Munday Thursday meme!
Tag nine people you want to get to know better! Do the meme if you want to!
Favorite color(s): Jewel tones, especially sapphire blue, navy, blush pink, burgundy, and all sorts of neutrals. Soft colors are welcome too. Not a fan of brights/neons.
Favorite flavor(s): Tea, champagne (Sugarfina’s champagne gummy bears are the best), fresh strawberries, penne alla vodka, spaghetti carbonara, chicken tikka masala, rose-flavored macarons, Korean BBQ, red velvet cake, a fresh croissant, cannoli, a traditional afternoon tea set somewhere bougie like The Ritz and/or Claridge’s, baked macaroni and cheese, and chocolate. Yes these are all flavors do not test me.
Favorite genre(s): historical drama, historical romance, romance, horror, drama, thriller, and some action and comedy. Basically: give me a costume drama and I’m usually happy, unless I see glaring outfit inaccuracies.
Favorite music: Uhh...something pop/rock/oldies/pop goes classical/soundtracks go here.
Favorite movie(s): Dead Poets Society, Shakespeare in Love, Good Will Hunting, many things starring Grace Kelly or Audrey Hepburn, most Jane Austen adaptations. For animated: Beauty and the Beast, Lilo and Stitch, Howl’s Moving Castle. For pure camp/rewatch value: The Mummy, Clueless, Legally Blonde, The Addams Family + Values. For Horror: R U D E as fuck question. Depends on what I’m in the mood for. Cannot narrow it down to a handful.
Favorite series: Downton Abbey, Bridgerton, A Court of Thorns and Roses/SJM multiverse, What We Do in the Shadows, Endeavour, Outlander, Sanditon, The Great, Danganronpa, Cowboy Bebop, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Rose of Versailles, Lupin III, Mobile Suit Gundam (mostly 0079 and Zeta, with soft spots for 0080 and Char’s Counterattack), Umineko no Naku Koro ni. And for garbage taste background noise: Gossip Girl, Emily in Paris.
Last song: I don’t care that it’s like six months too early I am hype dammit
Last movie: History of the World: Part 1 rewatch in anticipation for Part 2. But Scream VI tomorrow finally! And after that, the Luther movie at some point.
Currently watching: The aforementioned History of the World: Part 2 (roughly half the skits were great, half were painful), The Last of Us, The Mandalorian, What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim? (as I just found it on Hulu and loved the webtoon), Sanditon, Call the Midwife, Marie Antoinette, Tom Jones, Call My Agent! (I need to watch 10 Percent too, but CMA is on Netflix and has Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, which is who I want to be when I grow up).
Currently working on: Oh, a constant mishmash of replies, researching costumes for my conventions this year (one of my local friends is revamping her Despair!Kazuichi for a con and is giving me all the more reason to bring Despair!Sonia back out again, even if I wore her last year at this event. We wish we had a Gundham!), work, absolutely losing my shit with Jennifer L. Armentrout’s From Blood and Ash getting picked up by Amazon before we’ve even seen an ACOTAR finalized script/casting/anything from Hulu (ACOTAR > FBAA by a long shot. Heck, give us the Throne of Glass series we were promised!), prepping for cooking date with the husband on Saturday (we’re making a tomato-based chicken curry full of veggies with white rice (his) and shirataki/konjac rice (mine).
Tagged by: Tagging? We don’t need tagging. I stole it like the Straw Hat Pirate I am (no really I was big into One Piece like 6-7 years ago with offline friends. Still have costumes sitting in my closet that I should sell)
Tagging: Hey you! Yes, you! Do you want to do the Really Cool Thing all the kids are doing and avoiding your drafts with literally Anything Else On The Internet? Then I’ve got exactly what you need! This meme.

My third and final Roman Empire is how much Lilo and Stitch enforces the importance of Ohana- and how you will be MISERABLE i f you don’t have it that great or even at all.
This is about a 10-15 minute read. I worked hella hard on this, but if you want to skip it, you can scroll to the bottom where I summarize it all.
Starting off with Lilo. Lilo was absolutely miserable in the first movie. She was insecure and a brat. She was insecure because she did not have that parental love she needed- all she had was sisterly love and support. That isn’t enough for a developing child. She seeked validation from kids her age- Myrtle, Elena, Yuki and Teresa. Since they were miserable to her, it made her even more of a brat. A lot of the people in the town treated her differently. Her trauma was making her so weak and insecure while simultaneously making her aggressive and bratty. It was taking a toll. She’s literally seen making a wish for a friend that won’t leave her.
However! After she met Stitch, she had somebody she could relate to- because HE was treated differently too, when all he needed was an Ohana.
That brings us to Stitch! Stitch couldn’t help that he was aggressive. He couldn’t help that he was different from every other creature around him. He couldn’t help that he couldn’t behave. It hurt him that he didn’t have anybody to relate to. Nobody to call his friend either. How could anybody trust an “evil” and “disgusting” monster like him?
Once him and Lilo met, they found each other so relatable. They liked each other from the moment they met. From here, he worked on his behavior because he had emotional support from Lilo to improve. Even if there were struggles, they both still found friendship. And because Stitch attracted Jumba and Pleakley to go to earth, Lilo’s orphaned childhood came to an end. This is why she isn’t so miserable in the second movie.
Stitch DID have issues in the second movie, but the power of Lilo’s love did cure him- once again, showing the power of Ohana.
However, Myrtle Edmonds did not get this good ending so quick . That’s why throughout the entire show, she’s -if not as evil- nearly as evil as Dr. Hamsterviel. She ENJOYS seeing Lilo suffer. I QUOTE from episode Slugger, she said “I just want to see Lilo suffer.” But what’s the context of these sadistic tendencies?
Myrtle Edmonds has daddy issues. Her mom and dad divorced, and she’s just a little girl. It’s implied that the dad is very bigoted and entitled, and she’s just carrying on what’s left of her daddy. It’s obviously a big issue since her mother spoils her- it’s her way of just getting over the divorce. It’s her way of sugarcoating it. What much can a single mom do? What’s even worse is her auntie doesn’t remember Myrtle’s name. She calls her Maureen. She doesn’t care to go to or even engage in Myrtle’s special events. There’s a reason she’s not in the family picture. If you watch this moment in the episode, you can see that Myrtle has the least amount of family out of all the Hula students.
She’s so quick to call out Lilo for her insecurities- for being orphaned, for how weird she is, for how much of a failure she is. It gets her pleasure because it disguises her feelings towards her own broken family.
In the end of the Leroy and Stitch, the end of the franchise (cinematically speaking), she says that her experiment puppy Gigi wants to get into Lilo’s Ohana picture. Instead of just letting Gigi go, guess who joins in the picture too?
Guess who feels happy joining an honest, supportive, real Ohana?
She was evil because of her own issues.
Speaking of projection!
This brings me to Reuben. I know, I know. He’s not a true villain, because he’s just lousy and sits on the sidelines and eats sandwiches 24/7.
Right?
No. This is sadly why he is so easy to dismiss for having genuine deep hurts. He’s probably the most surprising one to have issues.
The lazy sandwich eater has insecurities about family?
His insults are initially funny and are obviously for comedic purposes (it’s a children’s show), but over time, they are extremely degrading towards Gantu. It goes from jokes to genuine projection. A prime example is in episode 28 (Dupe), where Gantu is venting about his childhood after Reuben gave him the ok to do so. Gantu talks about how he never fit in and how people like his dad expected so much from him. Reuben shouts “your life is a boring failure!”
Reuben was so much of a failure to where he was completely disregarded and not given a name, unlike the other 625 experiments. He was completely disregarded and forgotten by Jumba because he was “useless.” He had all the abilities of stitch, even had high intelligence and language programming, but because Reuben wasn’t perfect 100%, he was considered a failure and was thrown away. Didn’t fit in and wasn’t good enough.
He was so irrelevant and disregarded to where even Lilo forgot about him- saying “Oh! I haven’t given you a name!” And you know her. She cares to give every other 625 experiments a name.
Unlike Stitch, he didn’t have a family to teach him how to behave. He didn’t have a family to show him affection. He didn’t have a family to show him what was right and what was wrong- to help him improve.
Can’t go against your snarky programming anyway.
Unless you have the power of having Ohana.
Just like Stitch did.
They both are programmed to be destructive in some way. Stitch is destructive physically, and Reuben is destructive emotionally. They both are freed from this programming via Ohana.
The moment Lilo gives Reuben a name, he stops being mean. You will never see him be mean to anybody ever again. It didn’t even take a real family- unlike every other character.
It took a name.
The one who nearly suffered as much as Lilo was Gantu.
Gantu was the one who spent all of his life with a terrible family life. He spent his entire childhood being pushed by his father to become a highly superior figure. He was just a normal child/teen with a highly authoritarian father pushing him to become something he didn’t want to become.
He finally felt like he was amounting to what his father wanted him to be when he was captain under the Grand Councilwoman. When stitch caused him to get fired, he was so determined to hurt stitch. Not because he was evil and greedy. Because he was so desperate to keep proving himself that he was worthy of something his father wanted.
It wasn’t until he heard about the concept about Ohana that he became good. Reuben explains to him the Ohana concept that Lilo gave to him, and those words changed Gantu’s outlook. Those few words made Gantu permanently good.
