as much as i would love to give like. a comprehensive response i genuinely dont think i can get my words together just yet without it being a constant unintelligble stream of 'AND ANOTHER THING-' and bc it's become quite torn in the fandom on if the chapter was good or bad i want like. an actual coherent response here. so i will reblog this if/when i can word it but know IM NOT FUCKING HAPPY

#paragraphs and paragraphs about the villains' endings alone. hawks hpsc president. midoriya's ending #the fact hero society is barely changed and the changes that do happen feel very much TELLING the reader it happened #as opposed to actually showing us how society changed on it. this is smthn ik people will argue w me about #bc yes it was a 400+ chapter manga arguably showing us how society changed but like. did it actually show that #like do u honestly think any community would watch televised battles between TEENAGERS and bad guys #and have the majority of them go 'gah! i cant help but sympathise with the bad guy who just suckerpunched child extra no.28!'#so like. why are they all suddenly on board with massive systemic reinvention. where's the rage where's the bitterness #this wasn't a story on showing the villains as redeemable and working towards society sympathising with them #and slowly painfully coming to a conclusion where japan was ready to change as a COLLECTIVE #this was a story of showing a group of redeemable villains (first step CHECK) getting DEFEATED IN BATTLE #THEY ALL FUCKING DIED EXCEPT SPINNER AND PRESUMABLY COMPRESS #WE DONT EVEN FUCKING KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO DABI AT THE END ONLY THAT HE WAS PUT IN THE EXACT SAME POSITION #HE WAS IN WHEN HE WOKE UP FROM HIS COMA AND DABI WAS BORN. It's been more than 20 years and for some reason I feel that Gosho hasn't given Kaiao any development, how can more than 20 years pass and Aoko dynamics, relationship and feelings remain the same? At this point I feel like Gosho is just going to make them date because "they already liked each other" they remain in the same status quo

Hey, if we go by DC romance progress, they've been going too fast. We've already had suspicion of identity chapters, and that didn't happen until more than 400 chapters in DC. /j

Since heists have taken over any character development recently, I don't even know if Kaito and Aoko will even get any romantic progress. Maybe the actual identity confrontation will happen down the line, since that's thief drama, but atm, it really wouldn't surprise me if they only ask each other on a real date at the very end of the manga.

Like. I'm sure Gosho would love to make MK a love drama as well, but he writes MK so rarely, and usually as hype for something Kid related in other media. So the MK stories tend to be heavy on drama that can only take place at Kid heists. (To the point that the new chapters just. Use Kid as the plot device to show off a new character. Even Hakuba's never gotten so much 'look at this character being a detective' treatment in MK.)

-sighs- I just feel bad for MK as a series at this point. I like the characters, I like the general story idea, but. It's been going down a very steep hill with Gosho wanting things exciting, but not wanting any real progress in. Anything. But unlike old MK, the new stories aren't even nice standalone setpieces of story, they're... mundane. They could be high stakes, if you purely look at the scenarios on paper, but. We all know nothing's gonna happen to Kid. Nothing even happens to him when the actual bad guys show up, much less one-time antagonists.

We need actual character focus and development, not heist drama. Badly. Not even romance, though that'd be a nice change. Just any character expansion of our limited cast of characters. Gosho wants big, all the time, meaningless big stuff, when small would be so nice.

#And also he probably won't care to expand on KaiAo when he knows it's already canon #Like; not in the same way that ShinRan is canon endgame and he just needed to write it out #But in a 'I said these two were dating in another manga; they will exist even if I haven't written it'#And his story atm does feel like it could be left off with an ambiguous note on if they're together or not #And then just leave them dating in Yaiba for people who care about confirmation #MK is not in a stable enough state; I really don't know what he's planning with anything #And it's been so. -gestures to all the 'meaningless big stuff'- lately #I don't know if it'll ever get any shift in focus in the future #We barely get anything; all we have now is a new character people are divided about #And the tiniest continuity of Aoko thinking to herself that Kid is teasing her by reminding her of Kaito #Like; part of the problem is continuity as well; at least if Gosho wants to stick with DC-ish MK #MK has all the potential for callbacks or returning characters that could be interesting #But none of the potential that fans enjoy is ever /used/#We got all our KaiAo up front. We have suspicion arcs where it's barely mentioned that Kaito's proven his innocence in the past #They could go back to the amusement park and Aoko could mention the movie and Kaito can be sweating #Because he never saw the movie; that's then he peaced out to go heisting #There's so much. Gosho's good at adding potential to his story #But everything he comes up with to make canon ends up disappointing because he never fully uses any of it #He just adds more and more elements that go nowhere #MK is a mess that gets more and more fun to play around in; but the actual chapters are. Bad #Which might be for a reason similar to DC of we wait so long and get something extremely meh #Except instead of the months between DC cases; it's years for MK; and DC fans complain the entire time #So when MK fans are fed crumbs of... anything. It's just not as enjoyable as new content should be #(I got rambly in tags; sorry ;._. )

