Trying to figure out how much Truth in Television there is for the dark-haired girl in yuri/yuri subtext to (almost) always be the reserved, introverted one in the pairing and why That Is.

Portal 2 is still the perfect game to me. I hyperfixated on it like crazy in middle school. Would sing Want You Gone out loud cuz I had ADHD and no social awareness. Would make fan animations and pixel art. Would explain the ending spoilers and fan theories to anyone who'd listen. Would keep up with DeviantArt posts of the cores as humans. Would find and play community-made maps (Gelocity is insanely fun).

I still can't believe this game came out 12 years ago and it looks like THIS.

Like Mirror's Edge, the timeless art style and economic yet atmospheric lighting means this game will never age. The decision not to include any visible humans (ideas of Doug Rattmann showing up or a human co-op partner were cut) is doing so much legroom too. And the idea to use geometric tileset-like level designs is so smart! I sincerely believe that, by design, no game with a "realistic art style" has looked better than Portal 2.

Do you guys remember when Nvidia released Portal with RTX at it looked like dogshit? Just the most airbrushed crap I've ever seen; completely erased the cold, dry, clinical feel of Aperture.

So many breathtakingly pit-in-your-stomach moments I still think about too. And it's such a unique feeling; I'd describe at as... architectural existentialism? Experiencing the sublime under the shadow of manmade structures (Look up Giovanni Battista Piranesi's art if you're curious)? That scene where you're running from GLaDOS with Wheatley on a catwalk over a bottomless pit and––out of rage and desperation––GLaDOS silently begins tearing her facility apart and Wheatley cries 'She's bringing the whole place down!' and ENORMOUS apartment building-sized blocks begin groaning towards you on suspended rails and cement pillars crumble and sparks fly and the metal catwalk strains and bends and snaps under your feet. And when you finally make it to the safety of a work lift, you look back and watch the facility close its jaws behind you as it screams.

Or the horror of knowing you're already miles underground, and then Wheatley smashes you down an elevator shaft and you realize it goes deeper. That there's a hell under hell, and it's much, much older.

Or how about the moment when you finally claw your way out of Old Aperture, reaching the peak of this underground mountain, only to look up and discover an endless stone ceiling built above you. There's a service door connected to some stairs ahead, but surrounding you is this array of giant, building-sized springs that hold the entire facility up. They stretch on into the fog. You keep climbing.

I love that the facility itself is treated like an android zooid too, a colony of nano-machines and service cores and sentient panel arms and security cameras and more. And now, after thousands of years of neglect, the facility is festering with decomposition and microbes; deer, raccoons, birds. There are ghosts too. You're never alone, even when it's quiet. I wonder what you'd hear if you put your ear up against a test chamber's walls and listened. (I say that all contemplatively, but that's literally an easter egg in the game. You hear a voice.)

Also, a reminder that GLaDOS and Chell are not related and their relationship is meant to be psychosexual. There was a cut bit where GLaDOS would role-play as Chell's jealous housewife and accuse her of seeing other cores in between chambers. And their shared struggle for freedom and control? GLaDOS realizing, after remembering her past life, that she's become the abuser and deciding that she has the power to stop? That even if she can't be free, she can let Chell go because she hates her. And she loves her. Most people interpret GLaDOS "deleting Caroline in her brain" as an ominous sign, that she's forgetting her human roots and becoming "fully robot." But to me, it's a sign of hope for GLaDOS. She's relieving herself of the baggage that has defined her very existence, she's letting Caroline finally rest, and she's allowing herself to grow beyond what Cave and Aperture and the scientists defined her to be. The fact that GLaDOS still lets you go after deleting Caroline proves this. She doesn't double-back or change her mind like Wheatley did, she sticks to her word because she knows who she is. No one and nothing can influence her because she's in control. GLaDOS proves she's capable of empathy and mercy and change, human or not.

That's my retrospective, I love this game to bits. I wish I could experience it for the first time again.

So I finally could look at the actual panels of chapter 261 (still lying on my own pool of tears don't mind me).

Yuta holding all of this on his shoulders just crushed my soul even more, even if I knew what was going to happen, seeing it was clearly something else.

