But to put it in short this is an au where alex successfully convinced jay to help him stopped the "illness". here's the mini doodles that happened in this au

- if you remember the entry where alex lured brian to kill him. in this au alex thought he had successfully killed brian and asked jay to bury his corpse. But before jay could do anything he saw that brian was still alive. And because he started to doubt the illness idea alex told him and he DIDN'T want to kill people at all, he let brian go and lied to alex about burying his corpse (brian is mad at both alex and jay nevertheless. and he start to form his own plan from there, including alert tim)

- alex always tried to remind (gaslight) jay that they did the right things and the people they kill cannot be saved and jay is like, conflict within himself? because he knew the operator existed but he thought that alex'a way of purging illness is too much but he also had no idea what else will help them at this point plus he started to get scared of alex after seeing his personality changed

- in the original series you will see jay trying to get to the bottom of everything but in this au tim will have this role instead (jay just laying low all the time in this au and probably will have depression at some point)

I've never done a full breakdown of everything that happened to my version of Vincent while he was under the knife (although there is a partial breakdown from like 12 years ago on Ask Vincent Valentine), but @spinejackel tagged my recent Vincent doodle gushing about autopsy scar (Vincent Has a Y-Incision headcanon supremacy!) so I figured it was probably a good time. This is also probably the best method, since I can apply the right tags and trigger warnings to hopefully keep it from hitting the people who would be disturbed.

For anyone who doesn't know, figuring out the fucked up physiology of victims of science is like my entire jam. I think this is what happens when you let a chronically ill child watch Akira and the original Bubblegum Crisis OVA and most of the works of Masamune Shirow. All that before FF7 even existed. This means that the explanation under the cut may seem excessive, and this post is very long. I've been building it over over a quarter century, I don't think there's any avoiding it at this point.

Warnings for body horror, nonconsensual body modification, medical horror and torture. Basically, if there's anything you can think of related to becoming a victim of science under the rule of an unethical sci-fantasy oligarchy, it's probably in here to some degree. It's explained plainly and simply, in clinical but not visceral detail.

My headcanons for what Hojo did to Vincent are pretty specific, albeit not precisely comprehensive; 27 years later I still don't really have a particularly solid concept for how he turned Vincent into a shapeshifter, although at least we know it's not something entirely specific to Vincent—Hojo repeated that facet of the experiment in Azul, but not in any other SOLDIER operative even in DeepGround, implying that it's only possible if very specific physiological conditions are met. The minimal concept I do have involves a twisted application of the concept of incarnate summoning as it appears in FFXIII-2, but it's very vague and also not the topic of this post. Maybe later.

Regarding the Y-incision/autopsy scar, my headcanon is that once Hojo tweaked Vincent into being able to regenerate from any injury—an enhancement that is confirmed to be entirely Hojo's work in Dirge—the professor of course felt it necessary to run various tests quantify the usefulness of his handiwork. He did this first by inflicting various surface injuries, then by causing more extreme bodily trauma, which eventually culminated in Hojo removing the majority of Vincent's internal organs in order to measure how long it took them to grow back and, assuming they did grow back, how the new ones compared to Vincent's original parts.

To be able to observe this as closely as possible, Hojo kept Vincent's torso open for the entire process—which he repeated twice more in order to check the weight, size and structure of the newly-grown organs in comparison to the originals. This study proved that most of them did grow back, but the majority of them stopped developing much earlier than was appropriate for Vincent's age and size. The difference was consistent, Hojo just never figured out why most of them grew back smaller and less-developed.

The reason this happened is based the fact that most of the organs in the human trunk are used in digestion and other related processes, and Vincent's regeneration means he doesn't need to eat or drink anymore. His body only expended as much energy as was completely necessary to develop those organs to the point of being functional rather than normal, because they're not really necessary. Vincent is glad he still has them, though, because he does still occasionally eat (usually in social situations) and also he'd be really sad if he couldn't even have coffee.

Vincent's brain activity remained normal during the entire process, although that may have something to do with Hojo driving a bunch of fluid lines into his head and flooding the inside of his skull with mako to keep him awake the whole time even while deprived of oxygen. (Rebirth spoilers, but seeing the bit in the Nibelheim Protorelic questline where Hojo does something super similar to this, after this has been my headcanon for decades, was a trip.)

Two organs didn't grow back at all: Vincent's appendix and one kidney. This was also the result of efficient energy expenditure, as the human appendix isn't necessary for survival, and only one kidney is really required. (Each time Hojo removed the new kidney, the one that grew back would be on the opposite side, which bothered Hojo to no end.)

