I’m still not over Deadpool & Wolverine: WWIII. At all.

(Spoilers, also cw for blood and gore and just. Weird imagery)

There’s SO much stuff that happens in this comic, way more than I am posting here, that really digs deep into why Wade and Logan are so intertwined. They both suffered horribly. They’re both near immortal. They’ll both outlive everything they know. They both have rage that doesn’t ever seem to go away, they just have very different coping mechanisms.

This comic LITERALLY intertwines them, in more than one way.

First example is the one most people talk about, which is the whole thing where Logan cuts off a chunk of his own leg and cooks it for Wade so he has at least something to eat (is it gay to make the decision to cut off a piece of yourself and give it to another man so he has something to eat, even tho you both technically don’t need to eat, it just helps? Who knows)

Second example is the end of the comic, which I wish more people would talk about. While they’re fighting a big bad, Wade gets torn apart. Like… crushed. Into pieces. Past the point where Logan thinks regenerative healing can save him. And Logan is, despite all his complaining of how much he doesn’t like Wade, destroyed. Scared, and as the big bad points out— afraid.

Logan then goes into an absolute blind rage. He’s in pain. He’s scared. He genuinely thinks he lost Wade, and he loses it.

All the while, a small voice can be heard telling him to stop. Begging him to stop. He’s lost control. The antagonists of the comics wanted this, and while Logan is thrashing around they intentionally teleport him in front of a mother and child, fully expecting Wolverine to not tell the difference between friend or foe and kill them. Logan certainly cannot tell what he’s doing at this point. He can hardly see.

And then…

Suddenly, Wade. Because some of Wade’s blood got into Logan, he literally grew OUT of him, just in time to stop him from murdering innocent people. Because Logan had fully lost control. Wade pleads with him to stop, and in the end he literally pulls out one of Logan’s bones and shoves it into his face to get him to actually snap out of it. Afterwards, they have a lot of really good conversation, but to avoid clogging this post more— tldr Wade calms Logan down, and tells him “Nobody can decide we’re monsters but us.” Which… I love.

Later on after the fight, there’s this funny panel (and a few before) where Wade’s like dude we are sharing your ass AND dick rn isn’t that crazy and then yeah he makes the comment about being “in” Logan which. Nice

Anyways crazy b/c by the end of this comic, parts of Logan have literally been inside of Wade (chunk of Logan’s leg eaten by Wade) and ALL of Wade has been in Logan (he fucking grew out of him)

"Five, and if you keep pushing, I will give you nothing at all." Shang Qinghua slammed his book closed, the threat like a sharp knife being held over Wei Qingwei's dreams of a new forge.

"The Immortal Allience Conference is coming soon, I need a new forge to make new weapons," Wei Qingwei said as if his argument couldn't be refuted. Better start sooner than later, right? Even stubborn Shang Qinghua couldn't find fault in a point like that!

"Wei-shixiong," The An Ding Peak Lord rubbed his hands all over his face, smearing ink on his cheek as he gave the biggest sigh Wei Qingwei ever seen someone give. "I understand your frustration and your anxiety to start things now, believe me, I know," Shang Qinghua gestured at his entire desk, a chaos of papers and parchments, some of them covered in numbers so tiny it hurt Wei Qingwei's eyes to look at them for too long. "But as you can see, everyone wants a head start, and as we have discussed, many times I may add, the Immortal Allience Conference budget will be given next year. And is no one's fault-" Then he paused, mumbling something suspiciously like "but your own", only to continue with a smile. "That your disciples blew up a forge. Again."

Wei Qingwei crossed his arms, tapping his fingers. It annoyed him to no end that his lie had been caught before he could use it, but something nagged on his mind that the money wasn't actually the problem here.

He had heard... Stories. You see, blacksmithing could be really boring. When you're waiting for a new ore shipment, or when one had nothing to do besides polishing metal (hehe) again and again, what one could do besides gossiping? And the last big whisper among his older disciples had been too good for him to ignore.

Long night meetings with Zhangmen-Shixiong, visits at odd hours to a certain bamboo house, doctor's appointments in the middle of the night while being perfectly healthy... One had to be stupid to not connect the dots.

The quiet as a mouse, shadow of twelve peaks, Lord Shang Qinghua fucked. And he must be pretty good at it if the types like Yue Qingyuan and Shen Qingqiu came back for more.

Another thing that wasn't hard to see was how stressed the man looked. To be honest, Wei Qingwei doesn't remember any time Shang-shidi was not stressed. Maybe it was because they met only during meetings. Or when he went to ask for money. Hm.

What Qi Qingqi said? Something something vinegar and bees and honey? Maybe he should try another strategy.

"This one would like to apologize to his Shidi for the insistence. But maybe I could bid on a final offer?" And Wei Qingwei didn't curl his finger on his hair because he wasn't that shameless, but he wasn't ashamed to pull his sleeves up to show off some muscle, leaning forward to let his outer robes slide just enough to show his clavicle.

Shang Qinghua stared.

"Very well, a final offer," he agreed and then proceeded to pretend to organize his desk, taking a glance or two at Wei Qingwei's neck.

"Shidi goes back to his first ten percent advance deal," Now Wei Qingwei knew he was laying on too thick by Shang Qinghua's snort. Still, he didn't back off, winking as he said: "and I can craft something special for you."

"Hmm..." Shang Qinghua moved more papers around, pulled his collar as he took another peek at Wei Qingwei's chest. "I do have some projects in mind that would require Wei-shixiong's expertise..." He hesitated for another moment, slowly laying back until his back hit the panel behind him, one of his hands going to his sword, playing with the tassel like a cat about to catch a mouse. "Also, it's been a while since I've polished my sword. Would Wei-shixiong consider putting that in his offer as well?"

The next day...

"I swear to Heavens, your hair is possessed by something. What did you do to make it so knotted?" Qi Qingqi was being delicate, mind you, she would never be less than gentle, but she also couldn't resist pulling the curls a little bit stronger than she would. Served Wei Qingwei right for making her spend an entire morning taking care of his curly creature.

Also, Wei Qingwei's dreamy sighs were starting to annoy her. He was acting worse than her teenage girls!

"I went to talk to Shang-shidi yesterday," he said as if he wasn't almost vibrating to share how did it go.