A couple things on my mind:

1) YUTA'S BODY

I FEEL SO SICK HE LOST AN ARM SO HE IS APOLOGIZING TO RIKA BECAUSE ENGAGEMENT RING ARE TRADITIONALLY ON LEFT HAND AND NOT ON RIGHT HAND

OH GEGE, IF I CATCH YOU GEGE 😰

Also seeing the sorry state of Yuta's body, can he ever get back into it??? Like I imagine he can take it back if he uses Kenjaku techniques on himself (and it's a one time activation) but would the body be in a good enough state to be used............. I feel like Yuta is either doomed to die if Kenjaku is not a one time activation, or to be trapped in Gojo's body (or another dead body which is not his.) In any case it's going to be horrible and I am already suffering, Yuta clearly didn't deserve such a gruesome fate...

2) THE GRUESOME ROOM

I was wondering wtf this room was at first, it took me some time (and the English translation because the French one was weird) to understand it was the room where the higher ups are.

So............. Gojo's students were just standing behind the door while he was wiping them out to make sure they wouldn't try to come after them if he died like they did in Shibuya... I am so sick... (Also still surprised at how Gojo manages to trust Gakuganji so much after he killed Yaga...)

3) Gojo didn't want his body to be used

He didn't say yes. He didn't say no either.. He dismissed it saying it was impossible for him to lose (while he was on his way making sure that if he did they wouldn't get into trouble... So the possibility he lost really was in his mind at this moment.). Of course he would never say no, if it's the only way to save the world and his students how could he say no... but yeah, it fucks me up so much that he didn't agree to this. Like it makes the profanation even worse somehow... (This is not to blame Yuta at all, Yuta is the one suffering the most from all of this and has valid reasons too, it's just another layer of fucking tragedy.)

IN CONCLUSION

Any spark of joy has now left my body, I think I will take a SMAU break next week because I can't see myself doing fluff right now. I will just eat ice cream and watches the most heartwarming animes known to mankind (please send recs) to recover.

✧.* i've been wanting to make this list for a while now, mainly because i wanna talk about my fav cartoons/open up opportunities for other littles to find something awesome to watch!!! there's gonna be a lot of ranges in age ratings to add some variety for older/younger littles :)

✧.* also, i'd like to put a disclaimer here and say that a lot of these are on streaming services that i own, but other littles may not. i would also like to say that there are ways to get around a paywall if you can't afford certain streaming services!!! you can find full episodes on youtube/other sites for free!!! (just use an adblocker if you're on a site other than youtube if u can!!)

✧.* another disclaimer: any regressor of any age can watch any of these shows!! i just wanted to put the age ratings for those who want to stick to media that's more in their age range!! so, don't feel like you have to limit yourself from watching certain shows just because of how old you regress to!!

✧.* spectacular spider-man (2008-2009, 2 seasons): suitable for 7-8+, but i'd say it'd be okay for littles who regress younger to watch, too!! honestly, my all-time favorite spider-man cartoon!!! not only is it fun to watch while little, you can truly appreciate the show when you're big, too!!! josh keaton's voicework as spider-man is just- ahhhh it's so amazing imo!! the story is really good, the animation/style is just so iconic, and the colors are very easy on the eyes!!! (especially if you're sensitive to bright colors when little/in general) absolute banger of a theme song, too!!!

✧.* x-men: the animated series (1992-1997, 5 seasons): rated for around 7-8+, but i do admit that there can be some scary scenes for especially younger/more sensitive littles. honestly, this show is great!!! i loved all the different story arcs, how colorful the show is, the characters themselves- a lot of cool stuff about this show!!! be warned, there's a sudden drop in quality during season 5... i think they switched animation studios/va's or something because season 5 is NOT the best season of the show, i'll tell you that... 0_0

✧.* x-men '97 (2024-present, 1 season so far): rated for 14+, so this show is more suitable for teen regressors. it's a continuation of x-men:tas, and oh man... this is it. my favorite cartoon of all time!!! the animation is just oh so beautiful!!! the fight scenes are awesome!!! the soundtrack- oh golly the soundtrack!!! the remastered x-men:tas opening is just- wow!!! but, there's definitely reasons why it's rated 14+... not gonna spoil anything, but there's a lot of scenes in the show that can be upsetting for younger littles. trust me, watching some scenes when you're little is just- too much sometimes... (speaking from experience) it's an amazing show, but watch at ur own risk if you're a younger regressor!!!

