Me when, when, whenâŚ
Me when my AP Human Geo teacher hates me so much. I was supposed to get a 90% extra credit on a 75 point assignmentâŚ
DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I GOT? DO YOU KNOW???
She gave me 10%. Iâm gonna crash out.
I literally talked to her about this, and she was all like, âWell, youâre not the one who wrote it..â
We did it as a group on a singular sticky note. Of course one person wrote on it as we all collaborated for the answer.
Also my three other tablemates got 90%.
They got 90%, and I only got 10%, what did I do? What did I do to make her hate me so much, holy carp
#fears talks#fuuuuuck this class#i hate school#i have a d in her class over this#i literally did the math to do the least amount of work possible#fuck my life#holy carp

hey guys so I just started reading Flatland by Edwin A. Abbott and OMG AHSBNSBSBSNSNBSHZHSHDBFHGGHFHGRJ2KSHSBSNSK AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I LOVE THINKING ABOUT THE RELATIVITY BETWEEN DIMENSIONS!!!!!!
#probably the nerdiest thing i will ever read in my entire life but I AM SO HAPPY#Its the unabridged and corrected 1992 republication btw. if you wanna get specific#the only book in which i have actually decided to read the introductory notes and i do NOT regret it because the editor's one IMMEDIATELY#brought up the âoh but surely the second dimension has thickness how else would flatlanders see anythingâ AND GAVE A REALLY GOOD ANSWER.#which i cannot tell you here. bc it is several paragraphs long and idk how i would shorten it. i would hit tag limit. if thats a thing.#anyways. I'm only a little bit into the first part which basically explains how Flatland works as a society so i haven't even gotten to the#sphere yet but OH MAN I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO EXCITED ABOUT A ROUND OBJECT IN MY LIFE#IM LOSING IT OVER THIS BOOK AAAA :D#me: im so glad i dont have a math class during my senior year! now i dont have to learn anything math-related!#also me: but what if i started studying a complex and almost entirely theoretical part of geometry#bc YEAH i didn't just buy this book bc of gravity falls. I BOUGHT IT BC IVE BEEN RESEARCHING THE 4TH DIMENSION WOOOOOOO!!!!!#one thing i will say i dont like. introductory note suggests the the 4th dimension might be time. this is ok tho bc its followed up with#also saying that time is not a spatial dimension and exist across the 0 1st 2nd and 3rd dimensions which. that epuld mean we live in 4d#already. so. i was worried for a second but THANK YOU THANK YOU OH MY GOD PEOPLE TRYING TO SAY âOH THE 4TH DIMENSION IS TIMEâ I HATE THAT SO#MUCH AAAAGGHHHH AT LEAST RECOGNIZE ITS NOT SPATIAL!!! TIME IS NOT A SPATIAL DIMENSION!!!!!!! IF IT WAS THEN 4D TRAVEL AND TIME TRAVEL WPULD#BE FHE SAME THING AND DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY MUCH COOLER POSSIBILITIES WPULD BE THROWN AWAY IF THAT WAS THAT CASE!!!!! AND. AND. IF THE 4TH#DIMENSION IS TIME. THEN WHATS THE 5TH?? 6TH?? YPU CANT KEEP GOINF ON FOREVER LIKE THAT. YPURE JUST MAKEING MORE 3D WORLSS WITH STUFF IN#ADDITION TO TIME. INTERESTING BUT THAY IS NOT ABOHT HIGHRER DIEMSBSJSNSBAKAJSHDHDHHDHDHDJ#sorry for the rant. jsut. agh i want a spatial 4th dimension. i dont think tesseracts exist through time that would just be an aged cube#anyways yeahhh i love the 4th dimension. new hyperfixation or new special interest? ill have to wait and see. anyways i have done it i have#an oc whos 4 dimensional now and she is the coolest ever i love her#but yeah this book is sosososo good i am literally gonna bring it to school to read instead of draw bc i would lose it if i didn't#10/10 would recommend to anyone who wants to Think

W. Why did they hire a white teacher to an african american studies clas? [Altough maybe if she, y'know, actually studied the topic it wouldn't be so bad]
Even better question, why whould someone NOT KNOW what INTERSECTIONALITY IS in SOCIAL STUDIES CLASS??? HOW THE FUCK DID THEY EVEN ENROLL INTO IT?!? huH??????
lol she was nice but she got on my NERVES sometimes lol. white queer swiftie thats all im gonna say.
theres some things you lose when you have a white teacher teaching anyyyy kind of social studies class. the teacher cant speak from their experiences of being black, and sometimes it fuckin feels like the student's gotta enlighten them on topics that they're barely having the words to piece together (BECAUSE THEY'RE A KID).
like i knew what intersectionality was from a super young age. i knew there would be special challenges i would face because i was a black girl but i didnt know the term for it nor was i taught that was a Thing until i was in high school. i was like a 9th grader and i was like ohhh yeah yep. but for some people this was just a new thing they had to learn for a grade n that's it. toss the word right out their brain after they take a test bc it's not gonna be something they think about out side of school.
i fuckin hate public school.
#d talks#ask#this one social studies experience rlly stuck w me. i was in 9 or 10 grade and we were watching a pretty graphicly explained holocaust vide#in class. when the class was over everyone left however highschoolers do talking w friends running to their next class etc BUT#there was a jewish girl that was heavily sobbing at the table i was at. and i was like holy shit do u need anything but i couldnt stay too#long cause i had another class to go to. and the teacher came up to her and was like that was rough huh. DUDE WHAT THE FUCK. NO SHIT IT WAS#ROUGH. and i was just extreemly fucking. GUH i dont have the words to describe what i was feeling. it just wasnt fair. privledge n shit.

as badly as i want to avoid my mom she is making it extremely difficult
#i feel really bad that im so angry at her and she doesnt even know it#but my entire living situation is making me miserable right now and its her fault#she charges me $50 in rent every week and shes increasing it to $125 a week at the end of the month#the only reason this is happening is because she FORCED ME to drop out and the only other alternative was that i had to work full time + pa#rent.............. but like at my job even if im working 40 hrs a week ill only be making abt $900 a month#so i will barely have anything leftover for myself after rent#and i cannot get a second job bc i frankly can not handle it at all + what hours would i even work#and my mom refuses to understand that the reason i had to drop out is bc i am so depressed and so suicidal and i just dont want to live#she doesnt acknowledge that im disabled and severely mentally ill#every time i try to talk about my mental health she treats me like im such a burden to her even though i literally never tell her anything#personal anymore bc she just doesnt listen or care#ALSO she FORCED ME to move across the country and transfer schools when i really did not want (hence why i flunked all of my classes bc i d#not care) but like. everything thats wrong in my life rn is bc i do not want ot live where im living and theres no way for me to go back to#texas and also i dont rly wanna live w my dad either#but anyways. this whole situation would be better if my mom was using me paying rent as an actual lesson in adult respinsibility#but it's really just a punishment because i cant function the way she wants me to#and im over it#so fucking over it why am i such a pussy why cant i just die

honest to god this is about to be what's going to happennext tuesday for my art instructor. sorry you aren't getting shit from me
#still pissed qbout her giving us the actual rundown of the project tuesday and telling us we had the entire#break for thanksgiving to start working on it despite the fact that you aren't supposed to give work over break apparently#and now making it due on tuesday. honestly. as long as I have a D in the class it's fine#I need to make pieces for my portfolio but it's the fact that she thinks the class is being lazy when she literally is giving us next to#nothing in regards kf time to work on our FINAL PROJECTS. and she wants them to be great#sorry ma'am I have a small word or two to say on your course evaluation#and it's also the fact that she's a student as well. not a professor. SHE SHOULD UNDERSTAND ATLEAST SOME NO????#not to mention all of her assignments are extremely vague. like yes jts an art class but#when you write about the stuff you want to see you shouldn't make it sound like a riddle#im just so mad sorry

watching people interact with each other l i k e
#idk is it just me or are âirl social interactions extremeeeeeelyyyyy e x h a u s t i n g#e s p e ci a ll y if you have to talk to a bunch of strangers who are somehow getting along really well despite it being their first meeting#but wellllllllllll⌠ig the reason why im even thinking of this is bc#the beginning of the year always never fails to bring back memories of orientation camps. m a n i hated those#and the things that those camps always have in common are⌠1) that iâd be unable to gel well with my groupmates in the orientation camps#and 2) that the orientation group leaders always stick close to me to force me to join in on conversations i want no part of aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa#i think the overnight camp over the first 3 days of school in. like. 2013 was the worst#bc 1: it was a new school. none of us knew anyone else. and we had to stay at school overnight for some reason during that orientation camp#and 2: (idk about the born-males but) the skirt wearers were all forced to sleep in the (unairconditioned) hall together#with no dividers or segregated corners or anything. just the walls of the hall. nothing else to lean on or anything#so most of them. like. slept in the middle of the hall next to the friends they made that day.#but no. not me. i made no friends so i found a little cozy spot under some list of top academic scorers or sth. peace and quiet#and the best part is that the orientation group leaders didnât sleep in the hall with us soooo i wasnât forced to talk to anyone yayyyyyyyy#ngl sometimes i think back to my days at that school and wonder why the heck it was so weird#like even the teachers were weird. throwback to my then-club advisor who called the number i specifically asked her not to callâŚ#which set off a series of events that led to *the* incident that caused my parentsâ divorce#thank you maâam your unnecessary efforts were very much unappreciated </3#hmmmmmm but she wasnât the only weird teacher at that school though. sadly.#like i had this home econs teacher who insisted that the lights be turned off while we cooked#a n d scolded us for rinsing our cooking utensils and stuff bc âthe previous class had already washed it!â#she also made us write half a page-long reflections on what we cooked that day in class which was bonkers tbh#there was this literature teacher that made a â¨t o n⨠of shipping jokes about my classmates and inappropriate jokes in general#and this other teacher who p much told me âok sure you have trauma. but [other guy] had experienced worse trauma and look he turned out okâ#uh sorry maâam no. 2 i had already heard his story from him but i donât think itâs your place to talk about someone elseâs trauma like thatâ#and g o d there was also this time my classâs groupchat got some of my classmates into a whole bunch of trouble#bc some guy leaked the most problematic of the messages to someone else from another class (who then snitched to a teacher)#man. i do not miss school at all. too many people to talk to; too little time to myself#i do wonder how my former schoolmates are doing though⌠i hope that theyâll have a good 2k24 if they can~~~~~#ok i think thatâs enough of a trip down memory lane for one week. man. i feel old

musings on insects, isolation, and how much can change when you're not looking
#i started this like a month ago#and finished it today because i was laughing at how much the sentence 'i'm going bug hunting with my partner' would kill pre-college me#but yeah. i'm still learning to accept that i'm not alone anymore.#learning to love insects was easy. it's a lot harder to learn to love myself#in the wise words of a fic my friend wrote: it sucks so bad sometimes. but even when it sucks it's better.#personal#insects#also all of the scenes in the middle two pages are specific memories that have contributed the most to why neither of those things are true#1. meeting my partner in an entomology class i took on a whim#2. the fateful 8 hour dnd conversation on a field trip for that class that started our friendship#3. trip to a museum (i also could have drawn the part of that trup where i got to hold a cockroach but i don't have a picture of it)#(and i really like that picture of her)#4. seeing a cockroach on the way to class and both of us yelling 'oh my god a little guy!'#5. working at an insect collection together (oh god the things our boss has probably heard)#6. seeing a boxelder bug on the way to see a movie together (we always saw insects when we spent time together)#7. seeing fireflies for the first time when i visited her over the summer :D

Every semester, I feel like my instant thought is always "I am dropping every class. They're all horrible." but by the end usually end up really liking it so I really just need to ignore my first impressions, but god looking at the syllabi really destroys my mental state
#yet i dont remember liking the first class i took for my one major and im not excited for it this time either đ#even tho ive spent the most time around that prof cumulatively i still dont really think i like him all that much đđđ#my department sucks because theres only 2 profs and the one sucks so bad that she has a 1 star review#and the other prof who i feel lukewarm about goes so far as to tell his students to avoid classes with her#so im really stuck between a rock and a hard place đđđ#i think he just gets on my nerves too easily. and he was on the abroad trip i went on so i do feel like ive gotten closer#but like you know those people who the dynamic feels very one sided with? thats him for me. i think its just a cultural difference tho tbh#but otherwise i think my other classes will be fine :D#just feeling a bit đ§ rn bcs i have to make an introduction vid for my online class and I DONT WANNNAAAAAAAAAAA#also i miss all my profs from my prev semester :<#i think i talked about it on here but ahhhh my one linguistics prof she was so nice#but it haunts me bcs she asked if she could use one of my papers as an example paper in the future#and i was of course very honored....#BUT ALSO THE PAPER I WROTE USED F1 DRIVERS AS EXAMPLES LMAO#so im so glad that the first half of the 2023 season is now just a time capsule in that class#like literally a time capsule where you can exactly tell which era it was bcs i used Nyck as an example đ#well anyways wish me luck i hate starting things it's like trying to cram yourself into a new skin or something#and then when youre very pleased and comfortable with it all its then over :(#catie.rambling.txt

clumsy!reader is still bad at yoga and yoga instructor!rafe wants to keep her all to himself...
