Some people think Bernie used you as a political mouthpiece. That reminds me of once when I was talking to Viv of the Slits and it was the time that Malcolm was doing something with them and we were talking about being Malcolm's puppets. She just said, 'At Least it's better than being Rhodes' puppets'. Bernie never told us what to say. He just told us to stop singing songs like 'She's Sitting At The Party'. He said toss that fucking song out of the repertoire, write something else. It was great to meet him. Along comes this guy who says "Think about what you're doing, have something worth taking out there. Don't just shamble out there". And it was great… we don't really have a relationship like that with him anymore . . . still, everything changes. But is there still a mutual trading of respect? Yeah, on good days. On bad days, there ain't much of anything. How do you feel now about the treatment of you as a working-class hero? Do you think it was a fair representation? Yeah, I do. Well, you certainly don't come from any poverty-stricken background. Yeah, but it's not where you come from. It's where you've been, what you've been through. If you just stood on your own two legs, do it that way, then it don't matter where you come from 'cos you learn all the lessons and you get wise, just 'cos you have to, to survive. what i like about this interview is that is shows how well spoken and intelligent joe was. its also is a rare case of him readily admitting in an interview that hes not working class and yet consciously represents himself as such

joe strummer was a man from a wealthy background and a good education who pretended to be working class for creditably. i dont think badly of him for doing this and i dont think it makes him a bad person. i just acknowledge that its a thing he did. personally i think hes got a good point about it being your life experiences that truly makes you who you are and how you were raised is only part of that. but i also think that fans of joe and the clash should know that hes not the working class hero he hinged most of his brand on being

i think its important to say that i have nothing against the clash. i like to give them a hard time but its out of love. theyre one of my favorite bands and i love reading about them. what i dont love is the obsessive mythologization and lionization of them that leads to the obscuring and twisting of the truth

by ironing out all of the stuff that doesnt fit the myth of the clash or the myth of joe strummer, we dont just loose the truth! we loose part of what makes the clash such a fascinating and impactful band!

Sir Lewis Hamiltion has a dog, his dog is the goodest boy in the world, and I know too much about his dog so now you must suffer with this knowledge as well enjoy:

Lewis adopted Roscoe, a English bulldog, from an online adoption agency in 2013.Roscoe is a purebred bulldog with both his mom and dad being show dogs. Roscoe's name was chosen because Lewis thought it but Crofty calling Nico ‘Roscoe’ at the 2016 Chinese Grand Prix makes me have my doubts. Lewis later adopted Coco, a female bulldog. Coco’s breeder was originally going to put her down due to how expensive her health conditions, mostly likely a heart condition, were but Lewis stepped in. If you are trying to tell Coco and Roscoe apart in photos, Coco has a wider white stripe on her head. It is widest around the top of her head. Roscoe has more wrinkles and a brown spot on his snout and his strip ends at the top of his head and a new one starts off center in the back of his head. Coco’s fang teeth are also out more often compared to Roscoe's little teeth and she is a lighter color than Roscoe. Lewis expressed that he adopted the dog because his family has always had dogs, mostly labradors, but he said he always wanted an English bulldog. Coco lived till June 2020 when she passed in the night. Lewis and Roscoe were with her. His mom has five dogs! Both Roscoe and Coco have passports so they can travel with Lewis. Lewis was also granted special permission from Bernie Ecclestone to bring the dogs to the padlock (I assume Charles will ask Domenicali to bring Leo to the Padlock). 

Lewis brought a jet to fly with the dogs which he then sold in 2019. Roscoe is good with traveling due to his love of napping. In his first trip with Lewis he slept through most of the flight waking up to go to the bathroom and to make Lewis put him in his lap. Lewis followed Roscoe's command, sleeping with Roscoe in his lap like “a baby.” Lewis said, “Roscoe is the best travel pet, he just sleeps with you.” As Roscoe is getting older, Lewis has made the decision to travel less with him, as the time zones were getting hard on him. While Lewis is racing, Roscoe stays in Los Angeles, California with dog trainer Kirstin McMillan (adventuresindogtraining on instagram). Lewis says he gets pictures of Roscoe everyday and checks in on him. Roscoe also attends a dog park or “Los Angeles' first canine social club” as stated on their website called ‘Dog PPL’ in Santa Monica. It is about $120 a month for one dog.  

Not only is Roscoe Lewis’s son but also his best friend. Lewis talked about his instant connection when they first met. Roscoe gets sad when Lewis leaves and happy when he returns. Lewis says, “Then I get the Frisbee and play with him, and that’s, for me, the biggest highlight – the unconditional love you get from a pet like that.” Roscoe loves quad bikes. In one interview, Lewis said it’s because he’s lazy so he likes being driven around. However, I think it’s because he has taken after his dad and wants to race. Roscoe also loves frisbee and his ball; it seems like he enjoys fetching and chasing after things, like chasing other cars down… Roscoe WDC 2024 confirmed. Lewis also has Roscoe involved in many of his projects, Lewis has hinted that Roscoe has a cameo in ‘Apex’, his movie starring Brad Pitt. When Fortnite asked him to be in the game he said he would only agree if Roscoe was in the game with him. Fortnite, of course, agreed because Roscoe is an angel. They ended up putting him in a jet pack. He was 1,500 V-Bucks or 2,400 V-Bucks with the ‘Lewis Hamilton Budle’ (IDK if thats a lot I don’t play Fortnite). Lewis also said Roscoe is the only person he can count on to stand with him along with Bono.

After Coco’s death, Lewis took Roscoe to the vet where they recommended starting him on a vegan diet similar to what Lewis has. This vegan diet is often recommended to bulldogs because they often have food intolerances or allergies to the meat proteins that can affect the skin and gastrointestinal tract. The vegan diet Roscoe is on still includes the same things without the meat proteins in it that caused him to have health issues. Lewis has said his breathing has improved and that he no longer has skin allergies. Roscoe also has physical therapy and acupuncture every week to help with his joints.  Roscoe has also had health issues that caused him to ejaculate, often uncontrollably, scaring baby Roscoe and leading to him getting snipped in 2016. Lewis did have his sperm frozen so that Roscoe could have puppies. Lewis said, “It’s great his genes will live on.” Lewis said his plans were to have Roscoe’s puppies after he retires but with the fanzone in 2024 Australia GP, it sounds to me like he may be looking sooner to have Roscoe’s pups or to retire. Last year, around the British GP, Roscoe had some issues regarding his spine. If I remember correctly, it involved a slipped hernia in his spine. Luckily, he got stem therapy and was able to attend the GP. He has been improving, and as of today he is back to normal.

