Ohhh this scene. This one's a doozy

Nine is right to call this out about Sonic, of course. While he's definitely grown since the start of the show, he's never really been able to move past his tunnel vision and tendency to project onto the others.

He never thought to ask Nine what he wanted not because he doesn't care, but because he didn't think he needed to. He inherently assumes that the people he's working with are on the same page as him until told otherwise - in fact, it wasn't too long ago that he was similarly thrown off by Shadow in that very room.

(Love Shadow being used as a sort of "test run" for these kinds of conflicts by the way)

But here's the thing. While it's true that Sonic didn't really think about what Nine wanted and just assumed they were going to stick together no matter what... the same is true of Nine.

Look at how confused Nine looks when Sonic talks about coming back to Green Hill and restoring it:

Nine didn't ask what Sonic was wanting to do by repairing the Prism because he thought it was obvious that they were going back to the Grim together. I don't think it occurred to him that fixing Green Hill was even an option, or at least not one that he considered in favor of his original plans.

And just like Sonic, it's not that he only cares about himself - he went out of his way to engineer coconuts and (presumably) palm trees because he knew how much Sonic missed them. It was really sweet!

But, in what's becoming a pattern in this show, he doesn't understand why those trees matter to Sonic. They're not just cool plants, they're a reminder of home. And as Sonic aptly puts it at the start of the show, home is where your friends are.

I love that the conflict here is that both of them were convinced they knew what the other person wanted/would be okay with, because they think it'll naturally be the same thing they want, and then were both completely unprepared to handle a conflict of interest. It feels so natural and makes perfect sense with how they've been written up to this point.

But see, while I think it's pretty clear that Sonic and Nine fell into the exact same communication trap, I think it's going to take longer for Nine to realize his own fault in any of this.

Sonic spent the entire second half of that conversation looking devastated, and he's made it clear throughout the show that he's quick to feel remorse when he realizes he's hurt someone. In all likelihood, he's going to put all of the blame for that argument on himself, decide that Nine was right about everything, and leave it at that.

Nine, likewise, doesn't strike me as a particularly self-reflective type. He'd probably try to justify not needing Sonic to himself before anything else, and with that in mind, who else is there to make him see the situation with more nuance?

If I had to pick, I'd guess Shadow - our resident "smacking people in the face with their own flaws" extraordinaire.

Why would he bother with any sort of mediating between the two? Well, the funniest reason would be that he finds Sonic's self-pitying and Nine's self-righteousness equally annoying, but I'm inclined to assume any sort of confrontation between him and Nine would be a little more dramatic than that. (He might still use that reasoning as justification though)

Anyway I gotta cut this post short before I go too far into speculation territory or else I'll be here for another hour and this took long enough to write as is, case in point I love me a well-written and believable conflict

Anon asked: I don’t know if this is too personal or not, but if you feel comfortable sharing, what prompted you to make a return after not posting at all for about 3 years?

A: That's okay, I don't mind you asking. To be honest, I just suffered from art block for a very long time. I couldn't get myself to draw no matter how hard I tried. I would sit myself down and try to force myself to do it, but I just couldn't. I don't know why it went away and I don't know why it came back, but suddenly my spark came back with a vengeance! I'm back to wanting to draw all the time! I think that's both the wonderful and awful thing about creativity: you can't force it. It sucks, but hopefully I can serve as proof to others who are going through it that you can spring back from it.

A: Yes I LOVE Coraline! I never read the book but I love the movie. It fills my spooky little heart and soul!

A: I want to say Nightmare Before Christmas, but to be completely honest it's probably Mars Attacks! It's so campy and funny and it has that retro horror sci-fi film feel to it, and the cast rocks. It checks all the boxes for me. I even have a Mars Attacks! print hung up at my office at work:

A: I went through a severe art block and hadn't drawn anything for a long time, even though I had the whole script for it written out. However since getting my mojo back, I've completely re-written the story and am working on it again. Anon asked: I’m unsure if you’ve been asked this before, feel free to ignore if so but would you ever consider opening a Patreon? Y’know for earlier access and possibly spicy art🤔?

A: I did have a Patreon once upon a time, but it gave me severe imposter syndrome lol It put too much pressure on me to put out content that I thought was worthy enough for people to be paying for, so I ultimately closed it down. It doesn't mean I won't ever open it up again, but I don't have any immediate plans to do that. Also regarding the spice haha 😅 I appreciate your interest, but I just don't like to share that kind of content.

A: I don't watch much anime anymore, but I used to be obsessed with Naruto. That's primarily what I would draw back in my dA days, but I lost interest in it a long time ago. I also loved Fruits Basket, Kill La Kill, One Punch Man and Attack on Titan. There are other shows I've watched, but those were the major series. I haven't seen the series you mentioned, sorry!

A: So far my favorite game-movie adaptation is the Super Mario Bros movie! I love it so much! I love that they kept the style of the game but made it a little more polished than what you'd get in the games. I loved the characters, I loved all the references within it, I loved the music. I just think it's a perfect adaptation. Of course I'm super excited for Sonic 3! I'm sure it's going to be great, I'm just praying that Amy will be in it! I need her in it :( I'd love to see a movie adaptation of Dead Space. That's one of my favorite games and ooh I think it'd make such a good horror film. I know they made animated movies for it, but I want it done in a proper hollywood horror way!

MISC SONIC ASKS

Anon asked: I was wondering what your favourite brotherly head cannon would be between Sonic and Tails? :3

A: Even though Sonic's older and technically raised Tails, I love the idea of them sort of "raising each other." Sonic teaches Tails how to defend himself, how to navigate the world, how to do the right thing, but Tails is the one who teaches Sonic how to read and write, introduces him to philosophical discussions that Sonic finds really boring but actually helps him to be a better hero and be a better version of himself. I even like the idea of Tails being the one to teach Sonic how to play music. Sonic has a natural talent for it, but Tails is the one to teach him notes and chords, how to actually read sheet music, things like that.

umbrathehedgehog asked: Hey, I noticed that one piece about Sonic Prime. It's very nice! What did you like or not like about the show? Been seeing a lot of differing opinions on it and I'm really curious about what you thought!

A: Thanks so much! As a whole I'd say it was okay. It certainly wasn't the best Sonic media out there in my opinion but no way was it the worst. I understand it's a kid's show, but it was way too formulaic for me. It got to the point where I could pretty much bet "in 2 minutes Character A is going to seem like all is lost, then a loud explosion/sudden shake will happen, and they'll look up like 'whuAHHH???' and Character B will show up to help." That's fine, but not when it's happening multiple times every single episode. So to be honest, it wasn't a show that I looked forward to watching like I did with Sonic Boom. It was just something I had on because it was Sonic-related. But Sonic Prime had a lot of good character writing and the acting was great. They explored character relationships/dynamics and emotions that some other Sonic content hasn't done before, so I applaud them for that. It's mirroring what happened in Sonic Frontiers and I love that the franchise is willing to dig a little deeper on an emotional level like that. And I've said it before but I'll say it a million times more: Shadow was PERFECT! The positive of having Shadow portrayed so excellently far outweighed any negatives I could say for the show!

A: Well we didn't get to see very much of her, but I loved her design! She was very majestic and beautiful and kind. None of the characters or storyline from the live action movies are part of my AU.

Anon asked: So when’s did aurora learn that she could turn invisible? And did she use it to pull a prank on her parents making them think she disappeared

A: Aurora discovers her light abilities when she's young (think about preteen age), but she doesn't fully know what all she can do yet. It takes a lot of experimenting and studying with Uncle Tails to figure out everything she can do. He is the one who tells her that if she can bend light, she should be able to use it to cloak herself. Tails and Sonic obviously mean she should use it as a defensive move, but Aurora instantly thinks it's the perfect power for pranks! Picture a lot of objects "floating" around the house with a lot of phony "OooooOOoooOOOO" ghost noises haha

Anon asked: Is aurora a comic book fan? If so what’s her favorite series

A: Aurora can enjoy super hero related stuff, but she's not an avid fan of it and I would say she does not read comics. Aurora is more into fantasy/romance books. Ruff is the one who is into comic books :) His favorite would be Batman.

Anon asked: I love your idea of Aurora and Sage being close friends, I really think that fits! That being said, do you think Sage and CC would get along?

A: Thank you! I've been thinking about it and I like the idea of Sage and CC being rivals, but in a very cheeky, friendly way. Sort of like Sonic and Knuckles. Sage and CC would make everything into a competition to see who can solve this problem fastest or who can simulate something best, to determine who is truly the more intelligent of the two AIs. But again, not in a toxic way. In a "I have to be the best version of myself in order to beat you because the respect I have for you is insanely high" kind of way. And Sage could playfully tease CC for wanting to become organic because it'd be a "step backwards" in her evolution, but really she'd work to find a way to help make CC's dream come true.

