To each their own, and maybe I've just been bad at finding people, but I wish I didn't so frequently run into people who think Joey is just this lazy dumbass. I don't know, I just get a little down seeing him portrayed as too incompetent/lazy/etc to be helpful as if he'd be like that 24/7.

So much of his character, depending on how you consume Yu-Gi-Oh, has to do with how he's trying to improve and be seen as a worthy opponent, worth respecting, etc. He works his ass off trying to prove himself. He works multiple jobs supporting himself. I just don't see him as lazy personally.

If anything the closest headcanon I personally can get to him being lazy is that he's tired and maybe trying to play it off as laziness? Because being seen as Iazy wouldn't get him pitied at least. And he is shown to not want people feels bad for him.

I don't know, in my opinion his canonically low self-esteem, actions, etc don't match up with the idea that he'd be this constantly lazy person I often see him portrayed as. His entire relationship with his sister shows he's hardworking in my opinion.

This is a man who consistently jumps into danger for loved ones. Sometimes when it's not even necessary. Burning buildings, nearly drowning himself over cards (which I have my own headcanons and stuff surrounding why he behaves this way if anyone is interested), etc. A man who is said to work multiple jobs supporting himself. Who went through like 3+ money making schemes trying to fix his life over the course of season 0, etc. I just do not see him as lazy personally.

If you like portraying him that way I'm happy for you, keep doing what makes you happy. I just hope to run into more stuff that shows his other traits. It just feels so sad to me that he's working so hard to improve and then it feels like a good chunk of the fanbase sort of ignores that to some degree.

thinking abt howards insomnia. we never hear about his mom so what if she wasnt there when he was a kid so what if that’s what started it all. and then it got better and then his dad pushed him to become a lawyer and then it got worse again, and so his dad got chuck to mentor howard and his insomnia got a little better, things made more sense now. but everything feels wrong? at the same time? and he just kind of keeps pushing through it until one day his body just shuts it away and suddenly he’s howard hamlin, partner at HHM, and he’s got a wife and everything is Fine and he hasn’t slept for more than 5 hours a night since he was 22 but its Fine because he’s howard hamlin, owner of HHM and chuck is always staring over his shoulder- he’s his mentor after all- but it’s Fine. and then chuck gets sick and its just howard in the office and...for the first time- very briefly- things are quiet and..peaceful. and he gets a full night’s rest for the first time in decades and he feels free. and then..chuck dies. and suddenly everything starts to crumble and howard doesnt know what he’s doing anymore and he jjust lies awake at night alone in bed without his wife in a gigantic house that’s way too big and he thinks about everything on earth that he’s done wrong and oh look at that it’s dawn and he’s only slept an hour and thirty-six minutes. he gets to the office, and he’s shaking. his therapist tells him it’s just nerves- not to think so much about sleeping. a watched kettle never boils. it works for a while, until it doesnt. it works until people at the office start whispering about how he’s addicted to drugs, that he’s compensating for his wife’s absence by filling the empty time with whores and prostitutes. he cant find the original photos on his desk and he stands there shaking and sobbing because why cant he sleep? there’s a gun to his head and howard finally gets to sleep undisturbed. the salty sea water feels nice on his soul, and he feels free being rid of landlocked new mexico.

Another note I forgor to mention is I love how after hearing Simon go "it's enough to make your hair turn white" about Martin's office in s4 many of us collectively agreed his hair turned white because of his association with the Lonely. The shared consciousness is real and we use it to play hot potato with the communal brain cell dedicated to the sillies.
