Behind the Scenes of The Giggle - Part Six Excerpt from Benjamin Cook's DWM #597 Interview with Catherine Tate (with guest appearance by David Tennant)
"Do you know, we went to an escape room with Neil? He loves them. It was his birthday while we were here…” [ Neil Patrick Harris ] celebrated his 49th while filming Doctor Who in Bristol last month. By day, he donned the Toymaker’s tux and shimmied gleefully on the streets. By night, he took David and Catherine out to dinner, then on to Worlds Collide, Bristol’s best – and only – Doctor Who-themed escape room. Players are given 60 minutes to work out how to close a tear in the fabric of spacetime, before the Cybermen break through (the Toymaker has fought the Cybermen!!). “He’d booked it out,” says Catherine. “He’d shut down the whole place [for the night] and they let us in.” “Proper Hollywood,” says David. “Innit, though! That’s old money, that is,” she laughs. “And Jodie [Whittaker’s Doctor] turns up,” says David. “She was on a PA. As if –” “– as if she’s calling you. And there was a scarf. And a sonic screwdriver.” “And a Cyberman.” “A Cyberman head, yeah.” Aren’t Catherine and David… you know, overqualified for a Doctor Who escape room? “I was quite hopeful,” he says. “I thought, these are puzzles I’m going to be able to solve. But then–” “There were chess pieces,” says Catherine, in much the same tone of voice in which Donna once informed the Doctor that Santa’s a robot. “I mean, oh my God! Sorry, but how the hell –?” Neil was brilliant at it, though. “He was annoyingly good.” The Toymaker and his games are quite notorious. “Yes, because then he went, ‘Let’s do another one! We’re gonna do the World War Two room.’ That’s when I came to life.” “It’s true,” says David. “I loved that one. It was great. We were spies and we’d infiltrated a Nazi bunker.” “It involved a bit more role play, didn’t it? Very Toymaker. And zome outrageous ack-sents!” “But after the Doctor Who one,” says Catherine, “it was clear that Neil and David were better at it. There was a clear division between the coulds and the could-nots. So Neil and David went into one room, and me, [executive producer] Phil Collinson, and Charlie [De Melo], who plays… is it Charles Banerjee? [glimpsed in last year’s Christmas Day trailer, rushing through the rain towards Mr Emporium’s toyshop] – went in another room. I’d said to Phil and Charlie, ‘Let’s cut the deadwood and go into a room on our own.’ You do it against each other, and see who gets out first. “So me, Charlie and Phil had a right old laugh,” recalls Catherine, cracking up, “while David and Neil went off and… got out much quicker. Midway through ours, they’d already finished and were watching us scrabble around trying to get out of our German bunker.” She chuckles at the memory. “Then suddenly through the PA comes: ‘DONNAAA!!!’” David says nothing, but he looks very pleased with himself.
Also, from Charlie De Melo's Instagram:
I'm struggling to think of a stranger evening than one, last June, doing a @bbcdoctorwho themed escape room, with The Doctor, Donna and the Toymaker. David and Neil, it turns out, are *very* good at escape rooms. The rest of us, less so. They rushed around the room, picking up clues and turning switches and all manner of other things, whilst the rest of us looked on, utterly bemused (& a little tooty in my case). So on they powered. Leaving us scratching our heads in a room full of disembodied Cybermen ones. Before confusion could give way to frustration, the tannoy crackled. It was David. They'd somehow managed to finish the entire thing whilst we all had stood still where we'd been left. Although he'd lost his lilting, melodic, Scottish brogue. He was now The Doctor. And in the Doctor's voice he began barking orders at us, talking us through the puzzles and guiding us out of whatever wibbly wobbly mess we were in and back to the safety of Bristol. "Donna! Quick! You have to get them out of there, the Cybermen are coming!"

Sonic.exe x reader
Requested over ao3! They requested reader and Sonic.exe playing video games together!
You were getting your living room ready for the day, which would mostly consist of playing video games with your boyfriend, who would be coming by shortly. You set the controllers on the coffee table, looking over your little set up with a small smile on your face.
“That should do it.” You said to no one in particular as you went to the kitchen to grab some snacks. However, when you made your way back, you see the familiar figure of Sonic.exe on the couch, staring at you as you walked into the room, making you nearly drop the items in your hands.
“Dammit, Sonic.exe!” You heard him laugh in response as you set everything down on coffee table, looking back at the demon hedgehog.
“How do you keep doing that?!”
“I have my ways, Y/n.” He shrugged in response, his usual sharp toothed grin on his face.
“Yeah, yeah, are we playing games or what?”
“You do know who you’re talking to, right?”
“Ah, yes, the demonic hedgehog that loves playing games with his victims.”
“Exactly.” You playfully rolled your eyes and sat beside him, grabbing one of the controllers after turning the TV on.
“What did you have in mind to play?” You heard him ask. While you were very tempted to suggest a Sonic game, just to mess with him, you told him,
“I was thinking of a few different games to play. Of course, a couple fighting games, and from there, we’ll just have to see.”
“Alright, alright, let’s get this started.”
“Yeah, and just to let you know, i will kick your ass.” You said, smirking a little as you brought up Super Smash Bros (can be ultimate or whichever one you want)
“Yeah, you keep telling yourself that,” you felt a clawed finger poke your cheek, making you laugh in response.
“Oh i will.” You replied as you brought up the character roster, watching his face scrunch up a bit in disgust as you chose Sonic.
“Of course you would choose that little goody two shoes hedgehog.” You heard him mumble, gripping the controller a bit tighter.
“Just to mess with you…” you chuckled a bit, him shaking his head in disbelief as he chose (your main).
“Oh so you’re going to use my own main against me?”
“Of course, why wouldn’t I? You started this, Y/n.”
“Well, I’m still going to kick your ass.” You then picked the stage and it began.
It didn’t take very long and the two of you were now neck and neck, down to your last lives. He had brought you down to your last life before you could do the same. How was he so good at your main?!
“I’m going to win this little game between us, Y/n, so just give up.”
“No!” You then saw something appear on screen that you had been waiting on: a smash ball. Now the thing is, you have to get to it and do enough damage before Sonic.exe can do the same. You immediately start making your way over to it.
“Oh no you don’t.” You heard him mumble as he also noticed what you were up to. He landed a few hits on it before you got to it, making you a little nervous as you hit him away from it, before hitting the smash ball. Fortunately you were able to get it before he could.
“No!” He did try to hit you before you could activate the final smash, but it was too late. You had activated the final smash. While Sonic’s final smash is a little difficult for you to control, you did manage to do enough damage to take him down.
“Well, that was fun.”
“…ready for round two?” You haven’t heard him say that in a long time, not since you played his game several years ago.
“Oh, definitely.” You then proceeded to bring up another stage, after changing your character back to your main (or staying with Sonic just to mess with him).
A couple hours have passed and you had played through several rounds of Super Smash Bros. And now you were just playing (two-player game of choice) as the sun was setting. You lean back against the couch, a faint smile on your face.
“…thanks for coming over and playing games with me, today.”
“I had nothing better to do, so you’re welcome.” You playfully nudged him in response, him chuckling softly.
“We’ll have to do this more often, you know?”
“Perhaps.”
