so you’re telling me that grace chasity put together a plan originally to harm the reputation of max jagerman but instead max was so brave he fought off the “ghost” and “skele’on” and really enjoyed this plan. that it was the nicest thing anyones ever done for him. grace chasity unintentionally gave max jagerman the nicest gift ever and you’re gonna look at me and tell me they’re not soulmates?

So, I might've seen it on the starcanwrecked confessions blog, but someone said that Nerdy Prudes "didn't hit as hard" and didn't feel like it fit with Guy and Black Friday because it didn't have that theme of want and I am here to debate that.

Nerdy Prudes Must Die absolutely has a theme of want. Pete's first solo is about how he doesn't want to be a loser anymore, how much better all would be if he was even slightly popular. He's said "I want to be invisible" but really he wants a world where he doesn't have to be invisible to survive. "All my life, I've just wanted a girl to like me" and now he has that. Pete wants a lot of things, things that aren't insane to ask of the world and he's one of the only ones that got them.

Grace doesn't understand her wants and needs and thus results in accidental manslaughter. Something in her wants Max and she's terrified by that because no one ever taught her how to deal with it. In the end, she can't. She can't deal with it and now she wants to enact the word of her god. She wants to punish the pervy dudes of the world.

Richie -much like Pete- just wants to be even slightly popular. He wants friends, he doesn't want to be alone. Yes, he's a slight nihilist, but he doesn't want to be a loser. Along the same lines, all Ruth can talk about is how she wants someone. She wants to be seen, she wants to be touched, she wants the spotlight, she wants eyes on her but it makes her physically ill to be perceived, so she can't have what she wants.

Steph wants to be out of the spotlight. She wants her dad to get off her ass and maybe even treat her like his daughter for once, she wants equity, she wants to keep her friends safe. And, as we all know, she wants Pete. She wants genuine affection, she wants someone that sees her as Steph and not "The Mayor's Daughter". She doesn't want that publicity because she doesn't care about it.

And, of course, Max. He has a god complex, he wants it all. He wants the popularity, the control, the look of fear in the eyes of those he deems inferior. He wants Grace Chasity, he wants what he's told he can't have. He wants to kill those nerdy prudes.

Nerdy Prudes Must Die is entirely about want, it's just not as overt as it is in Guy or Black Friday. The Hatchetfield Series is, ultimately, about greed.

OKAY here is the completely nonserious percy jackson npmd au thats been taking up space in my brain for weeks now because it simply needs somewhere to go:

New campers-

Stephanie Lauter:

I'm not overcomplicating this one: Steph is a daughter of Aphrodite

Solomon Lauter saw the hottest woman at some party where he was campaigning, and he’s is nothing if not ‘passionate’ and successful (by design) so it worked out

As far as Steph knows until her teens her mom ran off on her dad when she was a baby, and that’s fine, she doesn't give a shit, she’s never looked into it

Until, when she’s sixteen (because somehow she’s made it this long) Grace Chasity starts a rumor, her dad sends her to Abstinence Camp and the monster in the woods chases her right into camp halfblood

She gets claimed pretty promptly and Is Not A Fan

She’s thinks it’s pretty sexist and conceited and stupid and problematic for a whileeeee and refuses to look into it any more than ‘pink and pretty and misogynistic’ which like, doesn’t go well for her but she’s nothing if not stubborn

She’s fluent in French because of her mom but she doesn’t know that until she gets to camp and is genuinely so pissed off that the one school subject she thought she was good at isn’t even on her own merit

She’s got some vague appearance manipulation stuff, and once she realizes she does she exclusively uses it to change her hair color and make her eyeliner look good

She’s probably like camp way more if she knew about it earlier but the combo of her had having kept it from her and who her mom is and all the stupid games/worship expectations piss her off and she bails on most of the events/training/campfires out of spite

She definitely uses some close up weapon like a dagger or short sword

Grace Chastity:

