i keep putting this off, but it today arrives! a ramble about ryan selucreh to fill tghe tag for once

(spoilers for mythborne ahead BUT ITS BEEN OUT FOR A WHILE FOR FREE NO PATREON REQUIRED PLEASDE CHECK IT OUT I NEED MORE MYTHBORNE FRIENDS IN MY JRWI MUTUAL CIRCLE)

so who even is ryan selucreh? well, hes a football jock and a big oaf, the stereotypical strong dumb athlete kid. however, theres more to ryan that we're diving into, years after the oneshot ended!

one thing to note on ryan is how his powers were gotten in a mix of ways aster and connor did. aster was born with them (assumed cause goddess mother), connor got them from a book (recieved from searching, wasnt born with it), ryan got his powers from squats. silly, sure, but like i said, its like the inbetween of the two. he has the power himself and doesnt need a book for them or anything, but he wasnt born with them either. i also wanna note how asters powers are like life (plants and the sun, both can symbolize life) and connors powers are like death (decay and disintegrating, both are related back to death), but ryans powers cant be "like" anything. its not something super showy, hes just super strong (strong enough to rip a mountainin half im pretty sure was confirmed).

lwts get into those comments ryan made, and how its reflected across the 3 episodes. yeah, the comments on faking his personality around people and how he doesnt know who he is anymore.

first showing of this is with the j crew. charlie gave a good idea (he was nicknamed jyan), but condi says he told them that. granted, it was probably to be funny, but theres other options to that. ryan missaid his name out of nervousness, the j crew misheard him, he wrote his name really wrong, so many different options that also are pretty comedic. yet, ryan told them he was jyan to join their team.

on the floatball jersey he wears, they didnt even have a 10 for him, simply a jersey with a 1 and a "poorly painted 0". did someone else use the 10? why didnt they have one? another way ryan changed for people symbolically, wearing one number but being another.

ryan joins in with the omnious curse speech despite it not being planned. an attempt to keep fitting in with his group there.

hell, ryan even was an ass to connor before when he was with the j crew, yet wasnt when he was with connor and aster alone.

he even goes out of his way to try and save asters dad, an act of carrying for her and her father. hes such a friendly and caring dude that hes trying to fit in with them all to keep up their friendships.

thats what makes the whole "i dont have a real personality" line mean so much. because he really doesnt. all that can be seen as his personality is simply to appeal to another person.

HELL IM FUCKING CONNECTING IN THE FACT THAR RYAN WAS A HISTORY MAJOR TO THIS! WHO EXPECTS THE JOCK TO LIKE HISTORY? NOT ME, I THOUGHT THAT WAS CONNOR, AND THATS WHY ITS SO INTERESTING, CAUSS NOTHING LEADS YOU TO BELIEVE RYANS INTERESTED IN THAT SHIT!!! ryan barely talks about his past or anything, minus the memory (but that was only to save professor aeliana), BUT HE DIDNT FUCKING BRING IT UP. kinda ironic, the character whos past is pretty unknown is in classes learning about our past.

oh yeah did i ever mention his parents are dead? cause they are (confirmed by condi a while back)

maybe thats why he tries to be so appealing to everyone, to make up for that missing link. i mean, its not like that event wouldnt have some impact on you (also no jrwi pc has gone to therapy from what i know so safe to assume he has no coping skills PLUS ITS A CONDI PC YPU THINK HES MENTALLY STABLE??).

another thing i learned: ryans last name is a backwards hercules. fun call back to the name, yeah, but the actual story may have some weight here...

the screenshot doesnt give the full story, of course, so i will. the picture leaves out how the reason he went through hardships was because he was driven to madness. according to research, hera was mad at hercules being born (for he was the product of zeus and a mortal woman), so she made him go crazy and slaughter his family. to make up for it, he was given 12 impossible tasks to do.

am i saying the full story applys? hell fucking no! i dont think ryan killed his parents or anything, but i think the jist can apply. a man trying to be forgiven by people for wrongdoings that wouldnt have happened if said people didnt make those wrongdoings happen. ryan trying to get the validation of his friends and acquaintances by pretending to be someone hes not, which wouldnt be needed if he could see friends accept people as themselves. given impossible missions (be someone else) to appease those who he looks to (whether its to the side or up to).

another thing to note is theres no episode cover with only ryan on it. cover 1 has all 3, cover 2 has background faceless frat members and connor, and cover 3 has only aster.

it could be from how there was only 3 episodes of mythborne, yet this could be solved by having all 3 in a cover at once. while it would have been a lot, they had all 3 in the first and a total of 4 characyers in thr second cover. this of course was a purposeful choice, and it shows in a way who the focus is meant to be on in that ep (all of them, connor, aster).

so why coupdnt ryan have been focused on in episode 1? yeah he was directly related to the chaos (j crew being first vicitms and shit), yet that clearly had a more general showing. its because ryan isnt a character who can be focused on. he crutches to his friends like a team relys to eachother, thats how he has purpose, thats how hes even a person.

i woulsnt even doubt the stupid bit being an act! to play in a sport, you actually do need good grades (in my school experience, above a C+ in all classes), and ryans been on this team since he started college (infered from dialoge with j crew member), probably since kindergarten even (has known j cre since kindergarten). he learnt it from them, and found it to be a possibly appealing trait of himself to others, everyone likes the lovable idiot! sure, what he does to play an act can be extreme, but if this is really thr coping mechanism i think it is, its not too much for him (also wanna note how of all characters ryan is the biggest stereotype caharacyer).

the 3rd episode btw seemed a lot from the cover and namr and all like the whole world was a fake (for me atleast), and isnt it fitting that ryan was the first to fall off the stage? the man, who had an identity crisis outloud for once after it seemed like one friendgroupd was about to learn his secrets, the first to exit stage down (stage direction jokes). hes been playong a play himself for what feels like his whole life by now, he doesnt need a script.

i came in here to talk about ryan, put him under a microscope, see who he is. really, ryans a shell of a person, a muscle soulless being pretending to be a person someone can love and care about. maybe he too thinks about how connor had changed inside to save him. whatever it is, i think ive not learnt from this who ryan selucreh is, and maybe if he gets aomething like this, he can learn himself who ryan selucreh is.

**i think there's enough to kinda plan a S5 right now but at the same time we (and Bones?) don't know when and how exactly the DoA arc will end. it does look like it's reaching climax (maybe a two-front final battle aka airport+prison?) and iirc Asagiri said he's done with the draft to wrap this arc up, but if it can end fast enough Bones might just want to wait and cram its conclusion into S5 because tbh letting one arc, nevermind one that takes place in ~10 days canon time, drags for 3 seasons isn't really great for viewer retention

**(+) speaking of viewer retention, i think wan! is cute and all, but if they're waiting out the manga they could do so much more with actual content that enriches the worldbuilding aka, 55 minutes & stormbringer. tbh i could see 55 minutes as a single movie, but stormbringer is wayyy too long to shove into 100 minutes of film with any coherency and doesn't lend well to being split in a two-parter either, so why not do both in single season? we can get atsushi (the, y'know, main character), akutagawa, dazai & ada adventure AND chuuya, dazai & port mafia adventure, which will definitely sell well while not having to sacrifice the narrative trying to shove either into a "main" season, so win-win-win?? ***i know 55 minutes and stormbringer are like two separate timelines/stories, but they both touch a lot on European skill/singularity weapons and singularities in general, so it might not be that hard trying to link them together. they could start with 55 minutes, then at the end when they're reflecting on the events have atsushi ask dazai about gab/verne and dazai would be 'sike, arent i too familiar with that shit', or have ango (give the man some sleep) type up a report and retelling both events together or sth. not to mention we already have mentions of singularity weapon in the main manga so it'd be a nice idea to introduce all the foundations before S5. plus, verlaine mentioned h.g. wells by name in stormbringer so that'd be a nice tie-in

dunno what other light novels Asagiri plans on writing, but if Bones hopes to cram the DoA conclusion here maybe it's better to not have any LN content at all and picks straight up from S4

misc thoughts: i dont think DoA will be the last arc of BSD, there's still a lot not touched on about the European side of things (Clock Tower hello?) and world war might or might not pick back up so im sure asagiri still has some wild ideas to write. fukuchi dies for sure which will probably signal the end of DoA arc, but just because dude's a trainwreck doesn't mean he didn't have some good points about govt-sanctioned horrors, so that might lead us into the next arc. fyodor's dying is 50/50? somehow hes both been here too long and i still feel we havent done enough with his character yet. anw im more than ready for DoA arc to end, please asagiri have mercy 🥺

thanks anon! i suppose all my exclamation points were a bit of a give away. i should clarify perhaps that what i am passionate is less that specific topic than the general notion of statistics.