“I’d rather play these games with you than your games.” You told him in a playful tone,
“You’re just mad I beat you when we played my games.”
“Because you’re a cheater!”
“Says the sore loser.”
“Excuse?” You gave him a look
“You heard me.” He glanced at you, a faint smirk on his face.
“Oh hush, you, and focus on the game.”
“Fine, fine.” You both turned your attention back to the game, but making little comments here and there as you continued playing until it got late.

Hello again! (Gosh am requesting a lot)
Can i please request rottmnt of leo x little sister!mutant turtle! reader?
Request type: fic, comedy, platonic, happy ending.
Plot: the story is about reader who's about 10 years old, of course she's rarely allowed to get out of lair due to her age and her begin weak but god she have such sonic energy, she can't stop running, jumping..etc.
So it's obvious on patrols the brothers have to leave someone behind to babysit her & it's leo's turn, leo was understatementing babysit job as he put reader in living room to watch mlp and went to his room to read a comic book, time pass & he went to check on reader only for her to vanish, leo panic as he go get the baby tracker Donnie made for reader & he found out she's outside the lair.
So leo's job is to find reader, get her back home before his brothers find out or he won't hear the end of it from raph especially.
“Babysitting”
Tumblr media
ROTTMNT - Leo x little sister! Reader
Notes: not proof read, and might have made it unintentionally a bit angstier than I hoped hehe. Enjoy!
“Okay, Leo, it’s your turn to babysit,” Donnie said as he played around with the tech screen projected from his armband, using it to investigate further about the wild mutant activity going on upstate.
“Oh, sure, I’ll babysit” Leo started, inching a bit closer to Donnie “But if you three get pizza afterward without me - I mean us… We won’t be happy turtles.”
“Yeah! I’ll beat you all up!” Y/N exclaimed, jumping to the conversation and now standing next to Leo.
“Uh-huh, sure, okay” Donnie mumbles, still focusing on his tech. Y/N reached up and tugged on the long ends of Leo’s mask, pulling on it to get his attention. When he looked down at her, she smiled, latching onto him and climbing up his form, pulling herself on him and climbing up to sit on the top of his blue shell.
Leo sighed, “I feel like you’ve been getting more and more rambunctious lately, [nickname]”
“Nah, I’m just growing taller” She replied.
“My calculations say at this rate she’ll be as tall as Raph when she gets around our age… but regardless, we should get going,” Donnie said, his tech screen dissipating and looking to Raph and Mikey so they can start heading out.
“Haha, I’ll be taller than you when I’m your age, Leo, you’re such a loser!” Y/N teased, letting go of Leo and falling backward onto the floor.
“Also, don’t forget to set an alarm for 8, Leo, she’s gonna need to eat by then and -“ Raph started.
“She can’t remember for herself?” Leo asked.
“Nope!” Y/N answered “Too lazy, and I don’t have a phone yet”
“Oh, and Y/N!” Mikey rushed over to Y/N, grabbing her face “do not watch the ending of season three without me, I have a sense It’ll be really good, okay? Or else I will not be a happy turtle.” Y/N simply nodded, feeling a shiver down her spine.
“Okay, see ya!” Mikey headed towards the sewer exit first, followed by Raph.
Donnie turned to Leo, “Remember to not let her on the surface, okay? The last thing she needs is to get hurt” He headed out as well.
“Pfft, Donnie can be such a stick sometimes, I know you won’t go above to the surface, especially without me, right, [nickname]?” Leo turned to Y/N.
“Well… Why can’t I go out again?” Y/N mumbled, focusing on playing with her fingers as she now said cross on the floor.
Leo sat next to her, placing a hand on her shoulder, “You’re too young to go by yourself, Y/N… you haven’t had as much training as us, if something bad happens, you won’t be able to hold your own… you know? It’d just be better if you don’t go into the city with us in the first place.”
Y/N continued to look down and just nodded, “Yeah, I get it, that makes sense.”
“Great!” Leo stood up, “Now if you excuse me, I got some reading to catch up on, [nickname]”
“Huh? You’re not gonna hang out with me?” Y/N, looked up at Leo as if the tender moment between them hadn’t happened. ‘Does he really not care…or does he not know what he just said to me?’
“Well, now that the bros aren’t here it gives me some quiet time to read the Jupiter Jim special edition issue where he fights laser unicorns on Pluto! But don't worry, I’ll be sure to hang out with you later tonight, okay? I gotta come out here to make you food anyway” He said, walking towards his room with his hands behind his head.
Y/N nodded, getting up and wiping away some loose tears she tried to hold back, “Okay, that makes sense.. I’ll just watch some My Little Pony then”
“Sounds good, [nickname]!” Leo said dismissively as he locked himself away in his room. Y/N stood up, attempting to swallow away the knot in her throat that was getting tighter. She walks over to the recliner that Splinter was sleeping on, puts the My Little Pony DVDs in, and projects it on the white screen. She sat next to her father’s chair, hugging herself as she sighed, and pressed play.
. . .
Leo grumbled when he heard his alarm for making food for Y/N go off, pulling away the Jupiter Jim comic that was on top of his phone and stopping the alarm. “Okay, time to feed the rascal…” he mumbled, taking off his blanket and leaving his room to the kitchen.
He prepared some frozen pasta in the run-down microwave, food stains, and splatters covering the appliance inside and out. “I’m making some leftover pasta for you, [nickname], Don’t complain about it, 'cause I think it’s the last edible thing in the kitchen” He yelled towards the living room, still facing the microwave as it headed up the frozen dish. He then opened the utensil drawer, “Now, do you want the big fork or the small fork? I know you love your small forks, but they’re all in the sink and I don’t feel like doing the dishes, and it's faster to eat it with a regular-sized fork, right?" He turned around and made his way to the living room,
“Heard what I said? [nickname]?” He didn’t see her anywhere. He looked around for her in the living room where My Little Pony was still playing.
“Tell me that my friends are lying to me and avoiding me because they don’t like my parties and they don’t want to be my friends anymore!” A pink character said on screen that took his attention for a second, growing a bit more tense as he continued his search for Y/N. He checked her room, and all of her brother's rooms, and reluctantly, he checked the sewer opening, seeing it left ajar a bit.
Leo smacked himself in the face, “Why’d she have to go up there of all places! Ugh if Raph finds out…” He races towards his room, getting the emergency tracker that Donnie had made previously in case of emergencies. He checked the tracker, “Where… where is that…?” He looked at the tracker, turning it upside-down and reading the text of Y/N’s location “New Jersey?! How’d she manage to get all the way to New Jersey already?”
. . .
In reality, following the train system, it was only a thirty-minute ride to a university in New Jersey, but Y/N was on the move. She jumped from building to building, albeit a bit clumsily.
“Ah, that wind feels so nice! Ah, and the stars are so pretty!” Y/N said to herself, continuing to run and smile in the process, feeling freer than ever before - the feeling on the concrete on her feet, the wind in her face, the refreshing cool spring air in her face. She stopped on the last building of the block, looking up at the stray stars that peeked through the city smog.
She took a seat at the edge of the building, tightening her loose mask and looking up to the stars. “If only Leo could enjoy this with me…”
“Why didn’t you just say that? That way I didn’t have to go on this wild goose chase to find you, Y/N!” Leo yelled from across the building, trying to catch his breath. Y/N turned around, tensing a bit seeing Leo sweaty and tired from trying to find her, seeing him hold the black device with a purple screen that was glowing light.
