Mission Gone Awry
For the @drarrymicroficâ prompt (Nov 22nd): âterrariumâ. 50 words. (cw: draco thinks harryâs dead for a hot minute.)Â
Draco banged on the mini-terrarium walls. âIâll kill you!â he screamed. âIâLL KILL YOU!â
The glass cracked.
âDraco?âÂ
He turned.
Lush vines pushed at the fractures and broke them free in a wave of flowersâHarryâs magic.
He sobbed. âY-Youâre okay?â
Harry healed his hands, then kissed him. âI am now.â

(not a request, just some thoughts to ponder! godspeed regarding exams dear elle <3)
Thinking about ploy!marauders x reader who get together after Harry's been born? I would think that Remus and Sirius would have been together since school. But reader's always been stuck pining after her loves who were all already in relationships.
But once James and Lily separate the dynamic shifts and I can totally picture Sirius throwing it out there that they should all give being together a good go. James and Lily are still good friends, happily co-parenting.
Just stuck on the idea of what you think the reader and marauders role in raising Harry would be? would they be auntie and uncles? or function more like step-parents? And when James has Harry for the week how would that change their routine? Curious to hear your thoughts!
Lots of love :)
okay okay okay okay I don't have a fic for this but I have another request that I think needs this background for the head canon's I've been obsessed with based off of this suggestion (with @unstablereader's help)
so this isn't a fic but this is an inside look on how a lot of my fics are formulated đ€Łđ
okay so I always hate the idea of Lily and James separating đ so either it was super amicable OR maybe Harry was the result of a drunken hook up between the two friends?? (before Jamie was with the other Marauders)
either way, I totally think the other's would have a parental/step-parent role. Like if the boys weren't called papa (Sirius) or da (Remus) etc, he'd certainly be like "at my house with my daddy and my moony and my pads!" and Pandora (I love me some good Pandalily) would be 'ma' and Lily was mummy.
So where @unstablereader and I went wild was maybe reader was our whimsical reader? And when Harry was quite young (toddler) and Siri & Jamie were aurors (so would be at work) and in a Voldemort free au we figured maybe Rem would start teaching earlier? That reader would watch Harry for them when it was Jamie's week with their son
And the boys were all obviously in love with her but none of them did anything about it yet. So we imagined this happening during one of Lily & James' exchanges or parent dates:
Lily: so, Y/N's been around a lot lately, yeah? James: oh yeah she's amazing; I mean, three of us and still our household would probably crash and burn if not for her Lily: *knowing smirk*, hm, so when are you guys going to make it official? James: I beg your pardon? Lily: please, Potter. I see the way you blokes look at her James: no no, it's not like that... *not convincing at all* Lily: James. Do you know what Harry calls her? James:........ Lily: he calls her "lovie". in fact, he calls her "his lovie". He thinks that's her name, James. James:...... Lily: he said, and I quote, "I was at home with my daddy, and my papa, and my da, and my lovie!" James:...... Lily: listen here; I have eyes, potter. and if she's as lovely as you're saying she is, you three better snatch her up before panda and I do.
then we imagined that maybe Sirius and Rem were close by
Sirius: *barges in out of no where* NO RED PLEASE YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO US Remus: Sorry guys, I tried to tell him to leave you guys to it. But now that we're here: Lils, please have mercy. The three of us can compete with you and Pandora??? Lily: you guys have a week and then fair's fair.
so a week later when Lily comes by to pick Harry up and reader is there
Lily: *sultry* hello darling y/n: Hello Lily! You know, if you'd asked first I would've said yes Lily: well if they don't treat you right, you know where to find us *James & Sirius come racing over* James: lovie, step away from the door right now Sirius: no more talking to Evans unsupervised *Remus walks in with Harry on his hip* Harry [speaking toddlerese]: mummy! is my wuvie going to wive at bof of Harry's houses? Lily: I'm not sure Has; what does your lovie think? Sirius: *panicked squawking* I SAID YOU CAN'T HAVE HER RED *throws reader over shoulder and disappears further into the house*
the end :)

honestly is there a single competent teacher at Hogwarts? Any teacher I can think of with more than 10 lines of dialogue is a pedagogical disaster. Very shippable disasters though, for which I am grateful because your page has made me giggle all week.
maybe Sprout.
honestly, anon? no.
that school is a basket case and the older i get the more my sympathy for cornelius fudge increases. imagine getting the call where dumbledore says "heyyyyy... so, i hired what i thought was an ex-auror who was retired from the service because of serious ptsd, gave him no teacher training, let him perform illegal curses on children for fun, and then it turns out he was an escaped convict trying to resurrect the dark lord all along. lmao."
i'd have devoted myself to trying to discredit him too.
and so, for fun and profit, i think it's only fair for us to establish an official competency ranking of the teaching staff at hogwarts during the period 1991-1998... points on for having a basic grasp of the material, points off for anyone who nearly dies in your class.
1. wilhelmina grubbly-plank, care of magical creatures
genuinely, professor grubbly-plank is the only person we meet in all seven books who seems to be an uncomplicatedly good teacher. she's got a series of well-defined lesson plans which feature a mixture of guided and independent study and which work in a tangible way towards exams, she has clear authority in the classroom but is never unreasonable or cruel, she's demonstrably able to lead a practical class which involves wild animals which might behave dangerously or unpredictably without there ever being any concerns about student safety, she takes an active pastoral role [such as when she helps heal hedwig's injured wing, reassuring harry enormously], she's collegial [she shares her lessons plans with hagrid in goblet of fire, and she refuses to criticise his teaching to umbridge], and she's admired by all of her pupils except harry [who is nonetheless begrudgingly forced to admit that she's incredibly good at her job].
plus, her aesthetic is iconic.
=2. filius flitwick, charms; pomona sprout, herbology
in joint second place, we have these two.
both sprout and flitwick spend canon seeming to be pretty good at their jobs - they have interesting lesson plans which seem to balance theoretical and practical work well and which prepare their pupils properly for exams, their pupils like them and enjoy their lessons, they're both excellent at the pastoral side of their jobs [sprout's gentle encouragement of neville is really lovely], and they're adored by their colleagues.
they lose marks for lax classroom discipline. harry, ron, and hermione are constantly yapping away in both charms and herbology - with harry and ron frequently failing to understand what they're supposed to be learning because they were too busy have a chat.
=4. remus lupin, defence against the dark arts; septima vector, arithmancy
two teachers here who earn their placement on the list by having one pupil who considers them life-alteringly inspiring.
for lupin, this is dean thomas - whose constant state of readiness to throw hands to defend his honour is one of his greatest character traits. for vector, it's hermione.
obviously, they're both well-qualified, well-prepared, engaging, and [at least in lupin's case, but i can't see why it wouldn't also be the case for vector] well-regarded by their colleagues.
they don't rank higher because lupin loses marks for endangering his students by not disclosing his knowledge that the presumed-to-be-a-death-eater sirius has a means of entering hogwarts without detection [i understand why he does this from a characterisation point of view, but it's inexcusable from a safeguarding one] and because vector teaches an elective subject which is implied to only attract bright, engaged pupils - and therefore has an easier time in the classroom than someone trying to get a student like crabbe through their exams.
5. minerva mcgonagall, transfiguration
in comes minnie mac at number five.
unsurprisingly, her solid curriculum, excellent classroom discipline, high-regard among her colleagues and pupils, support of student extracurricular activities, and investment in helping her pupils pursue the careers they want all give her points.
she loses marks, however, for the fact that she is so casually disdainful of pupils who aren't instinctively good at her subject - which suggests that she doesn't know how to adapt her material so it can be understood by every student she teaches. like dumbledore, she seems to have an identifiable favouritism for brilliant students - who she seems to permit to get away with much more than students she considers average or dull - which probably doesn't endear her to anyone who doesn't get that treatment.
on her pastoral approach, though, i don't think that it matters too much that she's not particularly nurturing - even though she's a head of house. she seems to be good at responding to genuine distress and managing genuine crises with empathy, and the "pull yourself together" vibes she takes in response to more trivial dramas is because she's a presbyterian scotswoman.
6. severus snape, potions & defence against the dark arts
the one on this list that i imagine will be controversial...
because snape is a dick in the classroom - not denying that - but he's also, in terms of his pupils' exam performance, clearly the most successful teacher in the entire school. he can fill his newt-level classes despite only admitting those with outstanding grades, and he expects every pupil he teaches to pass owl-level potions and seems not to be disappointed. hermione reveals that he does teach the theory of potions and the discipline's wider application - harry and ron just don't listen - and that she thinks his lessons are interesting.
snape loses marks - obviously - for his general vibe, although i think he should be allowed some leeway for his dickhead behaviour since potions is clearly a subject in which not paying attention and not being able to follow instructions properly is dangerous [hence why i've been a trevor hater since day one].
i suppose he should also be allowed some leeway because it's a genre requirement for a school story to have a theatrically evil teacher. but he's not getting it - since he clearly enjoys the role so much.
7. horace slughorn, potions
marks on for encouraging independent thinking and for clearly being able to hold a classroom's attention. marks off for not learning the names of pupils he's indifferent to, getting his favourite pupils drunk, and for having no follow-up questions to "hello, sir. i'd like to commit some murders."
8. charity burbage, muggle studies
entirely because i think it's genuinely admirable - and, indeed, far more admirable than the fact that the order of the phoenix all happily keep working for the state following voldemort's takeover - that she publishes an article in the daily prophet, to which her real name is attached, explicitly refuting blood-supremacist rhetoric when she must know that a blood-supremacist government is about to come into power.
marks off because the fact that even wizards who've taken her class appear to know fuck all about muggle society means that she can't be particularly good at her job.
9. firenze, divination
marks on because his pupils love him, marks off because that's a tremendously low bar to clear given... trelawney.
him telling his classes that divination is a bullshit, made-up subject is iconic, though.
10. "alastor moody", defence against the dark arts
i think it's genuinely impressive that he manages to go from being imprisoned under the imperius curse for a decade straight into planning a full year's lesson plans [which his pupils love] and doesn't have a breakdown.
marks off because of literally everything else.
=11. all the miscellaneous teachers: aurora sinistra, astronomy; silvanus kettleburn, care of magical creatures; bathsheba babbling, ancient runes
they seem fine.
14. rolanda hooch, flying
full respect to her for managing to wangle a full-time salary out of an annual workload made up of teaching one lesson [badly] and refereeing six quidditch matches.
15. quirinus quirrell, defence against the dark arts
all the proof those of us who hate professor riddle stories need that voldemort would have been a dogshit teacher, if he can't even get his meat-puppet to inspire a room full of eager eleven-year-olds in a subject which is about the coolest ways possible to kill people.
=16. cuthbert binns, history of magic; sybill trelawney, divination
they're terrible, obviously, but the fact that they remain in their jobs despite being so clearly incompetent is entirely dumbledore's fault. are you not giving the staff performance reviews, albus? come on now.
18. dolores umbridge, defence against the dark arts
umbridge deserves to be in prison, but she did at least bother to plan out a curriculum.
=19. gilderoy lockhart, defence against the dark arts; rubeus hagrid, care of magical creatures
both victims of dumbledore's "lol this will be so funny" era of hiring practices. both deservedly regarded as completely fucking incompetent by all but one defiant brownnoser. both possessing jazzy taste in textbooks.
21. amycus carrow, defence against the dark arts
he beats his sister simply because his pupils do appear to know how to perform the unforgivable curses correctly.
22. alecto carrow, muggle studies
literally nothing positive can be said.
#asks answered#where is ofsted?#albus... get the performance improvement plans out babe...#educational decrees they could never make me hate you#safeguarding tonite? safeguarding tonite queen?

Hi hello how are you!! I feel like Iâd seen a competence kink list you did some time ago, but I canât seem to find it on your masterlists :( Iâm wondering if maybe itâs lost or Iâm imagining things lol?
And if not, I would be sooo grateful if you or your followers had any recs for me :) Thank you so much, love your blog!
Hi anon! I did this list with talented Harry (beyond his job) but here are some classic competence kink recs:
Competent Draco:
The Slytherin Urn by @icmezzo (E, 4k)
Nothing turns Harry on quite like redemption.
The Study of Change by p1013 (M, 4k)
Harry's going to hell. He's going to hell immediately. Even with all of the good he's done in his life, he's never going to overcome the impure thoughts racing through his head at the sight of Draco Malfoy looking like an academic wet dream in a room full of barely legal adults.
A Song, Incomplete by RurouniHime (E, 11k)
Dracoâs photograph took up the entire top half of the Prophetâs front page. Below the photo: DRACO MALFOY DEFENDS SON OF FORMER LOVER. As if that were breaking news.
Countdown by dysonrules (M, 14k)
When the Wizarding world is plagued by random outbreaks of Dark Magic, the Ministry assigns Curse-Breakers to assist Auror teams on their missions. Harry shouldn't be surprised when Draco Malfoy is assigned to his team, but is Malfoy a Curse-Breaker, or a curse-bringer?
A Year in Training by Omi_Ohmy (M, 25k)
Harry is finally living his dream and training as an Auror, but nothing seems to be going right: heâs just so angry all the time. And Draco Malfoyâs presence on the programme really isnât helping with that, either.
measures of our days and nights by @flimsi (E, 40k)
Draco returns to London to help the Ministry decipher a spell, but things arenât quite as simple as they seem.