"And?" she rolled her eyes, pulling her comb just enough to make him hiss. "By the look on your face he agreed on giving you more money."

He started laying back on her, but before he could ruin all her hard work on the lower part of his hair, she hit him with the comb. And it was a testimony of how smug he was that his only reaction was to laugh, eyes creasing into two half moons, smiling like a sly fox.

"He gave me something alright."

She stopped mid movement blinking once then twice, mouth opening in a surprised gasp.

"You didn't."

"Oh I did."

"I can't believe you did it."

"I can't believe how huge is his-"

"Stop!" She hit him again with the comb, and then a second time. She didn't need that image in her head the next meeting, thank you very much!! "Shut up! I don't wanna hear it!"

"Ow, ow, alright I'm sorry!" He apologized but kept laughing, no, not laughing, giggling like he were about to kick his feet and start making plans for a wedding.

She loved him, but. Ew.

"How is he that good?" She wondered out loud when they finally calmed down and went back to controlling Wei Qingwei's hair. "He looks like he's about to faint half of the time, and the other half, he's crying about us being mean to him."

"I have no idea, but he's growing quite the reputation. But it does make sense after you think about it. And!" This time she couldn't hold him in place, Wei Qingwei turning around so she could see him wiggling his eyebrows. "Explains a lot why a lot of lords were blushing last meeting. You know the voice he does? The bossy one?"

She dropped everything to cover her ears, closing her eyes as well so she couldn't even read his lips. "I don't wanna hear it!!"

That send Wei Qingwei into another fit of giggles, throwing his head back while covering his face with both hands.

Qi Qingqi didn't understand, honestly she didn't want to understand. But her best friend was having fun, so if she sent a blessing on Shang Qinghua's way, that was between her and the Heavens.

We all want to paint our cars. Not only would they be restored to new, their pockmarks, rust, door-dings and various other ailments removed, but our society also has a romantic view of the heroic auto painter. Who could forget the immortal Clint Eastwood movie Hot Cans, Varsol Nights? In reality, painting mostly involves sanding, and the parts that don't involve sanding are all masking.

Masking tape: it's something you can buy at the hardware store. We've all used it, although those of you who are using it for respiratory protection really need to read the dictionary. Perhaps its greatest use is to keep paint from getting onto the places where you don't want paint to be. For instance, the windshield of the car you're painting would not look good with a new coat of Ford Mystichrome. Impedes vision, at the very least, and wastes materials.

As a result, every paintjob involves applying four to five entire rolls of masking tape to a car. That's just the tape: recent works coming out of my slow-motion hoarding problem of a shop have involved newspaper, old political-campaign signs, and even a black garbage bag or two. If I were smart, I would have gone to work at a masking tape company instead. At that company, I would no doubt ascend to eventually become the Vice President of Making It Remove Some Of The Supposed-To-Be-Cured Paint When You Take It Off I Swear This Is The Expensive Kind, and could afford to just pay someone to paint my harem of Porsches for me.

Speaking of removing it: half the fun is in the pull! Have you ever turned to your significant other and said: tonight I want to handle a football-sized chunk of sticky paper covered in wet paint, and try to fumble it into the garbage can without kicking up any dust on the floor? The thrill is in the chase, though. Sometimes it leaves behind a beautiful, sharp tape line, instead of ruining weeks of work. At least nine percent of the time.

When you're out there tonight, trying extremely hard to replicate the exact curve on a quarter panel using some pieces of tape, make sure to say thanks for the existence of that tape. I heard our ancestors just painted the whole damn car with a brush, because they didn't have any windows. Imagine how hard life was for the glass installers back then, not getting a free couple of bucks stripping forty dollars in Ford Mystichrome paint off a freshly-painted windshield.

i think this is a picture daniel took of armand in the 70s. now in order to get a picture of armand that is not perfectly planned and coordinated you 1) need to actively not think about taking a picture of him 2) ambiently think about taking a picture of him for a long enough time that he assumes you won't actually 3) be quick as hell getting your camera out. lucky for daniel he is one stubborn motherfucker and he is also determined to have something physical to hold onto. armand gives him lavish gifts and shit but daniel wants something that he can hold physically and say hey motherfucker ive got a piece of you. cant erase yourself now. armand was pissed off but he got over it soon enough bc daniel just earnestly 1) is afraid armand's going to leave him 2) genuinely thinks armand is beautiful. daniel kept it in his wallet and armand took it with him when he left. modern armand keeps it in a scrapbook with the rest of the photos of him and photos of daniel and photos of the pair of them and clippings of daniel's articles and tickets to a panel daniel spoke at and he gets a little teary-eyed looking at it because that picture was the first time in however many hundreds of years that someone had wanted to immortalize armand's likeness not just because he was there or because they wanted him sexually but because daniel genuinely thought armand was gorgeous and liked spending time with him and wanted to have a piece of him to hold onto

somebody from the théâtre des vampires (but not armand. someone else) took this one when louis had someone buy one of his photos for the first time. louis was being all bashful and shy but claudia was genuinely so proud of him because this is a hobby that is (in her eyes) uncorrupted by lestat and she really thinks he's moving on and starting to establish a life for the better. louis took the photo because the guy he fed on that night was high and louis thought if he took a picture of his lestatlucination he might look at it the next morning and find out that lestat is real and hes back and hes not going to abandon louis again and they can all be a happy family. louis cried the next morning when he looked at the picture and it was just an empty courtyard, because even though logically he "knows" lestat is dead it was really nice to pretend for a while. he put the photo up for sale under some emo ass name - probably like "donnez des mots au chagrin ; le chagrin qui ne s'exprime pas tricote le cœur anciennement forgé et l'incite à se briser." which is long winded as fuck but that feels like louis' speed. anyway that's a shakespeare quote translated to french which i do Not speak fluently enough to be sure im doing it right so here's the english: give sorrow words; the grief that does not speak knits up the o-er wrought heart and bids it break.