“What? You tracked me or something, Leo?” She said.
“You left without telling me”
“You were sleeping!”
“That doesn’t matter, Y/N!”
“You would’ve gotten mad at me for wanting to go outside the lair…”
“I wouldn’t have, I promise. But you know the rules-“
“I don’t like the rules”
“They’re there for your safety, Y/N! You’re not strong enough yet, we-“
“But I made it here all by myself and I’m fine! You guys just…” Y/N sighed and took a seat, legs dangling over the edge of the building again. Leo walked over to her, sitting down next to her. “I feel like you guys make me seem weaker than I am… I can do things too, like cook for myself, go out, at least with you guys…”
“We don’t let you cook because with your speed you spill everything, make a mess, and put a fork in the microwave”
“You guys didn’t tell me it would explode! And you leave all your dishes out for bugs to lick at, you’re messy too!”
“…okay well to be fair I didn’t make that rule, Raph did.”
“And I don’t like that Raph won’t let me do easy things, like using the vacuum and stuff!”
“I think he’s worried you’ll explode that too… we could barely afford a new microwave, [nickname]”
“Yeah… but, like, you guys don’t trust me with things. Or myself. It makes me, um…” Y/N started growing a bit more nervous, the knot in her throat coming back, preventing her from speaking.
“Sad? Is that what you mean?” Leo asked. Y/N nodded. Leo wrapped his arms around her, enveloping her in a tight hug, and she soon returned it, her eyes watering a bit.
“I’m… sorry, Y/N. I suppose we’ve just seen you as our baby sister for too long.. You’re growing up… and literally, too, I sure hope you don’t end up being as tall as Raph, that’s a bit scary to imagine. Regardless, I’m sorry… Why don’t we go home and talk about this with our brothers, okay? I suppose the rest of them, including Raph, need to realize that you’re out a baby anymore. Does that sound okay?”
His sister nodded, and slowly let go of the hug. Leo gave her a soft smile, wiping away the stray tears on her cheeks.
“Let’s go home, yeah? Before our brothers find out you snuck out, especially Raph… He’ll go bananas. It’s a long way home… I’m actually proud that you managed to get here by yourself without getting hurt, and I saw you running, I’m impressed how fast you are! How did you find your way all the way to New Jersey anyway?” He asked, standing up and taking Y/N’s hand in his.
She signed to him as they journeyed home, “I just followed where my heart took me.”

Here’s more of my Boom Shadow rambles
Boom Shadow’s backstory isn’t “dramatically tragic”.
It’s horrific. It’d get the show canceled if it got out. It involves so much death, blood, betrayal, loss, torture, manipulation, and violation of basic rights.
And he doesn’t want to talk about it so he plays more into the edgelord act and pretends to be dramatic when he says it’s bad. It works on most people, but some get even more curious. He doubts they’d even believe him if he told them the truth.
One part of the truth is he’s a war veteran. I doubt he’d be able to keep the secret very long if someone tried to take him to see the fireworks.
I want — no, I need — at least one joke Shadow makes either about his age since he was around at the time of the Ancients (I almost typed “Anxieties” 😆 “The Time Of The Anxieties”) or making a joke about how Team Sonic basically pulled him out of retirement. Examples;
“How long ago were the Ancients around?”
“Around 630 thousand years ago, give or take. This is only an estimate made by researchers, we could be a couple thousand or hundred years wrong.”
“*in a resigned tone* Damn, I’m old.”
“Why did I allow you fools to drag me out of retirement?”
“I’ve been taking care of the Chao for… I don’t know, actually. The remaining Ancients changed into these little guys when they came too close to the master emerald, and I’ve been watching them since.”
“How many centuries has it been since I took up guitar lessons??”
“I really don’t think you’d believe me if I put in my chronological age, so biological age it is.”
“You’d think I’d have dated someone by now.”
“It’s amazing how I’ve lived this long. It really is. With a planet full of idiots like this, I expected them to do something so utterly ridiculous that it kills me a long time ago.”
(If any of you want to write a fic with these, please, tag me or let me know in some way, it’d make my entire week)

SPOILERS!!!!!
SPOILERS!!!!!
SPOILERS!!!!!
SPOILERS!!!!!
I wanna talk about this show (btw pls watch it, it's so fucking good, the characters are peak and the animation is fucking amazing!):
Tumblr media
Episode 1:
-I can't believe they foreshadowed the final boss with fucking Sonic trivia
-Ngl if I asked out a girl and she didn't know anything about neither Sonic or X-Men, I'm dipping the first chance I get
-I was wondering why Scott had the star t-shirt at the beginning, since he only got that at the finale battle with Gideon, to signify his love for Ramona, but with the added context it's not supposed to matter, it's there because it's his most recognizable look
-Matthew's entrance doesn't have the same umph as the movie's. His actor really went all out in that scene, XD
-Sucks that Scott wasn't very involved in this, since he is the title character, but I still loved everything about this. Hope we get to see his arc in the next season
Episode 2:
-Why is Ramona dyeing her hair so damn satisfying?
-Edit: The fact that STEPHEN of all people was the one that gave Scott a euology and was the only one that actually gave a damn XD
And it's pretty sweet that he would have been ok to find out if they sucked, if they found out they sucked together
-"Mommy!" yeah
-I can fucking believe she actually sang that fucking song XD
-Brie Larston is so talented; if I didn't already know she played Envy, I honestly could not tell that was her, but then again I only know her as Captain Marvel, where she has a deeper and much cooler voice
-So, if in the Scott Pilgrim world people just re-spawn at home after being defeated, does that mean that there no one can be murdered or manslaughtered? And if so, how do people actually get a "permanent game over"? Does everyone just die of old age? Also if people bury the coins dropped after someone dies, would that make grave-robbing the most common crime in the world?
-The fact that all Matthew needed to defeat Gideon was confidence is actually very inspiring. The probable reason why he's so extra (besides being a theater kid) is because Ramona dumped him, which really hurt his self-esteem. And while it's kinda sad and pathetic to let a middle school break-up bring down your self-worth, that doesn't mean it didn't suck for Matthew; and after realizing that Ramona wouldn't take him back just because he beat Scott, he finally got a reality check and decided that their goal was pointless, so he moved on from Ramona and decided to make something out of himself, and using the confidence he got from "beating" Scott, he unleashed his true power and was able to defeat Gideon, take his company, and then became successful Broadway actor
-"Et tu, eat me." Roxie is a fucking queen
Episode 3:
-Hey, I didn't asked to be fucking attacked about my writting process, Scott Pilgrim!
-Knives getting more character development besides being obsessed with Scott is everything I didn't know I ever wanted
-I feel you Stephen, I do 😞
-Omg I ship Knives and Kim so much!
-Since Roxie predates Toga, then should be saying that Toga gives off Roxie vibes?
Tumblr media
-I'm in lesbians with all of them
-Roxie is so fucking horny lol. Tho I can't blame her, I would go rent to that video store everyday to talk to Kim or Hollie... and immediately choke and explode before a word comes out my mouth
-Also, fun fact: Hollie looks like a milf, but she's actually 26!