Now for the part most people know about. Roscoe started his instagram account, roscoelovescoco, in January 2015 with a post featuring Coco and him captioned “Thanks for following us :).” The instagram account was originally a joint account with both Coco and Roscoe until 2020, although both did get solo posts. As expected Roscoe does make money off his Instagram, but he is also a dog model. Lewis said in a Silver Arrows interview in 2021 that he gets paid $700 a day which goes in Roscoe's treat fund. Roscoe also has sponsorships. His Thanksgiving party was sponsored by Bramble Pets, and he did content (including a commercial) for Zapp, a food delivery company Lewis invested in. Roscoe also appears in Lewis' vlog channel (it hasn’t been updated since 2021) multiple times. His last appearance is in a video “Adventures with Roscoe! | Lewis Hamilton Vlogs” which is also the last updated video on Lewis channel. He reached 1 million followers in 2024, which is more than Chouprette Lagerfield, the cat of Karl Lagerfeld (I am not joking, this man left a good chunk of his fortune [~$300 million] to his cat). Roscoe’s captions on his instagram posts were originally typed in a sort of third person first person mix but in October 2020, Roscoe finally established his first first person post with his famous lisp. However, the conspiracy expands as prior to this first lisp post, there are two posts on instagram where Roscoe (and Coco) are talking to us. The first one was posted April 2024 with Roscoe saying, ‘They put a thermometer up me bum, dad!’ In this speech bubble, Roscoe doesn’t have a lisp but does speak in a sort of baby talk. The next post in October 2017 features both Roscoe and Coco with Roscoe saying, “We got acupuncture today Dad!” and Coco saying, “It’s my favorite.” (More info about the dogs getting acupuncture is in the health section.) I will note his lisp comes and goes on his posts around November 2020. His lisp finally stays and its intensity does increase. There are also a few posts taken with Mercedes that don’t feature the lisp, and a few posts talking about Roscoe or Coco written in their “Dad’s” pov where it obviously doesn’t use a lisp.

STORY

Are Claude and Edelgard going to make some kind of Alliance now? I hope he's not stupid about it.

Claude's like maybe attacking the larger, richer country with more soldiers and resources wasn't a good idea, lamo. As much as I loved punching the Empire for once rather than just always fighting defensively, Claude really picked up the stupid stick.

It hurts every time I see Judith.

Man, I don't like how they retconned Gloucester. He's getting treated like a saint now. It's so weird. I feel like they softened up a lot of people, and I'm not sure i like it.

Haha, at least he called the Empire foolish for starting a two-front war.

CAMP

Oh, wow, no side missions. I have two paralogues unlocked though, so I'll probably do those.

Honestly, I'm a bit relieved. These levels take forever and I'm not even putting time into plotting builds or anything. I def want to replay AG one day where I put more time into just building out all my favs.

Honestly, part of me is tempted to drop AG and speed run SB and GW (which are both really boring so far, sorry) so that way I can just blow through them and take my time with AG, but I can't imagine not going back to AG to keep me going lol.

I'll just do an indulgent, S-Rank everything, unlock all the everything AG type run later.

MARIANNE & BERNADETTA B SUPPORT

Not who I would've picked to support Marianne, but I can see it.

Yep, this is as awkward as you would've guessed with neither sure what to say and lots of just "..." and "ums."

Bernie finally breaks the silence talking about pretty bugs. Marianne is into the conversation since she's a Disney princess animal lover. And Bernie just like creepy things.

Then it dies. And Marianne struggles to find another topic and talks about the sunrise.

In the end they had a successful conversation. Since I support Marianne having friends, I support this.

LORENZ & BALTHUS C SUPPORT

So why does Balthus get a support with Lorenz, but not Hilda?

Balthus asked Lorenz about a Claude investigation, but Lorenz doesn't know much about it.

Lorenz thinks Balthus' father is behind the questions. Balthus is doing it for money, unsurprisingly.

Lorenz puts down Balthus as a corrupt commoner, but Balthus is secretly a commoner, which doesn't surprise me since Hilda and Holst are his buddies.

Lamo, Balthus said Lorenz says whatever just pops into his head. Doesn't sound like a compliment.

BALTHUS, HOLST, & HILDA PARALOGUE

I'm using two of the three, so this shouldn't be too bad. I can make Balthus an adjunct.

Balthus is hiding from someone, then turns around and asks Hilda and Shez for money. Hilda encourages him to pay them back. Then Balthus leaves.

Holst arrives and bothers Shez about bothering Hilda. Then they catch him up about Balthus.

Balthus sounds like an absolute nightmare and asshole of a person, ngl. He steals from people, fights, and drinks. Hilda and Holst can do better.

Oh, shit. The goal is to rescue Balthus, so I can't just rescue him? But the Golden Deer are basically broke, so IDK if I can level him up enough to survive.

So his stepmother sent assassins after him because she wants her younger son to lead instead. Honestly, don't blame her for that last half, but big yikes.

Ok, that wasn't too bad since I got to control Balthus pretty quickly.

Balthus seem wholly unbothered by his step-mother trying to kill him. He talks about it like she's throwing a tantrum, lol.

Did Balthus' real mom raise Shez?

LEONIE & SHAMIR PARALOGUE

Welp, they didn't get a support this time, but they got this at least. Feels bad Shamir didn't get one with Cyril, but I don't think the poor dude is even playable this time around.

Shamir is trying to pull a mysterious vanishing act and Shez can guess what she's up too including romantic rendezvous, fighting, or drinking. See, this is why Catherine and Shamir are meant for each other.

Ohhh, Shamir is breaking up with someone.

Not a former lover, though. A noble who has an infatuation with her and is threatening her if she doesn't come back. Shamir plans on just dealing with it herself.

Lamo, Shamir doesn't mind killing them.

Leonie is leveled up, but not Shamir, so Leonie will just tout her around.

Shamir burned the captain bad - "You're still alive. I guess it's true only the good die young." Like, damn, woman.

They sent a whole army against Shamir lol.

Cool to see three mercenary women all talking mercenary stuff.

Wait, WHAT? A WOMAN is the one after Shamir. Go off, Fire Emblem.

Leonie, my sweet summer child, has no idea what Shamir was alluding to. That's Caspar/Hilda support levels of naive, except Leonie's older lamo.

MAIN BATTLE/STORY

Short chapter this time around, which is nice. I saw it's the same for Scarlet Blaze in chapter 9. I'm assuming Azure Gleam will get a chapter like this too, except that time I'll be bummed.

Shahid has no personality outside of bloodthirsty idiot.

So Shahid has no clue that Claude is in the army he's attacking. So Edelgard is the only one the writers don't make kill their own family. Claude and Dimitri are just built for angst.

Yep, here's a cut scene where poor Claude gets to kill family now. He should've just let Shez do it. Cool cut scene though.

Claude thought he wouldn't feel bad about it, but he does. That's just being human, Claude.

Lorenz is like a whole ass 10 levels ahead of everyone else. Dude is a monster in this game.

Will the Golden Deer actually learn Claude is from Almyra this time? Claude lied again, saying he just went there for political stuff and that's why he meant Nader. Ah, well, maybe later on.

