He's the writer. How can he possibly write the characters "out of character"? He's got a better perspective and understanding of all of them that no one else can possibly have. Just because he expressed doubt in his ability to write them after Joan moved on from the show doesn't mean he actually never had a grasp on them.

I've been having thoughts about the Tommy's Favourite Movie thing. Mostly about how I can see him staying within the 90s-early 2000s problematic but mostly heartfelt and incredibly heterosexual romcom zone. Even after he comes out.

Like, he is aware of queer movies, he's heard of many, he's seen the lists. People who know he's gay always ask if he's seen them when they don't know what else to say. And he's not avoiding watching them, not exactly, he just. Hasn't. A lot of them are just too depressing, too real, too much. He's dealt with enough tragedy in his life and on the job, he doesn't need to wallow in it in his free time.

But the thing is he's kind of more uncomfortable with the idea of watching the ones that aren't sad. Some skittish little animal part of his brain recoils from the idea, curling up to protect itself. Because he's lonely, and he doesn't want a reminder of that. Watching trashy romcoms about people he doesn't relate to doesn't force him to confront anything about his own life. It's mindless fluff, so far removed from his own experiences that he can comfortably spectate.

(And side note, I CAN see Buck trying to do the baby gay gotta watch all the LGBTQ movies thing, only to look up a bunch of lists and realize he's already watched all the ones he'd actually be interested in. He, mostly jokingly, laments to Tommy about missing out on a core part of the coming out experience, only to find out that Tommy skipped that step too. In a different way. A few months into their relationship Buck talks Tommy into watching his first gay romcom because it's something they can do together.)

The thing about the "ACTUALLY this kid show isn't actually for kids" crowd is yes that mentality is pretty ridiculous but also like 99% of the time the reason those people act like that in the first place is cause they're talking about a show that's like, objectively just a really good show and is written to appeal to people of all ages and so they naturally get defensive when people dismiss it and compare it to idk Bluey or whatever. Like yes it's pretty ridiculous to take shows like Adventure Time or Gravity Falls or The Owl House and claim that they're Not Actually For Kids, but I also think anyone who's ever actually watched those shows and given them a fair chance would agree that it's equally ridiculous to act as if they belong in the same category as shows made for literal preschoolers.

How do you think Chenry would be as parents?

Henry at his core is the fun uncle, HOWEVER I think he’s also a major girl dad. Charlotte is amazing at everything. There’d always be the point of contention on Charlotte being the mean one and Henry being the fun one. But I mean we all can see Charlotte also liked to partake in shenanigans.

Charlotte’s also the only person in the show who, in theory, had like good parents/influences (Ray probably taught her at best how NOT to act and that’s all I’ll say about that), so on that front it’d be really rough cuz not only do they have no experience with a child but also Henry’s parents kinda sucked after a certain point! And then his teachers sucked and even his boss sucked! So adult role models he had none.

But again Charlotte is a problem solver and responsible and what not and (to me at least) in a chenry situation Henry would do anything to make her happy including stupid parenting classes and reading books and the whole nine yards.

I don’t think they’d be bad in conclusion. Just a little rough around the edges.

I need an answer why do y'all hate on s7 like it's in vogue here what is going on I fucking loved that season. like hello? I can't decide if s5 or now s7 is my favourite of the show it was that good of a watch to me

I missed the closeness of the scoobies so bad I didn't even realize until we hit episode three and I was aching for it. oh, god. and the spuffy of it all! I can't even get into it right here but ohhhh. oh. and DAWNIE my sweet girl oh sweet niblet I love her so much. anya's episode? probably one of my favourite episodes of the entire show tyvm. I really liked kennedy and honestly I think she made a great second in command for buffy when she actually listened, though I think she'd be a god-awful leader. almost all of the episodes held my attention that weren't, y'know, bewitched bothered bewildered part two electric boogaloo over there. and DRUSILLAAAAAA ik she wasn't real but IDC I was fawning every time she was on screen both as the first as actually her oh I just adore her I'll never understand her and I don't even care. taking it back actually getting into the spuffy of it all for a second because oh my GOD they had an actual conversation about themselves where she neither ran away nor punched him!! and the montage of everyone screwing, only to cut to spuffy simply cuddling? to show THAT'S their intimacy? 'bout fuckin killed me it did