A: Orange is in the same color family as red and pink, so I think it still works. As far as color theory, in my AU Aurora has a grandma who is yellow and Shadow's fur includes red, so by blending those colors you can get orange. It's the same reason why Nova is purple, it's a blend of colors from their lineage. I tried Cinder out in several different colors but orange is ultimately what fit him best.

A: They're more like best friends than sisters/cousins. I know people draw Sage growing older and stuff but I personally headcanon that she'd stay in the form of a child because she feels no need to grow up. But once she's friends with Aurora, then I could see her "aging" up alongside Aurora so that she always matches her friend. It's just a headcanon of mine for now and that could ultimately change in the future.

Anon asked: Has Aurora ever been to space before if so what were her thoughts. Was she like markiplier with the whole space is so cool song.

A: Aurora DESPERATELY wants to go to space more than anything! But for most of her life she hardly ever left her home. It isn't until she's grown up that she actually starts to properly explore the world. Eventually I want her to go to space, but it would be once she's living on her own.

A: You are just so sweet, thank you! You know I'm very pro tats and I love seeing what people think the different Sonic characters would get. For my AU, I only have two (technically three) characters depicted with tattoos. Amy's dad Clay Rose has two tattoos on his bicep: A heart with his wife's name in it, and then a matching little heart with Amy's name in it. Adult Knuckles has a simple "M.E." tattooed on his bicep. It's a reference to Knuckles' theme and also his dedication to the Master Emerald. Lastly, I have the human version of Cinder (but only the human version) with forearm sleeves that continue down his hands. So far those are the only characters I have with tattoos. As far as piercings, most of my characters have ear piercings but they don't often wear earrings. Blitz and Lulu are the only characters who always wears earrings. I could see Shadow getting at least an ear pierced, but I headcanon that with his rapid healing that it would almost instantly close if he didn't actively wear a piercing at the time.

Anon asked: I totally hope that Piper will have a girlfriend! Do you see her more with a girl or a boy?

A: I currently see PIper as demiromantic. She is currently not interested in anyone romantically or physically, and I don't want to diminish that part of her identity by saying 'Oh but she'll eventually end up with __." Of course, a headcanon is whatever you want so if you personally ship her with a woman that's cool with me!

Anon asked: Hey evay, i was looking at this old info of Amy, and It says that she wans't always at home, did Aurora had any issue with that? Did some part of her childhood she could say that she had mother issues? (Sorry if you can't understand, my english it's terrible 💀)

A: Your English is excellent! I wouldn't go so far as to say Aurora had mother issues. Amy wasn't completely absent from Aurora's youth, she was just working a lot so she wasn't constantly at home the way Sonic was. It would have made things a little awkward/emotional at times because that naturally made Aurora favor Sonic a little more when she was younger, but that also made the times she did have with Amy all the more special. Aurora never thought to herself "My mom has abandoned me because she's never home," it was more of a "Work is stupid and being grown up is stupid because it means Mom can't stay home and play with me all day." Aurora and Amy grow a lot closer as Aurora gets older and better understands the meaning of responsibilities and commitment.

A: Wow, that's so kind of you to say! Thank you so much! I hope you do make ref sheets for your characters :) I haven't planned anything with Silver for my AU yet. To be honest, I don't know his character very well and I try my best to always keep the original characters in-character, so that's why I haven't done anything with him yet. But I recently purchased the volumes of IDW comics and I'm hoping to understand him better and then I will be more confident writing him! Secondly, none of the Shadora horde are immortal. They have stronger immune systems so they can heal faster and are less likely to get sick than the average Mobian, but they are still mortal and still age at a normal rate. Thank you for the questions and compliments!

A: Thank you so much! I need to make a comic about it. When they were young they were all exploring the different zones and Cinder was really struggling with some of the obstacles so he was already getting quite aggravated. Diamond noticed this and offered to help because some problems are better solved as a team, and Cinder immediately gets pissed and tells her to buzz off. She gets upset that he snaps at her, and there's some escalation between the two and finally Cinder blows up at her (literally). He immediately regrets it as he did not mean to hurt her, but the damage is already done.

A: Hmm. Well, even though Metal Sonic is based on Sonic, I love stories that involve him having an identity crisis and ultimately deciding that he's not just going to be a clone. He's his own entity, right? They're alike, but they're not the same. I don't know where he'd be on that self journey by the time he meets CC, but she'd definitely see him as his own person, not as a Sonic copy. But likely he'd still be an antagonist, so they'd end up having to battle lol

A: They definitely exist in my AU, but I haven't completely decided what their roles are yet. I can see Vector becoming Cream's stepdad (I'm not passionate about the VanillaXVector ship but I know it's practically canon), and then that leads me down a rabbit hole (pun intended) of how does that affect the dynamics of Team Chaotix? I have some rough ideas but I need to spend more time on it.

A: I had to add this question immediately after because your idea of Grunkle Stan made me laugh out loud! Oh my gosh I love that!

A: ¡Gracias! The character you're referring to was an OC made by my friend Nana, a Sonamy fankid named Spazz. I sometimes drew him interacting with Aurora because my friend Nana and I just liked to draw our characters interacting, but Spazz is not a part of my AU. Nana is no longer on tumblr so that's why there aren't any Spazz art/comics anymore.

I’ve recently re-read your ‘Boom Baby’ comic & was wonderin’ - especially with all their attempts - did Sonic or Amy, either one, stuggle with infertility? If so, did they ever have any doubts of that “I’m pregnant” moment ever happening?

A: Infertility is a very real issue that many people (including those very close in my life) deal with. Although I do think it's very important for people to be able to see their experiences reflected in the media they consume to help them remember that they aren't alone in their experience, this is not something I wanted Sonic and Amy to have to deal with for Boom!Baby. The chapter where Sonic references making multiple attempts during a certain window of time was not meant to imply that they were struggling with infertility. It was instead supposed to show that now that they've both decided they want a child, Amy doesn't want to take any chances to make sure it happens lol. TMI - Even without fertility issues, getting pregnant is not always guaranteed so it can take a lot of planning and timing (and frankly, luck) to be successful. Super TMI - I headcanon that Sonic and Amy are already intimate A LOT so now that they're trying for a baby it's above and beyond and that's why Sonic is tired in that chapter lol

A: My AU is a fluid situation haha It adapts as more Sonic content comes out and I get to pick what I want to include. That's what makes AUs fun! Hmmm, ultimately I'm going to say no, I don't think Prime is canon to my stories.

And that's how Sonic and Amy have been throughout the years

A: Hello! I have seen the movies and I read some of the books, but I don't know the series all that well. Actually, I don't remember Ginny being in the movies much at all, so I was a little confused when she and Harry ended up together. Maybe there was more to it in the books that I just never read. So if I'm going solely based on the movies I've seen, I can't say that I see the correlation. But that's not to say you're wrong in thinking that :)

Cause Metal Sonic and Amy is a ship that kinda baffles me. Like most Amy ships have some appeal. Sonic is obvious, you’re Ms. Sonamy after all. But Shads, Silver, Blaze, and even Surge have fun dynamics, and Metal doesn’t really strike me as a character that is able to be shipped effectively… Thoughts?

A: There definitely are ships that I don't understand. But if I don't understand or don't like a ship (or fan theories, or whatever), I'd rather just not talk about them. I used to indulge in that style of arguing discussion when I was a kid but I don't do that kind of stuff anymore. If I don't get something I just say "That's not for me" and move along. I do support the MetAmy ship myself but it's not at the top of my ship list (lol). I like it because Metal Sonic is based on Sonic, and if they're meant to be similar and I believe that Sonic does care about Amy, then that logic would tell me that Metal cares about Amy, too. And even though Metal is a villain, Amy does care about his well being (just like she cares about everyone's well being). Metal Sonic is also one of the main reasons Amy and Sonic met in the first place, so I think she holds a special place in her heart for him, even if it's not 100% romantic. That's my reasoning, but I don't want or expect you to change your opinion.

A: I don't really do exact ages, but Sonic and Amy have Aurora roughly when they're in their mid-to-late 20s. So they would be in their mid-to-late 40s when Aurora and Shadow first meet.

A: Hmm, I think my fav Shadora art is the comic where Shadow and Aurora discuss her "wings" (back quills). It started out as just a fluffy piece but I think it really set the tone for their relationship in my stories. As far as a double date -- I could see them trying a double date early on when Shadow first states his intention to date Aurora, but it doesn't go well. Years later when Sonic is more accepting of their relationship I could see them occasionally going out for lunch/dinner together instead of just their weekly family dinners at home.

A: CC doesn't need to rest, but Tails is so soft that she just loves to lay against him so she'd definitely use him for a lap pillow more. BONUS POINTS for using his tails as a shawl around her shoulders! Shadow is more likely to rest his head in Aurora's lap. The way she strokes his quills is very soothing and makes him feel content. She also has thick thighs so very, very comfy for lap pillows!