18+ mdni!
c/w: rafe being touchy & blatantly flirting w her, him getting jealous, slightly suggestive, reader being oblivious
wc: 1.9k
idk if anyone missed him but he's back & better than ever !! (after a small vacation that ended up being almost 3 months :D)
some parts are more or less inspired by this, this, this & this ask
part 1
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Rafe is in the midst of helping someone fix their posture when he hears the gates of heaven opening in the form of a melodious giggle chiming from the back of the room. He lifts his head in order to detect the source of such a vibrant sound; noticing that his favorite client is currently directing her attention towards some guy next to her. Â
The joyful expression sheâs sporting makes a scowl paint over his features. Why is this random man making her laugh like that? Â
âYeah, you got it. Just keep workinâ on it though,â he quickly dismisses the person he was helping before stomping over to find her practically lying on the floor with the guyâs hands on her calf, along with his mat pulled far too close to hers for Rafeâs liking. Â Â
âI think you should bend it more here, right? Iâm honestly not too sure,â the guy chuckles as he tries to figure out what sheâs doing wrong. Â
âNo cause I have no idea how everyone else makes it seem so easy. Itâs so hard to get it right, I feel so stupid half the time,â she complains with a huff, not even noticing Rafe looming within earshot. Â
âSeriously, I thought this was a beginnerâs class but it feels like some of these poses are meant for like literal pros,â he continues with a shake of his head.Â
âI know, right?â another peal of laughter bubbles from her throat as she shifts into a seated position, giving up altogether. Â
âEverything alright?â Rafe doesnât mean for his tone to come out so clipped but thereâs something in the way the guyâs touching her so freely that makes his hands curl into fists.Â
He keeps reminding himself over and over again that this is a client, which means that he canât just smash his face inâ no matter how severely his fingers are itching for it right about now. Â
âOh, I was just trying to help her with this,â the guy explains in tandem with her head turning to look at Rafe. She seems startled. Â
âWell, why donât you focus on your own form for a change? I mean, sâkinda my job to help her, yeah?â he scoffs, making the guy halt his movements in a state of surprise before he's lifting his hands up in apology. Â
âDamn, sorry dude,â he mutters out from under his breath while Rafe merely glares at him with the words stay professional bouncing around his skull. Â
A tense silence follows, making her grow quiet while she takes slow sips from her water bottle as a distraction; wondering why he seems so bothered to see her talking to someone else. Â
However, when he finally turns his attention towards her, she shrugs it off as him merely having a bad day because it seems like the only logical explanation to her. Because at the end of the day, him being jealous makes as much sense to her as her math homework in high school.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Rafe is convinced that the universe is purposefully trying to poke and prod at his limits, giving his carefully curated facade opportunities to crackâ allowing for the borderline psychotic aspects of his personality to breathe through the crevices. Because only a week later, Rafe sees her entering the gym with another guy she seems to be awfully friendly with.Â
âThatâs crazy, I donât even wanna know what Kie said to that,â she rolls her eyes jokingly while heâs showing her something on his phone. Â
âYeeeah, guess you could say she wasnât the biggest fan,â he laughs in a carefree manner, raking a hand through his disheveled, sand-colored hair. Â
âFor some reason Iâm not surprised,â she mutters out before she notices Rafe standing in the hallway leading to the yoga class. âOh, gotta go so Iâm not late. See you after?âÂ
âYeah, Iâll be here. Think Pope said heâs gonna join me for leg day, so weâll see if Iâm still standing when you get back. But you have fun,â he offers her a wave before walking away towards the locker rooms.Â
And at last, her warm eyes meet Rafeâs. âHi,â her voice is soft, nearly shy; a stark contrast to her demeanor only a few seconds ago. Â
âHey,â he greets her in a casual manner, although his mind is somewhere else entirely. âSo, that your boyfriend or?â he tries to approach the subject with nonchalance because itâs not necessarily any of his business. Â
Heâs not even sure why heâs askingâ keeps telling himself that heâs just curious and tries to appear friendly by making small talk. After all, some clients have given him feedback on his apparently intimidating aura, claiming they donât always have the courage to ask for his help because they get anxious heâll judge them. Therefore, it's something heâs been trying to work on. Â
âWhat? Oh, JJ? No, hes just a friend. He goes to the gym here, so I usually just tag along with him. Free ride, right?â she answers with a lighthearted tone. Â
âRight. Yeah,â he scratches at the back of his neck, contemplating whether or not to ask the next question since he doesnât want to overstep any boundaries. However, thereâs something deep in his stomach that grumbles at the prospect of her being in a relationship, makes him feel nearly insane and ultimately, makes the decision for him.Â
âYou, uh, you got one?â Â
âWhat?â she asks, features coated in confusion.Â
âA boyfriend, I mean,â his gaze is unwavering, eager. Â
âOh, umâ no, I donât. Why?â her puzzled eyes flit over the lines of his countenance, seemingly trying to grasp onto his motives.Â
âJust, uhâŚwondering. I mean, heâd be kind of a dick if heâs not drivinâ you here himself,â he shrugs, a strange sort of relief making his shoulders feather-light when she lets out an airy giggle in response. Â
âYeah, honestly sometimes wish I had one just so he could drive me around and stuff,â she jokes while they begin to pad over to the class.Â
âYou donât have your license yet?â he raises his brows in surprise. Â
âNo, I do. I just donât really like driving. I donât know why but itâs so stressful to me. Usually try to avoid it as much as I can,â she elaborates while gathering her hair away from her face and securing the strands into a ponytail.  Â
âOh yeah? Well, if you ever need a ride home just let me know, alright?â he says, fighting the urge to tuck a loose tendril that has managed to escape the restraints of her hair tie back behind her ear. Â
âReally? Thatâs so sweet of you! But, um, wouldnât wanna be a bother,â the hesitation is present in her voice. Â
âNah, couldnât bother me if you tried,â he promises, wishing they could talk for longer. However, the ocean of people flooding inside the room behind them cuts their conversation short. Â
âYouâre just saying that,â she dismisses him with a playful scoff.Â
âMâbeing for real. Youâre my favorite face around here. Plus, makes my job more fun when youâre always stumblin' on your feet,â he canât help his mouth from twisting upwards at the way her eyes round out in response to his words.Â
âShut up. Iâm gonna go set down my mat now, before thereâs only space right in front of you,â she offers him a giddy smile that makes him grin like an idiot. Then, sheâs tiptoeing away from him in order to locate a vacant spot.Â
- - - - - - - - - - - - -
Rafe has become awfully familiar with these newfound feelings of fondness for the girl whoâs by far the most helpless little bambi heâs ever encountered. He thinks she should honestly pick another hobby at this point, because maybe yoga just isnât meant for her. However, heâd never say any of that out loud because even the thought of not seeing her getting all flustered while she loses her balance whenever heâs near makes him feel physically unwell. Â
Heâs not entirely sure whether her apparently oblivious brain simply hasnât caught onto the fact that he so clearly has a thing for her, or if sheâs well aware and merely chooses to be a tease about it. Nonetheless, the moment she walked into the class today, he could feel his workout shorts tightening and all sheâd offered him was a simple smile. Â
And now sheâs right in front of him, all tangled limbs and pretty eyes blinking up at himâ practically begging for his guidance and for him to put his hands all over her (something she doesnât seem to mind all that much). Â
âYou put this cute little set on just for me, huh?â he rasps out while his thumb smooths over the bubblegum pink fabric; feeling it out as he pinches the stretchy fabric between his fingertips, making her breath get caught in her throat in the process. Â
âOh, umâ just wanted toâŚtry out some new stuff I ordered. You think itâs cute?â she stares at him with something bashful glimmering in her eyes.Â
âMhm. Fits you nice,â he mumbles out as his gaze lingers on the way the tight material wraps around her figure, not leaving much to the (his) imagination. He bets itâd be so easy to just rip right through these cute yoga pants and pull her closer with a firm grip on her hips before burying his face between her plush thighs.
âThanks,â she peeps out, flustered. Â
He tries to shake off the improper, filthy thoughts with a clear of his throat when he gets caught staring at her for a little too long. Â
âSo, you actually wanna bend your leg on the other side of your body on the mat and support your foot with your left arm not the right one. Easy to get them confused,â he chuckles as she shifts her position according to his instructions as best as she can.Â
âLike this?â she seeks reassurance with a soft tone. Â
âYeah, just like that, Bambi. Good job,â his mouth quirks up some while her mind begins to cloud over in response to his low cadence. Sheâs not entirely sure what exactly it is about him that makes her feel so fuzzy on the inside, but she thinks itâs nice, thinks she wants to always have him this close to herâ wants him even closer.
She doesnât remember the last time sheâs had such an intense crush on someoneâ slowly turning into a crazy person by each second of not knowing whether heâs merely flirting with her for his own amusement or because heâs actually into her. However, she thinks sheâs embarrassed herself in front of him far too many times for the latter to be true in any reality. Â
âThen need you to move your right hand here,â he adjusts her form with a grip on her wrist while he maneuvers her to his liking; tingles erupting all over the skin he skims over with his fingertips. Â
Her head is spinning. Â
âSee? Knew you could do it. Feels nice, hm?â he rumbles out, letting his hands rest on her shoulders for support, despite the position not really requiring it. Â
She hums her response because she doesnât trust for any coherent words to stumble out of her mouth at the moment, all the while Rafe is desperately trying to not pay attention to the nearly painful situation in his pants.

I like to think about what if the Kaminoans just, fucked all the way up and made the clones telepaths on purpose.
Kamino is in the Rishi maze, the equivalent of total buttfuck nowhere. This is like a cattle processing plant in rural Montana manufacturing an order for Shenzhen as outlined by a third party intermediary from Monaco who keeps contact with neither production nor âclientâ and nobodyâs first language is Basic. Jedi are like, totally psychic right? Right. Psychic army for psychic clients, sounds right, checks out. There are whole ass telepathic alien species out there, some of which are also Jedi. Why would they want NON-psychic clones. Get it done, Tally Ho or Nala Says or whatever her name is. Chop chop.
Cue like seven years into production and the Kaminoan project leads are starting to get some⌠inklingsâŚ. that maybe some of the deliverable specs were perhaps not so much well-researched as based off cross-galactic hearsay some underpaid analysts pulled off space reddit. This is a business, okay? Youâre not gonna make profit manufacturing two million units of fucking anything if you treat it like a luxury product, but especially not if the product has goddamn childhood development & socialization needs. Of fucking course some shit maybe slipped through the cracks. What are we supposed to fucking do now, Lama goddamn Sue sir, tell the Jedi or the pickled fucking Sith that oopsie woopsie, we got the specs wrong half a decade in and have to start over again?
No. No we are not. We are going to lie our fucking semi-aquatic asses off, is what weâre gonna do, and so will you clones if you know whatâs good for you. NONE of you are fucking psychic, and you never were. Got that? Understood?
Fast forward to Jedi pickup D-Day and every time anyone with a lightsaber gets within aural biosystem of choice distance the clones immediately start loudly and dutifully Having Conversations.