this is a photo one of louis' victims (it does not matter who) took of him. maybe this is in new orleans idk i just know what louis whispers in my ear from the astral plane. anyway louis was doing his usual flirty shtick and showing his date (victim) of the night some of his photos and they asked to take one of him. louis keeps the photo because it reminds him of lestat and it makes him feel sick to think he had a piece of lestat in him and he didn't even realize until he saw himself from someone else's eyes. he ends up hanging it up in their house in dubai and doesn't explain to armand why he likes the photo so much and why he's hanging up a picture of himself in their shared home. he doesn't know how to explain that he doesn't have any photos of lestat and this is as close as he can get and having photos of claudia and claudia's things hung up without anything of lestat's makes him sick to his stomach because all he ever wanted was a happy family just like his sister's and he feels like if he just did a better job of keeping lestat and claudia happy he could've had that

this is post-turning era for sure. daniel is doing promo stuff for interview & him and armand are attached at the hip + armand is a mischevious little scamp so it's a very short leap for people to realize that the "rashid" from interview and the "rashid" daniel molloy is real-life "sugar daddy-ing" are the same person. armand ends up telling people they changed real rashid's name to protect his privacy and daniel named the character after him bc he's a closeted romantic. daniel absolutely resents this implication and protests it heavily but unfortunately when you're being defensive over allegedly being sappy towards the guy paparazzi have photos of you tonguing on the subway the people are not inclined to believe you are telling the truth. anyway this is an online interview daniel was giving and armand was puttering around the apartment in the background (bc hes a motherfucker & he knew exactly what would happen) until the interviewer asks if daniel can call "rashid" over to answer a few questions. they have like. two. for him. it's mostly just content farming bc every time daniel & "rashid" are being gay on film it gets 7 billion retweets (half of which are accusing daniel of being a cradle robber but ah well all press is good press). "rashid" answers the questions and then sits in on the rest of the interview just gazing at daniel and occasionally piping up to be pedantic and correct something

this is a picture that got taken at some event armand dragged daniel to. possibly staff were taking pictures of all the guests as a momento. armand mussed hair + tits out at formal event are bc these homos were making out in the back of the cab on the way over. armand can just. make the cab driver ignore them. and daniel Loves to take advantage of this fact. anyway i think we can all agree armand likes to dress daniel up like a barbie doll However daniel holds onto his ratty ass t-shirts with every fiber of his being and armand loves to indulge him so they settle on a blazer over the t-shirt. armand is whispering to me from the astral plane that this is some kind of party(?) in which case they're sneaking off like. halfway through the night. to go make out in the first unoccupied room they can find. and then also in the cab on the way back to daniel's. and then also in daniel's apartment for a couple hours. i think armand is honestly more into kissing and making out than he is sex bc that's something that happened very rarely (if at all) at the brothel so it is something that's uniquely His and He gets to make all the rules and figure out what he likes to do and he doesn't have to deal with pre-conceived notions (and ptsd symptoms)

i think louis is pretty open about being the same louis from interview, so he gets a decent chunk of publicity for it. he goes on tour with lestat i think & he picks photography back up in a big way taking photos for his concerts HOWEVER he also takes a lot of photos of lestat just around the tour bus and in dressing rooms and wherever else he can get lestat to sit still long enough bc there's a part of him that's still afraid he's just hallucinating lestat & if he has pictures of him he can prove that lestat is real and he's still there. at some point some reporter ends up getting like a behind-the-scenes of the TVL tour & they have to cut out like an hour of footage of louis painstakingly showing them every photo he's ever taken of lestat. that is his sweet baby angel and you WILL sit down and let him pull out the photo album

daniel announces he's gonna write a book abt lestat as a sequel to interview while lestat's on tour so they end up doing some kind of promo together and they bring their velcro boyfriends. this is a reporter interrupting what is essentially a team huddle about a different vampire that is planning some kind of attack or other dastardly deed. louis was on the periphery of the bickering so he was able to hear the reporter coming up and he wasn't too caught off guard. lestat is thinking about which of their bones will make the best mantlepiece and daniel is arguing with him about it telepathically bc this picture wouldnt even have been Taken if lestat didn't drag them all over here to whisper suspiciously as hell so this is Clearly all his fault. armand is suffering. "you see what i put up with?" he asks the camera. he's waiting for a break in the daniel-lestat catfight so he can interject with a harebrained scheme

Anonymous asked: youve finally gotten to the section of the comic that makes me tear up everytime i read it! vriska is such a polarizing character but i have nothing but empathy for her. i do think she cares about her friends, even if shes awful at showing it and her attempts do more harm than good. Specifically i DO think she cares about karkat- she shows a begrudging respect for him throughout the comic and even says he maybe is the most human of them, which is something she is starting to admire herself even if she wont admit it. I think if vriska didnt care about the others in her sad, warped-by-child-abuse way, things would be much different. Jack bringing the bodies back and her being visibly enraged by it- i think thats grief. more than that i just find her quest to kill jack so sad. It really reveals to me how fucked up she is- she repeats so many times that she knows survival is unlikely, that she knows her immortality wont save her, but that its something she needs to do anyways. Vriska isnt actively suicidal- but shes passively okay with dying if its in a way where she can accomplish her goals. She wanted to be absolved of all the bad things shed done (even if thats not how it works). And- just as much- she wanted to save her friends. and terezi. The person who wants to not be a killer anymore but goes down the path anyway because the timeline says she must, because her own lack of a future is breathing down her neck. Who was the person vriska cares about most on that meteor, even if she is horrible at showing it. Terezi is the one to kill her. They were best friends! They were both thirteen years old! And its narrated by the man who literally groomed vriska and who she views as being a predator to her!!!! Most heartbreaking death she couldve gotten. Fly high in those dream bubbles queen

Maybe I spoke too soon, when I asserted that Vriska probably didn't give a shit about Karkat. They might not have had many on-panel interactions, but they were co-players for over six hundred hours. We can't say definitively that they didn't bond at all.

I guess the issue here is that the trolls' social group consists of sixty-six unique relationships, and we simply don't have time to explore them all. We know that each troll isn't necessarily buddies with every other troll in the group, and I could list plenty of pairs that almost certainly aren't friends. I can't imagine that Nepeta was particularly pally with Eridan, for example, and I don't think Aradia and Gamzee were hanging out offscreen.

All that said - if any troll is friends with the entire group, it's probably Karkat. His only real conversation with Vriska was that argument about quadrants on LOPAH, but there was a moment in one of the walkarounds where she agreed to put her plans on hold for his sake, which was a surprisingly kind gesture for her. Plus, you're right, she does think he'd cut it better as a human - and that statement hits differently when you remember she's low-key jealous of humanity.