Grace is a daughter of Ares 

(Her finding this out goes very poorly)

Im ngl i feel like somehow Ares ended up with Mark Chastity, I refuse to examine this thought but i think Mark Chastity had his first gay experience and woke up the next morning with a baby there somehow because Ares thought it would be hilarious and wanted to see what would happen

She gets chased to camp with Steph from Abstinence Camp and is fucking livid, the whole thing is insanely scareligious and ridiculous and everyone there is going to hell and she is so heated that Ares, once again thinking it’s really funny and slightly proud, claims her on the spot

Grace Chastity is out here with her sacreligious two gay dads

She really resents specifically who her dad is because in her head she is made for peace and love and spreading the word of god, she hates the idea of war or violence on principal, so she spends a lot of time at the strawberry fields or Pegusus stables because she does really like the flying horses :)

She refuses to take place in any camp activities or training and all her siblings hate her

At a certain point she’s able to harness a level of odikinesis (enhancing feelings of hatred and war) and it doesn’t go well

Chiron honestly is forcing her to stick around because he’s REALLY so very nervous about how the fuck it would go to have Grace loose on the mortal world right after she finds everything else

Her weapon is an axe

Okay so forgive me for my special little blorbo-fication of my guy but:

Pete’s a son of Nyx

He super fucking shouldn’t be, there aren’t demi-god children of Nyx, just monsters and minor gods, but him and Ted were kind of just… thought experiments? Like she was bored and very curious so she took a really shitty human and had a child with him (Ted) and then, in what Nyx’s head was barely any time at all but in human years was straight up 18 years, has another one (Pete)

Ted raises Pete for a couple years, but children of Nyx in general are just bad omens, and human children of Nyx who probably shouldn’t exist are no exception, so they get hunted down by monsters hard

Ted dies or disappears by the time Pete’s ten or eleven and he ends up at a camp

He’s a year round camper and lives in the hermes cabin because obviously Nyx doesn’t have a cabin (look okay i know that percy fixed that, but that bit of lore where any unclaimed or minor god children live at the hermes cabin is so fucked up and rife with angst and hurt/comfort potential is too much for me to resist so this is a universe where percy jackson does not exist)

His luck is horrible, like it’s a magical demigod ability how horrible his luck is and he’s well on his way to systematically having broken every single one of his bones one by one, they know him so well in the apollo cabin

NO ONE (and I mean NO ONE) likes him and he’s considered a camp wide jinx so he takes one for the team and personally exempts himself from any team events like capture the flag because no one is willing to have him on their side

A lot of newer campers generally assume he’s an Athena kid because he really enjoys learning/strategy/by-the-book stuff because it’s a lot easier than trying to get involved with the more dangerous athletic shit 

Because his mom is the goddess of night he’s very into outer space

His weapon is a bow and arrow, but he’s pretty good with most range weapons/anything that he can calculate aim for 

Ruth Fleming:

Ruth is a daughter of Demeter and she’s pissed about it

Her dad told her about being a demigod a couple years before she went to camp but he didn’t know who her mom was so she got very very into greek mythos and shit and was convinced she was a daughter of Athena or Aphrodite or someone else nine-year-old-girl-cool and was fucking devestated when it was the goddess of farming

Like, she’ll do all the things she’s expected to (helping in the strawberry fields, weeding, etc..) but she’s going to complain about it

She doesn’t even have any cool powers to go with it!!! it’s so unfair >:( 

She’s also involved with the camp’s theater department and is convinced it’s rigged against her because of who her mom is in favor of Apollo and Dionysus kids (in fairness…. it probably is) which is why she’s always stuck on tech 

She’s definitely got a crush of Richie’s dad

She’s a summer only camper for sure, monsters don’t hunt her down for any reason in particular or en mass so she can get away with it and fight off the ones that do, but she does kind of take offense to the fact that even monsters don't want her (even if they’d just kill her) 

Her childhood greek mythology obsession carries over so she knows every dumb little detail about every myth and will bring it up unprompted

Her main weapon is just a celestial bronze sword but i feel like when she first got to camp at 12 she bribed a child of Iris to change the color of it so it looks like… rose gold lmao

Richie Lipschitz:

Richie is a son of Dionysus

And sure, okay, I know what you're thinking: that doesn’t really fit…?