Hello Commander Sir, It Is I, Trooper McSoldierClone, What A Weather It Is Today, Ha Ha? Over. Yes Indeed McTrooper One Two Three Four, I Am Agree, Now Here Is An Order To Follow Which I Am Vociferously Giving You, Acknowledge Orally, Over. Every clone making rock-hard sweating eye contact like donât fuck it up as they mentally chant encouragement and script notes and jeering performance feedback at each other. Cadets trooping to fucking speech practice to learn speaking out loud with all the enthusiasm and skill of the average white suburban Floridian teenager taking their fifth mandatory Spanish 1 class. The jedi are like damn these poor asylum grown freaks are so unsocialized and uncomfortable around us, Their Owners, this is so tragic and horrid and unfortunate and meanwhile every clone standing silently in formation is mentally spectating the 400-person telepathic tetris team sport they invented with the same vibes as a football world cup back alley street party complete with official & unofficial betting pools and expert panel commentary

A/N: yes this is a repost
You step out of the police station, the click of your heels echoing against the smooth, shiny floor leading down to some stairs. With your phone pressed to your ear by your shoulder, you shove the documents into your bag and try to zip it closed, all while listening to the Chairman, your richest client over the phone.
âYes Chairman, I will get him home right away.â
The call disconnects as you manage to zip your bag, a sigh of relief falling from your lips. You allow yourself a moment to breathe, a moment to inhale a lungful of the cold night air. After how hectic the past hour has been, the only thing you need right now is a drink and a solid eight hours of sleep.
However, you will not be getting any of that.
You find Wonwoo standing a few feet ahead of you, his back facing you as he waits there with his hands in his pockets, kicking stones on the ground and looking around with boredom.
This man is the creator of the biggest chaos. He should come with a neon sign flashing on his forehead that reads âtrouble.â
You close your eyes and take a deep breath, mentally preparing yourself to deal with him without losing your professionalism. âMr. Jeon, let me drop you home.â
The tall man turns around as you approach him, and a wide, mischievous smirk graces his lips, âHow many times have I told you not to call me that, Princess Lawful?â
Pushing your frames up your nose bridge, you narrow your eyes at him, not appreciating his hearty attitude.
âI donât get paid enough for your bullshit, you know.â You comment under your breath, reaching into your pants pocket to search for your car keys.
âOh please,â he rolls his eyes. âYou are like whatâ twenty seven? And you have a five figure income monthly.â
âWhatever,â you grunt, fishing deeper into your seemingly endless pocket before finally finding your key. Wonwoo comes closer to you and casually snakes an arm around your shoulder, pulling you closer to his body, his firm chest bumping against your arm as you stiffen up from the contact.
âDonât worry, I will ask my father to give you a raise,â he leans down to whisper in your ear, making your breath stutter. Despite the cold weather, you can feel your face heat up, the dangerous proximity messing with your brain. It is all too muchâ his touch, his smell, his voice, a lethal combination that makes your knees weak.
You look at the taller man, in the back of your mind wondering how you ended up here. After graduation, you were lucky enough to get a job at one of the most reputable law firms right away.
Maybe not entirely luck, but through your hard work. You had sacrificed your youth, eyesight and skin for the job as you came out the top in your class. The plan was to work nine to five and within a year or two, end up with a fat paycheck every month. Things were going according to your plan until earlier this year when you made a huge breakthrough in a very important case that even your seniors were struggling with. That got the attention of your company president, Mr. Pi who immediately had you put in the legal team of the Jeon family as a junior advisor. He said there was an empty position and you would be the perfect fit. He promised that the workload would not be too much as you would primarily assist the senior lawyers in their tasks and the pay would be good.
It was a mistake to believe Mr. Pi.
The first time you saw Wonwoo was in the early morning on a Monday, one week after joining the Jeon familyâs legal team. As you were sneaking sips of coffee from your tumbler in a meeting room full of old men discussing boring things, Chairman Jeon, Wonwooâs father barged in followed by the trouble stirrer himself.
Wonwoo stole your breath the moment your eyes met him for the first time.
There was something magnetic about him. Other than his drop dead gorgeous looks, broad shoulders and tall build, there was something in his aura, something in the way he walked and carried himself that charged a room with tension and stole everyoneâs attention. Once his eyes locked with yours, he stood in front of the door for seconds that felt too long, the look in his fox shaped eyes changing. They flickered with mischief and some amusement as he tilted his head to carefully scan you, a subtle hint of smirk growing at his lips.
For a moment you had forgotten where you were, letting yourself get carried away in his hypnotizing gaze and attractive smile, the little nicks and cuts on his face increasing his appeal by a hundred times.
He was trouble. You knew it right away. You saw it in his eyes, the mischief, the defiance, the chaos he could not wait to cause. He was your polar opposite in every sense and you knew he picked up on it right away. And you also knew you would not be able to get him off your back.
That was indeed, true.
Wonwooâs first ever case that you handled was assigned that fateful morning. His father gathered everyone to brief about the situation that went down. Wonwoo had gotten in a fight at a bar the previous night, breaking a guy's arm and it was your job to compensate and cover the issue as smoothly as possible.
It has been quite a while since then and for whatever reason, Chairman Jeon always ordered you to handle his sonâs cases. Of course, you could not say no to him so for the last ten months you have been working like a dog, cleaning up Wonwooâs mess everytime he got in trouble, which was often.
It was during one such time, about three months ago, after you had gotten him out of the police station, that the mistake happened.
You slipped and caused trouble for yourself, committing something that altered your course of life.
You slept with Jeon Wonwoo.
Things have been messy since then. Not for him but for you. He definitely has more control over you now, crossing your professional boundaries whenever he pleases.
You are left in ruins, emotionally.
Wonwoo is an attractive, complicated man and you canât help that you are attracted to him. There is obvious palpable tension between the two of you but ignoring that, you know very well the type of guy he is.
He is not boyfriend material. He is not good for your heart.
Yet now, as your body is pressed against his in the cold winter night, you cannot prevent your heart from dangerously thudding in your chest, a heated feeling rising in your belly.
âTake me home, Princess Lawful,â Wonwoo says, squeezing your shoulder. âI had a long day, you know?â There is an innocent whine in his tone and you canât help but wonder at his duality.
âFighting people?â You throw an annoyed look at him, freeing yourself from his grip and marching towards your car.
âAmong other things,â he chuckles, his tone is light and playful as he jogs to catch up to you.
Thirty minutes later when you turn off your ignition in front of his house, you look beside to see him asleep in the passenger seat. No wonder it was so quiet in the car. He sits with the seat reclined, arms crossed over his chest as he faces the window in his side, the black locks of hair falling over his eyes.
In the dim light coming from a nearby street lamp, you admire the man next to you, your hands instinctively reaching to touch his face. Once again, your heartbeats quicken, a lump forming in your throat when you try to analyze this strange feeling in your chest. The tip of your index finger brushes his cheek, right below a cut and his lips form a knowing smile.
Your blood runs cold as you snatch your hand back.
This bastard was awake.
His eyes open, the piercing gaze making your breath stutter in your throat. âWhat dirty ideas were you having, hmm?â He smirks, leaning closer.
You immediately duck your head low, fiddling with your seatbelt in the dark to yank it open.
âI knew you were admiring me.â He easily snaps off his belt and resting his arm on the armrest between the two seats, he tilts his head lower to meet your bashful eyes. âWere you going to kiss me, Princess Lawful?â
You inhale a sharp breath before your hand moves on its own accord, ready to slap him. Wonwoo, however, catches it, his bony fingers wrapping around your wrist in a gentle yet firm grip as you lock eyes with him.
As always, he is calm and poised, a lazy smirk on his face, looking like he has the entire universe and beyond in his palm.
Wonwoo has this effect on you, this weird thing where words get stuck in your throat and your brain fumbles. Right now is one of those as your eyes remain locked with Wonwooâs hypnotic gaze, leaving you unable to look away no matter how much you want to. Slowly, he pulls your hand towards him, his lips to be exact, as you watch with horror how his lips come in contact with your knuckles.
Suddenly, it is sweltering inside the car even though it is below zero outside. You are brought under a spell as you watch with parted lips how softly, sensually Wonwooâs lips trace kisses over your knuckles and the top of your hand. The sensation shoots tingles throughout your entire body and at this moment, Wonwoo could ask you to bring him the moon and you would do it.
âCome inside.â His voice is feather light but you know he demands it.
Fuck, no, you cannot let this go on.
You snatch your hand back, shifting in your seat to be as far from him as possible in this confined space.
âI have an early day tomorrow,â you object, not meeting his gaze.
âOh come on,â He almost whines. âI am injured, you know.â
You turn your head to look at him with skepticism. He watches you with a pout on his lips, his eyes shining as if he is a child waiting for candy. It is a complete whiplash from his previous attitude.
âDonât believe me?â He sits up straight, determined to prove something as he turns on the overhead light. Then pulling up his windbreaker and his turtleneck, he shows you his lower back where, on the left side there is a big, purple mark blooming.
You gasp, immediately pulling the material of his clothes higher to get a better look. âMy god, how did this happen?â
âThe guy pushed me real hard. Hit my back against this table.â He explains casually, fixing his clothes. âCome on now, help me treat it.â He announces, not sparing a glance at you as he gets out of the car, his movements relaxed and confident as if he is sure you will follow him.
You do so silently, matching his pace as he approaches his house, the faint crunch of gravel beneath your feet the only sound. He climbs the small steps leading to the front door, its polished surface gleaming in the soft glow of the single overhead porch light. The neighbourhood is very posh, with picture-perfect houses standing at equal distances, their elegant designs glowing softly under the street lamps. The chill in the air adds a crispness to the atmosphere, as the two of your footsteps break the silence where no one is stirring.
Wonwooâs fingerprint unlocks the door with a beep and he immediately steps inside. The door remains open as you linger in the cold night air outside, hesitant.
âWhatâs wrong? Do you really enjoy standing out in the cold?â The man cranes his neck to look at you.
With a soft sigh, you step in.
The minute the door shuts closed behind you, Wonwooâs mouth latches onto yours. He attacks you almost, passion overflowing from him as he presses you against the door in a frenzy.
You knew this would happen. Yet you came in.
There is no one at fault but you.
He shoves his tongue inside you, tasting your mouth like a starved man while his hands do a quick work to shake off your coat from your shoulders. The warmth from his body blankets you in an addictive sense of comfort, his hands moving to hold both of your wrists in a bruising hold against the door.
There is no escape.
Your body submits, relaxing against his as you let yourself feel every bit of the sensations. When Wonwoo pulls away, the space between the two of you charges with tension, the heat increasing with the way his dark eyes bore into yours.
âI have been wanting to do that for a while now.â He breathes, his voice gruff. He lets go of your hands and skims his fingers on your back, pulling down the zipper of your blouse.
Your lips are swollen, his bruising kiss lingering on your lips as you unconsciously lick them, trapped in the dark pools of his eyes.
You are so ruined.
Wonwoo takes a few steps back, his fingers working deftly to remove his windbreaker and his turtleneck. You see him wince due to the bruise when he moves his body and you stop him with a gentle hand on his arm.
âMaybe we should get a look at that first.â
Wonwoo scoffs and you know he will not listen to you. You are about to force him when he takes off his trousers that leaves him in his boxers only and all thoughts fly out of your mind when you see the bulge forming in them.
Wonwoo sports that cocky, insufferable look on his face. âStop drooling, Princess Lawful.â
You frown, ready to refute when he utters the next words that stun you into silence.
âOn your knees.â The playful expression is gone from his face as he looks at you dead in the eyes, palming himself through his underwear.
You are a frozen statue, waiting for him to repeat himself because there is no way he just said that.
âDonât keep me waiting,â he grunts, yanking you closer to him by your arm. He looks down on you as you feel his breaths on your skin when he whispers. âGet on your knees. And take your top off. I want you to suck my cock. I want to see that nerdy face choking, messy with tears.â
Your throat is a dessert. Your eyes are wide with horror, your hands clenched into tight fists as you try to wrap your head around his dirty words. Wonwoo easily pushes you on your knees, your mind still trying to catch up with what is happening. He, in fact, removes your blouse for you, leaving you in your nude coloured bra as goosebumps break into your skin. His intimidating bulge stands in front of your face and you sense a rush of panic within you.
There is no way you can do this.
Fuck, this is your first time giving a blowjob to someone.
But you cannot let him know that. You would rather plunge yourself in the cold sea and get eaten by sharks. So, with the same determination that helped you finish law school with straight Aâs, you set out to prove yourself. With trembling hands, you pull down his boxers and the image of his long, thick length is daunting, immediately making your throat hurt.
Wonwoo's hands snake around your neck, his fingers caressing the base of your low pony as he pushes your mouth closer to his dick.