✧.* batman: the animated series (1992-1995, 4 seasons): i'd say it's for around ages 9-10+, since it can be fairly dark at times. (same goes for a lot of batman related media!!) honestly, this show's pretty good!!! the style of the show is very dark visually, so it's easy on the eyes for those with bright color sensitivities!!! the artstyle itself is also very nice to look at!!! the voicework is amazing as well, especially kevin conroy's (rip) performance as batman himself!!! from what i can remember, the plotpoints were also pretty on-par!! i remember liking the show a lot when i was a kid!! :)

✧.* hulk vs. wolverine (not a show but an animated movie, 2009): this one's rated pg-13, since there's depictions of violence. but, i gotta say- this movie had me hyped up when i watched it as a kid!!! this was part of a straight to video two-movie collection, (the other being "hulk vs. thor") and i gotta say... this movie was awesome!!! the fight scenes were rad as heck, the animation was amazing, even deadpool was in the movie!!! (which, fun fact, was his first appearance in animation!!! other than the 2 second cameo in x-men:tas) very fun movie!!!

✧.* these are just some recommendations!!! i really liked these when i was a kid, and i hope you'll like them too, if you decide to watch them!!!

Which translation/adaptation of JTTW is best for beginners? Besides maybe Dragon Ball (doubt it counts)

Heh yeah I mean it’s a great anime but I don’t think you would have a good Xiyouji experience per se. Usually, I see Dragon Ball used as a gateway for people to THEN read/watch Xiyouji content but like it doesn’t really have much Xiyouji plot wise even if the characters are homages.

I would say that if you want an ACCURATE Xiyouji experience then you can choose between three shows. That being the classic 1986 which is many people's first Xiyouji experience as the cast is so iconic you see these designs in dozens of movies and their influence in future performances. The second is more family-friendly but still one of the most charming and fairly accurate portrayals is the 1999 Xiyouji animation, I would say far more younger people's first piece of media and without a doubt the best Xiyouji animation series thus far personally. That last I would suggest is 2011 Xiyouji series which is one of the more newer shows and I would say I would that if you want more modern effects and humor than this might be a preferance to the 1986 version. They both have their own charm but just depends on what you are looking for!

Now while these are the most accurate there are some Xiyouji media I would still recommend even if they take far more liberties.

This without a doubt being the 1996 tv series. This is portrayed as more of a drama but between the characters and the pure HEART AND LOVE that is in this show that you will be falling in love with the characters. It vaguely follows the Xiyouji monster of the weak formula but taking far more time to humanize each enemy and having our main cast overcome not only physical obstacles but also their own emotional obstacles as well. Fantastic show. Another is Chinese Odessey (please note this is a two part movie)! This does NOT follow the journey at all instead more of an introspective of the character Wukong. This is more of comedy but this is a cult classic as one of the first romance films with Wukong to show him as more of a complex hero which was a deviation from how he was portrayed in media for years as this point. This movie is silly but it is actually very heartfelt and makes you feel for these characters's plights. If you don't know Xiyouji I would say you will be confused, but you can fall in love with these characters anyway! Whil I can't suggest Dragon Ball I can suggest another Son Goku from My Son Goku! This is a Japanese production but the animation is so fluid and the characters are not only charming but there are some heart reaching scenes in this very cute art style! I would say give this a watch if you enjoy anime but also can appreciate angst even in a cute style.

If you are looking for more just great Xiyouji movies that you can pop in and a fantastic one is the 2015 Hero is Back! This was the Wukong come back animation-wise since 1999 and a lot of people first Wukong in the big screens! Does take liberties story wise as we don't see Sha Wujing or any of the journey really, but the HEART and soul of Sun Wukong is there. Another great one is just watching the first and classic 1961 Havoc in Heaven! This was the staple of Wukong iconics for decades and even now you see this Wukong in commercials! This is just a beautiful art style and without a doubt charming and feel good vibes. This one is surprising but actually Nezha Reborn where Sun Wukong actually makes a cameo appearance, but I hear so many people got into Xiyouji just cause how much they love him. So while it's not Xiyouji I would say give it a watch if you are a die hard Sun Wukong fan.

There is also Monkey King Reborn which while less known I still think is wonderfully popular and shows both great animation and also how all three characters of Wukong, Bajie, and Wujing interact in a movie. There is also Monkey King 2 which I know that usually I would say which the first movie but honestly the second movie is my personal fav. You don't miss much without watching the first as the second starts right at the begging of the journey and we are introduced to some of the best designs for these characters in my opinion. This last one is kinda of a hit-or-miss but Conquering the Demon! This one follows Sanzang as a demon hunter in a loosely based story of him finding his disciples, each more monstrous than the last in a dark-comedy! If you enjoy Stephen Chow films then you know what kind of humor you are going to get but it is new take on Xiyouji films in a unique but still entertaining manner! They really make you feel for Sanzang as a character and one of the best humanizations of him really as a man still learning about the world himself.