His lungs grew back a little larger, possibly because his skeletal structure never quite recovered after his first transformation into Galian—his arms and legs are noticeably too long for his body, although not to the point of looking impossible, and likewise his ribcage settled to breadth that would allow for larger lungs. He doesn't really need these anymore either, related to his brain being exposed to so much mako during the process that it can now operate without oxygen if necessary, but switching himself over from aerobic to anaerobic respiration is really unpleasant and Vincent tries to avoid it when he can.

His heart was pretty normal by the time Hojo was done with him, although his heartrate had dropped to like 20bpm even when elevated. Again, if respiration isn't necessary, there's not much reason for the system to be active. (By the time Lucrecia was done this had dropped to around 5bpm on average, although it's completely arrhythmic and jumps all over the place when he's not either particularly active or on the verge of a transformation.)

This was the experiment that left Vincent susceptible to degradation, which Hojo didn't realize until after finally closing him back up. Upon realizing that Vincent's body wasn't responding properly to a different test (a repetition of an earlier experiment related to the regeneration of external tissues and features), Hojo just kinda threw him in a tube to be disposed of at a later date, kinda like that scene in Arrested Development where there's that dead dove in a bag in the fridge. The incision healed at some point during the period that Lucrecia was working on him, but early enough in her work that the tissue couldn't flawlessly regenerate (like it does in the present), leaving him with one more gnarly scar on top of all the rest.

Vincent is self-conscious about all the physiological changes brought on by what was done to him, often to the point of loathing. His left arm is the worst—it rotted off while he was in the throes of degradation and grew back as something that he hesitates to call his arm—but Vincent hates that Y-incision scar almost as much. Some days they tie.

(It has come up in appropriately horrified conversation with Shalua that, considering how his regeneration works, Vincent could probably get rid of all the scars on his chest if he somehow peeled the skin off his torso in a single swath. He will not be doing that. Besides, it might grow back the wrong color/texture/etc, like his left arm. Not worth the risk, much less the suffering.)

Also I gotta finish off this entry with the extremely stupid headcanon reveal that Vincent's (honestly fairly impressive) dick was cut off during the first round of bodily trauma regeneration tests—and Hojo has never felt the sort of rage he experienced upon discovering that it grew back bigger than before. This occurred early enough in the experiments that Vincent was not awake for it, and thus has no idea how the fuck this happened, and does not want to talk about it ever thank you very much. I've never mentioned it in public anywhere because it is extremely stupid, but I hope someone out there finds it as funny a concept as I do.

UPP OC BACKSTORY AND STUFF TIME!!! (plus occasional doodles)

plenty of this is spitballing, so i haven't fully cemented anything. it's all a bunch of yapping, so I'll put a tldr at the bottom to explain it in simpler terms lol. anyways,,,

Oakley moved to Deadwood when she was about 12. Right before the beginning of her 7th grade year. I feel like she definitely went down the fnaf to ghost hunting pipeline. I don't even know if that's a real pipeline, but it was for me. So she basically knew all the terms and stuff.

from what i can tell, upp was just a bunch of kids that liked ghost hunting, though ive seen the idea of all the kids in upp having ghost themed powers, kinda like wiwis but not as,,, wiwi. ill talk more about it later.

Despite knowing a bit about ghost hunting, Oakley would never have done it before. She lived in a highly populated area, not too far from the coast and one of Prime's big cities (I'm thinking near new haven, but NH might not be on the coast). There weren't any super old buildings in bike-riding distance for Oakley to explore. Plus one big thing with ghost hunting is that you dont! go! alone! (i'm really really tempted to make a post on how will maybe did this and it lead to him falling off a cliff. idk). Anyways, she's very skeptical of the actual existence of ghosts. This is one of the times I'm pulling out of my own life for that. If you've ever watched Buzzfeed Unsolved, she's Shane. She does think ghost hunting is very cool, however. (it makes sense to me, as a person who is a skeptic irl)

As I said earlier, she moved right before the beginning of 7th grade. She moved with her mom to live with her nana. There's a couple reasons for this. 1) Ol' nana silvia was up there in age, her mom wanted to keep an eye on her an all that. 2) If you can imagine, rent prices right outside of New Haven are expensive as fuck. And nothing beats the 2 acre backyard that Oakley's mother, Mae, grew up with. Like,,, sure the place was a little freaky, but that's most old places anyways.