Heal Thyself by astolat (T, 47k)
"Are you going for the course?" Lovegood asked. "You have the NEWTs.â âWhat course?â Draco said, then, âNo, donât be ridiculous,â when he realized she meant the notice pinned up on the board heâd been staring at: Applicants To The Introductory Mediwizard Course For The Coming Term Shall Present Themselves In The Chief Mediwizardâs Office By August 24th.
The Vanishing Department by @dictacontrion (E, 47k)
The things we lose have a way of coming back to us in the end, even if that involves a lot more form-filling, bickering, covert glancing, miscommunication, and flying furniture than we might expect.
Take the Air by dysonrules (M, 51k)
Someone or something is attacking Muggles and leaving them for dead. Auror Harry Potter is assigned to the case, but with his usual partner unavailable, he is stuck with the most annoying Auror ever to walk the halls of the Ministry.
The Darkness Before the Dawn by Ren (E, 55k)
A mysterious creature is loose in London, stalking and killing people. Auror Harry Potter requests the help of a liaison from the Beast Division and gets saddled with Draco Malfoy. Will they be able to stop the creature before it claims more lives?
Kept in Cages by @sweet-s0rr0w (E, 77k)
Deep in the heart of the Ministry lies the Beast Division: a hidden room where ancient beasts roam, and winged creatures soar, and grumpy giant ferrets eat all your biscuits unless you keep them well hidden. Draco Malfoy would know â heâs been working there for five years now, after all.
Reparations by Saras_Girl (E, 87k) - both
Harry is about to discover that the steepest learning curve comes after Healer training, and that second chances can be found in unexpected places.
Balance, Imperfect by bixgirl1 (E, 91k) - both
When Harry sustains an injury in the line of work, he no longer knows how to navigate the life he loved, and finds help and solace from the most unexpected source.
All Our Secrets Laid Bare by firethesound (E, 149k) - both
Over the six years Draco Malfoy has been an Auror, four of his partners have turned up dead. Harry Potter is assigned as his newest partner to investigate just what is going on.
Competent Harry:
Unfinished Business by cupiscent (E, 20k)
Ten years after the War ends, Harry and Draco still haven't got their act together. But maybe it's not too late.
Better To Burn Than To Fade Away by Ren (E, 23k)
Harry Potter is a legend in the world of broomstick racing. He's won almost every cup, trophy, and bowl â except for the historical London-Nome which has been on hiatus for the past several years. Now the London-Nome is starting again, and Harry will do anything to pull off one last big win.
Safe As Houses by @xanthippe74 (T, 24k)
After five years abroad, Harryâs thrilled to be home and working at the most prestigious ward-building firm in Britain. But everything gets turned upside down when he's assigned to work for Draco Malfoyâwho somehow grew up to be just the sort of sexy bastard Harry goes for.
The Unplottable Time Conundrum by @writcraft (E, 45k)
When the past starts bleeding into the present at Grimmauld Place, an old academic article pulls Draco Malfoy out of his life of luxury. Haunted by the memory of a fleeting post-war kiss and thrust into the ghostly spaces inhabited by Unspeakable Harry Potter, Dracoâs easy life is about to get a whole lot more complicated.
REVOLVEVLOVER by firethesound, zeitgeistic (E, 46k)
The work Harry does is justifiable. Itâs justice. He works for his country, and his country is a republicâthe magical side, anyway. Itâs not laudable work, itâs not work heâs proud of, but itâs necessary work. Harry has always taken the necessary jobs that no one else has the stomach for.
The Boy Who Only Lived Twice by lettered (E, 54k)
Harry Potter is an Unspeakable. Draco Malfoy is the wizard who shagged him. Adventure! Intrigue! Secret identities, celebrities, spies! It's all right here, folks.
Timecode by Rasborealis (M, 73k)
Harry Potter has been dead for two years, and Draco would laugh in the face of anyone claiming differently. Well, anyone but Hermione Granger.
Among Ancient Pines by @graymatters (M, 74k)
Every day, Draco Malfoy tries. With every fiber of his being he tries. But he doesnât much think about what heâs trying for. In his final term of Healer training, Draco is unfortunate enough to find himself on a plane, the only means of traveling to a small, magical town in rural Alaska.
Azoth by @lol-zeitgeistic (E, 88k)
Now that Harry is back at Hogwarts with Hermione for eighth year, he realises that somethingâs missing from his life, and it either has to do with Ron, his boggart, Snape, or Malfoy. Furthermore, what, exactly, does it mean when oneâs life is defined by the desire to simultaneously impress and annoy a portrait? Harry has no idea; heâs too busy trying not to be in love with Malfoy to care.
Who we are in the shadows by @quicksilvermaid (E, 100k) - both
What happens when youâre forced to become the very thing you despise? Ex-Auror Harry Potter, tossed out of the Ministry for something he had no control over, has been looking for a way back to his former life. When he comes across Draco Malfoy in the criminal underbelly of Wizarding London and in need of protection, Harry figures bringing him in to face the Ministry's justice is his ticket back to everything he's lost.
By the Grace by lettered (T, 140k)
Harry is an Auror instructor. Malfoy wants to be an Auror.

For a certain member of the Noble House of Black, she takes on a new role of double agent with the partnership between her and a certain Hogwarts professor. Will she survive the ordeal and get her freedom when it's all over? The odds are slim when acting as a loyal servant and hunted by aurors.
Note: Snape is 37 in this like the books and reader is 31. Part 3 will be the final chapter to this miniseries but I have no idea when it will be posted. Hope yâall like this one! Also near the end the final scenes are inspired by Wanda in MOM so yeah that belongs to Marvel
ââââââ-
Months went by. Waiting. Scheming. Y/n felt her mind deteriorate by the day. Between Bellatrixâs constant complaints of Dracoâs failures and Narcissaâs moping, Y/n spent most of her time in the attic of Malfoy Manor. Hidden away to perfect her spells and create new ones. She even managed to successfully become an animagus.Â
A black crow.
How fitting.
At times Y/n found herself sitting in front of the window. Especially when it rained. The lightning in the distance, the crisp air filling the attic walls. Lost in her thoughts, Y/n would caress the silver jewelry laid on her left ring finger.Â
Once a month sheâd receive a letter from Severus, unbeknownst to the others, detailing Dracoâs attempts and all the times Snapeâs had to cover for him. As part of their deal to keep quiet of the others' disloyalty and motives behind actions, Snape agreed to update her on Draco and keep the Order off Y/nâs trail. For Y/nâs side of the bargain, she agreed to deflect suspicion on him from their fellow Death Eaters. Specifically her sisters.
And what better way to do that then in holy matrimony.
âYou want to get married?â she scoffed, placing her wine glass on the coaster. Having left with her sisters following the unbreakable vow, Y/n returned later that night after Severus sent an owl. Sitting in the same leather chair from before, âYou humor me.â
âI can assure you I am everything but comical, Y/n,â he drawled, standing by the fireplace. The sound of wood crackling filled the room. âThis is not an arrangement I suggest lightly.â
Seeing how serious he was, Y/nâs demeanor changed. âWow,â her tone lowered, finger raising to tap her lips. Unable to read her mind since she was a gifted Occulmens like himself, Snape was left to wonder what Y/n was thinking. Truth be told the woman was more impressed than shocked by his proposal. âI think thatâs the first time Iâve been rendered speechless, Severus.â Standing, Y/n grabbed her glass and approached the man. âYou truly believe this would work? Proposing a marriage between usâŠ.â she trailed, glancing at the fire briefly, âis intriguing. Tell me more.â
Snapeâs expression remained the same, âIt is simply a matter of convenience.â No need to sugar coat it, âWe want to keep our secrets hidden. So long as you can assure your sisters stay off my backâŠ..Iâll make sure the Order stays off yours. We play the part of a happy married couple when operating business with the Dark Lord, and I will do everything in my power to get your freedom when this all ends.âÂ
Y/n liked what she was hearing. The more she thought about it, the more engrossed she became. Marrying Snape wasnât ideal--as the concept itself she did not care for--but Y/n could not deny the idea made her curious. Plus Severus was handsome, a talented wizard, and obviously, he knew her motives for following Voldemort. What her end goal was. She needed to keep him close.Â
âI think Iâll find playing the part of a smitten wife will be rather easy,â she rasped, stepping closer to Snape so their chests were nearly touching. Walking her fingertips up the length of his arm, Y/n leaned closer to Snape which ignited a sharp breath from the man. She smelled of expensive perfume. Their closeness allowed him to see how her eyes turned from their usual coldness to something more lustful. Almost sinister. His reaction made her smirk, âConfident you can manage the sameâŠ.husband?âÂ
Now, almost a year later, the two managed to successfully keep their union hidden from the Order. All while any suspicion the Death Eaters had of Snape seemed to disappear. Bellatrix, initially furious and doubtful of their ârelationshipâ, soon began to trust him. Still, the witch grimaced each time the pair greeted the other with an affectionate kiss. Or when Y/n took claim to Snapeâs lap during meetings. An action which surprised the man himself in the beginning.
Each letter Severus sent was met with one in return, however Y/n was careful to only send her owl in the late hours of the night. When her family was sound asleep. Signing the parchment with only her initials, but instead of B as the ending initial it was S. Sheâd never admit it aloud, but Y/n felt a sense of comfort with Severus. There was an overwhelming amount of hate in her heart, but the pinch of sanity left in her soul connected to him. Which is not a surprise. He is, of course, the only person who can relate to her.Â
Neither would call it love. Y/n possessed no love. And Snape lost his when Lily died. They had mutual respect and care for each other as their partnership grew. Finding the otherâs presence calm despite the world around them going to shit.Â
The news of Dracoâs success in connecting the two cabinets came from Bellatrixâs glee, the woman bursting into the attic with a loud, âItâs time, sister.â Reluctantly, Y/n trailed Bellatrix to Knockturn Alley, where they met several of their associates.Â
Dark clouds painted the sky. Thunder rumbling. It set the tone of the evening.Â
Y/n stayed stoic the entire journey. Hating every minute, yet doing nothing to escape. Where could she even go? The mark on her arm prevented her from doing so. Until Voldemort was defeated, the only way for her to stay alive was to continue the act of a loyal servant.Â
Draco was gone when the group breached the cabinet in a cloud of black smoke. The boy rushed to find Dumbledore and complete his task. He found the man on the observation deck of the Astronomy Tower. Unaware his longtime rival, Harry Potter, was below him, watching the scene play out.Â
The others arrived to witness Draco complete the task, however, in the end Snape was the one to administer the curse. And so the greatest wizard in history fell from the sky.Â
Y/n kept her eyes on Severus the entire time. Watching his reaction. When he went through with the unthinkable, Y/n wasted no time in rushing to his side. Cupping his face, she noticed the dissociative expression Snape wore. Mind processing what he had done. âSeverus,â he didnât respond, making her shake his shoulders, âlook at me.â Finally he meets her eye and the woman matches his anxious demeanor. âWe have to go. Now.âÂ
Clutching his robe, the two push Draco in the direction of the Death Eaters. Bellatrixâs maniacal laughter rings as she shoots a spell into the sky to bring forth the Dark Lordâs symbol in the clouds. Not long after the tower was surrounded by members of the Order, ensuing a battle between the groups. Y/n tried to avoid dueling as much as possible. Not wanting to harm anyone, especially the kids in the school.Â
Cutting the corner after dodging a spell from her niece Nymphadora, Y/n spotted the wretched Fenrir Greyback attacking a man she didnât recognize. Judging by the wild red hair he possessed, she assumed it was a Weasley. Greybackâs back was toward her, unaware she stood behind him. From the looks of it, the redhead was losing the fight.Â
Not sure what came over her at that moment, Y/n raised her wand and shouted, âStupefy!â The werewolf was flung into the wall behind him, falling unconscious.Â
âBill!â a voice screamed, Y/n turning to see a young woman running to where the Weasley laid. Bloodied and knocked out. Fluer dropped beside him, sobbing at the state of her fiance. She glanced up to see Y/n, immediately becoming frozen with fear while pleading with her to help. âY-you--H-heâs been--.â
Cursing to herself, Y/n approached the two. âHe wasnât bit,â adjusting her dress skirt, she grabbed the cuffs of Billâs jacket and gestured for Fluer to help. Together they moved him to a concealed area away from the battle. âHeâs been scratched.â Having studied werewolves while in school, the woman was well educated on the subject. Muttering a healing spell, Y/n attempted to at least stop the bleeding, however, she knew the extent of his injuries were serious. âNevertheless, the wounds are cursed. Theyâll scar.âÂ
Fluer watched her carefully, âW-why are you helping us?â Y/n gave no answer, instead casting a final healing spell before standing up to leave. In her peripheral vision, she noticed movement from Greyback, and sent a second stun his way to keep him unconscious. She always hated him, so it gave her great pleasure to pu thim down.Â
Truth be told Y/n didnât know why she helped the injured Weasley. It would have best suited her to get the hell out of there and let whatever outcome happen. Whether that be Greyback killing the man or Bill successfully overpowering the werewolf. But instead, she cursed her associate. Saving the life of âthe enemyâ.Â
Several agonizing minutes passed before Y/n managed to escape the tower. At Snapeâs order, she ran deep into the forest until she was far enough to apparate. Back at the manor she was immediately questioned by her sister.