There some other that are great but I would suggest more on a second watch or if you know the story more! Saiyuki / The Great Alakazam was the first eng dub saiyuki piece of media that came to the USA and still had a lasting influence with the beloved character Rinrin! There is also Monkey King 2009 that only looks at the story BEFORE the journey, adding so many elements to Wukong's childhood and his relationship with the Six Eared Macaque. I would also suggest the Monkey King Netflix Movie as while it is fast-paced it really makes you understand how dangerous but also how complex Sun Wukong is. I think it was a charming movie so give it a watch!. Last is Immortal Demon Slayer! This movie was based on a web novel that was extremely popular in the early 2000s which was based off Chinese Odessey funny enough! This is a movie I would suggest if you know Xiyouji already but it such a tragedy I have to share if you love angst.

So, I want to examine some instances of fan translators claiming NISA has mistranslated something, when, no, actually, they didn't.

Kokichi's last words

This is probably the most widespread myth in terms of "mistranslations that aren't", with the original post that makes this claim having over 2k notes: that Kokichi in the original Japanese actually says, "How could a game where you're forced to kill people be fun...?" Unfortunately, it's just not true. Fortunately for me, there's a reddit post here that breaks the line down in detail, so I don't have to do any work.

Anyway, I really wanted to make this post because of this thread, which makes several false claims.

So... souiu, meaning that type of/that kind of is right there, directly before nakama (which can mean friend, especially if it's in a shounen anime, but can also just mean companion/member of a group). Why, in this context, would Kokichi suddenly blurt out that he's afraid of having friends? It has nothing to do with the conversation they're having.

Okay, you've probably heard the phrase mou ii a lot if you watch anime, and it's almost always accompanied by a frustrated huff. Because it is, in fact, something you say when impatient, fed up, what have you. It literally means "good already", carrying pretty much the identical meaning of the English phrase, "that's enough" or "I've had enough". Shuichi does not say it's okay as in it's daijoubu, which is the word you use when trying to comfort someone. He is very much frustrated here and telling Kokichi to fess up.

I couldn't find a line like this in Kokichi's FTEs, but maaaaaaaybe I missed it? Shuichi's narration comments quite a few times on Kokichi acting childishly throughout the game, but I couldn't find anything like this in specific.

I've seen varying claims on how these lines were translated, from them being slightly tweaked, to the claim they were completely butchered to make Saihara too aggressive. I'm just going to leave it here and let you come to your own conclusions.

This is snappy in its own way, though, if you consider that 程度 is closer to meaning grade/level/degree rather than simply "type of". "That's the level of person you are," basically.

And if you doubt me on any of this, I encourage you to do your own research, get second opinions if you can. I know not everyone knows Japanese, in which case you can't really help but rely on someone else and hope their translation is accurate. That said, at the bare minimum, I think people should provide screenshots and the original Japanese text if they're going to claim something is a mistranslation. Like, I don't think you should be able to say "actually in Japanese Kokichi says he volunteers at animal shelters in his free time but NISA cut it!" and have half the fandom believe you with no proof.

hongjoong always comes home late, working tirelessly on producing, songwriting, and juggling many other tasks throughout his days and nights. so, you've taken it upon yourself to find comfort in a big teddy bear, craving the warmth of someone beside you to cuddle up with. this time though, you two had a massive fight, and he's gone all silent on you. no more arguing, he had decided. instead, he'd channel all that frustration into crafting some new beats, pouring his anger into his creations, so the cuddling with the bear just hits harder.

as he enters your private room, the first thing he does is check on you before even taking off his clothes or washing up. his eyes soften at the sight of you nestled with the large plushie, and his heart squeezes with guilt. you look so tiny and delicate in the vast bed, almost overshadowed by the bear's size. he tenderly runs his fingers from your wrist to your elbow, noticing your firm grip on the stuffed animal, and he closes his eyes, allowing his thoughts to roam freely as he scolds himself for being selfish and leaving you so lonely that you resorted to such measures to feel embraced.

you turn to him, all smiles, and seonghwa can't help but reciprocate, smiling back down at you. you plant a soft peck on his lips, once, twice, and a third time because you just love him so much. then, you clap your hands twice, letting the automatic system turn off the lights for you. you fall asleep in seonghwa's arms just like usual, but as the night goes on, the heat radiating from his body makes you push him away. you grab your plushie instead and cuddle with it, moving as far away as you can from seonghwa. ah, finally, you can rest without feeling like you're trapped in a sauna.