I wrote this while going over The Brotherhood but since it has very little to do with the episode, I'm posting it separate.

I think I discussed previously the likelihood that Sheppard attended boarding schools from a very young age due to his family background. Having spent most of his life in boarding schools, academies, and the military, you would probably learn to do all things (eating, sleeping, cleaning, grooming; and yes, sex) quickly and without really having time to enjoy them, even if your tastes didn't run toward trysts that also needed to be had in secret. But adding to that the requirement of stealth and secrecy would also increase the feeling of immediacy, the need to have it over with quick.

I also discussed before how Sheppard and McKay both think they are unlovable but for different reasons. Sheppard thinks that his love gets people killed and McKay thinks that he can never do enough to earn love. They both had unhappy childhoods but in different ways. These injuries also cause them to need different things; Sheppard is desperately looking for someone that won't leave him and McKay needs someone that accepts him unconditionally. Often, we fall in love to fill in some empty space within us, we fall in love because we lack something and are convinced that we can find this in the other person. Or, in well-adjusted relationships, I suppose you can talk about partners complementing each other. Being strong where the other is weak and allowing oneself to be weak where the other is strong.

But this is why these characters would have fallen in love so damn fast and so damn hard. McKay is methodical and hedonistic, Sheppard is focused and passionate. McKay would have wanted him to stay the night, to take his time taking him apart, to spend time with him, to waste his time on Sheppard and this, just being constantly and consistently there, would have made Sheppard feel less alone. And Sheppard would have had his hands on him the moment they were alone, would have wanted to have him desperately and immediately, and would not have hesitated to let it show. And this, being desired just for being him and being there, would have made McKay feel wanted.

I don't know if you even can plan for this kind of dynamic. I also don't know how you could stop two characters like that form taking on a life of their own regardless of the original intention of the writers.

QUICK QUESTION regarding your beings made of stardust au, and I have no idea if we've been told this before BUT we know that sun, moon, eclipse and some others (lost to mukbang 20k special 💔) went on a space ship as a crew. But how common is it for these crews to exist? Do they serve some kind of cooperation or company or do they just fuck around independently for the shits and giggles until eclipse decided hmmm do you ever wonder what you taste like?

Eclipse and his crew work for the medical industry with a corporation that funds them! They gather resources that can be used as medicine! Most stardust! It's considered dangerous work so it's not too common (which means they get paid pretty handsomely) but there are other jobs that involve space travel that are a lot safer so space ship crews are very common. It's the work that's not so common. There are independent crews that are self employed but it's a lot of work! Have to find yourself, find your own employees, advertise yourself blah blah blah eclipse wanted to be self employed but because he's under watch he has to go through systems and all that. Idk if I explained that well djsjjs

I don't think I ever posted this info for sun and moon? They finished pilot school (they met there) then went their separate ways! They worked for a few years before either being laid off or fired! Eclipse and his crew started making a lot of money and wanted to upgrade to a bigger ship! The ship needed two pilots and since eclipse was their original pilot, he planned on only hiring one more. But he interviewed sun and moon (separately. They didn't know they were both going for the same job) and saw how much they could bring to the team so he hired both to be the pilots! He also chose them because he could tell they would get along really well! (He can evaluate people very well! It's one of his abilities!)

Ok, let me explain why eclipse is under watch djskjdjs when he was younger, he showed signs of being different. He was extremely intelligent but had an interest in a lot of morbid stuff. He was also very withdrawn from society and lacked the sentimentality that their species normally have. No big deal though! Their society has systems to make those like him comfortable! He was taught empathy and communication skills. He was told what was socially acceptable and what wasn't. For a long time, up until a few months before the incident with his crew, he was fine living the way he was. "under watch" really just means that he goes to therapy and checks in every so often. Eventually, he stops going and stops checking in. He lets his mind wander and he begins to let himself live by his own standards. Eventually, this leads to insecurities and paranoia. He loves his crew very much. They are his family. Soon, he starts to believe that the only way to keep them safe is to cannibalize them. He sees it as containing them within himself, so by keeping himself safe, he keeps his crew safe.

TADC Jax Cosplay Process and Con Experience !

Hello !! Thought I'd post a little journal/process thing for a Jax cosplay I've done recently! I wouldn't call this a step-by-step tutorial as many of this was trial and error, along with much improvisation (I also didnt plan on doing this so there are few actual process images haha). This was a lot of fun and I hope someone can get something out of this !

MAKING THE OVERALLS

So as this was my first time sewing anything, a couple blunders were made. First I definitely shoulda bought this fabric a metre longer than i did. As a result after cutting it in half to create the two sides, I realised it was gonna be way too short going up the chest. So after sewing the two sides together I ended up with some oversized clown pants, that also happened to be super skinny in the legs as I may have eyballed cutting the inseam lol. Drop crotch realness was in full effect.

I followed this tutorial on how to make the base of my overalls, her very "eh, let's go for it" attitude was massively helpful in making this first sewing attempt less daunting

So...with limited fabric and with no immediate desire to buy another metre from Hobbycraft, I knew there was only one thing to do...

And that was slapping some leftover scrap on top lol. After that all I had to do was sew the straps on both sides and I had some (just about) wearable, non-adjustable overalls ! The colour is different as I had dyed it in Rit Dyemore super pink after sewing.

Now because I was adding this extra scrap on top after sewing the base, I wasnt able to do flat measurements to see if this scrap would actually go all the way around. Rather than taking more time to properly pin the two parts together and getting a proper look. My impatient brain said %$!# no and just pinned parts of it as i sewed, making it less finicky, but not realising that the scrap was too short. Luckily, pulling that empty space together and sewing it resulted in a fit that was almost perfect for my body, as i wanted it to be form fitting anyway. So remember kids, being impatient works out every time :)

The last details I had to do (other than hot glueing some yellow foam buttons to the straps) was add the chest patch and inside leg sleeves at the bottom. Using the original colour fabric was perfect for these two parts (I swear it looks pinker irl). For the chest patch I just folded some scrap together and top stiched around the edges, leaving the top edge open as convenient phone/card storage for Con. I didn't trust myself to not bind the back and front of the overalls together while sewing it on, so I just used hot glue and slapped in on there. The leg sleeves were even easier, sewing some more scrap around then binding the exposed edges with hot glue.

MAKING THE HEAD

So I had no idea how the head was gonna turn out, my only cosplay head experience prior was my first attempt at Jax last October of which I used painted foam card. Minecraft lookin ass

I knew going in that I wanted to do it fursuit head style, starting with a foam bucket helmet and hot glueing extra foam to the sides to create the skeleton of the head. Goated foam head tutorial by Skyehigh Studios was used for this

Attaching some half moon foam cut outs to each side of the head, doubling them up for stronger support, then adding some shorter half moons next to each eye hole, I was able to get the oval shape that jax has going on.

I measured around the head between the two half moon cuts on each side, then hot glued two pieces of fleece fabric on the front and back. For UK peeps I'd reccommend poundfabrics.co.uk, really affordable and arrived super quick, which was good since i left buying the fleece about a week before con (oops)

Now here's where I probably shoulda done more pre-measurements and sewed the top part of the fleece on with the side parts, so I could simply slip the thing on the foam skeleton like a beanie. Well, caveman brain got the better of me and just hot glued the underside of the fleece parts together. It was uneven, several holes remained and I burned my fingers, but gosh darn was that there three fleece patches glued together on them there.

Finally, at 2am the night before con I added the ears. I was initially concerned as I had underestimated how the weight of the foam would react to flopping around on the head, which made for some vry droopy ears. To make em more straight, but still keep the flop, I stuck some large cocktail sticks I had lying around about half way up the ears. This still allowed for flop behaviour, but stayed mostly upright while wearing them. After wrapping the fleece around and hotglueing them down in two gaps I had made, the head was officially done !

MAKING THE TOP

For my first time making a top, I followed this Youtube tutorial that went the most simple route I could find, taking one of my long sleeve tops, leaving about 1 cm seam allowance and cutting out two parts each for the top and sleeves.

So, as I was still getting used to using a sewing machine, I had managed to jam the needle multiple times when sewing together the base of the top, ruining almost all the spare needles I had. Upon viewing a tutorial on how not to jam your machine, I realised I had been doing the first three points she made, consistently lol. In the moment and since it was the last day, I didnt want to take risks and simply hotglued that bad boy down.

CON EXPERIENCE

So embarking to the first day of MCM London I immediately realised how awkward the overalls were gonna be to wear, I had to wear them as high and tight as i could otherwise it was gonna look like I had comically short legs. This meant that the thigh area was gonna be fairly uncomfortable when moving and would have to take the straps off and shift everything down if I wanted to sit. Aaaaaand about an hour into the first day, the enevitable rip occurred

Thankfully the rip was probably in the most inconspictuous place possible so i didn't really care lol. But any other fears of more rips, or the ears giving out in the wind were nonexistent with the great time I had meeting people. A big highlight was the very first person who came up to me who was actively looking for digital circus cosplays and HAD CUSTOM POKEMON CARDS THEY WERE GIVING OUT TO THEM.