So they move. Oakley is lowkey highkey pissed about the move. She understands, mostly, but she *really* doesn't want to move, obviously. Aside from the fact that she'd be leaving her friends behind, she's been on plenty of trips to Deadwood. That place is freaky. Mae convinces her that it's not really that bad, the house is old, it just needs some renovating.

obviously thats not the case. oakley continues being pretty much oblivious to the ghosts, blaming it on some weird noises or something until she finally comes face to face with one.

for my ideas on the whole ghost sight stuff. I like the idea that being able to see ghosts, even a little bit, is somewhat common in Deadwood. an idea i thought was funny is that Oakley could just,,, hear the ghosts *really* well. hence why she can be such a skeptic while everyone else is like "WHAT THE FUCK IS THTATTTTTT". otherwise, her being a ghost beacon would be really funny. like she walks in a room and the ghosts in said room are able to interact with people/objects or talk more. finally, she could just have normal sight idk.

Around the current point in PD, she's just graduated high school. I think she ended up staying in town for one reason or another. I have a few ideas. I think by the time she graduated, she still didn't fully know what she wanted to do, hence why she stayed home. She's currently 19 ish, taking college courses online while she keeps and eye on her mother and the nearby ghosts. She probably still hangs around the upp who stayed around. Probably will come up with more stuff in the future.

OTHER STUFF: -She skateboards, though Deadwood is a lot of gravel roads, so it's kind of difficult -draws a bunch. if you didn't see my other post about her, she draws on her pants and whatnot. -she paints her nails on occasion before forgetting about them and letting them chip before she repaints them months later -she was that kid that always said "im leaving this town right after i graduate." (me core) -indecisive as hell -can be pretty sarcastic, to the point it gets annoying sometimes. she tones it down as she gets older.

TLDR: Girl with ghost sight moves to live with her grandma in 7th grade, realizes she has some sort of ghost sight, shenanigans ensue.

Meet Emi Lind

(made with this here picrew, could do with some adjustments with her hair and stuff, but y’all get the idea)

This is soon after her first arriving to NRC and being admitted along with Grim. The uniform’s a bit baggy and ill-fitted (good luck getting clothes from an all boys school to fit on a plus sized girl / woman).

There’s a few alternative looks in my head as time goes on and I kinda touch on them in the post but maybe I’ll detail those another time. But there’s a bit of a symbolic journey to be had here, from out of place and uncomfortable to being unapologetically herself.

Like the comfortable in her skin version would be much more of a metalhead or even a bit of a goth (as much as the school dress code allows, I suppose. I'm still not used to school uniforms being a thing). Probably a long skirt (or dress) as well, or those pants with chains on them. Might even wear a corset on occasion. Definitely like a choker-style necklace and things, perhaps some dragon earrings and things (unless she feels awkward about it because a certain heir apparent).

General information

She definitely struggles, a lot, after finding herself in Twisted Wonderland. (Honestly I really need to think of how she’d make it through some the story beats, because I’m not sure how exactly I could see some of the canonical events suiting her.)

It doesn’t help that she’s frankly terrible at asking for help, and keeps on thinking she needs to handle everything herself.

To add insult to injury, she’s kinda used to cruising academically. Suddenly, she doesn’t have the background knowledge and basic information that everyone else has. She’s definitely cried in class (and is absolutely mortified about it) just because she’s not used to struggling so much.

Plus, like, add in the whole stress to adjusting to everything that’s going on, only having guys as her peers, and basically living by herself all of a sudden - and looking after Grim, too.

In general, she’s very much a planner and an (over)thinker and not exactly spontaneous. She’s also somewhat shy, and the new environment definitely has her withdrawing at first. On the other hand, she’s pretty trusting and idealistic - she’s not totally naive, but she does want to believe the best in people unless proven otherwise, and has generally been quite sheltered in that regard so far.

Despite seeming pretty meek at first, she can be pretty stubborn and set on things she’s decided. She’s also pretty protective and very much ready to defend those close to her. One of the easiest ways to make her angry (which, generally, is pretty rare) is to be unjust to someone she cares about. (Yes she absolutely wishes she could throw hands with some folks in Jamil's life later on.)

She does also love some good banter with people she’s familiar with, and ribbing is definitely a thing with her and adeuce once they get more comfortable with each other.

She’s very much a fiddler and pretty nimble with her hands. She’ll be doodling in class, playing with her pen, or just in general fidgeting with her fingers. At some point, she gets her hands on a skein of yarn and just finger crochets it over and over while studying etc., before getting some more proper tools and things later.