them kicking buffy out of her house and then literally no one saying ANYTHING about how she was RIGHT except spike ofc really bothered me. and gosh the way they just kinda... did buffy's plan anyways. a little different, but not really? still invaded the vineyard when half the reason no one was listening to her was bc they didn't wanna go back that. but that was like the biggest issue I had the entire season honestly. there was no riley to make me furious, 15 minutes of angel that I hated every second of but is so small it's whatever, and robin wood kinda annoyed me once he turned on buffy and spike there but y'know he gets less relevant so pshh. I'll admit I also got a bit peeved at myself every time I smiled at something andrew said but he grew on me wayyy quicker than I was expecting or wanting I get why he shows up in fics so often now he's entertaining to watch

anyways. I'm sure there's like a billion million things I've missed in my endeavor to simply enjoy myself while watching but as it stands? I love this season. I love it to bits and pieces and I think it was incredibly fun. y'all might just be the biggest haters in the world cause I am SO glad I decided to actually give it a go

no literally i am sick of seeing more anti content than actual appreciation videos but the anti talking point i see most that drives me up the fucking walls is that it's "bAd RePrEsEnTaTiOn," as if that is all that queer people are allowed to have; just the vague nebulous concept of "Rep(TM)." the fact that if a straight character is a bad person then it's just that This Character is a bad person, but if a queer character is a bad person then This Is Bad Representation Of The Community And Is Homophobic. can we not just HAVE characters?? vehicles to tell a story??? tools to craft a compelling narrative??? this is part of why Helluva/Hazbin being adult shows is such a THING because i see this get shut down a lot under the guise of "uhh well just because it's an adult show doesn't mean that it can handle whatever topic it wants however it wants" and like. yeah buddy! that's true! and that's not what this is fucking about!! when people say "it's an adult show" what they mean is that it's made to be engaged with under the assumption that you would know better than to take information to shape your worldview and perception of other real life people from a fucking cartoon! the show doesn't NEED to tell you that Um Hey Guys Just So You Know This Isn't Actually Meant To Reflect How All Real Life Gay Relationships Are because you are an adult who should already be able to discern this.

"bad rep" doesn't mean "characters that are nuanced, morally gray, or just bad people." "bad rep" would be if helluva boss was a show that said "the REASON these characters are in toxic relationships / are bad people is BECAUSE they are queer, or at least directly correlated to that fact." which is. you know. very fucking different than "these characters are in toxic relationships / are bad people because they 1) live in a classist society that actively encourages them to be their worst selves and 2) are extremely traumatized."

Hello to the Buddyfight fandom it's been a hot minute but god do i miss this show and have been making fanart for it in the background so i thought i'd post to tumblr too ^^

I swear every year I end up coming back to this show and wishing that it kept going, that it got rebooted, that i could just erase my memories of this show and just watch it all over again from the beginning to enjoy everything once again from Tasuku's own sense of justice twisting against him to Gao's suffering of PTSD and how heartfelt it was handled.

There's something very special about this show that I haven't been able to find replicated elsewhere. It has the most perfect world to exist (so much so that i'd love to be isekai'd into it if i could!!!) and while i have my own gripes with it (hi S3+) i honestly sometimes wish i could go back to my high school years of watching this show just to relive it all again :'D

Anyways!!! I hope there's still people out there who enjoy this show even ten years later who'll like seeing new funny artwork for it!

I wanna add too that i'm hoping to create a rewrite of FCBF (ft. seasons 1-3 + Ace) or at least create more artwork for my interpretation of it and its world!

Because, sincerely, this show is one of the few that, for all its flaws, hasn't disappointed me in the years that've followed unlike many other things i've seen and i wanna try to keep the spirit of it alive while I can thanks to that. And if there are any fans still in existence who love it, i wanna provide some food while its once again in my orbit because damn do i adore this show <3 <3 <#