âIs Draco okay,â Narcissa grabbed Y/nâs wrist to stop her from escaping to the attic. Eyes glossy with tears, âDid he--.â
âYour son is fine, Narcissa,â she roughly pulled away. âYou have my husband to thank for that--he finished the job.â There was immediate relief from Narcissa, exhaling the breath she had been holding. Y/n went straight to the liquor cabinent, taking a glass and pouring a generous amount before downing it. She then refilled the glass, offering it to her sister without a word. Once Narcissa took it Y/n kept the bottle for herself, saying nothing more as she made her way to the attic.Â
It wasnât long before the others arrived. Y/n heard Narcissaâs cry of relief upon seeing Draco. Bellatrix was busy scolding Greyback--something that brought a smile to her face. Other murmurs were made out, but hard to identify with all the noise. Moments later she heard the fast approaching sound of footsteps nearing her door. Jolting from her bed with her wand raised at whoever was about to breach it. Only when it was revealed to be Severus did Y/n lower her guard, rolling her eyes, âWhat have I told you about--.â
Snape slammed the door shut, muttering a silencing charm which caused Y/n to raise her brow. âWe need to talk.â Her guarded expression returned, but Snape beat her before she could question him. âI know you stunned the werewolf to save Weasley.â All movement from the woment seized, frozen in shock.
âHow do you know--.â
âI saw you with Miss. Delacour, Y/n,â Snape peers down at her with visible frustration. âWhy would you risk such a thing? If you had been caught--.â
âBut I wasnât, Severus,â she interrupts, eyes flicking to the door in fear someone was listening, but then she remembered the spell he cast. âI was careful. You should know better than to underestimate me. And to answer your questionâŠ.â she turned away from him, hands on her hips as she turned her focus to the woods beyond her window. âI donât know what possessed me to do what I did--It just happened. Maybe itâs the fact the Weasleyâs are distant family. Or because I fucking hate Greyback.â She throws her hands up in defeat, âOr I want the Order to have all its members to better their chances at winning this damn war. MaybeâŠâ her hands fall back to her sides, âdeep down thereâs some humanity left in me.â The words were so low it was barely a whisper. Y/n shook her head, the speck of softness replaced with disinterest.Â
âWhatever it was,â turning back to him, Y/n narrows her eyes in warning. âItâs no longer our concern. Dumbledore is dead, you killed him.â footsteps echo against the wood as she approaches Snape, noticing his expression change at the mention of the headmaster. âHe will be plotting his next move. We need to remain focused--I expect his attention will be on us more now given the circumstances.âÂ
Snape knows sheâs right. Killing Albus only shined a spotlight on him, and in turn on Y/n. He was now labeled public enemy #1 in the eyes of the Order. Voldemort himself will likely turn to Snape. They will have to up their game, continuing the act of a happy couple. Well happy as one can be in the middle of a war.Â
That summer was endless torture following the Headmasterâs death. Y/n not only had to deal with Voldemort growing stronger, but also the return of Lucius from Azkaban. It did bring the witch great joy to see the dark circles beneath his eyes and matted hair. One year in prison did a number on him.Â
Lucky for Lucius it was only one year. Had it been 15 like Y/n, heâd surely gone mad. Thankfully the two rarely saw each other. Not long after his release following Dumbledoreâs death Y/n moved into Severus' home. Only returning to the mansion when necessary.Â
At every Death Eater meeting Y/n had to fight yawning with how bored she was, keeping her expression blank even when addressed by Voldermort from time to time. The man wasnât blind. Well aware the youngest Black was not as forthcoming with her praises to him like Bellatrix. Never voicing her opinions, while also keeping any objections to herself like a smart person would do. He never fully trusted her. Even though she was married to one of his most trusted advisors, something in the back of his mind told Voldemort sheâd be the first to turn on him. Without proof, Voldemort kept a close eye.
The meeting tonight was just like any other. Seated at the massive dining table in Malfoy Manor, Voldemort at the head while the Blackïżœïżœs and Malfoyâs flanked to the right. Y/n seated beside Draco, far from her sisters. Very telling of her attitude towards them.
Severus was the last to arrive, dark cloak tailing behind him. His entrance caught everyoneâs attention, while his was on his colleague hanging in the air. Muggle studies professor Charity Burbage. The wounds on her body indicated she had been subjected to torture.Â
âSeverus,â Voldemort greeted, âI was beginning to worry you had lost your way. Come. Weâve saved you a seat.â The headmaster took claim to the only free chair at the table, bidding a look to his wife, to which she slightly shook her head. Silently saying, âI had no part in this.â
Voldemort then said, âDo you bring news, I trust?â
âIt will happen Saturday next, at nightfall.â
âIâve heard differently, my Lord,â Yaxley interrupted at the other end of the table, then proceeds to say he believes Harry will be moved at the end of the month. The 30th of July. The day before his 17th birthday.
âThis is a false trail,â Snape insists. âThe auror office no longer plays any part in the protection of Harry Potter. âThose closest to him believe we have infiltrated the ministry.â
The Death Eater seated beside Y/n laughed, âWell, they got that right arenât they.â Several at the table joined in the laughter. The youngest Blackâs expression was tight, plastered with annoyance.Â
âWhatâs say you, Pius?â Voldemort addresses the man seated at the opposite head of the table.Â
Nagini curled herself next to the chair as he answered, âOne hears many things, my Lord. Whether the truth is among them is not clear.â Voldemort chuckles.
âSpoken like a true politician. You will, I think, prove most useful, Pius.â The Death Eater appears pleased by the compliment. Voldemort turns back to Snape, âWhere will he be taken, the boy?â
âTo a safe house. Most likely the home of someone in the Order. Iâm told itâs been given every manner of protection possible, once there it will be impractical to attack him.â
Suddenly the conversation is interrupted by Bellatrix. âMy Lord, Iâd like to volunteer myself for this task.â She leans against the table, voice dropping, âI want to kill the boy.â
âOf course you would,â Y/n thinks to herself, holding back the urge to roll her eyes. Frankly she found her sister to be stupid to ask such a thing. Considering Voldemort mentions his desire to kill Harry Potter everyday. And with the prophecy, thereâs no way heâd allow anyone else the opportunity to do the deed.Â
In the back, Charity let out a haunting groan, causing Voldermort to shout, âWormtail! Have I not spoken to you about keeping our guestâs quiet?â
âYes, my Lord,â the man spoke with urgency. âRight away, my Lord.â As he scurried off, Voldemort returned his attention to Bellatrix.Â
âAs inspiring as I find your bloodlust, Bellatrix,â the hope was clear in her eyes, disappearing with his next words. âI must be the one to kill Harry Potter.â With that she curled back into her seat, Y/nâs lips raising in a satisfied smirk.
âBut,â he rises from his chair, âI face an unfortunate complication.â As much as Y/n wanted to tune out this conversation, the nature of it was hard to dismiss. Especiall when the man walked behind the chairs on her side of the table. Brushing past her sisters before ending beside Lucius. There was satisfaction seeing him visibly afraid of Voldemort. A smirk on her lips when he was to give up his wand, a wizardâs most prized possession.
Her expression shifted when Charityâs brought to the center of the table. Death Eaters laughing at her despair and cringing with disgust at her profession. Y/n moves her gaze to Severus, whoâs emotionless to Charityâs pleas. Then when the womanâs killed and her body drops to the table, Y/n lifts her hand to grasp Dracoâs wrist. Squeezing it in warning for him to control himself when she sees his distraught state in the corner of her eyes.Â
The action surprises the boy. Draco sucking in a breath and forcing himself to relax. Once he does, Y/n removes her touch and waits to be dismissed by Voldemort. As soon as the order is given sheâs quick to leave the table, taking Snapeâs outstretched hand where he apparates them back home.Â
âHow do you plan--?â he doesnât let her finish the question.
âI have it covered.â Moving to his study, he hears her footsteps behind him, Y/n slamming the door shut once theyâve entered. He looked annoyed, âThis doesnât concern you.â
âThe hell it does!â she shouted, making him clench his jaw. Ever since the incident at the Astronomy tower the two had been on edge with each other. For one, the Order discovered their marriage causing Y/n to lose her shit. Now she was public enemy #2 in their eyes. Or 3 if you count Voldermort at the top. Her odds of the Order leaving her the fuck alone decreased immensly.Â
Second, Snape told her of his and Dumbledoreâs arrangement. That the headmaster asked Snape to kill him. A secret Y/n had trouble wrapping her head around and prayed to a higher power no one, especially Bellatrix, found out about.Â
Crossing over to him where he stood at his desk, Y/n caught his wrist to make him look at her. âIn case you have forgotten, dear husband, we are playing both sides right now. You say you want to protect Harry PotterâŠjust how do you plan to do that during an ambush you helped orchestrate? What the hell are we supposed to do if Harry Potter dies at his hands Saturday next?â Y/n squeezed his wrist tighter, âIâm putting all my trust into Severus Snape. You promised me my freedom when this was all over.âÂ
âI havenât forgotten, Y/n,â he removes himself from her grip, âYou say you trust me. Do so, and you wonât be let down.â
Y/n didnât know where it all went wrong. One moment she was flying in the sky, the next sheâs being rammed into by Bill Weasleyâs Thestral. Pain erupted in her chest, likely from a broken rib and caught herself on the creature's satchel. Her hand is then grabbed by the imposter Harry seated behind Bill, keeping Y/n steady to prevent falling to her death. Using her talent of legitimins, Y/n identifies the imposter as Billâs fiance Fluer.Â
âYouâre not Harry Potter,â she whispers, causing Harry (Fluer) to widen her eyes. The accusation was confirmed when Fluerâs voice responded, âHow did you know?â Before Y/n could answer, however, the world around her became black. Having been stunned by Bill who realized what was happening behind him. Â
Acting fast, Fluer reached with her other hand to further grasp Y/nâs now limp body onto the Thestral.Â
âWhat are you doing?â Bill shouted over the chaos, âSheâs one of them!â
âAnd she saved your life in the Astronomy tower, William!â Fluer screamed back. Using all her might, she hauled Y/n over the bottom half of the creature. Gripping the material of her robes and dress while ducking at the incoming curses around them.Â
When they finally made it to the Burrow, the shaky landing caused Fluer to lose her hold. Y/n fell to the ground, still unconscious. Bruises were sure to form on her body. Bill leaped off the Thestral, helped Fluer off and rushed to Y/n. After confirming she was alive by pressing his fingers to her pulse, the oldest Weasley took the death eater into his arms and followed Fluer into the house. But not before telling Fluer to take her wand which had been discarded into a ditch.
âWait here,â he said, placing Y/n in the care of Fluer by setting her on a bench outside the door, Bill entered to find the others gathered around an injured George. After the shock wore off of his brotherâs state, Bill announced the death of Mad-eye and departure of Mundungus. Deepening the already intense mood.
âThereâs something else,â he hesitated, eyes flickering to find everyone staring at him with unease. They watched Bill exit the house, only to return a second later dragging the last person they ever expected. Gasps rang out, wands drawn in Y/nâs direction. The witch barely conscious but fighting against Billâs hold. Eventually succumbing to sleep once again due to the pounding in her head.Â
With the help of Remus, the two propped Y/n in a chair, casting a spell to bind her hands and legs. âWhereâs her wand?â Remus urgently looked around, relieved to see the object in Fluerâs possession. He turned to Bill, âWhat the hell happened?â
As the oldest Weasley explained, Molly approached the woman, assessing her carefully. Y/n had dirt and grime in her hair. A small cut to her temple. Likely from a rock when she fell from the Threstral. Her breathing was shaky, pained groans escaping her mouth which Molly assumed was from trauma to her chest. Although the others were against it, Molly began performing healing spells on Y/n, âHad it not been for her my son would be dead! I do not care what side she is on--I shall offer the same courtesy.âÂ
The group was alerted to Y/nâs consciousness twenty minutes later when she groaned. Shifting in the chair, her eyelids fluttered briefly before opening to bright lights. Moaning, Y/n straightened up aware of the audience in front of her, however she did not appear concerned. Even with several wands pointing at her. âHmmmph,â she blinks a few times, settling her gaze on Remus, âwhat an unpleasant situation we have here. I hoped to be dead before experiencing this.â
It pained Remus to hear her words. Thinking back to that little girl heâd met on the corner of Diagon Alley with James, perched on Siriusâ hip. That little girl was gone. In her place was a woman with the Devil on her shoulder. âWe donât want to hurt you, Y/n.â
Tilting her head as though she found his statement funny, she replies âIs that supposed to make me feel at ease?â rolling her eyes she adds, âSurely you couldâve come up with something better.â
Remus sighed, realizing it was about to be a long night. âWeâre willing to negotiate terms if you provide us with information. A lesser sentence if you will,â he chose his next words carefully, seeing her demenor shift, âso long as you are upfront and answer all of our questions with honesty.â Y/nâs face tightened, no longer humored. Remus felt his stomach lurch, not breaking the intense eye contact she set with him.
âYou threaten me--.â
âItâs not a threat--,â he insists but Y/n continues.