(this got real long and a bit meandering, but i will not apologize, because i think its fascinating)

we as humans are...really bad at statistics. honestly, thats being kind. we are terrible at understanding statistics. you see a weather forecast which says 20% chance of rain, and while you know, logically, that means there is some chance of rain, your brain basically reinterprets this to: It Will Not Rain. 20% is the same as zero percent. if it rains, then the probability was actually 100%, and the forecast was wrong. but actually, it was 20%, and some random winds blew just right and your campfire got drizzled on.

statistical literacy is wildly important for understanding large societal trends and also wildly undertaught. (i am particularly salty that a few years after i graduated my province removed statistics from the high school math curriculum. i love math, i really do, but while i think theres value in people knowing about calculus and the ways we can use it, most people wont have to actually use it themselves. everyone can benefit from understanding how to read statistics better. in our current society, its almost a critical survival skill)

(i also want to add a caveat which is that while i love statistics, statistics are also incredibly easy to lie with. no, seriously. this is part of the statistical literacy i am talking about. if you like reading academic articles, i recommend this one, which discusses how if you analyze the data differently, you can often get large variations in results. if the pdf is not free for download, the unpaywall extension will grab it for you)

(relatedly, this is why i am of the opinion that you should be careful of any statistic that is presented in only one way. This Medication Doubles Your Risk of Blood Clot! (the risk went from 1 in ten million to 2 in ten million))

so, statistics are important. statistics reveal a lot about society. but we dont experience life as statistics, we experience life as a series of events (or anecdotes). large numbers are not something that we actually evolved to understand very well. we process the world through stories and examples, and we have to learn to think carefully about numbers.

(even watch: i am about to use an anecdote to centre this discussion. i use it to place my point somewhere, because thinking about it in abstract is difficult to do without practice. but it is also falling prey to exactly the fallacy that i am talking about)

i was discussing last summer an incident in which a Black athlete tested positive for marijuana and was given a temporary suspension. she claimed this was a racist ban, and a bunch of discourse ensued. (please note: i am not interested in discussing the validity of her specific claim, which is why im not linking to a specific incident. this could apply to any number of similar examples, and others have likely done more in depth analyses of the particular event. i am using it as a rhetorical device to discuss bias and how it manifests, and am not interested in debating about this one incident. pretend it is a fictional example, if you wish.)

with all those caveats out of the way, here is why this is a difficult claim to make: in isolation, there is very little substance to it. there was a rule, which a person broke, and they received the standard consequence for it. its hard to argue bias when the narrative is so linear. especially if we assume the situation has no deeper narrative (as we know, often stories like this contain more blatant bigotry, while only the softest version makes the headline.) there is little to support the idea that this was a racist decision. moderates might see this and, without more context, think that its a lot of fuss kicked up about nothing. because on its own, it is.

what makes this a racist incident isnt (necessarily) that it was a specific Black athlete that was hit with the suspension. its that there is a trend wherein Black athletes are more likely to be tested, and more likely to be punished rather than dealt a warning.

which returns me to my point, which is the statistics. literally nobody involved in this specific suspension had to be individually racist, or have racist motivations. hell, this individual suspension could be totally ideologically squeaky clean of racism. but on average, in the system, certain people are being hit harder than others, and that indicates racism in the system. but its hard to tease out that racism because every individual instance of it seems kinda wishy-washy. the trend is only obvious in aggregate, and we are, as ive said, very bad at understanding the abstract statistic, especially when we can look at an individual event and label it (we think) clearly.

we focus on the individual rather than the aggregate, which is a natural, and very human response. rather than address the racism in the system, the discussion becomes primarily about whether the people enforcing the ban are racist individuals.

(i emphasize primarily because this is still a good question to ask; you want to make sure there arent any explicit racists in the system! but it should not be the only question you ask, because there are systemic factors that could produce this bias without a single outright racist person involved)

a lot of systemic bias works under this kind of...plausible deniability schema. this athlete broke a known rule and faced consequences. how is that racism? that femme gay man keeps getting rejected from jobs, but there are lots of other qualified candidates, and its not like resumes can really be objectively classified as 'better' or 'worse.' some people will rank resumes differently. maybe the other candidates were just more qualified!

but when there is an average of femme gay men having trouble breaking into a profession, or of trans women struggling to find housing, or or or or...then it reveals something about the structure of the society that is happening in. the individual incident may or or may not be a manifestation of bias, but the totality is. it is even possible the hiring manager who has rejected all these applications is, themself, unaware that they are subconsciously judging these men as being less qualified based on their voice and bearing.

ie. it is possible to perpetuate bias without any conscious malice. and it is very frustrating to our brains, which like stories, when we cant find a clear villain and hero. when its just an evil hiring manager, the situation is comprehensible. when its a bunch of neutral parties that all have the same cultural framework influencing their decisions subtly in a negative direction, its harder to process. and also a lot harder to fix. being able to point to an Evil Hiring Manager is nice because we can boot that person, and the problem is fixed. it feels good to be able to fix a problem, and systemic factors are way harder to actually address.

which is also why its sometimes very hard to criticize things like media trends (yeah, we're looping back to that original post now, im getting there) because we are so much better at processing individual stories than statistics. the problem is often not a specific narrative--ie. a gay character dying in a story--but an overarching trend--ie. all gay characters in stories die. pick one single story out of this trend, and you learn nothing. it may be that in isolation, this story is moving and beautiful, that the death was narratively necessary, that it spoke to a lot of people. individually, the story could be a net good. and so when the trend is criticized, those who enjoyed the individual story, rather than have a more nuanced discussion about what the trend reveals about how our society treats queer people, and how we subconsciously think about queer narratives, people jump to defend the one story in isolation. the point of criticizing a trend is not (or should not be, or generally should not be) to say: This Story Can Never Be Told. it should be to ask: why is this the only story being told?

the question when looking at a trend, or a statistic, should be: what does this imply about what is going on under the surface. and well meaning people who are anti-bigotry can fall prey to whats under the surface. hell, people who are members of the groups in question can fall prey to whats under the surface. i'll give a fandom example (since i do fandom shit on this blog).

now most people who are in fandom would probably agree that trying to label one member of a queer couple the 'man' and one member the 'woman' is stupid. theyre both the same gender! thats the point!

but when you think of your favourite blorbos...you know, right? even if you vehemently disagree, even if you think that way of looking at relationships is stupid...you know. you know which one is on average treated within the fandom as taking each role. even by people who are vocal allies, or who are queer themselves. maybe your instinct is to push this knowledge away from you, to claim you only know it because other people are biased, but you do know it. you are aware of the general trend. we cant help it. we are part of this society, so we know about it, even if we dislike it. and even if we dislike it, we can still accidentally absorb it.