Two (main) villains in the franchise were cured by words and a name. Think about that.
Hamsterviel? Haha! Sorry. I can’t figure this little guy out. He’s just pure evil. (Let me know if you can figure him out!)
IN SUMMARY:
Lilo was a brat and insecure because she didn’t have family. However, when she gained family, particularly stitch, she stopped being so miserable.
Stitch was destructive and did not fit in with others around him, and it hurt him. However, after meeting Lilo, learning how to behave and forming an Ohana, he stopped being so miserable.
Myrtle was degrading and sadistic because of her own family issues, particularly daddy issues. However, when she felt the satisfaction of joining Lilo’s Ohana picture, she stopped being so miserable.
Reuben was also rude and insulting because he he was forgotten and considered a failure, and was also never taught how to behave, because of a lack of a family- unlike Stitch. However, when Lilo simply gives him a name, for him it’s considered affection. It’s Ohana to him. He stops being miserable- all because of a name.
Gantu was very strict and ruthless because it is what his cruel father pushed onto him. He worked so hard in multiple jobs to prove to both himself and his father that he was good enough. However, when Reuben introduces the concept of Ohana via Lilo, Gantu joins Lilo’s side and is no longer miserable- all because of words. He joins a non-toxic family.
If I had to put it in a timeline: Lilo and stitch start off miserable yet form a family. Lilo angers Myrtle because she is jealous of Lilo for overcoming her family issues. Stitch angers Reuben because he is seen with a family, meanwhile is so forgotten because he is that much of a failure. However, once Myrtle sees all of cousins at the fight, she feels included. This is why she wanted to join the picture with the cousins at the end of the movie. Also, when Lilo gives Reuben some affection, he passes that onto Gantu- a broken character with daddy issues. Gantu and Reuben, the two villains, become good because of Ohana.
Hamsterviel… uh….
I have two Roman Empires. They surround Reuben and Gantu. (Third one is in the reblogs!)
My Roman Empire is how Reuben literally stopped being rude to everybody when Lilo gave him a name. A NAME. From the 65 episodes, all those insults he spewed out… that snarky attitude he gave everybody… all the hurt feelings he caused ended at this moment. You never see him being mean to Lilo, Gantu or Stitch ever again. He literally considers something as simple as being given a name affection.
He went the entire show without a name, just being called 625. Meanwhile, if not all, most of the other experiments had a name. Pretty sure it made Reuben feel that he was irrelevant, forgotten and most of all: failed. Perhaps that's ONE of the reasons he STAYED so rude throughout the show and like for half the Leroy and Stitch movie; the time he was simply a number?
My second Roman Empire is about how Gantu… this intimidating, strict, ruthless guy
...did not like being evil. He was seeking emotional validation.
"Am I good enough?" I can only imagine him asking himself that after hearing Hamsterviel, Reuben or his father's negative voice in his head. I don’t care if Reuben was “struggling too”, he still didn’t have to project so much.
When Gantu got vulnerable with Reuben in episode 28, he talked about how his father was very authoritarian and strict. He also talked about how his peers looked down on him. Can't imagine how bad he wanted to prove his daddy and peers wrong. He truly did try. It's awful because he even talks about how his life would have been better if he would have stuck with his girlfriend. Deep down, being the captain isn't what he wanted. He wanted to live a normal childhood. Sacrificed it, though, all for his dad.
His first attempt at being what his father pushed him to be was under the Grand Councilwoman. However, after the chaos he and stitch had, she fired him. This is why he had such a hate for stitch throughout the entire show. Not because of selfishness, not because he was evil, but because stitch ruined the pathway that gave him that sense of superiority and validation.
Throughout the show, no thanks to plot armor and gags and jokes, he is constantly failing to capture experiments AND is being ridiculed. It's by everybody- Lilo, Stitch, Reuben, random people. Sometimes it's physical, sometimes it's verbal. It definitely has an effect. Might as well be physical and verbal abuse because of how often and harsh it is.
It’s not normal to call yourself a failure because you don’t know where a street is.
There’s this episode where he prefers to be a guy named “Uncle Chester”. While he’s Chester, he doesn’t have to worry about Hamsterviel’s ruthlessness and doesn’t have to be bullied every single episode. He was delusional as Chester but at least he was happy. He pointed out how he was unhappier as Gantu.
But
There is nobody that affects him as much as Hamsterviel does.
I've ALWAYS been asking myself, "why doesn't he just squish Hamsterviel? Hamsterviel is all bark no bite!" Hamsterviel is the most demanding, controlling, manipulating, obnoxious, and most of all- DEGRADING boss that Gantu has had. However…
Could it be that he resorts to Hamsterviel and never hurts him because it's another chance to prove himself to a figure like his father?
He sees toxicity as another chance to prove himself. Doesn’t matter all the suffering he does.
As long as the job gets done, right?
But I mean, hey.
Gantu is hot.

He’s just so in love with her?? Aahhhh makes my brain mush thinking about it xxxxx
happy new year to you too!!! thanks a lot for your request! i hope it’s what you were expecting!! much love and stay safe ✨💖
NCIS, Leroy Jethro Gibbs x Reader.
Being you
“Male in his thirties, gun shot in the abdomen. He lost conscious on the ride here, lost a lot of blood,” the paramedics announced to you.
As you took a look to the man laying there, all bloody, you realized it was your husband’s team member Timothy McGee. Although he was unconscious, you put your hand to his cheek, you let him know, “Tim, it’s me Y/N. You’re gonna fine okay? I’m taking care of you. Hang in there,”
Before you knew it, you were in surgery, taking the bullet off his abdomen. Tim gave you a big scare on the operating table, when his heart started to race, your assistant was scared it may stop. “Tim! don’t do this,” you took a warning ton, “Your boss won’t forgive me and he sure as hell won’t forgive you,”
You knew you had to think about your patient only, that Tim only should be in your mind but you couldn’t help but to think about your husband. You don’t know what happened exactly, how the gunshot took place but Gibbs must be in the worst state of mind right now.
The surgery lasted longer than you thought since it cause damages into Tim’s stomach. His healing will take time, and he would be out of action for months. As you were putting the last stitch on his scar, your assistant congratuled you as she always does. “Team work,” you smiled at her. You took a look at Tim’s face. He was peaceful but very pale. Once again, you put your hand on his cheek, “You did good, Tim.”
You made sure he was taken safely into the resuscitation room, and walked to the waiting room. You thought your husband would be there, standing and waiting but instead, you saw Abby, Ducky and Jimmy. The lab tech jumped into your arms, not caring about the blood you had all over your blouse, “Is he okay? Is Tim okay?”
“He’s fine, Abbs. Still unconscious, but you’ll be able to see him soon,” you softly smiled at her.
“I knew he was in good hand,” you heard the medical examiner telling you.
You hugged Ducky and Jimmy, before asking. “Where’s Jethro?”
“Chasing the man who did this. Safe to say that one won’t stop by your operating table,” Jimmy awkwardly laughed. Tipical Jimmy Palmer. Of course the man who shot Tim was a dead man.
Your shift was over hours ago, but as long as Jethro was still out there looking for the shooter, you stayed around to check on Tim. You know your husband isn’t a texter, but you kept checking your phone to see if he has answer your text.
Tim’s safe. How are you? And the team? You guys stay safe, okay? Want you to be there when I get home. I love you, J.
The morning rose. Tim was still out. Abby, Ducky and Jimmy made rounds to stay with him. “Doc! Already here or never left?” Your assistant greeted you in the locker room, as her new shift was about to start.
“I stayed with my husband’s team,” you tiredly smiled at her.
“Is his coworker still okay? No complications?”
“All is good for now,”
“You should go home. We got this. We’ll take a good care of him,”
“You’re sweet but I’ll go home when J has. It’s my duty to stay here,”
“Do you have a male version of yourself? Wouldn’t mind a partner like you,”
You chuckled at her words and thanked her for always being this awesome. You heard a certain brouhaha coming from the hallway, and as you rushed there, you realized it was coming from Tim’s room. Abby looked all freaked out at you, “He—he started to convulsed. Do something, Y/N, please,” she begged.
Thank god it wasn’t something too serious. A few minutes later, Tim’s vitals came back to normal and he started to gain conscious. “Morning, Warrior,” you smiled at him.
He was out of it, his body was in total pain but he giggled at your words. “T—Thank you doc Gibbs,” he managed to say.
“Go back to sleep before Abby gives you a lecture,”
He smiled and dozed off.
It’s late in the afternoon that you heard from your husband. Or at least, that Ducky told you he was home. You checked on last time on Tim, gave instructions, told everyone to call if needed and you went home to your husband.
The house was complete dark and you didn’t hear a single sound. Jethro was probably exhausted, so you didn’t turn on the lights, only using your phone’s flash. You found him laying on the couch, face buried in a pillow. You sat next to him, softly stroked his hair and when he moved his head to the side, you kissed his temple. “Hi my love,” you whispered. “How are you?”
He turned around and opened his arms for you to come laying on his chest. “Better now,” he said. You could hear his voice was about to crack. You were exhausted from the last 40 hours - your normal shift, plus Tim’s surgery and staying until now. But your husband’s mental health was all that mattered at this moment.
