Love the thought of Leo just casually being well traveled to absurd degrees. Like one day they’re facing their new Big Bad of the year and like, Draxum or whoever says that the key to their fight is located somewhere in, like, Latvia or some place, but no one knows where to start.

Then Leo’s like “oh I know a place” and when asked how the heck he could know of one it smash cuts to Leo falling through the ceiling of said place due to a portal mishap.

Also love the idea of Leo, being as accidentally (and then later, purposefully) well traveled as he is, sometimes taking his family on outings to different places all over, maybe to some new Yokai spots he found along the way.

In these places, Leo 100% lets his bros get scammed by tourist traps.

the way people seem to be purposefully misunderstanding the addition of two (2) scenes in which colin is having a threesome like. he’s traveled all around the world in order to find himself and maybe it worked but not to extent he’d hoped for. he comes back and then plays the part society expects of him - rakish rogue - because he thinks that will help him feel fulfilled. and in that sense, what could be more “manly” than getting with two women at once? juxtaposing that first scene with the second in ep 4, it’s so clear that we’re meant to understand the reasons why he goes there are fickle and not what he truly wants. that’s why he’s so desperate to go after penelope!!! when he understands what he values and what about him is truly worthy he immediately wants to go after her because after all he’s always valued her even when he couldn’t see it. he went everywhere else literally to find his meaning at home, literally - within himself and with the person he’s always been closest to. “he was at the brothel” is not the gotcha you think it is!!!

i guess they were too young back then and admitting your father did hurt you for selfish reasons was too much, they still wanted the approval from them or at least to know if the hurt they had to endure had a meaning at least

Like really, its not a conversation they would have within the first few years of being together its probably too raw but with time, when they can’t cope anymore who is better at understanding what it feels like and stand by their side than each other?

I honestly don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned gymnastics on tumblr before this Olympics, but I am an avid fan, and I think tumblr would get a kick out of hearing how I started following gymnastics:

I’m not sure how it got into my YouTube recommended, maybe because I’m a dancer and watched dance stuff and dance and gymnastics are kind of adjacent sports? That’s the only thing I can think of, because I had never watched gymnastics before.

It was an “Annie vs Whitney competition comparison” video- Annie (she now goes by Jules) Leblanc and Whitney Bjerken were two child gymnasts who were also YouTubers, Annie more than Whitney. If you’ve ever heard of the channel Bratayley, that’s Annie and her family. Interestingly, both of them have made music both while competing and after quitting- Whitney actually just put out an album in March that’s pretty good!

Anyway I’m getting off topic. These comparison videos were actually a kind of shitty thing that people did that took two children and pit them against each other, which nobody needed. I’m pretty sure they were both level 9 at the time, which is pretty good compared to non-gymnasts, but quite far from high level elite gymnasts. But even though their gymnastics was nowhere near the best out there, I was mesmerized by Annie’s bar routine. She had some release moves and it just looked like flying to me.

And that led to what was first an obsession and became an interest in gymnastics. I’ve never actually done gymnastics (besides leaps and turns which are a minor part of gymnastics but a bigger part of dance but I’ve never done acro which is also used quite a lot in dance) although I haven’t given up on it, though it will be a lot harder now because I’m an adult and my arthritis is so much worse. But I know a lot. My little sister does low-level gymnastics and I actually know enough to help her, which is quite fun!

Anyways this was longer than I intended it to be, but there you have it- my interest in gymnastics was caused by me literally doomscrolling. And I have no regrets.

Back at it again with another theory: What if Lucanis’ betrayal wasn’t a betrayal at all?

(obviously, spoilers below the cut)

During The Wigmaker Job, we have some dialogue between Illario and Lucanis about their position within both the Crows and the Dellamorte family. Illario wants Caterina to step down so he can take the coveted First Talon spot. Lucanis reassures him that his time is coming, to which Illario makes a snide comment about whether his cousin would ever go against their grandmother’s wishes. When they continue the conversation after the job, Illario states that Lucanis is the potential heir, that he’s her favorite, and that he’s unlikely to say no to her. Lucanis doesn’t argue, only insists that he doesn’t want to be First Talon, and that he hopes she’ll see reason before that. It’s mentioned again in Eight Little Talons - Caterina favors Lucanis. It’s well-known enough among the Crows that Viago and Teia discuss it in front of her (not on purpose, but she doesn’t deny it). He’s her prodigy through and through.

In the opening scene for the Lucanis quest in Veilguard, Caterina is poised, as you’d expect of the First Talon. She’s certain that the body they buried wasn’t her grandson, that it had been altered with blood magic. She doesn’t pose it as a theory, though: she poses it as a fact. It could, of course, merely be her confidence, but there’s another very unusual aspect to the scene – everyone else discusses how Lucanis was clearly betrayed, that someone must have sold him out in order for the Venatori to capture him. Caterina is the only one in that room who never speaks on it. She doesn’t ask for justice, doesn’t mention vengeance, never acknowledges that her grandson was sold out by someone he trusted – perhaps because he wasn’t. 

What if, when Caterina comes to him with a plan, with an impossible request, he’s still her favorite prodigal grandchild, and he still does whatever she asks? She’s had him tortured before as a child, has tortured and starved and beaten him herself before, because it makes him stronger and more resistant to it in the future. He says in The Wigmaker Job that he used to hate her for it, but now he understands. He justifies it. All Crows justify it, because they have to - if they don’t, then the cruelty wasn’t for survival’s sake, and their suffering meant nothing. Perhaps he doesn’t even question it. When Caterina tells him that she has a job for him, he takes it. 

What if the contract has a caveat? Sure, Calivan must die by his hand by the end of it, a little treat for a job well done, but what if his primary mission is reconnaissance, is discovery? The Venatori are using blood magic to torture and corrupt prisoners. It would behoove the Crows to find out what it entails and how to resist it, before it’s turned back on them. It would have to be someone so deeply, unabashedly loyal to her that when she asked them to infiltrate a Venatori prison, expecting torture at best, their own death at worst, they’d take the job anyway, no questions asked - someone Caterina can trust, certainly, but also someone who has never once said no to her.

And Lucanis has always been a loyal grandson.