So cute, made my day T_T, shoutouts to milskellyfox for the card. So yeah met a ton of cool people and everything held together for the whole 3 days, including the ears which I was most spooked about lol. Can't wait to start work on the next costumes for October's Comic-Con!

Quick update + A little treat!

Hello! I won't be very active during July because of ArtFight and a few illustrations i have planned (on top of my job, send help), so to make up for the upcoming lack of content, here's some insight on how i animate my Twst Chibis :)

(shoutout to the person who sent an ask about this topic! idk if i misclicked or if you took it down yourself, but it made me really happy to be asked and i spent 4 hours writing this as an answer, so i'm posting anyway lol)

I'll be taking Mafuyu as the exemple here, because he's the most complete one i made so far.

Firstly, here's some WIPs i saved showing off his faces and hair bones

Basically i went ahead and made an entire rig for him, since i know i'm eventually going to come back and make him more reactions and outfits. I started from scratch so it took a while, but at least now i have a nice base ready to go!

The original sketch was made on CSP, then the model itself and animation were made on Toon Boom because i haven't learned to use Live 2D yet.

Great thing about that is that it ended up being fully vectorized, which is always a plus if i ever need to resize him.

Here's a zoom (or huh, as close up in as my screen will allow) on all the elements, and their hierarchy. From the left are the elements that show up on top of everything (pearls, hair, head & face), to the ones that are behind everything on the right (cardigan back, braid, shadow):

It's kinda tricky to describe but all elements have their individual pegs (the green bits), which then get linked up additionally and in groups, so for example if i start selecting from the hand and go up, it goes:

Hand -> Hand + Forearm -> Hand + Forearm + Upper arm -> Both Arms + Torso + Head + Hair -> Upper Body + Pelvis + Both Legs

Once the model was done it was onto animating!

No secrets here, i really just tried my best to match the rhythm of how the in-game models move, what movements came back regularly etc... So typically: the heads often bop up and down in a specific way when they laugh or look up, the entire body stretches slightly when they jump or get startled, things like that.

I keep thinking that technically i shouldn't have animated the bangs because the in-game models have pretty limited hair animations, but hhh it felt too important to skip for Mafuyu (and mostly i was just having fun lol).

Just for fun, here's what most of my timeline looks like for the idle animation:

I'm confident that the og animations are fully tweened, so i did that too. But ofc with some adjustments to the timing so it doesn't look stiff. Since everything is on ones I didn't have the patience to go back and modify frames by hand lol.

It was especially tricky to figure out how to make the elbows look good, because of the pattern on his cardigan. I had to redraw the arms like 4 times to have them work in all positions. I spent many minutes looking at in-game models that had checkered sleeves (White Rabbit Deuce ended up being my main reference) to analyse how they made theirs work. I could've bothered making a clipping texture that I could warp to match the movement of the arm but,,, that probably would've killed my motivation entirely, i was determined to make this look good, but not THAT much lmao

The bangs, braid and cardigan were the only elements that i animated with bones and warps, for everything else i just used basic pegs to rotate and stretch the limbs

After that i just threw a Ramshackle themed bg behind him and gifed him up, and Voilà!

Random/fun facts, because why not:

The shoes took me 4 hours to make, because im really not used to drawing with vector tools, all those details made it hell lol

His proportions are mostly based off of Ruggie's model :)

I think that about covers it! I tried going into details without being boring, so hopefully it's still understandable, and maybe even interesting for curious folks 🤞

2 weeks later

If you have told 17 year old me that Ranboo and I were dating, I would have probably passed out. I've had a crush on him since we first met on the Dream SMP, and the fact that we're actually dating blows my mind.

I was chilling at Ran's house on his bed, scrolling through my phone as Ran worked on some writing for his horror series, Generation Loss on his desk. I peaked up from the edge of the bed and saw his back of his head and a slight few of his fingers typing on a Word document.

"You know, you better add me in the "Thank you" in the credits. We can tease the viewers and make them wonder who the hell I am! They're gonna go crazy when we tell them." I joked, putting my phone away in my pocket.

Ran turned his gaming chair around to face me and fixed his hair. I could see his chest moving up and down slowly from his breathing. "Speaking of telling." he paused. "I want to tell our friends about us. We're going to meet them later today, and I don't want to hide it anymore. I don't want to have to hold your hand under the table or wait until we're in private to kiss you. If you don't want to just yet, that's totally fine. We can take it in small steps, whatever you wan-"

I cut off his words. "Darling, I would love that!" I said, getting up to hug him. He sighed in relief and hugged me back, squeezing me tighter. "I do have an idea how we can tell them." I said, smiling, sitting on the floor next to him.

Ran perked his head up. "What if we don't tell them anything directly, but rather show it using actions? We try to make it obvious at the same time as well."

"Oh! Like we could hold hands in front of everyone very clearly and just wait for someone to react!" Ran smiled.

I smiled back at them. "That actually could be perfect."

4 hours later

Ranboo and I walked to the Brighton pier sign, and saw no one was there. We decided to take a quick photo to post on our socials to provide some "clout" for us. Ran grabbed his mask out of his pocket and put it on, and posed for the picture. As I was editing, we saw Tommy, Jack, and Niki start walking over to us.

I looked over to Ran and mouthed, "You ready?". He nodded and smiled at me.

We both walked over to them, not holding hands just yet. I ran over to Niki and gave her a hug. We all greeted everyone and I went over to Ran and grabbed his shoulder. Before we started dating, Ran would have been an absolute stuttering and blushing mess. Now, he's 100% more calm since we're together.

I looked over to take a quick peek at Jack's and Niki's face, and they both shared looks with each other. Tommy didn't even notice from his amount of energy. I giggled quietly into Ran's shoulder.

We were walking towards the arcade and I stopped to look up and Ran. I winked and said, "Love, can I have my wallet please?" I smiled at him.

Ran nodded and grabbed my wallet out of his pocket and gave it to me, smirking as he could see Jack and Niki shocked, even Tommy just standing there awkwardly.

Jack leaned over to Niki and spoke quietly to her, even though we could still hear them talking. "What the fuck?" he laughed.

We walked around the pier some more, and then went to the sea side to hang out for a bit. We walked down to the rocky area, and placed down our things on the log before sitting down. Ran was about to sit down on the log. This was the final step of our "plan" we had created earlier that day.

I pulled out my wallet and phone from my front pocket. "I'm going to buy water for myself, does anyone else want anything?" Jack, Tommy and Niki all shook their heads no.

Ran spoke up. "Can I have a water bottle as well?"

I nodded and went over to him and kissed him quickly on the lips.

I quickly saw Tommy and Jack stop in their tracks and stare at us.

Jack sputtered. "W-wha-what?"

Tommy yelled. "Why didn't you tell us, you bitch?!"

Niki just smiled.

Ran and I looked at each other and started laughing.

"Oops! Guess it's out now!" I said, sarcastically.

Gosh, I loved this man.

Posted this on Twitter, but kinda wanna post a longer more detailed version here. Might at some point write up other theories and readings for YBG on here too, but we will see~

Long ramble on a theory I have had for a while (2021-22ish)

Your girlfriend game (abbreviated to just YGG from this point on) is actually going to take place before YBG. Twist will be TK was the Y/N of that game. Perhaps canon ending being they got out by divesting themselves of you the player & running away to where they work now. (kinda hammers home that you the player are one of the antagonists of the story to have an ending where they do that too. Like YBG having the hints and YGG spelling it out for you in case you missed it).

TK says at one point they know first hand what it's like dealing with creeps & seem to have move to a dead end job/bad neighbourhood despite having a loving & supporting family. Were they running away from someone? (Sarah?) Plus they pick up on Peter real quick. Could that be from having a very similar experience?

Other possible twist. Peter has a cameo in YGG. Real brief though. We're talking shows up at Sarahs home uninvited to get something. Maybe they have an argument that you can vaguely overhear but at first you can't even see him. Then she brings him in to get the thing. He sees you, all out gawks for a bit saying very little and she kicks him out again.

Basically he see TK/Y/N aka YOU, so he actually has the first feeling of falling in love for the very first time ever. Something he previously didn't think he was ever going to experience. (but he doesn't recognise what that is as never had it). And him finding you miles away was him trying to track down TK/original Y/N sometime after the events of YGG once he realises what it was.

But by the time he caught up TK was already divested from YOU the player & was by rights their own person, so he ended up finding the new Y/N instead. (all planned by the creator of course since they like to see themselves as an evil mastermind) He never connects the dots neither does TK as they would both look very different by this point/first time they meet it was brief.

The majority of the game, perhaps even most endings you wouldn't know it's TK. Maybe the Peter cameo could even be in some routes but it would be a great way to tie the games if YGG ever gets made lol.