You stayed in his arms for a moment, enjoying the small circles his hand was doing in your back. Eventually you sat up and took him with you. “Hungry?” He shook his head no. “Wanna go into bed?” He did the same. “I got an idea then,” you kissed his forehead, “Stay here until I call you,” Jethro watched you going upstairs and wondered how he got this lucky.
You called him ten minutes later. Unexpectedly to him, you had prepared a bath. Warm, bubbly with candles. Without a word, you helped him undressed and told him to get into the bathtub. He did as told. “Come with me,” he whispered.
“In a minute,”
But first, you offered to massage his scalp and temples. Leaning into every touch, Jethro felt all the tensions for the past day fading away. Maybe all the tensions he ever had even. He doesn’t understand how he got you to fall in love with him. How could a woman like you marry him? He could never understand.
Still leaning into your touch, he repeated, “Come with me, Y/N,” he sounded so needy, you couldn’t refuse this time. You felt his blue eyes all on you as you undressed and joined him in the bathtub. He laid down and invited you to come rest on his chest, but you refused and made him spin around in the bathtub. He heard him giggle as his legs were blocked. You don’t get to hear his laugh often, and it made you fall in love with him a little more. Finally, he managed to spin and laid down on your chest. “What did I do?” You heard him say, as you were softly caressing his arms and chest, playing with his chest hair from time to time.
“What?” You asked.
“What did I do so you fell in love with me? And—married me?” He asked. It sounded like a genuine question.
“It would take me a book to answer this and you don’t read books,”
Jethro gets this. He got a commun point between you too; avoiding serious question about your feelings. So he let it slide. You and him stayed silent until the water got cold. You helped him wash, and so he did for you. Even if he told again he wasn’t hungry, you prepared two bowls of cereals and joined him on the couch, under blankets.
Still, he doesn’t understand. How in the world would a woman want to eat cereals in front of a tv that only has one channel. In black and white. But here you are, drinking your milk and watching the western movie as if it was the blockbuster of the year.
You were watching the tv, and Jethro was watching you when your phone buzzed. It was your coworker.
Could’ve warn me your friend was such a drama queen. He called, claiming he was dying because his stomach was making weird things. He was hungry.
You laughed at the text and read it to Jethro. “I’ll give him hard times if he gives some to your friends,” he chuckled, getting you closer to him and kissing your temple.
“Why didn’t you come see him?” You asked.
“Chased the man who did it,” he paused, “And I knew he was safe with you,”
Perhaps he did, but you could still on his face how worried he has been since yesterday. “Your cereals look like porridge,” you smiled.
“Sorry. Told you I wasn’t hungry,” Jethro said. He put his bowl on the coffee table and you felt his body curling on your side. You finished your milk, put the bowl away and opened your arms so his head could rest on your chest.
“Thank you,” you heard him whisper.
“What for?”
“Being you,”
You didn’t see the tear escaping your husband’s eye.

Yes, I watched Lilo and Stitch a lot as a child, but that was a long time ago. But now that you’ve mentioned it, I definitely want to watch it again. I also watched Leroy and Stitch but I can hardly remember that. But I always liked the Lilo and Stitch movies. 😌
Have a great day/evening/night! And thank you for asking. I absolutely don't mind you guys being curious. It's really nice. :D <3

Let me open this up by saying that I am the last person to defend Disney. I criticize it whenever it does something bad. That being said, with Turning Red, I’ve seen the “Disney stop turning your POC into animals!” complain come up repeatedly and I just...
There are a plethora of valid reasons to criticize Disney for; this is not one of them. For multiple reasons, so bear with me as I go through them.
For one, it generalizes something that’s a non-issue. Because for something to qualify as an issue it ought to have at least some traction. Saying it like this makes it sound like all, or at least most, POC led animated Disney movies turn their leads into animals and that is just not the case. Generalizing like this just talks over all the POC led animated Disney movies that don’t do that, it dismisses and dimishes them.
And since I like lists and I feel like some people need a reminder, here is a complete list of all POC led animated Disney movies, all the ones where the lead turns into an animal are marked bold:
The Jungle Book (1967)
Aladdin (1992)
Aladdin 2 (1994)
Pocahontas (1995)
Aladdin 3 (1996)
Mulan (1998)
Pocahontas 2 (1998)
The Emperor’s New Groove (2000)
Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001)
Lilo & Stitch (2002)
The Jungle Book 2 (2003)
Atlantis 2 (2003)
Stitch! The Movie (2003)
Brother Bear (2003)
Mulan 2 (2004)
Lilo & Stitch 2 (2005)
Kronk’s New Groove (2005)
Leroy & Stitch (2006)
Brother Bear 2 (2006)
The Princess and the Frog (2009)
Big Hero 6 (2015)
Moana (2016)
Coco (2017)
Soul (2020)
Raya and the Last Dragon (2021)
Encanto (2021)
Turning Red (2022)
That is 5/27 movies. And yes, I am absolutely counting sequels too, because they are still also POC led animated movies. But even if for some reason you were to discount them, that’d still be 4/16. That’s not even remotely a high enough percentage to talk about a concerning pattern and they are spaced out enough that you also can’t say that it is a currently coming up pattern because yes, 5/27 would be concerning if said 5 were all the most recent ones.
There are thirteen years and six different POC led movies between this one and the last one. Thirteen years is an entire generation; and I do mean literally, because someone who was a preteen/early teen when Princess and the Frog came out would now be old enough to watch Turning Red with their own young child. Thirteen years are indeed a long enough time between two things that you can repeat a trope.
Which brings us to the final point: Turning into animals is an incredibly popular trope. Disney banks on fairy tale and folktale adaptations and fairy tale-esque stories.
It is so popular that I know five different fairy tales - not variations of the same story, but actual different stories - about people turning into frogs. Just frogs. Five. Because turning people into animals is a concept humans have always been obsessed with, a theme that can be found in most cultures, in mythology as well as fairy tales and folktales.
Disney is going to keep making movies about people turning into animals, because it’s a huge trope. It bothers you that they’re POC led, so... would you rather they make these movies with a white lead instead? Because these movies will keep happening.
This generalization irritates me because it diminishes all of the really amazing POC led animated movies Disney has made at this point. Yes, Disney’s not perfect, I am sure that Disney’s representation of POC isn’t perfect, but Coco ist the best Pixar movie in existence and Big Hero 6 and Moana were absolutely awesome, just to stay within the thirteen years separating this from the last movie that turns a POC lead into an animal. These movies don’t deserve to be treated like they don’t count just so you can be upset about a trope being used in a movie...

ok so i finally am posting art after what feels like a millon years to me (really its been a few days) im sorry anyways i think i found a new intrest i watched all the lilo and stitch films recently and started watching the show and i fell in a hole so i guess im stuck here for now anyways (i said that twice shit) im gonna review and rank all the movies so if u don’t like long ass posts then skip this - - 4th place Lilo and Stitch 2: ok i actually like this movie its quite good for a disney sequel but i prefer the other movies over it im not explaing the plots for any of these cause spoilers but with this movie i didn’t laugh as much as when i watched the other movies i actually cringed quite a bit but a thing i really liked was stitch’s character arc (idk what word to use) it was really well done and i actually really related to him a lot other than that its a alright sequel but i prefer the other movies - 3rd place Stitch the Movie (the pilot to the show): this one was a solid pilot to the show i remeber laughing more at the jokes and the absurdity of the movie it self (and also rueben and gantu they were the highlight of the movie) my only real complaints are that i wish it was longer (its like a hour and feels slightly rushed in some places) and the animation took a hit cause its a pilot to a tv show (i do like that they still use water color backrounds there nice) other than that a solid pilot to a solid show - 2nd place Leroy and Stitch (the ending to the show): i don’t know what to say this was the best sequel out of all of them the story is really good and i like the themes of having to let things go (and nani’s analogy about aloha meaning hello and goodbye was really good and stuck with me) i nearly cried during this movie for some reason idk its a solid ending to the series idk what else to say its a pretty good ending - 1st place Lilo and Stitch: no big shock that i absolutly LOVE this orignal movie i already talked a bit about it in my ranking favorite disney movies post (which im putting lilo and stitch as the number 1 favorite and hercules in number 2 cause idk i just love this movie sm) but i wanna talk about it more and why this movie is a masterpeice first off lilo and stitch have such a amazing friendship it makes the movie and whatever antics they get into so enjoyable to watch and second this movies themes about family are so well done and handled in a mature way and its great and the characters are amazing and so well writen i really like nani and her struggles and relationship with lilo is so good getting into spoilers (i guess) that scene with lilo and nani on the hammock and nani singing is so great and all ways gets me so hard anyways this movie is amazing and u should watch it cause it has great themes and animation and writing and etc i LOVE this flim. - so thats it thats the end of my review took forever to do but whatever i love this series of movies so much maybe i’ll cover the show if i ever finish it idk and i your reading this your awesome :)

To be honest with you, what’s the reason why I became obsessed with crossover for Timon and Pumbaa in any multifandom. It all started when I was a kid, I watch some TV and this is where I have autism. I really love The Lion King so much because I was introduced by my parents since I was a baby. Here’s my top ten multifandom for Timon and Pumbaa.
The Land Before Time: When I watch an animation dinosaur movie, I was talking to myself in my imagination and I thought it would be funny since Timon was stalking by Tyrannosaurus Rex from one of its episodes “Timon Alone”.
