#i have grown a lot

I made these for this one trend on ig, but it was kind of cool to look back on how I was then and how I am now. I’ve always defined a lot of who I am on what I like because of how important my hyperfixations and special interests are to me. It’s interesting to see how my interests have changed without really changing. I still love the same kinds of things, and I still love all the things on the 2020 picture, but I’ve also expanded past trying to fit a stereotype. 2020 me would not have been caught dead liking My Hero Academia or Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. And Spider-Man would’ve been a guilty pleasure, like how Steven Universe was. But I love the things that I love. Because it’s important to me and has helped me discover myself. I definitely needed the things that I was obsessed with then, but I need different things now. I’ve been able to explore things that I liked before in a new way and explore new things that I didn’t think I would like before. Getting to really open up to myself the parts of me I repressed for so long trying to be a cishet woman, before the very transitional period of 2020 and the less transitional year of now. Not to say I’ve fully figured myself out, because I don’t think anyone can really do that, but I’ve learned a lot of things about myself. I learned that I like silly things, I’ve learned that I’m a nerdy little guy, and I’ve learned that that’s fine. And all of this introspection from a fucking Instagram trend.

you wear katsuki’s clothes to bed.

among all your cotton and silk pajamas, you prefer the thinning fabric of his faded tees. there are holes in some of them, just a few more seams away from their undoing as they fit far too large on you—but that’s why you love them.

they’re comfy and worn; lived in with love from the man that you love. when katsuki is gone for days or weeks at a time, you find his warmth intertwined within the threads of his t-shirts. when the fabric presses against your back, the bed doesn’t feel nearly as empty as it is.

(though it can never replace him. nothing can, you fear.)

“hoggin’ all my shirts,” he tuts, but you know it means nothing. the roll of white fabric is neatly folded unto itself, its crisp corners unfurling once handed over.

you giggle, shaking off its folds and fitting the hem right over your head. from the corner of your eye, you see katsuki’s gaze, watching you wrangle the fabric over you as the towel wrapped around your body slowly drops to the floor.

he turns away then, a little too quickly, a little too abruptly. if you look at him now, you’re sure you’ll find flushed cheeks and crimson eyes burning in shame for wanting you so inopportunely.

“guess you’ll just have to take me with it then.”

It's unfair how time with you feels so short. How the last 10 years have felt like no time at all. I like to think there are other versions of us out there, somewhere. Maybe in another timeline, another universe. I like to think we find each other no matter where we are or what we're doing. That we're together and happy and I get to love you in a dozen different lifetimes. That's what I hope, anyway. And I hope when this lifetime ends, we get to start over and do it all again. Because once just isn't enough. Not for me. Not with you.

I hope the next 10 years pass slower.

tfone au where OP is created as the last of the primes but way after them, a sparkling born at what were thought to be the last days of the war against the quintessons, the beginning of a new generation of peace after eons of war. a child meant to be loved and raised knowing nothing of war nor sacrifice.

he's kept mostly out of the spotlight by his siblings, who don't wish to expose him to everyone's optics so young, and want to wait until the war is done and over to properly introduce him to their people.

except of course the primes are betrayed and murdered by sentinel, the war is lost and everyone who knows and cared for the truth is either banished or outright killed in order to suppress it.

and the high guard, the ones the primes trusted the most, the ones that were supposed to protect them, the ones who failed in their most important duty, have to make a choice. to take the last prime, their last hope, with them to the surface, a hostile environment where there's little to no supplies and where they'll be hunted down by both sentinel and the quintessons as the biggest threat to their regimen.

or hide him in plain sight. place him where sentinel won't think to look for him. one more sparkling among many. and hope it will be enough to keep him alive. pray to primus that he'll protect his last child long enough for them to come back for him when it's safer (even if most of them have already lost their faith on him when he allowed the rest of his children to be massacred like that)

they almost lose their resolve when they realize they will have to take the little one's cog away in order to make him blend in with the rest of the newborns (and oh do they burn with murderous intent when they see what sentinel has done to their people but it's not the time yet-) but in the end they decide an impaired little prime is better than a dead one.

and so in the chaos of thirteen dead primes and a sudden energon crisis, a little sparkling who very few mechs really knew about and even fewer had seen completely vanishes. and in the depths of iacon a mech in charge of a new batch of newborns scratches their helm in confusion as they realize they must have miscounted the first time.

optimus prime is quietly erased from any official records by sentinel, written off as dead when they find a sparkling's frame mangled beyond recognition after an attack on the base of those rebels that insist on being a thorn on his side. killing the sparkling hadn't been precisely in his plans, he probably could've found some use for it after all, but he's not particularly upset about it either.

and orion pax grows up with an ache on his spark that tells him he's missing something far more important than a t-cog and dreams of gentle and loving hands, cradling him against the frames of mechs he cannot recall the faces of.

Felt like doing some random Grown Apart AU doodles to relax in-between comp stuff.

Truthfully, it started out as me just wanting to draw Donnie in his dapper little vest, sans the tailcoat. And then it just snowballed from there lol.

No specific context for any of these well, except maybe one but the feathery fiend in the top-left is one of Leo's hooligan yokai friends. Her name is Jia. I'll post more about her (and the other yokai teens) in the near future.