But to that I say oh boy it does, just not for Richie

For his twin brother Trevor however– 

Richie is kind of like the black sheep of his cabin, not that there is many of them, because his brother is perfectly cookie cutter what a Dionysis kid should be (he’s a theater kid, he throws good parties, he’s generally popular) and Richie is not

They both started camp at probably 10-ish, a little earlier than traditional because there were two of them which drew more monsters

His eyes are violet though which he thinks is very cool so he dyes his hair purple to match them

He sorta-kinda has chlorokinesis, specifically for grape and strawberry vines, which a. he also thinks is very cool, and b. he uses as an excuse to get out of training so he can hang out with Ruth

He's also really good at swimming and trying to work up the courage to ask his dad if he'd possibly be able to grant him the ability to turn into a dolphin but just like... only when he wanted tot and he could turn back

He really wishes his was an Apollo kid (though, obviously he’d never say that out loud) because of the artistic stuff, so he sort of just tries to gaslight everyone that because his dad is the god of the Arts that includes physical art like drawing so obviously that’s why he’s good at it

He’s a summer-only camper too but for the dumbest reason; their parents gave the twins a choice, but Trevor wanted to be able to go back to school to do school plays and Richie can’t watch anime at camp so they chose summer only

His weapon is just a normal sword but he’s campaigning to get a child of Hephaestus to make him a Katana

(They’re all three kind of outcasts in terms of their own godly parents, because Ruth and Richie don’t really fit the mold of ‘normal child of [blank]’ and Pete’s kind of just generally disliked because of his parentage, so they all sort of came together as friends out of necessity but now they’re just actually buddies and they hang out)

anyway who knows if ill do anything with this but its FUN and id love to talk about it forever they're just little demigod losers I love them

So I’ve seen some discourse going around on wether or not people think Mark and Karen Chasity are abusive/controlling parents to Grace as an explanation to why she has all this religious trauma. And while people can hc whatever they want, I’m honestly on the not abusive side. Keep in mind, we don’t know a whole lot about Grace’s parents, only what we’ve seen so far, so it makes sense on why everyone is speculating. But judging by what we have seen, I don’t think they are abusive. However, it is clear that both Mark and Karen think highly of Grace, and with that comes high expectations. In my personal interpretation, I have the feeling that they either unknowingly or knowingly put high expectations on her, raising her to be a really good Christian, but not in a condescending way. And then some time down the line, Grace wanted to make them proud and this is why she lives in constant fear that God (and her parents possibly) will disown her.

With that said, people do need to realize that Grace can have religious trauma without her parents being one note abusers. Trauma comes in many forms, it can come from mostly healthy families just as much as unhealthy families. And the thing is…..just watch the scenes of Grace with her parents. They LOVE her so much and treat her kindly, to the point where I can’t help but laugh at the abusive headcanon despite the fact that Grace flat out said the words “butt sex” and “head” and all her parents do is kindly ask if she’s okay and make her a bath….like…come on. I feel like people took the “no moan household”- line to an extreme. Grace probably has rules she needs to follow but I really don’t think she’d get disciplined badly for breaking them.