Shahid really was just a plot tool in the end. He had no personality and was just the evil prince from Almyra that makes it easy to wrap that up with a nice bow.

Lamo, Raphael gets closer to figuring it out about Claude than anyone else. Perfect.

Arval is like ugh, why are they celebrating? There's still a war going on. Arval is a party pooper, confirmed.

Claude feeling bad because he killed Shahid, which would have more weight if Shahid was an actual character.

Arval doesn't trust Claude, but I swear if I hear the word "scheme" in a Claude route one more time, I'm going to scream.

driver mentally comments that the woman seems 'completely comfortable with herself' which is an uncommon trait in LA

Bernie recommends the duck and driver gets it, and likes it

they talk about where they're going from there: Bernie says he'll probably head back east, Driver says he'll go back to his old life if he can

“Friend of mine claims the story of America is all about the advancing frontier. Push through to the end of it, he says, which is what we’ve done here at land’s end, there’s nothing left, the worm starts eating its own tail.” “Should have had the duck instead.” Despite himself, Driver laughed.

idk why that tickles me so much that the driver laughs here. like he's in the company of a man who should despise him for killing Nino and instead they're just. making jokes about things with each other? idk. the romance of it. Anyway

they walk out to driver's car and chat briefly about how yeah, Driver had a friend who shattered both hips in a crash and started working on cars instead of driving them. this may or may not be Shannon? so maybe he survived and they just never mentioned him by name and I missed that ksfbf

anyway. they go to shake and driver sees moonlight glint off the knife Bernie is about to stab him with and beats him to it, taking it and sticking it in his throat

He’d struck a bit central, away from the carotids and other major vessels, so it took a while, but he’d taken out the pharynx and breached the trachea, through which Bernie Rose’s last breaths whistled. So not too long. Looking into Bernie Rose’s failing eyes, he thought: This is what people mean when they use words like grace.

I'm too gay to comment on driver saying he sees grace in the eyes of a dying man. so I'm not going to say anything. but I'm thinking about it 👀

aaaand that's the book!!! I'll probably make a more coherent post about it another time but I liked it; I think the movie did a good job of putting things back together and adding things where things needed to be added. I liked that the book gave more focus on driver and Standard's friendship and I liked that he held such fondness for his foster parents that he knew he could trust them with the cat and gave them the money as well

seeing his backstory, even with as little as we get, was really interesting and I'll definitely be incorporating a lot of it into my interpretation of the ryan gosling 2011 version of the character

hi again!! no worries at all :) take your time replying lol, i know these updates are usually like. long. and your replies are so detailed! so i get it.

as for my initial confusion with the support system, it was kind of... everything? that i didn't really get at first? it was easier to find a system with byleth where i was getting supports quickly once i figured everything out, vs getting supports with the other characters was a little trickier.

dorothea and sylvain's supports were.... actually pretty good imo? i enjoyed their a support. their paired ending wasn't awful either, but idk. i think i'd just rather pair them with different people. as for ingrid, YEAH, i intentionally didn't get her to a support with anyone besides byleth bc i'm pretty sure the only characters she had paired endings with who i had recruited were felix and sylvain. and i was not doing that.

ferdie and hubert are good!! and MAN caspar and petra's supports..... SO good definitely recommend getting those. i liked their ending fine, but the supports were definitely a highlight and idk if i could do a playthrough without getting them. so interesting. next playthrough (where i'm planning on getting the dorothea and petra paired ending) i'm probably gonna get these two to a support again as well.

and YAYY i love supports between the girls they're sooo good it makes me so mad that so many of them only go to b support!! at least the ones i was getting last playthrough. but i'm v excited to see petra's and dorothea's. and YAY petra in a tree. i love that.

YEAH i thinkk my "recruit everyone possible" route is gonna be. CF. because in that route you can spare hilda and claude, who i like, and if i have to pick between killing dedue and dimitri or killing edie and hubert.... well. i like dedue but it's an easy choice.

yeah i played through marianne's paralogue!! definitely enjoyed it and it very much elevated her to my favorite non-eagle character last playthrough lol. i'm soo excited to see more of her!!

and ty for the class thoughts!! yeah increased mobility is good, i think i'll probably try putting at least more of my units on mounts this time around, but who knows. i like coming at battles and leveling from a character perspective, sometimes to the detriment of actual strategy, but it's fun at least, so. we'll see!

so. i've given little update on my playthrough because i. haven't really played that much. instead, i missed the eagles sooo bad that i convinced my brother to play and hoped he would pick the eagles (he did) so now i've been watching him play (and in true older sibling fashion. sometimes taking the remote and playing for him. just a little bit. it is my switch.) anyway! i now understand how you felt a little because i'm sooo worried he's not gonna side with edie. i've been subtly sprinkling in anti-church of seiros comments to influence his choices LMAOO. im also sooo sad he doesn't really like bernie or hubert </33 his favorites right now are petra and edie though which is good taste. and he also likes caspar and dorothea a lot.

i'm finding on a replay that i am so much more fond of ferdinand than i was my first time around. i didn't realize just how much he had grown on me until i was back at the start and everytime he speaks im like. omg that's my friend ferdinand von aegir. LMAO. still not gonna recruit him on my VW playthrough but it is absolutely gonna murder me not to lol.

anyway! i do plan on playing more VW today. i'm very excited about claude LOL. and i feel a little less distraught about betraying my eagle besties when i'm simultaneously watching a playthrough where that (hopefully) won't happen.

mm i see i see. i guess it makes sense that it was easier to get supports w/ byleth since that's like. the main character. and you basically get support points (????) from doing basically.... everything. like the instructing characters individually and even just choosing the correct dialogue choice during explore? it gets you support points or whatever so i can def see that being easier than getting stuff between 2 other characters. its esp annoying since w/ the others you mainly gotta do thw whole like... these characters must be in range of the same enemy unit to get the lil hearts (support points) during battle. and that can get tedious and like i said. annoying. and besides that... you have to eat a meal w/ them or do choir practice to boost support between the 2. which. can only occur so many times per explore. and that also requires you TO explore during free days. which also can only occur so often per month. hopefully that makes sense? dfknf i dont rly know where I was going w/ this. but anyway glad you understand what's going on w/ the supports a bit more now! good luck getting the endings you want this time around!!!! AND THE TEA TIMES TOO.... I TOTALLY FORGOT ABT THOSE.... butyeah youre right theres def a lot more that can be done to get byleth supports w/ the characters

