how do you pick your colors???? your art is SO breathtaking. do you think you'd ever post a speedpaint?

most importantly i help myself with gradient maps a lot! sometimes i use a LOT of tgem😭 so i basically start with colors that i somewhat want and then i put layers on that until im satisfied

i try to makecolor combos that are opposites on the color wheel thats why i very often go witg red and green or also blue and yellow, there are many possible color combinations

also i like when my drawing has main colors so for example there are only 4 colors and colors similar to them on the canvas (if that makes sense) for example this drawing is mostly blue, yellow/greenish color, and a color similar to orange

and this drawing is mostly yellow/brown, blue and red

thats what i do but many artist put a lot of colors on the canvas on purpose and go crazy and it alwats looks amazinf too so thats somethinf every artist has to figure out by tgemselves😭

i think its important to always check your values by seeing how the drawing looks in black&white! i personally like it when its very clear and the differences between colors are harsh and visible, some artists like it when everythinf kinda has a similar value so the colors look like theyre melting into each other!

this is the only drawinf i have saved on phone that is black and white😭 but yeah bascially

so whenever i see that the values in my drawinf are too similar i make sure to make something darker or lighter, very often just a white overlay helps!

also maybe if i figure out how to record a speedpaint i will post it haha im not the greatest with technology

I don’t like what the current state of mogaiblr is now. Blogs have gotten so much more harder to read + inaccessible & as someone who joined (+left) mogaiblr over a year ago, its gotten so much more difficult especially since mogaiblr doesn’t care about your coins/terms if they don’t fit the general cutesy/pink aes. And blog layouts .. its like people forgot about color theory & contrast they’re so painful to look at sometimes especially as someone with extreme visual impairment

Another thing to mention is that people need to drop their tq when needed. Replycons & titles are cute and all I guess but using them when discussing serious topics (namely the koa callout post, as well as another that I can’t quite remember the name of) comes off as weird & insensitive in a way I can’t describe but .. I do hope that’s somewhat understandable

It’s so frustrating to see all of this as someone who used to be a coiner back around early 2023 .. it’s been an issue since then (& probably even before then) & it’s gotten worse which .. yaay

I have made a little vampire bat. I didn’t have much of the kind of fabric I chose for it, so the first one had to be a blonde. There’smlots of changes I could make, but tbh I really just want to refine a couple of tricky spots and keep it this way. It’s a cuddly tiny thing and I wanted to make somethinf “creepy” (in quotes because it’s not creepy at all!).

The color is a bit more orange irl, more flower colored than mustard colored. First two pics capture it better.

Here in North America Mabon has finally begun (I think? I hear it’s usually the 21st of September but Im not too sure) The holiday where the 2nd harvest has finally arrived, we’re officially done with summer, and now we can focus on our abundance and enjoy nature as it changes from the vibrant green into different shades of reds, yellows and and oranges and flowers still have their colors for a bit longer reminding us of the abundance that nature gives us with no conditions. So please get comfortable, get your favorite drink and snack and grab your pet and let’s discuss Mabon!

Origins

According to my reference, Mabon is one of the last holidays that became official and part of the other sabbats. The word Mabon is of welsh dialect and means son of mother; but it has other symbolic meanings. It speaks of the balance of the light and darkness and other cycles that make life…life.

How Can I celebrate Mabon?

🍁decorating🍁: cozy up the home, whether it’s Halloween decorations, or simply adding pumpkins, apples, or seasonal scented candles or garland, whatever you prefer or have on hand, decorate the homemade Mabon your own celebration that fits your personality! Do arts and crafts outside, read a book, all the while you have a fire going and the home is smelling good!

🍎🎃Apple or Pumpkin picking🎃🍎: go your local apple orchard or pumpkin patch and buy some pumpkins or get a bushel of apples! Take the time to be mindful of your actions and enjoy the weather too!