Shy and unsure, you hold him using both hands, the hard, warm member a foreign sensation beneath your fingertips. Your tongue darts out, giving his tip a kittenish link.
âStop playing,â Wonwoo warns. âYou know how to suck cock, right? Or do I need to teach you that?â
Offended, you push your glasses up and wrap your lips around his tip, sucking on his precum. The breathy sigh that parts from Wonwooâs lips indicates that you are on the right path. You continue sucking, covering more of his length, adding an inch bit by bit to get used to the feeling of him in your mouth.
Wonwoo, however, does not have the patience and he extends an arm to the wall to support himself while using the other to hold your neck as an anchor as he starts to thrust in and out your mouth in shallow movements.
âFuck, you look so hot like this,â he pants, his eyes trained on your face, your swollen, spit coated lips wrapped around his length as you look up at him with doe eyes behind your steel frames. âThis is my new favourite scene, Princess, you dressed for work and on your knees for me.â He grunts, increasing his pace, his thick length going deeper and making you choke.
The entire scene is so erotic, his filthy words paired with gurgling noises coming deep from your throat and tears that blur your vision. Between your legs, your pussy throbs with pain as an urge to touch yourself grows. You can not do that due to the layers of clothes still covering your lower half so you press your thighs together, focusing on getting him off.
You hollow your throat to the best of your capability and his length goes in deeper than before, prompting you to choke and pull back your mouth from him, bursts of cough coming from your lips.
In front of you, Wonwoo stands, panting harshly as he rubs his slick length, his dark eyes watching you wipe your tears and spit while trying to stop the coughs. âYou look so hot right now.â He breathes, the dark depravity in his voice making you look at him.
âI want to come on your face so bad but more than that, I need to get my cock inside you. Fuck you so good you will feel me tomorrow morning when you are at your meeting.â
You can only blink as your pussy throbs at his promise. By now, you are sure that your underwear is a soaking mess.
âStand up, Princess Lawful.â He orders with a smirk on his face. You immediately comply, standing on shaky legs. Wonwoo wastes no time to press your back flat against a nearby wall, his fingers rapidly working on taking off your belt. He unzips your dress pants and pulls them down halfway along with your underwear in record time. His eyes remain focused on your core and you shy away from his gaze, covering yourself with your hands. He immediately pushes them away and easily slips a finger inside your wet core.
âOh god,â you moan, your eyes falling closed. Wonwoo scoffs, a cruel smile of lust kissing his lips as he whispers in your ear, âFuck, look at you. You are dripping. Did sucking my cock turn on so much?â
You nod, an arm coming up to hold his shoulder, the firm muscles feeling so good under your touch.
âSay it,â he commands, using his free hand to grip your face in a firm hold, squishing your cheeks.
âY-yes.â You whisper, chasing his fingers with your hips. You need him inside you so bad you are going insane.
âGood little slut.â He grins before lining himself up with your entrance and thrusting his entire length in one swift motion.
âFuck!â The first thing you feel is pain, the entirety of his thick length shoving inside you so hard you swear you feel him in your belly.
Deep in the back of your mind, there is the sensible part of you who shakes her head at your desperation and carelessness. Even though you have an IUD, you still should have used a condom.
That is the issue, all common sense and logic fly out the window when you are near this man. That is why he is so bad for you, for your heart.
Wonwoo suddenly presses his lips to yours, breaking your train of thought. His tongue moves inside your mouth in tandem with his thrusts as your entire body jolts at the force. His fingers hold your ass and the back of your thighs in a bruising grip as he drives inside you mercilessly, each thrust harder than the last one.
You are going to come right away.
Wonwoo however decides to stop. His grip on you loosens as a harsh pant comes out of his mouth, his eyes scorching with animalistic lust.
Then, before you can question or protest, he roughly tugs on your arm, pulling you with him as you two cross the short distance to his bedroom. Standing in front of the bed, he unceremoniously pushes you on the soft mattress, murmuring. âLie down.â
You do as told, shuffling back into the bed with confusion as Wonwoo fully takes off your trousers and your underwear.
âI can fuck you better like this, on the bed.â He grins as an explanation, making heat rush to your face. Not wasting time, he slides back inside you, a low groan of pleasure falling from his lips at your warmth. The sound makes your pussy clench around his length as a soft mewl falls from your lips when he hits that sensitive spot within you.
âFuck, keep making sounds like that and I will come right now.â
You once again clench at the idea and a smirk graces Wonwooâs lips. âYou want that, no?â He increases his pace, his right hand tightly holding your waist while his left hand slips down a strap of bra from one of your shoulders, exposing your breast. He squeezes your breasts, pinching and tugging at your nipples which heightens your pleasure. You throw your head back, your fingers gripping onto his arms as you whine, âP-please, I want to come.â
âSuch a good slut, begging so nicely.â He huffs, using both hands to grip your waist, his cock driving deeper inside you than ever before due to the angle. Your legs shake and your toes curl as you taste your orgasm coming.Â
Wonwoo leans on top of you, covering your body with his as he licks his way from your collarbone and below, all the while moving in and out of you. His lips wrap around your nipple as he sucks and bites and finally the coil in your belly snaps.
Your body spasms, a loud cry of pleasure falling from your lips as you are thrown over the edge and taken away by your release. Wonwoo spurts inside you at the same time, his low groans of pleasure and strings of curses sounding like honey to your ears.
For some time, you find yourself lost in your head, your senses fading into the background. Time slips away as you enter a trance-like state, the aftershocks of pleasure radiating through your body and paired with the dayâs exhaustion, you feel like you are floating away on a cloud of bliss and ecstasy.
After a long while, when you are fully back in your senses, you see Wonwoo lying beside you, his eyes closed. Judging from the way he is breathing, he seems asleep.Â
The clock on the wall reads 10 pm.
A soft sigh escapes your lips as you sit up on the bed, your joints feeling sore.
You can not shake the overwhelming pity you feel for yourself.
This is what happens when you cross the lines with a guy like Wonwoo.
Alone and exhausted, an emotional mess as you drown in self pity while the guy that has ruined you physically and emotionally sleeps away peacefully.Â
Even asleep, he radiates an exquisite beauty, bathed in the soft, golden glow of the lights that fill the room. As you gaze at him, you find yourself wondering what it might be like if this were love rather than lustâif you could stir his heart to race and flutter as yours does for him.
How silly. How pathetic.
With weary steps, you move through his house, first going to the bathroom to clean yourself before gathering your scattered clothes and putting them on. You are about to leave when you suddenly remember the bruise on his back.
With a sigh, you take an ice pack from the refrigerator and wrap it in a towel. Then you pull out the first aid kit from the bathroom cabinet, slightly annoyed to find it untouched and brand new, just like you left it a few months ago. He has yet to use it no matter how many times you requested him to.Â
Shaking your head, you place the kit on the bedside table, taking out some compression bandage and a painkiller and placing them outside and within his view. Then, finding a sticky pad, you scribble some notes and stick them on the bottle of the pills, hoping he sees it and follows your instructions.
When you are done setting everything, the man is still fast asleep, his face squished against the mattress as he lies on his front. Gently, you tiptoe near him and peek at the bruise on his back.
He will be in pain later for sure.
Tentatively, you place the ice pack on his back before quickly stepping out of his bedroom. The towel will diffuse the chill so he will not wake up immediately, giving you enough time to leave.Â
As you drive your car through the quiet neighbourhood, you make a promise to yourself.
This was the last time you crossed boundaries with him.Â
You loathe this emptiness in your soul as you drive away from him late at night, feeling discarded after a quick fuck when all your heart desires is to lay in the warmth of his arms.
That is not your reality and you accepted it.Â
From tomorrow, there will be no you and Wonwoo beyond the professional responsibilities that tie you together.
â
NEXT MORNING, 10 AM
As soon as the meeting is over you head for your office and sink down on your chair, sagging into the leather with a deep sigh of relief. The delicious aroma of the coffee heals you as you take a sip, a soft groan falling from your lips.
Today is going to be a long day. You definitely should have prepared better for such a day because being sleep deprived along with a throbbing ache between your legs is definitely not the way to go about it.Â
You realize Wonwoo did keep his promise as you can still feel him between your legs, the memories and sensations of last night still too vivid.Â
Shaking your head at the unwelcome thoughts, you begin pulling out all the necessary files from your bag and spreading them on your desk when there is a knock at the door.
You look up and before you can tell the person to come in, the door opens.
Wonwoo steps in, making your heart shudder as if the mere thought of him has summoned his physical presence.
He looks dashing as ever, sporting his signature cocky smile as he closes the door behind him. âGood morning, Princess Lawful.â He chirps.
Frowning, you push up your glasses, not finding his presence amusing. You remember the events of last night and the promise you made to yourself. Now is the perfect time to honour it.Â
âWhat are you doing here?â You question, standing up from your seat.
He pouts, approaching you. âAm I so unwelcome? Had some business nearby. Thought I would drop by your office.â
âDo you have anything to consult with me?â
âYes,â he hums, his gaze sultry. He comes closer to you and easily wraps an arm around your waist, pulling you against his body, his eyes fixed on your lips. Once again, you are overpowered by his touch, smell and everything he makes you feel.
This must stop.
Mustering all your strength, you push him away with a firm hand on his chest. The man stumbles back, looking at you with confusion. With a deep, calming breath, you take a step back and focus your gaze on him, your sharp eyes piercing through his.
âThis is over.â
âWhat?â
âWhatever we were doingâŚmessing around, it is over. I am done.â
âWhat?â His mouth is agape. He looks absolutely stunned as if your words make no sense to him.
âMister Jeon Wonwoo, I do not owe you any explanation.â Your tone is sharp, matching your gaze. He frowns, his eyes going dark as he mirrors your gaze. âFrom now on, I will not be seeing you outside of work, is that clear?â
You see his jaw clench. He inhales a sharp breath, the soft sound cutting through the air fizzling with tension.
âFine,â he spits with eyes filled with an accusatory intensity so heavy that you feel a physical weight. âWhatever you say. Let's not see each other again.â
You nod, stiff.
You know very well it is a lie. These words are a mere facade of an agreement, bound to be broken. You will see him again for you are two magnets with fierce, crackling attraction.Â
Nothing can keep you apart.Â
The air thickens with heavy tension, your sharp gazes locked with each other, cutting through the air and charging the atoms with an unending flare. If someone listened closely, they might even hear the hisses of sparks forming and spreading all over.
Sibilance, they call it.

As the heavy oak doors of the Transfiguration classroom creaked open, you walked in alongside your friend Leeseo. The room, illuminated by large arched windows that allowed beams of sunlight to dance across the stone floor, was already buzzing with the chatter of students.
Leeseo nudged you gently, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. âI heard todayâs lesson is going to be something really challenging,â she whispered, her excitement barely contained. You nodded, sharing her eagerness. Transfiguration was one of the most fascinating subjects at Hogwarts, and Professor McGonagallâs classes were always a blend of rigorous discipline and awe-inspiring magic.
As you took your seats, you glanced toward the front of the classroom. There, standing tall and composed by the blackboard, was Professor McGonagall. Her stern yet kind eyes surveyed the room, ensuring everyone was settled. With her wand in hand, she exuded an air of authority and wisdom, her emerald robes flowing gracefully around her.
The murmurs gradually subsided as McGonagall stepped forward, her presence commanding your attention. âGood morning, class,â she began, her voice clear and steady. âToday, we will be advancing to human transfiguration, a complex and delicate branch of magic that requires utmost precision and concentration.â
The mention of human transfiguration sent a ripple of excitement and nervousness through the room. You exchanged a quick, thrilled glance with Leeseo. This was the kind of magic that defined wizardry, the intricate spells that transformed the very essence of matter.
Professor McGonagall flicked her wand, and the blackboard behind her filled with neat, precise instructions and diagrams. âNow, before we begin, I must remind you of the importance of practice and control. Improper transfiguration can have⌠unintended consequences.â Her eyes swept the room, emphasizing the seriousness of her words.
With a final nod of understanding, you prepared your wand and opened your textbook to the designated chapter.
After Transfiguration, your day continued with a series of classes, each filled with the usual hustle and bustle of student life at Hogwarts. Charms was lively as always, with Professor Flitwickâs enthusiastic instruction keeping everyone engaged. Herbology followed, where you worked in the greenhouse, learning about magical plants and their properties.