heres a metric i find interesting: when constructing an au of a queer couple based on a het story, which member of the queer couple gets the womans role, and which gets the mans?

even the most progressive het stories still, on some level, have absorbed the cultural context we live in. most stories, not being the Most progressive, will be saturated with many, many small gender stereotypes. it will influence what careers the characters have, what type of choices they make in the narrative, how they interact with the other characters, etc. its not always blatant, but its often an undercurrent (and sometimes it really is blatant).

one would expect, then, that with a queer couple, sometimes it will make sense to mold the het story one way, sometimes the other. but if i look at my own fics that are based on het couples...both of them i have the same character taking the mans role and the other the womans. and i know that falls in line with who fandom as an average treats as the 'woman' in the relationship and the 'man'.

now, two fics does not a significant dataset make, but i also have no evidence that had i not started to think about this trend, i would not have continued to accidentally follow it. and i would wager if you did a survey of all fics in a fandom, you would not find a vaguely 50/50 split, with half the time one character getting one role and half the other, but some kind of skew in the expected direction.

what does this mean? i would hope, in reading either of the fics ive just referenced, few people would walk out saying 'that was homophobic.' the stories themselves are almost irrelevant to the discussion. but it does serve as a probe. somewhere, in the bottom of my mind, whether i want it there or not, gender and sexuality stereotypes are still fermenting quietly. growing like long-lived weeds in places they were planted when i was so small i dont even remember it. tiny seeds planted daily by subtle interactions with the world. being aware of this makes me a little more able to prune back some of these weeds. to interrogate my own beliefs and counter them. and it came not out of a specific homophobic statement or act that i made, but a statistical trend that would be too subtle to notice in isolation. if i look at each story on its own, i can offer very good explanations for why i made the choices i did. but somehow i still managed to blindly find my way into a stereotypical cave.

i use myself as an example because i dont want to point fingers and say: These People are being bad. its not a valuable way to approach narrative analysis. if you are looking at broad media trends, the goal is to understand what societal beliefs and motivations might lead to that trend, even if that wasnt the specific motivation of an individual creator who happens to fall under the trend. every single creator may, individually, have a very good reason for the choices they made. but the fact that we all made the same choice tells us something. and maybe what it tells us is its time to explore some alternative choices.

no individual story needs to be at fault. but it is very hard to separate the statistics from the individual, because our brains are literally programmed to focus on the personal. a story does not have to be bad to be part of a trend. pieces of a trend can be good even if the trend itself is bad.

which is a very long winded way of saying that bias is statistical, and people are bad at statistics. when apes started to walk around and start talking, there was no evolutionary pressure into understanding exactly what a percentage means. it takes conscious effort to not take statistics personally. your favourite story doesnt need to be monstrous to spend time thinking about why a popular trope it happens to contain might be rooted in something you dont believe in.

i will leave you with one final bit of wisdom when it comes to statistics: be skeptical of any statement containing absolutes.

You should turn your post on the Uncanny Valley into a book or something. I am not even kidding, it's brilliant and sorely needed information. Thank you for it.

Tbh its just speculative that the uncanny valley is an inherent biological trait and not cultural or a learned behavior at the moment. A good example would be the cultural phenomenon of colorophobia where in the US we have a longer history of using clowns in our horror pop culture genres than countries like Japan.

Clown entertainment has been around since the Egytian times and maybe some people have always been freaked out by them it honestly just takes one director or author to have an disproportionately irrational fear and good cinematography skills to convince people that they SHOULD hate clowns just as much, (I could say the same about the movie Jaws but thats a bit of a tangent,) or a memorable event that damages the public's trust in something that SHOULD be innocent or harmless. (A good examples being the John Wayne Gacy trials.)

Clowns are also thought to be in the uncanney valley so ita a fairly good argument on cultural phenomenon versus genetic traits. Up until aroud the 60s-70s clowns were actually fairly well liked by the US general public and a lot of older generation still find a fondness in it that would scare the living shit out of their grandchildren.

As far as evidence that I may be right about the "uncanney valley might be because of rabies" theory, there has been a small case study suggesting that the movements of a non-human robot that trigger the effect in us, is also present in people with parkinsons but the sample size is too small for me to be thoroughly convinced.

And don't be mistaken I also dislike this concept because saying that ableism is an inherent human trait is just as bad as saying racism is an inherent human trait. There is little to gain from distrust in the disabled and little historical evidence to suggest it was common or beneficial to discard disabled people. Disabled people's remains have been found time and time again to live to incredibly long livea and be cared for, and participate in their communities. I'm highly critical of this particular case study and I take it with a grain of salt because its on cosmo, but evidence of human disabilities and compassion can be sourced by actual bones and it's been placed on VERY credible sources. NPR, NBC, Discovery, Nat Geo, NY Times, literally the clostest you can get to creme of the crop news articles on DOZENS of accounts and if you have a goddam problem then pay for a tour to the Smithsonian, find an archeologist and coherse them into showing you the bones and then explain phorensics to you because you probably wouldn't understand unless you too were a phorensic archeologist yourself.

What I DO BELIEVE tho is that if the uncanny valley is a legitimate inherent trait, that like most evolutionary traits, it made it this far for this long because it somehow served us benificially. And the biggest benifit I can think of is identifying neuro-infectious diseases because they can spread agressivley, many of them lead to death or lasting effects and are fucking MISERABLE to catch. We're talking brain swelling, fevers, uncontrollable vomiting, tremors, hallucinations, motor and vocal tics, difficulty swallowing, seizures. This could all happen because they eat infected deer meat or because of one bad fox bite. It's miserable if you survive and horrifying if you dont. Rabies can survive in your muscle tissue for years before infecting your brain and once it does usually you only live for about 5-10 days in and out of concious knowledge that you're going to die painfully, and disease aggrivated psychosis. It would be hard to pinpoint the causation because the amout of time before full blown infection would vary too much to assosiate for a long time. So your only option is to hone in on telltale signs.

The disabled people who would suffer from herdeditary or developmental neurological disorders run the risk of prejudice from mistaken identity, but if a human is part of a community, and doesn't die within a week from having a wobbly head, it would sooner or later become apparent that they're not dangerous. I think nowadays culturally people don't press to learn more about disabled people due to social and political prejudice and never fucking grow up past that. Mistaken identity or not. You learn about people from the patterns of their behaviors so even ones that seem abnormal to you become a normal recognizable pattern for them. Fancy that.

We don't get grossed out by chimps or gorillas, who are even more distant cousins, and the proof that we don't have a search and destroy button for anything immediatly related to us is a bunch of bullshit can be found in almost every human's blood on earth. And not just neanderthals, but denisovans as well. And that's not even accounting for genetic backtracking the crossbreeding of other sapiens species before we were whittled down to just the three. What makes the tweet even stupider is that when neandertals still roamed the earth humans were shorter, hardier, and overall more rough looking so we looked even indistinguished then. We Also Chewed On Bones and neandertals handled cold climates better than us based on a study on chest cavity density and, skull nasal intake and heat circulation, providing genetic diversity and the upper hand in survival in the tundras or mountainous regions spanning over Eurasia. If it wasn't for humans fucking neandertals we might not have been able to spread over the contient or diversify the way we did.

So my full hypothesis is that if the uncanny valley is a genetic inherent human trait it was used to benifit people from catching agressive diseases in a time where the benifit of fearing a group member with rabies outweighed the cost of fearing a group member with a disability like parkinsons.