-Nice of that lady to apologize to Robot-01. He doesn't deserve all the mistreatment he gets, he's a good boi
Episode 4:
-Holy fuck this animation
-Bro, what is that song? XD
-'Edgar Wrong' XD XD XD
-Young Neil is a fucking treasure
Tumblr media
💚 :3
-Straight Wallace is an anomaly that should not be allowed to exist
-Notorious heterosexual
-People are 100% saying some bullshit like, Lucas is only going out with her because he's secretly a pedo is only likes her because she's PLAYING a 17-year-old and that feeds his fetish
-Already saw a meme of the "My God!" clip, keep those coming people!
-Holy fuck this animation!!
-The paparazzi looking like cockroaches, nice
-I feel really bad for Lucas, he's actually a nice guy
-And then he fucking yeets a kid and steals his skateboard XD
-"Watch out guys, Vegan comin' through!"
Episode 5:
-I feel a little bad for Todd, but it's also so satisfying seeing this jackass, who thinks he can get away with anything because he's a rock star, get wrecked
-Weird the Vegan Police didn't show up to take away his powers tho; maybe they were informed of the situation and decided to give him a pass this time.
I really hope they expand on the whole concept of being Vegan in season 2
-Edit:
Envy: Hey, ask them what it feels like to always get his sloppy seconds?
Ramona: How does it feel-?
-I love how they expanded on the Stephen & Knives friendship :3
-I did not recognize Simon Pegg and Nick Frost until the end where they had the cornettos XD
Episode 6:
-Honestly, surprised they didn't bring up that Julie had a crush on Scott, and that's why she's always a bitch to him, specially because this is an anime, they can actually call her a tsundere!
And while we're on that, anyone think it's weird that nearly single girl in the comic had or still has a crush on Scott? Like, seriously? This asshole, really? And you just know that if it was a manga made in Japan, Stacie would have a goddamn bro-con complex with him
-Idk how I feel about them just glossing over Gideon just being an absolute monster; like yeah, Ramona was a bitch with most of her relationships and she does tend to run away from her problems, but Gideon was a manipulative, ego-centric, abusive piece of shit. I mean, the guy kept his 6 ex-girlfriends frozen in stasis for appearences or for whatever else he wanted, and he wanted to do the same to Ramona. I like him and Julie being assholes together, but seriously, I hope they touch on that in season 2
-Dude fuck those kids, I would give Gordon so much respect for actually trying that; I wish I had a third of his confidence
-I never knew I needed to see Captain America and The Spot being goofy friends until now
-I headcanon that one of the reasons why they had Matthew take over Gideon's company was so they could finally give him a job XD, tho it was always insinuated that he was in the army, because of the Private Rank patch on his jacket, which they removed in this version and that really sucka because I liked that little detail; it was also another reference to him being the 1st Evil Ex, because Private is the 1st rank in the military
-At least Ramona does recognize that what she did was messed up, even if the Twins were also being dicks, she should have just called them both out and be done with them
-Those fucking Vegan Robots man, I swear to God
Episode 7:
-When Old Scott spoke, I thought it was Ben Schwartz at first lol
-I love how the world isn't the cliché "terrible post apocalyptic world caused by something that happened to the main character", it just looks really crappy, which... yeah, accurate; the look everyone has just seems to be the current fad, they just embraced the post-apocalyptic looking world they live in.
Also that tech is not that advanced, they have hover vehicles and board, and holo-phones, that does seem like they kind of tech we could have in a few decades, maybe
-The fucking Virtual Boy XD XD XD, surprised Scott's eyes weren't on fire after staring into that thing
-Old Wallace is a fucking GILF
-That lucky motherfucker! He probably got the Switch for free!! 😬😬😬
-Nice Death Stranding reference
-Ramona changing her hair color every week was symbolic of her always running away from her problems, but I like that she keeps doing it in the future, just because she likes it
-Of course Future Ramona has fucking Back To The Future roller blades XD
-Both Ramonas are the same fucking size XD
-At first it felt that they just speedran Scott and Knives, but then again Scott probably read a little of Old Young Neil's auto-biography and figured things out. And since Knives wasn't as obsessed with Scott at this point it makes sense that she'd take this a lot better, Kim and Stephen probably helped her out too
-But at least she catharsis by seeing Scott and Ramona not being able to kiss XD
-Oh! And I just realized that she didn't waste her first kiss on Scott! 😃
Good for her!!
Episode 8:
-I think it's dumb they gave Knives her look from the comics without any reason. She only changed her look to look more appealing to Scott in the comics, and in the epilogue she's back to her normal look, like, at least have people mention the look and her saying that she's trying something new
Edit: I rewatched the whole thing and I just realized that Even Older Scott punched the highlights out of Knives' hair XD
-It's basically a meme at this point, but pls have the Katayanagi Twins do something! They had such a bigger role in the comics. At least I wanted to see their combo moves animated!
It's nice that the Exes are actually cheering for them to kiss, or maybe they're just teasing because they can't; either way it's nice
-Even Older Scott is Ramona's 8th evil ex. He debuts in the 8th episode and has studied the powers of all the other 7 Evil Exes along with his own, which adds up to 8.
Tumblr media
Sucks he didn't actually use their powers, I would have loved it if he used Vegan Powers combined with mystical powers, maybe instead of Demon Hipster Chicks he summons little Nega Scotts, he has stronger skateboard tricks than Lucas, he some robot arms that can shoot lasers and can help him do the Twins' combo moves, but doubled
-Edit: The fact that Knives went for Ramona instead of Scott. CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!!!!
-Even Older (Nega) Scott is just Evil Ryu and I fucking love it!!
-Even Older Scott's color scheme not only signifyes just how jaded and lost he's become, but also that Nega Scott has completely taken him over is just *chef's kiss*
-Edit: Todd still has the Wallace tattoo XD also his was my favorite attack, he just teleports and slams down, simple, but awesome
Also Even Older Scott defeated him with a headbutt
-Edit: It would've been funny if he had also punched Roxie in the boob again
-Every future character has "Old" in their name, but Ramona is just "Future Ramona", she will cut you if you call her old. Real missed opportunity to not call the oldest Ramona "Future Future Ramona".
"MILF" and "GILF Ramona" also would have been acceptable
-Sex Bob-Bomb became the new Crash and the Boys, except that instead of having an 8-year-old, they have a 17-year-old.
And Scott now has his actual girlfriend watching him perform
-Looks like Ramona actually enjoyed the stunt double gig. Good for her, tho honestly, she should have stuck with Netflix, Idk why, but I feel like they're gonna blow up at somepoint
-I like the idea of Lucas x Kim, but I would still prefer Knives x Kim, and my personal made-up ship: Lucas x Stacie. I just love big bois with cute smol gfs
-At first, it didn't make sense to see Todd and Roxie hanging out, but then I realized that just like Roxie, Todd was hurt by someone who treated their relationship like an un-important after-thought, a phase; and just broke it up like it was nothing, without any consideration for the other's feelings. And now that Roxie got closure with Ramona she's helping him to move on from this in a way healthier way than she did. (That and they're both gay) That is so fucking wholesome, I need to see them being friends in season 2 pls!! Also sucks she didn't interact much with Matthew, because Satya Bhabha said that he thinks Matthew and Roxie would be friends.