Relationships with some of the cast

She tends to get frustrated with Ace and but heads with him, but once they’re more familiar with each other, it’s very much a bantering kinda relationship.

Has a pretty positive view on Deuce, even if she does think he’s exactly not the sharpest.

Her relationship with Grim can be a bit strained and rocky at times. He’s very chaotic compared to how she likes to do things, and sometimes it gets exasperating almost like another NRC duo we know. It does take her some time to really warm up to him and for them to start understanding each other.

She appreciates Malleus seemingly being someone chill if a little eccentric. However, she has quite the crisis when she realizes who he is. In general, she very much does not know how to deal with royalty or rich people or anything like that, and feels very much like a country bumpkin (for as much as she can remember of her life before Twisted Wonderland). It doesn't help that she's used to being pretty casual with people, and suddenly she has hierarchies and polite forms of address to consider (somehow, it doesn't seem like the teachers here would appreciate being addressed by first name).

She’s wary of Riddle’s temper and tries to keep to the rules while at Heartslabyul. Gets along with the rest of the Heartslabyul gang pretty well tho, and does warm up to Riddle eventually. (There may be a small part of her hoping to get to show him up in something academic one day, even if that's a bit of a pipe dream. She's smart, but not that invested.)

In general, she tends to be unsettled by the more abrasive or loud members of the cast, especially when she’s freshly arrived and still settling in. (See Floyd, Sebek, but also for example Leona and Vil.)

There's definitely the potential for some country bumpkin bonding with Epel. (Also like, with the Finnish elements in the Harveston event, I do wonder if Epel talking of things from his hometown would nudge some things in Emi's memory or just be comfortingly familiar. The way she'd ascend getting some good rye bread and gravlax. Plus they could totally make oven pancakes together.

Jamil doesn't immediately catch her eye, it’s more of a gradual thing (with, uhhh, sure some bumps on the way, more on that in a bit).

Once someone is in her “bad graces”, she'll keep her distance if possible. Basically, if you don’t pass the vibe check, she’ll remember it.

Some story beats

Did I already mention that she struggles to adjust? Because she sure struggles to adjust.

Riddle’s overblot? A lot of shouting, not great, but at least she wasn’t too directly involved.

Leona? Yikes.

Azul, though. He personally came after her & hers, and she sure remembers that. (Octoboy has his work cut out for him if he’d rather stop getting the side eye.)

Before book 4 and the Christmas break, the mood is very much “I swear, if we get yet another crisis, I’ll wring whoever’s responsible”. She’s kinda just desperate for a break. In some ways she’s doing a little better - she actually has adeuce and some other people she actually knows and has gotten more comfortable with, yet in other ways she’s kinda hanging on by a thread with all these crises and things coming her way.

(Visually, as well, I’m thinking that her hair is dyed red. So at this point, it’s been a few months, her roots are definitely showing, but boy has she had other things to worry about than her hair. At least she’s acquired a few nice jewelry pieces / accessories to feel a bit more like herself despite everything. Still, things are not great.)

And then comes book 4 🙃 She gets to know Jamil a bit more, and feels like they’re getting along. Like, a sensible, reliable person in this mess of a school? At least there’s a hint of a silver lining with the whole kidnapping enforced stay.

And then the truth comes to light. Which… doesn’t exactly sit too well with her, for obvious reasons.

Like, I’ve got this vague idea in my head of her being all welp, she thought Azul was bad, suddenly someone else has taken the bottom (top?) spot of folks she’s distasteful of.

Like, not to say she’s wholly unsympathetic, but she sure ain’t chill about the whole thing either.

So, after book 4, she isn’t exactly in the best state.

Jamil, however, does want to fix his reputation, and Emi’s part of that.

So yeah, like I said, very much scattered thoughts at this point. (I mean, I’ve got a few more bits and bobs on like her personality and habits but this is probably plenty enough for one post.) A cookie to anyone who reads this whole thing tho.

lil doodle of Morgan's Y4 appearance (or at least, his first appearance, which was during November-December)

ALSO!!! using this as an opportunity to post his updated lore. I didn't like his original lore at all, so I rewrote it practically from scratch.

