash on saturday. i try not to........ push myself so hard on my availability, which is why it's important i stress out how i am a low-activitiy blog, because i know that even if i push myself when i don't want to, it won't work. my brain would dead-ass refuse to cooperate.

ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE(S) : i'm definitely flawed, which is something i like exploring with my muses, because i think i've tried so hard since i was 15 to be perfect. that isn't to say my characters and i share the same flaw, but unlike in real life, exploring my characters' area of weaknesses and how that can have its consequences is perhaps a catharsis for me since i could safely navigate it within a narrative i could ( somewhat ) control. it's freeing. writing has always been freeing in that sense.

chapter 8. the biggie. part 1.

it is now i reveal a terrible secret to you all;

you can ctrl+f this chapter and compare it to If-- by Rudyard Kipling. and you will find that every god damn word in that stupid poem appears at least once. there are also a few paraphrased lines in there that you might notice.

WHY???

[i am very bad when it comes to gaging ppl's knowledge of poems i think everyone already knows, so yeah, the poem they're sharing is If- by Rudyard Kipling. easy for me to recognize personally because my mom memorized it all in school and would say it to me sometimes]

this process included me writing the whole thing out by hand, ctrl + f for all of the words, highlighting the ones that i had yet to use, and then keeping the list next to me while editing the first draft

and if you didnt notice this fact at all. that means i did a GOOD JOB!! cause its SUPPOSED TO BLEND IN SEAMLESSLY!!

I have to ask: As someone who used to work in social media and who knows a lot about current pop culture happenings, why was Succession so popular/successful? My parents are OBSESSED with it now, not a day passes where they don’t watch at least two episodes after dinner and I cannot stand it (it’s just not my thing). What makes people love it so much?

so there’s a few things to keep in mind here:

1. there’s a difference between POPULAR and TALKED ABOUT or BUZZY. what you see people discuss online a lot or not isn’t always a reflection of what the majority of people are actually watching, which is harder to measure these days bc streaming platforms hide their numbers, but if you look at places like FlixPatrol, Parrot Analytics, etc, you’ll see certain things that always did well on broadcast, like procedurals and the Simpsons and shit, are still popular across both network and streaming, despite what’s talked about online. sometimes the buzz does intersect, but the venn diagram isn’t always a circle. this is why when people say “why arent people talking about x” or “people talk too much about y” im like well. that’s just what generates engagement online, not necessarily the majority’s opinions or tastes.

2. shows or other pieces of media that encourage sustained conversation in some way will always be buzzy, bc platforms are pushed by engagement, positive or negative. SUCCESSION, much like many other HBO shows like GAME OF THRONES, aired at a time weekly most people in many popular western markets could watch it around the same time and post about it in the same language, Sunday nights, and didn’t drop at all at once so it allowed conversation to snowball and to be sustained. Game of Thrones didn’t have to be good to be popular. It was just on at the same time every week at a good time for most people around the world to watch within a 24 hour period and talk about at once. so it trends or floats to the top and other people see it and check it out. HBO kind of perfected this but doesn’t realize this is one of their strengths, bc David Zaslav is an idiot.

3. A show being well written and made does help! People notice the quality, even subconsciously, and it makes people talk about it more, and ironically word of mouth matters more now than ever bc we have infinite entertainment choices against TV. When something is good, it stands out, especially bc late stage capitalism has ground people with any talent or creativity into dust. BUT the content of the show (or any piece of media) itself also has elements that will ALWAYS make people talk about it online or otherwise, which pushes engagement (and things like GOT and Euphoria did too)

- terrible people we can all hate together

- controversial shit we can fight about

- moments that are shareable (either good dialogue as memes or crazy visuals from action scenes)

- in the case of Succession and GOT, a finite end point to argue over and speculate about. Who will inherit? Who will sit on the Iron Throne?

4. specific to Succession, this is a show about the media, and nobody loves that more than people who work in the media (i would know), who also happen to be the majority of people pushing conversation online and also writing reviews, so that’s what trickles down to regular viewers. as somebody who has been fucked over by millionaires in media many times, watching those bitches fight amongst each other can be satisfying. (Succession isn’t my thing either but I can see why). even if you don’t work in the media, in a time of a widening income inequality gap, watching rich people suffer and be assholes to each other is very fun. it’s why Knives Out is fun. or Real Housewives. or even Game of Thrones (bc half of them were landed gentry).

all that being said, the reason your parents like it may simply be that they knew a lot of people with similar tastes talking about it, checked it out, and it’s a well made show so they got hooked. combination of timing, word of mouth, and quality filmmaking barely ever happens but when it does you get a good show that’s also popular (Abbott Elementary is also a great example. these are exceptions to the rule, where most pieces of media struggle in one or more of these fronts.)

15. Have you ever shipped at first sight?

I think I answered this one for truedairship but I don’t mind getting them more then once : ) basically yes, I will ship cannon pretty easily, a show presents me with a pairing I like and I will ship it, occasionally I will ship characters who are friends in cannon though because I just think they would make a great couple.

