I just deleted probably four or five reblogs from my page that were reblogs of Neil Gaiman. Being one of the few celebrities on Tumblr that has stayed on Tumblr through the years, he had some good reblogs. Unfortunately, he is not a good person.

I believe in sharing your thoughts. I believe that your opinions make up most of your character. I also believe that promoting the names of awful people on your blog is kind of a weird thing to do.

Were those reblogs relevant and did I completely agree with what was being said? Of course, that’s why they’re reblogs. Would I rather keep his name far, FAR away from my opinions and public appearance? YES.

The reason I even remembered I reblogged these things is because I was looking at the tags I was following, one of which was Neil Gaiman. I found that that tag has hundreds of thousands of posts and such, even as we know what we do about him. And what we know is exceptionally unsavoury.

Fuck you, Neil Gaiman. We thought you were good. FUCK you, Neil Gaiman. Get your sorry fucking ass off Tumblr, and off the internet, and get your fucking name away from Good Omens and Coraline and that one falafel episode of Arthur.

I would rather see people have to find new ways to express their opinions, rather than affiliate with the fucking scum Neil Gaiman is.

People need to stop blaming 'parasocial relationships' when it's revealed to the public that a famous person has done something controversial (or even a crime) and the public is upset. 'I can't believe xxx did that!' doesn't always mean that the person who said it has a parasocial relationship with xxx. Usually it's just our faith in humanity, we want to believe that everyone has some basic human decency (especially someone we might admire) and it's only natural to be disappointed when we learn they're a bad person.