NINTENDO AND INTELLIGENT SYSTEMS PLEASE TELL ME YOU CHANGED THAT IN ENGAGE...... i just want to see my bestie girl friends interact w/ each other without there being a guy involved is that too much to ask. which supports were you getting between girls last playthrough (eyeballs)? bc like... in previous games all characters w/ supports got to go up to A support.... just some (the ones between same sex characters :/) didnt have an S . which, im glad three houses changed that, in terms of same sex characters actually getting endings together, but sometinmes only having TWO supports between characters is sad

fandoms: ok first off i wanna say i dont . consider myself a fic writer? the one on my account ^ began on a whim. back in the sweet days of yore, summer 2019, on like my fifth watch of rocketman. the part where bernie says "we'll go to my raench. we’ll hide awaehy" hit, and i was like...... um. holy fucking shit. the idea was born. and so i was like, omg i bet ppl ARE writing fics about this. so i went, and i 👀, and i saw the dynamics people were wanting to read about, etc... & the particular one i skimmed through didnt do it for me. like, it just wasnt.. believable where it needed to be, stuff like that. ppl were wanting to read/write about an abusive relationship, but that random one, to ME, was totally off the mark. so, i took the idea i had (the ranch idea, which had branched by this stage into the telephone thing..), and concocted a story that depicted that in a more accurate, there-is-absolutely-nothing-sexy-about-this way. the answer to this question is: rocketman

best writing traits: i havent got any idea. again, someone who has read it might be better at answering this.. ummm. something i wanted to accomplish w it was making it one of those fics you'd read that stays with u for some time, ur invested, it’s full of detail, lore. relatability. which i feel like i did. theres stuff to piece together or like draw ur own conclusions about since it's told strictly from one pov. a fair amount lies between the lines. another thing is it's obviously dark, but it's also like . not too serious in places, and as a whole has got like a charming element (regarding the good stuff). SO, more self promo: if you at all cared about nlh n the characters i made up, u may love the second (2nd) pov of it. because there is SO much that i put into nlh that will be brought to light and wrapped up in a NEAT little PACKAGE 🎁 in little miss qat

spicy tangential opinion: im on board w yours amber. one of mine would be: if youre going to write about experiences you havent experienced, even in a fanfic, i feel like you should at least do a lil research on the way. it helps your writing, and also prevents you from putting potentially harmful content out there

From the unused map sprite, even if it doesn’t match the character’s sprite, Rhea bleaches her hair when she cosplays as Seiros, and we were robbed of the “two eyed Dimitri” map sprite.

I’ve finally found the beta “Felix’n’Annette were supposed to fight against Dimitri” convos, idk what was the beta AM, but here it seems as if Felix’n’Annette are fighting alongside Cornelia and the randoms Faerghusians in Firdhiad. Maybe they defected when Dimitri wanted to go to Enbarr, then Flèche happened, Dimitri returns home and has to fight against them? idk.

More interesting though, is the cut “trading” activity, where, apparently, we would have been able to send merchants somewhere to get rare and endemic products.

It’s interesting because it has some flavor text about the destinations!

Brigid A group of islands with abundant nature, floating in Western Fódlan. They lack in production of arms and goods, but they are excellent hunters and fishers, and are well-known for their unique cuisine.

They were unlucky in Civ and didn’t start near a mine of iron or copper? If only we could have more Brigid dishes, i’d be a happy nerd

Land of Albinea A vast land located Nothwest of Fódlan. They require a variety of resources for development. There are lots of famous foods that take advantage rich nature in the area. 

Albinea doesn’t have a lot of ressources for development (TFW no iron/copper) but apparently they have a lot of “famous food”. I think Albinean moose is used in some dishes?

Derdriu, The Aquatic Capital The capital of the Regan Dukedom, and the central part of the Alliance Territory. There are a lot of factories there, and they leverage the port to produce and export goods to build their wealth.

Look at those merchant republics exporting goods and developing factories, then what, they developed tariffs? Sleazy merchants. OTOH, from this description alone, I have the feeling the Alliance’s nobility desperatly tries to assert its authority through “ancient noble blood” and what not, because if someone is rich enough to have 70% of the factories used, and controls the trade, even if Count Gloucester recalls how Gloucester the Elite was the dudest bro in the world, rich merchants won’t give a fig about him.

Fort Merceus A fortified city, and the capital of the County of Bergliez. Extremely rich in agriculture and fishing thanks to the blessing of the fertile Gronder Field and Airmid River.

The Empire seized every fertile land in Fodlan? I remember a raunchy novel implying Cichol blessed the fields of Gronder (bla bla earth dragon magic?) but with the river + those magical fields, the Empire’s supposed to be self-sufficient, at least when food is concerned. It contrasts with the Kingdom where recolts aren’t that rad, some are forced to turn into Dagdas and Ingrid’s family deals with bad recolts.

Arianrhod, The Fortress City A fortress Kingdom city on the border with the Empire. They put a lot of effort into military preparation, but it's said that they have a surplus of equipment and due to their non-agressive defense policy.

TFW everyone works their butts to build a super fortress city but then your local nobles say it must be used to strengthen a “non-agressive defense policy” :’(. OTOH, Arianrhod being a non-agressive defensive “fortress city” near the border with the Empire means that, at least during the first part of the game, the Kingdom and the Empire weren’t at each other’s throats.

Almyra The great country to the East that has long been at war with Fódlan. The throttle on trade was loosened when the former king began his reign, and they now export many goods.

Wow, interesting bits here! Who is the former king this is talking about? Claude’s Almyrian Grandpapa? Of course greedy merchants from the alliance try to make some business (tm) and Almyra even exports goods! Maybe the pals raiding every wednesday are just a faction who doesn’t want to negociate/trade with their neighbours and only want to fight’n’feast, idk. Making peace through trade though, i’ve read it somewhere but i can’t remember where are they trading coal and steel?

Sreng Region A desolate region where the Sreng people live. It's said that Zoltan, the master swordsmith, once lived there, so there may be valuable weapons waiting to be discovered.

Alright who is Zoltan because we find his weapons in the game. Still sad that there’s nothing about the Sreng people, but talks about a swordsmith in a region where Birdie is sighted in the game makes me think a bit, maybe Zoltan is one of Macuil’s alias, like Cichol and Seteth, or Rhea and Seiros? “There may be valuable weapons waiting to be discovered” TFW you’re a thief trying to discover magic weapons in a desert but get attacked by a talking magic beast :’(

Fhirdiad, The Kingdom Capital The capital of the Kingdom located in Northwestern Fódlan. The study of magic is popular, and the people are said to be skilled at crafts, but the surrounding lands are barren.

Look the Fhirdiad magic school of sorcery gets a mention! It makes me wonder why Fhirdiaid pushes for magic studies but the Empire is supposed to have the most magic oriented army in the continent... Contrast with Bergliez again, the Kingdom’s lands are barren. And yet they still manage to have cheese. Fhirdiad randoms are supposed to be skilled at crafts, what, Cordelia asked them to craft spare parts for her Titanuses and the randoms obliged, not knowing what it would be used for? Or because they don’t have natural ressources, they had to craft a lot of things to compensate for the shitty climate and barren lands?

Morfess, City of Sorcery A desert city located far to the Southeast of Fódlan. The climate is rough, but the study of magic is popular, and it's said that their skill at weapons forging is also high.