meanwhile max actually does love her and probably is just so sexual about it bc he doesn't know how to express romantic feelings so he just expresses the sexual ones. or maybe allosexual ppl just think like that idk I'm aroace

it would be intresting to read smth act her learning to accept the sexual aspect of herself but assuming she's romantically attracted to max so they start dating and she just doesn't love him at all. like she feels fine with the sex but outside of that their relationship is really lacking. max starts to feel like he isn't getting as much as he wants out of the relationship but he doesn't know how to express it bc 1)he doesn't knoe how to express emotions in the first place and 2) on paper he is getting a lot out of it through the sex. meanwhile grace feels awkward holding hands and kissing and doesn't understand why she does since she is fine with the worst sin ever (sex outside of marriage, or maybe just sex in general if she does decide to marry him before doing it. in which case it would lead to another layer of conflict of feeling they shouldn't leave each other over smth so "small") but not like holding hands.

idk if this makes sense but if anything like it exists then drop the link lmao, i might have to make it myself now cause I'm invested in this plot that probably doesn't exist.

I absolutely love your Grace Chasity analysis - I feel like lot of the fan content for her doesn't really get her dual nature as both victim and monster (especially as regards Max - I swear, if I read one more fic/hc that basically boils down to ''having sex with Max would have fixed her!'' or another take on ''Grace was never one of Max's victims!'' I'm going to simultaneously learn to tap dance), and seeing you so neatly summarise how her arc works was so interesting and brought up a lot of angles I hadn't considered. Grace's plot is absolutely the main draw of NPMD for me - she is The nerdy prude! She puts the plot in motion! She draws it to a close! She manages to introduce a brand new source of conflict at the end when everything seems like it's wrapping up! I love how she is both Final Girl and Monster in this narrative, truly the character of all time. I feel kind of like Pete and Steph are there to be the Normal People I Can Relate To, but unfortunately Starkid overestimated how normal I am.

Also, my own (probably over-)analysis of the dinner scene in the show - the fact that the ''carrying books'' thing is seen as overstepping her boundaries by both Grace and her mother while her father is more dismissive of it, and talks about how he did the same thing to her mother (who again, thinks it's an invasion of Grace's boundaries) - it seems like it might be commentary on the contradictory things that are expected of Grace as a Good Christian Girl. She's expected to be pure and chaste and get that dance cancelled, but when Max harrasses her (while she only mentions the book offer, both she and her mother are visibly uncomfortable with it), it's brushed off and told that it's something normal that happened to her mother before her, and she later mentions marriage as something that she's just expected to be okay with as an inevitability. Sorry for rambling, I love this character

ohh that's a really good observation! you're absolutely right, there's a vibe that as long as it's someone else pursuing her and not her pursuing the sexual herself, then it's fine. even though she didn't like his advances, it's brushed off as not a big deal. the boys get off scott free while the girls are held to a much higher standard. damn.

a lot of these are heavily headcanon-centric and i wanna preface that before i get into it bc i know some people may not agree!! thats fine!! i just like thinking these silly lil things

starting off strong, i really am a sucker for the 'two [ or more ] characters that one actor/actress plays are related on some level' concept and i believe mark and duke are cousins bc CAN U IMAGINEE

theyre cousins on their moms sides but their moms dont really get along due to differing views and ways of parenting, but mark and duke are pretty close. theyre each others favourite cousin

mark and karen are both gay in opposite directions but they were very close friends growing up due to overlapping social groups (their parents, church groups, most likely abstinence camp goers, etc), and because of their respective families and being unable to be true to themselves, they got married and had grace very early after they graduated highschool

mark loves karen very much, but purely platonically. he is the type to tease her, sometimes poke fun at her, and he respects her immensely! they both work insanely well as a duo, and they hold down the fort of their picket fence home extremely well, but they are not in love

he n karen live a very domestic life, they can even be pretty physically affectionate at times [ hugs, cuddling, kisses to the head, cheeks, hands even ] and share quick 'i love you's before separating for the day, but something about it was always just slightly askew from romantic love and affection

circling back to highschool, mark and ted definitely had a secret on-again-off-again relationship for at least a few months to a year.