"what… the.. fuck?" seonghwa groans, his speech slow and laced with sleep, waking up three hours later with no one in his arms. he props himself up on his elbows, looking around confusedly for your form. once his eyes adjust to the darkness, he finds you sleeping far away from him, cuddling with something that isn't him.

feeling betrayed, he grabs you by the waist, your back facing him, and he pulls you to be flush with him. you're awakened by the harsh motion, momentarily stunned before you start whining, trying to get away. but he just holds you closer, briefly letting go of your waist to grab the plushie and toss it behind him. impressive, considering the weight of that thing, but right now, the focus is on the issue at hand—his body temperature. "hwaa nooo, too hot."

"shut up you promised you'd stay through sickness and health, so just suffer with me." he croaks against your hair and you turn to him, a "boy what the hell are you talking about" look on your face.

"what promise? we're not even married?" you retort, your voice matching his, as you can barely make out the words from your dry throat.

"i'll just grab the popcorn real quick, alright? you can start the movie without me, princess, no worries."

you nod quietly, reaching for the remote on the table as he plants a sweet kiss on your head when you settle back on the sofa. you press play, and the new spiderman movie starts rolling, but you're too exhausted to fully engage. work has really drained you, and all you crave is some rest. so, you pick up the cylindrical pillow beside you and hug it close.

by the time yunho returns with the snacks, you've already drifted off, and miles morales is on the screen, facing his mom's wrath. yunho doesn't notice right away, plopping down beside you and fixating his gaze on the tv. he laughs at a funny scene, but when he doesn't hear your laughter, he glances at you curiously from under his bangs. his eyes soften as he witnesses your adorable cuddling with the pillow. he can't help but be mesmerized, allowing the movie to play in the background while he admires every little detail of your face.

as he notices a droplet of spit forming on your parted lips, he can't help but chuckle, totally captivated by everything about you. gently, he wipes it away with his thumb and then lowers the volume using the remote. he softly takes the pillow from your arms and pulls you closer to him. he tries to hide his face with his hand as you snugly wrap your arms around his waist, finding comfort in his embrace. if mingi saw how completely giddy sleepy you can make him, he'd surely tease him endlessly.

"my princess' so cute, isn't she hmm?" he murmurs in the silence, running his fingers through the back of your neck. as you snuggle closer, he embraces you tightly, planting gentle kisses on your hair, causing you to twitch awake.

"huh? did the movie end? shit, sorry, i dozed off," you mumble groggily against his chest, trying to shift position. he places a hand over your eyes, momentarily blocking your vision.

"shh, go back to sleep, we'll watch it tomorrow," yunho chuckles, coaxing you to return to slumber on his chest. you comply happily, sneakily sliding your hands under his shirt to softly trace your nails on his skin.

"'ight, just promise not to watch it without me," you say playfully.

"deal, but only if you promise not to cuddle a pillow instead of me," he retorts with a teasing grin, "baby?"

you pout and turn on the bed, making sure to steal his pillow to cuddle with. after ogling his body for a while, he takes off his tank top to flex his stomach and then goes to the bathroom to brush his teeth. once he's done with his routine, he returns to bed, only to notice his missing pillow.

he's about to fuss and whine, but when he sees you cuddling it, looking so cute, he can't help but stop. he lets his head fall back, gazing at the ceiling as he contemplates his options. should he steal back his pillow or just let you have it, because you look so comfy? he decides on the latter.

yeosang slips into bed, resting his cheek on his arm, elbow against the mattress, and turns toward you. your eyebrows are scrunched as if you're upset it's not him you're cuddling. he presses his thumb gently at the middle of your eyebrows, soothing the skin until your expression becomes more neutral. his fingers don't leave your face, though. they trail over, outlining your eyebrows, then gently feeling your eyelashes with his fingertips, before moving over the slope of your nose and settling on your puffy lips. he lightly pinches the flesh of your bottom lip between his fingers, tugging at it ever so softly. gosh, you're cute. and that habit of yours, hugging things when you sleep, just makes him melt even more for you. his heartbeat quickens the more he thinks about it. it's just so adorable!! now his eyebrows meet because he has to make do with sleeping without a pillow, all because you're so cute. sure, he could get up and find another pillow somewhere in the apartment, but he just can't seem to take his eyes off you, as if you'd vanish the moment he steps out of the room.

the next morning, you wake up to the sight of yeosang sleeping next to you, with his head propped up on the mattress. you can't help but smile at the sight and decide to wake him up with small kisses to his lips.