Okay I'm pretty sure Morfis/Morfess specialities being “magic + weapons forging” was, in this version of the game, the devs trying to tell us that Macuil used to be there. Climate is rough, dude loves deserts. But as @damoselcastel​ pointed out, maybe Morfess/Morfis developed its own branch of magic and also uses it to forge weapons. TFW the only things we get from Morfis are a battalion of mole people looking mages and plums. Yes, plums.

County of Gloucester A territory of the widest plains in the Alliance territory. Agriculture and cattle-breeding are prosperous, and it's said that County Gloucester himself uses them to develop new foods.

Oh, so next to the economic mess/Fodlan’s version of Amsterdam in Derdriu, Count Gloucester rules over a pretty rural area of the Alliance? He develops new foods, like what? He tries to create fusion food? Now I imagine all kind of jokes made at Count Gloucester’s expense with various sheeps, when the Riegans just need to develop 3 more technologies to fully enter to the industrial revolution era. No wonder why he’s so salty :).

OTOH, again, more worldbuilding : apparently only the Kingdom wasn’t blessed with fertile fields? It sucks for them.

Enbarr, The Imperial Capital Capital of the Adrestian Empire that has a long history. More people there than any other city in Fódlan, and it also has a huge market that sells mostly food.

Compared to the description of the other capitals, this one feels flat. So, Enbarr is old and it has more people in its walls than in any other city in Fodlan. Market sells a lot of food. Enbarr dictates food prices in the continent or what? Or maybe the huge food market is like, the biggest food market in Fodlan where food from every part of the Empire is sold (it manages to enter Enbarr thanks to the canal?). I’m kind of disappointed, otoh, Ferdie reading an agricultural treaty gives him a new light, if food/agriculture is so important in the Empire.

County of Varley This area is lacking in water sources, which is rare within the Empire. It's said that they forge precious weapons and armor using the minerals taken from the Ogma mountains.

Fascinating to note, again, that the Empire is the bestest place to be in Fodlan because bar Varley, every area isn’t “lacking in water sources”. So maybe we have a lot of swamps in Adrestia, but at least there are no deserts. With water, you can grow stuff, so it’s a huge bonus for agricultural development. then why are the adrestians so nostalgic about a time where they controled a frozen wasteland and want to reconquer that frozen wasteland, like, it has nothing of interest no natural ressources nothing so why

Kupala This area is just a part of the Alliance's Territory of Margrave Edmund , but it's an autonomous region where the mountain people life. They produce weapons and armor, made with precious minerals.

Those tidbits were in the game before the DLC, so at that time we didn’t know was Kupala before Nemesis’s party. Interesting to note that this is an autonomous region in the Alliance, and not a part of the Alliance like any other territory (Leonie’s village). Maybe the Alliance thought it was too much of a hassle to keep an effective control over those parts of the mountains, for little benefit. Why needing to crush them when we can trade with them?

Territory of Margrave Edmund The region is almost entirely made up of coastal area or islands, and trade with far-off areas is thriving. You may be able to get something rare. 

Or maybe the Territory of Margrave Edmund is just some sort of puzzle, when the Lords needed to give him a territory because he’s a noble they thought about the most difficult, shitty place to administrate and thought about this place, islands, coasts and mountains. Totally not a difficult mess to send knights to keep order of something. Coasts + islands = pirates? But apparently, in the general Alliance trend, Edmund managed to trade with “far-off areas” instead of maintaining a military rule/dominion, and apparently, it works so well that he sometimes manages to get something rare!

Land of Dagda A vast land far west of Fódlan. Their weapons crafted with unique skill are well known. They are hungry for meat that you can only get in Fódlan.

Meat for weapons seems a good trade - I mean Dagdians weapons are supposed to be unique but also well-known. It’s such a shame we never see anything like that in the game :) IIRC Shamir doesn’t have a special Dadgdian pref bow and i hope they’re not talking about the fetters of dromi :’(

1. What did you do in 2020 that you’d never done before? Earned a graduate degree. Experience a pandemic.

2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I have no idea. I don’t think I made any. This year I wanna be more creative, but only in ways that will make me happy.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Jonathan and his wife had a bb.

6. What would you like to have in 2021 that you lacked in 2020? I’d like my confidence back. I don’t think I had realized that I’d gained some in my first two years of grad school until my new advisor kinda made me lose it all.

7. What date from 2020 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? March 131st. j/k Time wasn’t real so idk maybe Halloween when Sarah, Elizabeth, and I had a tea party in a historic cemetery and then watched RHPS on Sarah’s porch and ate Pho.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? MFA, I guess. Though it felt/feels fake because graduation and celebrations didn’t happen.

9. What was your biggest failure? Letting shit get to me. To be fair tho, not letting shit affect me probably would have been unhealthy. Rate the Ship -  Awful | Ew | No pics pls | I’m not comfortable | Alright | I like it! | Got Pics? | Let’s do it! | Why is this not getting more attention?! | The OTP to rule all other OTPs - IDK why everyone wants Ingrid to be sapphic when she’s the one (1) character who explicitly says that she’s not sapphic. Or at least, shoots down Dorothea’s flirting in the B support. I think there’s value in having a non traditionally girly character who’s still hetero, many girls who want bfs get told that they will never get one if they don’t act stereotypical and that sucks. Or you could even read her as aspec given that she’s not too interested in pairing up or being attractive, and that the Glenn thing was arranged. She can still admire him and be sad he died without necessarily having the hots for him after all they probably grew up together. Also I don’t really see the particular appeal of those 2 characters together, they don’t have that much in common and Dorothea has a bajillion better options including sapphic ones. 

How long will they last? - As long as it takes Ingrid to say she’s not interested

How quickly did/will they fall in love? - I kind of see why Dorothea might think she’s hot or mistakenly assume she’s into girls as the whole tomboyish look is something ppl sometimes do to communicate that, and she probably finds something relatable about their experiences re: slimy jerks. She does indisputably kick butt and have pretty hair

How was their first kiss? - I’ve had the experience before where the other person gives it a nice, proper try but you can tell they’re not really into it

For the rest of this meme I will not be a spoilsport and entertain the thought/ try to think about what it would be like if they DID get together. It’s certainly inconceivable to read it that way, perhaps Ingrid simply wasn’t ready yet at that time/ or it was an internalized thing.

Rate the Ship -  Awful | Ew | No pics pls | I’m not comfortable | Alright | I like it! | Got Pics? | Let’s do it! | Why is this not getting more attention?! | The OTP to rule all other OTPs - Sure why not?  There’s nothing in particular that makes me think “Wow those would go super well together” but also nothing to the contrary. I’ve seen good fic for it.  I guess they’re just the two dudes who get the most characterization and also sorta get along/interact, so there’s a lot to work with.