they inevitably fell out because ted was sick and tired of being kept as a secret [ i have so so many thoughts about the spankoffskis too dont get me started on that tho ] and ended up giving mark an ultimatum: either choose to stay with ted and become public, or choose his family and run away from himself

i think its clear which mark chose. they dont talk much anymore

he wasnt shown a lot of genuine love and affection growing up (his mother would lovebomb him, his father didnt believe he needed it, and they were both pretty strict considering he was their only child) and he tries to do better with grace but still ends up unintentionally repeating cycles out of wanting to keep her 'safe'

he truly does love his daughter, he loves grace s o fucking much, but he n karen didnt have many positive role models to base themselves off of parenting-wise, therefore carrying a lot of fabricated truth into their relationships both separately and together with grace

mark met greg through duke when he was about 20 or so [ I ALSO FIRMLYY BELIEVE THE GREG FROM WORKIN BOYS IS MAXS DAD BUT MY JÄGERMAN FAMILY TREE IS A WHOOOLEE OTHER CAN OF WORMS ], began seeing him, and greg was the one to bring mark into the polycule around 23-24

all of them worked at the bank! henry hidgens was one of the younger executives there

HIS N HENRYS DYNAMIC SPECIFICALLY was never sexual i believe, but it wasnt healthy overall because there was a power imbalance between them, and i also believe mark wouldve been one of the younger men in the polycule

henry and mark had a very 'wolf and lamb' dynamic, mark being perceived and treated as 'innocent' due to how he carries himself and how he was raised, and henry sometimes doing specific things to intimidate and even scare mark

all in all things do not go well. yeah. i am Not gonna get too deep into that bc it delves into pure indulgent au headcanon bullshit [ this entire post rlly lol ] but to shorten it: i believe mark to be a sole survivor of the workin boys incident in some aus and after the deaths of the boys he quits the banking job n goes into realty god bles

SPEAKING of historical art n bringing back his architecture degree, when grace was around 10 mark built her an exactly-to-scale miniature replica of the waylon place as a dollhouse, down to the scaffolding, lighting, wall decor, etc

it took him years and was a complete surprise. it is his favourite and most pride-inducing project to date, even more bc it was for his baby

Grace Chasity and Bliklotep Headcanons!

Here are the Grace and Blinky headcanons that I made bc I misunderstood the last ask! Hope you all like these bc they were really fun to make!

- Grace has always had poor vision. She’s supposed to wear glasses but she has always hated how they felt on her face and hated the sensation of contact lenses even more so she just kind of suffered through not being able to see super great and accommodated herself whenever possible for most of her life. After coming into contact with Blinky/being under his influence, however, her vision becomes exceptionally sharp and developed.

She becomes abnormally aware of even the smallest movements or visual changes in her surroundings. One day she has the sudden realization that she can now see in the dark because Blinky needs his vessel to be able to see at all times so that he can watch at all times.

- Blinky likes to ‘passively’ possess Grace and essentially just (figuratively) sit in the back of her mind while Grace remains conscious and keeps (majority) control of her body. This is because he likes to watch things through her eyes/point of view. 

When he’s doing this, she tends to become a lot more still and quiet, and her irises are tinted purple like the people in WatcherWorld. Most often, he does this when Grace is witnessing something that he would find entertaining (usually arguments or violence). She’s like a front-row seat to the action for him!

- While Grace carries on with her day (at school in this case) during Blinky’s ‘passive’ influence, she will occasionally realize that she has been unconsciously doodling eyes all over her paper alongside the occasional Blinky ramble exposing her classmates’ secrets (which she promptly rips up and wishes she never saw in the first place.)

He will also sometimes push forward enough to very minorly take control and use Grace’s voice to speak for a moment. Typically it’s more of the same with him saying something ominous about knowing/seeing what someone has done and possibly taunting them about eventually being punished.

Her classmates are unphased because honestly, Grace is just kind of like that all of the time anyway.