you slam the door of your bedroom in his face, seething with anger. you're so furious that you could wreck the entire room right now. it's unbelievable that his ex showed up at the party he attended. fine, he only responded out of politeness when she talked to him, but it hurts you. what really stings is that wooyoung had to tell you about it before he did. you don't want to think about being understanding right now; you just need some time alone.

you make a beeline for the bed, falling onto it and getting tangled in the sheets. you silently kick the air like a child who's been denied a playdate. you know you're being childish, but it's too late to call him back. he's probably already on the couch, trying to sleep off the night. you'll talk about it in the morning like you always do, but for now, you'll settle for cuddling with one of his many plushies. grabbing the bigger one, you press your face against it and quickly doze off, exhausted from the fight.

not even two hours later, san sneaks back into the room. he makes sure you're asleep before taking another step. he just wanted to grab his phone from the nightstand, bored out of his mind and unable to sleep without you in his arms.

standing in front of the bed, he hesitates. you're there, cuddling with a bigger version of the shiber plushie you got him for his birthday, and he can't help but pout because he wants to be the one in your arms. maybe he could just slide in beside you—no, he shouldn't. but what if he lays down next to you without touching you—no, he shouldn't. what if he takes daddy shiber's place, then wakes up earlier to slip back onto the couch—no, he shouldn't. but you just look so adorable holding that plushie; it should be him!! lost in his thoughts, he doesn't notice you opening your eyes, having woken up the moment he entered the room. you really need to oil that door; it creaks so loudly.

"sanni," you whisper, and he lets out a small scream, so startled that he drops his phone. he cusses and quickly grabs it, apologizing and stuttering as he backs away. but he stops when you call his name again.

"yes?" his voice is small, and you sigh, rubbing your face. finally, you push the plushie away. "come here."

he practically jumps into the bed, pulling you close and hugging you tightly. "baby, i'm sorry. i didn't tell you because it honestly slipped my mind. she's so unimportant; i didn't even realize. i completely forgot about her—"

"san, not now. let's talk about it tomorrow morning. just hug me, please."

mingi is playing basketball with yunho in your backyard when you finally arrive home from work. you slip off your heels, keeping your eyes fixed on your boyfriend's agile movements through the sliding glass doors of the living room, which offer a clear view of the action in the garden. a soft smile forms on your lips as you watch him playfully push yunho aside, causing the taller boy to burst into laughter.

you push open the sliding doors and wave at the boys as they notice you. mingi playfully throws you a flying kiss, and you can't help but chuckle at his antics. taking a seat on one of the comfy couches you and mingi placed on the open veranda, you settle in to enjoy the scene.

"this shot's for you, babe!" mingi exclaims, dramatically pointing at you as he readies himself to shoot a 3-pointer. he releases the ball into the air but embarrassingly misses, leading to more laughter from yunho, who goes to retrieve the ball from the grass. mingi scratches the back of his head awkwardly and jogs over to you. "you didn't see anything."

you close your eyes, playing along, and feel a soft kiss on your cheek, followed by a sweet "welcome home, tiny" that warms your heart. mingi plants another kiss on your nose before returning to his match with yunho. the rhythmic sound of the bouncing ball lulls you into a peaceful sleep, and you instinctively grab a pillow to support your chin.

mingi doesn't notice that you've fallen asleep until he finishes his game. he and yunho approach your sleeping form, and both of them quiet down. mingi's breath catches in his throat at the sight – you look so adorable!! he can't help but let his thoughts run wild about how cute his princess is until yunho interrupts.

"bro, your girl's cute," yunho remarks, and mingi immediately turns to him, pushing him and throwing a couple of curses his way.

"get your own, you're not allowed to look!" mingi whines, using his body to shield you from yunho's view, pointing towards the living room to shoo him away. yunho chuckles but goes inside, knowing his own house is just down the street.

with yunho gone, mingi turns back to your sleeping form, crossing his arms in front of him as he shakes his head from side to side. "what am i gonna do with you, tiny? you can't let these guys see you like that."

you watch wooyoung's graceful movements in the long mirror as he dances to a song from his album. a soft smile plays on your lips as you observe his focused expression, a sharp contrast to your naturally goofy boyfriend. the bass of the music reverberates through the floor, and for a moment, you close your eyes, allowing the sound to lull you into a sense of calm, almost drifting to sleep.

but your position on the floor isn't the most comfortable, sitting cross-legged. your eyes scan the room until you spot wooyoung's bag. with a mischievous smirk, you grab it and place it between your face and your thighs, hugging it to support your nap. soon, you doze off with a contented smile on your face.