WHAT PISSED ME OFF was the idea that we are DESIGNED to be unwary of our evolutionary cousins could easily be used for white supremacist spaces to justify racism BECAUSE IT ALREADY HAS

So that one tweet that might seem like a quirky thinkpiece in my eyes is just fuel for eugenics trend round whatever number we're on. It's like we don't fucking learn. It would be REALLY easy to retool the concept that it's natural for people to be fearful of whatever the bullshit definition of sub-humans are. Claiming that black people were sub-human thus deserving of mistrust and submission to white ownership worked like a fucking charm.

Maybe if I go to college and major in psyche/socio/civics it'll be my college thesis. Right now I'm more of a hobbyist than anything, but what I DO know is that anyone can make an untested hypothesis to combat another untested hypothesis and it should hold just as much goddamn value. I combatted the idea that the idea that human othering was funneled into an unconfirmed effect that causes disgust and terror based on non-human sapiens is in fact racist and gave what is in my opinion a more evoluntionary practical approach to the uncanney valley.

The generalized links that I used APARENTLY weren't good enough for some people but aparently a single tweet that says "hur dur heedle dee uncanney valley exists because of human cousins" was taken at face value even tho it was probably tapped out in five seconds without regards to the reproccussions. I find a huge discomfort that less than studious links about the evolution of monkey social behaviors that I used as a guideline to explaining my concerns became the focal point for people to nitpick without even having the gall to "well actually" on the subject. That absolute ravaging NEED to rip apart at it and devolve into name calling because I MENTIONED racism is fucking suspicious and I don't trust it. I had to stop looking at the responses because some people were only reblogging and arguing with barely half of my argument and i was getting nowhere fast.

There were a few people that made actual points with cited sources that made their own rebuttle arguments. That I respect. It's just as valid an argument as mine and I'm ALWAYS willing to take on more credible sources to strengthen my stance or gain perspective.

But it's the utter dismissal of a concerning concept that just seeped into the subtext that gnawed at my gut. Some people on top of hating the linked sources I provided, admitted they didn't read it, refused to read between the lines to purposfully misinterpret or derail my main points, and detract that my claim that the tweet was a result of systemic white supremacy saturated into modern science was a bunch of bullshit because I claimed that 1500s anglos invented racism.

The thing is we did invent the racism that we fucking currently subscribe to.

We practice the science that we formulated based on our own social prejudice. Real people die from this.

We remain uncritical of our own theorums that we postulate then pat ourselves on the back like we're philosophical geniuses even though racism is a family heirloom with a new paint job.

We preach the eugenics ideals that we pulled out of our asses to benifit from fearmongering, promises of national security and unpaied labor.

White supremacists create subtext with the intention of it being consumed by accident or in ways that seem palatable.

Fuck.

I don't hate the person who wrote the tweet. Chances are that they gave the tweet as much thought as they took the time to write it and went on their day as a fun little thinkpiece. Everyone on the internet does it. But its that kind of thinking error that needs to be adressed as a progression of historic and scientific prejudice that gets rehashed, recycled and untouched and continually damages and is weaponized against marginalized people. I am not wrong for taking it seriously especially when a bunch of people were sitting around nodding their heads just as effortlessly.

I don't owe the internet any more sources than the tweet. I don't owe anyone on the internet a full scientific ananysis. And the people's reaction to what I had to say was actually what further convinced me I might have hit the nail on the head.

so that post i made last night? ok yeah im gunna elaberate on that. In my eyes Puck Summerdream has autistic traits. source: me, who also has autism. HERE WE GO.

- so, looking at his personality and aspiration, we see thats he’s a popularity sim, but hes pretty shy and serious but also really nice. I see this as while he has a fair few friends (like, all the main teens in Veronaville) he might struggle to like talk to people. or at least meaningful coversations. I relate to this as while i definatly enjoy company with friends, i find it super hard to talk sometimes and even keep in touch as socialising aludes me alot. I think Puck is the same and it can come across as him being shy. 

-Linking to that, he most likely stands in the corner zoning out with an empty cup in his hand during one of his own parties. dont worry hes ok! just vibing.I relate to this too. (Could be a pun on “being away with the fairies” as I daydream/zone out ALOT.)

-In his Bio it reads that while hes blessed with a loving family he still gets lonely. This is another thing i can relate to, while i have friends and family who care about me and i enjoy having them around (Puck having parties) i cant help but feel lonley or isolated, due to my poor social skills. His could be the same for Puck and him coming across as shy. He knows he has company and people to hang out with and their in return value him as a friend, he cant help but feel like hes on the outside of things, even at his own events.

-Puck being serious? Its funny as hes named after a mischievious fairy in the Play of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. So i take it as, he doesnt get humour like neurotypical people do (a common trait autisic people have) so jokes and sarcasm probably goes right over his head. (Sorry Mercutio) and probably comes off as serious.  (This is more of a headcanon but i can see Puck having a really.. odd sense of humour in contrast. Like he wont get normal jokes but something really obscure and niche could be the funniest thing to HIM and people wouldnt get that)

-His main interests according to the wiki are Paranormal, Travel, Sci-Fi and Toys. Special interests BABEY.

- We know he doesnt get along with his sister Bottom sometimes, often thinking of her as bratty and constantly getting Titanias and Oberon’s attention. I think hes still struggling to adjust to the massive change of now having a younger sister as we can guess that it was probably just him and his parents for a long while, and change is a big thing us autistic people really struggle to grasp. He doesnt dislike Bottom at all but, shits hard when it was just you being an only child for ages.

SO yeah, thats my TED Talk. Puck might be popular but hes still awkward as hell and i see him as autistic. This is mostly a massive headcanon but thought id share anyways and if u wanna discuss more headcanons, hmu. yeah.

I love Duel Links. Its an app where you can play the duel monsters game in the yugioh worlds with their characters. Ofc I love playing as Yus.ei but also love the 5ds stuff you get and anything with him on it.

Structure decks, his ace monster card, his skills, Stardust and him releated icons, sleeves and mats…

Dont get me started on his lines. You can hear a couple of lines during a duel when you click on them. Its so funny they used the “Thing is I dont dance…” like boo…dance with me I cant do it either. Also the line “Are you scared to duel?”…that face he makes oof baby…

The 5ds events are so nice, my ultimate favorite event was the Crash Town one. The fact you could unlock my bff but also got my favorite boys mat oof👌👌 and dont forget the chibi version!

I have unlocked Yus on May 20th 2019 and Jack & Crow on March 25th 2020…it was kinda hard for me to get them okay, you have to do this tasks before you can unlock them. Kalin aka Kyosuke was easier and more fun to unlock on July 30th 2020.

for the 99.9% of people who didnt follow me for dl, its a mobile gacha game. you play as euden, a scion to the alberian throne, who possesses dragonblood, a special power inherited that allows him to make pacts with dragons and shapeshift into them. for a free gacha game its really, really good?? good rates, lots of free stuff, SO MUCH INGAME CONTENT, FLAWLESS soundtrack, ten bajillion characters, and dragons as the title implies and that automatically makes the game a thousand times better.