- Blinky likes to mess with Grace by making her unintentionally cheat on tests. He knows that oddly, the things that get to her the most are the little things that challenge her specific morals rather than the blatant violence he might enact to mess with others. While writing tests, Blinky will flash images of the answer sheet in her mind before Grace is able to think of the answer on her own so that now it’s impossible for her to get the answers wrong and thus she is wracked with guilt for having an unfair advantage over her classmates.

- Blinky will constantly try to influence Grace into snooping through her friends' things or just generally invade others’ privacy. Often he does this by filling her head with all kinds of distrustful thoughts: telling her that they’re hiding things from her, that they're talking behind her back, that they stole something from her, that they’re going down the wrong path, etc. Anything to make her stick her nose where it doesn’t belong. If she’s kind of zoned out, he’ll sometimes subtly influence her into walking within earshot of private conversations so that she overhears things that she shouldn’t know.

Grace has now taken to holding her hands very tightly clasped behind her back while in others’ homes because it makes it easier to avoid the temptation to rifle through things that are none of her business.

- Blinky is a huge gossip (a bit of a lighthearted word for an eldritch god but it suits him!) and he specifically is the one who (very gleefully) directs Grace toward her victims. He’s always in her ear telling her about the sins of her peers and giving suggestions as to which “dirty dude” she should go after next.

- Oddly, I feel like Blinky has a little bit of a soft spot for Grace compared to the other humans that he’s encountered but that doesn’t mean he won’t mess with her. Because of this, Blinky tells Grace what people say about her behind her back. Part of this is because he wants to hurt her, but part of him also wants her to know so that she can stick up for herself and get revenge (plus there’s the added bonus of it being free entertainment for him!).

When he’s having a rare moment of empathy, he will simply inform her of the sins of the person who was saying nasty things about her and encourage her to use the Black Book on them without ever disclosing that they were saying anything about her.

- Grace is the most paranoid about Blinky out of all of the LIB. She’s not necessarily afraid of him, but she is constantly aware that he could be watching her, especially when she’s doing something that she thinks is wrong or sinful (even if it wouldn’t actually phase him at all) and she is afraid that he will use this information against her or tell others. 

He lets her continue to think this way because it gives him greater power over her but realistically, he would not want to betray her trust in this way and risk his most powerful asset becoming disobedient/disloyal to him.

One more silly one to end on!

- Blinky constantly wants to antagonize Bill when Grace sees him at church but she has set that as a hard ‘no’ boundary because she refuses to be disrespectful to ‘a good churchgoing Christian’ like Bill.

She’s nice to him at church!! She can’t lose that!

I think the reason I love Grace Chasity so much is because she doesn't fit the mold of a lot of female characters in media, especially in musicals.

A lot of musicals only have women as love interests, so creating a character who's primary motive is to get rid of her love interest feels innovating to be honest.

Also, I love the fact that Grace losing her chastity didn't just cause her to become non-religious or reject her religion at all. She was doing it to save her friends, but she still wants to rid the world of horny men, just like she wanted to stop the Homecoming dance because of the same horny people. Just because she gave up her chastity doesn't mean it's still not important to her— it's still her most cherished thing.

Grace is literally the main character of NPMD. Sure, Peter and Steph have their whole romance arc and a lot of songs, but Grace is the only one who truly caused and fixed the issue that drove the plot of the musical. She made the plan to scare Max, and then she had sex to stop Max. She couldn't have done it without the others, but it felt great to watch this because typically the true main character is one of the people in the primary romantic relationship.

And the fact that all Hatchetfield musicals have a sad ending— sure, NPMD would've been sad already because of the deaths, but it seemed as if things were going to be fine in Best Of You. And then Grace shows up, realizing that there isn't just one god over the Hatchetfield universe and embracing that magic exists, while still believing in her religion because fuck you. Her chasity is important, and she will destroy all the men that make her feel even the tiniest bit attracted to them.

In conclusion, Live laugh love Grace Chasity (I still need to watch Abstinence Camp so idk everything about her yet)

Welcome to the mysterious and magical land of Hatchetfield, where fantastical creatures coexist with humans, even if not harmoniously.