How long will they last? - Hm. Dimitri would strike me as someone would like to be serious and longterm about things. They would need to work out the politics first but there’s no reason why they couldn’t last

How quickly did/will they fall in love? - I’d say it wouldn’t take them that long to get started, but somewhat longer to really get to a deep level. Largely because Claude is quick to build surface friendships but slower to really show his real feelings, but also Dimitri wouldn’t necessarily realize that he’s holding something back or press the issue. It helps that they are both just likeable people tho. Dimitri is not going to pass up a chance for a heart-to heart talk. If he got through to that hidden more idealistic side of Claude I think they’d click and get something lasting going. They would definitely always have disagreements about their methods and are fairly different in how they deal with their feelings, but they both have the will to work with ppl with different opinions and build bridges. 

How was their first kiss? - Claude probably quipped something about how it was surprisingly passionate. Dimitri turned into a tomato that same instant.

Who was specifically not invited to the wedding? - Lorenz’ and Sylvain’s jerk fathers. They might be important nobles but they’re jerks. Edelgard, Arundel and Rufus would already be dead in the AM timeline but if they weren’t they wouldn’t be invited anyways. Claude seems like might actually counteract Dimitri’s tendency to take bad treatment out of politeness. Felix might say that he won’t come but then show up anyways.Or there would be some conspiracy to kidnap him and make sure he comes. Lysithea came up with the plan and recruited Ingrid, Hilda and Sylvain to help her.

Who is on top? -  Hm. I could see either doing it. Perhaps Claude would suggest that they switch it up for novelty. But Dimitri is definitely the little spoon, despite his actual size XD

Dimitri would just proudly stand by his adopted kid and Claude would handle the political fallout.

More funding is required, better training and better internal policies and structures to vette and review the officers is needed. Abolishing them will lead to anarchy. You are correct that Chaz is, but it is a microcosm showing the very things I stand against. I am against racism of all kinds, segregation is a form of racism. The us had a history where they did it too and agreed that it was wrong

In the uk we have no freedom of speech, people have been arrested for jokes, what's been said on Twitter, etc. There are those who say that it's ok to censor this and that because e they are problematic or it would be good for everyone. But that is how it starts. The US has so much freedom

Rocketman Watch #4 Thoughts

i have so many MORE thoughts can you believe it wow here we go

(i wrote these as i watched it so they’re in order im p sure)

man, his intro monologue during group therapy is just as gripping as it was when I first watched it. And the transition to the bitch is back is so fuckin good. My palms are sweating.

There’s some commentary about forgiving and loving your inner/past child, but I don’t have the words for it at this moment. In the beginning he’s staring down, confused and scowling at his child self, but at the end, he embraces him in a way his father and loved ones never did.

Was he in therapy/rehab WHILE touring and doing music? Stomping into the room in his regalia would have me believe so. I know group therapy was a medium for storytelling. Was it just signaling the very beginning of his story, because we go through different stages through his actions and clothing changes?

Lmao I imagine it must take some pretty cool parents to allow their, like, six or seven year old child to be in this movie. He said bitch so many times.

Took me a hot second to realize the orchestra he’s conducting is playing Rocket Man. The violins are so pretty. Imagine being picked to be in the orchestra on set and getting smile up at the tiny little kid who played Elton. My heart would absolutely swell seeing a little kid being so fantastic at this really intense job.

Kit Connor did amazing in his role. He’s fifteen and he’s already done so much! Imagine growing up knowing you played Elton John as a kid. Getting to work alongside him and his husband and the dozens of incredible actors. Wowie. I’d never shut up about it.

I LOVE how 12 year old Elton is playing the piano SO HARD and is trying to rock out as hard as he can while playing classical music. The boy wanna ROCK dammit.

Pinball Wizard is absolutely intense and loud and fun, but it DOES carry the tone of “god im SO miserable” under it all. You knew Elton wasn’t having fun.

God, there is SOMETHING symbolic about how he meets his child self at the bottom of the pool. Rock bottom? Apologizing? Wishing he could be better? Telling him he’ll never be better?

OH I watched a behind the scenes cut about the pool scene, and none of it was CGI. Taron was weighted under his robe and a SCUBA diver was on standby to provide oxygen. The singing and bubbles coming out of his mouth and stuff underwater was all real.

Dying to know about the choreography around the second chorus, about the undressing and twirling and dressing and injection and handing off of the bat and stuff. That sequence was incredible.

Bennie and the Jets. Damn. It fucks. I listened to it almost the entire time on my run today. (Five miles; I felt like garbage the entire time but it was good anyway.) The scene is wild. He’s in the middle of a drug induced haze orgy. He SHOULD be having the time of his life but he’s so goddamn miserable. (Also, the juxtaposition between Chris Fleming’s Bennie and the Jets is so funny.)

Part of the problem was that John never understood Elton. But, Elton broke it off with John, not the other way around like he said it was. He wasn’t the victim in that regard. John did treat him like shit though.

It’s CRAZY to watch Elton and his mom interact at the dinner scene. He gets accosted and accused of so much by his mom, claiming SHE’S the victim of his actions, making it all about HER and then he turns around and does and says the exact same shit to Bernie.

He yells “Oh, don’t be so dramatic!” at Bernie as he gets into a taxi. THE PROJECTION!! THE DEFLECTION!!!!

I know there’s only so much they can put in two hours, but I wish they showed more of Elton’s eating issues. He had bulimia for sixteen years before he got help. It’s Absolutely the Man With Anorexia in me, but seeing that even men deal with eating disorders quells the lonely aching something in me. I feel that much less alone, you know. Eating disorders aren’t a “woman’s disease.”

How do you think they did his hair? A wig adds more hair, not take it away. He didn’t get his hair cut for it did he?

Seeing Elton’s first love fall apart because John was such a selfish, heartless prick in reality makes me sad.

Elton hugs his inner child when he reconciled with everyone in his past. Goddamn. He found peace and forgiveness for himself, who he was, even after all that time.

When Elton asks him not to go, Bernie refuses, saying this is something he had to do on his own. Healing comes from within alone. No one can help you do it. People can guide you, but you have to work at it. It’s fucking lonely sometimes, but it’s so, so worth it.