Hades falls far in love with a simple mortal,

who watches them die over and over again only to reincarnate the same cycle immediately after because Hades is too selfish to allow them to properly cross over to Helheim.

Not yet. This can't be accepted just yet, not so early. Hades is fully aware of the consequences of holding off their end cycle. Some turned insane. And others just completely and utterly destroyed themselves. The mortal body can only handle so much before falling apart.

Hades is the godly ruler of the land of death, a king of his duty, proud of his conquest. Of course, Hades bewares the toll.

But it won't matter in the long run. Hades orders is an absolution no one dares defy.

The growing weight on his heart's soul will only become more unbearable, heavier, and susceptible to interference. Awakening far earlier than natural reincarnation, no reincarnated human in Helheim history ever walked the mortal plane so many times in such short spams of life.

The world kills them faster and faster every time, further spiteful by the unfortunate second.

The Valkyires are pestering him, merciless in their ruthless onslaught of words that one of the Big 3 instead prefers to prolong the suffering of an unlucky mortal then allow them peace of mind in Asphodel. And Hades doesn't blame them for their anger, he deserves such scolding and expected their inevitable visit in hopes to understand what the hell Hades is pulling. Or in this case, ignoring to pull.

Death nutures at his hands, countless demons flee at the very glance of their god. The netherowlrd exists for a reason, and Hades knows the value and importance of the balance. The Valkyires are just doing their jobs, as heavy and demanding it is, and Hades of all people-outright refuses them guidance of your soul, the very task their were made for.

And Hades promises them, the very least he can do for now, even offers to write it in ichor-that once the time comes, you will know the long awaited threshold.

But not yet.

Not this time, Hades isn't ready, nothing is ready just yet.

Not this one, not yet.

pretty minor thing to think about, but i find it interesting how chapter 7 is the first chapter illustration to show chizuutan as chizuru (instead of chuutan)

like, i get it’s a flashback chapter, but we hardly got to see her as chizuru in the previous few chapters thus far… maybe we’ll get to see more of her as her true self after the hiyori fight/make up? only future chapters may tell, i guess…

We ought to write more Pokemon fic some time. We want to recreate the Pokemon Manners/Human Manners cheat sheet that we made a few years ago we think that this site would like the Sliding Scale Of Politeness When Greeting A New Pokemon You've Never Met Before.

#we speak #writing #we grew up with pmd games and we feel like the way that pmd pokemon's dialogue tends to be excessively... direct?#should be a feature and not a bug when any pokemon that you meet might be totally unfamiliar with your species and biology #it's probably very polite to start up front with some basic facts about yourself so they know how to act going forward #the very upfront feel to dialogue also very much helps with keeping the dialogue feel more... pokemon #people mock the series for weird npc dialogue a lot but we think that taking these things literally makes for more fun society building #it doesn't all have to fit with socially acceptable for our world we think. polite in our world isn't even consistent by household.#sometimes a polite interaction sounds like “hello! i'm poochyena! i like to chase people and bite!”#name and immediately socially useful information. now you know about the chasing people and biting so you don't assume it's rude #of course poochyena bites and chases people. it likes to do that. you can say you don't like that and it might stop doing that to You #but it will not stop biting and chasing people because that's what it likes to do and it will probably only befriend people okay with that #it makes a very specific dialogue feel that's very fun to do. we like how the pokemon world tends to treat any sort of like #disability or “weird” things as something that you just say out the gate and everyones like “oh okay”#and then treat that as Part Of Interactions going forwards. there are a surprising amount of parts of the pokemon manga #that are dedicated to working around a character's disability after one or all of their means of dealing with it get taken out #admittedly we aren't that caught up on newer content but we find the way that it tends to be just Accepted as very refreshing #making the dialogue this direct does also tend to make it read as more “childish” in english and particular because a lot of Maturity's jus #learning how to dance around what you're saying or phrase it in different ways to get your idea across differently #whereas here everything is just as direct as possible. “i don't like charmander”. “i like roasting berries”. “i want to dig things up”.#all pokemon dialogue tends to go towards being exceedingly simple and it makes for some very distinct writing #especially when you have to tackle complex situations with characters who probably dont employ that sort of vocabulary #though we personally enjoy doing this sort of stuff your mileage may vary ofc #we are biased towards this sort of thins because we find it MUCH more fun to build up what we're talking about from blocks #than to like. try and use more indirect wording that may lose things in translation #unfortunately this is not fun in irl conversation. everyone has to be on the same page and you need to use the same playbook to communicate #we REALLY wish people said what they meant though. we're really tired of being asked shit like “is this accessible”#when what they mean is “can you climb these stairs” a question which depends on the day our energy level and how things have been going #there are a lot of things we could say that would make us feel like some sort of anti sjw type guy and a lot of em boil down to just #"for the love of god dont dance around a Sensitive Topic just get to the point and ask us about it this just makes things harder for everyo