when i say good rates i mean GOOD like. every gala dragalia banner i swear i get like 2-3 five stars every second tenfold. and the safety net of you being able to pick a certain five star after 300 rolls... aauaghh this is why i love dragalia way more than idk ge/nshin which is so awfully frustrating by comparison or pok/emon masters which i quit after like two months. i have almost every character i want and got them pretty easily! (despite these good rates i still dont have summer norwin COME HOME YOU--)

there's so much lore and stories to look at when you're not playing! all the events are so so good, my favorites are forgetten truths, accursed archives and caged desire! (caged desire was the per/sona 5 crossover event which i am. still reeling from. out of all the crossovers to happen with this little obscure gacha game it was P5?? AND SO WELL WRITTEN?? AND NOW I CAN PLAY AS THE JOKER REN AMAMIYA AKIRA KURUSU LIKE HE IS IN MY PARTY STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO ALBERIUS CLEO AND IEYASU RIGHT NOW AS WE SPEAK--) every character comes with their own 20 minuteish story which i love and then theres also so much wyrmprint/weapon flavor text to read which i love even MORE, i cannot EMPHASIZE HOW MUCH I LOVE FLAVOR TEXT!! the wyrmprint art is also top quality,, off the top of my head prints like valiant crown and the high dragon res set are GORGEOUS. they stopped doing it recently iirc but a few early wyrmprints and stuff would hint at other things? like dueling dancers featured orsem before orsem was even released, there was a mention of the syndicate in another print but they weren't put into a playable story until the scars of the syndicate event in the game's second year. it was so neat how they used to do that can they do that again please.... with a blade print maybe oh my god release a wyrmprint for blades already you already gave STAVES a SKILL DAMAGE PRINT the weapon for HEALERS who DONT DEAL SKILL DAMAGE WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT

i so adore the dragalia life comic strip waaaaaa look at it its so cute,, a couple issues actually made me laugh out loud. my favorite is uhhhh,,, i'm too lazy to look up the number rn but its one with lathna and curran and he keeps tripping over his words as usual its adorable

the SOUNDTRACK,,,, i'm actually listening to force your way rn but when i started typing this i put on we are the lights and then it played because of you and oh force your way just ended and now its notte's slumber shot theme ekdvdjfhjf. its got a huge variety of songs, even if you havent or wont play dragalia at least listen to some of the songs included with it, i linked them for a reason go go go!! we are the lights is my personal favorite, its so satisfying to be able to fight [ SPOILERS ] to this song and you land the final hit at the very climax of the song WAAAA ITS MY FAVORITE FIGHT IN THE WHOLE GAME

as a gacha game ofc it has a huge cast of characters, and while most of them have literally NO relevance to the main plot they're all still so fun and unique and aaaa i love so many of them... as the current icon and one of my previous urls will imply my favorite is orsem! honestly though the range of characters is so funny sometimes like you have the main character, a prince who has inherited the dragonblood which allows him to shapeshift into dragons he's made pacts with, and there's apostles from the north linked to angels who set out to resolve problems concerning demons, three characters linked to unspeakable eldritch horrors, there's all sorts of determined fighters and ex-royalty and very serious characters with tragic backstories and then there's also like. a pirate who can be an opera singer. an opera singer who can be a phantom thief. two clowns. some dancers. a dnd player. gay cowboy. the same gay cowboy but they gave him a gun. the mystical ascended warrior dons a swimsuit and goes surfing with cats on his board. its a fantasy game but there are androids???

i ADORE the character design in this game i will never shut up about how much i love so many of these... three of my favorites: fritz, heinwald and alex

i think fritz is my actual favorite design i mean just look,,,, i normally don't reeeeally like the whole circus/fairgrounds kind of look but like he and annelie? hits a perfect balance. flawless. i automatically adore big wizard cloaks so heinwald was an easy pick. alex is? i dont really know what to pinpoint on her outfit that i likei just like it. the flowy thing on the back is very neat. other honorable mentions are mascula, laxi, mordecai, vixel, sylas, ieyasu and norwin. i want sylas's coat so bad can i commission someone to make it for me or something

on the story side of things though,, i'd say my favorite character stories were sylas and ramiel's. chapter 11 (android anguish), sylas and valerio's stories were the only ones to make me cry,,, ramiel's came close. they were so. aaaauuuugghh i have not stopped thinking about these stories since i read them. i wont say anything more because of spoilers but they're all so...

i think the last thing i have to say here is uh. i adore euden as a protag. he may not be my no. 1 favorite character in the game but i'm gonna give him his own paragraph because he deserves it. i ofc cant say too much because of spoilers but the fact that this guy goes through SO MUCH but is still so, so, SO supportive and kind and determined to help others,,, but not overly perfect all the time? i saw him as too much of a generic Nice(tm) protag at first but actually he's so good?? he goes from the benevolent and powerful King of New Alberia, Defender of the People, The One Destined To Bring Peace To Graestea Once More to "Oh yeah. Totes. (People say totes, right?)" <- direct quote (or at least how i remember it). he's silly. i love euden

haha anyways genshin must be on some wild fucking shit if they think theyre gonna try and drag out their main story for like 2 years. on god having like half a year between main chapters of its already weak spindly little story is like mindboggling decision i do not trust your storytelling skills at all to make any of the hype worth it but i also think thanks to the general playerbases inability to read they will continually feel disappointment at how poor genshins main story content is and how it is purveyed to the reader especially in comparison to the lore which is completely jarring in quality of delivery.

in the archon quest at the end of liyue chapter you get a lore dump from zhongli where he just stands there and gives you like 3 quest prompts about shit that exists for no reason other than idk “they needed to put the plot threads in there asap and they forgot they had an entire world to do it in” and then that mf disappears. forever. literally exiled from the overworld unless you pay like ninety quid to summon him on his banner. not to mention every single other npc you meet will never appear again outside of their instanced quests. it’s such a weird jarring end point that you’re left stranded in and its not only a frustratingly awkward delivery, it honestly just seems pointless. why couldn’t there have been an extended epilogue that involves talking to the npc character FROM inazuma, talking to beidou who is a pirate with an electro vision about idk ... travel and her ELECTRO vision being granted which is a feat she in known for in the lore of liyue folk. it could even be someone from the qixing like ningguang who surely would know about the status of foreign nations or keqing who has an electro vision and would absolutely have something to say about baal’s stance on things and her condescension towards humans. god it could still even be zhongli just space it out, let him invite us to dinner and chat over liyue cuisine and let inazuma come up naturally thgouh paimons huge appetite to eat new things. not only would the pacing be better, the plot threads be put in a way where you dont immediately forget them because they’re being rapidfire talked at you, but it would be a great way to make the character seem like theyre people with lives and not just trying to move the plot along and be on their way.

conversely, the story of arundolyn and rostam, the legends of mondstadt and the ordo favonius, the lion and the wolf, the building hints towards the cataclysm of khaenri’ah and what kind of nation earned the scorn of the gods -- its all slowly fed to you piece by piece linked through artifacts, world lore, in-game books, weapons and sometimes the world itself. you uncover things as you explore and the more thoroughly you explore - the more you discover! it’s rewarding, it feels natural and its some of the most fun you have piecing together stories and building out this strange world like some kinda anime historian and it encourages theorycrafting rather than a concrete set of events and characters being straightforward. its genuinely interesting that theres a whole society and cast of characters from the days of yore who are intimately connected with our current cast and the world we live in but also very much their own interesting characters who hold their own legacies and wills, carving them into the stars for ill or good.

its almost as if the main quest writers and the lore writers are completely separate, work on different floors and they dont ever meet because why ... why on earth would you deliver critical parts of the main story in such a blatantly poor way and make it have none of the nuance and intrigue as the worldbuilding? in a game that is designed for the express purpose of making people sympathetic and invested with characters to spend silly money on them? you think your paper thin story is going to let you do that? no gacha game is allowed to have storytelling subpar to the most average middle of the pack lightnovel and get away with being a gacha game. your story has to have at least a few moments where i am dazzled, daresay fucking delighted, at least a second where i have to stop and say ‘this is cool as hell’ or ‘FUCK ITS HAPPENING’ or else it is well and truly expendably worthless non-product! you have to be a little more ambitious than making some normie shit and try and make the story have a little heart! i dont doubt that they can do it, im sure there are talented writers there since i like a lot of the characterisations but man, let em free you need them no more than ever

the only thing i can think of that explains how watered down the story feels in comparison to lore, is a fear of making people ‘read too much’ in the main quests which honestly doesnt seem to be much of an issue to them. lanternrite wasnt that long but the sheer amount of npc dialogue feels staggering because its all ultimately ... inconsequential. we have no investment into these npcs and theres like 15 odd quests of it, it goes from cool world flavour text to genuinely feels like its taking up space all because they are trying to endear you to the lives of these generic npcs when you’d rather know like even one thing about chongyuns life and daily routine or xinyans performances. being able to see kaeya for one second even was the most fun and even then i was still disappointed cause its like bro? you didnt even let him do anything and it was JUST him? in the world there are so many characters explicitly referenced but never utilised and it makes their complete absence even more noticeable and frankly fucking baffling? not even fate episodes for all of our 12 SRs? actually nevermind, even the character stories are somehow unforgivably generic!