Also this was kinda foreshadowed in episode 2, at the end of Matthew and Gideon's fight, where she mentions wanting to get Vegan Powers after seeing how convinient they are. I need Half-Ninja, Vegan, Lesbian, now!!!!
-Wallace: Holy shit! True love does exist!?
-Ramona is finally gonna stop running away, so she keeps most of her hair as her natural color with a little green at the end to not forget her past and where she came from
-Get wait to see what Goose's game, but it must be in pretty early development, probably untitled even
SEASON 2 PLSSSSSS!!!!

“BOUND FOR FREEDOM, YEAR FIVE, DAY FOUR: “Game”
“A Game of Thrones”
"There's no avoiding it, is there?" The tiredness in Sally's voice was clear, but Sonic could tell it ran much deeper than mere physical exhaustion. The two had been on the run for quite some time, and he had never heard such a weary tone in the princess' words before. "In my experience, that's how it usually goes with the worst stuff," he replied, trying to play it cool without sounding dismissive.
Sally drew her knees close to her chest, ears flattening to her head as her gaze turned to the simmering camp fire. "...I've always known my father was a hardened man," she said. "I was his prisoner as much as his daughter, after all."
She fell silent then. Sonic watched the fire dance in the reflection of her eyes. "But...?" he prompted softly.
It took a moment before Sally reacted. "But even after I met you...even after I learned how cruel a King he really was..." She paused again, arms tightening around her legs. "...somewhere, deep down, I think there was still a part of me that hoped..." A low sigh mixed into her words, "he could still see reason. That somehow, I might be able to...talk him down." She let out a low, coughing laugh. "I know how foolish that sounds, but-"
"It doesn't," Sonic quickly spoke up. "Hopin' that things can be better...'s'what keeps people like me..." He rolled his fingers along the ground. "...like us...going."
Sally's eyes moved from the fire to the hedgehog. "...I suppose it is," she said. Then she looked away again, now into the rising smoke drifting into the night sky. "Now, though...we know. I know. He sent Elias...my own brother...to kill me." Her voice grew a little more ragged with each word. "He was prepared to sacrifice both of his own children to hold onto his power." Sonic could see the growing tension in her shoulders...her hands...even just her brows. "There's no other way. If this world is ever going to be free...he has to die. And I have to kill him."
The resignation in those words struck Sonic. He realized then it was why he'd been so keenly aware of the difference in Sally's tone from the very beginning. It was the first time he had ever heard defeat overtake her spirit. He did not care for the feeling it stirred in him. "Maybe," he said, "...or maybe not." Sally closed her eyes then, letting out another bitter sigh. "Don't get me wrong," the hedgehog continued, "however all of this ends...it was never going to be easy. But you..." He chuckled just a little, in spite of everything. "...you've already surprised me in a whole bunch of ways."
The squirrel's eyes popped back open, and she suddenly turned her gaze to the hedgehog. "You said it yourself," he told her. "The King was ready to see you and Elias dead t'get his way. But because of you...that's not what happened. You and your brother are both still alive."
"For now," she whispered back.
"Yeah, for now," Sonic said. "Folks like me? 'For now' is all we can ever count on. It matters, a lot." His fingers flexed lightly, as if remembering a certain sensation. "I'm just sayin'...maybe better things aren't possible for the King."
And with as much sincerity as he could find, he smiled for her. "But that doesn't mean they aren't still possible for you."
((lol yeah my plans for keeping pace with my own Event Week just completely fell through this year, so enjoy me playing catch-up over the coming days even more so than usual. XD As for this particular pic, I decided to take the chance to revisit that "Empire" AU of mine I keep teasing at.))

For a little while, the idw comic had me thinking, "Maybe I'm just not into Sonic anymore. I've probably outgrown the series at this point"
But then I went through the games again and realized "Oh I'm still into Sonic. The comic is just ass"
That period of time when there was no sonic media other than the idw comic really feels like it was some sort of test of faith in retrospect. lmao
Tfw you date a girl and start thinking must be gay. Then you realize no she was just that awful lol.
I do definitely recommend people sever the bonds of "fandom" and "brand loyalty." A piece of media having a title of another thing you liked is never an indication of quality, nor personal enjoyment. And going into something expecting to like it because it has the title of another thing you liked only to find you don't like it is not a betrayal, from either direction. Things either appeal to you or they don't.
I really like the first three Star Wars movies. I pretty much think everything else that has the Star Wars name attached to it is kind of awful. I don't fret over whether that means I'm a star wars fan or not. I just enjoy watching those movies.
I have never derived any personal enjoyment from the cartoons and comics made under the name Sonic, because they do not resemble the thing that I enjoy by any spectrum of the imagination beyond a superficial surface level aesthetic. And I can never really get into games like Freedom Planet or Spark The Electric Jester or other games that "play like Sonic", because A: they usually don't and the people saying they do are fucking lying, and B: they don't have the aesthetic and characters that I'm invested in which is a necessary element of what I enjoy about Sonic games in the first place.
It's a "I can't tell you the definition, but I know it when I see it" kind of thing. The only thing I know for real is if something does not spark joy, just drop it and avoid it. And don't let that things existence spoil or sour you on anything else. Gotta take everything on a case by case basis.
I do feel like the ONLY reason the comic lasted under any kind of success was due to... Well firstly due to the stolen valor of Sonic being a recognizable brand that will sell to normies on that title and nothing else, but also because of scarcity mindset. If it released when there were already movies and games around it, I doubt anybody would have been able to work up the motivation to even pretend to care. Now after five years they have no choice but to continue pretending to care out of sheer sunk cost.

'If last week was frantic, fast, and offering a wide open welcome mat to Doctor Who fans new and old, Wild Blue Yonder felt like a demonstration of what the show can do and has done. First half hour? Good. Second half hour? Great.
We left the Doctor and Donna – David Tennant and Catherine Tate – in a TARDIS out of control at the end of last week’s The Star Beast. Wild Blue Yonder, the middle part of the 60th anniversary trilogy of Doctor Who, initially took things from there just via, er, 1666. Bonus points if you were instantly trying to work out if we were in the territory of the bubonic plague or the Great Fire Of London when that date popped up on screen.
Turns out, neither. In a tip of the hat to how much more money the show has its disposal, it was all a set up for a gag about gravity. Respect. Russell T Davies has just told the year’s most expensive dad joke.
But, post credits, this was at its best top tier Russell T Davies Doctor Who.
It was bold early.
Wild Blue Yonder robbed the Doctor very early in the story of two of his most potent pieces of equipment: his trusty sonic screwdriver, and his TARDIS. Both gone, minutes after the majestic blue box had been belching out massive flames. I was expecting, at that stage, more fast and furious stuff. Turns out I got quite the opposite.
he first effect of taking the TARDIS away was to give some time to settle and actually spend some time with the Doctor and Donna. The pair were running around so much in the fast-paced The Star Beast last week, that stopping for a proper chat was out of the question.
Here, that was happily remedied.
In fact, the episode itself was slower, calmer and really crept up the longer it went. Like a slow moving robot going along a corridor. Doctor Who the show may have new clothes and new resources, but I like Davies established that for all that, it’s still a show where the brakes matter. When you go slower, the impact can double.