thinking again about how in trigun 98 they had nick kill someone with the face of a child posing as an orphan for vash, and how in tristamp they had him kill a child in the body of a monster who had no choice in what had been done to him, and how instead in trimax nick for vash kills a man who'd approached vash for a death match, who'd demanded to either kill or be killed, a man nick had given vash a fair chance to fight and win against and who nick would have left alone hadn't said man attacked vash when his back was turned after the duel was over and done with, a man who'd been one step from possibly seriously harming vash hadn't nick stepped in. and about how after in all three versions vash yells at nick for it, but only in trimax nick tells vash that he's lucky he's there to play the devil for him so that he can stay a saint, and only in trimax in the arc right after vash ends up thanking nick for killing for him and protecting his home when vash couldn't because of his own morals, and only in trimax in the end when nick isn't there to play the bad guy for vash he ends up being right, and vash ends up having to dirty his hands himself to protect what he loves - while both in 98 and for now tristamp vash stays a saint until the end, and that fight they have ends in itself, and the only lesson it leaves you as a viewer is that nick is jaded enough to kill a child

#this is in the same category in my brain as 98 and tristamp making vash the nice kid between he and knives #while in trimax knives was the nice hopeful naive kid and vash was the guarded and skeptical one #and also the same as vash in 98 never losing control of himself and in tristamp only losing control #when knives literally brainwashes him into becoming a husk of himself #while in trimax vash loses control of his own negative emotions all on and by himself and That's #what puts meryl and nick and milly in danger #not someone else's actions but /vash's/#and to me that's like #yeah maybe 98 came out before trimax was over so the authors didn't have a full grasp on vash as a character #and maybe it's true that the tristamp writers love the story their own way honestly and genuinely #but the way both anime make vash so objectively Good™️ and everyone else just too jaded #to see how he's right and being Good™️ is the only way to move forward #like...#I'm sorry #that's the opposite of what i thought nightow was saying when i first read trimax #the world isn't black and white and some choices are unavoidable but that doesn't make them any less bad #and people aren't perfect but that doesn't make them any less able to be good #and all that #yk #?#the way the anime always make meryl so unwaveringly strong and corageous too when in trimax #she's actually so scared #reasonably!!#same with nick too all his fear of knives and conflicting feelings about vash all gone always...#then again when you make vash to perfect what's there to be scared or conflicted about?#it's something I always come back to ESPECIALLY the nick killing for vash moment #the manga makes it so hard to decide who's right #and in the end it takes you by the shoulders and shakes you and tells you nick!!! nick was right!!!!#while in the anime nicks kills /a child/ so of course you're brought to assume vash was right #i dunno it's just so flat to me

You know what. You can argue all you want that Katsuki hates Izuku, but don't expect people to listen if you only use a single panel out of the nearly 400 manga chapters to back up your claim.

#I'm sick of seeing this #And honestly? I don't agree with this take AT ALL #Katsuki never hated Izuku. He hated the way Izuku's heroic spirit made him feel inferior to him #especially because Katsuki believed that Izuku should be behind him because he was quirkless. not the other way around #it fucked w his self-esteem and instead of accepting these feelings and moving on he bullied Izuku to feel superior to him again and #also to keep him at arms length so he couldn't be reminded of his own weaknesses when he looked at Izuku #and he's also not the same person he was back in middle school #I'm pretty sure there are more manga panels showing Katsuki actively caring about Izuku's well-being than there are of him bullying him atp #sorry for this mini rant I have a lot of feelings

finally found a place to read With the Light online and i'm thrilled; if you haven't read this manga i do Legitimately recommend it