As for Scratch... yeah, his treatment of Vriska, specifically, is nothing short of disturbing. She clearly hated it whenever he showed up to text her...

...and, uh, now that I'm actually thinking about it, the guy only ever seems to manipulate girls. The only male Player he's even spoken to was Karkat, and that was only three sentences. This guy was born from a nightmare - and he certainly acts like it, the creep.

I guess I've been loitering about this for too long

I've always thought of Nevy as of one of the smartest and cuning demons in the cast. Instead of terrorising her vessel or beign their doormat, she formed a strong bond with Gil. And I was thinking it is genuine somewhat mother (or like older sister) love from Nevy to our lil salty blue boy.

But... from this panel, I've started to doubt her.

Most of the fandom at that time was worring that the pink lady is becoming weaker and/or growing sick. But even then I was thinking that being the ghost of one of the strongest creatures in the universe, how is it possible for her to be that weak for such a short period of time as like ~13ish years?

Gil is the only person she has met who can interact with her. I can't really blame her for beign pushy: he and his promise to help are the only thing she's got, and she as practically immortal being has seen how weak he is, and his life is short. Nevy really is on a timer with him.

But what seemed to me as her caring about Gil, now feels like Nevy thinking only about herself.

Gil, as a victim of terrible catastrophe decided to become a doctor to help others like him. It was natural for him to go and help those who were in need.

Now this moment doesn't feel like her genuine sadness and guilt. I think, she just needed a reassurrence, that she is still the most important thing for him in the whole universe.

Still, I've thought that Nevy has developed a new more honest and loving personality while being amnisiac. And she changed that much because she remembered a lot of her past.

But did she?

I think Gil will never get out of toxic cult. Yes, he does have someone who is more important than TITAN as Michelle said.

It's Nevy, who's not only a politician.

And she's not ashamed at all to use religious imagery to influence Gil even more.

She's not ashamed to show a very lonely orphan boy that she, his only friend with mother figure vibes could 'die painfully' because of his disobedience

Also I find it sus that Nevy remembered the feeling of beign in love not near Ava, Wrathia's vessel, but near Pedri's vessel, Odin.

I'm sure she sees herself as the God of love, Venus, Aphrodite or even Eros. People of Antiquity era believed that love and passion were forms of madness. In a bad way, even gods feared Eros.

And I think she's forcing Gil to fall in love with Odin just to make him even more despirate and lonely, to save her status as the only reliable thing for him in the whole Universe.

At that point Gil was trying to become the best follower, just to have a chance to learn somethig about Nevy's past. Maggie was the first person in 8 years to remind him, that he might have his own questions.

And I think Nevy has already failed her vibe check to Odin

Chapter 1148 spoilers

Robin, ROBIN, ROBiN, roBIN!!! MVP in this chapter (along with a little help from Scopper Gaban/Gyaban.

I was impatient, so I read spoiler summaries ahead of time (no pics), which is always a bit of a shame, but Oda still let Robin run loose, even though immortals will be immortals.

First, "on ya" Ronya follows one of Gunko's arrows to the abyss over the underworld. BUT, I think she'll fall, and we all know who will catch her.

Gods' Knights want the library burnt, and everything in it, to save Ronya. The library that has all the books from Ohara.

Robin tells Chopper to remain safe in the hair of a prone Saul (beaten by Sommers' barbs). As for herself, she needs to have a piece of him, and Robin is calculated, cool and freaking formidable.

We haven't seen her break a neck for a while, I think (did she break Black Maria's?).

Also, Ripley's joining the fray! Yay. (But they're not incredibly close to Robin's group).

You really don't want to be voicing your suppression of culture, community and culture when Robin's around, cos she's got that

"Clutch" move going on, and I can't wait to see this one animated, so that I get a clearer idea. AND, I'll post the stuff that came before it (cos' it's got Robin in it).

Robin's well aware of the danger she's putting herself into, thanks very much, Jinbei! Then, Somer's regenerates and Robin and her fruit tip him way over a cliff edge, almost into the abyss.

Somers is a full-on skeez, and Nami's actual love for Robin is so goddamn pure or fun or something. Love it! (First panel above).

Robin, looking beautiful, gains Somers' praise and also a thorn or two, including straight through her skull. BUT!

it was all a scam! Clone Robin. Look above at how he pierced her clone though! Straight through the skull and cheek. And, they can't get the bandages off the Strawhats (look at how Brook's banadaged up. How did that happen?)

And Nami's head over heels in love! But who wouldn't be? I guess the panties jokes wear off after some time.

Ronya's about to sacrifice herself, and Nami can't take it (understandable). And Oda is so good with the goddamn pathos:

Poor baby girl (but it will be. Either she'll fall on Loki, or Luffy will somehow catch her).

So this goddamn smiling bastard (Sommers) forces Jarul to set the school on fire (and I think the library as a matter of course), which causes Robin to weep. OMG, Saul too. Ahhh, my heart. And Anje, the teacher/librarian?

CHARLES DARLING WILL BE THE FINAL ENEMY besides Helen. Trust me on this one I swear they wouldn't have brought him in if they didn't have plans. ALSO the mother of the Mann triplets (Bette Mann neé Darling) was RELATED TO HIM HE'S RELEVANT. I'm so convinced he's the one Helen made a deal with and he's going to make a grab for Mann Co.

We'll get to see Bilious Hale in a flashback and find out what happened to him. Bilious Hale, oh guy who punched coal out of mines and sat on John Wilkes Booth while other people shot at him, my beloved. I hope they don't reveal he was a bad father or anything.

A woman is nice to Ms Pauling for once and she gets a smooch. She deserves it. Hopefully it won't be a smooch from Helen (DAMN YOU 4CHAN LEAKS), the old lady's had her hired since Pauling was in her mid teens.

WE GET HORSEMANN LORE! this is just wishful thinking on my part the Horsemann makes me insane. Shout out to Silas Mann fr. If he doesn't show up, I hope they at least acknowledge or reference him. I swear they had plans for him back in 2010. Which they then immediately abandoned in favour of developing Mann vs Machine.