It's going to be really long tho so here we go

Ok so I'll start off by saying Morgan's family is no longer cursed, nor are most of them dead, only Morgan being affected and not just randomly at some point of his life, but rather he was already born sickly (whenever it's somehow related with magic or some curse is still up for me to decide,but now, he's just a sick child whose illness (which is kinda fictional but resemblances anemia) while not terminal,does affect him quite a lot). I decided to get rid of that concept entirely and rewrite the dynamic Morgan has with his family, esp his uncle.

Other than scary, that experience was very isolating: he was sheltered all his life before going to Hogwarts, having absolutely no friends at all, which resulted in him developing no social skills at all. He wasn't particularly close to his family either, with perhaps an exception of his uncle, whowas more of his tutor/teacher.

Now, as I mentioned before, Morgan was born a very sickly child, having lots of heart and blood issues. He spent a good chunk of his childhood in bed and hospitals, constantly falling very ill, to the point of falling in coma/almost dying at least several times during that period of time. Fortunately, by the time he got into Hogwarts, his condition got manageable and he could live a relatively normal life, although he would often feel unwell, some days better, some days worse.

But being on verge of death so many times, especially as such a young child was a very scary and traumatizing experience for him, but a part of him grew accepting of death, coming to terms with the fact he probably won't live much shorter life compared to his peers (not talking about dying at 20-30, but rather ~50 now, a lil more if he gets lucky).

Whenever he wasn't in the hospital, he'd spent most of his time reading books, his favorite ones were horror novels and astronomy books, the later becoming a big interest of his. At around 8 years old, he started to write his own short stories, taking inspiration in the horror novels he read and they often were rather disturbing in nature. Or so his parents thought. He stopped sharing his writings with his family at some point bc he could tell they didn't like them much.

However, he does still live through the death of some of his relatives, witnessing one of them, which was of his uncle. After that, he started taking interest in necromancy (soon disappointed he can't really make someone truly alive again) and then it escalated to interest in dark arts in general. He'd read upon biographies of dark wizards and their crimes, but purely from theoretical standpoint. He found it interesting what pushes people to commit such terrible crimes.

When Morgan got to Hogwarts, his poor social skills didn't do him much good: he had a lot of troubles socializing, he was seen as weird and creepy, especially because of his interests. He had no friends there, being a "weird loner kid" throughout hus first few years there and even though he doesn't mind being alone due to being an intovert, he craved to find someone who'd understand him, somewhere to belong, a friend.

By the time of Y2/3, he came up wirh an idea of his own book: about a prisoner in Azkaban who reminisces his life, how from a kind-hearted teacher he became a dark arts user and necromancer. He started to do his research, especially about Azkaban and it's when he developed his strong distaste for the imprisonment system MoM imposed.

The more he researched, the more he was convinced on how nonsensical the system was: why lock up ALL criminals in the same place? Why lock up petty thieves, who perhaps only did that to support themselves due to economical issues with dangerous dark wizards, the worst kind of people on Earth? Why punish people who had no other choice so cruelly rather than help them? Why is there only one prison? Why not build rehabilitation centers? Why make people suffer for their crimes hoping they won't commit them again, rather than understand what pushed them to commit them in the first place and help prevent that from happening?

At some point, he approached one of Slytherin prefects, the one he knew was a son of a minister and aspired to become one day too, Joaquin Reedus, to ask him what he thought of idea of reforming the system to create rehabilitation centres for petty criminals, so they would have to stay in Azkaban of all places. Reedus was intrigued by this young boy and his idea and told him that he'll think about his proposal. And then, after a few days, decided to ask if he was interested in joining a group that opposes sone of ministry's ways (without mentioning the group's name).

Morgan, very young and naive, saw it as hid opportunity to find people who thought alike, people who would accept him, to find people he'd be able to call his friends. And so, he agreed.

The group was NOTME.

And unfortunately, that group was not as considerate as Morgan hoped they'd be.

The State Bird Initiative: Connecticut (#5) - Results

Results time for Connecticut! Had a lot of difficulty choosing birds for this state, but I finally did it, and here we are one week later! Now, post Tumblr poll and, we've got our chosen candidate. So, Tumblr, which bird did you choose as the State Bird of the Constitution State?

...Uh oh.

SBI Elected State Bird of Connecticut: Connecticut Warbler (Oporornis agilis)

Welp. We were bound to have a problem like this eventually, so it's better it happened on state number 5, rather than later. But, uh, yeah, Tumblr chose the Connecticut Warbler (Oporornis agilis) for the State Bird of Connecticut. A bird named after the state because it was first seen there by Alexander Wilson. That said...allow me to quote my original post here.

