Chapter 3: To Resist Those Eyes
Word count: 1,972
“Potions are going to be a lot harder this year than last year, my dear students.” Professor Slughorn, Hogwarts’ current potions master stood in front of the room, informing the whole class.
“And I really would like to avoid any accidents or any other unpleasant circumstances to arise.” He continued. “That is why starting from today, you’ll be grouped into two and this partnership will last until the end of the year.”
The room erupted into quiet murmurs, some happy with the fact that in case they’d get in trouble, their partner gets in trouble with them. Or maybe, they were happy with the thought of partnering themselves with someone smart and freeload their way into potions class. Some groaned, including Severus who was not really fond of the idea.
On second thought, maybe it wouldn’t be so bad at all. That is, if the professor chooses who's going to be partnered up with who. Because if that was the case, Severus wouldn’t have a problem finding anybody to partner up with. Not that he cared, though. In case that the total number of the people taking this class was odd, he’d be happy to work alone. He was better off alone anyways.
“Fortunately for everybody, you get to pick your own partner.” Severus let out another quiet groan at the statement. “So quickly, children. Pick your partner and table!” The professor urged, eyes observing the class as students diverged and converged.
After a lot of thinking in a short period of time, Severus decided to just stay in the table he currently is using. There’s no point in finding anybody. Someone will come, eventually. You just got to wait for it.
Truthfully, the quiet boy didn’t really expect anybody. But he really really didn’t expect it to be “Valentine?” he quietly mused, confused as to why the girl people branded as the Slytherin Sweetheart took a seat beside him when she could’ve picked someone else. Severus wondered why the girl didn’t partner with her own friends. The blonde twins? The boy on the quidditch team? The girl who owned a bird? Or maybe even someone else! Someone else but him.
The girl turned to face Severus, looking at him directly, eye to eye as she softly greeted “Hello, Severus.”
The boy didn’t know what was written behind the girl’s eyes but never in his life did he feel so drawn to somebody else’s eyes. Aside from Lily’s bright one, of course.
“Why are you here?” He shyly asked, trying the best as he could to not make his tone seem rude and ungrateful.
Y/N Valentine sent him a small smile, showing off her pearly whites. “Because I’m going to be your partner for potions starting today?” She carefully suggested as if it wasn't obvious as to why she was seated beside him.
Severus’ curiosity got the best of him. He didn’t mean to ask another question but he couldn’t help it. He just had to know why she would pick him when nobody ever does. “Why me?”
The girl gave him a small shrug before turning her attention back to the potions professor, who was starting to explain the specific qualities of the potion that they were going to brew today. “Because you’re my friend and you’re the best in potions.”
_______________
Y/N Valentine’s bold move resulted in a couple of uncertain glances and visible confusion from the girl’s friends. I mean, it really wasn’t a big deal. Valentine and Snape were housemates after all.
Also, it wasn’t like the students of the Slytherin house cared about whoever got partnered up with the girl. It’s not like Y/N Valentine was popular. Sure, she’s what they call the Slytherin Sweetheart but she’s not a Greengrass or a Black or a Lestrange. She was a pureblood but she wasn’t Slytherin royalty like them. In fact, that's the reason why she got her nickname - She was not like them. Well, aside from her last name. A lot really liked her last name.
However, it just happens for Y/N’s friends to have the same prejudice as that one specific group of Gryffindors against Severus Snape. Most people in Slytherin thought the boy was smart and mysterious but that’s it. There really wasn’t anything special about Severus Snape.
“What’s going on with you and Severus Snape?” The girl’s friend, the boy who happened to be one of Slytherin’s chasers in the quidditch team, interrogated her. His hands on his hips as if he was a father scolding his child.
Valentine lifted her chin to face the tall boy, her features displaying an innocent look. “Nothing. We’re just friends.” she expressed nonchalantly.
“Woah.” One of the blonde twins let out. “Never have I thought that Severus Snape was actually capable of having friends.” Commented the other twin.
Y/N furrowed her brows, arms crossing against her chest. “Don’t be so mean.” She scolded. “He’s actually nice if you get to know him more.”
_______________
The two Slytherins found themselves at their usual spot in the library. It became their ritual. Whoever would have their class finish earlier would go straight to their usual table at the far end corner. But one wouldn’t start on their homework unless the other arrives. They’d occupy themselves with a book.
Both had homework laid in front of them but the female was distracted. Her attention was solely focused on the boy in front of her. The boy who knew what she was doing but ignored it, the boy who had his mind occupied with forming cohesive and comprehensive sentences for the essay their potions professor assigned them, occasionally dipping his quill on his ink bottle. Snape knew that Valentine was staring at him. The reason, that he doesn't know. But he chose to ignore it, deciding that the parchment in front of him was more important. But after feeling a little self conscious, he hid his face with his long hair.
“Aren’t you bothered?” The girl asked.
Severus didn’t exactly know what she meant but he assumed it was her staring. “I am now, since you asked a question.” He answered, his eyes not leaving his parchment.
Y/N shook her head, chuckling at the vague answer. “No, I mean...your hair. It covers your face a lot. Doesn’t it bother you? Does it not hinder your line of sight?”
The boy shook his head “No.”
Silence enveloped the space the two Slytherins were in. The girl continued to stare at the boy in front of her, watching his every move with curious eyes. Severus continued to ignore her, he is halfway finished with his homework after all. It’s not his problem if Y/N Valentine wasted so much time staring at him when she could have been at the same pace as him in the assignment. But the girl finally caught the boy’s attention when the sound of paper being detached was heard.
Y/N ripped a piece of parchment on her roll, taking out her wand to transfigure the piece into a little black hair tie.
Severus thought the tie was for herself. He noticed how the girl always had her hair tied up whenever she needed to focus. But he also noticed the usual ribbon the girl used wrapped around her hand.
Y/N stood from her seat, making her way behind Severus, using her fingers to comb the boy’s raven hair.
“What are you doing?” Severus asked, surprised.
“Stay still, Sev. You’ll see.” She answered. With her left hand, Y/N gathered the boy’s hair, using the tie on her right hand to put them in place.
She retrieved her seat, eyeing the work she did on Severus. “Isn’t that better?” She suggested, finally opening her bottled ink and grabbing a hold of her quill to start on her assignment.
Thankfully, Severus didn’t react Y/N expected him to, Truthfully, she thought that he’d call her off, scolding her for touching his hair, and put his hair back the way it used to. But he didn’t. He only offered her a small smile.
Valentine finally got a better look at Severus' features. The boy had a big pointed nose, high cheekbones, and a sharp jawline. He had eyes similar to a black hole; dark and has the tendency to pull you in. Y/N wanted to get lost in them and see the emotions inside. If only she didn’t feel the pull inside her mind and the shield the boy was holding.
It seems like Severus was skilled at legilimency and occlumency. The girl was amused.
“I get it now.” The boy mumbled, shaking his head before turning his attention back to the essay he was writing.
“What?” She asked, confused.
“You're skilled at legilimens and occlumens. That’s why I never get to read what’s on your mind.”
Y/N shrugged. “Just like you, Sev.”
_______________
“Why are we here again?” Severus reluctantly asked, grabbing ahold of his black coat to tuck himself further away from the cold.
The two Slytherins found themselves outside the castle, in Hogsmeade as thick snow fell towards them. The boy had no intention of going out at all. If it weren’t for the personal charms the Slytherin sweetheart possessed, he would have been able to say no. But he just couldn’t resist her bright eyes and curled up lips. Severus just wouldn’t know what to do if he was the reason the light on her eyes turned off or the reason those lips turned into a frown.
“Every Saturday, they bring out limited edition chocolate frogs! They have all sorts of flavors like dark chocolate, white chocolate, caramel, hazelnut, almond, and strawberry chocolate! It’s hard to get my hands on it alone so I figured that you could help me.”
“How were you able to get it before then?”
The girl shrugged. “Pure luck.” She boasted, taking a peek at the shop’s window to know how many frogs were displayed to calculate how she would strategize to get her hands on every flavor there is.
Severus was amused at the girl’s antics, a small smile displayed on his features. Well, if you’d consider it a smile. His lips were kinda a little curled up anyways.
“I don’t believe you.” He declared.
Y/N rolled her eyes. “You shouldn’t have asked if you weren’t going to believe me.”
The two spent most of their day going through different shops around Hogsmeade. Y/N successfully got her hands on all of the sweets she was craving, all thanks to Severus secretly hexing the other students who were on their way to grab the frogs.
Evening came, the two were now seated at the Great hall for supper. Just a few moments ago, the headmaster finished his evening speech, clapping twice to fill each houses’ table with good food.
Owls came in after. Dropping packages and letters to the hands of the rightful receiver.
A medium-sized box dropped in Y/N’s hand, a tag with a messily written ‘to sweet Valentine’ tied around it. Severus noticed the familiar logo of the sweet shop.
“So that’s how.” The boy mumbled. “You get gifts from your secret admirers.”
The girl chucked, shrugging. “What can I say? I’m irresistible.”
“You have lots of chocolate frogs now.” Severus commented. “I hope you don’t eat all of them in one sitting. You’re gonna get cavities.”
“Yeah, and my throat will ache!” She quipped, her lips curled into a wide grin, showcasing her pearly whites.
“That’s why I’m gonna share it with you. Meet me at the astronomy tower later?” The girl proposed, eyes hopeful.
Y/N Valentine was giving the same look she gave Severus earlier at breakfast when she forced him to go to Hogsmeade with her. How can Severus ever resist those eyes?

warnings: swearing, death, snake attack, voldemort
I paced the boathouse, waiting for Severus to arrive. Voldemort had sent word to him and left me as bait. I turned as Severus entered.
“professor?” Severus asked as he saw me, a small twitch in his fingers as he scanned the room. Voldemort emerged from the shadows and smiled at the two of us. “My lord.” He bowed his head as Voldemort came to stand in front of him.
“Severus. Thank you for joining us.” Voldemort said. “There have been some…revelations of late. One that involves our lovely charms professor here.” Severus gulped as he looked between us. “I do believe you dared to defy me, saying you’d run away to join the muggles if it meant I wouldn’t find you.” Severus didn’t move, not emotion on his face at all. I bit the inside of my cheek hard to keep my face blank. Severus glanced at me and I noted the glimmer of fear in his eyes.
“my lord…” Severus started but stopped when Voldemort held up a hand, circling him.
“I must say Severus. I never expected you to choose a pure blood. Given your status and the unfortunate choice of a bitch you originally made.” I felt the shiver go up my spine at the mention of lily. “How much do you love our little professor? Hmmm? Enough to die for them?” Severus went pale, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he glanced at me.
“Die my lord?” He asked. “I…what…are you…” I stepped forward and stood in front of Severus. His hand came out to grab my arm, push me out of the way should anything happen but I grabbed his other arm and squeezed.
“you can’t kill him!” I cried. Voldemort looked at the two of us. He laughed darkly.
“I can’t can I?” He asked. “You little bitch, I think you forget your place. Unless you want to die alongside him.” I stood to my full height and stared down the most dangerous man in all of the wizarding world.
“better to die together than live with the pain of losing a loved one.” I shot back. Severus tightened his grip, still intent on pushing me out of the way. ‘Bastard thinks he killed Harry right?’ I thought. The brief squeeze of my arm confirmed it. I took a deep breath as Voldemort raised his arm.