âWith a cell in Azkaban and expect me to comply? By being a snitch?â she shakes her head, eyes full of fury. âGo to hell, Remus Lupin.â
âIt doesnât have to be this way.â
âOh?â She grumbles with a glare, âand how else do you suggest it be? Iâm not stupid--a tad mad if we want to get technical, but you all have yourselves to blame for that.â Y/n was referring to the Order not taking her in during the First Wizarding War. Sirius warned them of his family and the Death Eaters recruiting her at a young age. Yet no attempt to protect Y/n was initiated.Â
The werewolfâs face fell, âHad we known--.â
âKnown what?!â She jumped forward in her chair as the dam of pent up resentment and anger broke, making several flinch at the sudden movement. A few wands pointed up but she paid them no mind. âThat Iâd become a Death Eater against my will? That Iâd be forced to use the Cruciatus Curse on the Longbottoms or face my sisterâs wrath?â She spat with ferocity. Pupils nearly pitch black it made her appear demonic. âYou knew what my family was like! Sirius knew--Itâs why he left! And you did nothing to save me.â Leaning back in the chair, Y/n finished with, âGo ahead and kill me. Iâm not telling you shit.â
Remus runs a hand through his hair, his patience running thin and stress levels rising. âY/n, Iâm trying to help you here. Weâre giving you the opportunity to avoid a lifetime in jail if you help us--help us end this war.â When his efforts are exhausted Remus gestures to the man behind him, âKingsley has Veritaserum and we will use it if necessary.â Now this has her smirking, chin raising in challenge.Â
âGo ahead,â her voice lowers an octave, sending chills along his arms, âI welcome you to.â Weary of her acceptance, the adult members of the Order all exchange looks before Kingsley approaches. Y/n tilts her head back, watching Kingsley unscrew the vial and pour the tiny amount of liquid onto her tongue. Once itâs entered her stream, the woman cracks her neck and returns her attention to Remus.Â
He clasped his hands in his lap, leaning in his chair. âHowâd you know about tonight?â
Y/n pretends to think, âI think I saw an advertisement in the Daily Prophet. Yeah,â she nods her head, acting serious. âThat was it.âÂ
Remusâs own head falls to his chest, the others visibly confused. The potion was to make her tell the truth. Pretty much against her will. Thinking it may have not settled in yet, Remus asks another question. âWho told him we were moving Harry?âÂ
Deciding to play along, Y/n shrugs her shoulders, âYaxley.â Lie. She held back a chuckle at his confused reaction.
âHow did he know?â
âOverheard it.â Lie.
âWhere?â
âDiagon Alley I assume.â Lie.
âFrom who?â
âI donât know.â Lie.
âBut heâs the one who told Voldemort.â Y/n rolled her eyes at that, gesturing to her binded hands.
âObviously since weâre sitting in this predicament.â She sees the frustration on Remus, as well as the others. Yet, the witch couldnât help but feel entertained. âAnything else?â
âWhatâs your relationship to Severus Snape?âÂ
âHeâs my husband,â She didnât miss the way the Order reacted to the news. Upset but not surprised. No point in lying. They already knew about their marriage from what Snape told her. The truth of why, however, was still a secret.Â
âWhy did he kill Dumbledore?â Harry stepped forward, drawing her attention to him. Anger was written all over his face. Filled with absolute hatred. Something Y/n had expected when her husband murdered the man he looked up to.Â
âYou were there, right?â she asked, head tilting with curiosity. âSnape mentioned youâd been below the observatory deck.â Tsking, Y/n surveyed him. She was getting under his skin. âWhy do you think he did it?â
âI think he did it to save himself. He was a coward,â Harry saw the way her face tightened. Taking offense to his words. A mere speck of what someone could label as affection or respect to her spouse.Â
âSeverus Snape is many things,â she sounded sinister, anger seeping off every word. âBut a coward is not one of them.â
âFat lot of good coming from you.â Harry antagonized her. âYou hightailed it out of the ministry when Sirius died. He was your own cousin.â
âMy cousin who left me a sitting duck for the wolves,â Y/n reminded the boy, temper rising. An indicator with how her voice was strained. âLetâs not forget you all thought he was responsible for betraying your parents. Didnât even hesitate to believe he was guilty.â That cut them all deep. âAnd I adored Sirius at one point in life. Much like you, Harry Potter,â she let out a deep sigh, attempting to calm herself, âlook at where it got me.â Exhaustion was beginning to take over the witch. Her body ached and there was a pounding in her head. Mollyâs healing spells worked to patch any internal injuries Y/n had, but she still was drained from the whole ordeal.Â
They were getting off track. Having had enough of the tension, Remus butted in, âAnswer the question, Y/n. Why did Snape kill Dumbledore?â
âI donât know,â she simply stated. Lie. âHe didnât say. AlthoughâŠI can only assume it was to spare my poor nephew.â Another shrug, âAnd survive the unbreakable vow. Which you already know of.âÂ
Harry shook his head, âI donât believe you.â His gut was telling him there was more to the story.Â
âHarry, she took the Veritaserum,â Hermoine pointed out gently, missing the flicker of amusement from Y/n. âSheâs telling the truth.â
âHermoineâs right, Harry,â Ron agreed, moving beside his friend. âThereâs no way she could be lying.â
âHow much did you give her, Kingsley?â Arthur questioned, also suspicious of Y/nâs answers. Kingsley held up the vial. More than half was consumed.
âEnough.â
âSomethingâs off,â he murmured, rubbing his chin. A bickering match ensued between members of the Order. Harry, Arthur, and even Y/nâs niece, Tonks, had difficulty believing Y/n told the truth. The majority, however, voiced opposition.Â
âVeritaserum is a very potent and strong potion, Harry,â Remus stood from his chair, but before he could say anything else, Y/nâs voice took over.
âWhich you just wasted.â
Silence consumes the room. Processing what she said. Thatâs not possible.
Heads turning to the witch, Y/n starts to chuckle in delight. A sight unnerving to the Order as it becomes more deranged. Harry looked to his friends for an answer, but they were just as perplexed as him. Y/nâs voice turns taunting, âOh my, you lot really are daft at times. Have you forgotten? Or did you believe it to be a rumor?â Her grin is wicked, finding the scene entertaining much to their dismay. âIâm a skilled Occulmens.âÂ
It was as though the dementors arrived with how cold the air became. Everyone falters, stilling at the revelation. It could only mean one thing:
Everything Y/n said potentially was a lie.Â
The Death Eater tsked, âWhat do you think I did with all that time I had rotting in the middle of the ocean?â she laughs again, more menacingly. âYour little potion is useless! My mind is more protected than Azkaban. For all you know I fabricated everything I just told you.â Her taunting laugh continues, shredding the last ounce of patience the Order had for her.Â
Remus kneeled in front of her chair and smacked the table, causing everyone besides Y/n to flinch. âEnough of these games! I have tried to give you the benefit of the doubt knowing youâd been forced into this life, but you have proven to be not so different from your associates.â Now that was a nail to the coffin. Any and all of Remusâs hope for Y/n having some level of good in her gone. âThis is your final warning--or we will throw you in Azkaban for the rest of your life for good!â
Never straying her stare, the Death Eater murmered cooly, âYou have no idea how reasonable Iâve been.â This time it was Remusâs turn to scoff.
âHolding children hostage at the Ministry, attacking Hogwarts, marrying Snape, and sending assassins after the officials who locked you up,â He lists off, surprising the Order with the last detail. They had heard rumors of Azkaban guards and Ministry officials killed in the last few months, but assumed it was Bellatrix. âI donât see how thatâs being reasonable.â
Y/n gave a sound that was a mix of a chuckle and scoff, leaning forward in her chair. âSending those assassins after them instead of myself was mercy.â A chill rose, Harryâs intuition telling him something was about to happen. âAnd despite your hypocrises and insults I have warned you time and time again to simply get out of my way.â Remus saw her hands fidget, tightening his grip on his wand.Â
âYouâve exhausted my patience,â Her voice lowered once more, almost to a whisper as her bottom lip quivered. âBut I do hope you understandâŠthat even now--with whatâs about to happenâŠ..â lips curled into a deathly smirk. âThis is me beingâŠreasonable.â
Faster than the speed of light, Y/n casts a non-verble, wandless spell that mimics a gust a powerful wind, ripping the binds off her hands and ankles. Remus flies onto his back, the lights flicker and burst. The windows and glass shatter. Papers fly. Hermoine screams, echoing amongst the shouts as Ron pulls her into his arms. Molly leaning over an injured George to protect him from shards.Â
Fluer gasps at the feeling of Y/nâs wand in her hand ripped from her. The death eater had snapped her fingers in the chaos with a non-verbal Accio.
With her wand now in her possession, Y/n unleashes another bout of wind, crippling the Order from attacking her. Once satisfied she makes her escape. Black smoke fills the room before flying out the window and into the night sky. The storm inside the burrow seizing.Â
âWhat the bloody hell was that?â Ron coughs, catching his breath.Â
âThat,â Kingsley stands up straight, sore from colliding with the wall which knocked him down. âWas the closest thing to experiencing the Devil on Earth.â

Throwing out the Epilogue and Cursed Child, how would you imagine the ending of the series? Like, what comes next after Harry goes to bed after beating Voldemort?
Anonymous asked:
What changes you would like to see in the wizarding world after the war?
Anonymous asked:
If you could rewrite the epilogue of Harry Potter, how would you do it and what changes would you make?
Thank you for the asks, it gave me a reason to try and think more about what I actually want from a post-book 7 story since I usually prefer to diverge from canon before book 7. I already talked a bit about the epilogue here, but this is more of a list of things I would like to see instead of reasons I don't like the existing one. There are going to be a lot of headcanons here, so be ready for that. I don't have something super thought out in terms of how it'll happen or who will be involved in everything in the long run. But I have a few bullet points about the epilogue itself and further in the future for the HP characters.
Like, for the epilogue itself, as I wrote in the past, I'd make it only a few months in the future, not years. What I'd put there is:
Showing a bit of the Golden Trio's friendship, and the three being hopeful about the future.
They are back at Hogwarts for 8th year and offhandedly mention Harry tried to go straight to Auror training and regretted leaving Hogwarts behind so quickly.
Ron was with Harry in Auror training and when Harry told him he was dropping out, Ron dropped out too. Kingsly assures them they could both return and continue the training from the point they dropped out after 8th year (Ron would return, Harry wouldn't).
They all get to worry about a future they weren't sure they'd have.
It's mentioned Neville is helping out Sprout and Harry is helping out the changing roaster of DADA teachers (since McGonagall decided to not really sign one on permanently to avoid the curse until it could be broken).
Some sections of Hogwarts are still a little worse for wear or were rebuilt completely after the battle and it shows.
Society is a little different. I want to see a Hogwarts where houses don't matter as much. Actually, start building the unity the sorting hat sang about. Show Harry has a few Slytherins he's friendly with. Show a pure-blood Slytherin be at least polite to Hermione â show the seeds of change.
Harry and Hermione are both mentioned going to the ministry for various meetings, and we get a hope that the ministry could be changed from within. That the system that let Voldemort and the Death Eaters take over so easily could be helped.
The epilogue won't show the actual changes or politics, just imply they are happening/or will happen. Many of the ex-DA members are primed for key positions in the ministry which would help this change to happen. Still, it would be slow, but now that there is no war, they have time. Like, the epilogue would mention people like Susan Bones getting a good position in the DMLE or something.
They reference rebuilding Diagon Alley and many places that were destroyed along with setting up a war monument and a separate monument for muggleborns.
Basically, I just want to end on a note of hope, of seeing a reason to work towards a future Harry finally had, you know?
But, that note of hope needs to have a bitter taste to it. I'd mention how this year, almost all the students could see the Thestrals leading the carriages to Hogwarts, an entire generation who gazed upon death.
Like, I don't care that much who Harry marries and what he names his kids, so I don't really mind not seeing that and leaving that to each reader to imagine their own future for him. If I were to rewrite the epilogue, that's what I'd do, I'd keep it vague.
As for other things I have in mind for Harry's future after the books, well, I think I mentioned some of them in the post I linked but I'll note down a few:
Harry becomes DADA professor and eventual deputy headmaster for McGonagall and Professor Potter doesn't let an abused kid go unnoticed. He's going to do something about it, for all houses.
Ron does still become an Auror, and I see him getting really good and valued there. I want Ron to become head of the DMLE instead of Harry.
I like to imagine Hermione becoming an Unspeakable actually, I think she'd enjoy it more than politics. Like, as much as she cares, she isn't very politically savvy. She is going to use Harry's Potter Wizengamot seat and war hero status (+ her own war hero status) to help him and other ex-DA members push for more creature rights and changes in the Wizarding World though.
Neville becomes a Herbology Professor and head of Gryffindor, and he and Harry become closer friends when they work together at Hogwarts.
Harry also breaks the DADA curse, either by figuring it out (he's very intuitive about magic and he knows how Tom thinks, so he could figure it out) or the curse recognizes him and just ceases. Even if Harry isn't a Horcrux anymore, I think carrying Tom's soul for so long had a lasting effect, so he just might get a pass. And even if the curse doesn't break, honestly, if anyone knows how to survive a year at Hogwarts when something's out to kill you it's the Boy-Who-Lived. So the curse might break after it fails once because it's Harry James Potter, Master of Death extraordinaire, and exception to magic.
I think Luna continues editing the Quibbler with her father, as well, and after the war, it becomes a real competition for the Prophet. She still becomes a Magizoologist in my headcanon.
Harry would eventually become Hogwarts headmaster, I think, in my version of events. Obviously, this would be way later, but I really see it happening. I'm hoping in his time as headmaster he'll finally fire Binns and get an actual history teacher into this school.
As for shipping, in my ultimate vision, Harry and Theo get together either during 8th year or by meeting in the ministry, maybe in Wizengamot warlock conventions (since Theo's father was a Death Eater and is either dead or in Azkaban, it'll be Theo there). I believe Theo wasn't actually in Britain during book 7 and the war and that's how he got out of being a Death Eater. He wasn't mentioned among the Slytherins that were in Hogwarts, so it's possible. I disagree with everything Cursed Child did to my boy Theo Nott except him being an Unspeakable since I can see that happening. His and Hermione's work dynamic in the DOM could be really fun, I think and it might be how he and Harry start talking.