wooyoung notices right away. his eyes are always on you just as much as yours are on him, and he stops dancing for a moment to disconnect his phone from the bluetooth stereo and switches to his airpods so as not to disturb your rest. he's eager to finish practice, knowing that the sooner he does, the sooner he can take you home.

after an hour of dancing, he's left with only the sound of his own heavy breathing. he puts the earphones back in his pocket and walks over to you, trying not to wake you up. he takes a seat beside you, grabbing a water bottle that was nearby.

as he sips from the bottle, his eyes remain fixated on your form. he just stares at you, wanting to memorize every detail, wishing he could imprint your image at the back of his eyelids. you're smiling in your sleep, and he bites his bottom lip, his gaze drifting to how you're hugging his bag. you're cute, you're so pretty, almost ethereal, and he feels like he's floating on a cloud. he considers himself the luckiest man alive. it's as if you sense his stare even in your sleep, and you wake up slowly, your eyelids fluttering open as you look around in confusion. the nap was so good that you momentarily forgot where you were.

when your eyes meet wooyoung's, his expression gives nothing away, although his mind is filled with enamored thoughts of you. you instinctively shrink in on yourself, hugging the bag tighter.

"… what?" you ask softly, feeling perplexed by the way he was looking at you.

he doesn't say anything; instead, he bends down and gives you a long kiss on the lips, catching you off guard. "woo, wha— what was that for?" you mumble.

"what was what for? since when do i need a reason to kiss you?" wooyoung replies, the affection in his words hidden behind a playful scoff.

"you don't, just don't look at me like a psychopath before you do it…"

you and jongho are cuddling together on the couch, him engrossed in a video game while you lazily watch the screen. sleep starts to tug at you, so you reach for the nearby pillow to get more comfortable.

the moment jongho sees you grabbing the pillow, he pulls the mic of his headphones up, briefly muting himself. "nah, drop that right now."

"jjong, what are you talking about?" you look up at him, surprised and confused, dropping a disbelieving scoff. he glances quickly at the screen, shooting a random guy in the game, and then focuses back on you.

"drop the pillow. you're not hugging that to sleep," he says, noticing your small habit and not liking it one bit. he scowls while trying to grab the pillow with one hand, still holding the controller with the other. however, you playfully pull back, laughing at his quirky antics.

"not until you tell me why," you laugh even harder, seeing him struggling to divide his attention between you and the game. but he only pouts, not wanting to reveal his true feelings. you snicker, now leaning against the armrest, and you playfully tap him with your feet, giggling when he sends you a death glare. "come on, tell meee."

"why would you hug a pillow to sleep when i'm right here?" he finally groans, pulling at his bangs to cover his face in embarrassment.

"no way, choi jongho, are you being serious right now?" you giggle even harder into the pillow, kicking your feet excitedly. the maknae is finally acting like a maknae, and you can't help but adore it. he doesn't say anything, rolling his eyes, but the slight blush spreading from his cheeks to his ears betrays him. he pulls the mic back down, hushing you with his finger, as if the fact that his mic is on can stop you from laughing at him. you toss the pillow to the floor and snuggle into his arms, making sure not to obstruct his view of the tv.

you mouth the words "i love you" before pulling him into a hug. jongho can't help but smile, momentarily forgetting that his mic is still on as he cheekily asks, "get your ass up here and give me a kiss."

a barrage of screams can be heard through the headset, so loud that even you can hear them.

"what the fuck jongho."

"bro what."

"hold on pause."

"aye man, what the fuck are you talking about."

"come here, teddy bear, i'll kiss you," jongho recoils at wooyoung's attempt at a fake high-pitched voice, trying to sound cute, but it only results in even more exaggerated disgusted screams from his the boys in the call.

I've thought about this for a long time but LoTCF is a fix-it novel. Not sure if someone thought about the same thing or if they have talked about it yet. But I've felt this way ever since I read about Kim Rok Soo's life.

After realising what he went through and just how hard his life is made me realise why he does the things he does. Why he has such a mindset. Why he values the little things other people would not even think about.

It made even more sense after hearing how he was collateral damage from the White Star's curse. How he can't hold the things he deemed dear close to him as he will always be bound to lose it. To lose them.

Lastly, it made me realise why the novel seems all sunshine and rainbows in the long run. Sure, there are angsty moments. Some moments and arcs made me bawl for weeks on end. Made me feel as though my heart was being ripped out of my chest (Looking at you earth lore). However, at the end of it all everyone on Cale's side is okay. It's like watching one of those old-school shonen animes where you know everyone will save the day with the power of friendship.