“then you shall die alongside him.” Voldemort warned me. I stood defiantly in front of Severus as we watched nagini come closer. I counted down in my head, pulling Severus into apparition at the last possible second. I pulled him down just outside the boathouse as Voldemort roared with anger. Nagini was hanging off his arm, body falling at the wave of energy Voldemort gave off as the horcrux in the snake died. Voldemort stumbled against the wall as the venom coursed through his body, no horcuxes left to bring him back. I breathed out and leaned my head against Severus’ chest as a tear escaped my eye.
“How did you know that would work?” He breathed out, arms wrapping around me tightly. “How did you…”
“I didn’t.” I said, looking up at him with tear filled eyes. “I just wanted this to end.” Severus cupped my cheeks and kissed me deeply.
“you brilliant idiot.” He whispered, leaning his head against mine. “You absolute brilliant nut case. I love you. So so much.” I giggled and wrapped my hands around his wrists.
“I love you too.” I breathed out before kissing him again. He hugged me to him before rising. “Is he…”
“he should be.” Severus nodded, slowly making his way into the boathouse. He kept a tight hold on my hand as I trailed behind him. “Free. Finally free.” Severus breathed out, tears of his own rolling down his cheeks. “We’re free.”
“oh Severus.” I cried as I covered my mouth. Severus swept me up, spinning me around before kissing me again.
“let’s go. Let Harry find him.” Severus breathed out. “I have a mind to apologize to Minerva and then disappear to spinners end until this all blows over.” Severus looked at me with shining eyes. “If you’ll have me.”
“I’ll always have you Severus.” I confirmed before following him back up to the castle.

___
Severus Snape was a man who kept his life meticulously ordered—every detail tightly controlled, every secret well-guarded. His flat in Spinner’s End reflected that precision: shelves lined with books on obscure topics, an assortment of jars containing rare herbs and powders, and not a single item out of place. For years, his life had been predictable, secluded, and exactly as he preferred it.
Until Y/N.
She had appeared one rainy autumn afternoon, moving into the house near his with a clatter of boxes and the faint sound of her laughter through the place. He’d paid her no mind at first, assuming she was just another ordinary muggle passing through the neighborhood. But Y/N had a way of quietly insinuating herself into his life, her warmth and curiosity chipping away at the walls he had spent years constructing.
It started with small conversations, then turned into shared cups of tea on dreary afternoons. Severus found himself drawn to her despite his better judgment, captivated by her wit and her ability to see through his sharp exterior without fear. Before long, her presence became a comfort he didn’t know he needed.
But Severus Snape was no ordinary man, and secrets like his had a way of complicating even the simplest of relationships.
The first time Severus noticed something unusual about Y/N, it was during one of their many tea sessions. She had been recounting a frustrating encounter with a nosy coworker, her voice tinged with exasperation, when the sugar bowl on the table suddenly slid toward her without anyone touching it.
Severus froze, his sharp black eyes narrowing as he watched the bowl settle.
Y/N, however, seemed entirely unaware. She simply reached for the sugar and continued talking as if nothing had happened.
The incident lingered in Severus’s mind for days. It wasn’t an isolated occurrence. As their relationship deepened, he began to notice more of these oddities.
One evening, while she was cooking dinner, she muttered under her breath about needing a spoon. A drawer across the room creaked open, and a wooden spoon floated out, landing neatly on the counter. She had stared at it in confusion for a moment before shaking her head and muttering something about exhaustion.
Then there was the time they had gotten into a mild argument. The moment her voice rose, the lights flickered ominously, and a glass on the counter shattered. Y/N had apologized profusely, blaming her clumsiness, but Severus couldn’t ignore the growing evidence.
She was no ordinary muggle.
He debated telling her for weeks, but every time he tried, the words caught in his throat. How could he explain magic to someone who had lived her entire life unaware of its existence? More importantly, how could he tell her that she might possess magic of her own?
As he hesitated, Y/N’s curiosity began to grow. She wasn’t blind to his odd behaviors—the way he seemed to know things he shouldn’t, the strange ingredients she occasionally glimpsed in his kitchen, or the books with titles written in languages she couldn’t understand.
It all came to a head one fateful evening.
Severus had been in his study, absorbed in a particularly complex potion, when Y/N’s voice broke through his concentration.
“Severus, can I ask you something?”
He looked up, his expression unreadable. “What is it?”
She stepped into the room, holding a thick, leather-bound book in her hands. His heart sank as he recognized it immediately.
“Where did you get that?” he asked sharply.
“It was on the shelf,” she replied, her brow furrowed. “I was looking for something to read, and this caught my eye. But… Severus, what is this? It’s not just a book, is it?”
He rose from his chair, his movements slow and deliberate. “Y/N,” he began, his voice measured, “that is not something you should have been reading.”
“Why not?” she pressed. “It’s not like I can understand half of it. But the parts I do understand…” She flipped the book open, pointing to a page filled with detailed instructions for a potion. “This talks about powdered unicorn horn and asphodel. These aren’t… normal things, are they?”
Severus stared at her, his mind racing. There was no more hiding it.
“No,” he said finally. “They are not.”
She waited, her expression a mixture of confusion and determination. “Then explain it to me. Please.”
And so he did.
Severus spent the next hour explaining everything—the wizarding world, Hogwarts, and his own role as a potions master. He spoke of magic and its many forms, carefully observing her reaction as he revealed the truth he had kept hidden for so long.
Y/N listened in stunned silence, her hands clasped tightly in her lap. When he finished, she exhaled a shaky breath.
“So… you’re a wizard,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
“Yes,” he confirmed.
“And you’ve been hiding this from me the entire time we’ve known each other?”
“I was protecting you,” he said, his tone defensive. “The less you knew, the safer you were.”
She frowned, her gaze piercing. “Safe from what?”
“From the dangers of my world,” he replied. “Magic is not always a gift. It can be a burden—a dangerous one.”
Y/N shook her head, her expression softening. “Severus, I understand why you wanted to protect me. But don’t you think I deserve to know the truth? Especially if…” She hesitated, her voice faltering.
“If what?” he prompted.
“If I’m part of it too,” she said quietly.
Severus’s eyes narrowed. “What are you saying?”
She looked down at her hands, twisting them nervously. “I’ve always had… strange things happen around me. Things I couldn’t explain. I thought I was just unlucky or clumsy, but… after what you’ve told me, I don’t know anymore.”
He studied her carefully, his mind racing. He had suspected as much, but hearing her say it aloud confirmed what he had been reluctant to admit.
“Y/N,” he said slowly, “it is possible that you are not a muggle.”
Her eyes widened. “What does that mean?”
“It means,” he continued, “that you may be a witch.”
___
The morning light filtered softly through the windows of Severus’s flat, illuminating the scattered remnants of the night before: a few spell books left open on the table, a candle burned low in its holder, and a single white feather resting in the middle of the room. Y/N sat cross-legged on the floor, her brow furrowed in concentration as she waved a borrowed wand at the feather.
“Wingardium Leviosa,” she muttered, her tone deliberate.
The feather trembled slightly but refused to lift. Instead, it skidded a few inches across the wooden floor.
“Again,” Severus instructed from his chair, his tone calm but firm.
Y/N sighed, gripping the wand tighter. “I’ve said it at least twenty times. Why isn’t it working?”
“Because,” he replied, “you’re trying to force it. Magic requires control, yes, but also intention. You cannot simply will it into being. You must feel it, allow it to flow.”
She groaned, letting her head drop forward in frustration. “This is harder than it looks.”
Severus set down the book he’d been thumbing through and moved to sit beside her on the floor. His presence was steadying, his dark eyes watching her with an intensity that made her heart race.
“Y/N,” he said softly, his voice losing some of its usual edge, “no one masters magic overnight. Even the most talented witches and wizards stumble when they first begin.”
“But I can’t even levitate a feather,” she muttered, her tone tinged with disappointment.
“Progress is not measured by perfection,” he said, reaching out to gently tilt her chin so she was looking at him. “Every spell, no matter how small, is a step forward.”
She gave him a small, tentative smile, and he allowed himself a rare moment of softness, brushing a strand of hair from her face.
“Come,” he said, standing and offering her his hand. “Let’s try again.”
For the next hour, Y/N practiced under Severus’s watchful eye. Each attempt was met with either a subtle correction or a murmured word of encouragement. When she managed to lift the feather a few inches off the ground, she let out a triumphant laugh, her excitement lighting up the room.
“I did it!” she exclaimed, turning to Severus.
He allowed himself a small, approving smile. “Indeed, you did.”
Unable to contain her excitement, she threw her arms around him, nearly knocking him off balance. He stiffened for a moment before relaxing, his hands resting awkwardly on her back.
“You’re a surprisingly affectionate student,” he remarked dryly, though the faintest hint of amusement flickered in his eyes.
“And you’re a surprisingly patient teacher,” she shot back, grinning.
He shook his head, muttering something about “foolishness,” but the corners of his mouth betrayed him, curving ever so slightly upward.
As the days turned into weeks, their lessons became a regular routine. Severus taught her simple spells first—lumos to light her wand, accio to summon objects, and even reparo to fix the various things she accidentally broke during her practice.
But not every lesson was smooth.
One rainy afternoon, Y/N was attempting to cast a cleaning charm on a spill she’d made. Instead of vanishing, the liquid exploded outward, splattering both her and Severus with tea.
She gasped, horrified. “Oh no! I’m so sorry, Severus!”
He stood there, dripping tea, his expression unreadable. For a moment, she thought he might be angry, but then he let out a deep sigh and flicked his wand, vanishing the mess in an instant.
“Perhaps,” he said, his tone dry, “we’ll revisit cleaning charms another day.”
Y/N couldn’t help but laugh, and to her surprise, Severus’s lips twitched in response.
Despite her occasional missteps, Y/N’s progress was undeniable. With each successful spell, her confidence grew, and Severus found himself strangely proud of her determination.
One evening, as they practiced in the dim light of his study, Y/N managed to conjure a small stream of water from her wand. She let out a delighted laugh, her eyes sparkling as she turned to him.
“Did you see that?” she asked, beaming.
“I saw,” he replied, his voice quiet.
Her joy was infectious, and before she could stop herself, she leaned in and kissed him. It was a fleeting kiss, soft and full of gratitude, but it lingered between them like an unspoken promise.
When she pulled back, she looked at him nervously. “Was that okay?”
Severus’s dark eyes searched hers, and for a moment, she thought he might retreat behind his usual stoicism. But then he reached out, his hand cupping her cheek as he kissed her back—slowly, deliberately, as though he were committing the moment to memory.
When they finally parted, he rested his forehead against hers, his voice barely above a whisper. “You’re remarkable, Y/N.”
Her heart swelled, and she smiled, brushing a strand of dark hair from his face. “So are you, Severus.”
The weeks passed in a blur of lessons, laughter, and quiet moments shared between spells. Y/N still struggled at times—her wand sometimes sparked unpredictably, and her frustration would boil over when a spell refused to cooperate. But Severus was always there, steady and patient, guiding her with a firm but gentle hand.
One evening, as they sat together by the fire, Y/N leaned against him, her head resting on his shoulder.
“Do you think I’ll ever be good at this?” she asked softly.
Severus placed a hand over hers, his touch warm and reassuring. “You already are.”
She looked up at him, her eyes searching his. “You really believe that?”
“I do,” he said simply.
Y/N smiled, her doubts melting away under his steady gaze. For all his gruffness and guarded nature, Severus had a way of making her feel seen—truly seen.
And as she drifted off to sleep in his arms, she realized that magic, for all its wonder and mystery, was nothing compared to the love they had found in each other.

It felt so wrong, but so right at the same time. How he pushed you against the forgotten closet door, gripping your chin between his gloved hand. Your chest moves up and down as he glares down at you. “Mr Malfoy!” You gasp out, your heart beating like crazy.