For everyone else, I'm honestly less picky. I'm fine with Ron and Hermione together at the end, but I'd also be fine if they won't be, so đ€·ââïž

HD fic recs : Career - Aurors (part 1)
Here are a few recs where both Harry and Draco are Aurors. This is part one of three and focuses on shorter fics (up to 20k). Listed in alphabetical order, as always.
but first, we fight by @nv-md [8k]
Fighting with Draco Malfoy has never been quite this  thrillingâŠor this frustrating. Harryâs always horny, Dracoâs in  denial, and there simply isnât enough time in the day to fight crime and  watch your ex-archnemesis wash his arse. Or what itâs like to be in love with Draco Malfoy and have to see him naked in the goddamn shower.
Christmas With Draco by @dracogotgame [9k]
Harry tries to give a two year old Draco the best Christmas ever.
Dark Places by @bixgirl1 [8k]
Harry and Draco have been Auror partners and even friends for the last few yearsâdamn good ones, at thatâwhich is why Harryâs never tried to change their relationship despite his feelings. Â Until, of course, theyâre on assignment and get locked in a wardrobe together. Remix of Leontinaâs âPure Imaginationâ
Draco L Malfoy (the L stands for legs) by @starquestingfordrarry [1k]
Harry could spend the rest of his life in the embrace of Draco Malfoyâs legs. If he was lucky, he would.
Fall on the Earth by @dodgerkedavra [15k]
Harry Potter hates being separated from Draco Malfoy. Not because heâs in love with him, for Merlinâs sake! Because theyâre Auror Partners. One time is all it takes for Draco to be attacked with an illicit potion. Until it wears off, Harryâs job is taking care of his partner. Harry thinks the effects of the potion canât possibly be as serious as Robards says. He thinks wrong.
Feeling Everything (from lust to truth) by badjujuboo [7k]
The one thing Draco wanted from Harry was the one thing Harry wouldnât give. But the sex was great
Fool rushes in by oldenuf2nb / @dianacopland [15k]
In a burst of unexplained magic, Harry Potterâs Auror partner Draco Malfoy has simply disappeared. Frantic with worry, terrified that something really terrible has happened to the other man, Harry realizes that what he feels for him just might be more than friendship.
The Great Magic Sex Mushroom Fiasco by @magnolia822Â [6k]
Lost in the Siberian wilderness without food, Aurors Potter and Malfoy are forced to improvise, with unexpected consequences âŠ
A House on Fire by @p1013 [5k]
For the last five years, Auror Draco Malfoy has walked into his office with hardly a glance at the illusioned window taking up the back wall. It looks out over an imagined London, a perfectly bright and brilliant view of the city that hides the smog and rain and dirt that clings to the city like a patina of time that can never be worn away. It's always a perfect summer's day with soft, white clouds that float through the painfully bright blue sky like a dream. He likes to imagine the gentle breeze that ripples the surface of the Thames brushing across his skin, since he'll never be able to actually feel it. After all, his office is located on the second floor and is, therefore, underground. Or at least that's what he did before the seventh of October, 2009.
if i could never give you peace by @poisonivy206 [17k]
There are all these bruises on Harryâs memory. A blond boy with a hand outstretched. On a broom. Walking the halls of Hogwarts like a ghost. Climbing up to the Astronomy Tower. On and on, the moments in which Draco Malfoy has cut into him, buried himself in him, until what held Harry together were all the ways in which he wanted to take Draco apart. And now his skin is so close, burning hot, his grip like a vice on Harryâs bicep, on the back of his neck. He smells like the forest, like ashes, like sweat and memories. Eleven years after the Battle of Hogwarts, Aurors Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy are forcibly brought together by a new case thatâs bound to reopen old wounds. Enter a Firewhisky problem, prejudices that never really go away, and an obsession as old as time.
Is This Love? by @phd-mama [3k]
Draco wouldnât call himself a tender man. He fights the forces of evil for a living, trying his best to pay penance for the evil heâs done. Heâs fought and killed in the name of duty, and when heâs not on duty, he tends either to play hard or retreat alone. He doesnât lean on anyone, and he knows heâs not the first person anyone goes to when they need care. Comfort. That all changes tonight.
It Came Without A Warning by @p1013 [5k]
The locker room door had opened, not surprising considering how many other Aurors were involved in the sting, and there was a set of footsteps, ones Harry had learned to recognise over the last three months. âMalfoy?â he yelled. âIs that you?â âPiss off, Potter,â was the exhausted response, and though Harry knew his recalcitrant partner wouldnât be able to see it, he smiled.
Little Talks by @femmequixotic and @noeeon [11k]
Dracoâs been shagging the Head Auror for months now, and heâs sure itâs just a fling. Until Harry asks him to a Quidditch match, that is, and things go horribly wrong.
Observations by penguin474 [17k]
When his new Auror partner turns out to be Draco Malfoy, Harry isnât pleased, but there are surprises waiting.
Pinky Promises Are Powerful Magic by megyal [12k]
Ickle Harry wants to stay with his newest hero.
The Safe House by @emmagrant01 [10k]
Aurors Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy are forced to spend Christmas together in a safe house. Bet you can guess what happens. ;-)
Special Magic by lauren3210 [7k]
Harry was seriously considering the fact that his partner might be completely insane.
Summer Place by @wolfpants [14k]
Draco has the perfect life: a perfect house on a perfect street with his perfect husband. Itâs all heâs ever wanted. So why does something still feel wrong?Â
That which hurts (and is desired) by @shealwaysreads ( onereader ) [19k]
Draco was lying still, and pale, on a bed in a private room in St Mungoâs. The sheets were white, clean, enchanted against stains, vanishing the blood that kept spilling out of him. He hadnât moved in two days. Not a twitch of his elegant fingers. Not a blink of his fierce eyes. Harry couldnât even see the faint flutter of his pulse in his throat from where he stood at the foot of the bed, helpless, impotent, furious. There is nothing Harry wouldnât do for the people he cares about. As it turns out, that might bring him everything heâs ever wanted.
Title of Their Sex Tape by @cibeewastaken [12k]
What are the Wizarding worldâs most elite law enforcers doing when they arenât catching criminals? It seems Auror Malfoy is often caught throwing food into Auror Potterâs mouth when heâs mid-yawn. This story isnât about Draco throwing food at Harry. What it does have is: Undercover! Heists! Draco pining for Harry! Harry being oblivious, but also canât help noticing how good Draco smells! Banters and jokes! Thatâs about it.Â
To Be Out of Your Own (and consumed by another) by @cassiaratheslytherpuff [18k]
By now even Harry recognises the pattern; heâd be an idiot not to. Heâll have sex, and in the moment itâll be amazing. In the moment he simply is, he feels without thinking. Good, bad, pleasure and pain, he can just let go and feel he isnât the one in charge. Then he wakes up the next morning feeling disgusting and worthless and swears to never do it again. Still, it helps him forget about his stress, his anxiety and his hopeless crush on his Auror partner so he keeps going back.
What Real Thing? by @l0vegl0wsinthedark [12k]
They donât cuddle, they donât talk about their relationship (or lack thereof) and they certainly never fall asleep in each otherâs arms.
The Way You Say My Name by InnerLilith [5k]
In which Malfoy calls Harry pet names to get him flustered and riled up, and Harry gets flustered and riled up because he secretly likes it. The problem is that Malfoy is only teasingâŠor is he?
When the Fallout Comes by @maesterchill [7k]
Draco Malfoy, hard-as-nails Hit Wizard, has a secret obsession. Well two of them. Or ten, depending how far that metaphor can stretch. Itâs hard to put a finger on exactly when it tipped from the occasional off-hand observation into something more gripping, but suffice to say itâs now getting a touch out-of-hand. Hands. Itâs Potterâs hands. Heâs obsessed with Potterâs hands.
I hope you enjoy these stories as much as I did!

Hi! I have a few ideas for Spencer Reid x Reader romantic fics that you could use if you would like. I was thinking about a Hogwarts au with BAU as friends at Wizarding school or where they are adults and work at Ministry as Aurors (analyzing behaviour of dark magic users?).
Or a Star Trek au and them being a team at the ship or a storyline with Spencer being Vulcan and experiencing Pon Farr (Vulcan mating ritual).
Thank you in advance!
First of all, I really LOVED this request. I belong to both fandoms but I write a little better for Harry Potter. I thought about placing them in the school because I wanted to give it a more cheerful tone, but if you're interested I could write about the second suggestion later (where they work in the ministry of magic).
The houses where the characters are assigned are courtesy of this publication and the reader does not have a defined house, so you can imagine it in yours. I hope you enjoy! đ€

Visits to Hogsmeade have always been the best part of winter, partly because of all the delicious hot drinks you can have and partly because of being able to spend time with all your friends.
Before entering Hogwarts you could not consider yourself a very sociable person, however, as time went by there were certain people who managed to welcome you until you were a group solid enough to win the admiration of students and teachers. After all, seeing so many youths from different houses getting along was not a common thing.
Right now you were walking with Emily and JJ, two exceptional Slytherin girls who, breaking all kinds of stereotypes, were quite sweet. You were going to meet Elle, Penelope and Kate, from Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Gryffindor respectively, at The Three Broomsticks to drink something delicious and catch up on many things that you couldn't discuss during the break.
âDo you think Professor Gideon will give us an extension for the lessons we have to deliver tomorrow?â
âGideon? No way! I could understand it from Professor Rossi, but heâŠâ
âDo we have homework from Professor Rossi?â Em asked absently and you two laughed at the same time.
âGood morning, girls.â
âMorning, Professor Blake,â you sang in unison, after seeing the woman crossing the street accompanied by Professor McGonagall.
The Three Broomsticks was packed with people moving around, laughing, and sharing drinks. You managed to distinguish, from the higher grades, some prefects gathered at a table and two of them greeted you with a smile: Lewis from Ravenclaw and Hotchner from Hufflepuff. You had seen them a couple of times due to sneaky night visits with your friends, but nothing went beyond that.
You walked a little further and finally caught a glimpse of the table with your friends. They werenât alone, because in the same place there were four boys that you were very used to: your friend Luke and the charming Derek Morgan from the lion house, the kind Matt who was chatting with his housemate, Penny, and sitting in silence was that sweet boy who made your heart race...
âHey!â Derek was the first to greet them and everyone started squeezing themselves against the old couches so that the three of you had room.
Emily purposely pushed you first to take the place next to Spencer and when your shoulders collided with his, you saw him smile sheepishly.
âHow nice to see you. I didn't know you'd be here."
âNeither do I,â he smiled at you. âMorgan brought me here, he told me we would probably find you.â
You had met the boy through your potions classes, when the two of you had to sit together due to lack of space at another table. Even so, the incident hadnât gone completely bad because you discovered that he was a great boy, it was just that his shyness prevented him from actively participating in everything related to the social aspect.
When you discovered that Derek was a mutual friend, he didn't hesitate to start inviting the brunette to watch his Quidditch practice and sometimes you kept him company so he wouldn't feel bored. You discovered that what you had in common was a fascination with the dark arts and criminals, a passion that would later unite your entire group, and over the years your friendship consolidated into what you saw now. But as time went by you grew up and by this point Spencer was already too handsome and gentlemanly to ignore. Spending so much time with him inevitably gave you a small crush on the smartest guy in the entire room.
During visits to Hogsmeade it was common to see Spencer in bookstores or quieter places, so you were happy that they had taken him out of his routine so that he ended up with his leg stuck to yours, with barely any room to move.
Once you were there, the entire table became a tide of murmurs and laughter in which you participated from time to time, especially when you had to corroborate one of your housemates' anecdotes.
âDo you want me to order you something to drink?â Spencer asked cordially, as a waiter came over to ask if you guys wanted to order anything else.
You had never discovered if the Ravenclaw next to you reciprocated your feelings, but actions like that caused you a certain illusion that you didn't want to pay too much attention to.
âHuh, Butterbeer?â You responded with a smile and he took care of passing the message to the clerk, making sure to also slip a couple of galleons into his hand to pay âSo the tutoring went well, right?â you tried to joke.
Your friend had found a prosperous activity by offering tutoring for those who needed it and although he only accepted donations, many rich children preferred to pay an excellent salary to have a private teacher's class 24 hours a day, which assured them a good grade. He was always willing to help anyone at the table at no cost and he was undoubtedly the head of his house's favorite, but everyone pretended not to notice it.
âI could say yesâ
âBut I'll only let you buy me one,â you threatened while he smiled and shook his head, possibly planning to buy you everything you asked for despite your complaints.
âHave you heard what happened in the prefects' bathroom on the fifth floor?â you all heard Elle say, who always got the best gossip from who knows where.
When the entire group leaned in to listen better, your cheek was almost touching Spencer's and in that position it was not the best idea to turn to look at him, because when he did the same your lips were about to touch and by instinct you moved away to avoid it, cheeks flushing in response.
Even though everyone was paying attention to Elle's story, you could feel Spencer shift slightly uncomfortably in his spot and you hoped it wasn't your fault.
âBut hey, the really important question here isâŠâ Kate began, taking a long gulp of her hot chocolate just for dramatic effect âDo you guys have a date for the Yule ball yet?â
The yule ball, you had almost forgotten about that. You had received a few proposals, but you hadn't responded to any of them yet and a part of you was hoping that with this Spencer would have the courage to invite you, because you didn't want to go with anyone else but him.
Emily was the first to tell her plans to invite none other than Prefect Aaron and you all burst into mocking boos at your friend's brazen plan. JJ would go with another Hufflepuff boy named Will, Penelope would go with Morgan like the best friends they were, while the rest had partners that you didn't know yet but that they would make sure to introduce you to.