I used to loathe I’m Still Standing since i heard it so much at work, but the movie changed my entire perspective on it. I love the slow build up as he exits the rehab center. You don’t get thrown into something so happy and fast paced and fun after a cathartic climax you need to drink in. And the pan to his hat with the rainbow stripe to his smile. I get chills every time. Elton feels so right and secure and happy in himself. At first I thought it was a bit cheesy, but accepting your sexuality, especially after all the hell he went through during his life, grappling with unresolved trauma and fear of abandonment, he absolutely should wear it loud and proud. It’s easy to think times are much easier now being gay, and it shouldn’t be such a big deal. Relative to 1975, it is easier. But it doesn’t mean it’s not such a rough personal thing to work through if you’ve been spit on and resented all your life. Being gay, coming out, and accepting and being comfortable with that fact must’ve been such a HUGE milestone in Elton’s recovery and self-esteem.

yesterday was weird. whenever i have a particularly overwhelming day i always mean to do two things 1) listen to my calm app meditation session and 2) check my horoscope. idk why, i don’t really care for that stuff but still get curious even tho i know ppl who profit from that stuff want you to feel vulnerable and seek guidance from obscurity. (i didn’t do either yesterday) (my day was nonstop busy and pls spare me the it’s-up-to-u-to-make-time spiel)  i got up early to go to a meeting with the schools superintendent of my coverage area, a woman who has a lot of power and with whom i want to have a positive, ideally symbiotic, relationship. she planned it under the guise of “oh we just typically meet with all new editors” and then as soon as i got in there, went in on me for a story i wrote in january that she thinks made her precious bond proposal look bad. she goes, i showed 15 ppl and they all think it slants against the bond (it doesn’t), and i said, you showed schools people? and she said yes, and community members lol ... (obvs schools ppl are gonna agree with their boss and possibly think it slants.) it’s funny, from my perspective, because i hear it from both sides. the chamber president came to me and said he thought it slanted pro-bond. lmao so u can never win. i was as balanced and fair as possible. when a person challenged the school district, asked a callous question or shared a (very fair) concern, i put the super’s response right under it. i was fair and balanced and objective, bc i’m good at what i do. and yes she was kind of offensive with some of the things she said, and i spit back “we have a good reputation at the herald, we’re not the NY Post.” and etc etc in the end i wasn’t personally offended (her agenda is obvious and i don’t really blame her), but she certainly was! and she said so, explicitly, more than once during the meeting. if the bond doesn’t pass, it’s a permanent mark on her record. i get it. and the schools deserve to be updated and match what’s happening academically (students are excelling). but at the same time, seniors on a fixed income, as well as other residents, can’t afford more tax increases. especially not a 20-year one attached to the AVs of their homes. this area already has some of the highest taxes in the country. anyway... other than the bond talk it went really well, i talked about stories i’d like to do that would highlight how progressive the district is... she told me about upcoming events and it was good and she also said she likes me and my pleasant personality O:))) and i like her a lot too bc we need more strong women and leaders in education who are progressive and who fight for children’s futures. plus she intimidates me and i tend to like women who intimidate me bc there are so many intimidating men, we need more intimidating women. those are my thoughts, at least.  after the meeting i went to the office and called the chamber president, with whom i have an even better relationship, and he goes “oh you millennials always waking up late” and i was like um actually i was at a meeting with the superintendent... hahaha and told him about it a little and in turn he told me about a potential huge development that might happen ooouuu juicy  then i did more stuff at work and was not that productive but i was productive in my personal life, if that makes sense, bc i called my health insurance company and cleared up my auto payment question and called Audible to cancel a subscription i apparently had for 14 months looool assholes and they’re gonna refund me so that’s good. then i went to yet another 2.5 hour meeting about the bond!!!! convenient timing for the meeting with the super, right??? lol i digress. a lot happened at the meeting bc the developers of the potential huge development were there and i talked to them about it... and a bunch of union workers attended the meeting and asked if the district would use union labor, to which the district said they legally couldn’t or something... gotta go over my notes but it was a lot. it was overwhelming. but then i went home to jake’s and cooked chicken and brussels sprouts on my own for the first time!!! and they were good! so that was productive in my personal life. on the way home from the meeting i had a panic attack, started hyperventilating and hysterically crying, bc i saw bernie wasn’t doing well (super tuesday) and kept thinking about my future and how developers at all the meetings i go to keep saying buzz words like “affordable housing” for “millennials” who are leaving NY in droves bc they can’t afford it... affordable, bitch, where? not here, not on LI, not in NYC. baby boomers fucked us out of medical coverage, housing, sustainable wages, and forced us to be in debt for the rest of our lives, and now they’re voting for fucking can’t-form-a-sentence biden? what the actual fuck. i was sick to my stomach. i think about how my own mother sees my struggles and continues to vote against her own daughter’s best interest. our parents, at our ages, had bought their own houses. the minimum wage hasn’t increased in over 10 years, and yet inflation has increased 20%, how does that make sense? how is that fair? we did everything right — graduated HS, got a college degree or two, landed full time jobs... and we’re fucked out of a standard of living. a decent, basic standard of SURVIVING. how is this freedom? best country in the world? laughable.  so anyway i was having a panic attack with all these thoughts swirling through my head, my emotions were a mixture of anger and sadness and couldn’t figure out which to express first, but i pulled over and focused on breathing and calmed down and went home and drank wine and hit the bong and watched black mirror, my favorite and most important show. and jake comforted me.

DIMITRI..... god i. i love him so much. i knew he was gonna be a mess even before the timeskip portrait had been revealed but wow. he’s just. so sad. so much!! so often.... you better believe that i started flailing about every time he would comment on my smile and how he loved seeing me happy. and yes i was incredibly sad in those months after the timeskip where he would barely even speak to me (or anyone for that matter) and i absolutely cried when The Thing happened and he began to open up again and i was just so proud of him and i???? i’m on the floor dying still

mercedes....i liked her the moment i saw her portrait. i was like “oh she’s cute!!! even more reason to pick blue lions” and she did not disappoint! there was this one support with byleth where she mentioned how she could usually tell when someone was worried about something and i was like “damn is mercie me” pfff but she’s a very nice and very loving mother figure. also she totally throws lorenz into the sun with her burns and i love it

figures sothis is voiced by cassandra lee morris. there was a very palpable morgana aura with the way she was always scolding me fdhkdgf but damn....i....really wasn’t expecting her to be so kind and understanding after jeralt died...and i was actually starting to miss her after she granted us her power.....

now dorothea.... i hate her hat i’m sorry i think it looks so stupid and now that i’m on ng+ i’ve changed her appearance so i don’t have to see if as much fdhgfdf her C support with byleth made me very “no thanks” towards her character since she seemed very much like a gold digger but...she got better....as much as i....didn’t think it would happen pfff but i really appreciate how patient she was with bernie... but also a slight yikes at her supports with hanneman

HILDA...first impressions was that she was just a lazy bitch. i mean i should’ve known since claude was explicitly like she’s the definition of lazy but i really didn’t like how she seemed to just take advantage of everyone??? but her A support with byleth really hit home and it.....changed how i saw her. also her timeskip outfit is cute. also her supports with mari are cute.

from the small snippets of dialogue i had with ferdinand, i kinda got the impression that he was just another lorenz and also extremely annoying about being better than edelgard but....he’s a sweet boy...and he’s cute...he kinda looks like alucard after the timeskip but he’s still cute but boy is his father not

dedue is very much the stoic type. a very tall, awkward man with a hidden gentle side.... funny how he ticks off most of the criteria of exactly my type but idk i just didn’t see it at first fdhskjfds i do think one of the things that had the biggest impact was when he shows up on the bridge all those chapters later after dimitri had said that he had died. i mean i knew that he hadn’t actually died but i was still...very emotional at that point fdhsjkfd also i had tea with him the other day and one of the topics was “dimitri...” and i’m dead SAME DEDUE SAME

i’m sure i can’t be blamed for thinking that sylvain was the typical silver tongued noble who flirts with every girl he sees... and i was very quick to call him a jerk in that C support....but it’s...very understanding actually; his way of rebelling. his supports with mercie were surprisingly cute until the “crest babies” part dsfskj and that part when he said he wanted to kill me was...jarring, to say the least but...he’s been through a lot....he’s a good boy