As the day wore on, you eventually made your way to the dungeon for Potions class. The air grew cooler and the corridors darker as you descended, the flickering torches casting eerie shadows on the stone walls. You and Leeseo entered the dimly lit classroom, settling into your usual seats near the middle. Around you, your classmates were chatting in low tones, the anticipation palpable.
The door swung open with a dramatic flair, and Professor Snape swept into the room, his black robes billowing behind him. The room fell silent instantly, every student turning their attention to the formidable Potions Master. Snapeâs presence commanded a certain respectâor perhaps fearâthat was undeniable.
âToday,â Snape began, his voice a silky drawl that carried a hint of menace, âyou will brew a Veritaserum.â He paused, letting the weight of his words settle over the class. âA truth potion, which when correctly brewed, will compel the drinker to reveal their innermost secrets.â
He moved to the front of the classroom, where a cauldron was already simmering. With precise, deliberate movements, he began demonstrating the brewing process, adding ingredients with a practiced ease. His every action was fluid, almost mesmerizing, and you found yourself taking meticulous notes, your eyes darting between the instructions in the textbook and Snapeâs methodical demonstration.
âTake care to follow the instructions exactly,â Snape intoned, his dark eyes sweeping the room. âAny deviation could render the potion useless⌠or worse.â
He finished his demonstration and stepped back, crossing his arms. âI have set up each of you with a partner, so I expect you all to work together,â he announced. The room buzzed with curiosity as you waited for your name to be called.
One by one, Snape called out the pairings. Leeseo was partnered with a Gryffindor student, and soon your name came up. âYou will be working with Nishimura Ni-ki,â Snape declared.
You glanced over at Ni-ki, a Slytherin student known for his cunning nature and sharp intellect. Your eyes met briefly before he stood up and walked toward you, his expression neutral. He took the seat beside you, and for a moment, you simply looked at each other, assessing.
âShall I cut and you brew?â Ni-ki asked, his voice calm and steady.
You nodded in agreement. âThat sounds good.â
With a silent understanding, you both began your task. Ni-kiâs hands moved deftly, slicing ingredients with precision and efficiency, while you focused on the careful process of brewing, ensuring each step was followed meticulously. Though you didnât converse much, there was an unspoken coordination between you, a shared goal that drove your efforts.
The potion started to take shape, its color gradually shifting as you added each ingredient in turn. Ni-kiâs sharp observations and quick corrections were invaluable, and you found yourself appreciating his expertise despite your limited interactions.
As the final stages approached, the potion glowed a soft, silvery hue, indicating you were on the right track. Snape prowled the classroom, occasionally stopping to observe or comment on various pairsâ progress. When he reached your desk, he paused, scrutinizing your work with his usual critical eye.
âAcceptable,â he murmured, giving a slight nod before moving on. It was high praise coming from Snape, and you felt a sense of accomplishment.
After you and Ni-ki finished brewing the Veritaserum, you let out a quiet sigh of relief and settled back into your seat. The potion simmered gently, its translucent glow a sign of your successful collaboration. With the class winding down, you pulled out your notebook and began doodling absentmindedly, your mind drifting.
Ni-ki, meanwhile, was meticulously sorting out the remaining ingredients. You stole a quick glance at him, curiosity getting the better of you. His recently dyed light hair hung in front of his eyes, accentuating his piercing stare. Despite his cold demeanor, there was an undeniable intensity in his gaze that seemed to see right through people. His robes fit him perfectly, the black fabric contrasting sharply with his pale complexion. The Slytherin badge, neatly stitched into his robes, was complemented by the prefect badge pinned just beside it, a testament to his standing and discipline.
You had to admit, even if only to yourself, that Ni-ki looked good. There was something striking about him, an aura that was hard to ignore. But you would never voice this thought out loud. You admired him quietly, keeping your appreciation to yourself. Despite his coldness, he wasnât like some of his fellow Slytherins who resorted to bullying and teasing. No, his crime was differentâhe was aloof, detached, and seemingly emotionless. He was an enigma, always keeping to himself and his close-knit group of peers.
As you doodled, you found your thoughts wandering. What was Ni-ki hiding behind that expressionless face? What would it be like to see him smile, to see his features soften with joy? Did he ever feel sadness, and if so, did he let himself cry? These questions swirled in your mind, each one deepening the mystery that was Ni-ki.
Before you could ponder further, the sound of chairs scraping against the stone floor signaled the end of class. Snapeâs curt dismissal barely registered as you blinked, realizing how lost in thought you had become. You looked up to find that Ni-ki had already stood up and left, leaving behind a spotless workstation. The ingredients were neatly put away, the table wiped clean. In your daydreaming, you hadnât even noticed him tidying up.
As you left the Potions classroom, the dark and cool dungeons faded behind you, but your thoughts lingered on Ni-ki. You shook your head, trying to clear the lingering questions that kept popping up about him. It wasnât like you caredâhe was distant and cold. But the fact that he cleaned up without saying a word or asking for acknowledgmentâit was almost⌠considerate. Strange for someone like him.
You walked down the stone corridor, heading toward the next class with Leeseo catching up to you. âHow was it working with Ni-ki?â she asked, her voice light and curious.
You shrugged, keeping your expression neutral. âHeâs efficient. Doesnât talk much.â
Leeseo raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. âEfficient? Thatâs not the word I expected you to use.â She grinned playfully, nudging you. âYou didnât bicker, did you?â
You rolled your eyes. âWe didnât even speak much, to be honest. He just⌠does his part and leaves. Not much else to say.â
âClassic Ni-ki,â she mused, adjusting her bag over her shoulder. âStill, itâs kind of impressive that you got to work with him. Heâs got a reputation, you know.â
âYeah, Iâve heard.â You kept your voice light, trying not to dwell on the fact that you had spent the better part of Potions class analyzing the guy instead of just brewing the potion. âItâs just one class though. Nothing special.â
But even as you said it, you couldnât help but wonder why he kept himself so closed off. There was a quiet confidence about him, yes, but also a wall that he didnât seem to let anyone through. It made him mysterious, sure, but also frustrating. What was he hiding? Or was it just his nature, plain and simple?
Leeseo and you reached the courtyard, the cool autumn air refreshing after the confined dungeon. You tilted your head up, letting the breeze rustle through your hair, trying to shake off the distraction that Ni-ki had become in your thoughts.
âWell, heâs not bad-looking,â Leeseo added with a grin, catching you completely off guard.
You nearly choked on air, throwing her an incredulous look. âSeriously?â
She laughed, her eyes twinkling with mischief. âCome on, you canât deny it. Heâs got that whole mysterious, brooding Slytherin thing going on. Youâd be blind not to notice.â
You groaned, tugging your scarf tighter around your neck as you continued walking. âI donât need any more distractions, thanks. We have enough on our plate with the upcoming exams and essays.â You tried to steer the conversation away, not wanting to admit that, yes, Ni-ki was ridiculously good-looking. Admiring him from afar was one thing, but beyond that? Absolutely not.
Leeseo just smiled knowingly, but thankfully, she let the topic drop as you made your way to the next class. Still, as the day went on, Ni-kiâs expressionless face, his precise movements, and the way his hair fell over his eyes refused to leave the corners of your mind.
You sighed to yourself. This was going to be harder to ignore than you thought.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It all really started one afternoon at the library when you were tucked away at your usual table near the back, surrounded by textbooks and parchment. You were completely immersed in your reading when you noticed a shadow fall across the table.
Looking up, you saw himâNishimura Ni-ki.
Without a word, he pulled out the chair opposite you and sat down. No greeting, no explanation, just the soft sound of him placing his books on the table. He didnât meet your eyes, didnât acknowledge your surprised expression. Instead, he opened his own textbook and began reading, as though it was the most natural thing in the world for him to sit there.
You blinked, taken aback. For a moment, you considered asking him what he was doing. After all, it wasnât as if the library was short on tables, and Ni-ki wasnât exactly known for being social with anyone outside of his Slytherin circle. But instead, you tried to focus on your work, convincing yourself that heâd leave soon enough.
But he didnât.
He stayed, flipping through pages, scribbling notes in his neat, precise handwriting. He didnât speak, didnât look at youâjust sat there, quietly doing his own work. You couldnât help but steal a few glances at him, confused by his presence. Why was he here, sitting with you, of all people?
After what felt like an eternity, you couldnât hold back any longer. "What are you doing?" you asked, keeping your voice low to avoid drawing Madam Pinceâs ire.
He didnât look up from his book. "Studying," he replied, his tone clipped and direct.
You raised an eyebrow. "I can see that. But why here?"
For the first time, he looked up, meeting your eyes with that same unreadable expression he always wore. "Is there a problem?" he asked calmly, his voice steady.
You hesitated. He wasnât being rude, exactly, but the way he spoke made it clear he didnât think he needed to explain himself. You shook your head, deciding it wasnât worth pushing further. "No," you muttered, turning back to your own notes.
And so the pattern began.
Each time you came to the library, Ni-ki would show up not long after. Sometimes he arrived before you, already seated at the same table, as if claiming it before you could. Other times, heâd stroll in after youâd settled down, take his seat across from you, and dive into his work. He never spoke unless you asked him a direct question, and even then, his answers were always short, almost dismissive. It wasnât that he was unkindâjust distant, like there was no need for conversation.
"Why do you keep sitting here?" you asked one day, after heâd settled into the chair across from you for what felt like the hundredth time.
He didnât even look up. "Itâs quiet," he answered simply, continuing to write in his notebook.
You frowned, not satisfied with the answer. "There are other tables. You could sit anywhere else."
"True." He glanced up briefly, his eyes meeting yours before flicking back to his book. "But Iâm sitting here."
That was all he said. No further explanation, no invitation for more questions. Just a simple, matter-of-fact statement that left you feeling more confused than before.
It wasnât like he was helping you with your work, either. He didnât offer advice, didnât join in on any discussions about the material you were studying. He was just⌠there. A quiet presence that made you hyper-aware of his every movement, even though he barely acknowledged you. It was unnerving at first, but over time, you began to expect itâNi-ki would be there, silently doing his own thing while you tried to focus on yours.
There were moments when you found yourself glancing at him more than you should have. His hair, still that light shade, would occasionally fall in front of his eyes, and heâd push it back with a practiced motion. His fingers moved with such precision as he wrote, and his posture was always so composed, like he never let himself relax fully.
And yet, despite the quiet, there was something oddly comforting about his presence. It was strange to admit, but in the silence of the library, having him across from you became⌠familiar. Predictable, even.
Still, the lack of interaction left you with more questions than answers. Why sit with you every time if he had no intention of talking? What was he gaining from it? Was it simply convenience, or was there something else going on that you couldnât see?
One afternoon, after another long stretch of silent studying, you finally broke the quiet. "You donât have to sit here, you know."
He paused, his quill hovering over the parchment. His eyes lifted to meet yours, and for a moment, he seemed to consider your words. "I know," he said quietly, his voice softer than usual. "But I am."
And with that, he went back to his work, leaving you with nothing but the steady scratch of his quill and the growing confusion swirling in your mind.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
As the weeks passed, Ni-kiâs quiet presence at your table in the library became something you began to anticipate. It was no longer surprising when he pulled out the chair across from you, settling in without a word. At first, it had unnerved youâthe silent way he occupied the space, his sharp focus on his own work, and the fact that, outside these moments, he didnât acknowledge you at all. But now, somehow, you didnât mind it.
In fact, you found yourself looking forward to it. His quiet company had a strange, calming effect, as if the library wasnât truly complete without him sitting across from you. You had started to expect him there, so much so that on the rare occasions when he wasnât, you couldnât help but feel a little off-kilter, like something was missing from the day.
It wasnât that the two of you had grown closer, at least not in the usual sense. He never spoke unless you asked him a direct question, and even then, his answers were brief and to the point. He offered no opinions, no conversation startersâjust an occasional glance in your direction, sometimes a quiet nod. And yet, you had grown accustomed to the silence between you, a silence that felt oddly comfortable.
But the strange thing was, beyond these quiet library sessions, it was as if Ni-ki didnât know you at all.
In classes, he barely looked your way. If he did speak to you, it was only because the lesson demanded itâwhen he was your partner for a potion, or during group work in Transfiguration. His responses were always curt, efficient, like he was checking off a box before returning to his own tasks. You would pass each other in the corridors, or see him in the Great Hall, always surrounded by his Slytherin friends, and it was like you didnât exist. Not a glance, not a nod, nothing to suggest he even knew you.