When everyone talked about their plans they looked in the direction of Spencer and you, as if they wanted to hear your plans too.
âI have received some proposals, but I still don't know who I should say yes toâ
âI'm not goingâ
Hearing Spencer say that made your heart drop and although you tried to maintain your composure your friends couldn't help but notice the disappointed expression that you tried to hide by drinking your Butterbeer.
Why didn't Spencer want to go to the ball? You had already imagined him wearing a nice gala suit with those well-combed golden locks and a corsage the color of your dress, but your hopes seemed destined to die there.
âCome on, Reid! "Everyone's going," Luke murmured, but the man just put on a tight-lipped smile and looked away.
You didn't even want to look at him or you knew your eyes would give you away, so you tried to focus on something else.
Seeing that he wouldn't offer any more reasons, the talk continued and when your beer was finished you felt Spencer lean a little closer to you, until his lips were at the height of your ear. Out of inertia you tilted your head a little to get into a position that involved the closest possible approach.
âDo you want to go for a walk?â he asked softly, sending a shiver through your entire body.
You wanted to lean closer until you melted into him and, with any luck, the movement would force him to kiss you on the cheek.
âI would love to,â you managed to respond when you finally shook off those fantasies and he smiled next to you while he got up from his place.
"Where are you going?"
âOutside, for a walk,â you informed. The same mischievous smile crossed Elle and Derek's faces.
"Oh, sure. Have fun walking, lovebirds,â she murmured while the man simulated exaggerated kissing sounds.
"You guys are idiots"
You grabbed your jacket while you heard everyone laughing and even with that sound in the background you started walking with your friend towards the exit, trying not to pay attention to the romantic advances they were making.
As soon as you got out of there you noticed the severe change in weather and rubbed your hands against each other while blowing air on them in hopes of keeping some heat. The white snow covered the entire town and it was quite a beautiful sight.
âPeace and tranquility,â your friend sighed, after taking a deep breath, and you laughed.
âWere you that suffocated in there?â
âI don't like it when everyone talks at the same time. Too much noise"
You knew that Spencer was a little different from the others and sometimes he could feel uncomfortable with social situations, but most of the time when he wanted to get out of there he asked you to accompany him. Was that some kind of sign or were you just misunderstanding things?
âHave you bought anything at Honeydukes yet?â you asked to open the conversation.
You didn't know whether to put your hands in your pockets or keep them crossed to protect yourself a little from the cold air, so you just kept rubbing them together.
"Yes a while ago. Buy acid pops, frogs, and jelly slugsâ
âWe buy Bertie Bottâs every flavor beansâ
âSince the time I tried one that tasted like rotten eggs, I can't even look at them without gagging,â he confessed while wrinkling his nose, a gesture that you had long ago discovered was common for him.
âEmily says she once tried one that tasted like cat litter, but I don't believe her. And if I were to believe her it would be very disgusting because come on, how would you know what that taste tastes like if you haven't tried it before?â
Spencer's laugh had always been a sound that melted you from the inside out, one you could listen to for hours without getting tired.
You continued along the cobblestone path chatting pleasantly about some academic matters, a little about the future, and sometimes about the most trivial things, until you were far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the town.
There was a little desolate bench next to the road and both of you silently agreed to head over there so you could sit for a moment.
You could see his mismatched socks underneath the robe and the obvious height difference made you able to move your legs back and forth. There was just a space between you where you rested your hand, your pinky almost touching his.
âDid you know that all snowflakes are symmetrical? They have six sides and always reflect light as if they were precious stones. I read it the other day in a book.â
The comment was about the fact that, of course, small flakes of snow had begun to fall. You smiled from ear to ear and stretched out your tongue to capture one, while Spencer watched you sweetly from the opposite side.
âWhen you were little did you play in the snow?â
âMy mom never let me do it. I was a sickly child.â
âAnd now you're not?â you asked softly.
Just when he was about to respond, your hands reached up to his neck to adjust his two-color scarf and Spencer held his breath at the closeness, while he focused on your cheeks flushed from the cold.
You were the prettiest girl he had ever met and he was afraid to tell anyone, because he would know that when a secret was told sooner or later it ended up reaching the ears of whoever he was trying to hide from. Although he believed that probably all of Hogwarts could tell that he liked you just by the way he sighed whenever you were around.
âSpencer?â
"What?"
âAre you sickly now too?â you asked again and he felt stupid for getting too nervous to forget what you had just told him.
"A bit"
"Well, I hope so. Come"
You took his wrist to guide him out of your seat and led him to a blank space on the floor, where in spring it was probably full of grass, immediately throwing yourself with your gaze towards the sky.
"What are you doing?"
âLie down, weâre going to make a snow angel.â
Spencer looked hesitant for a second, but then he knelt next to you, imitating your position somewhat awkwardly. When you started to move your arms and legs he thought about regretting it, although in the end he didn't, and very soon the two of you were already laughing out loud at how clumsy the situation was.
At some point you stopped and turned slightly until you were face to face, looking at each other's flushed skin and bright smiles. Looking at him you thought about how happy it made you to be with him, more so than with any of your other friends, although you didn't know if it was due to the boy's calm nature or simply your feelings for him reflecting back.
âWe're definitely going to catch a cold,â he observed intelligently as he sat up and shook the snow out of his brown hair, which only made you laugh more. âCome on, I don't think snot matches your future dress.â
You took the hand he was offering to help you up and knew that if you didn't take advantage of that opportunity you probably wouldn't be able to talk to him about it again.
âYou're really not going to the ball?â
You were sitting next to him, too close for the boy's poor nerves, and there was a clear tone of disappointment in your words. As if that weren't enough, you still hadn't let go of his hand.
âHuh, I don't think so. I don't like that kind of environmentâ he excused himself, making a small face. You nodded with understanding, but evidently discouraged âBesides, no one has invited me.â
âAnd why haven't you invited a girl?â
Spencer looked away at your question and cringed a little from his spot, as if he were afraid to answer you. You waited a minute for him to think.
âI just want to save myself the embarrassment of them saying no.â
âWhy would anyone say no to you?â you immediately asked in genuine disbelief.
âBecause I'm not handsome! And because I spend my time in the library instead of training quidditch and I'm not even athletic and... I don't know, because I'm weird."
âOh, shut up, Spencerâ the stern tone in your voice surprised him, but before he could say anything you continued talking âYou're a great guy, you're dedicated and studious, you're kind. You're not weird at all. Well⊠maybe a little bit, but not as a negative trait, but as something that makes you stand outâ
"So you think?" He asked and you nodded effusively. âI still donât think thereâs anyone left for me.â
âCome with meâ you breathed out without thinking.
You had wanted him to come with you so much that you didn't even care if you invited him or he did, you just wanted to dance with him and have a valid reason to hold his hand. Even if you were doing it for no reason right now.
"Go where?"
âTo the ball, genius!â You laughed nervously. âI donât have a partner yet.â
âBut⊠you said you had several invitations,â he reminded you, clearly confused. He had dismissed the idea that you were interested when you had said that, contrary to the idea you wanted to give him.
âYes, but none of them are as charming as you.â
You didn't even know where you had gathered the courage to flirt with him but luckily it seemed to be working. Spencer was quiet for a moment and although you couldn't tell it he was fighting to keep his brain from spontaneously combusting.
Were you really offering him the chance to be your date?
âUnless you're not interestedâŠâ
"No!" he interrupted you. In his eyes you could see the shine of the snow and a certain enthusiasm that calmed you greatly âI would love to go with you.â
The smile that crossed your face wasnât normal and you wished you could better hide your joy at his response, but no matter how hard you tried, you knew it would be impossible.
âIt's probably a bit bland and superficial, but I think we can have fun.â
âDid you know that balls were initially used for courtship? In Victorian times they were the social space where a gentleman could look for a lady he wanted to marry and there were certain dances, protocols, and rulesâ
âLuckily we don't have all that rigor now,â you exclaimed. âYou just have to take a couple of classes with Professor Gideon to know how to behave.â
âI thank Merlin that Professor Blake was there to help us because otherwise it would have been most embarrassing.â
âI want to see you dance,â you said in an excited tone, while you gave his hand a light squeeze. Against all odds Spencer used that grip to pull you in his direction until he wrapped you in a hug.
âYou're not inviting me because you feel sorry for me, right?â
You gasped almost annoyed.
âFor a Ravenclaw you're sometimes quite an idiot, you know that?â you murmured against his chest, which then vibrated with a nervous laugh.
You wished you could confess to him how much you had wanted to achieve this and erase all those pointless worries with everything you thought about him, but you knew that if you had you would probably have to confess how much you liked him and you weren't ready for this yet.
You were silent for a moment until you dared to separate a little to look him in the eyes and then speak seriously.
âNever think that I invite out of pity, Reid. I invite you because you are my friend and I really like being with you.â
He had to hug you again until you saw his face or somehow you would have discovered more than you should about his true feelings towards you.
âI'm glad to know that,â he sighed, resting his flushed cheek against the top of your head.
Spencer didn't know if his hopeful heart could handle the wait to see you in a beautiful dress and dance with you all night long, but for now he would have to settle for the warmth he felt from having you in his arms, smiling like a fool just for you.

Hear me out...
Andrew Garifield Spiderman is Harry Potter
Gwen Stacey is Draco Malfoy
Just imagine that scene where Spiderman sticks Gwen to the car and she screams out " Peter" only it's Draco screaming out "Potter'
Harry: I gotta go
Draco: I'm coming with you
Harry: Draco, your not coming with me
Draco: Yes I am
Harry: Draco, it's too dangerous
Draco: I'm coming with you, I know the wards and know how to reset the entire system.
Harry: *covers mouth
Draco: I'm coming with you. You know that you need me----
Harry: okay okay. Your coming with me shut the thing.
Sorry, I love you. Don't hate me.
Draco: POTTER!
************************************************
Draco: What's your name?
Harry: You don't know my name?
Draco: " I know your name, I just want to know if you know your name."
Harry: Potter--
Draco:
Harry: Potter, Harry Potter.
*************************************************
Draco : No, dad, I don't want cocoa . Honestly, I'm 17 years old.
Lucius: My mistake. I just thought I remembered somebody saying last week that his fantasy was to live in a chocolate house
Draco: Well that's impractical!* slams door*
*opens door* and fattening! *slams door*
Harry: * smirk* Chocolate house?
*********************************************
Dinner at Malfoy Manor, Lucius is a spokesman for Ministry
Narcissa: Well, did you catch that spider guy?
Lucius: No, we didn't catch him, but we will. He's an amature who is assaulting civilians in the dead of night He' s clumsy. He leaves clues, but he is still dangerous. If we wanted the death eaters off the street, we would have them off the street
Harry: So why haven't you?
Lucius: What are trying to say?
Harry: I'm trying to say that he's trying to help, maybe he's doing something the aurors can't.
********************************************
Auror Mad Eye Moody: Who are you?
Spiderman Harry: No one seems to grasp the concept of the mask. I've done 80% of your jobs. Huh, that! That's how you repay me
***********************************************
Draco: Really, you webbed me to a car?!?! What are you a caveman?
Harry: You shouldn't be here
Draco: Tie me up while you go off to war
Harry: It's not safe here
Draco: I know how to help you!
Harry: What are you doing here
Draco: I know the wards
Harry: that's not the point
Draco: I can reset the system
Harry: You can't be here right now. I'm not messing around. You can't be here, ok. This isn't safe
Draco: Oh, you know what, nobody makes my decisions for me, alright, nobody. This is my choice, my choice, mine.
But with a happy ending because I need the good vibes,
We can backpack this....like maybe he thinks he dies, but somehow comes back as *Gwen spiderwoman* version
Like everyone was oblivated to forget Draco, and so they meet again like the Spiderman into the spider verse in college
Draco: oh, are you okay?
Harry: What? *why am I so sweaty *
Draco: Why are you so sweaty?
Harry: It's a puberty thing. I don't know why I said that. I'm not going through puberty. I did, but I'm done. I'm A MaN.
So you're like new here? We got that in common
Draco: Sure, that's something.
Harry: I'm Harry
Draco: I'm Draaa--go
Harry: Wait, your name is Drago
Draco: Yes, it's Italian. I'm from Italy. No accent, though, cause I was raised here.
(In this scenario, Harry has been hit with a curse that makes his webbing leak in his sweet. Harry tried to do the shoulder touch he learned from Sirius.)
Harry: * Why is this so scary? Am I doing this is slow motion or does it just feel that way*
Draco: I'm kidding, it's... Drake. Not draegon, that would be weird.
Harry: hEY
Draco : Okay then .. uh. I'll see you around
Harry: oh see you. *hand sticks to hair*
Draco: *tries to get away* Hey.
Harry: Oh crap
Draco: Uh, can you let go, please?
Harry: *pulls*
Draco: OW OW OW. It's fine.
Harry: I can't let go
Draco: Harry, let go
Harry: It's just puberty
Draco: I don't think you know what puberty is.
Just relax.
Harry: Okay, I have a plan, I'm going to pull really hard
Draco: That's a terrible plan
Harry: one
Draco: don't do this
Harry: two
Draco: three * flips him*
Harry: ahhhhhhhhhh
Buzz of clippers
Harry: Nice to meet you
Draco: Sure. Total pleasure
**********************************************
After they know secret identities
Harry: wait wait hold on there is a secret society of crime fighting vigilantes.

That brings up an interesting point. Since you seen to be a canon girlie, do you think/feel that Hermione DOES become Minister?
