Something I really need Stranger Things fic writers to know is that no one in rural America was locking any doors in the eighties apart from the government and businesses. I remember when there was a big stink about "we gotta start locking our doors now how am I supposed to remember that every time I leave the house." People didn't lock the doors when they were home until at LEAST the mid-aughts, a lot of people STILL don't. "Oh we can't get into so-and-so's house/car because we don't have the keys!" You do not need the keys, just open the door. "I'm alarmed because I went over to so-and-so's house and their front door was unlocked so I instantly knew something was wrong." It would be much weirder if it was locked. If I showed up at my friend's house and the door was locked I would immediately assume something was wrong. If I lived in a town regularly invaded by monsters and patrolled by mobs of government agents/Russian spies/jocks with guns, I would assume my friend was currently being hunted.

Star just made me Chocolate Avocado Pudding (with my instruction) and my god, it's sooooo good. Earthy/a lil grassy, but we're gonna work on making it less grassy tasting but honestly I don't even mind it.
Love me a dessert that's mega good for you.

the lengths i will go to just to to avoid doing st*tistics for the pottery from my thesis...
#vacuumed. cleaned the bathroom. put my clothes away. washed the blanket. went to lidl to buy food stuffs. made a pineapple smoothie.#washed the dishes (small amount). mopped the floor in the bathrooms to remove greyish dirt from the tiles (big thing i hate doing this).#painted my nails and cut away the part that would break anyway.#and all of this after waking up at 12:30 💖💖💖💖#i had one meal today (2 sandwiches for breakfast)#now im preparing to write the bestest paper about crac des chevaliers for a class that doesn't matter at all and i don't have to focus on i#too much#but you know#anything to avoid the statistics </3#douglas p being edgier than usual bc thats how i feel

But they're samey and don't stretch me to work on anything below the chest#Fullbodies are good! I like seeing the whole of my characters! And luckily Charm is cute from head to toe so drawing all of her is fun :)#If anything I still struggle with her hair so the upper half of her is probably easier to cut off generally lol#1/3rd hair type design lol#I love her shoes sm ahhh she's so cute <3#Ballet-style pose! #i was very confused on why i felt so horrible and i couldn't figure it out. but i just did thing i did yesterday but inverse.#i had breakfast and half a sandwich for lunch. but nothing for dinner.#i was too scared to go downstairs. because i thought i would get in trouble for eating late. but i didn't.#i just spent hours think that was going to happen#i had some chips queso and salsa verde. ive never has salsa verde before. it tastes green. but its spicer than red salsa.#i also got a juice pouch. i don't think i know how to schedule what i eat during off days. during school this doesn't really happen.#i also still have food in my room so im not sure why i didn't try that either.#i also wanted cereal orginally. but i waited so long that its already empty. and i didn't feel like opening the big box. so i just got-#chips.

#purrs#conference tag#we literally just got here and now we have to go 😭💔 i havent rly felt as enriched by this conference as i have in the past (though there’s#still 2 more sessions to go to incl the closing plenary and we’re getting lunch in the station before the train ride home) but ive walked#around so much and have spent time with people i love and some people i miss. and have been on adventures i have been looking forward to for#a rly long time though i am kinda bummed i never made it down to fanueil square. but… idk what happiness feels like anymore but maybe for me#it’s just absence of misery and despair. or contented ness. i have gotten a little triggered from time to time these last few days and ive b#been lonely in my hotel room but MAN it has been nice to not be miserable and suffering and to take walks and to not go to every session (ev#even though i do feel bad abt it like i missed 2 plenaries and an afternoon concurrent session which is more than i usually miss) and to#be in this city which feels so much like brighton and so uncity like in some ways. it’s so charming and omg i went to harvard and it was#NOTHING like what i imagined it to be / feel like.. just a quaint artsy quirky town. and the rest of the places ive been have been like that#too. and people LIVE here every day!!!!! there’s a big beautiful world here both above ground and below!!!! and im gonna be late to#breakfast but… i just feel nourished and healed in a way i wasn’t expecting to. I haven’t been this far away from home in 3+ years and#it’s just been really nice being somewhere else and going on adventures and seeing things surviving. i miss my grandparents a lot and im sad#to not be visiting them and to be unable to visit them now lol but it’s just rly nice and special being here. im goingto miss it so much and#im trying to savor every second. i wish we had one more day here and im a little sad to be going home lol#* what i meant when talking about happiness earlier is that i think… i have been happy these last few days. for the first time in a really#really long one. and that’s nice. it’s good to be happy again. and good to be here

Hi it is the day for my family's most stupid Christmas tradition 😀
#we meet to get breakfast at 8 am which is WAY TOO EARLY!!!!!!!#especially bc we have to drive kinda a while!!!!#and then we go to an OUTDOOR MALL. IN DECEMBER. and. ~walk around~#and its called ~family shopping day~#except no one buys anything#and we're supposed to ~look at the Christmas decorations~#but malls dont do big displays anymore#so we just. walk through department stores 😀#it started when my granddad was a kid and there was a big fancy mall that did big fancy Christmas decorations and had santa and everything#but they dont do that anymore 😭#we also usually end up going to bass pro. which is the highlight bc they have the fish tank#and then we go out to lunch. which makes me very very anxious#and sometimes we drive to a town thats like 30min away to look at one tiny store#and thats it 😀#this is hopefully the last year i have to do it 💀💀💀

Freshly adopted Jason, who is so used to taking care of his mother that the first morning in the manor, he wakes up in early hours to cook for Bruce, too.
Logically speaking, he understands that Bruce doesn't need it — he is a healthy adult, and they have Alfred — but it is six in the morning, and his mind is foggy, so he just follows his instincts. Maybe he does not even realise that mom is not here, after all.
Alfred finds him in the weakly dimmed kitchen when he finishes his walk around the Manor before starting with his chores. He is amused at first, stopping quietly behind the child. He is doing great (that's a surprise since Dick intentionally just stirred more trouble), and Alfred can't help but smile a little.
'Good morning, master Jason. If you are hungry, you should wake me up the next time. I promise to take care of you.'
Jason blinks owlishly, still awfully sleepy. His eyes are barely opened, his hands working on the automat.
'Breakfast,' he mumbles, frowning a little. 'For mom- I mean, for dad.'
Alfred's smile falters. His original impression shifts in a late realisation.
Oh.
'Master Jason, you shouldn't really-'
'Finished,' he yawns, putting a one — just one, nothing for himself at all — plate in front of Alfred.
It is a very simple dish, scrambled eggs with some black paper and toasted bread — but not even made in a toaster, just on the pan; this kid probably doesn't know how to use toasters. It smells nice, Alfred compliments mentally.
'Can you-' He yawns. 'Pass to-'
And then little Jason falls asleep helplessly, falling right in Alfred's arms. He catches him, of course. This boy weighs nothing at all.
'Hey, Al,' Bruce sticks his head in the kitchen, no less sleepy. 'What is going on?'
Alfred explains to Bruce what happened, and he is no less distraught. He helps him to put Jason in the bed and eats all the breakfast he prepared, with a mixture of delight and despair.
And when Jason wakes up, embarrassed by the faint memories of the early morning, Alfred puts a big plate in front of him, filled with so much food that his big blue eyes light up instantly.
'Bon appetite, master Jason,' he smiles. 'Your cooking had passed my personal standards for a cook. You are a good soldier.'
Jason giggles, his mouth already stuffed with bacon.
'That I am.'
And that he always will be.
