i usually love angela but i haven’t been enjoying her too much in summer games. the “baby talk” is overplayed already and has veered in the cringy category and some commentators appear to agree. there has definitely been an influx of comments (on tiktok, youtube, reddit) saying she needs to stop.

and i’m nervous that it might continue throughout the entire games as it is all pre-recorded so she can’t adjust to feedback

hearing the cast make HP jokes in 2025 is a little off putting ngl. like, catch up and get new material. y'all can be funny without it. stop giving it attention. I realize I'm being a hypocrite by saying this lmao

I'm just curious if I'm the only one confused about how all we've seen of ssg so far ties togheter. Like in the trailer everyone seemed to be playing a character (what they would be like in highschool in 2005) but in the actual games they playes as themselves. Like why introduce Hacker Tommy, Emo Angela, Jock Chanse and Arasha if it has nothing to do with the games themselves. Did they just do all that for the trailer cause it looked cool? And then filmed that filler "vlog" thing since they were in costume anyway so why waste it.

In the Smosh Cast episode Monday Danien said he did research for his character and is excited to play it. The outfits are slay, but he legit is just asking are you ready and saying the scores. Like that's not a character!!!

I just really hope we get like a plot episode soon that's not a competition and they get to play the characters and maybe we find out the lore behind the team names and how they formed

Like idk I'm enjoying ssg so far but it's not coming togheter in a way that makes any sense to me I just feel like I've been thrown into it with no context cause the context I had from the trailer and "vlog" is not aplicable. Like I feel like I watched the pilot of a show and then jumped straight to season 2

Damien re-focusing Angela and quietly counting down with her was a great moment in an overall great episode. That’s how you care for people!!!

I like that new Smosh leans into being cheesy, and away from the weird sexualisation that Ive seen in old SSG clips. It’s just adults playing games, which makes me want to go outside and run around with my adult friends 😅

(im jk i think shayne and arangela will do really well and i think despite not being his biggest fan, keith and angela make for a very funny dynamic unfortunately.) (i still think trevor is gonna be the mvp of that team, maybe arasha if they really do lean in to the mind games of it all)

Anon is spot on. This ssg was FAR TOO LONG. literally the only reason I watched it all was because Angela's trash talking was top tier (and absolutely NOT because I thought Angela, Shayne and Damien were looking like candy and i couldn't stop staring 😅😅)

But still too long to be entertaining lmao

I definitely share your opinion that old smosh was totally not for me. My classmates loved it but I just could not get into it like most things on YouTube at the time. I love modern smosh. It's definitely for me and I'm glad I'm not alone in that.

If you'd told younger me that I'd be a big fan of Smosh in 2024/25 I would have called you a liar tbh.

I got emotional watching it too. It truly is a beautiful little film. It's very obvious that the subject means a lot for the creator and to Angela.

Ok so, we all know what this is goin to be about! The 1st episode of smosh summer games is out! This is gonna me my opinion alone so be chill. Also, this is my first time watching a smosh summer games video. I never watched the past ones

I didn't like it. It was boring. Ok so, the parts that are easier to explain why I didn't like were the fake bickering and the reality show style interviews intermissions. They are just fake. I dont like either when in normal games they forcibly bicker, so to have that for an almost hour long video, is draining

Also the reality TV interviews is something I never liked even when watching trashy big foot hunting shows and other stuff like that, so it's no surprise I don't like it here

Another problem I had is that is too long. Do I really have to watch 12 people do the same thing one after the other? I know that youtube "prefers" longer content, but I think it would have been best to cut out some parts

That's all I have for episode 1! Let's hope the ones after this are better!

I don't like it when online companies have bad PR and HR and things get so bad in or behind the scenes and are never touched on.

Smosh, of course, with all of the stuff going on (although I've distanced myself from them so I don't know if they have come out about stuff, but if they have, I doubt it's been all of it)

Also College Humor or whatever they're called with that show where they let someone sell every single thing they own or whatever and it got approved by HR and PR and everyone else it had to go through, and nobody shut it down as it happened or said the show shouldn't air after the fact, and they kept the show going and kept him miserable.

I find it hard to trust and love companies that let through all the stuff they have, honestly

Early smosh kinda put me off of smosh tbh. It took me a while to be able to see them in a different light. And the remaining old cast with these fresh new ones are top tier

I did NOT like Smosh back in the day at all so it's quite the surprise to me that they've become my hyperfixation.