I just think it would be an explanation as to why TK seems a bit different than the other 3? + them dying the hair green as a way to customise themselves in a way is a cool thing. Like making themselves their own person. Since Y/N is like a blank template. TK also shares somethings in common with Y/N. Being none binary, having or had to deal with a creep.

Plus, by different than the other 3 I mean they are the only one that hasn't been written to do anything untoward towards Y/N (lol wording). If anything they can ONLY be helpful. Don't really need to say anything about Peter but the other 2 aren't exactly innocent. Spoilers and these are things that the creator could change or go back on but Don has apparently been taking photos of Y/N and being creepy with them. Plus Lucy's sex scene could be read as just non con or dubcon. When you are very vulnerable she gets you drunk/high and then the next minute is on you when you don't actually have the option to consent. TK doesn't get a single hint that their inclined to do anything creepy toward you. They instead go out of their way to assist, kinda like they've been through it before and want to lessen the burden for you.

I feel like it's important to note that all 4 of them know they are in a game. Below image for evidence and to be honest I feel like I could post a whole discussion about the below too. Worth noting that my read of it is the 4 know they are in a game but Peter is the only one that doesn't reset ever and is therefore basically tortured by the game and may have even changed the game in small ways.

I think the games evolved and changed overtime, which is natural for any game in development. And while I believe YBG was more fully imagined first, I can see as it was becoming a more solid concept that YGG would get built up too. Giving the other 3 sentience opens it up to the idea that they could get up to shit too. So, the idea that TK was a Y/N that kinda said fuck this and bounced and made a place for themselves in this weird fake world isn't all that crazy.

Also cool take on self aware AI being like no fuck this narrative but then getting condemned in a different way because these are horror games after all.

Example of TK as a Y/N that I drew in 2022 when I first put down my thoughts on this being a possibility to show the vision lol. They would work well colour scheme wise as they could very easily use the opposite colours while maintaining a bland enough base for you to project your character on to. Not that Y/N has a model in game, only ever art outside of the game, but you get what I mean lol.

I like them having their beanie instead of the cap! Plus them keeping it for a bunch of possible reasons. Remind them where they came from, or as a comfort thing. And the glasses work well in place of eyes and having th Y/N wording on them while still mixing up the design so that there is a definite divide between the two games and the Y/N despite being a vessel for the player still feels like their own character.

I also wonder if the candle tattoo is a hint to them having been a Y/N?

Side note lol: Worth noting TK didn't always have freckles & still doesn't in game but I like to think of them & the tattoo as ways in which they have made themselves their own person. Same with the piercings and green hair. I can't be sure but I think the candle came a fair bit after too, as the creator was ironing out their own stories.

Tattoos can have meanings and a quick google search of a candle tattoo (which another side note, since they have no other visible tattoos and a candle is so fucking specific I feel like it HAS to mean something to the creator to give them it in the first place)

Possible meanings found when googling:

More than the sum of it's parts. Candles are just wax and wick and yet they are capable of producing light etc. In my reading TK gave themselves this as a reminder that they are more than just a Y/N, more than an empty vessel for the player. They have made themselves a person with just a little light (power) from their own actions.

A light in the darkness. Something people might get that have dealt with bad times in their life, they have managed to get through and found the light for example. Links in with something bad happening to them before the game as discussed earlier. Something that keeps them going. It being on their back does also show that they are literally leaving it behind them.

Or admittedly, it could solely be to represent that they are the light for the player. Since they are always so helpful etc lol.

I just think if this was a thing it would be a neat twist that would better connect the games while also adding to the horror of it all.

Ranger Pets

I have been wanting to make a post about the different ranger pets I liked from GW1, since there have been a couple thought here and there I have had while interacting with GW2 pets. There are more than a couple homages to the skills, locations, and designs of pets in GW2 in relation to pets from the first game.

Ranger was my main for most PvE content in Gw1, and I think I ran with the original phoenix the most out of any pets there were available at the time. It had a simplicity to its design that I really liked, and I loved how it would screech as it flew around and attacked. I do really like how it got a little makeover though. Those colors are gorgeous! Ever since I first saw the redesign for them in GW2, I have thought about making a character centered around this colorful palette. I tried some stuff out but didn't care for it much. I think it would be super cool if they did more reintroductions of pets like this because it feels like a great opportunity that they've already done a couple times in Cantha.

They don't even have to have originally been pets either, because the wallows that you can tame as pets now were originally just some bumpy guys rolling around in the maps between Echovald and the Jade Sea. Here's them side-by-side, with the older one on the left:

Definitely had some work done and is very much cuter, but a part of me wishes I could have this cute wallow as a pet while still having the chubby necromantic rat that looks like a pug a bit to me hahaha.

I also think it would be cool if there were achievements to get some pets. I love how they do quests in this game and enjoyed a lot of the little prerequisites to charming animals, because it made it feel more immersive. Not to knock on the convenience of "press F to love forever <3", but I'm a lore fiend. This alternate, fancier version of the phoenix from GW1 that I posted above could only be obtained after doing the final mission in the campaign in Cantha where you would face off against Shiro Tagachi:

Do I hear breathtaking? The feathers render in such a way that they are almost transparent like silk and like I said already-- breathtaking. There was also a popular series of sidequests and collections in which you could acquire a rare moa bird egg that would hatch into this:

(I would kill for a minipet anet pls) But you would take care of the little guy through a series of quests and over time they would become this rare full-grown moa that you could charm. There is a GW2 version available through the Hall of Monuments for veteran players, and both are pictured below. Gw1, and GW2 respectively.

I like the sleek black look more personally. But I love that they kept his hot topic look because we deserve it.

But as far as quests go, there was a fun one available to people in Ascalon after the searing where they would track down the remaining members of a species and found a small sanctuary to protect them moving forward. They were called Melandru's Stalkers and looked like this:

Kitty <3 And it has been a long time, so I'm not sure if the jungle stalkers pictured just below here are supposed to be their successors or not. but I always thought it would be a very sweet collection to have in Grothmar Valley or maybe even the Secluded Glen in the Fields of Ruin. Most of all, though, I really missed this map called the Zaishen Menagerie, where you could go and visit all of the pets that you've charmed before in these curated little biomes across a small map. It was a convenient place to go on new ranger characters to tame harder-to-get pets, as well as my favorite place in the game that I would just hang out with my friends at.

I don't know what directions they will go moving forward with pets, but I have enjoyed all of what has been added so far, and you KNOW I'm making plans to snag those new Wizard's Tower pets as. we. speak! The doorbell rang and you answered without second thoughts. Caught up as you were in the practice of your performance knowing you weren't expecting any visits, you would have never imagined to find your boyfriend waiting at the other side.

Andy surprised you as much as the situation he stumbled on surprised him. There was 80 funky music playing before you opened the door for him and he found you dressed in a strange outfit that screamed 80's.

A thight black crop top with one of the short sleeves falling at the side of your arm and three fluorescent roses in the chest combined with a bright pink Madonna - like short riffled skirt. It suited you wonderfully, but you looked to him like a very beautifull time traveller.

" Am I interrupting something? I'm sorry. I know I should have called, but before that even occured to me I was already on the way. "

You gave him a peck on the lips and invited him to sit on your couch.

" How can i blame you for missing me? I miss you all the time. I only wish you wouldn't have to see this, but I'm going to change real quick."

" You look amazing… Mind to explain? All of this is odd enough to make me curious, but I am not complaining. "

You wished you could just change clothes and ignore the topic because you were almost sure it was a conversation he wouldn't want to have.

" My goddaughter's birthday it's coming up and i am preparing for my role in the party. I know that sort of stuff is triggering for you, so we can skip it and that would be perfectly fine. "

He knew about her, the little girl was your best friend's daughter. A year after you both started dating the father abandoned the family and since then you have been more present than ever in the kid's life to cover up for the struggling mother in all the things surpassing her limitations. It almost made him consider leaving you despite you both were already so in love. He was worried for the kid and for you, fearing Chucky would get in the middle and ruin your lives. It wasn't easy for him to stay calm, since you pretty much had become to that kid what Aunt Maggie was once for him.

Still, he was so proud of you because you were damn awesome in that role.

" I don't mind hearing if you want to tell me. I promise I will let you know if it's getting uncomfortable for me."

" Well, she loves Barbie. Some time ago i gave her all my old Barbies and turns out my old favorite is also hers. I'm already giving her a brand new Barbie as a gift, but that's not the end of it. I have been preparing myself for months because i'm going to act as Barbie for her and her little friends at the party. "

You stood up in front of him, model posing pridefully.