The basics: we got an apparently abandoned spaceship that itself presents mysteries, and a posh remote camera to help explore it. But for the Doctor, something unfamiliar: a lack of stars, the edge of creation, a hundred trlllion years from Earth. Where even the Time Lord hadn’t been before, and seemingly didn’t know what to expect.
A bit of licking (yep) and joshing later, and out came a dash of Everything Everywhere All At Once. Extended arms that I thought were going to be played for comedy (and there were chuckles in the episode). But Davies wrongfooted me again, continually shifting the foundations of tone: turns out that if you’re looking to come up with a really creepy foe for David Tennant to face off against, you can do a lot worse than recruit David Tennant and Catherine Tate. It took a while, but I started to get Midnight vibes from it all, and that’s a very high Who bar.
It did take me a little time to settle though, and I’m about to pen a couple of churlish paragraphs for which the internet should hate me. Deep breath, here goes.
It does seem odd to note some of the effects work on Doctor Who, given what many of us grew up with. But the future craft on which the Doctor and Donna landed looked like it was made with a computer, and it didn’t look like they were there. It’s an odd side effect of the budget of the show, and being able to consistently afford nice things: the nice things are in turn held to a higher standard.
I feel weird typing that paragraph about Doctor Who. But for a moment, and this doesn’t usually happen, it took me out of things. I was back in for the most bizarre chase sequence I’ve seen all year, mind. And I happily watched the show without murmur of complaint throughout the 1980s. I’m clearly a spoilt whingebag.
Nice tip of the hat to Thunderbirds at one point. Let me get out of this hole by recognising that.
I bring all that up because in the first half of Wild Blue Yonder I was noticing stuff like that. In the second, I was absolutely gripped. When the Doctor and Donna properly went head-to-head with the Doctor and Donna? Well, with huge applause to the two actors at the heart of it, I became more and more unnerved. In a good way.
It’s like the shoot-out in something like the classic movie For A Few Dollars More, with two people working the other out, taking turns to take shots. Metaphorical ones here, as each explains whether the other was real or not.
Loved that.
As the episode went on, just where the floor of reality sat became less and less clear. Related: the more ambiguous Wild Blue Yonder became, it all became richer. Even when David Tennant’s head basically poked out of his own arse (it didn’t, but it looked like that), I was engrossed by what was going on..
Coming up with a Doctor Who monster to really get under our skin is a challenge in itself, especially now. Having Tennant and Tate just staring, with a half grin? Well, they’ve outgunned The Meep to my eyes.
Let’s take a moment too to consider the whole Gallifrey got “complicated” aside.
It’s a brief line from the Doctor that he utters, and he ain’t bloody kidding. Like it or not, the Chris Chibnall era of Doctor Who made a lot of Gallifrey (far more than Davies was ever inclined to do in his first run at Who), and anyone picking up those threads was always going to facing, well, let’s go with ‘a challenge’.
However, thrown into the mix here – although whether to believe it is a question in itself – is that the Doctor perhaps isn’t as sure of his roots as we’ve been led to believe. Might he not be from Gallifrey? Is it really possible that Davies has found something else in the character’s origin, six decades on? This is also picking up the mantle of The Timeless Child, introduced during the 13th Doctor’s era.
Will Davies choose to run with it? As the Time Lord himself once said, “time will tell. It always does”.
As much as Russell T Davies is a whizz at delivering a one-hour blockbuster episode of the show, he’s also proven he’s capable of offbeat, weird and unpredictable stories. I’m going to namecheck Midnight again, because – unexpectedly – it feels to me like an ideal companion piece for Wild Blue Yonder. Midnight-ish, on a bigger canvas, with the slowest ticking bomb Who has probably ever seen.
I thought it was terrific.
Credit too to director Tom Kingsley, and enormous applause for just how strong the work of Catherine Tate and David Tennant was here.
But the final word goes to one man: Bernard Cribbins. The last scenes that he shot for Doctor Who, just before we lost him in 2022, ended the episode. I thought that was a lovely, lovely touch. Sure, there was a massive plane above his head, but the ultimate focus was, rightly, on a much-missed actor. How fitting that the episode was dedicated to him. I can’t have been the only one with dust in my eye.
Next week, this trio of specials comes to an end with The Giggle. The trailer promises much. I’d suggest Wild Blue Yonder has set an early high bar for this latest era of Doctor Who.
Now, if you don’t mind, I’m off to watch it again. And to tip my hat to Bernard one more time…'

honestly with the way i have eaten through the few kingdom hearts games i have played it is kind of strange that i still have only ever played four of these things. i have been aware of like the greater plot for years by way of reading and watching things. but i just never got around to playing most of the games because i dunno. i just haven't. maybe it's like bleach and i just let the consensus i was seeing of people going "thing bad and cringe" get to me.
which is very silly when my feelings on things like sonic vs. mario and bleach vs. one piece are what they are. i like stylish disasters that speak to my heart. and as a result i am probably going to end up one of the vaunted few who can love playing days. if i am especially cursed, as i often am, it will end up being my favorite kingdom hearts.
i think i am going to try riding the adhd momentum from bbs as far as i can take it. maybe this time i will actually be able to beat fucking xigbar.

"god, you're such a nuisance. come here.. i love you."
14+House?
Oh yes, the Doctor and House! Wasn't that, like, the first ship I ever posted here??? Probably, I dunno.
Takes place between the comics and short stories and The Star Beast, so no Donna yet. Cause if Donna was here, she'd probably slap House right out of the TARDIS. Somehow!
Warning: House is a jerk, the Doctor puts up with him (which they really shouldn't), and for anyone confused House is the character Michael played in The Doctor's Wife, but he exists in this au as a solid hologram that lives in the TARDIS cause he's a parasite (and I love him)
On with the fic!
--
"She wants to update the systems and you're not letting her."
The Doctor did not turn to the voice, instead was pretending their whole attention was simply on the little custard cream dispenser on the console. Okay, most of their attention was on it, the other bits were on the new sonic that they had in their pocket and on the bright-green glow of the hologram at their side.
It was kind of scary to know that House had been in the system for years, even centuries, hiding away. Most of him had been removed when the bowtie-wearing Doctor and Idris had kicked him out all those years ago, but apparently he had been able to keep just enough of himself in the TARDIS to keep him attached.
It wasn't much, but in the centuries that had passed since that incident, the part of House that remained had grown and gotten stronger. No where near as huge as he had been as a planet, but big enough that he now had some influences on the TARDIS.
Not a lot, at least not as much as when he had controlled the ship when the core was removed. Or when he had been living in the TARDIS during this face's previous run.
But enough that he was still there, projecting as a typical hologram, in too many shades of green that it hurt the Doctor's eyes. Made them think of the Matrix, all those greens in such a dark space, clashed badly with the orange glow of the room.
The Doctor bit down on the custard creme between their fingers and turned to the hologram, who was hovering way too close now. They didn't know what they felt for this being, they had started to fall for him during their tenth incarnation, but after kicking House into the vortex and then properly running into him again in the next regeneration, well...
They were still pretty damn angry about what happened to his friends, to the Time Lords, and to Idris and the TARDIS.
But damnit, they also still liked him, and found his human-projection attractive. Even in this electrical green.
They sighed. "What do you mean?"
"She wants you out so she can update the desktop." House shrugged, pretending to lean against the console.