What do you make of Harry being Head of Magical Law Enforcement?
thank you for this question anon! i do think it's very plausible hermione becomes minister of magic. i think it's equally plausible that harry becomes head of magical law enforcement. mostly because, well:
basically: i think both characters' career trajectories are in keeping with the politics of the series as a whole - eg. the goodies are all liberal, pro-state, non-revolutionary moderates who support a gradualist reformist agenda rather than a radical re-imagining of societal organisation. i also think both career options track with who each character is in canon (or rather, who the teenage versions of these characters might become as adults). and i think most of the reasons people are disappointed by either idea, and especially by harry coming 'a cop' then rising up the ranks to run law enforcement, is because they are putting their own more radical ambitions around social justice onto characters that would be poor vehicles for them.
on hermione - i don't know how many people have huge issue with the idea of hermione as minister of magic. i imagine the complaints with this idea come from people who a) like hermione and think hermione's politics as a teenager - identifying systemic injustice and labour exploitation of a subject people - jar with the idea of her settling within a political system that upholds and enforces that structure and others like it, or b) people don't like hermione as much and who think she would be too unpopular to get elected. to the former group, i'd trot out the arguments made far better than people other than me: that hermione's support for the house elves mostly boils down to a bit of a saviour complex and 'be nicer to your slaves', which is not especially radical position, and also point out the ministry's institutional culture seems to reward high-achieving technocrats with establishment credentials (or at least, prior records of academic and professional achievement), and i could see hermione riding that train straight to the top, especially on wave of post-war reformism with diminishing anti-muggleborn prejudice. (the wizarding world also loves a good (and bad) law and is extremely vigilant in enforcing them to a fault. hermione jean granger absolutely loves a rule. it's a match-made in heaven. it is - i fear - giving keir starmer).
to the second point, as i talked a bit about here, the wizarding world does not seem to be a democracy. so hermione wouldn't even need to be especially popular to get the top job. i personally love the idea of hermione quietly parking her commitments to representative democracy to get a bit of good labour legislation passed, or even thinking about wizarding democracy in victorian terms (as long as you're representing what you think the enlightened citizenry want, you're gucci). i mean honestly, what do the masses know! ignore em, queen. they're all kind of pureblood racists anyway!
on harry: i have a feeling it's harry's trajectory that most pisses people off. and i absolutely get it! people hate cops, and harry appears to become one, after spending a lot of the series raging against how shit senior leadership at the ministry of magic tend to be. while i do see the argument that teenage harry has strong criticisms of the ministry for its officials' self-interest, corruption and lack of accountability for their many miscarriages of justice, the truth is that a) harry never really associates being an auror with representing the ministry of magic as an institution, that b) he thinks of lots of characters who work in and around the ministry of magic, including in law enforcement, as agents of good (arthur weasley, kingsley, tonks, mad-eye, amelia bones) and c) harry at no point shows himself interested in thinking about ideology, about political systems, or about a more developed worldview beyond a deep sense of right and wrong and a need for justice. i think harry would like being head of magical law enforcement much less than hermione would like being minister, and i could see him finding the job enormously frustrating both for how much politicking it likely requires and for how little field action it would require. but i don't think that means it's out of character for him to rise up the ranks in pursuit of a more effective justice system and eventually take the top job as a means to an end.
the only other thing i'll say is that i do think there is something a bit culturally specific about imagining these two characters we think of as morally good actors taking up roles within the state to try to work for what they feel to be positive reform and progressive causes. the state appears quite neutrally in the hp series: it's a tool to be picked up and used to affect political change. this reflects its author's worldview, the political moment in which it was written (eg. under blair's new labour), and a longstanding dimension of real-life centre-left social democratic british politics usually expressed, at various times and to varying extents, by the political programme of the labour party throughout its history (to say nothing of a wider european context). it's not an inherently problematic political worldview (it is a core social democratic and socialist principle; it is also my own view of the state...), though ofc it can become so in the wrong hands. for instance, it's a consistent through-line in jkr's political evolution and a staple of her practically single-issue dangerous anti-trans politics even now - terf politics is a lot about wielding the state to remove legal protections from trans people, stop them from accessing health care etc. but the idea of the big state and of laws and government as a positive interventionist tool does colour hp as a text in lots of ways and is reflected in the worldview of many of its characters with which the reader is supposed to side. and i don't think we should overlook that.
conversely, hp is also a series devoid of political movements, and certainly of a meaningful far-left ideology or political sphere. and that's important to remember too if we're interested in canon coherence: hp is a liberal text in that it seemed plausible for its author to vacate a great deal of politics from her world-building. and i think that is, regretfully, worth remembering when we're claiming hermione should have been a trade union agitator or harry should have been an acab abolitionist organiser or whatever.
#meta#basically#hermione đ€ kamala đ€ keir = social outsiders using a legal career as a springboard to careers on the political centre/centre-left#harry just loves a pretty black and white version of justice and also was just thinking of the pension#politics#wizarding world#hp politics

Okay, Iâm feeling the pull of James Potter and Slytherin!Sirius Black again. Verrryyyy short drabble below. Itâs just sexual tension.
â
a good little errand boy
James was twenty-six when he became an Auror. He avoided it for years, ignoring the whisper in the back of his head that the only way he would put Sirius Black in Azkaban was to put the chains on Black himself.
He denied it. He promised himself that he could be satisfied hiding with Lily and Harry until Harry turned eleven, but the damned stories in The Daily Prophet and magazine covers that lauded the most eligible bachelor in the country persisted in mocking him until he finally gave up and told Lily he was getting a job.
By that time, Lily was already working from home as a freelance enchanter, fixing and strengthening charms on magical objects for a repair shop in Diagon Alley. She told him with a cheeky grin to get his lazy bum out of the house.
It took several brutal years of training to become an Auror, and he quickly understood why so few people were admitted to the program. But James was clever and his experience with the Order of the Phoenix propelled him to success; he was satisfied that each agonizing trial and stage of his education brought him closer to bringing Sirius Black to justice. The obsession drove him to wake up early and study before Lily stirred; it compelled him to stay late in Frank Longbottomâs cubicle, rifling through old files and cases, memorizing the history of the department until he knew better than anyone how dark wizards came to power. He traced Blackâs long history from his great grandparents to his involvement with two Ministers for Magic and a little-known scandal with a witch from The Daily Prophet who claimed Black tried to pay her off when she dug too deep into his business. She eventually retracted her accusation and left her career as a journalist and refused to talk to James about it when he found her.
Before he was an apprentice, he thought he would have to hunt for Sirius Black once he became a fully qualified Auror. He imagined chasing him through seedy clubs or breaking into old country houses, but it became very clear that Black would eventually come to him.
Black was a frequent visitor to the Ministry. He slithered into the offices of department heads, spilling Galleons from his palms into the hands of tired bureaucrats who simply wished for the whole war to end so they could go back to delegating instead of handling one disaster after another. Black eased their troubles. He was so generous and helpful with his robust understanding of wizarding politics and clever insight.
James recalled seeing Black in action for the first time when he stumbled upon a very pleased Sirius Black shaking Wilmot Blevinsâ hand the day after Blevins was made head of the Department of Magical Transportation. Black had turned to James, his smile broadening with delight.
âJames Potter,â said Black. There was a feral look to him that made James too furious to consider its implications.
âWhat are you doing here?â James demanded, looking between Black and Blevins.
âMr. Black is very kindly congratulating me on my new position,â said Blevins. His long, face appeared dizzy with admiration and he was perspiring slightly beneath his shining fringe of blond hair. âI was telling Mr. Black that I look forward to working with our most prominent families to ensure I serve our community to the best of my ability. Input from exceptional wizards like Mr. Black keeps our fine institution functioning.â
âIt was a well-deserved promotion,â added Black. âDonât you think, Potter? Mr. Blevins has proven to be an incredibly valuable and cooperative component of this governing body. Wouldnât you agree?â
James wanted the pale, colorless eyes to turn elsewhere but they were observing him with keen interest.
âYes. Congratulations, Mr. Blevins,â said James, gritting his teeth. Of course, he did not think so at all. Blevins was a half-blood who desperately pretended his motherâs pure blood made up for his fatherâs muggle heritage. No doubt Black was falsely promising a place for the greedy Blevins among the notable families.
At this, Black smiled again, but somehow, his teeth appeared sharper and whiter.
âWas there something you needed, Potter?â said Black.
âA signature,â said James, locking eyes with Blevins. âItâs aboutâwell, Auror Moody should have sent a request this morning about the matter. Iâve come to confirm your approval.â
Blevins looked uncomfortable as Blackâs expression slipped into something neutral.
âErâwell, Iâm afraid, Potter, I wonât be signing that just yet.â
âOh,â said James. âErâwhy not? I meanâerâis there a reason? I apologize, sir, I mean, what should I tell Auror Moody? He was expecting this to be signedââ
âTell him I have not had adequate time to investigate whether or not an entire Knight Bus is necessary for this sort of thing,â said Blevins. His eyes shifted from Black back to James. Assured by a flickered look from Black, he straightened and looked down his nose at James. âAssure Auror Moody I am taking the matter very seriously. The trouble is, as much as I would like to help, Iâm afraid my hands are tied. I will do my best, but I canât make any promises.â
James heard the dismissal in his voice. âThank you, Mr. Blevins. Iâll let him know.â
He left, avoiding the smirk on Blackâs aristocratic face, hoping the humiliation wasnât evident on his own. He left quickly, hearing Blevins apologize to Black for the interruption. Had he heard the clink of gold exchanged? Maybe heâd imagined it: Black wasnât that brazen.
Moody would be lividâheâd warned everyone that Blevins was trouble, but James insisted he could get Blevins to approve their request, and now he was returning to his department with his tail between his legs. It was Blackâs fault.
He waited for the lift, breathing deeply. Lily told him to count to ten whenever he had a run-in with Sirius Black. Now that they were no longer in school and James was an Auror, the consequence of James attacking Black would not be detention and points from Gryffindor. It would be foolish to blow all that he had done to become an Auror.
âWhat a good little errand boy. So polite and obedient.â
James went rigid.
âThree years of training, a year of apprenticeship, months of excruciating examsâŠâ said Black. âAll that so you can obey the petty commands of an old codger who should have died twenty years ago. Iâd be disappointed if I were you.â
James gripped the unsigned, rolled-up parchment as Black made a pitying sound beside him. Donât lookâdonât dignify that with a response. Just do your duty. Ignore him, Potter.
Black sighed. âI suppose you must regret rejecting all of those recruiters for Quidditch teams while we were at school, donât you? Imagineâyou nearly played for Puddlemere United. I donât doubt you would have been made Captain, and I reckon you mightâve even played for England in the World Cup this summer. Personally, I find it rather disappointing that you didnât. I would have liked to buy kit with your name on it.â
âWhat were you doing in Blevinsâ office?â
âWelcoming him to his new position.â
âIâm surprised you werenât on your knees.â
To his surprise, Black laughed. âNo need for that with Blevins. He was practically foaming at the mouth when I came in. I suppose weâre lucky you didnât catch him on his knees.â
âBlevins would suck off anyone with pure blood.â
âYeah, reckon he might.â Black bent forward, trying to catch Jamesâs gaze. âHeâs not propositioned you, has he, Potter?â
James nearly responded with a quip he knew would make Black laugh again, but he bit the inside of his cheek instead. It made him furious. Although they hadnât spoken in years, there was an ease between them that was almost irresistible.
âOf course,â Black went on when James was silent, âI wouldnât expect you to take him up on the offer. Ugly bloke, isnât he? Bit of a downgrade from what youâve already got at home.â
âWhat?â James snapped his gaze to him.
Black grinned. âOh, I meant, I am sure you would much prefer to watch Evans and her pretty little mouth suck you off than Blevinsâ ugly mug.â
The lift doors opened suddenly and Black slipped inside, disappearing amongst the throng of passengers.
It was full of people, so much so that James had to squeeze his arms to his sides to wedge himself between them. Like everyone in the lift, he turned and faced the doors, gripping the handle overhead as he quelled the waves of rage that were slamming down on him. Black loved to taunt James about Lilyâheâd always done that, long before Lily admitted she had feelings for James.
The lift took off, and James, distracted by his fury, lost his grip and stumbled backward. A strong pair of hands squeezed his hips, steadying him.
âEasy, Potter.â
The shock of Blackâs hands on him, carefully keeping him from falling over, dispelled rationality. His mind scrambling, James lurched with the lift, still unable to find his footing; he felt Black curl fingers over his wrist to guide Jamesâs hand back to grip the handle above him.
âDonât touch me,â James hissed.
The damned lift jerked to a halt, and he staggered again into Blackâs hard body. There was a low rumble of laughter in his ear as the doors opened, and people streamed in and out, all of them oblivious to the way his heart palpitated so loudly, the sound of it lost to the shuffle of feet and murmured greetings. He felt like a complete idiot. He was not some bumbling fool, but Black was directly behind him, breathing down his neck, the smell of tobacco leaves and bergamot suffocating and intoxicating all at once, and when the lift doors closed and more people pressed inside, James was shoved firmly against Black.
Heat pooled in his face as he stared at the back of a witchâs coarse, silvery head, pretending he did not notice or care that he could feel Blackâs body flush with his. Around them, memos fluttered aloft, and people gazed dully at the lift doors, waiting for their turn to get out. Everything was so ordinary. This was simply another day at work. James pretended to feel the same even though Blackâs heart was thudding against his spine.