Lucius grips your chin tighter, tilting your head upwards. “Shh, little one. You don’t want anyone to catch us, now do you?” You quickly shake your head, a soft gasp escaping past your lips as he places his slack covered knee between your thighs. “What a good little girl you are. Shall I say ten points to Slytherin?” His voice raspy as he whispers.
He smirks as he watches you grind down on his knee. Your eyes roll to the back of your head, this was possibly the most reckless yet thrilling thing you’ve ever done. You would’ve never expected to be screwing around with your friend’s dad, especially a married man.
Your eyes focus on him as he squeezes your chin. “Pay attention, little one.” Lucius unsheathes his wand from his cane and places it against your throat, pressing it in. He watches as excitement fills your eyes. “Are you going to be our good girl?”
Your brows furrow, confused. “Our? But, Mr Malfoy there is only… What?” You stumble on your words, his knee pressing into your clit causing your mind to become fuzzy.
Severus steps into the light, having been watching from the shadows. “You are correct, Miss L/n. Our girl.” You clench around nothing, watching as he stalks closer until their scent fills your mind.
Your fantasy was finally coming true.

Yan!Severus Snape vs Yan!Sirius Black w/Slytherin!Reader (platonic/romantic)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Based off this concept)
Part 1: Severus Snape
There wasn’t a single soul that Severus truly cared for other than Lily and he couldn’t fathom anyone even coming close to her in his mind. But he had a change of heart when you came into his life.
In the beginning you had just been another face in the crowd at Hogwarts, but you were in the same house as him, he knew that much. Other than that he didn’t give you much mind, he was too caught up with Lily after all. It hadn’t been till after his fallout with her that he genuinely remembers any interaction with you. It had been during one of the many times James and his idiotic friends had seeked him out and made a fool out of him that he remembers truly noticing you.
You had come to his defense, or rather his rescue really but he’d never admit it even to this day. You threw a few jinxes their way and had them running for the hills, he couldn’t remember ever laughing as much as he had when remembering that moment, if ever. Not only did you humiliate them like they had done to him countless times but the things you said about them after they ran off were just too good to forget.
Of course he had waited until he was all alone before allowing himself a fit of laughter and a small half smile at the events that he’d witnessed. You didn’t look like much, he’d be honest, but you really gave James and Sirius especially a good jinxing. Since that day, Severus had made much more of an effort to pay attention to you.
After everything, you hadn’t mentioned anything from that day. You hadn’t even really interacted with Severus again. He was grateful of that but a small part of him wished or rather hoped that you would have talked to him, even just a measly ‘hello’. But it was for the best, at least that’s what he told himself at first.
Eventually, Severus had started unconsciously scouring the common room for you, it if wasn’t the common room then it was the sea of students making their ways through the halls. It went on a while before he actually caught himself doing it. By the time he had, Severus had already taken to walking closer to you when going to classes or even sitting nearer to you in the dining hall. He never strayed too close for comfort or for you to notice but close enough for him. The more he did it and the longer he got away with it, the bolder he got. Soon enough it became routine following you around, whether it was the library or quidditch practice, Severus was always around wherever you were. It was pretty easy given being part of the same house. It would have been even easier if you two were in the same dorm as well but he didn’t mind just waiting for you in the common room.
He’s completely thrown for a loop when one day you confront him about his behavior. He was under the impression that he had been very subtle in his endeavors, that was his mistake. You deserved much more credit then he first thought, you were a fellow snake after all. Severus did have every intention of talking to you eventually but he wanted to get a feel for who you were before he did invest himself fully into being more than mere housemates or even acquaintances. He wanted to know what you were all about, what he would be getting himself into before taking the plunge. That was reasonable, wasn’t it? He can’t really put his finger on the exact reason why he was acting the way he was. He had only recently caught himself doing it at all but he supposed there had to have been an answer, he just didn’t know what it was yet.
Honestly, Severus would be completely taken aback once he’s realized what he’s been doing all this time, finally settling in exactly how long he’s been sticking just a little too close to you. Why was he acting like this? This certainly wasn’t the norm for him, at least not regarding someone who wasn’t Lily. Was that it? Was he just using you as a replacement for Lily? Or was it something more than that? Did he genuinely want a, dare he say, friendship with you? Was he really willing to open himself up to someone else like that? Well, it had to be something like that otherwise why would he bother doing everything that he was. Even if it was ‘unconsciously’.
From then, Severus and you had become more openly acquainted with one another. He wasn’t quite ready to call you a friend yet, hell he probably never would, at least not vocally and out in the open. But in his mind that’s exactly what you were. You were his friend, a real friend. You weren’t like the other Slytherins, your interactions weren’t based off appearances, status, or anything of that sort. It was easy for him to be around you, unlike everyone else. He didn’t have to pretend or put in any unnecessary effort, something he was quite appreciative of. You didn’t ask anything of him, you didn’t expect anything of him and it was nice.
He wasn’t exactly the talkative type early on and even later he still wasn’t but he talked more in your company than he ever did with anyone else and that was definitely saying something. Even with Lily. And he could speak about whatever when he was with you, even if you didn’t necessarily agree with him, but you didn’t have to and that’s one of the biggest things he found himself enjoying in your friendship acquaintanceship. Neither of you had to agree with the other to be friends, you didn’t have to exactly be on the same page to still be around one another.
After getting to be around you more openly, Severus had truly grown accustomed to it. It became more of a discomfort and oddity for him not to be near your side on the rare occasions he wasn’t. And he despised it. It made him feel vulnerable and left out in the open. But he could tolerate it, for a time. But the second he was able to reclaim his place near you again he was back to feeling content. It hadn’t really been made apparent to him just how much he detested other people around you; talking to you, having your attention on them. Even if they were merely standing or sitting near you without so much as taking up any of your time or energy. He didn’t know why, he didn’t even really know how long that had become an issue in the first place but it very much so was and now he was well aware of it.
Severus especially had a hard time when it came to students from other houses taking up your time and attention. He could be tolerable towards his fellow Slytherins (to an extent) but when it came to anyone, especially the Gryffindors, something deep inside him would make itself known. Particularly regarding a certain few, especially a certain pureblood mutt.
Severus couldn’t believe how long it had taken him to pick up on it but it was right there in front of him. It seemed as though that fateful day you had defended him and garnered his attention, you also piqued the attention of someone else. Someone much more annoying and infuriatingly stubborn.

You were a Professor at Hogwarts, newly graduated yourself and ready to teach the students all you had learnt at your time at the school for young witches and wizards. You were helping Pomona Sprout clean up the Herbology Greenhouses one day after a particularly messy class of first years when you stumbled across a vial of something you had never come across before. You turned to Pomona and looked at her quizzically, “what’s this?” you asked.
Pomona looked as confused as you were as you held the vial up to the light pouring through the Greenhouse windows. “I’m… not quite sure,” she replied. “Be a dear and take it to Severus, see if he knows what it is?”
You nodded, gulping slightly. You see, you had developed a sort of ‘crush’ on your old potions Professor and that felt strange to you, especially since you were now his colleague. “I’ll be right back,” you announced before turning around on your heel and slowly walking to the dungeons where you knew Severus would be. On your way, you took several deep breaths trying your hardest to collect your thoughts and keep your feelings in check.
Eventually, you arrived at the dungeons. Standing outside the potions classroom, you took your final deep breath before knocking on the door. As soon as you knocked, you wanted to run away, but you grasped the vial in your hand tightly and remained still. “Enter,” came his gruff voice from behind the door. You expected to see a classroom full of children, but instead you were greeted with just Severus, sitting down behind his desk. He looked up at you and nodded in acknowledgement as you entered before looking down at the parchment on his desk. Slowly, you made your way into the dimly lit room taking in the faint aroma of potions that had been brewed recently. When you reached the desk, you shakily placed the vial of unknown contents in front of Severus and smiled down at him awkwardly.
“Pomona and I don’t know what this is,” you said, voice wavering slightly. “We were hoping you’d be able to enlighten us.”
Severus looked at the bottle before picking it up to inspect it closer. He looked puzzled as his eyes scrunched to look closer at the contents of the liquid. It was clear in colour and could have been a number of things. Severus placed the bottle on the edge of the desk and simply shrugged. “Could be a few things,” he drawled.
You nodded, taking in his words. “Could you find out what it is?” You asked, tilting your head to the side.
“Of course I could find out what it is,” Severus said, his tone hinting offence. “But it will take some time.”
“I have time,” you replied with a shrug, looking down at the potions Professor. Your heart picked up its pace as Severus looked you up and down before turning his attention away from the parchment and back to the mysterious vial on his desk. He pushed his chair away from the desk and stood up, towering over you. Your breath hitched in your throat lightly as he brushed past you and made his way over to the cauldron in the middle of the room, mysterious vial in his hand. As he opened up the vial, ready to pour some of the clear liquid into the cauldron, a cloud of what appeared to be pollen sprung up from the contents hitting Severus square in the face. He quickly closed his eyes as the pollen hit him in the face before they widened when he realised what it was. “What is that?” You asked, disgust lacing your voice as Severus quickly placed the lid back on the vial.
“Sex pollen,” Severus replied, eyes still wide.
“I’m sorry, what?” You asked with a slight stutter.
“Sex pollen,” he repeated, gritting his teeth. He turned to put the vial on a shelf before turning back to grip the cauldron with his hands, knuckles turning white with the amount of pressure he was gripping with.
“Severus, are you okay?” You asked, slightly concerned.
“You need to leave,” he snapped to you, eyes still closed as he grasped the cauldron harder.
“I’m not leaving until I know you’re okay,” you said stubbornly, folding your arms across your chest.
“I’m fine,” he snapped again, a slight moan tumbling from his lips as he spoke.
“You’re clearly not fine,” you said.
You walked over to Severus and placed your hand on his shoulder, turning him around to face you. When he turned, his eyes opened and you saw his pupils had dilated a crazy amount, his orbs holding an emotion you had never seen from your old potions Professor before. Lust. You looked him up and down, noticing the slight twitching in his body as he moved.
“Leave!” He yelled at you, pointing towards the closed classroom door with a long, slender finger.
“No,” you replied. “I have to help you… Somehow,” you muttered to yourself.
“There’s no helping the situation right now,” Severus groaned, his eyes rolling into the back of his head slightly as he spoke. “The effects will pass in a few hours and everything will be fine. Just go back to Pomona and tell her that I will be keeping the vial for further inspection.”
“But you already know what it is-” You started.
“And I cannot allow you to return back to the Greenhouses with it,” he snapped. His voice was strained, a hint of desperation evident.
“I’m not leaving you right now,” you said. “I have to help you, maybe there’s some kind of potion I can create to counter the effects…”
Severus shook his head. “There’s only one known cure for this pollen.”
“Great! I can make it and you’ll be fine,” you said, a smile gracing your lips. Your eyes held a spark of determination as you spoke.
“It’s a natural remedy,” Severus replied, his eyes gazing up and down your body. He was checking you out.
“Well what is it?” You asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Fuck me,” he spat out, his eyes widening as soon as the words left his lips.
Your own eyes widened. “Excuse me?”