Lilo and Stitch: Ever since I saw one of the commercial on TV, it was when Stitch took over and replaced Simba. After Rafiki holding Stitch in the air, Timon and Pumbaa made cameo and says “Hey, that’s not Simba”. When Rafiki looked up and see Stitch. He was shocked as the animals started to get panicked and ran off as Rafiki dropped Stitch. Now that Stitch has become a popular character, he made a cameo in any Disney franchise including “The Lion King 1 1/2” and “Timon and Pumbaa: Virtual Safari 2.0. Later on when I was watching “Leroy and Stitch” in the final battle when one of my sister spotted Timon and Pumbaa in crowds of Stitch’s cousins and I was surprised.
Digimon: When I looked on the internet, it got me attention when someone made a crossover between The Lion King and Digimon by Xavier Antonio. We became friends since I joined Disney Fanon Wiki and he promoted me as an administrator. That’s when I started to make my own fanfiction story back in 2014 and I successfully made four chapters, but unfortunately my first fan story was on hold because I’m out of idea. So that’s when I have decided to rewrite my fan story when I get my new computer.
Phineas and Ferb: Ever since I started to like Phineas and Ferb because they have so many songs and funny moments. By the time when a special episode called “Where’s Perry” premiered, Phineas, and Ferb went on their vacation trip to Africa with Candace, Isabella, Baljeet, Buford, and their parents. But sadly, Perry has to stay behind by pretending to be sick because Doofenshmirtz is up to his old tricks again to be more smarter than clumsy. Back in Africa where it shows all of the animals in the savanna including lion, elephant, giraffe, and warthog?! There were some warthogs in that scene and they reminded me of Pumbaa. Speaking of which, that’s when I started to became obsessed with crossover and I went to PnF Fanon wiki where I made some pages for Timon and Pumbaa meeting Phineas and Ferb. Some users like this, but some others they aren’t interested. But luckily, there was this person from DeviantArt had been following my footsteps and started making a fan video for Phineas and Ferb in The Lion King, but it didn’t worked out on YouTube.
Sleeping Beauty: This is the only character that I was obsessed for crossover which is Maleficent. She made a cameo as a dragon in one of Timon and Pumbaa episodes called “Guatemala Malarkey” when she rises from the trap with fire all over. Coincidence, I think not!
Pokémon: When I looked up on DeviantArt to search Disney in Pokémon and that’s when I looked at the art and see Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa as Litleo, Watchog, and Pignite. I really love Pokémon since I was a kid and when Pokémon was relocated from Cartoon Network to Disney XD back in 2016.
Gravity Falls: I started to like to watch Gravity Falls since my younger brother is watching on TV. It got me idea when I decided to make a crossover between The Lion King and Gravity Falls, but unfortunately I had to rewrite two of my stories because I started to make no sense. Don’t worry, I’ll figure something out when the time is right.
Jurassic Park: I remember when I looked up on Google to search for it’s logo and that picture was hilarious. Back in 2015, I made my own video where Timon and Pumbaa distract the Raptor Squad from “Jurassic World” when he dressed up for hula and I uploaded on YouTube. I’ve got a lot of views and everybody loved it!
Tarzan: Ever since some people made a crossover between The Lion King and Tarzan since they’re both from Africa, I looked up on DeviantArt where a photoshop artist made a friendship bonding for Tarzan as a child with Timon and Pumbaa. I also read one of the fanfiction where Tarzan was raised by lions instead of gorillas.
Amphibia: Finally, the one and only best cartoon series in 2019. It all started when I was watching Disney Theme Song Takeover on YouTube, I started to pretend when Timon and Pumbaa are taking over theme songs for Ducktales, Milo Murphy’s Law, Tangled Series, and Amphibia. It was when I started to make a fanfiction crossover between The Lion King and Amphibia in three separate ways.
One is for “The Calamity War” an alternative universe where Anne and the Plantars ended up being transported back to earth, but instead of highway traffic, they ended up on Toontown where they encountered with Mickey and his friends. During for season 3, that’s where I’m going to add the part where Timon and Pumbaa sings Hakuna Matata to Anne, Sprig, and Polly when they gotta put their past behind them since Newtopia. Later on, Timon and Pumbaa will join Mickey and Anne’s team to stop King Andrias invasion.
The second part is another alternative universe called “Animorphia” where Timon and Pumbaa have discovered two magical stones that can turn themselves into humans from an ancient temple. Later on they went to Los Angeles for spending so much fun together until they have found a five year old girl, Marcy Wu who ran away from the orphanage due to some bullying. They brought her back to the orphanage and they’ll come over to visit her everyday. By a week after their visit, they decided to adopt Marcy and became family. Timon will be her adopted father and Pumbaa will be her new uncle. 8 years later on Anne’s birthday, Marcy is hanging out with Anne and Sasha at her house for birthday plan. When they played truth or dare, Sasha dared Anne to steal the music box from the attic since Marcy accidentally spilled the beans to them. Once Anne was forced to steal the music box, she put it inside her backpack until they went to her house for her birthday party. Later that evening after the party, they went outside to her backyard and open the music box when it magically transport them to the world of Amphibia. For Timon and Pumbaa, they discovered that the box was stolen until they realized that the girls took it for what they didn’t know that was magic. Could they keep searching all night for finding the girls? Or they will forced to go to another world to find the girls and bring them home?
And now for the third part of alternative universe where Timon and Pumbaa have travel around the world and make some new friends for over decades from Lilo & Stitch to Phineas & Ferb. They also time travel to the past from the age of the dinosaurs to a magical fairytale. By 2019 in Los Angeles, Timon and Pumbaa have already put out some flyers for invitations to celebrate “The Lion King’s 25th Anniversary”. Later that evening when Timon and Pumbaa were about to get some rest, but they heard a commotion when they looked through the bushes and see three teenage girls looking at the music box. One of the girl on the bench opened the box and it turned out to be something that is magically transported them to another world, but dragging Timon and Pumbaa with them. Once they recovered themselves, they were transported into the jungle with large mushrooms where is called Amphibia and there’s no sign of any girls or the music box. Timon and Pumbaa are enjoying themselves by having so many grubs and some relaxation until they bumped into one of the missing girls, Anne Boonchuy and her frog friend, Sprig Plantar as they help each other out. Together on their incredible journey is to find Anne’s friends and bring them back home.
And that’s for everything. See what I mean when I was addicted to crossover for multifandom like you guys? I don’t know if you guys are busy or not active, but let me know when you ask me or replied to me. Thanks for reading!

Blog Updates: New Patreon Stretch Goals, Patreon Exclusive Reviews, New Story Arcs and Other Stuff
MHello everyone. For those of you seeing this through other tags my name is Jake. I do reviews on here that are usually full sumaries of an episode of a tv show or comic, with jokes and analsyis throughout. I’m doing this post as i’ve recently revamped by patreon a bit, check out VIA THIS LINK if your curious. I also have some other stuff going on with the blog that I thought might intrest the general public and especially you lovely followers. Thank you guys so much. Your support means a lot and feel free to interact with this post and any of the reviews. it’s always a pleasure. Leave your comments whatever. So let’s start with the patreon stuff
You Decide the Next Patreon Exclusive Review!:
Yes YOU will decide the Patreon Exclusive review for May. How? It’s simple: i’m currently reviewing the Lilo and Stitch crossover episodes, the first two this week with the American Dragon Jake Long crossover “Morpholomew” done yesterday, the Proud Family episode “Spats” coming later this week, and “Rufus” (Kim Possible) and “Lax” (Recess) coming next week and the week after that respectively.
As a way to gage intrest in the shows crossed over, and if I should review some of them on their own, i’m going to be watching the notes, and after the first week i’ll record how many a review got. This way the first review dosen’t get an advantage over the last and so on. Whichever episode gets the most votes wins and it’s show will get two reviews: One exclusive to Patreon in may you can check out for just a buck, and one for all of ya in June. So if you want to dragon up, get louder and prouder, check out what the sitch is, or have some recess, keep an eye on my blog and check out the review. Like it reblog, it, both. This is all in your hands. And if this little contest works out I may do another one like it in the future.
New Patreon Stretch Goals!:
For those unfamiliar with Patreon it’s a site that helps creators like me get paid for their work, used by such luminaries as Linkara, Pushing Up Roses and greatest of all Rifftrax.
Stretch Goals are an amount of money I get a month from patreons, that’s readers like you paying me. Even a buck a month would help a lot and help me put out a reviews and LIVE off doing this. But it’s a two way street so in order to entice you lovely people into paying me for doing my job and my passion with these reviews, i’ve updated the tiers, adding a wider and better range of rewards. I’m currenntly up to 15 dollars a month, or close enough that i’ve acitivated those rewards. And if you help me hit these tiers EVEYRONE gets PUBLIC, on here, for free reviews. Thanks to my lovely patreons Emma and Kevin you all are getting reviews of the first 5 Ducktales episode, aka Legend of the Golden Suns, with the second coming as soon as I finish this post. Even a buck helps us reach closer and for your dollar you get access to the discord, exclusive reviews, and to pick a short any time I review a bunch of shorts. And with Goofy’s birthday coming up next montha nd Donald’s after that, now is the best time for that. 5 dollar patreons also get one review as month, with 10 dollar ones getting two. You’ve already probably seen some of these: Kev has used one of his a month to have me review a house of mouse episode every month, and newest patreon and longtime friend Emma is using them to have me review the netflix dr. seuss adaptation “Green Eggs and Ham”. So whatever YOU want me to review I will and you’l lhelp unlock even MORE great reviews. So what do you get if you hit the goals? I’m glad you asked.