No. Look, I'm just gonna say this now: no. The Connecticut Warbler (Oporornis agilis) not only doesn't breed in the state (and possibly has never bred in the state), but it's pretty much not found there. Like, at all. This is not an easy warbler to get anywhere in its range in the US, but Connecticut isn't included in that distribution. "But lonelywretch," you scream at your computer screen, 'why is it called the Connecticut goddamn Warbler if it isn't even from the state?'...it's called the Connecticut Warbler because its describer, ornithologist Alexander Wilson, first saw it in a fly-by during migration while in Connecticut...They do fly through the state very occasionally during migration, but it's definitely not a reliable bird to count on for local birders there. Honestly...bad bird for the state.

In other words...

Yeah, uh, peeps, when I say you should probably read the context section in the poll, you should probably read the context section in the poll. That said, it's extremely possible that this was the meme choice for the 46 people who chose this species, but...yeah, I definitely disagree with this one, sorry. BUT...that's not how democracy works. This is, for good or for ill, the SBI Elected State Bird of Connecticut. However...that's not the personal choice for the initiative, but we'll get to that after the jump!

Keep in mind, by the way, that for all intents and purposes, the Tumblr-chosen State Bird of Connecticut is and will remain the Connecticut Warbler, unless another voting session is requested by enough people. The State Birds Initiative Personal Pick - Connecticut (#5)

State Bird of Connecticut (SBI): Tufted Titmouse (Baeolophus bicolor)

Y'know, I was genuinely surprised that people didn't go for this one for the lulz, but hey, I'm not terribly good at predicting the ways and wiles of the internet. But as time went on, I sort of thought about it more, and this may be a solid bird for the State Bird of Connecticut for a few reasons. The Tufted Titmouse (Baeolophus bicolor) is an extremely common small songbird in the northeastern United States, very commonly found in backyards and on birdfeeders in the state and elsewhere. I originally chose them because they have that crest that makes them look like a classic macaroni, which you may remember as the satirical character referenced in Yankee Doodle, Connecticut's national anthem. And yeah, I think that's a good initial reason...but I also see this as an interesting opportunity.

See, the other thing I said about Connecticut is that it's a diverse state with unique perspectives and unique people. And an interesting way of expressing that could be through the Tufted Titmouse itself. This is a bird, I'd mentioned, that practices kleptotrichy, the plucking of hair from mammals to use in nests. As a result, they're also a bird that responds positively to provided nest material, especially if it's made of animal hair. That means that everybody can comb their dog or cat, put their hair in a box outside, and let the titmice use it for nesting material. It also means that, knowing Nutmeggers, there's opportunity for some really creative hair and wool offerings, and unique nests. Hell, it could be an excuse to Nutmeggers to put up more nest boxes for birds in general, fostering the breeding of multiple species in the state. Basically, the Tufted Titmouse could be a road to foster bird love in Connecticut, and still could serve as a symbol for kids all over the state. That's my pitch, and let's move onto the next entry!

SBI State Game Bird of Connecticut: American Black Duck (Anas rubripes)

As I said in the description for this species in the original post, the American Black Duck should get some attention! Two things about this choice. First, game birds are members of the Galloanserae, meaning they aren't just chickens, turkeys, and quails. They're also ducks, mergansers, geese, swans, and members of order Anseriformes. So, ducks are on the table. Coots and rails are too, as they're classified as game birds by the United States government, as are a few other species. In fact, I was originally going to give this space to crows, but the black duck was a better fit. That said...well the second point here is that this isn't necessarily the best state for the American Black Duck (Anas rubripes) as a choice for State Game Bird. But it still needs attention, as I said. Get more context for this choice in the original post, but yeah: the choice of Game Bird for a state that doesn't have a lot of hunting (yeah, that's why this choice was so difficult) is the American Black Duck!

State Raptor of Connecticut (SBI): Sharp-shinned Hawk (Accipiter striatus)

Again, check the original post for elaboration on this one, but I think this tiny raptor is a good choice for one of our smallest states! It also works, in my opinion, because it's a species of needed focus in Connecticut, and a relatively difficult species to see while still being present all over the state, meaning people would be looking...within reason. And yeah, this one's a harder fight for acceptance, since it eats other birds, but I think it's good to broaden focus a bit. But that said...why not the Osprey (Pandion halieetus)?

Obviously, I made a case for the Osprey, and a pretty good one, I think. But frankly...other states should have the Osprey. And most of us probably have an idea of the state I mean, but we'll cross that bridge...eventually. Point is, the Osprey is great and one of my favorites...but the Sharp-shinned needs Connecticut a lot more. We'll come back to the seahawk pretty soon, though, and proabably go through this fight all over again.