Severus grasped your shoulders and looked directly into your eyes, forcing a pale blush to sneak onto your cheeks. “I said fuck me.” Without another second of silence, or a wait for your reply, Severus smashed his lips against your own. You let out a squeal of confusion as you stumbled back against his desk as Severus’ hands began to roam your body desperately. You wanted to fight him off, but this was a dream come true. You quickly melted into the kiss, kissing back with as much vigour as he was. Your hands wrapped around his neck and your fingers intertwined themselves with his black hair, tugging slightly. A moan fell from Severus’ lips as he bucked his hips against yours roughly. It was then that you felt his erection straining against his trousers, twitching at the thought of you underneath him. A hand trailed up your shirt and made its way to your breasts, squeezing them roughly and forcing a moan to fall from your own lips.
“Severus,” you whimpered as his hands fell from underneath your shirt and began to tug at the buttons, basically ripping your shirt off of your torso. When your shirt was off, Severus’ lips trailed down to your neck biting down at the sensitive flesh leaving a trail of wet kisses to your shoulder. The pleasure was consuming him, his body was hot to the touch and it was overwhelming. Severus Snape had never felt anything like this before. His fingertips trailed your soft body as he continued kissing at your shoulder, hands stopping at the waistband of your long skirt. In one swift motion, your skirt was pooling around your ankles leaving you in nothing but your underwear in front of your old potions Professor. Severus took a step back, taking in your beauty as he unzipped his trousers, not bothering to remove his clothes. He was speechless. His mind was spinning. All he could think about right now was the release that he was aching for.
You watched with wide eyes as Severus pumped his cock, pre-cum drooling from the slit. You bit your lip as anticipation filled your body. “Turn around,” he groaned, grasping your hair tightly between his fingers and forcing you to turn around facing his desk. You let out a soft whimper as your body was moved to rest against the desk, bending over it. Severus fingers danced along the waistband of your underwear before he ripped them off your body, the ripped lace fabric falling to the floor in two parts. You gasped as the cool dungeon air hit your core and shivered as your body adjusted to the temperature change. You didn’t even get a chance to process what was happening before Severus thrust himself inside of you in one motion.
“Oh Gods,” you whimpered, grasping the edge of the desk as Severus fully bottomed out inside of you. His hips immediately began moving against yours with sharp, hard thrusts. Gasps emitted from your mouth with each harsh movement Severus made, his hips snapping against yours viciously as he desperately sought after his release.
“You’re so tight,” Severus growled into your ear, his grasp on your hair tightening as his movements sped up. “Fuck it feels so good.”
You couldn’t reply with words. Instead you just nodded your head as Severus’ free hand worked its way to your throat, squeezing lightly. The sounds of your squelching wetness echoed through the classroom and it was only turning you on more as you gripped the edge of the desk with all you had. His hips stuttered slightly as you pressed your backside against him harder, silently begging for more. Your senses were overwhelmed with pleasure as you felt your release edge closer, a hand falling from the edge of the desk to your clit as your fingers began to play with the bundle of nerves between your legs. “Severus,” you gasped, eyes widening. “I’m going to cum!”
Severus just grunted in response, his hips never faltering their movements as your walls clenched around his cock, squeezing him tightly. It all happened so fast and before you knew it, you were cumming around his member, walls fluttering with pleasure as your eyelids began to flutter from the pleasure. “Shit,” Severus growled, his hand fell from your hair and your throat as he grasped your hips tightly and continued to pound against you. He was desperately chasing his release, his mind not even focused on your pleasure. He just wanted to cum, needed to cum. His cock twitched inside of you as your velvety walls continued to spasm around him from your release as moans tumbled from your lips. They bounced off the walls and it seemed to push Severus over the edge. “Fuck I’m cumming,” he whined, hips stuttering once more as his cum spurted from the head of his cock and deep inside of you. A string of loud, erotic moans left his lips as he came, his body shaking violently as he continued to fuck his load into your womb. Your eyes widened as load after load was spilled inside of you.
When he had finally finished cumming, Severus pulled out of you slowly with a popping sound and groan from his lips. He looked down at you as the lust subsided, guilt and shame taking over his mind and body. “I’m… Sorry,” he whispered, tucking his still erect cock back into his trousers.
You were confused as you turned to look at him, both of you were panting and trying to catch your breath in the awkward silence. “Why are you sorry?” You asked, picking your skirt up from around your ankles and shirt off the floor.
“I didn’t mean for that to happen,” Severus replied, turning his face away from you. His cheeks were flushed red from his release and from embarrassment.
“You couldn’t help it,” you said, trying your best to make him feel better. “I’m just glad I was able to help you at least.” You smiled at him softly and put your shirt on before walking up to him and placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. He flinched at the contact and looked into your eyes. When his eyes met yours he was immediately filled with feelings he hadn’t felt in so long. Comfort. Longing. Love. Whether it was the endorphins from the aftermath of the sex or real feelings, he was unsure, only time would tell.
Severus paused for a moment, thinking of what to say. “Thank you,” he eventually said, voice hoarse.
“Don’t mention it,” you whispered back to him, a smile still plastered on your lips.
“You should head back to Pomona. Tell her I’ll be doing some tests on the vial to figure out what it is. Meanwhile, I’ll dispose of the pollen properly,” Severus said as he straightened up his posture, demeanour returning to his stern, stoic one. You nodded in understanding as you smoothed your hair out, hoping to make yourself look presentable before you headed back to the Greenhouses. You turned on your heels as you walked towards the classroom door but was stopped by Severus once more. “Y/N?”
“Yes?” You asked, turning around to face him.
“Don’t mention this to anybody,” he said, eyebrows narrowing.
“Wouldn’t dream of it, Professor,” you said with a sly grin before making your way out of the potions classroom. You slowly made your way back to the Greenhouses, Severus’ cum trickling down your thighs as you walked. You wondered where this left the two of you and how awkward your meetings would be from now on. After all, you were colleagues now. Only time would tell what would happen next, but you were both nervous and excited to find out. When you arrived back at the Greenhouses, you told Pomona that Severus would be doing some tests on the vial to figure out what the clear liquid was and to that, she just nodded and thanked you for all your help. You were dismissed for the day and made your way back to your quarters to process all that had happened.

Meeting with the Order of the Phoenix had always a tiresome day for Severus. While he dreaded spending the day in the home of his childhood bully and long-time enemy, Sirius Black, he was grateful for the time he was able to spend with the one woman who brought a smile to his face.
Y/N had been seeing Severus for a few months now, though they had never actually made anything official. They agreed to a casual relationship at first, but they both knew there was more to it than that. Her feelings for the wizard only grew with each passing day, but still Severus refused to admit he felt anything other than lust for the young woman.
Still, she revelled in the nights they spent together, however fleeting they seemed. It was hard for them to gain any alone time together given her less than ideal living situation with his childhood enemy coupled with the fact he refused to invite her into his home. Still, they managed to steal a few moments together here and there.
Today’s meeting was particularly agonising for Severus, nothing of note being said that he didn’t already know. Mad Eye’s voice faded into a singular drone, as Severus leaned back lazily in his chair. His thoughts on nothing but the woman across from him. It had been too long since he had felt her hands on his body; the softness of her skin intertwining with his rough calloused hands, he missed the sweetness of her mouth on his, the sound of her gasps when his hand found its way between her legs, but he especially missed the drooling mess she became when he fucked her hard and rough, his hand covering her mouth to ensure they wouldn’t make a sound.
Y/N tried hard not to look in Severus’ direction to avoid suspicion, regardless she could still feel the way his gaze raked over her body, his mind wandering to places they should not go at a time like this. A red-hot flush crept its way up her neck, the thought of Severus checking her out so publicly sent a rush straight to her core. She cleared her throat and sat up straighter, attempting to dissuade Severus’ glances. He did not take the hint.
Idly pacing around the room like a hyperactive dog, Severus couldn’t help but feel irritated by the mere presence of Sirius Black in his own home, though when the man turned his attention on Y/N his blood began to boil.
Sliding up behind her, Black placed a hot mug of tea in front of Y/N; in innocent gesture from any other, but Snape knew Black always had a motive. The young witch flashed his rival a sweet smile, thanking him for her beverage. Confirming his suspicions, Sirius lingered behind Y/N resting a heavy hand on each of her shoulders, gently massaging. Severus had to hold back his primal instincts, forcing himself not to curse the man for even thinking he can touch what is his. Sirius didn’t move his hands for the remainder of the meeting, neither did Severus’ gaze on them.
The meeting continued for a further forty-five minutes before its members were finally free. However, Molly Weasley had insisted she make everyone a meal before they left, so the house was particularly more crowded than normal.
Y/N shot Severus a look, telling him to meet her upstairs while everyone else seemed preoccupied with chatter. The Potion’s Master wasted no time hesitating, moving the second she gave the order, stealthily disappearing up to her bedroom.
Y/N was not so lucky in her escape. Sirius watched on closely as she swiftly exited the room.
“Oh, thank God.” Y/n gasped at the sight of Snape standing in the middle of her bedroom. Closing the door she hurried towards him, throwing her hands over his head and pulling her body close to his. Instinctively Severus hands fell to her hips, though quickly began to roam when her lips met his.
Balancing on her tiptoes to match his height, she moaned into his mouth.
“God, I’ve missed you.”
“It’s been too long.” His words were muffled by her neck as he kissed his way down to her collar bone, nipping the skin with his teeth once or twice.
She let out a single sharp gasp; the kind he loved so much and he found himself dreaming of regularly.
“How much time do we have?” Severus rasped, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear that had gone awry.
“Not long. Molly said dinner will be out shortly.”
“We’ll have to be quick then.”
Y/N groaned at the prospect. They were forever having to rush their time together, just once she wanted to be able to savour her time with him, maybe then he would actually stick around after sex and she might have the chance to discuss their feelings for each other. As it were, the couple were resigned to hot and heavy meet ups in secret, providing Severus with the perfect excuse to keep her at arm’s length.
“Don’t you think we should just tell people? I’m tired of sneaking around behind everyone’s back.”
Severus nuzzled into the crook of her neck, sucking softly on her skin.
“We’re not telling anyone, because there is nothing to tell. No one needs to know that we’re sleeping together, Y/N.”
She pulled away from him to look him in the eye.
“But what if it becomes more?”
“It won’t.” He stated firmly.
“But –“
“We’ve spoke about this Y/N.”
Her heart dropped despite expecting nothing less; Severus had always made his intentions with her very clear; it was foolish of Y/N to hope otherwise.
Snape made to unbuckle his belt, just as there came a knock at the door.
The pair exchanged a panicked glance.
“Y/N.” Sirius called from the other side of the door. “Are you alright?”
“Fine, thanks. I just came up to look for my wand.” She attempted to dissuade him.
“Do you need any help looking?” The door handle twitched under his grip.
“No, thanks! I’ll be down in a minute.”
The door, thankfully, remained closed. Sirius footsteps faded as he made his way back down the stairs.
Severus was on her in an instant, his hands raking through her tangled mess of hair, capturing her mouth in an aggressive kiss.
Y/N moaned once more, savouring the way his tongue dominated her mouth.
“I have to go.” She sighed, reluctantly. Sirius would be expecting her back down any second, if she didn’t show, he was sure to come up again.
It was Severus’ turn to groan; the tightness of his trousers had become almost too much to bear. It had been so long since their last session, and now who knows when they would next get a moment together.
“I’m sorry. Stay for dinner, I might be able to escape after that.”
Reluctantly, Severus agreed to her offer. Promising to follow shortly behind once she left.
Unsurprisingly, the kitchen was swarmed with people. Countless Weasley’s and numerous other Order members took up the majority of seats around the table. Y/N and Sirius opted to stand on the outskirts of the table, knowing there would be plenty of left overs for them to have once everyone left. Which allowed Severus to slip into the remaining seat practically unnoticed.