We’re up to 15 so next is...
20 Dollar Tier: Ducktales 87 Season 2 Mini Series!: Yes indeedy. Already on the Docket was the Super Ducktales Arc, which introducices the OG GIZMODUCCCKKKKK. But since that apparenlty wasn’t enough i’ve also added the OTHER mini series. While i’ll do super first since that’s the one with higher fan intrest once tha’ts done i’ll also review Time is Money, the time travel arc bringing in everyone’s faviroite scrappy Bubba. So if you want a buncha cruncha retro Ducktales pony up. But that’s not all the disney afternoon I got for this tier.
A Darkwing Duck Episode A MOnth: This one has also been promoted every time I could and still stands. If you like that mind behind the shadow disguise, that daring duck of mystery, that champion of right, then you’ll get one review a month about him, as voted on by you patreons.
Danny Phantom: The Ultimate Enemy: And since neither of these have helped me so far and stepping back into Amity Park made me realize how much I love the series, even if it’s creator is a 80 tons of smug asshole packed into a t-shirt he thinks is cooler than it is. So it only felt right to add the ghost boy to the tier and the best way to kick that off is with it’s second best, and only barely second behind Reign Storm, episode: The Ultimate Enemy! Danny finds his future is imperfect and must battle his own evil self! If you want my thoughts on one of the series finest hours, then help me hit 20 bucks a month to keep making content.
25 Dollar Tier:
I removed the Tail Spin content, though rest assured I will be covering Plunder and Lightning sometime this year. But what I replaced it with is even better.
One Danny Phantom Review a Month: YOu like teen superheros? you like ghosts? you like me slagigng off about butch hartman and trying to make it crystal clear his creation dosen’t wholly belong to him? Then you’ll like me reviewing Danny Phantom. And while i’m already doing that, this goal gaurantees one episode a month, and said episode will be voted on by my patreons. So if you pay for this you’ll not only get your monthly dose of going ghost.. but you’ll get a chance to PICK what it is.
Disney Shows To Movies Trilogy : I’ve decided to make it a tradition for my 15 dollar stretch goals to do a bunch of disney movies. And like with my last batch, which you’ll be seeing in may, i’m doing tv shows that got their own movies, theatrical or otherwise. And this time we’re doing MY generatoin: Kim Possible: So The Drama, the best story in the show’s histroy and the best movie in the Disney Channels! Recess: Schools Out! The suprisingly bonkers unsurprisingly awesome finale to an awesome show! and The Proud Family Movie, another UTTERLY BATSHIT finish to a great show. Lost at Sea and Seconds: This one’s for my scottaholics, fourth part of my Scott Pilgrim retrospective coming this week!. If you like me taking a look at Scott’s quest to punch the fuck out of his girlfriends exes while growing up a little, then if you help me get to the 30 dollar tier, i’ll also take a look at O’Malley’s other graphic novels Lost at Sea, which follows a girl who lost her soul and her boyfriend on a trip with what may be Young Neil’s older sister, and Seconds, the story of a woman with issues growing up who finds the ablitlity to travel through time.. or is it space? And some of you savvier readers my know he has nother comic. Where’s that one? wellllll
30 Dollar Tier:
Snotgirl: I’m saving this one for this tier. Reviews of each collected volume of snotgirl, Bryan’s first ongoing series, all three so far and any more to come about, unsuprisingly, a hot mess of a person, this time who might’ve done a murder. You know instead of defintely did a murder but in self defnese and with a longsword.
Gravity Falls Season 1!: One of Disney’s finest finally on this blog. All season 1 episodes reviewed in some way in some shape in some form. Star Vs Finale Arc!: You’ve heard me bitch about the problems in Tom’s story, and wil lcontinue to. Now see the terrible way everyone elses ends! From an amazing build up to an awful finish, see reviews of Every story relevant season 4 episode from Butterfly Follies to Cleaved that won’t already be covered in my tom retrospective. It’s a road to crushing disapointment, come on inside!
35 Dollar Tier: More Disney TV Adaptations!: Doug’s First Movie! See Doug get really fucking weird in his sea monster based movie with a punch line of a name! Teachers Pet, a great movie out of a show I barely saw! Kim Possible Live action! it’s suprisingly okay! and Recess Taking the Fifth: a compliation movie for a season we sadly never got.
Gravity Falls Season 2: Buillding on the first reward Gravity Falls Reviews will go beyond the first season and finish the job. From zombies, to dipcifica, to ford to weirdmageddon, I’m doin it all.
40 Dollar Tier:
Two HUGE Disney Focused Comics Retrospectives!
Darkwing Duck: In addition to the show, i’ll start reviewing the awesome follow up comic that got me into it. From the start to both finishes: the unathorized crossover finale and the sadly short lived sequel series from joe books, the worst mistake disney ever made that wasn’t racist, before Artemis Fowl said hold my beer. Also the short lived Ducktlaes series because why not.
The Incredibles!: The Family Dynamic! A comprehensive retrospective featuring reviews of the movie, the Mark Waid followup, the sequel that ignores said followup and the incomparable Christos Gage’s followup to THAT movie. Also that wonderfuly awful failed tv pilot bob made that he and lucius did a mst3k of.
45 Dollar Tier:
Disney Flims Lilo and Stitch a Thon: All four lilo and stitch movies, Lilo and Stitch, Lilo and Sitch 2, Stitch and Leroy and Stitch! All the hawaii, aliens and sequels you can handle!
Amphibia Season 1: I’ve done Season 2 as it comes out, i’ll be doing the same for season 3, so help me get here to see the start at least once a month, but two at a time!
50 Dollar Tier: The last one for now. I’ll probably go to 10 dollar tiers after this.
The Owl House Season 1: While I wait for the second season to start so I can cover it, have me do the rest of season 1! The only exceptions are the already covered Enchanted Grom Fright and the earmarked for pride month wing it like witches!
The Two Loves and 87 Mistakes of Mordecai: A regular show romancetrospective, as we go through the downs, ups, higher ups and crushing lows of Modercai’s romantic arcs from regular show. His crush on margert, making his move, moving on, moving on to cj, and then the horrible cluster fuck I’ve talked about nonstop and will again and again as one of the worst romantic arcs in memory as they shot the relationship in the foot head and groin! Force me to relive it all!
So yeah I’ll add more tiers, again probably 10 dollars apart if I get to 50, but given I barely got to 15 i’m not optimistic. PROVE ME WRONG. HELP ME HIT 50.
Other Stuff:
Finally outisde of Patreon, that was the main reason for this, I have news on my various arcs. For one thing i’ll be trying to keep the pace better, so expect at least one entry a month for ones i’m doing on my own time like the tom retrospective, life and times and Scott pilgrims. Ones kev does will be done weekly to keep my wallet afloat.
I also have two more retrospectives incoming! The first is paid for by Kev: I’l lbe tackling ALL THREE SEASON 2 ARCS OF DUCKTALES 2017. After the headache of trying to cram the della arc into three weeks to keep up with the lena one, I decided i’td be better for pacing if I did all three at once and kev agreed to it, if using his patreon reviews to cushion the blows. So starting next month i’ll be covering the Louie, Della and Glomgold/Owlson arcs, swapping between them in episode order. With that I should be FAR closer to having covered every ducktales episode. Granted i’ll still have 17 to cover, but it’ll make that much more managable.
The second comes in June specifically timed for Pride Month. With Scott Pilgrim Wrapping up in August just in time for the movie’s anniversary, I decided to start covering another one of my faviorite comics of all time. It’s time to transform, roll out and make this precoius it’s Transformers More than Meets the Eye! For those of you unfamiliar it’s an idw comic that follows a rag tag group of transformers, about half of them gay or gay coded, on a mission to find the lost knights of cybertron and bring ballance to a post war cybertron.. which quickly devloves into hyjinnks with a side order of heartrending deaths and charcter development... and references to dexy’s midnight runners.
So that’s all for now. thank you for reading, please support my patreon as the next pay term is at the start of next month, so if you want me to start on any of those stretch goals, nows the time. Please help me earn a living and until all are one, i’ll see you at the next rainbow.

How would you say the continuity for the franchise would be? Neither the movies, show, or even anime have a good timeline to set their events within. The show and anime basically have no connection between their episodes as well. Would your hypothetical Stitch and Ani be similar?
This is a fantastic question. ArtistIssues and I have hashed it out together before, actually. We believe the continuity of the shows (Lilo and Stitch: The Series, Stitch and Ai, and the Stitch! anime) and films (Lilo and Stitch, Lilo and Stitch 2: Stitch Has A Glitch, Stitch! the Movie, and Leroy and Stitch), as well as the Experiment 626 video game are all connected and do have a continuity that can work (especially if you ignore really poor writing choices in the anime, which is necessary 90% of the time you're watching it, really, because the Japanese dub was operating as if what happened with Yuna was an AU, not a continuation, while the English dub behaved as though it was all very awkwardly tied together).
THIS WILL BE LONG! Read more under the cut.