This is an ask blog for a Nerdy Prudes Must Die Gorgon AU. Before anything else, lets dive into the main characters.

The Gorgons

Stephanie Lauter - Transfemme, bisexual, demigod queen. After disobeying her Godly Father during his trails to make her powerful he curses her to be a gorgon. Her snakes are Brazilian Rainbow Boas.

Ruth Fleming - Transfemme bisexual. Her parents had disrespected a god who cursed their unborn child, after being born a gorgon they abandoned her and she was raised by satyrs. She was all alone until she found Steph and Grace. Her snakes are Axanthic conda morph Hognoses.

Grace Chasity - Cis, lesbian. She was a priestess to a virgin goddess and while trying to figure out her sexuality she lost her virginity to a man inside the goddesses temple, getting her cursed as a gorgon and banished. Her snakes are Diamondback Rattlesnakes.

Richard Lipschitz - Transmasc and aroace. He was being forced into a marriage he didn't want and he begged for the gods to save him, one of them took pity on the boy and "cursed" him as a gorgon, being the only gorgon of the group who was happy about the situation. His snakes are Blue Eyed Leucistic Ball Pythons.

The Humans

Maxwell Jägerman - Cis, pansexual, demigod. While making his name as a hero he was tasked by Ruth's parents to kill their wicked monster of a son, but when he arrived all he found was a beautiful woman.

Peter Spankoffski - Transmasc and bisexual. Pete was ordered to get snake venom from a gorgon in order to save his brother Ted from being wrongfully imprisoned, only to meet and fall in love with Steph.

what mouthwashing character i would assign all of you to

anya : grace

idk anya is responsible and rational and she has a lot of hope that everyone can survive on the ship. even if anya doesn’t have a canon religion i have a feeling she would be catholic and heavily confide in mama mary. anya usually has to do things herself (before the crash and after bcus she has to take care of captain curly) much like grace. grace can’t really rely on anyone but herself instances being bailey in working boys giving her the gun (even though *he’s* the cop), her parents refuse to help her through her adolescence where she experiences *natural* feelings, and the Jerrys at camp idontwannabang who don’t protect the children at their own camp. (grace is a little more outgoing than anya but that’s because anya was assaulted and always seemed afraid after that very very traumatic incident.)

daisuke : ruth

daisuke. honestly was gonna assign richie bcus of the obvious Japanese name but i’m trying to assign them by personality and not just for fun. anyways, daisuke seems cheery and outgoing on the outside (ruth isn’t *that* extroverted but she’s energetic most of the time) but he feels like he’s a failure. so does ruth because she wants to be seen. to not be ignored. ruth and daisuke both handle a lot of verbal abuse too sometimes. with daisuke getting it from swansea and also by being called a slacker once (most likely more than once) by his own mom. and ruth just being verbally abused by.. honestly everyone. she’s trying. he’s trying. they both are and they both have their own release and way to relax. ruth acts in shows, daisuke… drinks mouthwash. (ruth doesn’t fit *too well* with daisuke but they seemed like the fit the most with each other.)

swansea : steph

steph felt like the obvious choice. both being sarcastic and mostly being weirded out a little by everyone in their perspective group. despite that, both swansea and steph really care about everyone. having a tough exterior but being extremely selfless and caring on the inside. i mean, swansea was guarding the utility room and saving the only remaining pod for daisuke. so he could live, and steph for willing to sacrifice pete for everyone else in this town. and also risking her life and future by evading the fucking law. (okay, to be fair pete and grace also did that but no one is perfect okay! I can’t psycho analyze every character ever, c’mon.)

jimmy : max

this was a little hard. i felt that max wasn’t a perfect match but.. i can make this work. a reason why i honestly thought they were kinda similar is because they are both *extremely fucking deranged.* but they kill for different reasons. jimmy kills for his own happy ending. max kills for the fuck of it, or ‘for the greater good’ since wiping out every nerd is best for everyone. but one of the things that also sets them apart is that jimmy thinks he’s the hero. max fully knows that he’s a bad person. a villain. (i guess they both have god/superiority complex’s too.)