It puzzled you to no end. You werenât sure if it bothered you or just left you more curious. Why go out of his way to sit with you in the library if he had no interest in interacting with you elsewhere? It wasnât like he needed help with his studiesâNi-ki was brilliant in his own right. And it wasnât like you were friends, either. In fact, you had hardly spoken more than a handful of sentences to each other since you first started sharing a table.
You found yourself wondering more and more why he bothered. Why, out of all the places in Hogwarts, did he always choose the spot across from you? Why did he sit with you, week after week, without saying much of anything, only to act as if you didnât exist the moment you left the library?
But you didnât dare ask him. For one thing, Ni-ki was rarely alone. He was almost always surrounded by his Slytherin friendsâusually fellow prefects or others from his house, most of whom carried an air of superiority that reminded you why you kept your distance from most of them. There was never a convenient moment to pull him aside, and even if there were, you couldnât imagine what youâd say.
And then there was the other part of you, the part that didnât exactly want to know the answer. What if it was something you didnât want to hear? What if the reason was as simple as convenience, or worseâwhat if there was no reason at all? What if, to him, you were just a tablemate, nothing more?
Youâd often catch yourself glancing over at him during Potions or in the Great Hall, trying to make sense of him. His friends would be laughing or talking among themselves, and there Ni-ki would be, sitting quietly, his expression unreadable, completely detached from whatever conversation was happening around him. You wondered if he was the same with themâdistant, aloof, only speaking when necessary.
Sometimes youâd catch his eye, and for the briefest moment, you thought you saw somethingâmaybe recognition, maybe nothing at all. But then, heâd look away, and the moment would pass as quickly as it came.
It became a kind of ritualâthis quiet routine in the library, these fleeting moments of wondering. You couldnât deny the growing curiosity, though. Why did he choose you, out of everyone he could have sat with? And why did it seem like he was perfectly fine with just⌠existing alongside you, never crossing the invisible line that separated the two of you?
You wished you had the courage to ask him. But each time you considered it, you reminded yourself of who he wasâNishimura Ni-ki, Slytherin prefect, sharp-tongued and unreadable. He wasnât someone you could just ask a simple, casual question and expect an answer that wouldnât make you regret it.
And besides, maybe it was better this wayâbetter to leave the mystery unsolved than to shatter the quiet routine you had somehow built with him.
Even your friends began to notice. Leeseo had raised her eyebrows the first time she saw Ni-ki sitting with you in the library, but she hadnât said anything beyond the occasional teasing. âYour silent study buddyâs here again,â sheâd say with a wink when she caught him at the table. âYou two make quite the pair.â
You always brushed it off, rolling your eyes at her remarks. But deep down, a part of you wondered if she saw something you were missing. Was there more to Ni-kiâs presence than what you had convinced yourself to believe?
It was during one of those quiet afternoons, with parchment spread across the table and the soft scratch of your quill filling the silence, that you found yourself thinking about it more than usual. Why, out of all the students at Hogwarts, did he choose to sit with you? Surely, he had plenty of friends or places he could have gone. And more importantly, why did he never talk to you outside of the library?
Your eyes flicked up to Ni-ki, who was seated across from you as usual, engrossed in a large, ancient-looking tome. His light hair fell over his forehead, slightly tousled from the breeze outside. He looked calm, composed, and completely at ease, as if this had been his routine for years.
A question hovered on the tip of your tongue, one you had been pushing aside for weeks now. But before you could find the courage to ask, Ni-ki suddenly closed his book with a soft thud. You blinked, startled out of your thoughts, and he stood up, gathering his things with that same quiet precision.
He looked at you, his dark eyes briefly meeting yours. For a second, you thought he might say something, but instead, he gave a slight nodâhis usual, silent goodbye. Without a word, he turned and left the library, his footsteps soft against the stone floor.
You watched him go, feeling that familiar, quiet emptiness settle in his absence.
What you didnât know was that, in Ni-kiâs mind, a storm was brewing. A quiet turmoil, hidden beneath his calm exterior, had begun to take shape, and it was all because of you. He had always prided himself on his ability to maintain focus, to keep his thoughts clear and his goals straightforward. But lately, you had become an unexpected variable in his otherwise predictable life.
At first, he had taken little notice of you. You were just another student, one among many who populated Hogwarts. But then, slowly but surely, that indifference had shifted to something elseâcuriosity. He began to notice the way your brow furrowed in concentration when you studied, the way your lips would curve into a small smile when you finally grasped a particularly tricky concept. There was something intriguing about your determination, something that pulled at the edges of his awareness.
As he continued to share those quiet moments in the library with you, he found himself observing you more intently. He noticed the small things: how you tucked a stray piece of hair behind your ear when you were deep in thought, how your expressions shifted subtly as you worked through problems. You were a puzzle he hadnât expected to encounter, and with each encounter, the mystery deepened.
But it didnât stop there. What began as a mild curiosity morphed into confusion. Ni-ki couldnât quite articulate it, but there was something compelling about youâsomething that made you linger in his thoughts long after he had left the library. Why did your laughter echo in his mind? Why did he find himself glancing in your direction during meals, seeking you out in the crowded Great Hall, even when he was surrounded by his friends?
It was disconcerting, to say the least. He was known for his stoic demeanor, for being the type of person who kept his emotions in check. Yet, here he was, caught in an unyielding tide of thoughts about someone he had initially dismissed. It was frustrating, and a little alarming. He was supposed to be focused on his studies, on his role as a prefect, on maintaining the reputation he had carefully crafted. So why couldnât he shake the feeling that there was something deeper to explore with you?
Every time you caught his gaze across the Great Hall or shared a fleeting moment in the library, the storm would build inside himâcuriosity colliding with confusion, a need to understand you battling against the fear of opening up. What if you didnât feel the same? What if this was all one-sided, and he was just a distant presence in your life? The idea sent a jolt of uncertainty through him.
Ni-kiâs friends began to notice his distraction. They would tease him about how often he seemed to lose focus, how he would sometimes pause mid-conversation, his eyes drifting off to the side as if searching for somethingâor someone. But he brushed their remarks aside, masking his inner conflict with indifference.
He found himself wrestling with a mounting desire to approach you, to understand the enigma you represented. But every time he would gather the courage to break that silence, to say something more than the necessary exchanges during class, he hesitated. The distance between you felt both comforting and suffocating.
It was a confusing dichotomy, and Ni-ki was left to navigate his own feelings in silence, unsure of where this newfound intrigue would lead him. All he knew was that every time he sat in front of you in the library, the storm inside him would shiftâpushing him closer to the edge of wanting to reach out, even as fear held him back.
He didnât know what to do about it. He didnât know why he kept coming back, why he couldnât stay away, even though he knew that sitting there, in silence, only made things more complicated.
But he couldnât stop. And he didnât want to. He just needed to figure out how.
--------------------------------------------------------------
It started gradually, almost imperceptibly. The silence between you and Ni-ki began to shift, not in any overt way but in small moments that made it feel⌠less heavy. The library sessions continued as they always had, with Ni-ki sitting across from you, his head bent over his books, while you quietly worked on your own assignments. But there were times now when you found yourself speaking.
It started off with casual remarks. Maybe it was the stress of exams or the overwhelming workload that had you venting aloud, but Ni-ki never seemed bothered by it. He didnât offer much in returnâjust a short nod or a quiet hum of acknowledgmentâbut he listened.
One evening, after a particularly difficult day, you couldnât hold back anymore. "I just donât get it," you muttered, staring at your Transfiguration textbook in frustration. "No matter how much I study, I canât seem to get this right. And McGonagall keeps assigning more complex material like itâs nothing."
Ni-ki looked up, his eyes flicking to the page you were stuck on before settling back on your frustrated expression. He didnât say anything, just kept watching you with that same quiet intensity you had grown used to.
"And," you continued, feeling a strange comfort in speaking your thoughts aloud to him, "thereâs this Slytherin who wonât stop picking on me. Every time I pass by them, itâs like they have to make some snide comment or knock my bag off my shoulder. Itâs ridiculous." You sighed, shaking your head. "But I guess thatâs just how it goes sometimes."
Ni-kiâs eyes darkened slightly at your words, his jaw tightening, but he said nothing. You didnât expect a response; you were just letting off steam. Somehow, Ni-kiâs silent presence always made it easier to say the things that were weighing on you. You could talk to him without fear of judgment or interruption. He just listened, and that was enough.
The next day, something changed. The Slytherin student who had made it their mission to irritate you suddenly stopped. They no longer sneered at you in the halls, no longer made rude remarks or tried to provoke you. In fact, they seemed to go out of their way to avoid you altogether. You didnât understand why, but you werenât about to complain.
And then, there was the folder. It appeared during one of your classes, a neatly organized folder filled with notes on every subject you had been struggling with. The handwriting was unmistakableâprecise, clean, and undeniably Ni-kiâs. The notes were thorough, covering all the topics you had mentioned having trouble with. It was as if he had gone out of his way to compile everything you needed to help you catch up.
You didnât know how to react at first. Gratitude and surprise warred within you as you thumbed through the pages, recognizing the meticulous effort that had gone into writing them. Ni-ki hadnât said a word about it, hadnât even hinted that he was going to help you like this. He had just quietly, and without fanfare, made sure you had everything you needed.
The next time you saw him in the library, you didnât hesitate to thank him.
"Ni-ki," you began softly, looking up from your books to meet his gaze. His head lifted slightly, acknowledging that he was listening. "Thank youâfor the notes." Your voice was sincere, full of the appreciation you felt. "I really didnât expect it, but it helped a lot."
He didnât say anything in return. He just nodded once, his face remaining as impassive as ever, as if this grand gesture was nothing out of the ordinary. For Ni-ki, maybe it wasnât. Maybe that was just how he operatedâhelping silently, without drawing attention to it, without expecting anything in return.
But for you, it meant something. A lot, actually. It was a reminder that beneath Ni-kiâs cold exterior, there was more to him than he let on. His actions spoke louder than any words could, and though he kept his distance in almost every other part of your life, in these quiet moments, he was closer than anyone.
And so, you didnât ask what had happened with the Slytherin who had suddenly stopped bothering you. You didnât ask why Ni-ki had gone through the trouble of writing those notes for you or why he had stayed by your side all this time in the library. Because somehow, you knew. This was just Ni-kiâs wayâsilent, unspoken care hidden behind his cool exterior.
And that was enough for now.
One evening, during one of your usual study sessions in the library, you were stuck. The upcoming exam loomed over you, and no matter how many times you read the same question, the answer refused to reveal itself. You sat there in silence, frustration building as you stared blankly at the page in front of you.
The library was quiet, save for the occasional rustle of parchment and soft footsteps in the distance. Ni-ki sat across from you, as usual, his head bent over his own work. The silence between you two was comfortable by now, and you didnât expect it to be broken anytime soon. You sighed, trying to push through the mental block that had settled over you.
Then, you heard movementâa soft rustling. Glancing up, you saw Ni-ki standing. For a moment, you thought he was leaving, and disappointment bloomed unexpectedly in your chest. You looked back down, resigned to continuing your struggle alone, but then something surprising happened.
You felt the faint shift of air and the quiet creak of the wooden bench, startled, you turned your head and found him sitting right next to you. His presence was closer than it had ever been during these sessions, and it made your heart race for reasons you didnât entirely understand.
"Where are you stuck?" Ni-ki asked, his voice soft but clear. There was no trace of his usual distance, just a quiet sincerity that caught you off guard.
Blinking, still mildly in shock from the sudden change in his behavior, you pointed at the question that had been giving you trouble. You half-expected him to glance at it, make some passing comment, and return to his seat. But instead, Ni-ki leaned in slightly, examining the material with a focused expression.
He began speaking, his voice calm and smooth as he explained the concept in clear, concise terms. There was a quiet assurance in the way he spoke, his words precise and easy to follow. He wasnât just repeating the textbook eitherâhe was breaking it down in a way that made it understandable, relatable even. You listened closely, hanging onto each word, and slowly, like fog lifting from your mind, the confusion began to clear.
With each sentence Ni-ki uttered, the material started to make sense. What had seemed impossible moments before was now manageable, the concepts clicking together as he guided you through the steps. His voice had a soothing quality to it, calm and unhurried, like he had all the time in the world to sit with you and explain.