[[First let me say, since you asked if Stitch and Ani would hypothetically be detached, the answer is no because: Stitch and Ani is set up in such a way that it can be connected to the anime (and is without question definitely connected to the series and previous films), but it can also be disconnected from it. There is, for all intents and purposes, no Yuna in Stitch and Ani; we don't even mention her. There's nothing to indicate the Experiments ever left their One True Places, or that Hamsterviel broke out of prison, or that Gantu was fired a second time because of karaoke (yuck). In fact, none of that is canon in Stitch and Ani. We can still say that Lilo and Stitch had a falling out when she went to college. We can still say, too, that Stitch and the others left for a while, but maybe they didn't end up in Japan. If it were a proper show on Disney+ or something, that's probably how it would go. No ties to anything but the first half of the franchise, which ended with Leroy and Stitch.]] "How would you say the continuity for the franchise would be?" Well! The continuity for the franchise, as far as we can tell, seems to go like this:
0. Experiment 626 Video Game
1. Lilo and Stitch 2. Lilo and Stitch 2: Stitch Has A Glitch [note: Lilo is said to be 7 in this film; therefore this film takes place either one year or two years after the events of the first film, which is why the house seems like it's not fully built/everyone isn't in their permanent rooms yet if you look closely]
3. The Origin of Stitch short
4. Stitch! the Movie 5. Lilo and Stitch: The Series [note: Lilo would be 9, going on 10, by the end of this film, which is jarring but her voice definitely shows it, plus the characters repeatedly say that the events of the series took up 3 years of their lives] 6. Leroy and Stitch 7. Stitch and Ai [many things point to this series having taken place soon after Leroy and Stitch; particularly the dialogue between Jumba and the Galactic Federation council, the Grand Councilwoman stating that Stitch had been allowed to live on Hawaii for "many years", but all his flashbacks include Lilo still being a child, so it can't have been far off from Leroy and Stitch. Also, the show is meant to have happened briefly, with the plan being that Stitch would eventually return to Hawaii with Ai's help] 8. Stitch! anime [note: Many people are okay with thinking the anime is non-canon and none of it happened, and I'm one of them, though you can't for sure find a direct quote from Chris Sanders discounting it. So for the purposes of fairness and inclusion I'll proceed as if it is, in fact, canon] 9. Stitch and Ani Now, I know the majority of the things in the anime just don't make sense in terms of continuity, and for those things, you sorta just have to...either ignore them? or decide that it all has to do with the black hole Jumba and Stitch got sucked into in the pilot episode. Jumba says, almost as a covering-all-your-bases kinda thing, that it could spit them out anywhere in time or space, "even alternate universe". [That actually plays a slight role in Stitch and Ani, too.] As for Stitch and Ai, the biggest continuity error I can find is Stitch having some OP new ability. Which is fine, because it can easily be shut down later. Stitch Has a Glitch is harder, specifically because Pleakley goes to the beach with David in it, and if this is to take place before the series (it clearly is, for so many reasons) then it wouldn't make sense in Stitch! the Movie for Pleakley to say at the beginning that it's his "very first day at an Earth beach". Actually, that just makes no sense for any of the things beforehand, because in the first movie he's on the beach at least twice. So. Silly writers! Also, I know the house doesn't look right in the second film if you compare it to what it is in the series, but it's easy enough to just observe and realize that they're all kinda still figuring out where everyone goes in that house. ((I can write more on this in another post if you want, and probably will, so keep an eye out.)) Experiment 626 isn't too tricky to explain, either, even though it seems that Stitch Has a Glitch kinda made it obsolete. But ArtistIssues can provide details on that! As for Stitch and Ani, it works completely whether the anime/Stitch and Ai are canon or not. All you have to do is say that Lilo went to college, got a boyfriend, married him, had a kid, and at some point during the end of her college time, she and Stitch had a misunderstanding and he left. And Jumba went to get him and never came back, and Pleakley had already left on a research trip earlier that year. So that's not hard to say, no anime needed! For years they were separated, until one day Ani and Lilo run into him purely by chance and they're all reunited. And then Stitch and Ani truly begins. It's easy! You get all the flashbacks and characters' emotional development without having to mention Yuna or Ai or any of the spinoffs. So that's how I think it all works!

Stitch Day Special: Lilo & Stitch
In case you’re finding this post just by browsing the tags I’ve used for this post, this is the Watch-a-Thon, a blog where I’m hoping to watch an episode of a show every one-to-two days, with a short blog post where I give my thoughts on what I’ve just seen. Each new point starts with a hyphen and a bolded first word.
- Like so.
But today? Well, today I’ve got an extra-special post in the wings about a movie, one of my favorite Disney movies, starring my absolute favorite Disney character: Lilo & Stitch!
- I like the variation on the Disney logo. That is the kind of stuff that they just couldn’t do with their new big fancy CGI logo.
- No clue why Jumba tried to deny that he created an experiment. I don’t much mind since it led to a funny joke, but c’mon, evil genius, you should be smart enough to plead guilty.
- “I would never, ever... make more than one.” *glances meaningfully in the direction of the series*
- “What is that monstrosity...?” He’s a cute widdle fluffball, that’s what he is!
- “Meega nala kweesta!” Canonically, this translates to “I want to destroy”, but that seems a little lukewarm for the reaction he got. Maybe a looser translation is in order...
There could be an entire aristocrats joke in those three words. The whole script to Batman v Superman. The opening notes to “Never Gonna Give You Up”...
Or maybe just “bitch”.
- Blood work is a lot different in space...
- Weird to imagine given the rest of the franchise, but Gantu was once a respected captain of the galactic federation.
- It’s easy to perceive Stitch as a dumb brute, but he’s pretty smart. He connected the dots all on his own, within minutes of his imprisonment, that if the guns are locked onto his DNA, he can use his saliva to trick them. Jumba wasn’t kidding when he boasted of his experiment’s intelligence.
- And not only was Gantu a captain, Pleakley was an expert on the planet Earth. Weird, innit...?
- “Are [humans] intelligent?” “No.” An exchange that only hurts more with every year.
- Love the implication that Pleakley was just suggesting several different relatives to assist with the capture of Stitch from when they were on the deck up until they got to the prison where Jumba was held.
- Now this is what we (or rather TVTropes) call an establishing character moment. A fish floats by holding a sandwich in its mouth, implying (soon confirming) that Lilo was the one to give it the sandwich, before rushing to the hula practice that she was late for, stopping to take a picture of a tourist along the way.
- And then after she arrives at hula practice, she explains that she had to give Pudge the fish a peanut butter sandwich because he controls the weather.
- No clue why the other girls are disgusted by Scrump. I always wanted a Scrump when I was a little lass.
- “Did you ever kill anyone?” Lilo asks the right questions.
- Nani, y’could’ve avoided this if you’d given a thumbs up instead...
- I don’t get the glare Cobra gives Nani after Lilo says that her friends need to be punished. Voodoo isn’t a failure of parenting. In many cases, at least...
- Licking Nani, growling after her capture, Lilo already has a lot in common with Stitch.
- Lucky that Lilo is such a quirky kid. The scene (semi-)explaining why she takes pictures of tourists was deleted, but it doesn’t feel like anything is missing because she already has a few habits that just plain inexplicable, like feeding Pudge, practicing voodoo with a pickle jar...
- Lilo wishing for an angel because of how lonely she is, that’s a sad moment. But also kinda funny in hindsight after she sarcastically names Stitch’s love interest Angel in the series.
- Lord give me the undisturbed...ness, of that frog who watched Stitch get run over by several trucks and only tilted its head.
- If they thought Stitch was dead, why did they keep it in the shelter? I mean, Lilo would probably adopt a dead dog, but she’s the outlier.
- I like how Jumba programmed, as part of Stitch’s destructive tendencies, an urge to steal everybody’s left shoe.
- You can just about pinpoint the moment where Stitch’s heart drops at learning that he’s on an island with no major cities.
- Just occurred to me that the badness level is red, and Stitch’s evil counterparts in the series (627 and Leroy) are both red.
- Ah, David. One of the best Disney love interests, mostly because he isn’t entirely a love interest. There is a mutual attraction, but Nani just isn’t ready for that with everything going on in her life, and David respects that and is happy to be a friend.
- I like how everyone except Lilo heavily suspects that Stitch isn’t a dog.
- Ohhh, the thought of Stitch having drank coffee. I mean, I’d love to see it, but it’d be Hell for Nani.
- Stitch looks just plain adorable with a lei.
- Well, Lilo, you did tell Stitch he should create something. And he did, he just destroyed his creation afterward.
- Pleakley is a gender-nonconforming icon.
- The first time we see Stitch doing something without even the intention of destroying anything is when he finds the book about the Ugly Duckling. It’s clear that he’s fascinated just by looking at it. And when Lilo explains the story? It resonates with him. Or, well, perhaps he wants it to resonate with him.
- I wish I had an evil koala dog that played records.
- Are we sure that “Meega nala kweesta” means “I want to destroy”? Maybe it means “I was born to dance”, ‘cause Stitch learns about dancing and in less than a minute he’s already an expert.
- I imagine this montage, or slightly earlier, would be when that deleted scene of Lilo trolling the obnoxious racist tourists originally came into play. And I like this scene, but, I do wish that scene hadn’t gotten cut. And I wish that they fully animated it and inserted it into the movie like Warner Bros did with The Iron Giant.