" I'm Dance Club Barbie: hottest tv dancer coming with her own cassette of original songs. " You introduced yourself like if you were a doll in a commercial. " The party is going to have a mix of themes between Barbie and Stranger Things, so i'm going to lead the entertainment as the best dancer Barbie of the 80's. I recreated the outfit all by myself. "

He was a bit weirded, but it was more of himself than of you in particular. You were ríght assuming it was the kind of thing he would hate, but he didn't seem to loathe it on you.

" I can't argue with a pretty doll. What are you going to do? Dance, then fight demogorgons with a baseball bat? "

It made you chuckle, but that was a good sign.

" For the start, i'm practicing the children friendly dance routines for the doll's songs." You are explained ríght away. " I have been driving my coworkers insane singing the catchy Paula Abdul main song for the Barbie dance."

You sang a tiny bit of the " Doin the Barbie" song just to make fun of yourself and began to chuckle inmediately afterwards.

" I really wanna do the Barbie, you are insanely attractive to me ríght now. " He mocked you in a flirty tone. " Did you stop to think you are going to save a child's birthday as the favorite toy? Which is also your old favorite toy? That's so attractive of you. "

You giggled, genuinely surprised of his reaction.

" Wanna know a fun fact?" You wondered out loud, caressing his cheek . " Dance Club Barbie was one of the top selling dolls of 1989, so tecnically i'm also a market rival of the Good Guy. After the controversy ruined him I ended up kicking that ginger bastard's ass on sales."

He squeezed his hand tighter against the front side of his thight.

" Don't make it worse. I feel weird and horrible, you are just trying to bring joy to that girl as this sweet Barbie who is going to cheer the party. "

He stopped himself for an instant as a sudden realization made him spill an awkward ask.

" … Are you going to keep the costume afterwards?"

It was nothing like what you could have possibly expected from him.

" ANDY!" You called him out. " Since when are you into Barbies?"

" I don't like Barbies, I like you as one. There is a difference. "

You collapsed on the couch ríght beside him.

" For now the onlyone you are going to get is Kissing Barbie, banned from the market because kisses are her central talent. " You teased him, caressing his cheeks. " You could be Shaving Fun Ken, but without the shaving. I love this super hot beard. "

The rehearsal was completely postponed. Andy didn't get the banned dolls couple joke, but you were filling him with kisses anyways.

story planning:

while we've gotten plenty of yeonjun in prince outfits over the years, the main inspiration for this fic is yeonjun's opening outfit in act: sweet mirage! i saw that and was like "oh man he would be SO DASHING as a prince 😍" and just went from there

if you've been here from the start, you might know that i didn't originally plan make a series! i just word-vomited the first chapter (well, what became the first chapter) directly into tumblr's post editor because the thought of prince!yeonjun wouldn't leave me alone, especially after seeing a few other prince/commoner and prince/servant fics floating around lol. chapter 1 is also the only chapter made using tumblr's legacy editor rather than their new one (which is also why the cover pics are one big edited photo and not 3 separate photos, i couldn't figure out how to get 3 photos to line up in the legacy editor).

i honestly did not expect people to read chapter 1 but they did!! and they liked the idea!! plus even after writing chapter 1 i STILL couldn't get the idea out of my head so i decided to write it as a full story. i've written plenty of oneshots before under my (non-kpop) ao3 account, but this is my first multichapter series! so i opened google docs and made a quick outline of the story's main events.

the original outline for foec had 6 chapters + 2 endings, but as i wrote the story, i realized that more detail and scenes were needed than what i initially outlined! chapters 3 and 4 (ball preparations + the ball / gazebo dance scene) were supposed to be one chapter. chapters 5 and 6 (y/n hanging out with the chois + getting caught + punishment + intro of arranged marriage) were also supposed to be one chapter. chapters 7-9 (end of friendship, reconciling with soogyu, y/n & beomgyu talk) were also supposed to be one chapter!

i actually started writing the bad ending first before the good ending -- my reasoning was that if i were the reader, i would want to save the good ending for last so that i could end the series on a positive note. i was very surprised when people voted for the good ending first in the poll LMAO also as far as i'm concerned, both endings are canon in a "branching timeline" kind of way. they are both the real ending! i do have a soft spot for the good ending but also i love angst too much to not write a bad ending haha.

honestly most of the story beats from my original outline made it into the final fic! the biggest change has to do with queen hwayoung's and princess ajin's roles in the story (more on that below).

character notes:

when i was first brainstorming i really wanted to include both taehyun and hueningkai in the story as well, but i struggle with writing ensemble casts and choi line + y/n (+ the supporting characters in the castle) were already enough for me to handle. soobin and beomgyu were the easiest for me to incorporate into the story since they have the same last name and i could go "oh in this universe they're part of the same royal house hence the same last name" HAHA. i do imagine that the house of choi princes are also friends with tyunning (kai does get alluded to in chapter 9), but they're off doing their own adventures.

some of little moments in the fic were inspired by actual things txt have done in variety shows! yeonjun, y/n, soobin, and beomgyu playing cards in chapter 5 is based off to do ep. 53 where they also play cards. soogyu playing badminton in chapter 8 is inspired by gbgb era idol human theater where they played a little badminton by the pool. and there are a lot more small character quirks that are inspired by gifs or fancams i've seen of them haha.

queen hwayoung and princess ajin were originally not supposed to be part of the story! my original idea was the have the arranged marriage subplot be heard secondhand by through advisers so that it feels like an invisible force pulling yeonjun away from y/n. but i needed to make the threat of the arranged marriage stronger and ended up writing the scene with queen hwayoung in it for chapter 6.

princess ajin especially was a late addition -- originally she was never supposed to appear at all, never visiting the castle and only speaking through her mom / royal advisors, so there was that threat of yeonjun being married off to someone he's never even met. but after looking through the feedback of chapter 6 i realized that i kinda-sorta accidentally made setup for her oops. people were wondering what she'd be like, and it would feel too anticlimactic to never have her appear in the story, so i wrote her in. which i don't regret because i did enjoy writing her big scene in chapter 10!

speaking of which: a friend of mine asked what happens to princess ajin, and honestly i wanted to give her proper closure too! but i couldn't find a way to fit it into the story in a way that felt natural. if you ask me though, she gains some level of political independence from her mom (represented by her visiting the castle in the good ending). she still marries for political reasons, to a prince or nobleman who is also in it for the politics, and at first they treat their marriage as a business partnership. eventually they grow close and form a devoted "i'd do anything for you" bond -- not necessarily romantic in nature, but caring in its own way. (i'm describing a queerplatonic relationship basically)

tbh i don't have the energy to write another multichapter right now, but i would love to see spinoff fics for soobin and beomgyu or even taehyun and kai as princes in their own kingdoms! so if you're reading this and you want to do it, you have my blessing <3

flower notes:

while some chapter titles were planned around a specific flower representing the events & progression of the story, others were not (because of the chapter splits i talked about earlier) and i just chose whatever flower was in it lol. the planned chapter title flowers are: yellow roses (ch2), pink roses (ch4), sunflowers (ch5), striped carnations (ch7) , purple hyacinths (ch9), red roses (ch10), daffodils (GE), and white lilies (BE). the unplanned title flowers are: irises (ch1), lilies of the valley (ch3), red and purple zinnias (ch6), sweet peas (ch8).

i mostly used this website as a reference for the language of flowers, BUT i also double check with one or two other websites to make sure i'm getting an established flower meaning and not something made up! when i started fic planning i made a list of flowers with meanings that fit the main story beats and character progressions, then picked the ones with the most established meanings (i.e. supported by multiple "language of flowers" websites) and/or the ones that were appropriate for the growing season.

even though i wrote a disclaimer not to pay attention to botanical accuracy re: seasonal flowering times, i originally envisioned the fic to take place over the spring. then when it got longer, i imagined it taking place over spring and summer, so i tried (keyword: tried) to choose seasonally appropriate flowers or flowers that bloom year-round. this is hard for me because i live in a tropical country. i have never seen a lot of these flowers in person because they don't grow in the climate here, and i have no idea what a four-season year feels like. so i decided not to put time-of-year markers in the fic and leave the season ambiguous, and added that disclaimer about the flowers' accuracy.

an example of this: chapter 9 is named after purple hyacinths. i first decided on this back when the story was only supposed to take place during the spring, since hyacinths are a spring flower. i considered naming it after hydrangeas because they mean something like "thank you for understanding" (i.e. y/n going "thank you for understanding what a hard position i'm in" to yeonjun), and also because they're one of my favorite flowers. but i wasn't sure about their seasonal appropriateness since some sources said that they bloom during early summer so i changed it to hyacinths. BUT THEN the fic got long and i started imagining that the later chapters take place in the summer SO the hyacinths ended up being seasonally inappropriate after all! and hydrangeas would have been more appropriate! especially since txt literally has a song called hydrangea love out aarghhh noooo but anyway it is what it is

other flowers that didn't make the cut + their meanings: sweet william (gallantry), alstroemeria (friendship or devotion), freesia (friendship, thoughtfulness), white tulips (forgiveness, consideration, respect), thyme (courage, strength)

other notes:

the key lime pie in chapter 6 is based on a real pie that i ate at my friend's house when i visited her there and i thought it was the most delicious thing i have ever eaten. in the original draft it was a lemon tart!

i wanted to keep this series strictly sfw, but i did consider making both the good and bad endings have suggestive, fade-to-black scenes. for the good ending, the suggestive part would have involved y/n in yeonjun's room the night after their speech / before waking up together. for the bad ending, it would have happened when yeonjun visits y/n's quarters. i didn't write them bc i... am not good with anything suggestive or nsfw klsadjfklasjd

She's my watsonian/in-universe explanation to where the rest of the arcana shadows are

Her persona variant is Akhlys; heavily based off Riordan's interpretation of her, meaning she can control poison

Her appearances changes a lot more than her brother's since the collective idea of suffering/misery changes over the ages while death stays stagnant (I've been considering making her look gyaru since that seems to be associated with japanese mean girl tropes)

Ena Kutsuki (Persona Series)

Initially, her name was Era, but I changed it somewhere down the line (did you know that the name 'Ena' has japanese origins too?)