Severus sat straight in his chair, arms crossed, eyes laser focused on the couple huddled on the other side of the room. Y/N and Sirius leaned against the kitchen cabinets, giggling together like a couple of school children. Snape watched as Sirius leaned into his friend, brushing aside the loose strand of hair, and whispering something in her ear. Y/N threw her head back and cackled to the sky. It occurred to Snape you had never laughed so hard at anything he had said before, sending a burning feeling of jealousy to his gut. He watched on as Y/N placed her had on the centre of Sirius chest, an attempt to steady herself from her bout of hysteria. Severus jaw clenched.
Finally able to calm herself down, Y/N stalked the length of the table, checking out the food on offer. Severus eyes followed the woman intensely until she came to a stop directly behind him.
“Something bothering you?” She whispered in his ear, noticing the tension coursing through his body.
Severus remained silent, already wary that by standing next to each other they were exposing themselves. She could tell her relationship with Sirius pissed Severus off, but he would never admit it. If he did, he would have to tell her why it bothered him so much. And she knew he was not ready to admit to anything yet. Y/N stole a forkful of carrots from his plate and continued her round of the table.
Sirius joined the woman in her hunt for scraps, the two of them lurking around like a couple of vultures. While, Y/N was simply focused on stuffing as much food into her mouth as possible, Sirius’ attention remained solely on her. When she bent to stick her fork into a bowl of roast potatoes, Sirius rested a hand on the small of her back, keeping it there to draw her closer to him. Severus watched on furiously, his nostrils flaring at the sight. Y/N bit into a large roast potato and moaned appreciatively. Severus mind wandered to an inappropriate place and it was clear Sirius’ did the same.
“My God, Molly, those potatoes are amazing. What did you put in them?”
Severus went deaf to the world as Y/N held her forkful of potato out for Sirius to take a bite from. He took hold of her wrist, bringing her hand up to his mouth, and made intense eye contact while he slipped the potato from its tines.
Severus’ hands balled into fists and his teeth ground together. It was everything he could do to stop himself from lashing out at the man he already despised.
Either this woman was deliberately trying to drive him mad or she truly saw nothing wrong with her actions; either option was maddening to him.
Severus almost hit his breaking point was when Sirius used his thumb to swipe a drop of gravy from the corner of Y/N’s mouth, bringing it back to her lips to lick.
All idle chatter stopped at the sound of Snape’s chair screeching across the hardwood floors. At risk of exposing their casual relationship, Severus stormed out of the kitchen.
Y/N wasn’t shocked by his reaction. In fact, she was so close to breaking him it almost made her giddy. There was no hiding his feelings for her when this was how he reacted.
After dinner, Y/N helped Molly clear up while everyone else retired to the Livingroom. No one dared speak a word to the brooding Potion’s Master who sat stewing in a single armchair by the fire. To be honest everyone was shocked he was still here, but no one was brave enough to question it; Except Sirius.
“Still here, Snivellus? Thought you’d have slithered off back to that hovel of yours.”
“At least I’m able to slither anywhere, Black. You set one foot outside, and it’s straight back to Azkaban. Tell me, who’s a better roommate? Y/N or the dementors.”
“I wouldn’t say I’m that bad, Severus.” Y/N scoffed at his comparison, shooting him a stern glare as she returned from the kitchen.
“I wasn’t meaning like that.” He sighed to himself.
“Don’t worry about it. Sirius and I have a good thing going here, let’s hope he won’t be returning to Azkaban any time soon, shall we?”
Severus said nothing. He hated the fact you lived with his worst enemy, but he what he hated even more was you defending Sirius over him. The sly grin on the other man’s face showed he had won this round.
Y/N perched on the arm of the chair next to Sirius, finding every other chair occupied.
“Here. Take my seat.” Severus jumped up from his spot on the armchair.
“No need, Snivellus.” Sirius stopped Y/N in her tracks. “There’s plenty of room for her right here.” He budged up a few inches, patting the space next to him. His gaze remained fixed on Snapes, a challenge that said whoever’s offer you took would be the victor.
Eyes flicking between the two men Y/N had a choice to make. While she didn’t like to see Severus defeated by childhood bully, the obvious answer was to sit with Sirius. Not only would everyone get a seat, but doing so would further rile Snape up, maybe then he would be ready to admit to his feelings for her.
“Sit back down, Severus. I’ll be fine here.” She slipped into the edge of the couch; her thighs pushed right up against her friend’s.
Sirius’ grin grew wider at the second small victory. He placed his arm around Y/N’s shoulders, pulling her into his chest.
Severus’ jaw clenched once more. The sight of Sirius resting his arm on her so confidently had him seeing red.
“Has it ever occurred to you, Black, that the woman might not want your grubby paws all over her.” He spat.
“That woman has a name, and a voice too come to think of it. I’m sure if Y/N felt in any way uncomfortable around me she would say as much.”
“Perhaps she is just being polite.” He said through gritted teeth.
“Are you jealous, Snape?” Sirius laughed, realisation hitting him. “Are you jealous that a girl like Y/N is not repulsed by the thought of me touching her, as she would you.” Sirius placed an arm on Y/N’s knee to drive home his point.
“I wouldn’t be so sure of that.” Snape scoffed.
“What is that supposed to mean?”
Severus fought back the urge to lash out at him, standing slowly from his chair once again.
“It seems I have overstayed my welcome.” His tone was eerily calm.
Sirius smirked, basking in his victory.
“You always have been all bark, Severus. Next time you’re here remember your place in this house; you are not wanted.”
“The next time I’m here, Black.” Severus sneered. “I’ll be laughing at your pathetic attempts to win Y/N over, Then I’ll take her upstairs and fuck her until the only thing she knows how to say is my name. MY name Black, not yours.”
The room fell silent at the Professor’s words, everyone’s attention focusing in on him and Sirius.
Molly threw a hand over her mouth in shock, quickly trying to usher her children from the room.
Sirius stood from his seat, pointing his wand in the direction of the Potion’s Master.
“What the fuck did you just say?”
“I said; I’m going to fuck her in your house, while she’s screaming my name and begging for more because she loves the feel of my cock so much.”
A .. flash of light shot from the end of Sirius’ wand, an electric pulse buzzing through the air. Snape deflected it with ease.
The room quickly emptied, leaving only Severus, Sirius and Y/N remaining.
Sirius waited for Snape to take it shot, but it never came. This only angered Sirius more, causing him to send another handful of spells flying his way. Severus deflected each one with a simple movement of his hand.
“You think I’m lying?” Severus taunted. “Ask her yourself.”
Sirius gaze flicked over to Y/N for no more than a second before he continued raging spells in Snape’s direction.
Y/N finally shook herself from her frozen state.
“Sirius stop!” She yelled, watching him send endless curses Snape’s way.
Her friend took no notice of her, continuing to his battle with her lover.
Bored of remaining on defence, Severus finally threw a spell at Sirius. The marauder managed to deflect but stumbled back from the sheer force of the curse.
In an instant there were spells flying back and forth between the men while Y/N watched on helplessly from the side lines.
Seeing Sirius weaken against Severus’ power, had Y/N panicking that someone was truly about to be hurt. Knowing the two shared a sordid history, it was unlikely that either wizard would accept defeat before the other was forced to submit.
“Severus, please stop this.” She ran at him, pulling roughly on his robes to get his attention. “Stop!”
Distracted that Y/N might get caught in the crossfires of the duel, Severus attempted to push her behind him and out of the line of fire. But to no avail, the witch fought against his arm, refusing to surrender to his protection.
Y/N rounded on Severus, pushing roughly at his chest in a last-ditch effort to end the fight.
Despite being unable to hold off Snape’s spells for much longer, Sirius refused to give up without a fight; his spells coming in faster with each passing second.
Losing focus on the battle, Severus’ attention was taken over by trying to keep Y/N safe. Abandoning his wand, he gripped the woman by her wrists and dragged her to the side. Foolishly Snape did not consider that Black would not have the same concern for her safety and another spell headed in their direction. Snape pulled Y/N tight to his chest, covering her with as much of his body as he possible.
Severus winced as pain lashed across his arm. His now cut up sleeve becoming wet with blood.
“Severus.” Y/N yelped, grabbing onto his hand. “Are you hurt, let me see it.”
She took Snape’s arm in his examining the severity of his wounds. They were deep and showed no signs of clotting.
Sirius watched on from the other side of the room, panting breathlessly with exertion. Y/N spun on him, furiously.
“What the hell did you do?”
Sirius remained speechless.
“You shouldn’t have gotten in the way.” Snape snapped, regaining her attention.
“I was trying to stop you from hurting each other.”
“That worked out well, didn’t it?” He glared down at her.
“Stop it, Severus.” She warned, knowing he was trying to deflect from the fact he was hurt.
“I’m sorry.” He admitted, stroking her cheek with his good hand.
“He was telling the truth?” Sirius finally huffed, watching the scene unfold between the two.
“Sirius, I’m sorry. I wanted to tell you but-“
“Are you together?”
Severus and Y/N exchanged a hesitant glance.
“No.”
“Yes.” Y/N turned to Severus in shock.
“But Severus you said-“
“Forget what I said. I’ve spent all night watching what it looks like to have another man flirting with you because he thinks you’re single. I refuse to spend another moment watching that. You’re mine, Y/N, in every way that counts. And I want everyone to know it.”
“Do you mean it?” She looked up at him hopefully.
Severus nodded firmly, tucking that one rouge piece of hair behind her ear before bringing his mouth to hers.
“Then let’s go tell everyone. And maybe heal your arm while we’re at it?”
“Whatever you want.” He smiled.
Sirius may have gotten the upper hand in the duel, but ultimately it was Severus who was victorious in this battle.

Note
Because I’m always cold, imagine first time staying the night with Snape in the dungeons (maybe before it was her quarters or spinner’s end) anyway, he wakes up in the middle of the night to see you gone and starts spiraling only to see you moments later sneak back into the bedroom with every single blanket you own from your quarters
MIDNIGHT COMFORT
hi sender! that's a creative one. i'm so sorry if this is too short but i hope this meets your expectations!
pairing : severus snape x reader
genre : fluff
warning : -
summary : as in the request
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
it’s deep into the night when severus stirs, the usual stillness of the dungeons disrupted by an unsettling absence. he reaches out instinctively, fingers brushing only cold, empty sheets where you should be.
his heart clenches. he sits up, breath sharp, mind already crafting worst-case scenarios. had you left? decided the cold, the dark, he wasn’t worth enduring?
the thought is unbearable, slicing through him like ice. he swings his legs over the edge of the bed, ready to search the castle if he must.
the bedroom door creaks.
he freezes, breath held, wandless but poised. until you stumble in, arms piled high with an absurd number of blankets, your face scrunched with determination as you wrestle the door shut with your foot.
you’re too focused on balancing your load to notice him staring, wide-eyed.
“what are you doing?” his voice cuts through the quiet, rough with lingering worry.
you jump, nearly dropping your pile. “you’re awake.”
“clearly.” his tone softens despite himself. “explain.”
you shuffle over, unceremoniously dumping the blankets onto the bed with a relieved sigh. “it’s freezing down here. i couldn’t sleep.”
he blinks, processing. “so you... raided your quarters for every blanket in existence?”
“yes,” you huff, rubbing your chilled hands together. “and i’d do it again.”
relief floods through him, warm and overwhelming. you weren’t leaving. you were just cold.
you glance at him, suddenly self-conscious. “sorry if i woke you.”
he exhales slowly, pulling you gently into his arms, your cold fingers pressed between his warmer ones. “next time... wake me.”