- Nothing cheers me up more than this scene of Stitch and his newfound family going surfing. And especially since Stitch is aquaphobic. He’s very much aware that he cannot swim, and likely wouldn’t survive if he fell off the board into the ocean. But even he eventually gets into the spirit of it, asks Lilo himself to go surfing, and enjoys a nice bonding moment with his family. And David.
- Of course Jumba and Pleakley had to ruin a perfectly sweet moment.
- And so we transition from a heartwarming wholesome moment, to a heartbreaking tearful moment. You can just see Nani holding back tears as she says that she needs to take Lilo home.
As for Stitch, David probably didn’t even realize that Stitch could understand him when he said that Lilo and Nani had a chance until Stitch came along. But Stitch did understand, and he’s visibly hurt by the idea. He always wanted to destroy, but in this moment, he’s ashamed of how he might have destroyed Lilo’s family.
- And the Ugly Ducking metaphor comes back, when in this moment, as Stitch is coming back to a family that he fears he may have ruined, he sees a lone duck... before that duck is followed by a big family of ducklings.
- Lilo says that Stitch cries at night. So, it would seem that even before he completely learned how to be nice, Stitch wasn’t entirely emotionless.
- This whole act of the film is heart-wrenching. First Nani gets confirmation that she and Lilo will be separated, then Stitch starts to fear that he may have caused it. Then because of that? Stitch leaves, taking only the Ugly Duckling book with him. And he can only see in himself the page of the Duckling, lost and crying.
- Then Jumba tells Stitch, who’s already in a bad place emotionally, that he was made to destroy, has no family, and could never have one.
- I don’t want to think about what happened to that chainsaw.
- There’s a certain feeling that comes up in the middle of this fight scene, where you realize that a house is being destroyed, a house belonging to a family that was very much at risk of separation. And you realize that this will only hurt their case beyond any repair.
- If the past day hadn’t been bad enough, Stitch is told by his best friend Lilo that he ruined everything, and to get away.
- And so Nani really does have her sister taken away. Now, taken away by aliens is a lot different than taken away by social services. It’s worse. This way Nani knows that Lilo definitely won’t get a loving family, and Nani will definitely never see her again.
- The confusion is visible on Jumba and Pleakley when Stitch goes and comforts Nani with a quote about family. All they know about Stitch is that he was made to destroy. And then, once he’s captured, he does just about the opposite.
- “Ih.” To this day I sometimes say Ih on reflex when asked a yes-or-no question. Guess I watched this movie way too many times as a kid, huh? ...I regret nothing.
- Originally, the big red plane-looking thing was supposed to just be a plane, and it would’ve flown through a city. And it was changed because it was too soon after 9/11. But me personally, I think the big red thing is real cool, and I like it flying through the valleys.
- “Stitch is unconscious.” I like that Jumba calls Stitch by his name here. In the series, he always calls Stitch “626″ but his name is Stitch. And I like the rare occasion when that’s respected by the mad genius who created him.
- I want to believe that Stitch dodged that laser for the sake of the frog he was holding more than for his own sake. Stitch is strong enough that a few moments later, he survives an explosion of a whole truck that he’s lying on top of.
- Stitch proudly calling himself “cute and fluffy” is another thing I just love. Might be reading too much into it, but I like that he can call himself by those descriptors and still have total confidence in his ability to kick Gantu’s patookie.
- My favorite scene in the movie, and the scene I took the picture from.
Stitch corrects the Grand Councilwoman about his name. And when he’s told that he needs to go in the ship (the implication being that he’ll be punished like he was meant to be at the beginning), he doesn’t rebel or try to escape. He only politely asks that he be allowed to say goodbye.
He explains that his family is “little and broken, but still good”, both explaining it to the councilwoman and reassuring Lilo and Nani.
This is the ultimate display of how Stitch has grown. And he grew because, despite what Jumba said, Stitch could find, and did find, the one true place he belonged: With a good, loving family.
- The Grand Councilwoman is clearly remorseful that they’ll have to separate Stitch from his family, but she can’t bend the law for this one case. And she doesn’t, but it just so happens that, legally speaking, Lilo owns Stitch. And, well, what self-respecting Grand Councilwoman would steal a child’s property?
- A lot of people (including middle-school me) say that the stuff with Stitch and the aliens get in the way of the story of Lilo and Nani. I disagree. These two stories are intertwined, both about people wanting to stay with the family where they know they belong. I just couldn’t, at all, imagine one without the other.
- Now this is the kind of ending I love. It’s become common for animated movies, sequels in particular, to end on the two main characters getting separated. But here? Stitch is now a definitive part of the family, and won’t be separated from them anytime soon. Anime? What anime?
FINAL THOUGHTS:
I guess I’ll be doing this on the rare occasion I cover movies...?
Anyway, this is a great movie. A modern classic. And one of very few things that doesn’t just hold up from when I was a kid, it gets better. When I was a tiny kid, I was only interested in the space aliens. When I was in my early teens, I thought the aliens were kiddy stuff.
But nowadays, I can truly appreciate it. I can appreciate how both aspects are vital to the movie. Lilo and Stitch are both equally important. You can’t have one without the other.
And most of all, I can appreciate the story of Stitch (as well as Jumba and Pleakley) finding a family, and Lilo (as well as Nani) saving theirs from being torn apart.
Lilo & Stitch brings me to tears of both joy and sadness every time I watch it. And I guarantee I’ll be watching it many more times in the future.
...Does it still count as a Stitch Day special if I’m posting after midnight? No, probably not. I thought I’d only take two hours, then I took four and a half. Guess that means I had more thoughts than I thought I did!

so @nartatoalevy and i did a little quarantine project. we started this back in april, and it’s taken us until now to get all the data compiled!
click on the images for better quality.
image descriptions under the cut.
[ID: 14 images of black text on a white background.]
[ID 1 of 14: a definitive ranking of all disney direct-to-dvd sequels. we watched them all so you don’t have to. by tumblr users levy (@nartatoalevy) and rian (@pastelvampyre)]
[ID 2 of 14: What Quantifies a Disney Direct-to-DVD Sequel? we came up with 4 criteria for this: 1. the original has to be a full-length movie, 2. the original has to be easily recognizable (for example, all “Mickey”-branded movies are excluded because there isn’t a singular recognizable “original” movie), 3. the sequel’s gotta be a full-length movie), 4. the sequel is direct-to-DVD (ie. it didn’t show in theatres at the time of its release). ok, yeah, technically 5, cause the “sequel” has to be related to the original in some sort of coherent timeline (ie. not alternate universe), which does mean that prequels do count. don’t worry about it.]
[ID 3 of 14: Methodology Part 1. You can skip the next bit if you don’t care about this part. The movies will be judged generally in eight categories relative to the original film: 1. Animation Quality: Is the quality of animation in the sequel on par to that of the original? 2. Voice Acting Continuity: Do the voice actors sound similar to the original characters? 3. Voice Acting Realism: Is the voice acting appropriate to the scene & the character’s emotions? 4. Music & Lyric Quality (if applicable): Is the music interesting? Are the lyrics good? 5. Plot Coherency: Does the plot make sense? Are there any obvious plot holes? 6. Character Continuity: Do the characters have the same personalities? 7. Comparability to the Original Film: Does it do the original film justice? 8. Overall Feel-Good Factor: Does it make you feel content & satisfied?]
[ID 4 of 14: Methodology Part 2. Ranking Scale. A: I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and would recommend it to others. It performed well in 7+ categories. B: I enjoyed this movie. It performed well in 5-6 categories. C: I am neutral on this movie. It performed well in 3-4 categories. D: I did not enjoy this movie. It performed well in 1-2 categories. E: I wouldn't wish this upon my worst enemy. It performed well in 0 categories.]
[ID 5 of 14: Methodology Part 3. we then found the average of our two scores for each movie to find the final score of the movie. they then were ranked in seven categories: Class I: A, Class II: A- / B+ (the cream of the crop), Class III: B, Class IV: B- / C+ (enjoyable but not perfect), Class V: C, Class VI: C- / D+ (mediocre), Class VII: D, Class VIII: D- / E+ (these ones are just bad).]
[ID 6 of 14: The Results.]
[ID 7 of 14: Class VIII: D- / E+: The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2. Class VII: D: Pocahontas 2: Journey to a New World, Tarzan & Jane, Atlantis: Milo’s Return, Stitch! The Movie. these movies are the worst of them all. they didn’t perform well in very many (if any) of the judging criteria, and watching them wasn’t an enjoyable experience.]
[ID 8 of 14: Class VI: C- / D+: Beauty and the Beast: Belle’s Magical World, Lady and the Tramp 2: Scamp’s Adventure, The Fox and the Hound 2. Class V: C: Aladdin 2: The Return of Jafar, Aladdin 3: Aladdin and the King of Thieves, The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea, The Lion King 1½, Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch, Kronk’s New Groove, Leroy & Stitch, Brother Bear 2. these movies are not as bad. they performed decently in their categories, but i wouldn’t watch it again unless i had a specific reason.]