"I'm doing a bit of calculating, when I land she can fiddle around. Why does she want to update? What's wrong with this one?"
House glanced around and then looked at the large pillar in the center of the console. The way he seemed focused seemed to indicate a conversation with the TARDIS that the Doctor wasn't allowed to hear. Rude.
"She said that it's not you, and that she's got plans and needs your pretty, skinny butt out." House smiled.
The Doctor sniffed. "She didn't say that last bit."
"Well, I might have changed a word or two." House chuckled and was suddenly closer.
The Doctor glared at him and swatted at the projection, hand going through him a few times, glitching him out for a few seconds.
House looked annoyed when he came back and the Doctor smirked, popping the rest of the custard into their mouth as they moved to another part of the console.
"God, you're such a nuisance." House scoffed.
"You knew that the last two me's you interacted with, did you think I'd be any different? Not just a trait of this pretty face, it's always been a thing." The Doctor replied, flipping two switches, then turned a knob.
"And I wouldn't expect anything less from you, Doctor." House replied, watching them. There was a quiet pause between them before House sighed. "Come here."
"Why?" The Doctor frowned. "I'm busy, getting ready to find my next destination."
"Because I love you." The Doctor's fingers froze on a switch at those words, they didn't move. "And I know you still do as well, come here to me, let's make up for lost time."
The Doctor swallowed and before they could look at the hologram, the TARDIS suddenly flipped switches on her own, and the room rocked, sending them flying through the vortex.
A distraction, that's what she was doing, and the Doctor mentally thanked her. They weren't... they weren't ready to address that massive elephant in the room, not right now.

Lots of emotional stuff for Fourteen to deal with when it comes to an ex. Especially an ex that tried to kill them and their friends a while back. :)

I know you're blog title is probably exaggerating, but I wanna know exactly what moments and what about them made you cry. Hold nothing back. I'm willing to read a Bible's worth of this stuff. I love hearing about how people emotionally connect to pieces of fiction in a positive way, especially if it's something near and dear to me like Sonic.
nope i am not exaggerating in the slightest lol, i've kept count for the past year
That being said, I don't remember ALL of each moments that made me cry, but I answered a similar question a year ago (back then the count was only 6 times)
I cried because Sonic reminds me of a very obscure comfort character of mine and one of the 2 people I talk to who know about this character confirm that he is exactly like him, which hits deep because they both are optimistic punk guitarists who would definitely fit My Chemical Romance's "Danger Days" album due to their life philosophies
I made a new friend recently One of my friends has been a Sonic fan longer than I've been alive, and since I got into Sonic post-Forces they said that they were glad the first game I can experience be released is Sonic Frontiers because of how massively amazing it is in comparison to how the franchise has been for the past decade
Catching up with a friend since they're working and I'm in college and they allowed me to infodump on Discord call about Sonic Frontiers... I forget WHY exactly it made me cry at the moment but like, god this game was so good and I was only WATCHING gameplay
I think more recent ones I remember have been:
Outright crying because it took me so many hours to finally beat the Master King Koco Trial (I have video of this but I don't think I'm ready to use vids of me crying for internet clout yet LMAO)
Hearing I'm Here (Revisited) for the first time and hearing the instrumental + Kellin Quinn's vocals as Eggman aims the rifle, seeing Sonic grow so powerful he defeats The End in one shot, floats through space unconscious, and lands back down onto the planet okay and finally able to be with his friends again
I'm not 100% sure about these ones, but I guarantee-ish moments I have cried were:
Watching Penny "Snapcube" Parker play Sonic Frontiers (like I've said, this is the first Sonic game I've actively followed coming out + would have just watched let's plays before realizing it looked so fun to play that I wanted it for Christmas) and her playing the entire Chaos Island storyline where Sonic admits Tails is basically his little brother and he'll miss him when he goes out on his own adventure
Sage's sacrifice + hearing Dear Father
That shot in the original ending (Penny played Hard Mode so it was getting me antsy enough to see what the ending would be after the bullet hell section) where it's just Sonic flying through the air like a shooting star; the shot of Sonic being a literal star coupled with the specific part of I'm With You that plays just looked so incredibly beautiful
While once again I'm not sure if I can name specific moments, but Sonic Frontiers is genuinely one of the best experiences I've had. For the longest time I've only played free-to-play MMOs like Wizard101 and Toontown (and also Minecraft Bedrock edition), and while I have yet to catch up to Wizard101, I've never really gotten attatched to triple A games.
Watching Penny play Sonic Frontiers, after ages of hearing that "oh this old Sonic game is the best" "eugh these past few Sonic games are terrible" and seeing a human just genuinely enjoy this fresh new game, especially as the first Sonic game that I as a newer fan was seeing experience in real time, just filled me with so much joy. Seeing each update come out to make it better and better, and seeing Frontiers completely blow itself out of the water and put Sonic on-par with other triple A games instead of being seen as a joke 24/7, it made the experience of Sonic Frontiers being my first real Sonic game so much more sweeter. And heck, it's incredibly accessible! Wizard101 is basically a card game simulator and even I with a keyboard was able to 100% it, play hard mode, and complete the DLC!
I think that in itself, seeing Frontiers as my first Sonic game and seeing how good it is, just makes the entire experience really emotional for me. How so many of my friends who've been fans longer than me are excited I get to experience the same joy they felt when they first became Sonic fans. It's like seeing an old friend that you haven't seen for a long time mixed with the sheer joy of waking up on Christmas morning during your childhood.
I have a lot of feelings about this game ;w;
EDIT: OH OH that part where Sonic grabs the giant sword and slashes Knight in half coupled with the ending of Find Your Flame 100% made me cry too

My Start with Anime- Looking Back
Tumblr media
The first anime I believe I ever saw was Pokemon on TV.
But that was before I properly understood how anime was different. As a kid everything that wasn't real people was just “cartoons”. It wasn’t until I came across anime on Youtube some years later that I started to recognize anime as its own area of animation. Before Youtube I didn't happy any perception of anime and would have just came across whatever was playing on the popular kids channels like Disney and Cartoon Network. I didn't watch many shows other people around my actual age did when they were younger, such as Dragon Ball, Naruto etc. And my family didn't have any interest in Japanese pop culture outside of a strong love for Godzilla. I can really only remember Kirby Right Back at Ya!, Sonic X and Pokemon as ones I significantly liked.
Most of the anime I initially watched were mid 2000s shows. The first ones I remember getting super into were Lucky Star, Ouran HSHC, the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Death Note, and Clannad. This was when I properly became an anime fan. These early shows were definitely influential on Slice of Life becoming my favorite genre. I still like all of these shows and Clannad remains one of my absolute favorites. Once I got hooked on anime, I never really stopped.
Now that I have said the above, I must confess that the actual first anime I watched on Youtube was Girls Bravo. It's true quite a few of the earlier shows I saw were lewd in nature, like To Love Ru and Macademi Wasshoi. But these were not the important and influential ones, I promise!
Back then being an anime fan was a lot harder than now. It wasn't quite as bad as people a bit older than me, but you still didn't really want to talk about it casually. It was weird and different, so even if you didn't get harshly bullied over it, it still felt natural to hide what wasn't truly mainstream (which was very few). I remember slamming my laptop shut when I heard someone walk by my room at home and being ready to lock my phone at a moment's notice when someone walked by me in school. Thankfully nowadays anime is much more mainstream and more widely accepted.