It felt like provocation even though Black said nothing at all. Hatred and excitement were welling inside of James as he felt Blackâs chest expand and release. Something about the soft, warm breath skimming the damp sweat above his collar made James tighten his fingers on the handle overhead. The body behind him was a comforting threat. It electrified him.
When at last the doors opened to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, James wriggled out between people, eager to leave the stifling lift behind. As he cleared the throng of people, he chanced a surreptitious glance at Black.
Black slid his gaze to him from beneath eyelids that seemed a heavy burden to raise as if looking upon James was an arduous chore. His clear, pale eyes swept over him with disinterest. Then the lift doors closed, and James hurried to find Moody and tell him the bad news, desperately trying to forget the brush of Blackâs breath against his neck.

no bcs i think dumbles was a trash headmaster and i would've had him stepping down from the headmaster position OR solely focusing in that bcs i feel like he was biting more than he could chew (then again the british educational system has always sucked and nobody gave a fuck about kids so can i? entirely blame him? not truly), BUT blame him for everything???? EVERYTHING???? people are sick. or too young. and need to read more.
yeah i realllg don't understand how people truly believe that Dumbledore is the root to all evil. I swear people are more mad at him for certain characters deaths more then they are at fucking Voldemort.
The thing with Dumbledore is that he's morally grey. He's not the perfect mentor that we're led to believe he is but that doesn't make him a full blown villain. He is not responsible for every bad thing that's happened in the series
and it's SO ANNOYING cause it's taking away everything that made these characters interesting. Like acting as if everyone in the Order was manipulated into joining takes away so much from them.
And as for the Death Eaters don't even get me started. Evan and Barty in particular died because of their own actions. They committed crimes, they were supposed to be arrested but they resisted and instead were killed. Dumbledore has literally no hand in that because he's not apart of the justice system and has never shown any signs of wanting to be
And as for the people who died during the Battle of Hogwarts blaming Dumbledore is just plain dumb. Dumbledore was literally already dead at this point and speaking of Remus and Tonks as if they were fully adults doing their job (as part of the Order and in Tonks case literally her job. It's her fucking job to fight bad wizards. It's what she gets paid for. She's a fucking auror) with the kids it's more McGonagalls fault if anything for letting the kids fight in the battle to begin with. But the fandom love McGonagall so they'd never admit it. Either way Dumbledore was already six feet under and played literally no part in the battle or had a say in who fought it (HE WAS LITERALLY DEAD)
Also while we're here let's talking about everyone else
James and Lily Dumbledore literally put in hiding to protect them "but he took the invisibility cloak" no. James gave him the cloak. We don't know why but considering James and Lily were in hiding and their lives were in the hands of their best friend Peter it's not hard to imagine that they deemed themselves safe enough to hand Dumbledore a cloak that wouldn't have fitted all three of them anyway
Cedric Diggory died because of three people and their names are Peter Pettigrew, Barty Crouch Jr and Voldemort. Maybe at best i'll give you that Dumbeldore wasn't looking into the odd things happening at Hogwarts (like Harry being chosen) enough but then you'll have to be prepared to blame every other teacher as well
Marlene, Dorcas, Pandora, Alice, Frank, and practically every other marauders era character had very little cannon information about their death but none of their deaths mention anything to do with Dumbledore. How tf is Dumbledore to blame for Pandora experimenting with spells???
Regulus is the same with Barty and Evan. That man went into the cave by himself because of something Kreacher told him about Voldemort. IF DUMBLEDORE KNEW THAT REGULUS WENT INTO THET CAVE AND KNEW ABOUT THE LOCKET THEN WHY THE FUCK WOULD HE TAKE THE LITERAL CHOSEN ONE WHO HAS TO BE KILLED BY VOLDEMORT INTO A DEATH CAVE TO GET A PHONY LOCKET??????????
As i've said I don't even like Dumbledore like that but this fandom is killing me with all of this frankly stupid nonsense and it's killing my braincells

Opinions on Tonks/Snape?
thank you very much for the ask, anon!
here's where i confess that i've got quite a soft spot for stonks as a ship - and not just because of that ship name - because it's a great vehicle for one of my favourite post-war questions: how the hell do you put a life together in peacetime if you never expected to have survived the final battle?
that this would apply to snape is obvious - it's pretty clear in canon that [much like harry] his experience of the entire period 1981-1998 is that he's following a script written for him by dumbledore which he believes [and, i suspect, hopes] will end in his own annihilation. while i don't think he imagines dying in the exact way he does [and while a hill i will die on is that dumbledore tried as best as he could to arrange things so that snape would survive], i think the only post-war survival scenario he envisions for himself is a lifetime rotting in azkaban, continuing to punish himself and consider himself unworthy of absolution for his role in lily's death.
but - perhaps more controversially - i also think that this can be said to apply to tonks. while i would absolutely reject the suggestion that she would have imagined herself dying because she was a bad mother, i think that several things she says in deathly hallows - above all her recognition that she's locked into a battle to the death with bellatrix - would lead to her sharing the view lupin's shade expresses to harry when he summons him with the resurrection stone: that the greatest act of love she can show her son is to die for a world in which he can live freely.
[and i also think - indeed i am convinced of it - that she also thinks it's her duty to die trying to off bellatrix because her decision to join the order means that andromeda and ted's safety in the first war - something voldemort can be plausibly said to grant at bellatrix's request on the proviso that they keep their heads down and their mouths shut - is forfeit in the second.]
the post-war tonks - a widow at twenty-five, navigating life as a single mother to a tiny baby, dealing with her own cavernous grief over the loss of her father and her mother's grief over the loss of her husband - can be written about really interestingly as someone who's unmoored within her new life and looking for something - anything - to anchor herself.
and a snape who survives nagini is a really interesting tool in all sorts of post-war ships [snarry and snack chief among them] in how he serves as a connection to a lost generation. and, in this case, he is the only person tonks will know who - no matter how negative his assessment of him - actually knew lupin well.
and it's so clear that tonks' relationship with lupin in canon was shaped by her searching for answers about him which he kept hidden behind the mask of his own self-loathing. i can absolutely see her being devastated at the knowledge that his death means that she finds herself with no chance of ever actually uncovering the reality of him, and i can see this leading her to snape's hospital bedside out of a desire to grasp at someone - anyone - who might help her fill in those gaps.
but tonks is also clearly very bolshy and very brave - two traits you need to help you survive grieving the loss of one love and still have room to chase after another.
she's also clearly very curious and very kind. and so i think she's the order member - other than harry - who would be most able to accept the fact that snape was on their side all along and to believe that he should be pardoned. i think snape would find that show of trust in him terrifying - obviously - and i think he'd go out of his way to push her away as a result. but she's got plenty of prior experience at dealing with emotionally constipated men...
and i think you can make a very credible case for the idea that snape must genuinely quite like tonks. i think it's often overlooked just how clever she must be to be admitted as an auror, and how one of the areas in which she would have been required to be clever was potions. she's also clearly one of the youngest people in the role, and her position as a junior auror who ends up doing far more for the war effort than many of her seniors mirrors snape's experience as the youngest teacher at hogwarts. i also think her shock at just how horrible to her snape is in half-blood prince when he mocks her new patronus can be read as evidence that, during the order of the phoenix timeline, she and snape had a cordial relationship. and cordial for snape is transcendentally fond for anyone else...
[plus, his disappointment in her being interested in lupin is clearly because she's someone he respects - if he didn't think she was far too good for lupin, he wouldn't have bothered saying anything.]
i genuinely think you can do something lovely with the two of them initially coming together because they view the other as a life raft in a world they don't think really belongs to them, but then something which looks a lot like dry - and stable - land coming into view as they realise they have more than that in common.
snape's terrified, obviously, but tonks is a woman who understands how to go with the flow. she'll follow love where it takes her - no matter the obstacles she finds in the way - and he's going to have no choice but to come along for the ride.

the day you were sentenced to azkaban
When I saw this fantastic piece by @longdaytogo I couldn't stop myself from writing - look at Harry's face! Draco's tension! The hands! So, here's 1.3k words of artsy, self-indulgent angst wrapped up with a hopeful ending. If you like it, thank my betas, @wecanthavenicethingx and @starlitsilvereyes for making it so much better, and being so encouraging that I was able to share it đ Read on ao3, or below!
The day you were sentenced to Azkaban, you were all alone. Your father had already been taken away to a life in prison, starting with a year of solitary confinement; and your mother had been sent back to the Manor to begin her house arrest. You were on your own, stoic and pale and thin and drawn in the chair in the center of the room, darting glances around the court and staring at the floor in turn. You flinched when the Wizengamot announced your fate; five months in Azkaban, a strict parole after that. You were silent, just bowed your head and trembled, but the Wizangemot chastened you anyway, reminding you of your crimes, and outlining exactly how severe your punishment would have been if you had been a year older when you took the Mark, one of them shuffling their papers and mockingly wishing you a happy birthday a day in advance; you didnât say anything, so I did, standing up because I couldnât stay seated anymore and trying to protest, so tired of all the hate and vitriol that hadnât stopped even after everything.
Hermione stopped me, of course. She pulled me back down onto the bench and she and Ron kept me there until the Wizengamot had all but filed out, trying, Iâm sure, to keep me from making any more headlines or forcing the court to give me an official censure. But once the worst of them had left the room, and only a few plum-coloured hats could be seen at the door, I broke free, and reached you before the Aurors coming from the edges of the room did. You were still standing from when you were required to out of decorum for the magistrates, and your hair had fallen across your face, so I couldnât see the look on your face, but I could still imagine it. Iâd seen it on enough other faces during the previous few years, and by that point, I knew exactly what despair and fear and panicked isolation looked like.
We had both been children, caught up in a war from the first year of our lives, and I felt that youth more in that moment than any before. I was so young and powerless, you looked so small and fragile, and I wanted to cry for how tired I was from being angry all the time for all the problems that hadnât yet been resolved. I donât even know what I thought I was going to do, why I was approaching you in the first place - you were just all alone, standing there, and looking at you in that moment felt like looking into a mirror, because that was how I felt too, even surrounded by so many people. Everyone else seemed to have their name intertwined with someone elseâs; Ron-and-Hermione, Molly-and-Arthur, Bill-and-Fleur. Ginny and I had never really been Harry-and-Ginny, we hadnât been given the time to forge that link properly, and it fizzled out before we could solidify it; when she moved on to be Ginny-and-Neville, I was left alone as just Harry. And in that moment, when I saw you standing by yourself in the middle of the room, you were just Draco, just like me.
I didnât go up to you because I wanted to become Harry-and-Draco (although I am so glad to be linked with you now, our names connected on every legal document and letter we sign), I just walked over to you because you were all alone and I was too, and it made sense in that moment that we should be all alone together.
I think I started trying to apologize, for not doing more to help you, for how the Wizengamot treated you, for my part in our petty, schoolboy rivalry; I think I started to tell you that it would be okay, that it would only be a few months, and the dementors were gone now and so it wouldnât be fun, but you would be alright, but I donât think I got any of those words out of my mouth.
You shook your head, a small no, and the sight of the tears pooling in your eyes silenced me before I could begin. You were so absolute, so determined to be proper even after everything, and you told me⊠you told me no. You said, âThank you, Potter, but youâve done more than anyone could have asked of you already.â Your lower lip trembled a bit on the last word, despite your best efforts, and I couldnât stop myself from acting once more, despite my best efforts (although I didnât really try my best to stop myself).
I hugged you, and you trembled like a leaf, frozen other than the little tremors that wracked your whole body. You kept your arms stiff at your sides, and I could feel you tightening your chin where it pressed into my shoulder, determined not to let your tears or defenses fall.
It took a few moments, but then you inhaled, deep and shuddery, and you grabbed onto me like we were still fleeing the Fiendfyre, and I held you back, just as tight. I saw the Aurors start moving in again, coming to take you away, and I pulled you even closer, watched them falter with uncertainty as I held you and let you cry out your tears and put yourself together again.
I didnât cry, but I did a good deal of self-repair for myself while we stood there. You were holding me like Iâd never been held before, like you needed me, like you wanted me to be there, like you cared about me and wanted to give as much comfort as you were getting. I thought, at the time, that might have been wishful thinking on my behalf, just more of my loneliness striking out at an empty void, but I was so glad to hear you tell me, later, whispering under cool linen sheets on a hot summer night that you felt the same way then. I just wanted to comfort you, and be comforted myself, in a way I hadnât previously known.
A few moments more, and I started to think too much. I could see the Aurors moving again, and their motion in the corner of my eye made all my thoughts come back, moving too fast and looming too big to focus on them. I didnât want to let you go, and yet I was going to have to, I would have no choice in what happened yet again. I wanted to keep giving you comfort, I wanted to let you take everything you needed, while you held me right back, and that was warm and safe and terrifying, because you were Draco Malfoy and I was Harry Potter, and I didnât know what that meant anymore.
(I know what it means now. But we werenât Draco-and-Harry then. There were still two more years ahead of us before we got the first letter addressed to Mr. Potter and Mr. Malfoy, together, and it was another ten months after Lunaâs baby shower that we even talked about making that link permanent. It took us five years from that first hug in the Ministry for us to return there to sign our names on the license that made us legally Draco-and-Harry Malfoy-Potter.)
I held you, and I held you, and I held you. I didnât figure anything out then, and I donât think I fixed any problems in those too-short seconds either, but I felt better, even as we clung to each other tighter still in the moments when the Aurors reached us and started to gently pull us apart.
The day you were sentenced to Azkaban, I watched you walk away between crimson-robed Aurors, and I started counting down to December, when I could see you again, and when things might start to feel alright.