[ID 9 of 14: Class IV: B- / C+: Cinderella 2: Dreams Come True, Tarzan 2, TinkerBell and the Great Fairy Rescue. Class III: B: The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride, 101 Dalmatians 2: Patch’s London Adventure, Bambi 2, The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning, The Pirate Fairy. these movies are pretty decent! they did ok in most of the categories, but they weren’t showstoppers, and they still had some problems.]
[ID 10 of 14: Class II: A- / B+: Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas, An Extremely Goofy Movie, Mulan 2, TinkerBell and the Lost Treasure. Class I: A: Cinderella 3: A Twist in Time, Secret of the Wings, TinkerBell and the Legend of the NeverBeast. these movies were the cream of the crop. they performed well in most, if not all, of the judging criteria, stayed faithful to the original movie, and gave us an enjoyable movie experience. if i wanted to watch a sequel and have a good time doing it, i’d go straight to one of these.]
[ID 11 of 14: Best in Show: TinkerBell and the Legend of the NeverBeast. this movie is brilliance. a showstopper. the music, the plot, the characters, everything is fantastic. both rian & levy cried at the end (& rian isn’t a movie crier, so that means a lot!). RUNNER-UP: Cinderella 3: A Twist in Time. Attached Photo: Movie Poster for “TinkerBell and the Legend of the Neverbeast”.]
[ID 12 of 14: Worst in Show: The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2. don’t watch this movie. unless, of course, your desire is to watch something so unabashedly, hilariously bad that you can’t help but skip through the songs and roll your eyes at literally every single character. RUNNER-UP: Atlantis: Milo’s Return. Attached Photo: Movie Poster for “The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2”.]
[ID 13 of 14: More Numbers. Average Movie Score: B- / C+, Mean Movie Score: C, Median Movie Score: C. The average was found by assigning each category a number value from 1-8, adding them together, and then finding the average of all these numbers. The combined total of all these numbers was 147 points. The exact average was 4.742 rounded, which places the average just slightly short of the B- / C+ category. The mean category was C, with a total of 8 movies in this category. The second-largest category is the B category, with 5 movies. The median was a score of C, just barely (the median being the first listing in the C category). The movies in classes higher than C outnumber the movies in classes lower than C (15 > 8) and are in fact almost double.]
[ID 13 of 14: Conclusion: these movies are overwhelmingly average, but still enjoyable.]

Stitch! The Movie: The ransom exchange
Okay, so someone asked me what my thoughts were on the “I have family” realization for Jumba, and oh boy do I have things to say about that scene!
I need to cover all the ransom exchange scene in Stitch! The Movie to explain what I mean. You see, this is a very important point for both Jumba and Pleakley, because:
Pleakley is radiating gay energy everywhere
It’s a turning point for Jumba’s arc
So, let’s start with Pleakley, shall we?
Pleakley had basically been over the edge since he learned Jumba had been kidnapped. For reference, this is him before seeing his friend on the ransom exchange, and if this face doesn’t scream “don’t have a meltdown, don’t have a meltdown, don’t have a meltdown…” I don’t know what does:
Well, this is Pleakley when he sees Jumba:
And honestly, the visuals are not even the strongest clue here. If you can, go watch the scene, and you will notice the tone that the VA uses is really, really, REALLY specific. Like the only directive I can imagine he got was “react like Jumba is the most important person in the galaxy for you”. Even just the audio is priceless.
When Hämsterviel urges Lilo to choose between Sparky or Jumba, Pleakley is devastated. You cannot see it on this image, but his lip is quivering too. He’s about to cry:
And then the hug happens. We’ll talk about the hug and what does it means for Jumba, but first just pause a second to see Pleakley’s reaction to it. I don’t need to add anything, really:
Have you seen that? Good. Now watch it again, but from Jumba’s perspective.
Jumba is not that expressive, and if you have already seen the series, or Leroy and Stitch, or even Stitch Have a Glitch (even when this one doesn’t happens on the same timeline), this will probably not really seem important to you. It’s just a hug. Sure, Jumba is enjoying the hug, but it’s not like he doesn’t ever hug anyone.
Well, putting this in context at the time this was made and into the timeline… actually no. Jumba have never hug anyone. Jumba had never been remotely affectionate with anyone.
This photo on the ending montage? This is the most you get from Jumba on the first movie. He lets Pleakley and Stitch rest on his legs. That’s it. That’s the only contact Jumba had allowed so far, and it’s pretty clear he have not initiate it:
This is the FIRST time Jumba hugs Pleakley.
This is the FIRST time Jumba hugs ANYONE.
And how telling it is that he refers first and foremost to Pleakley as his family? Oh, that’s juicy material right there. BUT why it’s so important that Jumba is suddenly saying “I have family!” out of nowhere? It’s obvious he has, right?
Not really. For him, at least. You can only speculate what motivated Jumba to save Lilo on the first movie, but as it stands, it seems to be an act of rebellion. The Council is going to arrest him (maybe kill him) anyway at that point, so Jumba doesn’t have anything to lose and he just goes “fuck it, I’m going to help them, who’s gonna stop me”. That would be my interpretation, anyway, considering his chaotic nature. So Jumba settles with them, but in Stitch! The Movie you can see he doesn’t think of the rest of the household as his “family”. Wait, you don’t have to see it, because he literally says so himself:
Well, of course not. We are each one of a kind, you and I: evil genius scientist and evil genius creation. All alone in infinite universe. Sure, you have maybe found tiny adopted earth family: but we have no, as you say, cousins.
Notice how Jumba says to Stitch HE found a family, not WE. He doesn’t think he’s part of the family. Jumba thinks he doesn’t have anyone like him, that is close to him, that cares about him. Jumba is convinced he’s alone in the universe.
Let’s take a second to make that sink in: from Jumba’s perspective, he’s alone. He has no friends, no family, not anyone. He thinks he could die and literally no one would care. Really, let sink how terrible that is.
That’s probably the reason Jumba is so chill with all the kidnapping. He teases Hämsterviel and Gantu, despite having a gun on his head. He does absolutely zero efforts to be helpful, he just doesn’t care if he’s going to die. He knows Hämsterviel is very capable of murdering him and he still laughs on his face. And then this happens:
Again, not family.
When he leaves the ship on the ransom exchange, something changes. All of sudden, he cares about his own safety. All of sudden, after literally inviting his captors to kill him, Jumba decides the “saving my life side” is the good side to be. Suddenly he’s accommodating of Hämsterviel and tries to coax him to let him go. Look at his face, it’s COMPLETELY different from the one he used earlier with his ex-partner:
All of that right after seeing Pleakley.
So that’s why the hug is HUGE. It’s not only the first time Jumba is affectionate with, well, anyone. It’s just the moment he realized there’s others that care about him, that want him, that love him.
It’s the moment Jumba realizes he’s not alone anymore.
From then on, Jumba will be more open, and will slowly build a relationship of trust and care with other people to become the big teddy bear we know and love.
But none of that could have been possible if it weren’t for Pleakley.

Disney+ for Langblrs
Idk if anybody else has a hard time trying to find anything to watch in a foreign language (in my case, Norwegian), but I've noticed that certain movies on Disney+ have a bunch of language options for audio and subtitles, not just English, Spanish, and French. They've got Danish, German, Norwegian, Finnish, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, and Swedish too.
If you're not in the US, a VPN might work. I didn't have any problems getting on Disney+ using NordVPN while I was in Norway.
Unfortunately, one cannot filter movies on Disney+ by available language. But fortunately for everyone else, I've had some time on my hands. So here's some lists I made on my phone like last week of stuff with at least Norwegian + probably all the others languages.
Audio+Subs
Frozen
The Little Mermaid
Wall-E
Cinderella
Sleeping Beauty
Peter Pan
Bambi
Pinocchio
Jungle Book
Mulan
Mulan II
Alice in Wonderland
Robin Hood
Pocahontas
Aristocats
Aladdin
Lady and the Tramp
Mary Poppins
The Muppet Movie
Big Hero Six
Parent Trap
A Bug's Life
Chicken Little
Hatching Pete
Lemonade Mouth
Kim Possible the Movie
Princess Protection Program
Leroy and Stitch
Tarzan and Jane
Dumbo (2019)
The Emporers New Groove
An Extremely Goofy Movie
A Goofy Movie
Home on the Range
Kronks New Groove
Lion King
Just Audio
Phineas and Ferb
Gravity Falls
Kim Possible
Good Troop
Also, over time I've noticed that they keep adding more language options to more and more movies and shows, so this probably isn't an exhaustive list.

Stitch! The Movie (2003)
I’m just not a fan of stitch, and I know that’s going to affect how I view the rest of these movies. I find him off putting and not that likable. I know people love him but I don’t see the appeal.
In the original movie I liked lilo, she was one of the few child characters I thought was really quirky and charming. In this they just made her..weird, and not in a fun way. It’s hard to describe, like she’s weird in a trying too hard kind of way.
I will say I do enjoy the design of the different experiments, I think they’re fun.
I know this was a pilot or prequel to the series but it’s different than like Tarzan and Jane because it’s not just three episodes mashed together and called a movie. It has one cohesive plot and I think that really helps it be better than those other movies.
Best character: Experiment 624, I think he had a name, Larry? Leroy? I didn’t watch the show. But he’s fun, and I like that he makes sandwiches, that’s all he’s interested in, I can get behind that.
Worst character: stitch. I have a feeling he’ll often come up as the worst in these sequels, I don’t imagine he gets much better.