You found yourself glancing at him occasionally, taking in the way his eyes stayed fixed on the book, his brow slightly furrowed in concentration as he worked through the material with you. There was something unexpectedly gentle about the way he spoke, something that contrasted with the cold, distant persona he usually kept up. And in this moment, sitting side by side in the dim light of the library, it was hard to remember why you had ever thought of him as distant at all.
When he finished explaining, you stared at the page for a moment, absorbing the new understanding. It felt like a weight had lifted, and for the first time in hours, you felt a surge of confidence that maybeâjust maybeâyou could actually manage this exam.
"Does that make sense now?" Ni-ki asked, his voice still soft.
You nodded, almost dazed. "Yeah⌠it does. Thanks."
He didnât say anything in response, just gave a small, barely noticeable nod before settling back into his seat, returning to his own work as if nothing unusual had happened.
But something had shifted between you. You werenât sure what it was exactly, but the air felt different nowâless like the quiet companionship you had grown used to and more like⌠something else. Something unspoken.
You sat there for a few moments longer, still processing both the study material and the fact that Ni-ki had just sat next to you, helped you. He hadnât done it begrudgingly either; he had simply done it because you needed help. And his presence, his voice, had made all the difference.
As you returned to your notes, you couldnât help but glance at him again, wondering what other sides of Ni-ki lay hidden beneath the surface.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
One evening, after hours of studying and flipping through books, you found yourself exhausted. Your eyes were burning from reading the same passage over and over, and you sighed loudly, resting your head on the table. Ni-ki glanced up from his work, giving you a quizzical look.
âLong day?â he asked, his voice softer than usual, almost concerned.
You nodded, not lifting your head. âYeah. Between Potions, Transfiguration, and Herbology, I feel like my brain is going to melt.â
There was a pause before you heard him shifting in his seat. âPotions is your weakest subject, right?â
You looked up, blinking in surprise. It wasnât like Ni-ki to make small talk, and the fact that he remembered your struggles in Potions caught you off guard.
âYeah,â you admitted, sitting up straighter. âIt just doesnât click for me like other subjects do.â
Ni-ki seemed to consider this for a moment before responding, âI used to be terrible at Potions too. In second year, I once brewed a Sleeping Draught that knocked out half the class. Snape wasnât pleased.â
Your eyes widened in surprise, a laugh escaping you. âNo way! You, bad at Potions? I canât believe it.â
âEveryone starts somewhere.â
Another time, while working on your Charms essay, you noticed Ni-ki was unusually quietâeven for him. He wasnât reading or writing, just sitting there, staring at his open textbook with an intense focus that seemed off.
You hesitated before asking, âAre you okay? You seem⌠distracted.â
He didnât look up at first, his fingers absentmindedly tapping the table. âIâm fine,â he said, but his tone lacked its usual confidence.
You waited, sensing that he wasnât fine at all. After a long moment of silence, Ni-ki finally spoke again, quieter this time. âIâm⌠just thinking about some things. Itâs nothing important.â
You could tell that was a lie. He was always so composed, so in control of his emotions, that seeing him unsettled was strange. But you didnât push him. Instead, you offered something simple.
âIf you ever want to talk, Iâm here.â
Ni-ki glanced at you, his expression softening just a little. He didnât say anything, but the small nod he gave you felt like a thank you.
Another late night, the library was almost empty, save for you and Ni-ki at your usual spot. You had been studying for hours, and exhaustion was starting to settle in. You stretched, groaning as you reached for your quill.
âI canât do this anymore,â you muttered. âMy brain is fried.â
Ni-ki glanced up from his book, closing it with a quiet snap. âTake a break.â
You blinked at him, surprised by the suggestion. âYou? Telling me to take a break? Whatâs gotten into you?â
âEven I take breaks sometimes.â
Skeptical, you raised an eyebrow. âReally? Iâve never seen it.â
Instead of responding, Ni-ki stood up and stretched, motioning for you to follow him. âCome on. Letâs walk around for a few minutes.â
Confused but curious, you followed him out of the library and into the cool night air. The two of you walked in silence for a while, the soft breeze helping to clear your mind. After a few minutes, Ni-ki broke the silence.
âYou push yourself too hard sometimes.â
You glanced at him, surprised by the observation. âYouâre one to talk.â
He shrugged âMaybe. But I know when to stop.â
But perhaps the most unexpected moment came one late afternoon, as you both sat in the library, quietly working on your respective assignments. You were in a lighter mood that day, having finally finished an essay that had been plaguing you for weeks. Feeling more relaxed, you absentmindedly began talking about the ridiculous antics of a few fellow students during Herbology, mimicking the professor's reactions with exaggerated gestures and voices.
Ni-ki, as usual, didnât say much, just listened with his usual calm expression. But then, something shifted. When you imitated Professor Sprout tripping over a Mandrake root, you caught itâthe faintest twitch of his lips. At first, you thought you had imagined it, but then it happened again. His lips curved up into a small smile, and for a brief moment, Ni-kiâs usually composed face broke into something entirely different.
You froze mid-sentence, staring at him in shock. Ni-kiâquiet, serious, and often unreadableâwas smiling. Not just a polite smile, but a genuine one, and you could see a glint of amusement in his dark eyes.
âWhat?â he asked, raising an eyebrow as he noticed your stunned expression.
âI⌠I didnât know you could smile,â you blurted out, completely forgetting your earlier train of thought.
Ni-kiâs smile widened, and then, to your utter disbelief, a soft chuckle escaped him. It was quiet and brief, but it was thereâa real laugh. And suddenly, the cold, distant image you had of him cracked just a little more, revealing something warmer, something softer beneath the surface.
He quickly composed himself, the smile fading but not disappearing entirely. âIâm not a statue,â he said dryly, though there was a playful glimmer in his eyes that you had never seen before.
âI mean, I guess I just assumedâŚâ you trailed off, still processing the fact that you had just witnessed Ni-ki laugh.
And then, with a small smile still playing at the corners of his lips, Ni-ki returned to his work, leaving you to sit there.
But one of the most memorable moments between you happened during a study session where, for once, things were going smoothly. You were both focused on your work when a random thought popped into your head, and without thinking, you said it aloud.
âDo you think Professor McGonagallâs animagus form ever accidentally knocks things off tables like a real cat?â
Ni-ki looked up at you, clearly confused. âWhat?â
You laughed, suddenly realizing how ridiculous the thought sounded. âI mean, sheâs a cat, right? What if she just canât help herself and bats things off desks?â
For a moment, Ni-ki just stared at you, and you thought he was going to tell you off for not focusing. But then, to your utter shock, he started laughingâa real, genuine laugh. It wasnât loud, but it was pure, and the sound of it made your heart skip a beat.
âWhy would you even think of that?â he asked, still chuckling.
You shrugged, grinning. âI donât know. It just popped into my head.â
Ni-ki shook his head, still smiling. âYouâre ridiculous.â
But there was no malice in his words, only a warmth that hadnât been there before. And in that moment, you realized just how much closer the two of you had become. And seeing him laughâreally laughâwas something you wouldnât forget anytime soon.
----------------------------------------
It was a quiet afternoon when it happened. You had just finished another study session in the library with Ni-ki. He had helped you with a particularly difficult problem, and though he was his usual quiet self, you had left feeling a sense of warmthâlike things between you were truly starting to shift. Maybe Ni-ki didnât always show it in public, but you were sure he valued your time together, even if it was mostly in the library.
However, as you made your way through the corridors, feeling content from the productive session, a group of girlsâNi-kiâs admirers, if you were honestâblocked your path. Their expressions werenât friendly, and you could tell right away that something was off.
Before you could say anything, they pushed you into an empty classroom, closing the door behind you. The leader of the group, a girl you recognized as one of Ni-kiâs more obsessive followers, crossed her arms, sneering.
âSo,â she began, voice dripping with disdain, âyou think you're special, huh? Just because you spend time with Ni-ki in the library?â
You froze, your heart pounding. You didnât know what to say, so you just stared at them, trying to keep calm.
âDo you actually believe he cares about you?â another one chimed in. âHeâs just too polite to tell you to leave him alone.â
You opened your mouth to defend yourself, but the leader cut you off. âOh, please. He pities you. You should hear the things people say. Theyâre always wondering why he wastes his time on someone like you.â
Her words hit hard, and before you could stop yourself, you blurted out, âThatâs not true. He helps me because heââ
âBecause he what?â she interrupted with a cruel laugh. âBecause he likes you? Donât be stupid. He only tolerates you. He never talks to you outside the library, does he?â
That made you pause. It was trueâNi-ki never approached you in the halls, never spoke to you outside of your library sessions. He barely acknowledged you in class unless it was absolutely necessary. Even when you saw him with his friends, he acted as if you didnât exist.
They could see the doubt in your eyes, and the girl smirked, sensing victory. âSee? You know itâs true. If he really liked you, why would he act like you donât exist when youâre not sitting across from him in the library?â
You stayed silent, unable to find an answer. The doubts they were planting in your mind started to grow roots, wrapping around your thoughts and pulling you into a spiral of overthinking.
âHe probably thinks youâre a burden,â one of the girls said with a mocking laugh. âI mean, why else would he avoid you in front of his friends? He doesnât want them to see him hanging out with someone like you.â
The words stung, each one cutting deeper than the last. You tried to fight back, tried to tell yourself that Ni-kiâs quiet nature didnât mean he didnât care, but their accusations fed into your worst fears. What if you really were just a burden to him? What if he did pity you, and thatâs why he never spoke to you outside of your study sessions?
You kept quiet, and they could see they had hit their mark.
âFace it,â the leader said, stepping closer with a satisfied smirk. âNi-ki feels sorry for you. Youâre nothing to him.â
You bit your lip, holding back the sting of tears. You didnât want to give them the satisfaction of seeing you cry, but the words had already wormed their way into your head. Why did he only talk to you in the library? Why didnât he ever approach you outside of that space? You thought you had gotten closer to him, but maybe you had been wrong all along.
They left you there in the empty classroom, their mocking laughter echoing in the halls as they disappeared. You stood frozen in place, your thoughts swirling with doubt and confusion, questioning everything you thought you knew about Ni-ki and your growing connection with him.
That one question kept repeating in your mind: Why didnât he talk to you outside of the library?
After that confrontation in the empty classroom, you couldnât shake the words that had been thrown at you. The girls' taunts, the doubts they had planted in your mindâthey echoed endlessly, gnawing at your thoughts and twisting everything you thought you knew about your relationship with Ni-ki. Every time you walked through the halls, you felt a strange weight on your chest.
You began to pull away, slowly at first. It started with cutting your library sessions shorter. Where once you might have lingered for hours, speaking to Ni-ki about anything and everything, now you found yourself packing up your things earlier, offering hurried excuses about homework or other commitments. Ni-ki would glance at you but never say much, and his silence only added to your doubts. It was almost like he didnât notice your growing distance, or maybe, you thought bitterly, he didnât care enough to ask.
The distance grew wider as the days passed. You started skipping your library sessions altogether, avoiding the places you knew Ni-ki would be. The once-familiar space where the two of you had shared quiet moments now felt like a weight, a place filled with uncertainty and confusion. You didnât know what to make of your feelings, or of Ni-kiâs. Were you really just a burden to him? Did he pity you, as they had said?
It hurt too much to face him, so you stopped trying.
In the hallways, you could feel his gaze on you. Even if you werenât looking, you knew when Ni-ki was nearby. It was as if some invisible thread still tied the two of you together, but now it felt frayed and fragile, a connection you didnât know how to mend. You passed by him in the corridors, your head down, avoiding his eyes at all costs. In the Great Hall, you chose seats far away from where he and his Slytherin friends sat. But somehow, it didnât matter. You could feel his eyes on you from across the room, his gaze following your every move, and each time, it sent a wave of guilt crashing over you.
You never looked back at him, though. You couldnât.
You skipped classes you shared with him. It started with one or two missed lectures, but eventually, it became a pattern. Without him, you struggled, barely scraping by with borrowed notes from friends. They werenât as clear or detailed as Ni-kiâs notes, but they would have to do. You couldnât bring yourself to ask him for help again.
Despite all your attempts to avoid him, Ni-kiâs presence lingered everywhere. You didnât know if it was your mind playing tricks on you, or if he really was watching you more closely now. Whatever it was, you felt more conflicted than ever. You wondered if he noticed your absence, if he cared, but then that gnawing insecurity crept back in, reminding you of what those girls had said. Heâs just too polite to tell you to leave him alone.