honestly i feel like the best event so far was the unreconciled stars event but by my standards it definitely felt like ‘solid gacha game event story’ with a touch of something more interesting with the inclusion of scaramouche’s lore insight. i was hoping this his how events would be in genshin, i really thought that this was the ‘standard’ but for some reason, its beginning to seem like that event was a bit of an outlier? i would gladly take less events and have them be more like the unreconciled stars event, with character interactions and slowly improving and hashing out who these characters are over never-ending carousel of random events that are mostly fetch-quests or fluff.

idk man its just a strange mess of me enjoying genshins world and theorycrafting, loving playing the game and exploring but feeling like the ball is not bein dropped but violently slammed into the ground by the sheer lack of character content whilst being praised by everyone under the sun for ‘story’ and ‘characters’. m*hoyo do better bitch! you already made such a good roster of characters now fuckin do something with them! stop releasing new characters without bothering with any of the existing ones! i beg of you!

this is another one i think about a lot

on the one hand, (my favorite hand) ‘chosen’ could be almost synonymous with ‘soulmate’. like a kirk and spock situation, or sherlock and watson, the ghost and guardian become inseparable and compliment each others strengths and weaknesses. where a ghost could be shy and soft-spoken, their guardian could be vibrant and assertive. where a guardian could be impulsive and mercurial, a ghost could be stable and pragmatic. we see it in saint and geppetto, osiris and sagira, zavala and targe, im sure that sundance was at least 60% of caydes impulse control and probably the brains behind the operation bc we all know she was in on his bullshit 100% of the time but hed have been perma-dead long before forsaken if she wasnt also the sensible one between the two.

just that kind of seamless partnership, not necessarily romantic, but just. one of those deep and profound soul connections that comes only once in a lifetime. (thats not to say it cant be romantic, i mean anything is possible when youre that close to someone and essentially neurally linked til RTL death do you part; obviously one losing the other is an emotionally and psychologically devastating event in addition to physically. looking directly at osiris for this one. you loose someone youre bonded with that closely and it completely rips your life apart.)

on that same hand: things happen. things can go wrong. fundamental differences can still cause a rift between two people regardless of how close they are. ikora and ophiuchus come to mind off the top of my head, and im pretty sure theyve gone decades without so much as speaking to each other. id believe it if someone said they were never even in the same room together until the exact moment ophi needs to be there for utility.

on the other (tangentially related) hand, weve seen plenty of examples where ghosts and their chosen dont get along at all. what are the circumstances there? was there a Spark? does their little paracausal postmortem soul-reading tell them about the potential of their guardian in terms of power only, and for that reason they searched for the potentially strongest guardian they could find regardless of whether they felt some deeper connection? not all ghosts were created equal, after all, and they can range from gentle and supportive to selfish and cold just like we do. would that misalignment without the spark cause an instant rift between them and make for a terminally unstable partnership?

and what is that spark? how do they know? is it guesswork? is it a light-resonance like the bond between souls in soul eater where they search and search and they sift through rough or sharp or jagged light sensations until they find the one that slots in perfectly with their own? each ghost is just as unique as each guardian, and they may be able to communicate with each other instantly over vast distances, but theyre certainly no hivemind. theyre just as alive and willful as guardians, just in a much smaller package.

the ghosts that have lost more than one guardian; was it just a matter of “its not meant to be” because they didnt resonate on a light level and some paracausal force corrected that in the most brutal way possible to avoid losing one of them to the darkness? (arguably a fate worse than death from the travelers standpoint) because while the gardener is certainly what we assume to be the ultimate benevolent force of nature, its still a force of nature in its own strange way, and nature can be the most ruthless of teachers. imagine a ghost, for any reason, looking for what they hope to be the strongest guardian in the system but they lack the foresight and responsibility or the maturity to handle that strength with grace and skill and that guardian goes bad.

it dovetails nicely into post-collapse society, with risen becoming warlords when they find out theyre essentially gods made flesh -- they can do whatever they want to whoever they want, and whos gonna stop them? some mortal with a dinky little gun? please. unchecked power corrupts, without fail. the ghosts are still young then, and scared and seeking power for protection, for guarding this increasingly endangered species, but mistakes are going to be made when desperation is whats driving you. imagine they try harder with the next one, still looking for someone strong, but they fail again and again until they decide to let destiny (ha) guide them to The One, putting out their little feelers until they reach a spark of light that feels like home.

theres so much to chew on. i dont think the ghosts even really know, even if they could find a way to explain it beyond “idk man, felt right at the time”. theyre stumbling blindly through all of this right alongside us. while they certainly feel, or at least understand, the travelers will, they dont exactly have it on speed dial for any questions that come up. it made them just like it made us in that desperate scramble for survival and protection against its exact polar opposite.

1.-  A sort of fix it final when the meta elements were actually on play: 

Sam takes better the all “we are not real people, we are character in a story thing” and aproach the problem as it looking for inconsistens in the narrative of god. He get at the conclusion that to rebeling the narrative they should go against their characterization and convice all team free will + Eileen that goes in an actual vacation is the best way to rebel.  

All of them reflect on their lives, they discover Castiel deal with the empty and their is Destiel angst. 

The end is a conversation with Chuck about why the hell did he wrothe a insanely amount of books about brothers hunting monster, like that man is not okey. In reallity Chuck based John character in himself, just in his life the fire happen when he was taking care of his two sons because he and Mary were divorcing (because he was the worst) but the baby boy actually dies on the fire, his oldest son and Mary hate Chuck as the result and all his life crumbles. The books are he (badly) coping with everithing. 

2- A 16 season with alt!Sam and alt!Dean as the bad guys. 

I really love the idea that the only worst thing that could happen to Dean and Sam is that their lives didnt happen. What if their spoiled version are more powerfull, dangerous and evil that they? 

They looks really harmless but when a hunt need reinforcement and their alt! versions are the only ones available Dean and Sam realized that the spoiled brats are actually terrific Hunters. Whit a caring guide and time Alt!Sam developed a demon blood serum that he can take without all the secondary effects (it is obtained by very dark metods) and that combined with his natural talent for magic and research make him a death machine. By his part Dean get time to work on himself and become a scholar, as he is not obsesed with cars he focus on ingenier and object design, and while the family bussines growth his father give him the colt at who he rapidly get attachment, he modificated her and started developing weapons for hunting, deadly gatgets that remained real Dean at his time as torture lord. Alt!Dean is also a charming leader and a great liar who goes all the way to protect his family and obtain what he want.

Sam and Dean discovers that Hunter Corps was more a world domination institution  that a provider of hunter services, that thier counter parts and theitr father controled the Heaven and Hell of their dimension and that all this time alt! winchesters were trying to found his father to do the same in this dimension. 