“thought you might think i was being ridiculous,” you admit softly, leaning into his chest.
his fingers tilt your chin up, dark eyes softer than you’ve ever seen. “never.”
your breath catches, warmth blooming in your chest as he brushes a strand of hair from your face, his hand lingering against your cheek.
then, slowly, deliberately, he leans in, pressing his lips to yours. soft, steady, grounding.
when he finally pulls back, his forehead rests gently against yours. “let’s get you warm.”
with practiced efficiency, he layers every blanket you brought, wrapping you securely in their shared warmth. when he pulls you back into his arms, you fit perfectly against him, your cold feet tucked against his legs without a word of complaint.
“better?” he murmurs.
you nod sleepily, already drifting off in the safety of his embrace.
for the first time in longer than he can remember, severus falls asleep easily. heart full, and arms even fuller.

December 3: A Treat (Snape x Reader)
(Part of @deepperplexity’s Rickmas 2024)
Every time I try to write for other characters Alan has played, I find myself coming back to Severus over and over. He’s just so complex.
Enjoy this sweet lil awkward date :)
Tumblr media
Getting Severus Snape to go on a date with you was hard enough.
Getting Severus Snape to go on a date with you in public? Near impossible.
Sure, it was nice hanging out with him in his office after work, sipping wine together and complaining about the latest student shenanigans of the week. But you found yourself wanting more.
How you finally managed to convince him to physically go out with you was like pulling teeth: it had taken countless evenings in either your office, or his office, along with countless glasses of wine, before he had finally (and rather reluctantly) agreed.
Now that the winter holidays were in full swing, and most of the students had gone home for a few weeks, you suggested going into Hogsmeade for the afternoon. And of course even then, Severus tried his best to manoeuvre as far away from the public as possible.
The two of you sat side by side on a fallen tree, overlooking the Shrieking Shack in the distance. You two were familiar with each other’s company — comfortable enough to sit with your shoulders touching, but not quite at the point where you could reach out and hold his hand without a second thought.
“Do you have any favourite places at Hogsmeade?” You asked after a brief moment of silence passed between the two of you. Severus glanced over at you with a slight frown.
“No, I can’t say I do. I don’t often come here.”
“You don’t?”
“No.” He replied, burying his face a little further into his scarf. “Unless I’m on chaperone duty during a school trip.”
“Well,” you answered quietly, nudging his shoulder. Severus glanced at you quickly with a frown before softening when he realized your gesture was of a friendly nature. “Thanks for coming out here with me.”
He nodded slowly, his eyes dark and unreadable as usual. “Of course.”
Your heart raced a little as another silence passed between the two of you. Why was being with Severus so damn hard this time around? Usually when you two were together, the conversation was effortless. Things flowed nicely. This time… it seemed neither of you knew quite how to break the ice.
A gust of wind rattled the trees around you, and you pulled your jacket tighter around yourself. It was much too cold to be sitting out here the way you were, and you longed to be inside somewhere warm.
“What’s your favourite treat?” You found yourself blurting out suddenly. Severus looked at you as if you had just insulted him in another language.
“My… what?”
“Favourite treat. Do you have one?”
Severus blinked in surprise, lost for words for a moment.
“I don’t think I have one,” he admitted. He seemed to be tiptoeing around you, choosing his words carefully. “Do you?”
You nodded. “Hot chocolate… from Honeydukes specifically.”
Severus shook his head. “I’ve never tried it.”
“Are you serious? Let’s go, I’ll get you one.”
“That’s kind of you, but I don’t need one.”
“Well, I do.” You announced as you began walking. Anything to get out of the cold.
As you walked into Honeydukes, you were gently cocooned by a rush of warm sugary air, and you couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief. Severus stuck out like a sore thumb in the store, in his all-black attire. You noticed the way he hung back in the store, staying close to the wall as if not to be seen. He stayed rather still, but he kept glancing around at the small number of others browsing the shop. He seemed anxious.
Before you could convince yourself otherwise, you grabbed his hand gently and tugged him up to the front counter. Out of the corner of your eye, you caught him visibly stiffen before slowly softening as he grew more familiar with your touch. His hands were surprisingly warm.
You ordered two hot chocolates, and just as you were about to pay, Severus stepped forward and silently took out a few Galleons from his pocket. He placed them on the counter quickly, beating you to the payment.
“Oh.” You murmured in faint surprise. “I was going to get it for you, you didn’t have to do that-”
“I insist.” Severus replied softly. His eyes were warm, and you caught the tiniest smile grace his lips for a split second. You nodded your head in gratitude.
“Thank you.”
Hot chocolates now warming your hands, the two of you walked in silence and sat together in a small clearing, just around the corner from the main street. Severus took a small sip of his hot chocolate, and you caught the tiny gasp of surprise he made as he took in the flavour.
“What do you think?” You grinned, watching his reaction. He scrutinized the cup, deep in thought, before nodding slowly as he turned to smile at you.
“I see why you like this so much.”
You laughed and took a sip for yourself. “See? I told you it was good.”
The air felt much less awkward between the two of you, and more like how it was when you’d visit each other’s offices at Hogwarts. Now that you were out of public view for the most part, Severus seemed to have visibly relaxed.
You glanced over at him and had to bite back a smile. He had the smallest bit of chocolate just above his lip. You pressed your lips together to keep from saying anything, but Severus caught your expression. He frowned curiously.
“What is it?”
“You've got, um…” you tried to tap your mouth quickly to signal to him, but he didn’t quite get the right spot.
Oh, to hell with it.
“Um no, it’s a little lower…” you reached up quickly and swiped it away with a gentle touch. Severus kept his gaze on you the entire time. Dozens of emotions seemed to flash in his eyes all at once. You found it hard to look away. He looked beautiful in the winter light.
You leaned forward and pressed the tiniest kiss to the corner of his mouth. Your lips didn’t quite touch his, and as a result it was more of a cheek kiss really, but your heart was still racing nonetheless. Severus blinked curiously, observing every tiny movement and expression you made.
And then, after setting his hot chocolate down without a word, he leaned in and pressed his lips to yours softly.
You inhaled sharply, every sense suddenly running on overdrive. You tensed at first, but then Severus rested his hand gently on your leg, and you found yourself relaxing immediately. Your kisses were slow. Deliberate. As if you were testing the waters together.
You broke away, breathing a little more intensely than before. Severus looked at you as if to ask if that was okay, and you knew right there that he had fully captured your heart.
“Could I kiss you again, perhaps?”
You had to giggle at his question. You nodded, setting down your hot chocolate on the bench beside you so you could properly face him now.
“I’d really like that.”
Severus smiled, genuinely. It was a sight you knew you’d love to get used to seeing. He leaned in, kissing you again with much less hesitancy than the first time.
You’d never be able to look at hot chocolate the same way again.

Severus getting a prep cook job in Cokeworth one summer and picking up solid mf knife skills. Like those culinary school chopping videos. Just fast asf precise knife work and handling.
He gets back to Hogwarts and it’s just business as usual until he’s DEAD tired one day and is prepping ingredients in Slughorn’s class. He gets to something that needs to be sliced uniformly and is similar in shape/size to food he prepped at the restaurant and muscle memory just kicks into overdrive.
The whole classroom freezes and looks at him because idk if y’all know this but that shit is LOUD compared to hesitant knife work. It smacks the cutting board and has a way different rhythm than normal kitchen noise.
Yeah it’s a skill no one has encountered unless they have been back of house at a restaurant.
Severus is too exhausted to process that anyone is paying attention to him so he just keeps going. Ingredients? Prepped? Potion? Brewed with gusto, like he was born to do it. His brain isn’t online so he’s acting like it’s a dream and adds in some flourish and flair, a trick to catch a knife, a fancy stir to help aerate the brew, a crazy amount of multitasking just because he can.
Jaw dropping behavior.
Slughorn doesn’t know how to react honestly, and is spared needing to praise him considering Severus is half awake when he hands his potion to his head of house.

Severus paid you no mind at first when you first arrived to teach. Why would he? You were no different from the other professors that worked at Hogwarts.
That was until recently at least.
Your seat was next to his in the great hall, but you two had never talked. But today was the day that you started conversation.
"The house elves sure do make some great food, don't they?"
He just stared at you from the corner on his eye at first. But then he swallowed the food that was in his mouth and nodded once, looking back down at his plate. "Indeed."
Severus had not expected you to talk to him - let alone WANT to talk to him. He thought he had played the "don't talk to me or come near me" role pretty well, but it obviously did not work on you.
You continued talking.
"I sometimes wonder what their lives are like down there. I mean there must be hundreds that have to prepare food for the entire school!"
Severus just silently nodded, secretly enjoying listening to you ramble while he ate but hid his feelings well, having a slightly annoyed face but you paid no mind. You were the one mostly talking until you had asked him a question.
"How long have you been a professor here?" You smiled up at him, realising that you had been the one holding up the conversation and hadn't even asked him about anything.
He was caught a little off guard but spoke in his deep, cold voice.
"A long time."
"Ah.. I know we teach very different classes, but maybe you can give me some tips on being a better teacher for my students." You said softly as you took one final bite of your food.
Severus looked down at you, his eyes softening the slightest bit but his stern face stayed the same.
"I'm sure you will be an astounding teacher with or without my help."

Jealous severus x reader? maybe involving lockheart
Title: Someone Like Me?
Warning: Angst, jealous severus, lockhart
Words Count: 3000+
Masterlist
---
The air in the Hogwarts greenhouse was thick with the scent of soil and herbs as Y/N moved gently through the rows of plants. She had always found comfort here, among the vibrant greenery and the soft hum of magical growth. Herbology was her sanctuary, and each day she poured her heart into tending to the rare plants and teaching her students how to care for them with the same tenderness.
It was peaceful, or at least, it had been until recently.
As of late, her tranquility had been invaded by a certain new presence at the school—Gilderoy Lockhart, the newly appointed Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. His arrival had caused quite the stir, especially among the female students and even some of the staff, but for Y/N, his constant attention was becoming more than a little uncomfortable.
At first, she had thought it was just harmless friendliness. Lockhart had swept into her greenhouse on the first week of term, his toothy smile gleaming as brightly as the medals on his robes.
"My dear Professor Y/N!" he had exclaimed, clasping his hands together in a gesture that was all too theatrical. "I must say, you have the most enchanting little space here! It’s no wonder the students speak so highly of you."
Y/N had blushed, embarrassed by the attention, and murmured something about the plants deserving the praise, not her. Lockhart, however, had waved away her modesty with a laugh that echoed too loudly in the intimate confines of the greenhouse.
"Nonsense, nonsense! I can see that you put as much care into your work as I do into my own," he said, leaning in just a little too close. "You and I, we have much in common, I think."
She had smiled politely, trying not to shrink under his overly familiar presence. She wasn’t used to people being so forward with her. It wasn’t that she was oblivious—Y/N had noticed Lockhart’s flirtations—but she simply didn’t know how to respond. Confrontation wasn’t in her nature, and she didn’t want to create awkwardness among the staff. So, she had smiled, and tried to extricate herself from his attention as gracefully as she could.
But it didn’t stop there.
Lockhart’s visits to the greenhouse became more frequent. He would find reasons to come by during her lessons, interrupting her with flamboyant anecdotes about his supposed adventures. The students would giggle or roll their eyes, but Y/N found herself growing more and more uneasy. His compliments had become more pointed, more personal, always accompanied by a lingering touch on her arm or a too-familiar smile.