Build up to and cop out on Pyro face reveal. The whole thing of Pyro's character is the mystery, so I think the funniest way to go about a face reveal would be for us to only see the team's reactions and have them all react very differently e.g. Scout vomits, Demo gives them the thumbs up, Spy starts taking horrified notes, Engie looks vaguely lovestruck, Saxton Hale expresses annoyance that they aren't actually *insert obsucure species of something here* like he thought.

CONAGHER LORE!! By which I mean Engie shows up and has a chat with Fred about Radigan and immortality and whatnot. Fred has to have been spared from the bloodshed for a reason, right?

Classic Medic shows up! Or they confirm he is dead. Or they confirm he is Pyro which is a funny theory I read once but sincerely doubt. Maybe they'll pull a Bea and have him have been a girl the whole time.

I have a crackpot theory that Helen/Elizabeth is actually Bette Mann (again, mother of the Mann triplets), and while it's unlikely to be true, it would genuinely be so funny if I'm right so WATCH THIS SPACE. My main reasoning is Helen started her Australium search the year the triplets were born, aka the year Bette DIED, and also Bette is a nickname for Elizabeth. Also also it adds to my theory that she will team up with Charles Darling, who is, as I've already said, related to Bette.

Olivia gets to do something important also. Saying this bc she's mostly been a prop so far. I'm manifesting a sideplot where she summons the Horsemann to beat up Charles Darling for her.

Merasmus returns! Last we saw he was arrested, but Jay Pinkerton really likes his Soldier/Merasmus interactions so chances of him coming back are high.

There will be a joke like "geez it feels like it's been seven years since we beat grey mann" and a panel where everyone just lets that process before going back to plot stuff

Chances are, a new comic after so many years means there will be new writers, and the fandom has changed quite a bit since the last one. There will be SUBLIMINAL SPEEDING BULLET SHIPPING. I know he's thinking of the heteromorphs that stopped that day. But i just. can't get over the fact that it was Spinner's call to action that inspired them first to even come out.

I know the intention is de-escalation or something. And that's a good thing! Ideally I don't want the man holding the rake to be smashed into the ground. But the word peaceful here feels like it implies that... it would be victim's fault if they use force to resist violent discrimination. Equal responsibility on all parties and it's up to Shoji, it depends on Shoji to resolve it nonviolently. The originator of the violence doesn't enter the equation.

Did Shoji resolve the heteromorph riot peacefully? Not really. He fought Spinner (ah, you might say - well, Spinner was using violence! Shoji has to react to that with punching as well! Yeah. That's what I mean.) Koda had birds shoved someone off a building. What actually stopped everything was one rioter feeling doubts. It's credited to Shoji's words, but Shoji also admits that it's good they showed up and in the chapter here, he calls it an "uprising".

And they showed up because of Spinner.

Well. Maybe Shoji turned to "peaceful resolves" afterwards.

Just to clarify so that no one misunderstands me. Peaceful resolutions are good. I'm glad that's how Shoji is stopping anti-heteromorph incidents. What I dislike is the shallow framing.

"Quirk Counseling Expansion Project" EXPANSION???

Toga became the way she was because she didn't go to Quirk Counseling enough. Needed Expansion. The counselor saying she'll make Toga "nice and normal" didn't go far enough. Needed Expansion.

Again, I get that probably reform is implied in that, or the intent is probably expanding the concept/ideas/tools/methods/scope to include better methods. But wow.

All Might + Crowd of Supporter Statues is the creepiest thing I've ever seen.

Story literally breaking the ending fourth wall to give a happy ending to Deku.

I expect the volume extras to have Shigaraki to come and decay the ending and rescue the league.

It's amazing how the answer to "can someone quirkless be a hero" is a NO. Because Deku's feeling sad and lonely being quirkless and just a teacher and saving a kid from tripping and encouraging a future student. It's not enough. It's not Heroism. So he gets a support item and gets to be a Hero again

And then Shigaraki's Star Wars ghost is just there, not tied into the theme happening on page because Deku failed to saved the fucking guy, but he remembers Shigaraki. for one panel.

Just to repeat this because it's hysterical: This ending is "Can a quirkless person be a hero (and be happy and feel worthy?)" We get a gentle bittersweet but resounding NO. Until All Might comes again to help him out with a 'gift'.

"Remember that day when I used support items to inject acid into an immortal child demon on global TV? The day that you killed a man? Well, data from that day made you this support item. Use it to be a Hero."

Also being a quirkless Hero after all depends on knowing people and having lots of money.

Shigaraki ghost...........

Something about shigaraki in his original outfit has me all choked up.

That's the appearance he chose to present as in the vestige realm before he disappeared.

The appearance he had in that flashback of him and Spinner bonding over games.

I like how Deku looks back, sees the ghost, but then turns forward and smile. Not even a smile as he's looking at shigaraki. I know this is nitpicky. jfc tho.

"You already destroyed it"/"That depends on what you guys do from now on." I see that there's barely any credit to Shigaraki forcing this amount of change in this chapter. As far as I can see, Deku barely thinks about Shigaraki or even Tenko this chapter. Shigaraki's just a ghost hidden vaguely in all this.

"I'll never forget" lol. The ghost is just like an afterthought from the story to make sure Deku keeps his 'promise'

I don't think a single villain's name is mentioned here. Not a single League member's. Uravity's work towards quirk counseling is not publicly or explicitly credited to her experience with Toga (the vaguest of implication). We don't know Dabi's fate and Shouto is only known as "Endeavor's son" - which might be good? because it's Endeavor's who was the main perpetrator, but still. Spinner lead the uprising but Shoji doesn't mention that. Spinner wrote his book but there's no impact, except for making Compress smile sadly and that's it. Twice has been long forgotten. Deku thinks of Shigaraki's words at the beginning of the chapter, then sees his ghost at the end, but otherwise, nothing.

Truly they've been swept under the rug. A lid put over everything.

I'm doing @batmanisagatewaydrug's 2025 book bingo card! Thank you to him for these wonderful prompts. I intend to fill the card and update every five books with what I've read! I won't always be this quick, my semester hasn't yet started. Under the cut will be my thoughts about the books I've read so far.