At the end Jack (god) had alt!John trapped in a dimensional jail and alt!Dean trick him to let him go free just to discover that alt!John is actually the vessel of alt!Cas, alt!John said yes the night Mary died at the promise of vengance. Hunting Azazel is nothing for alt!Castiel who get in charge of the babies Winchesters by Heaven orders. Alt! Castiel obviously developed feelings for their sons and betrayed heaven much earlier. Hunter corps actual job is deliver every monster soul to the Winchesters to make their father stronger. When Crowley apparead and proposed a deal to alt!Castiel the boys convenced him to betrayed Crowley so they take control over hell and all its souls. So Alt!Cas could kills his brothers and became an arcangel. 

Im not shure how Team free will would won but they would. And also Destiel and Saileen happen. 

3.- A happy ending fix it 

Sam and Eileen started a more cohesive and organized red of hunters with the bunker as central base. While Dean is spiraling in alcohol and depresion. Sam confronted his brother and get him cleaned and get him profesional help. Dean is better but very fragil. 

In the red of hunter they discover a convent of witches that are trying a dark ritual to defeat the new god, luckily the wayward sisters stopped them on time just to discover that the ritual included killed the most powerfull witch of the convent who is a small child. Claire let the kid to Sam and she ended hidden at Dean’s house as the Hunters found all the fugitives witches. 

The events catalyzes Dean’s recovery and he started a house for orphans kids linked to Sam´s hunter red. When Sam goes to saw his brother the place (the old Bobby´s house) is changed and in the entrace its read “eternal thursday afternoon” (because im a sap). Dean get in charge of the little Witch girl, two brothers sons of hunters who died and one of that babies who turns into canibal insects at thirty. The house is decorating with bees and angels and Sam realized that Dean is not over Castiel´s death.

At the same time we had Jack dealing with his god responsabilies and avoiding go and talk with the empty, because he is conviced that the empty would used Castiel to broke him. 

At the end the empty appared in front of Dean trying to kill him, because it is tired of his constat prays to the death angel that kept them both awake. As soon as the empty apeared in earth Jack is summon too and fight the empty trapping him away. Dean and Jack are transported at the empty space that is uncontroled and they didnt know what to do. Jack summon Sam and he get the idea to named a new empty lord, they juggler names until they summnon Crowley. 

Meanwhile Dean igonerd all of it to go and found Castiel. 

Crowley accepted the charge and transformed the empty in a likely heaven/hell for demonds and angels. It could be something sily as a beach resort for the heaven and a terrible airport line for hell. As well as a regular eternal dream for the real dangerous ones. 

Dean gets Castiel out and they are both happy and together adopting and caring of orphans. 

4. - A shorter fix it

When Jack become God he transformed Sam, Dean, Castiel and Eileen in the new four arcangels to help him. Everyone is happy and there is world peace and love. 

5 . - Undeterminated fix it

The ending didnt happen, Jack kills Chuck, but Amara survives. Jack give up his angel powers so Amara can became god and he become human. 

However Sam gets badly hurt in a hunt, there is no time for ambulance and Castiel powers are to weak to do something. Jack is in the buncker being the base of operation. Dean and Castiel try to found a solution and Dean offered his soul to help boosting Cas, but Cas said that he hadn’t enought energy to touch Dean souls. They managament to add 2 to 2 and realized that the demon deals are the demons taking souls. So Dean sale his soul to Castiel in exchange of his brother healt. The important part is that they kiss. 

After a while the three of them are called in front of Amara and Rowena (Queens of heaven and hell respectivily) and they are scolted because they just bend the rules, again. Dean cant aged because his soul is tied to Castiel and the angel wouldn´t  take his life or send his soul to heaven or hell and while Castiel had Dean soul the healt of Sam is perfect because of the deal. So the brothers are virtually inmortal beings. Dean didnt aged and Sam healt didnt deteriored by anything. 

I dont know were this is going to go but it would go somewhere.

My name is Neo. I am a neurodivergent young adult from the United States.

Neurodivergent, you say?

Yes! Neurodivergent means my brain does not function the same way that a typical human does. However that does not stop me from living a normal, everyday life just like everyone else!

I have Asperger’s Syndrome, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Maladaptive Daydreaming Disorder (MaDD), and Dyscalculia, all diagnosed. It is also highly suspected that i have Bipolar Disorder and Trichotillomania (TTM), suggested to me by people who have either condition.

Being subject to these conditions, I have quite a few struggles in my daily life. I have sensory issues, so things like uncomfortable clothes and strong scents can make it so I’m unable to function at full capacity. If these sensory issues are pushed further and further, I am at risk of going into a sensory overload or a meltdown. That only happens very rarely for me, though.

My attention span is very flaky, and I have a difficult time staying on one topic for long periods of time. I need constant changing stimuli for me to not burn out while on a task. This ironically contributes to hyperfixation, an intense focus on one particular thing for a period of time. I know, that seems like the opposite of what I said before, but they are linked. See, hyperfixation isn’t exactly something that can be forced. When hyperfocusing, I may not be able to take myself out of that particular focus, and it consumes all my thoughts for however long my brain decides to hyperfixate on it. This contributes to my flaky attention span because instead of being able to force myself to focus on something im supposed to be doing, instead the brain goes “no, you’re going to think about this one thing and we’re going to make it very hard for you to focus on anything BUT this one thing. Special Interests (SI’s) follow a similar, yet more intense pattern. SI’s last much longer, if not lifelong for me. Theyre more prominent and effective on my life than my hyperfixations.

This is where MaDD comes into play. MaDD is a condition that can be adopted and unlearned. The DSM doesn’t recognize it as an official disorder, but it is a condition that exists in many people, especially people with attention or anxiety related contitions. MaDD shares a lot of traits with cases of addiction too, however this one is much easier to take control of and is not exactly harmful. The first word, maladaptive, can be broken in half: Mal and Adaptive. Mal means bad or poor, and adaptive means the ability to adapt. Maladaptive Daydreaming basically means daydreaming that causes poor adaptation skills. MaDDers are typically those who have conditions like Autism, AD(H)D, OCD, General Anxiety, and Dyslexia. Most people adopt the technique of Maladaptive Daydreaming in their childhood or early teens and if not caught early on, can last their entire lives. However, MaDD isn’t essentially a harmful thing. Like I said, it’s easily controlled. You may be asking, “what exactly is it about MaDD that causes poor adaptation? its just daydreaming.” MaDDers daydream at an average of 6 hours minimum a day. These daydreams are intense and easily triggered by everyday things like music, art, friends, even normal emotional events. MaDDers tend to use these dreams as an escape from reality but also a reality of their own, like a lucid dream but for your waking self. The daydreams tend to have intricately woven worlds, stories, chracters, and plots, all feeling just as real to the dreamer as the rest of life itself. MaDDers tend to daydream to escape real situations they may not want to be a part of and sometimes even cancel plans just to continue to daydream.

Why are you telling me all of this? This all seems so personal and insignificant to me.