#N posts stuff #like don't get it wrong it Is Not a series about being autistic it Is a series about raising an autistic kid #but also don't be put off by that because it's legitimately a series that I feel Loves autistic people with its whole being #it's kind of a teaching manga so it showcases a lot of different opinions/characters/conflicts/etc. but the Framing is very consistent #in that the manga is Extremely of the opinion that autistic people are People who deserve to be Valued and Accepted As They Are #the onus for change is never put on autistic individuals the framing is basically Universal in the 'the World needs to change #to be more accepting' -- it's a very Social Model depiction of autism that ALSO never veers too far into the #'autism isn't even Really a disability' fallacy; it's very much a 'A lot of autistic people will need constant support in a variety of ways #throughout their lives but that isn't the roadblock preventing them from having their own lives; ableism in society is the roadblock'#the first two chapters are the hardest to get through bc they take place before Sachiko has any real understanding of autism and #so she's isolated and stressed out and the ignorance makes it difficult for her to care for Hikaru properly (there's also a lot of #other characters Blaming her for what's going on which goes unchallenged at this point though that changes later); but after she #understands what autism is she's Firmly in Hikaru's corner for the rest of the series - you can skip right to ch 3 without a problem #if you're not interested in reading about that initial conflict #there's still a Lot of conflict ofc but by then the chapters have some of my favorite moments so i don't want to advocate skipping #them; like Hikaru's daycare teacher explaining how Hikaru's difficulty speaking is the same as other kids' troubles with #things like jump-roping/etc.; and then a mother who has An Issue with Hikaru's presence in her daughter's class realizing the #depth of the problematic opinion bc Her mother (who had a stroke) faces similar ableism from her peers #i'm cutting this post off b4 the tags get Too long but if you're curious but still hesitant man. send me an ask and i will Happily #write an insanely long essay about how much i love this series; i have all the books i'm not excited about the online availability #for Me i'm excited bc i've been wanting to rec this manga for like almost a full decade and i can finally give you a link instead of #saying 'well. you can find used copies sometimes' lol

#ive rewatched gonzo yesterday #gonzo hellsing #hellsing #seras victoria #i love the amount of attention paid to Seras #also all of her iconic looks!#ovas are nothing style-wise compared to the gonzo tbh #so i dont understand people hating on it; like it is even good that is doesnt follow the manga frame by frame #sure some moments were really stupid but the first half is so much cooler #idk despite all the silly stuff it feels more mature than the ovas #also i have a feeling that the rest of millenium as they are would seem kinda tasteless in gonzoverse #funny that at the same time millenium is like the only thing that interests me in the ovas ughhh #i wish i could make deep art analysis and stuff but my brain won't work that way #upd as ive re-read it a minute after posting:#maybe ovas are not 'nothing' but they surely arent as stylish #especially if we're talking about soundtrack; ive seen people saying ova has a good one but..#well i do too like Carl Maria von Weber but they didn't even include the best part of the opera (Jägerchor) duh

#and my finny and bard i wonder how they're going to look in this new animation style #i don't usually care about animation styles per se like it's not something i bitch about but i don't love the animation this season per se:(#sometimes it's really really pretty but also sometimes i am like that's not how ciel and especially sebastian look :(#sebastian looks really pretty but sometimes he doesn't feel like sebastian? i like when sebastian was all pointy #i think sebastian should look like this is junjou romantica.#but aside from that i think the tone is a smidgen off from the manga? like the way certain things are animated are not as goofy as the manga #when usually i don't feel a weird imbalance there sometimes it lands now and sometimes it doesn't #oh back to the original point i wish we had done an obligatory house episode ik the arc is just like this in the manga but uh so was circus #we're in the same situation where it's been so many years since the anime has been on air AND we are in a situation where we got 11 eps...#...out of this arc i think it would have made perfect sense to have a house episode with everyone #bc at its heart black butler is about the house ciel has made and the bit they all have going there #everything bad happens now bc he goes out of the house!! the house is the safe space control group type of environment #that's part of why the murder arc is so fun bc everyone there is in complete control of it and ciel's a stay at home not talk guy #everything outside of the house is fake! that's why it's the bit that they're pretending to be fake inside!#that's necessary to orient you to this story and ciel but whatever anyway 😔#small gripes that pick at me occasionally i just haven't had the time or mental space to voice them here #kuroshitsuji #my kuro posts