Up Next: At some point I'm gonna reread The Name Of This Book Is Secret by Pseudonymous Bosh which was a favorite of mine when I was a kid. I'm also notoriously Not a romance reader amongst my coworkers, and have inadvertently formed a book club to read Cubs & Campfires by Dylan Drakes in February.

My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness by Nagata Kabi is the memoir I read. Initially this was going to be my graphic novel/manga pick and I was going to kick the can down the road for memoir since I don't tend to enjoy them, totally forgetting that Graphic Novel Memoirs Exist And I Own One. This one was fun! I have wanted to get back into manga, and this was a decent place to start. I liked the color palette a lot, although I found the paneling overall very straightforward, the art often replicating what was going on in the text. The story and the journey Nagata went through was really compelling, her frankness was eye-opening, and I really valued hearing her insight on getting oneself to grow for yourself.

Friday Black by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah is the collection of shorts stories I chose. I've had it on my to read list for a while since the last story was mentioned by one of my favorite essayists. It was brutal. The stories really have stuck with me, they're very heavy reads with very little hope, the final stories being the most hopeful of the lot. I really enjoy stories about cycles of violence, and there are a wide variety in here with different points of view, some of which are excruciatingly uncomfortable. Hope isn't often present which makes the spots of it really pop out more.

Boy Island by Leo Fox was recommended to me by my friend and coworker-librarian. They've been getting back into comics while I've been easing away from them for a while. My friend and I have been talking together about being both trans and librarians and tired and frustrated at the world. This book helped remind me I need to get weirder I need to remain freaky as shit in the face of wanting to be The Good Trans Person That People Can Accept Right? (Wrong).

Drowned Country by Emily Tesh is the sequel to the final book I read in 2024, Silver in the Wood, which I loved and ended up crying over. I'm not immune to bears (gay). I have nothing but ire for this sequel. I cannot recommend it. The melancholy ending of the first book? GONE. Fun voice of the bear-huntsman-immortal-man who is very soft spoken and contentious? GONE. Worldbuilding? BROKEN. Just read Silver in the Wood and be done with.

Harrow the Ninth by Tasmyn Muir is my science fiction book. HOOOOOOO BOY. I read Gideon the Ninth last year in December and I already feel like I need to reread both of these. Muir does such a good job tossing you in a world and being like Figure It Out, Sucker! The second ish person point of view. CRAZY GOOD. Had me slack jawed multiple times. Still kinda doubt that I fully understand what was happening at times, especially now that we have complicated bloodline stuff, BUT I'm havin' fun. I love bones. I love weird flesh stuff. I love whatever the fuck is going on with God. One flesh one end.

Krakoa Era Reading List Cherik Version (part 5)

8. X Lives and X Deaths of Wolverine

A lot of rapid fire plot stuff and time travel fuckery. Centers around Wolverine, Jean, Moira, and Xavier and established some essential stuff for the following volumes. There are no Cherik interactions in this arc at all, but it may be necessary to skim through for plot reasons. Thankfully it's relatively short with only 3 volumes, combined into a single omnibus.

After this point the reading order gets super fucky so I'm trying my best 😭 Yes, there are reading guides that go issue by issue but I'm not keeping like 20 tabs open with all the different titles and switching between them.

9. Legion of X (Issues #1-5)

Mostly just Legion and Nightcrawler hijinks. Charles is in a scene interacting with his brother and David in a way I found pretty funny. Magneto does not appear at all in the first five issues, everything after that point contains major plot developments that are covered in Immortal X-Men, A.X.E Judgement Day, and X-Men Red.

10. Immortal X-Men 2022 (Issues #1-4)

The start of Professor X and Magneto's divorce era Krakoa edition 🙃 Magneto became disillusioned with the concept of Krakoa after everything that happened in Trial of Magneto and Inferno. Then a lot of conflicts happen one after the other and everyone's mad at each other. They are separated so not many shippy moments, but the initial breakup is worth reading:

You can read this one up to issue #4, after which I recommend reading all of A.X.E. Judgement Day.

11. Hellfire Gala: Immortal

Charles is in a single panel and that's it. Some pretty big villain!Moira stuff happens but idc so I just skimmed through it. I didn't read it so idk where it sits timeline wise but I think it's skippable.

12. A.X.E. Judgement Day

The entirety of the Judgement Day arc, happy to say that this one is only 6 issues instead of sixteen 🙃 You get a detailed explanation of major developments that are echoed in the rest of Immortal X-Men, Legion of X, and X-Men Red. You can read this one first but you won't get the context for certain things that are mentioned in passing. No Cherik interactions, unfortunately.

13. X-Men Red

Basically what Magneto and Storm have been up to on Arakko after Mag retires from the Krakoa council. Some really badass moments and I found the difference in Arakko and Krakoa culture to be super interesting. You also get to see Magneto's final words to Storm (about Charles), and later on some pretty intense Charles angst as he attempts to cope with Erik's permanent death. Tbh at this point I'm getting pretty tired of going back and forth between different titles so I read this one all the way through. Of the 16 issues only issues #1-11 have Cherik bait, with issue #11 specifically dealing with plot points from Sins of Sinister. I THINK if you want to read in the correct order you can read up to issue #10, read everything Sinister, and then go back and read #11. Everything from that point onwards in X-Men Red is Arakko and Storm-centric.

14. Immortal X-Men (2022) (Issues #5-10)

The conclusion of the Judgement Day arc and the lead up to Sins of Sinister. I really enjoyed the dynamic between Mystique, Destiny, and Sinister. Charles is called annoying a lot and Magneto's death is mentioned multiple times. Then some more unexplained developments are shown which I need to read the other titles to get context for. Great. Don't worry about Dr. Stasis or Nightcrawler's horns just yet, because by issue #10 there's a whole lot more to worry about. After a very cool monologue from Xavier we get a direct lead in to Sins of Sinister.

15. Legion of X (Issues #7-10)

Charles being a bad dad saga continues! Whole lot of twists and mysteries that are not resolved by the end. I think a lot of people will be frustrated by Charles behavior here, but to be fair he is likely being influenced by something/someone as shown in immortal X-Men. I find legion's storyline to be interesting so I didn't skip anything, but there are no Cherik ship bait-y moments aside from Charles generally missing him and being lonely.