MY GOD. i was SO “oh god not this guy again” every time i saw him for like the first quarter of the game but then after we rescued flayn and he started being....y’know, not as “lady rhea why are you putting your trust in this STRANGER” he’s....very good. the brains of the whole monastery. everyone’s dad. and his blind overprotectiveness of flayn is really endearing as much as flayn doesn’t think so pfff

every time i saw cyril before the timeskip i was like “who is this sassy little kid” like damn he seemed so angry and unimpressed all the time. but, this may have been bc i didn’t focus too much on getting supports until after the timeskip, at least by then i was like “wow he actually doesn’t look like a baby anymore...” and also his bluntness was very amusing in his supports with hilda and manuela dfhskjfds

Kyle Kulinski Interviews Bernie Sanders

God, I wish this interview could have been lengthier. It's basically Kyle just asking Bernie, "will you promise a President Bernie Sanders will do [policy X,Y,Z]?" and it's so refreshing. Just straight to point, policy-centred questions.

I do have to say, I don't love Bernie's caginess on the foreign policy questions. He comes across as a lot more non-committal on what he'll do regarding foreign policy, as opposed to the domestic questions where his answers are more or less just, "yes, I'll do that." He seems to lean in the right direction on issues, but he isn’t willing to go so far as to commit to a course of action. It’s a lot more of a, “well, you know, we’ll have to take a closer look at that issue” sort of thing. Which is one very big reason, IMO, that the people who say a Bernie-Warren ticket would be perfect are misguided. Bernie and Warren’s strengths are both on economic policy, though Bernie is significantly better than Warren even in this regard. A Bernie-Warren ticket is superfluous at best.

Regarding foreign policy, Bernie has better instincts, but he doesn’t have nearly the same level of confidence in those views as he does on domestic issues; and while he’s made some good calls on certain issues, like the Iraq War, he’s also made some very questionable ones as well, like going all-in on Russiagate, calling Maduro a brutal tyrant while providing zero evidence, parroting the “Assad gasses his own people” talking point that’s long been debunked, and so on. In short, this is very much NOT an issue where Warren’s strengths can make up for Bernie’s weaknesses. Warren is significantly worse than Bernie on foreign policy, and Bernie leaves quite a bit to be desired in his own right. This was one of the main criticisms of him with any actual substance in 2016 (though it was also kind of a moot point, because the argument was that Hillary had “more foreign policy experience” when in fact all of that ‘experience’ was in making horrible decisions, but I digress). It’s also why a Bernie-Tulsi ticket would make far more sense than a Bernie-Warren ticket, and why if she’s not his pick for VP, Tulsi definitely needs to be somewhere in his administration. Preferably in a position like Secretary of State.

He does candidly say he doesn't understand why we're allies with a brutal regime like Saudi Arabia, which is refreshing af. So I’ll give him points for that.

Says he's "sympathetic" on the issue of ranked choice voting, but he doesn't say outright that he supports it, which is disappointing. There’s no real, good reason to not be in favour of it. Just in general, I really wish Bernie would make electoral reform more of a theme in his campaign, especially given that the DNC literally cheated him and defrauded his supporters last time out. On top of that, as I’ve already mentioned, he’s gone all-in on Russiagate, and you don’t get to keep saying another country rigged our elections (which is apparently worse than our own country rigging our elections, I guess?) while simultaneously saying zilch about how you’ll prevent future interference, foreign OR domestic.

By contrast, Tulsi Gabbard famously opposes this New Cold War nonsense and yet she has introduced specific legislation to secure America’s elections. Weirdly, basically none of her Russigater colleagues has signed on. Go figure, eh?

On a non-policy note, between this interview and last night's debate, I'm 1000% positive we're gonna get a buttload of talking points on how tired Bernie sounds, totally-not-disingenuous concerns about his health, etc. Meanwhile, the media has been falling all over themselves for weeks to defend why it's no big deal that Joe Biden's brain literally appears to be melting out of his ears. Or his eyes, as the case may be.

Is the resistance to Bernie's agenda among Democratic politicians solely ideological, or are his colleagues just corrupt, money-grubbing assholes? Probably a combination, but mostly 🤑

Will a President Bernie Sanders promise to end the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars within the first 100 days in office? 🤷‍♂️ Bernie talks about how he led the effort to oppose those wars, but he says he’s not certain if ending them within the first 100 days is feasible. Says he can promise that within the first 100 days he’ll “bring together” military and non-military personnel to start planning how to withdraw our troops, whatever that means; boasts that he’s the only Presidential candidate to have voted against all of Trump’s military budgets.

Will a President Bernie Sanders promise no new arms deals with human rights violators, including US allies like Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Israel? 🤷‍♂️ Talks about leading the effort in the Senate to oppose US involvement in the genocide in Yemen (he doesn’t call it a genocide, but let’s be serious), but basically ignores the actual question of whether he’ll oppose new arms deals with the aforementioned countries. Unfortunately, Kyle doesn’t press him for a firm ‘yes or no’ answer.

Will a President Bernie Sanders end the illegal US sanctions on Iran, Venezuela, and Cuba? 🤷‍♂️ Says he's inclined to say yes but needs to study the issue more. Says his administration would “try” to forge a foreign policy that is “even-handed” and “not supportive of brutal, authoritarian regimes like Saudi Arabia.” Says he’s not sure why we’re buddies with those dictatorial motherfuckers, tbh. Emphasizes negotiation over endless war.

How does Bernie feel about body cameras on lobbyists during meetings with politicians? 🤷‍♂️ Says corporate America wields too much power over our political system, lobbyists need to have as much transparency as possible, etc., but noticeably stops short of directly saying yes to body cams.

How does Bernie feels about ranked choice voting? 🤷‍♂️ Says he’s “sympathetic” to ranked choice voting, points out that it gives people more of a choice regarding candidates they support, but again neglects to confirm he supports it outright.

Michael Jordan or LeBron James? This is... an important question? I guess every interview is required to end with some fluffy nonsense, idk. Bernie says he respects LeBron James’s willingness to get involved in the political process. His answer is a great illustration of why Bernie is so popular. It’s not about personality; there are rarely any cute anecdotes with Bernie, he always brings the conversation back to policy. He doesn’t know how to do anything else, and that is exactly why we love him. It’s also why he’s the right person to take on Trump; unlike others in the race *cough*ElizabethWarren*cough*, he’s not going to get distracted or get down in the mud with Trump.