The more you thought about it, the more you withdrew. Doubts clouded every memory of your time with Ni-ki, twisting your perception of everything heâd done for youâthe notes, the help with your studies, the quiet moments youâd shared. What if it had all been one-sided? What if you had been nothing more than a project, a pity case?
And so, you kept your distance, avoiding the boy whose piercing gaze you could no longer bear to meet, and wondering if maybe, in the end, they had been right all along.
-----------------------------------------
You had been so lost in your thoughts, your mind circling around the same questions, the same doubts, that you didnât even realize where your feet were taking you. It wasnât until you glanced up that you noticed the dim, cold lighting of the dungeons, the walls lined with stone, and the distant murmur of voices. You froze, recognizing how close you were to the Slytherin dorms.
Instinctively, you were about to turn and head back the way you came when the sound of laughter caught your attention. It was light, warm, and carefreeâa sound that felt almost foreign in this part of the castle. Curious, despite yourself, you peeked around the corner.
Your breath caught in your throat.
Standing there, casually leaning against the wall, was Ni-ki. His head was tilted slightly back, his face scrunched up in genuine amusement, his white teeth flashing in a wide grin. He was laughing, his eyes crinkling at the edges, his normally stoic expression completely replaced by something so light and happy that it shocked you. You had never seen him like this before. His laugh, his smile. It made him seem younger, softer, almostâŚadorable. For a moment, you were completely transfixed, unable to tear your gaze away from him.
But then, your eyes flickered to the people surrounding him. His friendsâother Slytherins you recognizedâwere standing nearby, laughing along with him. Among them, you spotted a few of the girls who had cornered you in the empty classroom, their cruel words still echoing in your mind. The sight of them, standing so close to Ni-ki, chatting and laughing as if everything was normal, sent a jolt of discomfort through you.
And then, before you could react, one of Ni-kiâs friends noticed you. His expression shifted slightly as he leaned in to whisper something in Ni-kiâs ear.
Ni-ki turned.
Your heart dropped.
His gaze locked onto yours from across the hallway, his laughter fading instantly. Your body reacted before your mind could catch up, a gasp escaping your lips as you quickly turned on your heel and speed-walked down the hallway, trying to put as much distance between yourself and that scene as possible.
Your heart was pounding, your thoughts racing. He was laughing with them. With those girls⌠The image of his bright smile, so carefree, so natural, was seared into your mind, but it was tainted now by the memory of the people surrounding himâthe people who had made you doubt everything.
Had he heard what they said? Did he know?
You didnât wait to find out. All you knew was that you needed to get as far away from the dungeons, and from Ni-ki, as quickly as possible.
You didnât exactly know how you ended up in the library, but here you were, tucked away in a quiet, hidden corner that no one ever really bothered with. It was your place, somewhere you used to come to study, or more recently, to avoid. The shelves towered above you, enclosing you in their safe, comforting silence, but it did little to ease the heavy weight in your chest.
Wiping away the stray tears that had already started to fall, you slid down to the floor, pulling your knees up to your chest. Your bag dropped beside you with a soft thud, the books spilling out carelessly, but you didnât bother to pick them up. It felt like too much effort, like you couldnât muster the energy to do anything but curl in on yourself.
Tears fell freely now, and you buried your face in your arms, trying to muffle the soft sobs that escaped. Everything had just⌠built up. The confusion, the distance, the hurt from what Ni-kiâs admirers had said, and now seeing him so happy without you. You had tried to tell yourself that it didnât matter, that he was just a library acquaintance, but the truth was that it did matter. More than you wanted to admit.
The quiet of the library felt like it was pressing down on you, suffocating in its stillness, yet at the same time, it was the only place where you could let go like this. Where no one would see you, no one would ask questions, and no one would tell you that you were being silly for feeling this way.
You cried softly, the hurt youâd been bottling up for so long finally breaking free. The words of those girls echoed in your mind, their sneering voices telling you that Ni-ki pitied you, that he didnât care, that you were nothing to him. The worst part was that you had started to believe it.
The image of Ni-ki laughing with his friends flashed before your eyes again, and it only deepened the ache in your chest. He seemed so happy, so⌠distant. And you? You were nothing but a fading presence, something he could ignore outside of your shared library sessions. You had convinced yourself that maybe you had become friends, maybe there was something more, but now, it all felt like a lie.
The sobs came harder now, your chest tightening painfully as you curled further into yourself. You didnât want to care this much. You didnât want to feel this way. But here you were, hiding in the shadows of the library, crying over someone you werenât even sure cared about you at all.
The quiet shuffling beside you broke through your tears, making you look up from your curled position. Your heart skipped a beat when you saw Ni-ki standing right there, holding your bag in his hand, his face full of worry. His usually composed expression was soft, eyebrows knitted together as he searched your face.
"You okay?" he asked, his voice gentle, almost hesitant.
You sniffled, quickly wiping your nose with the back of your sleeve and nodding, though your heart wasnât in the gesture. You looked away, half-expecting him to leave like always, to walk away and give you space. But instead, you heard him set his bag down. You glanced at him, shocked, as he sat beside you on the floor.
Ni-ki leaned back against the shelves, closing his eyes for a moment before sighing deeply. "I know youâve been avoiding me," he said, his voice softer than usual, yet it held a vulnerability you werenât used to hearing from him. He opened his eyes, looking directly at you, and asked, "Did I do something wrong?"
You sat up, startled by his question. "What? No, no, of course you didnât!" you answered quickly, panic rising in your chest.
He tilted his head slightly, clearly unconvinced. "Then whyâŚ" His words trailed off as he sighed again. He looked at you, his expression filled with something close to concern. "Please⌠tell me. Iâm worried about you," he admitted, his voice quiet.
His words made your heart clench. You could see the sincerity in his eyes, and it made it harder to stay quiet. You gulped, trying to steady yourself. This was the moment you had been dreading. You didnât want to tell him, didnât want to say the words that had been haunting you since that confrontation. But seeing him here, sitting beside you, waiting for an explanationâit was enough to make you break.
"IâŚ" You began, your voice shaky. "Itâs not you, Ni-ki, really. You didnât do anything wrong." You took a deep breath, trying to calm your racing thoughts. "Some girls⌠they confronted me, said that you pitied me. That you thought I was a burden⌠and it got in my head. They asked why you never talk to me outside the library, and⌠I started wondering if they were right."
Ni-kiâs expression shifted immediately, his brows furrowing in confusion. "What? Why would they say that?"
You shrugged, looking down at your hands. "They said I was stupid for even thinking we were friends⌠that I didnât matter to you outside of studying."
There was a long pause, the silence hanging heavily between you. You couldnât bring yourself to meet his gaze, too afraid of what you might see in his eyes. But then, after what felt like an eternity, Ni-kiâs voice broke the silence.
"Thatâs not true," he said quietly, his tone firm but gentle. "Youâre not a burden. I donât pity you."
You slowly looked up at him, surprised by the intensity in his gaze. His usual calm exterior was gone, replaced by something raw, something real.
"I didnât know you felt like that," Ni-ki continued, his voice soft. "I⌠I just didnât think youâd want to hang out with me outside the library. I didnât think I was someone youâd want to be around like that."
Your eyes widened in disbelief. "What? But⌠youâre always surrounded by people. Why would you think that?"
He laughed softly, shaking his head. "Yeah, people, not friends. Most of them just see me as Ni-ki, the Slytherin prefect or whatever. I donât⌠I donât let people in easily. But youâŚ" He trailed off, searching for the right words. "I guess I didnât realize how much I enjoyed your company until you started avoiding me."
His words made your heart race, and you couldnât help but feel a flicker of warmth amidst all the confusion and hurt.
"Iâm sorry," you whispered. "I didnât mean to make assumptions or push you away. I just⌠I didnât know what to think."
Ni-ki shook his head, his gaze softening. "Itâs okay. I shouldâve been more clear with you." He hesitated for a moment, then added, "I want you to know⌠I donât just think of you as someone I study with. IâŚ" He trailed off again, his cheeks tinting the faintest shade of pink.
You blinked, caught off guard by the sudden shift in his demeanor. He looked vulnerable, in a way you had never seen before.
"I care about you," he finally said, the words slow and deliberate, as if he had been holding onto them for a long time. "More than you think."
Your breath caught in your throat at his admission. For a moment, you just sat there, staring at him, unsure of how to respond. The sincerity in his voice, the way he was looking at youâit made your chest tighten in a way that was both overwhelming and comforting.
"IâŚ" you started, your voice faltering. You didnât know what to say, how to express the whirlwind of emotions swirling inside you.
But you didnât have to say anything, because in that moment, Ni-ki smiled at youâgenuinely smiled, the corners of his lips turning up, his eyes softening. It was a small, almost shy smile, but it was enough to make you realize that everything you had been overthinking, all the doubts and insecurities, had been for nothing.
Ni-ki cared. He had always cared.
Ni-ki stayed by your side, his presence steady and comforting as you finally let the weight of everything spill out. You told him about the girls, your voice shaky at first, but as you continued, you felt lighter, as though every word lifted a little bit of the burden off your chest. His expression shifted the moment you named them, his brows drawing together in a way youâd never seen beforeâserious, almost dangerous.
For a moment, you worried that he might storm off, that his calm demeanor would crack and heâd go after them. But instead, he simply listened, his face tight with restrained anger, and when you finished, he surprised you once again.
He opened his arms.
Without a second thought, you slid into his embrace, feeling his warmth surround you, his arms wrapping securely around your back. His chin rested lightly on top of your head, and for the first time in what felt like forever, you smiledâa real, genuine smile.
"They were wrong," he murmured softly, his voice vibrating through his chest. "You mean so much more to me than they could ever understand."
You felt your heart swell at his words, the knot in your stomach slowly unraveling. He didnât hate you. He never had.
When you finally pulled back from the hug, your gaze met his, and the intensity of his eyes made your breath hitch. His face was still close, his cheeks tinged with the faintest blush. He opened his mouth to say something, but then he paused, swallowing nervously.
"IâŚ" he began, his voice a little shaky. "I need to tell you something." His eyes darted away for a moment before finding yours again, determination setting in. "Iâve been⌠thinking about this for a while, and I justâ" He sighed, clearly flustered. "I donât know how to say it."
You blinked, taken aback by his sudden vulnerability. Ni-ki, the calm, collected boy who never seemed to let anything rattle him, was stuttering and blushing, his usual composure unraveling before your eyes.
"I-I like you," he blurted out, his face now fully red. "A lot. I have for a while, but I didnât know how to say it. Iâm not good at this stuff, and I didnât want to make things weird between us, but when you started avoiding me, Iâ"
He was rambling now, his words spilling out in a rush, and you could tell he was struggling to keep up with his own thoughts. It was so unlike him, seeing him this vulnerable, this unsure. It was endearing.
Before he could continue, you acted on impulse, reaching up to gently cup his face and pulling him toward you. His eyes widened in surprise just before your lips met his.
For a split second, you could feel his shock, his body freezing beneath your touch. But then, just as quickly, he melted into the kiss, his hands coming up to cup the sides of your face, pulling you closer. His lips were soft, hesitant at first, but then the kiss deepened, his movements growing more sure, more confident. He held you like you were something precious, something he didnât want to let go of.
The world seemed to disappear around you, the weight of everything that had been bothering you fading away in the warmth of his embrace. It was just you and Ni-ki, the soft press of his lips against yours, the way he held you like heâd been waiting for this moment for longer than either of you realized.
When you finally pulled back, your heart was racing, your face warm from the intensity of the moment. Ni-ki stared at you, his lips slightly parted, still processing what had just happened.
"I⌠uhâŚ" He blinked, his usual calm demeanor shattered, and it made you smile.
"That was your way of saying you like me too, huh?" he asked with a sheepish grin, his thumb brushing softly against your cheek.
You laughed softly, nodding. "Yeah⌠I like you too, Ni-ki."
His smile widened, this time filled with a mixture of relief and happiness. "Iâm glad," he said softly, his voice warm and full of sincerity.
For a moment, you both just sat there, basking in the newfound closeness, the tension that had been between you for weeks dissolving into something sweet, something real.
"Letâs forget about those girls," he murmured after a while, his forehead resting gently against yours. "They donât know what theyâre talking about. All that matters is you and me, okay?"
You nodded, your heart full. "Okay."