Idk where this sits in regard to Sins of Sinister, but seeing as Nightcrawler has horns and Charles doesn't have a diamond on his head, it likely sits somewhere between Immortal X-Men #8-10 on the timeline. Or simultaneously? There's a lot of timeline fuckery happening. I'm honestly so confused.

16. Sins of Sinister

Gotta be honest I didn't expect this one to be such a complicated read. Basically X-Men Red, Legion of X, and Immortal X-Men all build up to this single issue, at which point there's a whole new series of titles to read set in this Sinister-verse. Originally I planned to cover the whole sinister business in this post but it's a lot so I'm gonna cut it here. I think that Sinister is genuinely very funny so I do plan to read it all.

According to this helpful guide on reddit, I seem to be on the right track. There are a LOT of titles going simultaneously for this period in Krakoa history, covering branching plots for Wolverine, the Marauders, Sabertooth, and more. I'm mostly concerned with plots having to do with Charles and Erik, so I'm not going to bother with those (maybe I'll check out Sabertooth idk). The important thing is that I've read all the primary interconnected titles: Immortal X-Men (*only up to issue #10), A.X.E. Judgement Day, X-Men Red, and Legion of X.

Honestly there are a lot of great moments, which makes it even worse that this is such an awfully complicated experience. I wish anyone attempting to read it all good luck and I hope this post is even remotely helpful.

No Chapter 21 Boruto TBV Does Not Confirm that Boruto x Sarada are End Game!!!

So, the new chapter of Boruto TBV is out and a Game Rant article published yesterday says that it confirms that Boruto x Sarada are End Game, but it DOESN'T.

The only way this chapter would be remotely close to confirming that Boruto x Sarada are End Game is if it confirmed that Boruto has feelings for Sarada.

At this point, we are much closer to confirming that Konohamaru x Moegi are End Game that Boruto x Sarada (which I don't think they are) than Boruto x Sarada.

Now does this mean that I don't think Boruto x Sarada are End Game. No. It just means that Ikemoto has put more evidence has put more evidence into confirming that both Konohamaru and Moegi and feelings for each other than he has put into confirming that both Sarada and Boruto have feelings for each other (specifically, Boruto).

Now, if you have not realized that Sarada has feelings for Boruto yet then you are living under a freaking rock. You are someone who does not understand subtext even when its incredibly overt and you need things spelled out for you.

So, far Sarada's feelings have been confirmed multiple times through overt subtext. This chapter just used a giant flashing sign and canonical confirmation to say, "Yes, you are not seeing or imagining things. Sarada does have romantic feelings for Boruto!!!!!"

Now, why am I not jumping up and down and declaring the two of them to be End Game and destined to live happily ever after?

Umm... because do you see that whitish-blue haired man in the top panel on the left side? His name is Mitsuki (if you forgot) and he had his own chapter devoted to this phenomena back around chapter 12. It actually took up a good part of the first half of TBV.

In this part (section, series of chapters) Mitsuki had an entire conversation with Eida in which he admitted to being ROMANTICALLY IN LOVE WITH KAWAKI but he realizes that in his mind KAWAKI IS ACTUALLY BORUTO.

Throughout the series, Mitsuki and Sarada's feelings for Boruto are often compared with one another. Mitsuki at times sees Sarada's feelings for Boruto as being more legitimate because she's not a synthetic human. However, Sarada recognizes that Mitsuki has the SAME type of feelings for Boruto that she has. Therefore, whenever you talk about the intensity of Sarada's feelings for Boruto or the romantic investment of Sarada's investment in Boruto that is directly mirrored by Mistuki.

In a way, the question is, will Boruto end up with Sarada or Mitsuki? I'd argue that if Boruto is immortal that he will end up with both of them at different times. He'll end up with Sarada first and live out the duration of her human life with her, and then live out the rest of eternity with Mistuki (who is likely also immortal).

Sumire and Eida are romantic interests in additional to Sarada and Mitsuki, but they are like tag-alongs who really can't lay claim to Boruto. Had it not been for Omnipotence, they may have had the chance to build report with him and get to know him better. However, now that he lives his life in the shadows, I believe that will be far too impractical. I think for that reason Sumire and Eida will only ever be able to love the ideal of Boruto and vice versa.

I have been losing my shit over this damn panel for the past THREE DAYS (more or less) and I need to yell somewhere so it's gonna go here.

It all began when I was writing my fic (I think this was for My Immortal), and I needed to recap significant hakukai moments. And I remembered "hey, I should include this one thing saguru said during sunset manor that was stupidly super gay for no fucking reason" bc like, yea hakukai not canon, but if canon was gonna give me a whole ass confession then I might as well use it. So, like always, I head to mangadex to look for this panel... Except... It's not there... The line... The line's not there... But I remember... I remember something about "the only one to disrupt/disturb my thinking/mind"... Where... I didn't imagine that right? I mean I read a lot of google translated Chinese fanfics but... I REMEMBERED reading that line... In a manga... In English... ON mangadex...

This is where I should mentioned, that if you weren't around for the Great Collapse of Mangadex. Then... Well, so there was this period of time where mangadex just DIDNT EXIST. Bc there was some cyber?? Attack??? On the site??? I can't fully remember. But it like wiped out most of the site. The mangas r just, gone. So mangadex fixed it. It took a while bc they figured "might as well revamp our site and system". And they did. And it's great. And it looks beautiful now, even more than before.

But see. The line I remembered? Yea... Yea that was from before The Collapse. And mangadex let multiple translation groups submit their translations. So u can read diff translations of diff group, see how things are interpreted differently... And... I remembered this one, that I posted here up top, but I remembered there was another. One that had The Line.

And it was driving crazy so, like usual, I asked my cn friend. But my cn friend (why am I still saying that, it's @beingvv , that's the friend) has A Life, and isn't always online, and we love that for ppl. So. I'm still crazy. I can't trust my own damn mind and memory bc why tf do I remember something that isn't there (happened before btw, but that has nothing to do with this).

Luckily, I have a friend who knows jp. UNLUCKILY, I don't have the jp raws and it's from chapter 300 and we are in the thousands. So, I went back to losing my mind. Until I found it again, and realized. Heyyyyyyy there's a whole ass ANIME. So like the baggage my dear friend had the misfortune to be saddled with, I went to find the ep, timestamped it, yelled begged them for help.