"Professor Y/N," Lockhart had said one afternoon, as he appeared at her greenhouse once more, his robes billowing dramatically behind him. "I was just telling the Headmaster how much we make the perfect team, you and I. Perhaps we should write a book together! Herbs and Heroics, don’t you think? It would sell like that." He snapped his fingers, leaning toward her again.
Y/N’s discomfort had risen, her hands twisting nervously around a sprig of dittany. "I—I’m really not a writer, Professor Lockhart. I don’t think—"
"Nonsense!" he interrupted, his tone dripping with charm. "With your knowledge of plants and my experience, we’d make quite the pair. Don’t you think?"
His hand brushed her shoulder as he spoke, and Y/N stiffened slightly. She gave a weak smile, hoping he’d take the hint, but once again, she found herself trapped by her own politeness. She didn’t want to upset him, didn’t want to cause a scene, but Merlin, how she wished he would leave her alone.
Across the castle, in the dimly lit Potions classroom, Severus Snape stood over a cauldron, stirring the mixture with precise movements, though his mind was far from the task at hand.
For weeks now, he had been watching. Watching as Lockhart fawned over Y/N, as he invaded her personal space with that nauseating smile and those absurd stories. It was infuriating. Severus had always been protective of Y/N—more than he would ever admit. They had worked together for years now, and though their relationship had never ventured beyond professional, he had long harbored feelings for her that he kept buried deep inside.
He had always told himself that Y/N deserved better than him, better than someone as broken and cold as he was. She was kind, too kind for the likes of him. So, he had never acted on his feelings, content to watch from the sidelines, to enjoy the small moments when they shared quiet conversations about rare herbs or discussed the latest potions ingredients she had gathered for him.
But now, with Lockhart constantly hovering around her, Severus found his resolve crumbling.
At first, he had tried to ignore it. Lockhart was a buffoon, and surely Y/N would see through his ridiculous posturing soon enough. But day after day, Severus watched as Lockhart showered her with attention, and worst of all, Y/N didn’t reject him. She didn’t push him away. She didn’t seem to be upset by his advances.
And that was what hurt the most.
Perhaps, Severus thought bitterly, she liked Lockhart’s attention. Perhaps she enjoyed the compliments, the flirtation. Why wouldn’t she? Lockhart was everything Severus wasn’t—charming, outgoing, and confident. And while Severus could see through the man’s facade, perhaps Y/N couldn’t.
Perhaps she was falling for him.
The thought sent a cold wave of pain through Severus, and he found himself withdrawing from Y/N more and more. It was easier that way. Easier to distance himself before he had to watch her fall into Lockhart’s arms. He started avoiding her, no longer lingering in the staffroom when she entered, no longer stopping by her greenhouse to ask for ingredients. He couldn’t bear it. Couldn’t bear to watch her be swept away by someone so unworthy of her, and yet… someone she seemed to be accepting.
Y/N had noticed the change almost immediately.
Severus was avoiding her.
For weeks now, he had been cold, distant, and she couldn’t understand why. She had always admired Severus, despite his stern demeanor and cutting remarks. There was something about him that intrigued her, something deeper, and over the years, she had come to value the rare moments when he let his guard down, even if just for a second.
But now, it was as if he had built a wall between them. She couldn’t even catch his eye in the hallways, and whenever she tried to speak to him, he dismissed her with a curt nod or a sharp word. It hurt more than she cared to admit. She missed him, missed their quiet conversations and the way he would surprise her with his vast knowledge of plants and potions.
At first, she thought she had done something to upset him, but no matter how many times she went over their last conversations, she couldn’t find anything wrong. It wasn’t until she saw the way Severus’s eyes flickered with something close to anger when he caught her speaking with Lockhart that she began to piece it together.
Could it be… jealousy?
The thought was almost too much to believe. Severus, jealous of Lockhart? The idea seemed absurd, and yet, the more she thought about it, the more sense it made. She had seen the way his expression darkened when Lockhart was near, the way his jaw clenched whenever the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor tried to engage her in conversation.
But if Severus was upset, he wasn’t going to tell her. He was too stubborn for that.
So, after weeks of being brushed aside, Y/N decided she needed to confront him. She couldn’t take the cold distance anymore, and if he was angry with her, she needed to know why.
One evening, after a particularly long day in the greenhouse, Y/N made her way down to the dungeons. She had seen Severus slip out of the Great Hall after dinner, his usual shadowy presence retreating into the depths of the castle. She followed him, her heart pounding in her chest with nerves, but she was determined to get answers.
She found him in his office, sitting behind his desk, a quill in hand as he scrawled something into a large, leather-bound book. He didn’t look up when she knocked softly on the doorframe.
"Severus," she said quietly, stepping into the room.
He didn’t respond at first, his eyes remaining fixed on the parchment before him.
"Severus," she repeated, a little more firmly.
With a sigh of irritation, he finally glanced up, his dark eyes cold and unreadable. "What do you want, Y/N?"
Y/N hesitated, her fingers twisting nervously together. "I… I need to know why you’ve been avoiding me."
Severus’s expression didn’t change. He set his quill down, leaning back in his chair with a look of cool indifference. "I don’t know what you’re talking about."
"Yes, you do," Y/N pressed, stepping closer to his desk. "You’ve been avoiding me for weeks now, and I don’t understand why. Did I do something to upset you?"
He let out a harsh laugh, though there was no humor in it. "Upset me? No, Y/N, you didn’t upset me. I simply have no interest in wasting my time with someone like you."
The words hit her like a physical blow, and she took a step back, her eyes widening in hurt and confusion. "Someone like me? What does that mean?"
Severus’s gaze was sharp, his voice colder than she had ever heard it. "You know exactly what it means. I’ve seen the way you prance around with Lockhart, letting him fawn over you like some lovesick puppy. Clearly, you enjoy the attention."
Y/N’s heart clenched painfully in her chest. "I—Severus, it’s not like that. I don’t—"
But he cut her off, his words laced with bitterness. "Don’t insult my intelligence, Y/N. I’ve seen how you let him flirt with you, how you blush and smile like a schoolgirl..I don’t have time for someone like you. If you enjoy Lockhart’s company so much, then by all means, continue. But don’t expect me to waste my time on someone who can’t even see past his ridiculous charm."
Y/N felt tears prick at the corners of her eyes, the weight of his cruel words crushing her. She had never seen Severus like this, so angry, so hurt. She opened her mouth to speak, to defend herself, but the words wouldn’t come. All she could do was stand there, frozen in place, as Severus’s cold gaze bore into her.
When she finally found her voice, it was barely a whisper. "I never wanted his attention, Severus. I’ve only ever—"
"Enough," Severus snapped, standing abruptly and turning away from her. "I don’t want to hear it. If you wish to continue entertaining that fool, that’s your business. But I will not be part of it."
With that, he stormed out of the room, leaving Y/N standing there, her heart shattered and tears spilling down her cheeks. She had come for answers, but all she had found was pain.
The following days were a blur for Y/N. She avoided the staffroom, avoided Severus, and kept to herself in the greenhouse. She couldn’t stop replaying their conversation in her head, his harsh words echoing painfully in her mind. I simply have no interest in wasting my time with someone like you.
She hadn’t known it was possible to feel this hurt, this rejected. For the first time, she found herself dreading the start of each day, dreading the possibility of seeing Severus in the halls. The spark of happiness that usually came with her work had dimmed, replaced by a hollow sadness that seemed to follow her everywhere she went.
Even her students noticed the change in her demeanor, though they were too polite to mention it. She tried to hide her feelings, tried to put on a brave face, but it was difficult. Every time she passed Severus in the corridors, her heart ached with the memory of his words, and every time Lockhart made his usual visits to the greenhouse, she felt a wave of nausea rise in her throat.
It didn’t take long for Minerva McGonagall to notice.
One afternoon, as Y/N was tending to a bed of mandrakes, Minerva appeared at the door of the greenhouse, her sharp eyes studying Y/N with a knowing look.
"Y/N," she said softly, stepping into the room. "May I have a word?"
Y/N looked up, startled, and quickly wiped her hands on her apron. "Of course, Minerva."
Minerva approached her, her expression softening as she saw the sadness in Y/N’s eyes. "You’ve been rather quiet lately, my dear. Is everything all right?"
Y/N forced a smile, though it didn’t reach her eyes. "I’m fine, just… busy."
Minerva didn’t seem convinced. She took a seat on one of the nearby benches, folding her hands in her lap as she spoke. "You’ve been avoiding the staffroom, and I can’t help but notice that you haven’t been your usual self. Is there something going on? Does it have to do with Severus?"
The mention of his name sent a sharp pang through Y/N’s chest, and she looked away, her hands trembling slightly as she fussed with the dirt on her fingertips.
"I… I don’t know," she admitted quietly. "I thought we were friends, but lately… I think I’ve upset him. He won’t talk to me anymore."
Minerva’s brow furrowed, concern flashing across her features. "I see. Severus can be… difficult, at times. But I know he holds you in high regard. It’s unlike him to act this way without reason."
Y/N let out a soft sigh, her voice tinged with sadness. "I don’t know what I did wrong. He said I was wasting his time, that he didn’t want to deal with me anymore. And now… now he won’t even look at me."
Minerva’s eyes softened, and she reached out to place a comforting hand on Y/N’s arm. "I don’t believe that’s true, my dear. Severus may not always show it, but he cares deeply for the people in his life. Whatever has caused this rift between you, I don’t believe it’s something you’ve done."
Y/N shook her head, her throat tightening with the weight of her emotions. "But he’s so angry with me. He thinks… he thinks I like Lockhart."
At the mention of Lockhart’s name, Minerva’s expression shifted into something closer to exasperation. "Lockhart? Merlin, that man has been more of a nuisance than I expected. But Severus should know better than to assume that you have any interest in him. He’s clearly projecting his own insecurities onto you."
Y/N blinked, surprised by Minerva’s words. "You think… you think Severus is jealous?"
Minerva smiled faintly, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "I do, Y/N. It’s quite obvious to those of us who know him well. Severus may not be the most forthcoming when it comes to his feelings, but it’s clear that he has feelings for you. He’s just too proud—and too afraid—to admit it."
Y/N’s heart skipped a beat at Minerva’s words. Could it be true? Could Severus’s coldness and bitterness be a result of jealousy?
Minerva gave her a knowing look, standing up from the bench. "I suggest you talk to him, Y/N. Really talk to him. He may not make it easy, but I think you’ll find that he cares more than he lets on."
Severus paced his chambers, his mind a storm of conflicting emotions. He had hurt her—he knew that much. The look in her eyes when he had spoken those cruel words haunted him, and yet, he couldn’t stop the bitterness that had fueled his anger.
It was easier this way, he told himself. Easier to push her away before she had the chance to reject him. Easier to convince himself that she wanted someone else—someone like Lockhart—than to face the truth of his own feelings.
But the truth was becoming harder and harder to ignore.
There was a knock at the door, and Severus’s heart leapt into his throat when he saw Y/N standing there, her eyes red-rimmed but determined.
"Severus," she said, her voice soft but steady. "We need to talk."
He turned away from her, trying to compose himself, but the sight of her standing there, vulnerable and hurt, made his resolve crumble.
"Y/N, I—" He paused, his throat tightening with guilt. "I’m sorry."
She stepped inside, closing the door behind her. "I don’t understand, Severus. Why are you pushing me away? Why are you so angry with me?"
Severus closed his eyes, exhaling slowly. He couldn’t keep lying to her—not anymore.
"I’m not angry with you," he said finally, his voice low. "I’m angry with myself."
Y/N frowned, stepping closer. "What does that mean?"