Demigod of order; got a certain cup's magic handed to her after Striker's AI takeover attempt

Her bones are fucked up because of said magic (her spine can literally burst out of her back and turn into extra arms doc ock style)

She is being rizzed up by the goddess of misery and neither are aware they're in the slowburn plot and mutually believe they are friends (both of their friend groups can see how lovesick they are)

Something has occurred to me.

So if there's one thing people should know about me, it's that instead of taking notes in class, I like thinking about my interests and letting my brain take me places. And one of these places my brain took me today was "HEY! what if I sorted all of my friends into Twisted Wonderland Dorms?" and, of course, I decided to re-read/look up what the virtues that the different dorms embody were and I noticed something really interesting that I really didn't really think about before related to Savanaclaw and Pomefiore in particular...

Depending on where you're reading it (in game, translation, wiki, etc.), Savanaclaw will represent the spirit of the King of Beasts' Tenacity OR Persistent Spirit (or Indomitable Spirit) and Pomefiore will represent the spirit of the Beautiful Queen's Unrelenting (Persistent.) Efforts OR Tenacity (or Spirit of... Encouragement? This is just a pre-post addendum from a quick reread of the original JP text and a run of one or two unfamiliar words through everyone's favorite google translate [which is not great ik but bear with me])

Some screenshots from the fandom Wiki, the wiki.gg, and both the english and JP versions of the game (I did not. put translations on the images, but the 不屈の精神 in the one for Savanaclaw translated to "indomitable spirit" and 奮励の精神 came out to "spirit of encouragement". Please note that I am not an expert in speaking Japanese, I just happen to be learning it, so please feel free to correct me or provide suggestions if I am wrong).

This leads me to wonder: These two dorms embody basically the same virtue and yet are often kind of pitted as opposites from one another - Savanaclaw is the dorm full of jocks and muscleheads, whereas Pomefiore is the preppy fashion dorm (simplified for my own sake). On top of this, we know that TWO of our three Pomefiore characters, namely Rook and Epel, have some kind of relation to Savanaclaw, with Rook having transferred to Pomefiore from Savanaclaw in his first year after meeting Vil, and Epel having a strong desire to have been placed in Savanaclaw instead of Pomefiore.

It could be argued that Jack and Vil also have a connection to the other dorm, since they've at least been acquainted since childhood, but I don't think it ties into their character narratives nearly as much as Rook's and Epel's connections do, so I'm not really worried about them right now.

But this all kind of brings me to my point - With how both dorms are kind of shown as complete opposites despite having the same virtue, what exactly is the key differnce? My personal theory so far (I plan on rereading Books 2, 5, and parts of the prologue, 1, and 6, as well as related vignettes, so I could very well be wrong. Again, I'm writing this and thinking about this in a class rn instead of taking notes.) is that the main difference in how each dorm views power to be used TOWARDS meeting their goals. To rephrase: What is the main method by which one obtains the power to achieve their goals? With Savanaclaw, it's raw strength as power, whereas with Pomefiore, it's beauty and appearances as power.

It's probably stupidly obvious for me to say that because like it IS, but like. I still want to really get into that specific like. I dunno. Is that the ONLY key difference, though? Or are there other ways by which the members of these dorms embody their virtue that differ? Does this hold a deeper meaning for characters with those connections?

I'm basically rambling at this point, but like if anyone has some specific parts they'd like to point to as examples, I'll gladly take them! I love twst and just generally would like to be able to engage with it as a story on a deeper level. I already have a few vignettes in mind (like Epel's and Vil's ceremonial robes vignettes) for looking into, as well as the aforementioned points in the story.

OH MAN THE WAY THAT READING THIS OPENED MY THIRD EYE I -- ngl I had always thought someone else named him but it being Jogo specifically both makes so much sense, highlights their dynamic and is very true to Jogo's character and the way he thinks, especially since he seemed to be the most vocal about their ideals and held the concept of them having a name as a very important thing to showcase their humanity ( we see that reflected in Dagon who kinda just parroted them )

the fact hanami says to jogo that HE made mahito the leader makes me think jogo was before this little chucklefuck joined. so those ideals were given to hanami and dagon (and we see hanami even still processing them). i think jogo recognized mahito's potential and symbolism enough to step aside. which i also think is incredibly wise because mahito doesn't flourish under the orders of others. despite their bickering, i think they got one another really well.

jogo knew mahito could get them there in a way that went beyond what he could do. kind of in a way that geto said he wanted to create chaos beyond his own limitations. i think jogo recognized mahito could think beyond just a curse because he wasn't something from nature or experience, he was born from such a core aspects of humanity that he could think and learn to understand humans in a way the disaster curses could never truly.

giving up that control to mahito, even though mahito is... well, mahito, i think highlights jogo's ability to know that no matter how the young curse ends up going about it - no matter who lives or dies, that trust that mahito could wreck shit enough to flip the status quo on humans vs curses was there. because both jogo and mahito agreed that it didn't really matter if they died so long as the script got flipped how they wanted.

also just a fun thing to add in them getting one another... i really still like that in the subway, after mahito told jogo he was wrong, he also was quick to reassure him on what he meant. it just shows to me he knows when to push jogo's buttons but also when to be a little more mature. appealing to jogo's pride to correct his phrasing so he knows he solely disagreed on what it means to be a curse - not disagreeing with the overall plan on getting shit done.

why that is important to me when it comes to these two? it's just that it shows (imo) that mahito understands the value jogo has put into this. it's kind of just a reminder that even with the way mahito is, there's a reason jogo entrusted him the leadership of the chucklefucks. rephrasing what he meant upon seeing jogo getting irritated could be viewed as him stating his disagreement but reaffirming he's still onboard with the ride or die plan.

these disagreements they have, mahito annoying jogo often, i think just shows that they do possess a stronger bond than others think. because getting pissed off and ignoring someone is easy, but tolerating someone and rephrasing for them more-so shows effort towards another. and as curses, they have to actually like one another to some degree to make that effort.

so jogo naming mahito and why? yeah, the original post and this ramble session is why. xD

He's Not Heavy, He's Our Brother (final part)

Author's note: so, this mini fic has come to an end. Thank you so much anon's for the requests which started this all. I've had such a blast writing this, and I hope you've had a blast reading it!

I won't be posting for a couple more days, since I have some thing's planned (I'll be writing a separate post for that after this), and I don't wanna rush into finishing anything just yet. The Royal London Hospital...

Louis sighed miserably, glancing at the clock on the wall. He'd only been sitting alone for around ten minutes, but it had felt like hours since he got here. Once the ambulance pulled up outside, the paramedics were quick to get Niall inside and seen to, while a nurse had met Louis in the reception and guided him into a awaiting chair, talking softly to him. She left him alone soon enough, once she had made him have a drink of water and assured him she, or a doctor, would come find him with news later on.

When had everything gone so wrong?

Both he and Niall had seen, and dealt with, their fair share of drunken creeps, it came with the job, but never had one of those said creeps done anything like this. At least, not in their club. Not to one of them. He felt somewhat guilty. Being the oldest in the group of best friends came with a responsibility that he adopted onto himself. He promised he would protect them, keep them safe, look after them. So, why hadn't he managed that tonight?

They should've been back at home, safe and together, laughing at a scene in a random film they would've picked out to watch. They were lucky. Having your best friends living in the same building, being able to see them every single day, it was a blessing that Louis couldn't quite believe he managed to get. He thought everything was perfect.

Until tonight happened.

He knew, from hearing stories on the news, to researching all the different kinds of PTSD and trauma the victims dealt with afterwards, that Niall wouldn't be the same after this. Maybe not for a long time. Even though the creep didn't get as far as he was so obviously planning, that didn't stop the trauma. Niall was drugged against his will, forced to consume so much more alcohol mixed with what-the-fuck-ever else it was spiked with, and was stripped, beaten and so very nearly raped. Louis almost couldn't believe it.