20. Talk about a ship you feel alone in shipping.

Probably Kate/Will, but mostly because I think everyone seems to have a hate for Will,😆

I mean even I have hate for season 4 version of Will but I really liked him in the first couple of seasons and I think him and Kate would have made a good couple, I think they would have driven each other mad being used to opposite sides of the law in how they do things, but I like to think it would have been one of those slow burn gradual things where they just slowly grow closer. Plus I keep seeing all these looks they give each other when I rewatch episodes witch I am now reading waaaaay to much into 😅

22. Which of your ships have the best chemistry?

Teslen is probably at the top. Helen and nikola both have such great personalities and it’s never dull when they are on screen together.

Helen/john have great chemistry as well but when I say that I mean pre-Jack John, but I also love the moments in the series that hints to what they used to be like in Haunted you get little glimpses and you can see how much Helen still cares.

I want to say Helen/kate as well but it’s more I like the AU fic them because on screen I see found family Kate and Helen but off screen their such an awesome pairing and I love them! If that makes sense.

31. Talk about a favourite headcanon for a ship you love.

I have a few I love for the Helen/kate AU im working on. It’s a sailing ship AU and I like the idea that when ever Kate and Helen meet up, when their paths sort of cross they end up sitting on the top deck watching the sky, they do it so often that even when they go their separate ways they continue to do so in the late afternoons not even knowing that the other person does it also. It sounds kind of cringy but I love it.

37. Do you have a favourite trope and/or AU for your OTP

Yes!!!! Im repeating myself a little bit but I love this AU. For Helen/kate I have a sailing ship AU, I want to say pirates but they are not really pirates, just branded as pirates because of how they live and what they do. Helen is the captain of a ship which the crew has come to call The Sanctuary many of which are abnormals hunted down by the rest of the world because they’re misunderstood.

Kate is also the captain of her own vessel but she is a business/thief and basically she was branded a pirate and is also being hunted because she doesn’t care who she does business with and she has traded and helped Helen.

It’s sort of a set In a world where there is a never ending war against abnormals under the pretence that they will come after you if you don’t get rid of them first, the world kind of evolved to have the country’s navy’s as the leading power and Helen sort of ended up captaining a ship never staying long in one place because no shore is safe.

I hope all that makes sense, I don’t think I’ve explained it very well but it is my favourite AU for Helen/kate.

Disclaimer: I’m not saying that if you find out about something from a popular trend, tiktok audio etc that that’s bad or your a fake fan or anything like that, if anything I think that’s a good way for these creations to finally get the attention they deserve! My rant is really about how underrated these things are even though they shouldn’t be and how I wish they were more popular not about how people find out about it, I apologize if I come off rude to I mostly just exaggerate for comedy and I hope not to offend anyone 🩷 let’s get to it!

I’ll be more than happy to reply and wing it and start developing something from there. this one:

love me some soft supportive almost-coming-out scenes. i always thought it was interesting that mike's outburst ("its not my fault you dont like girls!") while horrible and with some pretty awful timing... seemed to imply that... what? he noticed will has no interest in girls? he realized that it wasn't just that will was a late bloomer but something more? theres a lot of subtext there i really wanted to dig my claws into

will's always been the target of homophobic bullying as seen in previous seasons, and altho we never see the kids comment on queerness one way or another, so it seems like there HAD to have been some serious math going on mike's bratty little noggin about will's sexuality at one point? but despite growing up in a family that most likely would have frowned on those inclinations, to say the least, mike kept his questions to himself and kept being will's friend, whereas someone else might freak out, or be more confrontational or simply slowly stop being around a suspected gay person without an explanation. so playing on the dialogue after ("look, im not trying to be a bad guy" or something along those lines) i sort of wanted to expand on that headcanon a lil and kinda lean on mike wheeler's "screw the rules, i can have more than one best friend/ i like you so i will now die for you" personality

5: What part was hardest to write?

the last chapter right now I'd say part 1 of the epilogue (aka chapter 13)! mostly because it explores an aftermath that we didn't see in canon, with a bunch of ideas i had that were pretty vague and hard to make cohesive, and season 4 hadn't been mentioned much at that point so i had no idea what to expect and was kinda stressing out about deviating too much from canon. but i really had a lot of fun with putting all the scenes together and im really proud of it now

7: Where did the title come from?

from a song called revolution by misterwives! particularly the lyrics, "all these acts of violence, ripping this world to shreds/while I'm trying to sleep, oh how could I sleep?"

i thought that particular verse was pretty fitting to the whole theme of the fic (esp the whole ripping the world to shreds bit as a metaphor for the gates opening hehe) and so thats why i made it the title!

9: Were there any alternate versions of this fic?

kjhgjb uh not really? from the start acts of violence was always meant to be a fic that was going to run parallel to canon bc i do not have the energy to go fully canon divergence with this particular idea and wanted to work on some other projects like wavelength besides. akdfjdsdkgjsd it was always meant to be a sort of practice fic, almost!

but i will say that for chapter 13 there was a moment where i wanted to make mike's awakening with nancy and karen (and sam owens) to be in a military base away from hawkins, on the basis of his leg being infected with extradimensional alien bacteria that a normal hospital would have no idea how to treat and the government would want to keep a close eye on. that however felt like one plotline too many to introduce and resolve when the fic's so close to ending so i cut it out and only left some of those bits in (ie: karen's confrontation with sam, mike developing an infection, etc)