This is where I lose my damn mind the first time in the recent weeks.

They pointed out that gosho used specific words/phrases that really wasn't needed if all he wanted to say was "the only one who drives me crazy/mad." But he did used them. It's specifically "his thoughts/mind" that's being driven crazy. And that if he wants to just talk about Saguru's mind being disrupted/confused, then there's rly no need to use the words "go crazy"

So this was one of the only ways I can read mangas. But, even as I checked the raw panel with Google lens just now, even google translate it as "the only one to make my thoughts go round." No where was there any mention of "case" and "solving." So that's just, multiple accounts of ppl who knows jp, including native jp speakers, all saying that this panel is Saguru saying "the only one to drive me crazy". And man I rly hope this doesn't make me come off as ungrateful or like shitting on the translation team, I'm rly not. But yea. Uh. The translation was wrong. And I remembered that there used to be a diff eng translation. And it led me to go to all this trouble and journey to find out what was actually said. And here we are, at the end.

What’s going on with the God Tier Clock, isn’t it a juju? How come when Slick whacks it with his crowbar it doesn’t have any temporal effects like destroying it’s affect on the timeline or destroying it’s time loop?

When Caliborn breaks it, it releases time energy, but somehow the clock is repaired I guess by the time of Midnight Crew? Unless Yaldabaoth takes it from Scratch’s office or something? But I feel like it’s the other way around. Also wouldn’t destroying a Juju just create a new timeline where the objects temporal effects don’t exist, and erase the old timeline?

the comic never seems to suggest that's what the destruction of a juju does, so i see no reason to believe that's what happens.

i see where you're coming from with the temporal energy; english's safe releases temporal distortion when pried open with the juju breaker, and so does caliborn's god tier clock... but i think you're being misled by the assumption that "temporal energy" is the same as the rainbow energy which caliborn calls his "CLOCKWORK MAJYY. MAYJYJ. MAKJACK." i believe it's more helpful to think of the rainbow energies that emerge from the broken clock not as generic time energies, but rather an enchantment that is specific to the clock. when a god is reborn, the clock and the god both shimmer with a rainbow aura; similarly, when two cherubs engage in their mating dance they become immortal, because they flash with the same rainbow energy "perme8ting all those endowed with immortality." (when you put those two panels side by side, it's clear to see how the cherubs' mating form was probably inspired by the crocodilian motifs found on the clock.) so the rainbow stuff is best thought of as immortality energy rather than time energy. the page where we see the fully-realised Handmaid using that rainbow power is even the same page where we learn that she has been cursed to immortality.

a timeline, meanwhile, can never really be erased: temporal energy can have a destructive effect on the physical surroundings, but its primary temporal effect is ultimately just to make it possible for the new timeline to grow to replace an old one. (...so maybe there is something to be said about how temporal energy and immortality energy serve essentially the same function? but as far as the visual language communicates, we should still think of them as distinct from each other.)

assuming for the sake of argument that the magic clock IS a juju because it is primarily interacted with via the juju breaker: slick hitting it DOES have an effect? the clock's "effect on the timeline" is that it shows whether a god is going to be resurrected or not, and when you nullify that enchantment it stops doing that, which is exactly what you should expect to happen. the fact that the egg timer, biscuit oven and god tier clock all come back without much fanfare is all the proof we need that the 'jujus can't be destroyed' rule remains true even taking the crowbar into account; some other version of the juju will simply take over as the 'real one'. when caliborn smashes the clock apart, it nullifies the effect the enchantment has on him, but as you say, he still needs that clock as part of his decor later in the timeline, so it obviously isn't gone forever and it remains true that no juju has ever really been got rid of.

What are Terra and Marky’s dynamic with Abraham and Mary?

Terra & Abraham

These two are so funny to me because it's heavily implies, if not canon, in the comics that they were a thing for a while.

In her Fandom Wiki, it states; "As a young adult, its heavily implied she was at least sexually involved with Abraham - son of Dupli-Kate and the Immortal - if not dating him."

And in the comic panel below, specifically the middle one, is where I pull my headcanon of Abraham being able to multiply himself.

The thought of Mark disliking Abraham in a 'you are not good enough/stay away from my daughter type of way' has me ROLLING! Overall I think the two of them have an 'On again-Off again' sort of relationship dynamic. Something straight out of an MTV drama, but neither is aiming to emotionally harm the other. Abraham is the only reason (besides visiting her grandma) that Terra bothers to come visit Earth on her own time. Perhaps, a few centuries into the future, they find their ways back to one another for good.

Mary & Marky

In my heart of hearts; these two are my OTP. Aside from the fact that I think it'd be hilarious if Mark had to worry about BOTH of his children being with one of the Cha Twins; Mary and Marky would be good for each other. A good 'childhood friends to lovers' type of story. Mary would bring out the most of Marky's humanity, keeping him anchored to Earth and reminding him of the beauty it has to offer. Marky would encourage Mary to push her powers to the limits and be the best/strongest version of herself she can be on the battle field. He would also love to take her off world and show her the different fashions that other galaxies have to offer. Immortal and Kate both love and approve of Marky as if he were another son, so they give their blessing without question. Best friends and soulmates.

Marky & Abraham

These two are so cute. Between growing up together and going into life-or-death situations everyday; Abe and Marky share a strong bond. Abraham is one of the very select male figures in Marky's life that the Viltrumite would follow without challenge or question (the other two being Scott and Immortal). Half of Marky's wardrobe is really just clothes he's stolen from Abraham during sleepovers. Marky also relies on Abe to help him think rationally when his emotions get the better of him. In turn, Abe relies on Marky to pull him out of his own head when quick decisions need to be made. Great together on the battle field.

Terra & Mary

The dynamic between these two is simple and slow. Mary is friendly towards Terra (as she is with almost every everybody) but that's as far as it goes from Mary. In turn, Terra is civil with Mary whenever she is on Earth. Both mostly act as such for the sake of Abraham. Later on in life, I think Terra would make the first move into trying to build a genuine friendship with Mary; since she feels as though Mary is one of the very few people in her life that does not put her on a pedestal because of her birthright. Mary would be open to such and would love to be one of Terra's first real friends.