i’m sorry peter and richie you guys are nothing like curly or any other character. genuinely can’t think of a reason you guys would be assigned with curly 😭

Nerdy Prudes Must Die is wrong about what purity culture is and how it affects people. Purity culture is not "never have sex ever" and it's not a blind hatred of anything sexual in every circumstance, it's "your body belongs to this hypothetical future person you will have to have our one approved version of sex with whether you want to or not."

With this in mind, Grace Chasity's story would be so much more impactful, and so much more tragic, if she had been depicted as a sex-repulsed asexual vs "just really repressed".

(Abstinence Camp LITERALLY DID depict her that way if you ask me, even if it suffered from the same misunderstanding of how purity culture works that NPMD suffered from.)

Her "fantasies" about Max feel much less like fantasies and much more like intrusive thoughts. In an environment where everyone around you is fixated on and obsessed with sex to an absurd degree, whether in a purity culture way or a horny teenager way, it's really easy to have those kinds of decidedly not-fun ruminations as a repulsed ace person.

When she has sex with him at the end of the play, the narrative seems divided on whether it was actually her GETTING what she wanted all along, or her GIVING UP a thing that she cherished most. If it's the latter (which it would have to be, otherwise it wouldn't have worked as a sacrifice) is it really her chastity she's giving up? Or is it her boundaries and feeling of ownership over her own body?

As a sex-averse ace who grew up having my brain fried by Christian purity culture and sees a lot of myself in Grace, I really do not vibe with many of the choices that were made for her portrayal in NPMD. The character arc we got is not the character arc I wanted.

Who might be Tinky's and Blinky's prophets ?

So, I adhere to the theory that each Lord in Black has a prophet. It goes with the whole "God" thing and most of them have known ones, so it isn't a stretch to assume they all have. The problem is....who are Tinky's and Blinky's ?

I mean, we the answer is obvious for the rest of them. Wiggly has Linda and Wilbur; Pokey has (the very unwilling) Paul and the (much more willing) Otho; Nibbly has Roman Murray, Linda's father; and Webby has Hannah as her prophet.

But the other two ?

Tinky's prophets would be the Spankoffski brothers ? Not completely impossible, it would make sense even. But they really feel more like well, toys to him. All the other prophet seems to be somewhat respected by their patron in a weird way.

By that I mean that their lords give them an actual goal (feed me, bigger the hive, sell dolls, ect), a task to expend their domain. What are the brothers really doing to expand Tinky's powers, concretely ? So yeah, I am doubtful about them. Not impossible. If that theory is right, they are the more likely to be the canon ones. But I really don't see it.

For Blinky, it's completely up in the air ! I mean, we know he is the most sadistic. So, someone who is either really good at making people suffer or is just a complete punching bag with a freaking dramatic life ? He is also the One with a Thousand Eyes, so someone that is in a position to gain plenty of information on a lot of people ? Alice and Bill ? They where his victims in Watcher World, but I doubt Blinky would want them after Alice shot him. Grace Chasity then ?

She's my best guess, actually. We know she ends up working for the Lords at the end. Being one of the nerdy prudes, I'd say she saw a lot of suffering, even if she didn't receive any (the apex bully having a big crush on her does help). Also, her religiousness. She believes in the eternal suffering in Hell of those who go against her faith. She killed who knows how many dudes because of it. Although she had good intentions, she created the rumours that brought Stephanie to camp Idontwannafuck. Also, the whole "God is watching over our actions" thing that goes with her faith. No, really she'd be a real possible candidate.

Or I might be completely wrong and they are characters that are not even introduced yet !

Either way, it is just a theory.Though, I am curious on who you might think they are ? :)
