either yellow-bellied sliders Trachemys scripta scripta (left) or chinese box turtle Cuora flavomarginata(right)(im leaning more towards cuora here)

->domed shells (espceially like the chinese box for this!)

->both sold as pets (yellow-bellied way more likely since its native-ish and common)

->i heard sliders are very personable (most sliders slip into water if i get within 100ft of them tho so i cannot confirm)

->the box turts are very squort

diamondback terrapins malaclemys terrapin!! you cannot convince me otherwise tbh (but i love to hear more hcs too!!)

->look at the goofy shape of those legs. look at that. just like the 3d models

->spots, swirls, pale coloring(but there are ones that match the color of the brothers better, they arent all pale white)

->flat ovular shape shell that is bulky

->popular pets, typically ppl get more than one at a time, and somewhat native to the region as they live in brackish/coastal habitats (fitting for turts who regularly swim in flooded areas and eat algae and worm based meals for like....15ish years)

->(they would be carnivorous if they were purely turtle btw)(also eating algae isnt really too weird. prolly strange how they do it since they seem to eat it fresh? but ppl eat seaweed and algae based broths all the time; i.e. most stuff in japan actually!)

->pls look at pics of these, theyre so unique as a species, have fun personalities, and look so stinking silly

->oh and dee said one ep that they were either (eastern?) box turtles or diamondbacks. i think they have very little in common w terrapene carolina carolina

->ALL of them look exactly this goofy. they only get GOOFIER with age. spectacular

->so small. please understand. size of a pea kinda creature (only exaggerating a bit). they hatch the size of a coin and reach adult size of smaller than a human hand. i have held one before. this is not exaggerating. i have "medically small" hands as well. (if anyone could explain what my neuromusc doc meant by that btw that would be cool to know. i just know it means i cant reach the enter key on my laptop w/o moving my whole arm over too)

->looks exactly like how i imagine donnies scream would look like if it manifested as a real turtle

->some ppl have them as pets, kinda rare tho. the turts are VERY common in my experience. usually in wetlands foresty environments. if there are some native to illinois i dont see why they wouldnt be fucking around some parking lot drainage pond in new york

->great mixture of looking fat and squishy and also looking like a child growing into their long limbs. good silly shapes

I assume you know so much abt Usagi that when you watch tmnt x Usagi crossovers you complain about any small inconsistencies

oh lmao he's his own guy in every one. but how could i not love him. itd be like being mad at 03 Leonardo for not being a perfect clone of his rottmnt counterpart.

all of the (checks notes) THREE tmnt adaptions of usagi take something about him from the source material and make it their own. '87 is silly, '12 is intense, and '03 is Honorable. and he is, at least, still a samurai in all three of them, which is enough for me. (i know '87 gets his name wrong but it loops back to being funny in my eyes.)

hell, if it weren't for 03 usagi (and by extension katanashipping) we wouldn't be having this conversation. i found out about usagi's existence through rottmnt fanfic (you know despite there never being an official crossover) and it had me scratching my head as to who this character was and where did he come from. none of the fics i perused through seemed to agree either, curiously enough.

i already don't let anyone tell me what a character's like until i see them for myself. because sometimes the loudest people aren't correct--they're just loud.

and so i found the 03 show and then the comics and the rest is history.

One thing I think is funny about Donatello is he is absolutely unhinged no matter which iteration.

Like, yeah Rise Donnie is probably the most overt version of completely unhinged Donatello because he'd chug Uranium and fistfight Cthulhu. And you have whatever is going on with 2012 Donnie and that version of April 😨. But I would like to bring up some of the absolutely hilarious unhinged things some of the other Donnie's have done.

87 Donatello:

-has a personality altering ray that caused so many shenanigans but he kept anyways

-frequently talks about how he wishes he was a regular turtle with no higher thought

-was electrocuted once which convinced him he was Batman then proceeded to try and off Shredder on his own (and almost succeeded)

-literally just makes things blow up for fun

-if at first brains don't succeed, violence is the answer. (he's got a temper than can rival most Raphael's)

-he likes being in jail

03 Don:

-nearly drove himself insane trying to save his dad from cyberspace

-saw some rabbit making googoo eyes at his brother and chose violence.

-also makes bombs and missiles for fun

-Raph's #1 enabler (you'd think it's Mikey but no. Mikey eggs Raph on a ton but no. it's Don. they're the og disaster twins)

07 Donnie:

-bro works IT. That's it. That's the post lol.

I'm not familiar with the comics, IDW or Mirage, so I can't really comment on them. But I'm pretty convinced Mirage Donatello would be a war criminal.

Also Bayverse isn't included because I hate them.

Gotta wonder how many people try to get things pulled out of polls for supposedly moral reasons that are actually just salty about losing. I feel like I've seen people pull this sort of thing (not always allegations, but stuff the creator has supposedly said or done) when something is winning by too much.

i love mutant mayhem. i think one of my only complaints about the movie would be the fact that the turtles appeared entirely as a unit — i can't think of a single scene where the boys appeared separately, except the post-credits!!

the chemistry that they all had was phenomenal, but i wish they had been able to get some separate screentime. that's just hard to do with a movie.

so. i am so looking forward to TOTTMNT giving us episodes that can focus on the individual turtles instead of all 4 of them at once

1984/Mirage: not familiar enough rlly, but probably Leo 1987: Probably Raphael (i see myself in him) or Leo 1990: Tuff but probably Raph again or Leo ^ haven't seen the sequels (well i saw half of the second but i didnt enjoy it so) We will not be discussing next mutation ! 2003: Also tough but Leo and then Mikey 2007: Raph (definitely NOT that Leo jfc) IDW: Leo then Donnie 2012: LEONARDO easily (but i love them all so much). He's my fave tmnt chara of all time actually like i can talk about 12 on and on and on. Like. like lalalala..... i like da way they combine all of the prev leos best traits and make this perfect nardo.... but you gotta ignore erm the whole karai situation to enjoy this character. but anyway all the boys in 12 are pretty miuch S tier if you ignore the romance erm esp mikey like hes lalalallala 2014-2016/Bayverse: Raphael followed by Donatello 2018/Rise: Leonardo but i love them all so so much esp mikey 2019/BVTMNT: Mikey or Leo 2023/Mutant Mayhem: Leonardo methinks But overall if someone asks me my fave ninja turtle im gonna say Leo. for how Alopex and Raph is handled, it’s like. Alopex is a very interesting character on her own she just has a thing with Raph hinted at occasionally on the side. It doesn’t even go anywhere until like 100 issues in so if you don’t like it you can just ignore it LMAO. she’s great I love her