SBI's Big Fifty - Connecticut: Blue-winged Warbler (Vermivora cyanoptera)

Well, this one's a no-brainer. This is one of the most sought-out warblers for birdwatchers and birders alike, and is always a treat to see or hear. This is absolutely the right choice here, especially considering its population declines across its rane necessitating focus on the species. Plus, there's also its two famous relatives I barely mentioned previously, but they're a big conservation focus in their own ways. This is a bird to look for in any states, but since Connecticut forms a significant portion of its breeding population, why not here! Outside of that, just like the original post, I don't have too much else. Big Fifty choice presented! Onto the last category.

State Conservation Focus of Connecticut (SBI): Roseate Tern (Sterna dougallii)

Hold on, what's this? Coming from outside the ring with a foldable metal chair in hand, it's the Roseate Tern (Sterna dougalli)! What a...tern of events! OK, sorry for that last quip, couldn't stop it. Anyway, this is a species I haven't brought up! To be clear, I really, really thought about putting the Snowy Egret or Osprey here, but to be honest, the former barely breeds in CT, and the latter I'm still saving for another state. Another contender, the Piping Plover (Charadrius melodus) kind of has to be saved for another state or two, and a lot of other birds fall under the same fate. So...why the Roseate Tern? Well, to be honest, this is only one representative of a larger group of birds: shorebirds in general.

See, CT has a number of regions of conservation concern, and birds associated with them. But the shoreline goes mostly ignored for Connecticut, despite it having a fairly long one for such a small state. And, considering the state's deep link with nautical matters, it really should have its coast get some more focus. So, the Roseate Tern is actually meant to represent the shorelines of CT. Plus, the state hosts one of the larger breeding populations for the species in the USA, although not the largest, to be fair. But CT doesn't have the largest breeding population of...well, any bird species, it would seem. So, better to choose a species with a decent population size than anything else. Representing Connecticut's coastlines is the Roseate Tern, a pescivorous beach-dweller with a surprising amount of color, a fairly significant historical tie to the United Kingdom, and a tendency to be overlooked in favor of larger and more famous birds. Which, when you put it that way...yeah, this works.

With that last bird, we move onto a new state...and a potential future problem. Yeah, uh, the Connecticut Warbler mishap has made me realize the "no breeding population" rule needs to be more strictly enforced for the sake of this project. So, from here on out, if it doesn't breed in the state, it ain't a candidate for the State Bird, no matter ~~who its daddy is~~ what its name is. So, yeah, that adjustment should help matters. Plus, I'll seriously consider other similar cases moving forward. But, for now, the next state doesn't have that problem! No birds named after the Puritan State! See you soon, in Massachusetts!

im so scared right now. this is the first time ive posted on here in a WHILE so my artstyle is :skull: completely different. i plan on revamping this whole uhh profile. ill still keep up the artwork though so my growth can be visible :- )

so this is a part of my blue diamond au i was doodling. i dont plan on making any comics or anything just some little silly pictures cause i like that kind of thing.

so i kind of felt like keeping all their previous personalities, i dont like when they take after the one that they were replacing, but thats just a personal preference. im just gonna infodump lmao

yellow - since shes more of an easily aggrivated one and has a superiority complex, i thought instead of controlling gems like white does, she could paralyze them, so the finale keeps its effect while still being in character. her pearl is still the same, likely a different outfit or form though, i havent decided yet.

pink - she's still childish and tempermental, but it's more forgiven due to her rank, and it's less because of her responsibilities. her old pearl, pink pearl, was still given to white, however white also already had a pearl. she just has two now. ( it is not our regular pearl, its a new one with a new design ill give. ), she's probably the one who needs them the most, and they will NOT be controlled, pink pearl will just be rejuvinated and given a new form <3 more on that later. our pearl does not exist in this au, or she does, i guess, but since our pearl is just the "default" settings, i feel like THIS pink would give her a form that actually matches her, and due to the different style of her being raised, she felt less remorse for damaging pink pearl. still remorse, just less so due to her desensitization and her having to shatter gems with her role.