Severus hesitated, his fingers curling into fists at his sides. He hated this—hated being vulnerable, hated exposing the raw, aching feelings that he had spent so long trying to bury. But he owed her the truth.
"I saw the way Lockhart was… pursuing you," Severus began, his voice tight. "And I thought… I thought you were enjoying it. That you wanted his attention. It hurt, Y/N. It hurt to think that you could fall for someone like him when…" He trailed off, unable to finish the sentence.
Y/N’s eyes softened with understanding. "When what, Severus?"
He met her gaze, his dark eyes filled with something raw and unspoken. "When I’ve been in love with you for years."
The words hung in the air between them, heavy and vulnerable. Y/N’s breath caught in her throat, her heart pounding in her chest.
"I never wanted his attention, Severus," she said softly, her voice trembling. "I never wanted anyone’s attention but yours."
Severus stared at her, stunned by her words. For a moment, he couldn’t speak, couldn’t move. And then, slowly, he closed the distance between them, his hand trembling slightly as he reached out to cup her cheek.
"I’m sorry," he whispered again, his voice thick with emotion. "I’m sorry for pushing you away. I’m sorry for hurting you."
Y/N smiled through her tears, leaning into his touch. "I forgive you, Severus."
And for the first time in what felt like forever, Severus allowed himself to hope.

Severus scowled at the other end of the professors table in the Great Hall, while next to him, Y/N smiled brightly.
They had both had quite different viewpoints of the newest DADA professor.
Remus Lupin.
Being a Lupin herself, she was beyond excited that her older brother was coming to teach.
And he was quite excited to be there as well.
The two were close during their time at Hogwarts. She was often seen flitting around the Marauders like a pesky gnat.
None of them ever thought of her as pesky though.
She was Remus' younger sister, and therefore, their own younger sister.
And throughout their time in school, she had developed a large crush on James Potter.
The only person who ever knew about it was Remus.
And while it absolutely killed her, she was happy when James and Lily started dating.
Then were engaged.
Then married.
Then had Harry.
That was just the kind of person Y/N was. Though it destroyed her, she couldn't help still feeling joyful for him.
Imagine her pain the day he died.
That's how she got to this point now.
So close to Severus Snape.
Because they both bonded together over one thing:
That James and Lily Potter could've had very different lives if they hadn't ended up with each other.
Remus approached Y/N after the dinner, grabbing her elbow gently from behind. She turned away from her conversation with Minerva to look at him, "Oh, Remus. What's wrong?"
He shakes his head, "Nothing. It's just… can I talk to you?"
Minerva intervenes, "Go on, you two. We'll finish this conversation later, Professor Lupin." She pauses, "Well, I guess now you're both Professor Lupin. Hmm."
She walks off.
Y/N turns around to him. "There's something wrong with you. Don't lie. We've been siblings for far too long to make you think you can lie to me."
He sighs and pulls her arm, dragging her out of the Great Hall.
Severus, with his ever watchful gaze, notices the urgency in which Remus drags her away.
He didn't miss the tall werewolf at all.
"He's just so tall, isn't he?" Remus asked joyfully.
She smiles, "Oh, yes. And Harry is so smart. That, or he's quite good at copying off of Ms. Granger. You'll figure it out when you get there."
"He looks just like James." Remus said with distant look in his eyes.
Y/N smiled at the thought, "Yes. But, he looks like Lily, too. Imagine if he had her red hair. He'd fit in with the Weasleys just fine!"
The two siblings laughed loudly in the middle of the deserted corridor.
It was if they were students again.
She looked back at him, "I really have missed you, Rem."
He sighed, "I'm sorry for my actions after… you know."
"Remus, I don't blame you for reacting to all of it the way you did-"
"-you really can, though. You should."
She stepped back, shaking her head, "No. I don't care what happened in the past."
"You're my sister and I pushed you away," he reminded her. "All because I was too weak."
She scoffed, "You're not weak. You've never been weak. Remus, don't-"
"-NO!" He pushed, "I pushed you away after he died because. every. single. time I looked at you after that, I saw him."
Her mouth opened slightly as she registered his words. She moved to speak, but couldn't trust her own voice.
He took a deep breath and pinched the bridge of his nose, "Look. I'm sorry. That's nothing of your concern, and I don't know why I bothered you with it."
"You… you really saw him in me?" She asked.
"I still do."
"What's going on down here?" Severus's voice boomed down the hall as he approached the two.
Remus resisted the urge to roll his eyes.
Y/N turned to look at him, "Just catching up. It's been far too long."
"And still not long enough," Severus said.
"Severus," she scolded.
Remus chuckled lightly, "Nice to see you, too, Snivelus."
"Remus," she scolded towards him now.
The two completely ignored her as they glared at each other.
She sighed, "Let's just pretend we all get along? Please."
Severus grumbled under her breath, but agreed.
Remus considered her question carefully, and finally nodded.
Now, Y/N sat on Severus's desk as he carefully brewed a potion on one of his standing desks.
"Are you happy to be here with your brother again?" He asked as small talk.
She nodded, "Yes. I missed his laugh most dreadfully."
He nodded, throwing another ingredient into the cauldron.
She grabbed a stack of papers on his desk, looking at each one carefully.
"What are you doing?" He asked.
"These are second-year essays, yes?"
"Yes."
She nodded, moving now to sit at his desk. She grabbed his quill and ink. "I'll grade these for you while we talk."
He quickly moved towards the desk, "No. I will grade them another time. Don't do my work for me. You do enough."
She looked up at him with a puzzled brow, "Why? You're busy with your potion. I thought it only fair…"
He stepped back in thought, "It would be a nuisance to you. You won't enjoy the content."
She laughed, "No one enjoys reading or writing essays about anything magical. Everyone would rather just see or do it."
"But that's how they learn." He counter argued.
She shook her head, "No, that's how you teach."
He tilts his head, "And what do you do for Astronomy, darling?"
She smiles, "They draw what they see. The constellations. Then sometimes, I make them come up with new names for each one. When they get older, they get to write stories for them. Come up with their own backstory for how it got in the sky."
He nodded, "But each constellation has its own story already."
"They do. And I tell them those. If people in history can choose what to believe about them, why can't my students? And trust me when I say I haven't had a single student fail the exam for it in four years."
Severus stirred the potion as he listened, "I just don't see how it's helpful, is all."
She shrugs, "As long as they learn, who cares?"
He smiles just barely, "I'll never understand how your little mind works."
She missed the way he almost ruined the potion due to his interest in their conversation.
"So, what's in your lesson plans for today, Professor Lupin?" Y/N asked excitedly.
"Well," Remus said, "Today, I figured the third years would get to face a boggart."
She gasped, "You got your hands on a boggart?"
He nodded, "Hagrid helped me, of course."
"How much longer until your class?"
He looked down at his watch, "Hmm, 40 minutes, I'd say."
She smirked, "Still think our fears are what they always were?"
He tilted his head back and forth, "I'd say so. I mean, we're older but… we're still who we used to be. It's worth a try." He smirked.
She practically skipped with excitement toward the bureau in his classroom. "Merlin, you're already better than the last DADA professor, Rem."
He furrowed his brow, "How so?"
"Well," she recalled, "I heard from a Weasley that he opened the cage of 15 Cornish pixies into the second year class. Caused a major disruption. And then… his personality, of course."
"What do you mean?"
"I don't know about others, but, he would not let me alone. He asked me out almost every other day. It was so tiring. But then, one day, he just… quit bothering me."
Remus pondered her words, "What would make him quit?"
She shook her head, "I don't really know, Rem."
He huffed, "Well, I gotta know now. Think, dear sister."
Y/N looked up in thought, "It was after Christmas break. But… before the Chamber was opened. It doesn't matter, honestly. I much rather be goofing off before your class starts. C'mon."
Remus smiles and stands in front of the bureau with his wand, "Alright."
She opens the door slowly.
The boggart immediately shifts into the full moon.
Y/N sighs at the sight.
He was still scared of who he was when the full moon appeared.
"I suppose nothing has changed," he stated.
She nods.
She walks in front of her brother to face the boggart next.
It takes its time to shift, making her rethink her decision to do this.
It shifted to something much different.
Severus Snape's dead body.
Her face dropped quickly at the sight and her eyes widened.
She knew it wasn't real. She knew it wasn't real.
Why does it look so fucking real?
Remus looks over her shoulder with a gasp.
And neither of them move for a minute.
Finally, her voice breaks through the silence, "Rem?"
He nods, "Yeah. Yeah. I… I got it."
Remus steps in front of her, waving his wand and whisking the creature back into the bureau.
The door shuts and locks, but the siblings remain just as quiet.
As if spooked, Y/N bolts out of the classroom door.
She runs as quickly as her legs can carry her, almost running into sleepy students multiple times.
She throws the door open.
The door to Severus's classroom.
He stands up from his desk slightly startled by her sudden intrusion.
Her entire body relaxes as she sees him.
"Is everything alright?" He asked suspiciously.
She shakes her head, looking down at her feet in embarrassment.
Severus nods, walking up to her slowly. "I have twenty minutes before class. Why don't you come sit?"
When she doesn't move at all, he reaches forward and gently grabs her bicep.
At the contact, she suddenly wraps her arms around his neck and hugs him tightly.
He grunted in surprise, but made no move to get away from her.
In fact, he even wrapped his own arms around her.
"What has got you so worked up?"
She sighs into his chest, "I don't know. Everything just… clicked today."
"It what?"
"It all makes sense."
He leaned back just barely to see her face, "Such as?"
"You told Lockhart to let me alone last year, didn't you?"
He stiffened, "I… may have."
"Thank you."
"Don't. It was nothing."
She nods, pulling away from him, "I'm sorry for all this. I just… had… a moment earlier and… needed to make sure you were alright."
"Why wouldn't I be?"
She shrugs, "It seems that the people I like don't have a great track record of… staying alive, is all."
He tilts his head, "People you 'like'?"
Y/N blushes, "Um. People I enjoy the company of. You know."
"And you enjoy my company?" He asked in a teasing way.
"How could I not?" She finally regains her thoughts, "I should go before your class starts. Granger will be here any minute."
He nods, "Perhaps you may come by later to assist me with grading?"
She smiles, "Only if you let them draw pictures at some point."
Severus sighs, "Alright."
She bits her bottom lip to hold in her laugh. "Alright then. It's a date."
She begins to walk out.
"And Darling?" He asked.
She turned in the doorway to look at him, "Yes?"
"I didn't tell Lockhart to let you alone. I threatened him quite severely."
She tilted her head, "How?"
He shrugged, "Does it matter?"
She shakes her head with a light blush on her cheeks.
Oh, Remus will eat this up.

The Severus Snape of the magical world—the bat-like man dressed in black robes who forced himself to perfect a London accent, nearly giving Lucius Malfoy premature baldness from the stress of polishing it. The man who’s a genius, an intellectual, a master of Potions, a professor at one of the best magical schools in the world. Feared by many, respected by others. Indifferent to no one.
And then there’s the Severus Snape of the Muggle world. The one who spends his summers at Spinner’s End. The one who hasn’t bothered to buy new Muggle clothes in fifteen years and wears the same worn trousers, the frayed black jumper, and the faded grey shirt that oddly fits looser every time because he’s getting thinner. The one who only leaves the house for a pint to forget that his life is miserable, and who speaks like the foulest-mouthed miner from the North—because you can take the boy out of the neighborhood, but never the neighborhood out of the boy. And there, he isn’t a professor, or a genius, or a spy; he’s just the guy who knows as many swear words as he’s written potion recipes.