This is FAR from insignificant to anyone. You may not be Autistic or a MaDDer or even neurodivergent, but I know that as a human being you still have lots of struggles, just like me. Ive told you all about my struggles and you’re probably thinking “wow how pathetic, they cant control their own brain.” Yeah actually, I can. Even if you weren’t thinking that, (which I actually highly doubt anyone was thinking that I just wanted to put an example of worst case scenario) what if I told you that no matter what, no matter who you were or what you were going through, you can still grab hold of yourself and make your life yours? You better believe it, because despite all the conditions I just told you I have, I have taught myself to make my own path in life and not let my struggles decide what my fate is. I believe anything is possible with a little patience and elbow grease, so thats why I have made this blog. It is sorta a combination of a journal, an advice blog, and an inspirational quote blog. I want to be able to share my knowledge of my identity and experiences in order to hopefully inspire someone to get up out of the hole theyre stuck in and make their life their own again! I love the conditions I have, and I use their benefits as my superpowers and dont let the negative aspects of them hold me back. They are a part of me and who I am and I will treat them with just as much love and care as I should treat myself, and hopefully you can treat yourself with the same amount of love too <3

Debuff Zane Build

i am tired of not seeing this build in all the zane build videos i watch so im sharing it here because its stupid fun bc u run fast and kill faster. it’s not meta, but its fun as fuck and u have a lot of damage and survivability with it. I’ve completed M4 Slaughter Shaft with it- haven’t tried on M10 yet but i have faith. p.s its 4 am pls have mercy if there’s spelling mistakes.

what ur gonna need is a band of sitorak, zheitseiv’s eruption, a seein’ dead, and the piss grenade. everything else is fair game, whatever u want. try to get it to have the sntl cryo anoint bc good. but u must have the 4 main items for this to work perfectly (it also somewhat works with a low level Frozen Heart bc best shield in the game but you will die a lot more)

also i need a fucking name for this build help

sometimes i switch the reg Q-System for a kaoson or a nighthawkin if i need ammo (OP QSystem is... OP but not as fun as a tracking grenade QSystem so i don’t care for it) and maybe the brainstormer for a reflux if many shielded enemies (i prefer the brainstormer over the reflux atm. so try for a brainstormer!!)

3rd slot, that’s a monarch which used to be a dictator b4 it got a straight upgrade. I actually don’t use the bipod unless im in a boss fight and don’t need to move fast. usually violent momentum and violent violence cover the dps loss

ur first 3 gun slots honestly don’t matter much. I have my reasons for using them, but you can use whatever u want i think, so long as its a strong weapon (bc unfortunately a lot of weapons are not scaled for m10). u dont HAVE to use the monarch or the Q system or the brainstormer. I recommend them, cuz theyre fun, but u don’t gotta if u wanna swap em out for a a kaoson or a yellowcake or a sandhawk or smth

the last gun is my zheitsev’s eruption. This bad boy, when u reload, shoots out homing balls of debuffery. So every enemy that gets hit with these gets a debuff. I have tried this with the needler but I prefer Zheitsev’s bc it can hit more enemies and once and takes less time. this gun only goes to Blane (ur clone). 

for the skill trees we have no points in under cover even tho brainfreeze is the best skill in the gaaaaame

explanations: 

really the hitman tree is p self explanatory, u wanna go fast as fuck boiii. My band of sitorak does not have the +15 movespeed while zoomer is active anoint (it has the break shield amp anoint, which is p okay. want movespeed, but a nice human from the reddit gave me this sitorak so i didn’t have to farm). u want drone delivery bc Blane will NOT be throwing grenades. If you try to make him throw grenades with the seein’ dead he will ONLY throw grenades and never fire his gun, meaning he’ll never reload. it’s a nightmare. anyway. u want the piss grenade (ideally with the +25% damage on thrown anoint). im not looking forward to regrinding this when they finally mayhem buff grenades.

we put one point into playing dirty because we want those extra shots and honestly with the amount of times seein’ dead can proc ur kill skills you’ll have it more often than not

we also have points in good misfortune for that sweet sweet uptime (which btw can be infinite using the brainstormer/reflux bc it is essentially a redistributor without the need for ur barrier) the monarch/dictator also does it justice

for Blane u DON’T WANT praemuntis. we want blane reloading as often as gotdamn possible. now unfortunately my seein’ dead gave me a +weapon mag size roll (im actually not sure if this affects blane, but im assuming it does) but it does have the amazing +5 donnybrook so I’m taking it anyway. I am so not looking forward to regrinding a good class mod when they finally release action skill buffs for them. i cri. i actually hear 3 points in donnybrook and 2 in violent violence is p good (or 1 in violent violence 1 in playin dirty) so maybe grinding won’t be so bad. maybe i’ll finally get a +weapon damage roll

u can grab 1 point in ducttape mod and put 4 points into borrowed time if you want. it doesn’t really matter. i current have 5 in borrowed time and 3 in pocket full of grenades (for some reason??? usually i only put 2 in.). U can do that and use those extra points for either ducttape mod or more points in playing dirty. 

u NEED quick breather. This skill has a STUPID interaction with the band of sitorak shield because of how quickly it recharges. I’m talking, the instant you swap with Blane, you have full shields and so does he. It’s dumb, I love it. Use it to get out of trouble.

so im probably gonna need to explain why i have 3 points in trick of the light: im a cryo slut. That’s it. put those wherever you want, just make sure you can get Double Barrel. i’ve seen builds where people actually go for brainfreeze, i might try that next time i respec.

Double barrel will make it so blane can use the zheitsev’s eruption and debuff your enemies for you. it’s worth it.

so the augments u want are these:

SCHADENFREUDE. because band of sitorak has such a tiny capacity, ur shield is constantly up. If its not, it’s constantly breaking from full capacity. this does have a fun effect with the amp shield break anoint, but mainly i like it for the 25% damage buff whenever it breaks. its a tradeoff for damage, ur constantly swapping between max shields and more damage, so its actually p constant survivability and damage over the long run.

i grab doppelbanger bc blane sometimes gets stuck in the floor and/or i don’t feel like running all the way back. i wouldn’t recommend getting which one’s real or digital distribution only bc u want him alive as much as possible. u can also get binary system instead of doppelbanger, its up to you

for Zoomer u want bad dose for the movement speed and (sometimes) static field (only if the enemies have shields). this is so if blane goes down or he isn’t taking damage, zoomer can refill ur shields. if the enemies won’t have shields usually i grab winter’s drone or boomsday depending on how i feel.

im actually gonna try to see if i can’t grab brain freeze. hang on. i know trick of the light is frowned upon for most people so lemme just respec. (im sorry i just love the vibes it gives me it’s like HAHA you thought that was me? no!!! boop. and then they’re ice sculptures and man i love h2o i wish emma had frozen more people the only people she really freezes are Greg and Miriam and honestly she doesn’t even kill Greg smh. (Greg is dr denman’s assistant. greg is highkey god.) I do like what she did to Mirami, the fucking implications that YES these teenage girls ARE powerful enough to instakill people, they just don’t out of the kindness of their hearts. Rikki was badass that episode too. actually i love the episode where rikki almost boils a dude alive for making a fool of her with ILLEGAL F I S H and burns people using steam from a pipe. rikki is my favorite mermaid- she knew what was u p. so i think im gonna have to live with the slower reload speed (sob) but yes u can in fact get brain freeze with this build. lemme show...

so ye in the event u just can’t live without freezing people (i know the feeling) feel free to do this. imma play with this for a bit and see if i can live with slower reload. I actually depend on the 100% cryo with zoomer active for all my cryo damage. i also use an ice breaker so they freeze fairly easy (but only on mobs. on bosses u want the snowdrift or something else)

this build isn’t really meta and u might have trouble doing a solo run of true takedown on m10... bc its true takedown on m10, but honestly it’s fun as F U C K. you CAN do it, but it’s not no thoughts head empty like barrier-redistrubutor/yellowcake zane can be so u gotta be on TOP of ur SHIT. i love it. running around killing stuff. it’s fun. i also love teleporting. it’s my FAVORITE THING. I STILL GET GIDDY OVER IT BECAUSE IT’S SO FUN. ask my friends, they will tell you, sometimes i’ll just start gushing over how much fun it is to teleport even though i’ve played zane since release. just. GFDGHKJGDFK so much fun. i just... b o o p. god i love this game. i took a break to play assassin’s creed odyssey (fun sneaky beaky game, pretty awful dialogue) so DAMN i missed this.