Except, he did. Because he had seen it. With his very own eyes. He saw the man on top of his best friend, he saw the empty plastic bottle a few feet away, he saw the evidence of abuse. He knew, no matter what, he, nor the others, especially Niall, would ever forget this. And that was devastating. Heartbreaking. So utterly cruel that Louis didn't even know if there was a God or whatever, because if there was, why did these things happen?

He cried. For his best friend, his non-biological little brother. For Liam and Harry. For himself. For their futures that were once so bright, now uncertain and more than likely filled with dark days and recovery.

Louis. Just. Cried.

Until the doctor arrived. Looking up through blurred vision, Louis could make out the doctor in front of him. He wasn't sure how much time had passed. He wondered why Liam and Harry hadn't arrived yet. Surely they should've been here by now?

"How is he?" Asked a voice and, oh. Liam and Harry are here. When did they get here? Louis was so confused. He must've been properly out of it much longer than he thought. "Is he okay?" That was Liam.

The doctor smiled softly, taking a seat opposite the lads. "He'll be okay." He stated first and foremost. "We found a fair bit of GHB in Mr Horan's system, which would've been in the drink that he was forced to drink. We managed to flush it, and the alcohol, out and currently have him on an IV to rehydrate him. We're going to keep him sedated tonight, and he should wake up by tomorrow evening. He's been very lucky, lads. I know it doesn't seem like it right now, but we were unable to find any evidence of sexual penetration, so that is a positive."

Louis didn't realise he had been holding his breath until he gasped in relief as he heard those words. Although, deep down, he knew the creep hadn't gotten that far, it was the biggest relief hearing it coming from a doctor.

"I want to keep him in for a few days, just until I know for sure that the drug is completely flushed out. He'll probably be quite drowsy and disorientated for a couple days once he's come around, but in time, that will pass and he shouldn't have any physical side effects. Now, what I must talk to you boys about right now, is the next steps. When Mr Horan is awake, his mental state may not be very stable. I can arrange for one of our psychologists to come down and chat to him, but really, it'll be up to him to decide if he continues. Is there anybody at home with him?"

"N-no," Harry said, shakily, "He has his own flat, but, all three of us live in the same building. One of us could stay with him for a while?"

The doctor nodded. "That could work. I wouldn't recommend leaving him alone for a while. He'll need help with some things while he's recovering. I will talk to the psychology team and have one assigned to Mr Horan. In the meantime…would you boys like to see him?" The doctor smiled at the nods he received and stood up, allowing them a few seconds to follow suit and began leading them away to a room tucked in a corner, the windows shielded by blinds, to allow some privacy.

"I will be round in a couple hours to check up on him, but if you need me before, don't hesitate to press the buzzer on the wall. You can help yourselves to some water, tea and coffee from the nurses station just down the hall, there's also some buscuits and cakes should you fancy anything. There's some couches in there should any of you wish to catch some sleep too. As long as you lads keep the volume down, you're welcome to stay. I will see you all very soon."

With that, Liam, Louis and Harry were left alone, standing outside the door that seperated them from their best friend. With a shaky hand, Liam slowly pushed on the wood and one by one, each boy stepped into the room and fell into the chairs, once scattered around the room to now besides the bed, and got settled down for a long night.

Two months later…

It's been a tough two months for everyone. Especially Niall. The first three weeks he had been home, he'd have terrible nightmares, one's that would have him screaming and sobbing, waking Louis up, who had been the one to move in while he recovered, leaving him exhausted but unable to sleep again for that night. He hadn't left the house again until week four, and even then, he was an anxious mess. He had countless panic attacks. Each one seeming worse than the last. He hasn't been to work since. His managers, Frank and Tucker, have both been in contact with Louis, sending their love and thoughts. They said not to worry about work, they'd both have a job when, or if, they returned. Louis was so grateful.

Everyone was exhausted.

But, nobody was angry at Niall, even when the Irishman broke down and apologised profusely, begging them not to hate him or leave him alone, sobbing that he was to blame and they shouldn't have to put up with him, he's sorry but understands if they want to go. They would end up in a tight huddle together, after that. With not a single dry eye. All three telling him it was okay, they could never hate him, he's definitely not to blame, and they love him more than anything. It breaks their hearts to see him so weak, when he was once so strong.

Niall Horan used to be so full of life, filled with joy, doubled over with laughter at a corny, totally not funny knock knock joke that Harry would make up on the spot. He used to provide comfort and care whenever Liam got sad. He used to buddy up with Louis for pranks and practical jokes, basically crying with laughter when they were caught.

They knew, sometime, somewhere, somehow, they will see a glimpse of that Niall again. Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow. Maybe not in the next year. But, they would. Because they loved him. Because they would stick by him for the rest of time. Because they were brothers, by blood or not, they would never leave him. Niall will never be alone again. Because he had his best friends, his brothers, around him.

He will recover.

And, years later, when they were sat in the same club, which was now a quiet restaurant, with their old friends Frank and Tucker, enjoying a lovely meal together, they were asked how they got through it all with what must've been a heavy a burden on them all, they looked at each other with knowing grins and Louis answered, as confident as ever:

"He's not heavy, he's our brother."

Home (from Rites of Passage - rewrite of Novhen's origin, this segment is post canon divergence)

As the morning grogginess dissipated from Novhen's mind, awareness of his situation slowly trickled in in its place. He was in a frigid tent west of Highever, not within the familiar wooden walls of his family home. To his back was Tod, his fellow recruit, not Shianni or Soris or even Nesiara. And worst of all, he was a Warden. An elf with no place but the Deep Roads.

Novhen rubbed his eyes and rolled onto his back. This was his life now, and he had to learn to adjust. It was far too early for any respectable creature to be awake, but such was an expected consequence of residing in the company of humans.

There were voices outside the tent. Duncan and Riordan were already awake. They spoke in hushed tones but not so quietly that Novhen couldn't hear.

Today, they would finally conduct the Joining.

Novhen laid quietly for several more minutes, but they said nothing that would give away whatever secrets the Joining held. Finally, he went through the motions of getting up, making no attempt at stealth. The sooner this was done, the better.

Laugh (from Prisoner of Amaranthine - short rewrite of Nathaniel's recruitment)

Tabris leaned heavily on his cane. “Tell me. What would you do if I let you go?”

”If you let me go?” The very idea was ridiculous. “I... don't know. I only returned to Ferelden a month ago. My prospects here are all gone. If you let me go, I'll probably come back here. You might not catch me next time.”

He paused to consider the possibility. “You're really not making the best case for yourself. You know that, right?”

Nathaniel said, “I could lie if you’d prefer.”

“I wouldn’t hold it against you.”

There was a playful ring in his voice and the briefest, faintest smirk on his face as he said that. What exactly was his angle?

The elf kept his eyes fixed on him as he straightened his posture. "Your family name seems to mean quite a bit to you. Perhaps you could begin the work to redeem it?”

He scoffed, “You're right. I'll go join King Alistair's service immediately. He'd be certain to give a Howe another chance.” 

Tabris smiled and let out a small laugh, but it didn't reach his eyes. It gave little more insight to his thoughts than his previous expressions. It was a fake, diplomatic smile, and they both knew it.

“Can’t know ‘til you try,” he said.

Nathaniel glowered at him, “Have you reached your judgment, or do you plan to drag this torture out for the rest of the day?”

Bind (from A Crow's Word - a wip jumping off a post i made that gained some traction)

He hesitated. 

Zevran took advantage of his pause and tackled him onto the floor. He straddled Theron's hips and gently pressed another blade—where does he hide them all?—to his throat. From this angle, Theron could see Zevran's unmistakable, wide smirk perfectly.

"I believe I win this round, my dear Warden," he gloated.

Mindful of the knife, Theron replied, "Does that make it a draw or would you be up for another round?"

"I'll need to think it over first. Perhaps over dinner?"

Esmerelle interrupted, "You are being paid to kill the Warden-Commander, Crow, not court him!"

“Yes, yes, such a harsh taskmaster you are." He guided Theron’s chin up with the dagger. "Although, I must say, I am rather reluctant to kill such a handsome man."

Theron smirked, “You flatter me.”

“But unfortunately, our contract was binding, was it not?” she said impatiently. “Kill him.”

Sky (from The Day the Sky Broke - a quick series of snapshots taking place at the inciting incident of Inquisition)

The Warden-Commander of Ferelden was on an expedition far west of the known lands of Thedas. Even as far as his small party of Grey Wardens was from Vigil's Keep and the Frostback Mountains, they witnessed the tear being carved into the sky as the sun rose.

Anders nearly dropped his mug. "What in Andraste's twisted knickers is that?"

Over his drink, Warden-Commander Tabris answered wearily, "With any luck? Someone else's problem."