Anime has been a significant part of my life- it has inspired me and has had a big impact on my way of thinking, it fostered a strong appreciation for the art process and artists, it got me interested in cosplay (I still need to make a cosplay of Dark Flame Master, he is the first character I genuinely planned to cosplay), and was a common interest that helped me make many friends over the years. It's tough to resist pressure to conform and not hide your passions that don't fit the mainstream, but I will always say to be proud of your interests. Don't let people stop you from liking a harmless hobby. There are other people out there who also like it that you'll be able to connect with. That was very important for me. The internet has its positives and negatives, but at least now finding good people who share in your passion is much easier than it was when I was younger. Making friends who liked anime and joining anime clubs had a big impact on me. If anyone is reading this and needs anime friends, I recommend giving your local anime club a shot. It can be scary to enter a new place and the thought of being seen as part of an anime club can be scary too, but you may very well find your safe space and make lifelong friends. I'm very thankful I did.
Now after more than a decade of watching anime, I still love it. I've been following the seasonals consistently for many years now and have a completed list on MAL of a bit over 400 lol. I may not watch as many each season as I used to, but I don't plan on stopping!
Thank you for reading my first proper post! I hope you enjoyed learning about my anime journey!

Nintendo Direct July 2023 Thoughts!
I miss E3. I miss having a set time of year to be able to schedule time off so I can watch the onslaught of summer game trailers and reveals live, an not having to worry about sandwiching my viewing experience between work hours.
I did eventually, in the dead of night, manage to watch this latest Summer-time Direct and even after a night’s sleep I’m still unsure what to think of it. There were a games of interest in it but not so much for me specifically and perhaps too much focus on Mario related properties overall.
Let’s get onto some highlights though: Princess Daisy is playable in a mainline Mario game... oh, and there is a new 2D mainline Mario game. Super Mario Bros Wonders is looking pretty awesome, even though it took a while for it to grab my interests. Along with Daisy getting her time to shine, I also like the incorporation of Yoshi as a playable character, but with the capability of carrying other characters as if he were the mount/power-up like before.
On that Mario note, Kamek is playable in Mario Kart! I don’t play Mario Kart 8 but given the long history of Kamek not being playable in Mario Kart despite being planned for Mario Kart 64, this still feels pretty noteworthy and I’m glad for the character.
A new WarioWare game also got announced. I’m... unsure what to think about WarioWare: Move It. It’s likely going to be fun but that’s purely based on the experience of the other WarioWare entries being fun. Given we already had a WarioWare entry on Switch, an having read this article recently, I do feel that a different IP (Rhythm Heaven perhaps, I do believe the same team make them) should have been the focus.
There’s also a new Princess Peach game being worked on... which doesn’t appear to have Perry the Parasol in and so doesn’t appear to be carrying on from Super Princess Peach 2... a game that ended with questions left unanswered. I guess we didn’t really see enough of this outside of it existing, so I’m currently curious but a bit pessimistic (I don’t think my day at work helped my view going in).
This post is getting pretty long so let’s be quick with this non-Mario stuff; Sonic Superstars continues to look great. That game is probably a guaranteed game for me to purchase at this point. Penny’s Big Breakaway is another game that looks pretty fantastic so far and I adore the character design. Headbanger Rhythm Royale seems quite amusing, an whilst Pikmin 4 never was quite my thing, the new entry looks pretty stellar.
So yeah... I’m still unsure about my thoughts to this Mario Direct. What do you think though; any games that interest you? Feel free to say in the Notes.

To the ask game... Shadow
An interesting choice! ^-^
do I like them:
Hmmm... kinda? He's not in my top 5 favourite characters, but I do think he is cool and I like his backstory.
5 good qualities:
I used to be quite scared of SA2's story (I was young and easily startled), but I have warmed up to it, and though I do know not everyone likes it I consider it to tackle quite a few topics I would otherwise not have thought about in an engaging and touching way. Like Gerald's desperation to save his dying granddaughter, the idea of weapons of mass destruction, everyone's fear of Shadow and what he can do as the Ultimate Lifeform, and so on.
I like how Shadow does not waste words on things that should not have words wasted on them. It's a nice contrast to Sonic, but it also shows how they are the same: Sonic is not above quipping and joking, but he knows how to watch his words in situations where it counts. Shadow just seems a lot more extreme in that regard.
This might be a very unpopular opinion, but I like how he buried the hatchet with GUN and now works together with them to ensure prosperity for the world. It seems like a bittersweet ending to the 50+ years of strive that spanned out between GUN, the Commander, Shadow, and Gerald, even if Shadow was frozen for most of those 50 years. I like to think that Shadow and the Commander managed to reconcile and both went on to make GUN a better organisation.
He also has a nice friendship with Rouge and Omega! They seem exactly like the bunch of misfits who hit it off together immediately, and it's nice to see how Shadow is able to make friends with others and form close bonds despite being somewhat misanthropic and very much preferring to be by himself.
And lastly, I like his vow to move on and no longer live for the past in the ending of ShTH. For a character whose story mostly happened 50 years in the past and who has very little remaining from that era, I think it is nice that he decides to live for the future instead.
3 bad qualities:
I honestly don't like how he is written in IDW. He feels needlessly rude and blunt, in a way that I cannot envision game!Shadow to act like.
While I wasn't around in the Sonic fandom when SA2 and Heroes were released, I do agree with the sentiment that it might have been better to wait one or two games for Shadow to have made his return. Heroes had a lot going on with four teams, and thus Shadow's plotline of amnesia and the Shadow Androids honestly got put on the backburner somewhat.
Why oh why did Sega make everything point towards him just murdering the Jackal Squad in Episode Shadow from Forces? Infinite states Shadow "destroyed [his] squad", Eggman states that "Defense Squad Jackal has already been completely annihilated" and "totally wrecked", making Shadow quip about how Eggman should have hired some defense squads for the defense squad. Sure, terms like destroyed and wrecked all do not explicitly state that he killed them ('annihilated' however is not just an "oh oopsie Shadow gave one a kick and now he's bruised but they're totes fine I swear!!"), but considering the way Infinite reacted, I do not think the Jackal Squad escaped with their lives. Considering how it set a large chunk of the plot of Forces in motion, this was one of the more dumbass moves on Shadow's parts, and I also find it somewhat uncharacteristically brutal of him after his character development.
favourite episode/etc:
I think he is very neat in Sonic Battle! His whole shtick as weapon of mass destruction who sees Emerl as the same is quite heartwrenching. I should play the game again, it's got a great story imo!
otp, brotp, ot3 and notp:
None for all of them XD
best quote:
I'm trying to think of one from Battle (I believe it is like "No-one should have to go through the things that I have!" aimed at Emerl), but I am not certain that was the quote and finding it might be a struggle, so let's go with a classic instead: "If the world chooses to become my enemy, I will fight like I always have."
head canon:
Has regular movie nights with Rouge and Omega. Rouge is in charge of which movie they watch (generally very sappy chick flicks), Omega makes the popcorn, and Shadow provides the occasional biting commentary about what is happening on the screen regarding contrived plot points and overall idiocy of the characters.