white - this was mentioned in the artwork but my handwriting is sloppy so ill repeat it. she controls all the gems in her court, because she wants perfection. this includes the gems of different colors, for example.. our peridot, our peridot WILL be a different gem, and she'll probably be a light pink naturally, white when controlled. during future all of whites court will be freed. these gems are controlled from screens, like the ones in yellows room in SU:F. most of her gems remain idle until necessary, but her pearls would assist her in controlling them because. That's a lotta work. she likely has a lot of different gadgets to figure this out cause, yeah, the gempire is big but . . i made this up like an hour ago so cut me some slack.

blue - blue will still be emotional, and that's likely a causation of her rebellion. her pearl is the same as hers in the canon, she did not hit her like pink did. their relationship is still toxic, and like rose in canon, she was trying to change. she just failed. while pink affected the gems because she didn't realize the power she held, and never finished what she started ( spinel being abandoned... she's a little freak for that honestly. also commanding pearl to stay silent, (i don't think that was intentional, i think she just felt like it was a normal request, and didn't realize how much power she still held. that could be debated though cause "for my last order to you as a diamond"..) i think blue affected them emotionally. guilt tripping, self pity, and 2-D thinking. blue was probably more prone to shattering, but would also be very hypocritical. she could not see from the rebel gems perspective EVEN THOUGh she's trying to recruit them. to her, she just wants to win.

I really wanted to draw some responses to this but since I've got a feeling I'm gonna be busy in these weeks running up to Christmas and new year you'll just have to have some facts. However I can offer this doodle of baby Caleb and Animal, for some reason this didn't upload in the first post I made with him?

-He's literally vine energy, so many vines fit him so well (Kid Caleb: "Lookat all does chickens!" // Older Caleb "Road work ahead? Uh, yeah, I sure hope it does"). I can go on but I don't wanna fill this with too many vine quotes, I've been wanting to draw a little comic of kid Caleb and Floyd to one vine but that'll likely have to be a newyear thing I work on

-Gas station sushi is his life and blood

-As a child he tried to eat things he wasn't supposed to, a lot. Dirt, flowers, coins, guitar plectrums, rocks, bracelet beads. Floyd more often than not spent his time trying to pry something nonedible out of Caleb's hands when he was little

-No thoughts, head empty, only vibes

-He will and has followed a snail around the theatre for three hours

-Haircutt?? Hairdressers?? No thanks. He's terrified of hair dressers

-He was a bit of a crybaby as a kid

-He likes to collet shiny rocks/crystals and give them to people he likes

-All of his good genes went to his looks and his singing voice Caleb has a total of three braincells, those braincells being the ones that successfully ate dirt when he was a kid

-He can sleep standing up

-Is a natural on the bass and the drums (Animal was excited to show him how to play them) but naturally he leans more towards the guitar

-As well as playing the bass Caleb can also play a ukulele, harmonica and acoustic guitar

-He likes kids, finds them easy going but they can stress him out sometimes

-Talk to him about literally anything and he'll just sit there, you could talk about rock formations, and he'll sit there nodding and humming. He will not understand a word you're saying but he'll listen

-I made a doodle about this in the post I made with Caleb's design but when he was a baby he was terrified of the rest of the band, except for Animal. It took him a while to warm up to them, but he loves them now, the band probably tease him about it sometimes, but they never mean any ill will

-Mama's boy and isn't ashamed about it, it took him ages to call Floyd pa, and when he did call him Pa it was probably right in the morning when the band got up and Floyd didn't even realise until minutes later

-I don't know if I'll make this cannon or not but I've been entertaining the idea of Caleb having some form of stage fright. He's totally fine preforming with his parents and the band and even to some of the other muppets, but to a live audience and infront of a camera?? This might sound silly but I've had the idea that Caleb first goes on stage to preform alongside his folks when he's 13 - Floyd and Janice where super excited as was the rest of the band, Caleb got many pats on the back cuz he was "offically part of the band!". While the band are waiting to go on stage Caleb peaks a glance at the audience through the curtains and he realises just how big the audience is, how many eyes are going to be on him, how - if he messes up - the WHOLE world is going to see on their TV's. Then right as Bobo gives the band the go ahead to go on stage Floyd turns around to Caleb to ask if he's ready to rock, only to see that Caleb is gone - leading to the band having to quickly improvise on stage cuz Caleb isn't there to play or sing his parts. Again this is all a loose maybe idea

-His favourite animals are snails, but he also likes sloths, manatees, penguins and cats

-Sunflowers are his favourite flowers

-He likes it when people braid his hair, he finds it therapeutic

-Out of the band he probably vibes with Pepe and Rizzo the most

-Totally chill with having his nails painted he's down for a spa day