And I know I'm not the only one who noticed that. I saw a lot of discourse about how the series would be more interesting if someone actually died. If a lot was on the line. Something like ORV.

And omg does it piss me off so much.

Because once again LoTCF is a fix-it novel.

It's a novel about starting again. About Cale finally being able to hold and protect the things dear to him.

That's why it wouldn't make sense for him to lose more.

Plus, I genuinely think that if he loses one more thing important to him (non-material ofc) that would be his last straw. He has already been through so much. And it was because of something he didn't even have a clue about. Something he essentially had no business with if White Star just wasn't a greedy mfer.

I think some people also forget or doesn't realise the fact that this is also Cale's last chance. Like Ron and Choi Han who has lost their families several times and deemed their new group as their last chance. Their last family.

It's the same for Cale.

He already lost his biological parents. He already lost his brothers.

He can't lose his new family too.

That's why no one can die.

Despite that, as a reader, I am scared though. Scared at the lengths he's willing to go to protect his family.

Because this man has no self-preservation skills despite him always saying he has no plans of getting hurt or dying. I mean, I can't blame him for not knowing his worth. His life has been shit. He always had to go above and beyond to try and grasp the things he wanted only for them to still slip away from his fingertips. Like he's trying to collect running water with open palms.

And until now, even without the curse, he does the same thing. Because it's what he's used to. Maybe he subconsciously thinks that if his efforts dwindle a little he'll lose everything again. Not fully comprehending that it's fine now. That it's okay for him to breath a little.

Anyway, my point is I'm scared that at some point Cale will try to protect everyone and everything at his own cost. Will try to convince himself that he will be fine when he won't be. I mean I've already heard spoilers from book 2 and heard that's what seems to be happening right now.

I'm just scared that a point will come where Cale won't be able to come back from the decisions he makes in the name of protecting his family.

Finally watched Caped Crusader and I have ✨thoughts✨.

Oswalda is straight up iconic. Loved every scene with her. I actually laughed out loud when the dude goes "Thorne got you to kill the wrong son?" and she responds "Not that!" I'd let her lock me in a suitcase and throw me in the sea. She gets a gold star ⭐

I like that we get to see Selina's origin. I like the classic suit. That's kinda it though. A bit sad that Bruce didn't feel any connection with her. Just not a huge fan of her character here. She doesn't feel like Selina (a problem most of this show faces tbh).

I was loving the Harley stuff. The bit with Renee was so cute, and I love that she really was passionate about helping Bruce move past his trauma. I really like that she's Barbara's friend. Was really upset at the fakeout death but at least she was just joshin. The villain stuff felt like fetishes which like okay. I guess Bruce needed to put in something to replace BruceBabs. Anyway, that's the final dig towards him. As much as this Harley episode wasn't my favorite, a promise is a promise. Although I do gotta ask, WHY CAN'T RENEE CATCH A BREAK IN HER LOVE LIFE >:(((

No fucking way the moral of episode 7 was "the system is totally not screwed, it's just a few bad apples and also a criminal is a criminal and should be jailed". Barbara literally says the system sucks cause the cops can do what they want and get in anyone's pockets and then nearly gets killed by a cop and then they end it with "actually, I think you do"?! I mean yeah that specific guy deserved prison but ending it on that note of Barbara feeling betrayed and confused on her morals tells a very not-so-delightful message. Glad the show backtracks on all that immediately but it's still weird and definitely could've used some revising to fit in with the rest.

Onomatopeia was awesome though. I remember people claiming his shtick couldn't work when he appeared in Superman and Lois. They said that it only worked in comics and would be too silly out loud. Happy to report that they're wrong.

I feel like I'm the only one who was excited to see Waylon but that's okay cause I got enough excitement for everyone. Love to see my mans kicking the shit out of potential perverts. You go, Waylon!

Dick, Jason, Steph, and Carrie. Definitely an interesting combination. But it's also so nice to see a Jason who grew up in a different environment and is therefore adorable with no rage in his heart. As opposed to Carrie who was ready to kick some ass. The ending to episode 8 really understood Batman, what with him saying he can't leave her there, carrying her and shielding her under the cape, and then asking about her later.

The Harvey bit is kinda cool but 1, I've always been iffy on the shotty DID stuff and 2, I think they coulda gone further. Just watch The Long Halloween for a better Two Face plot.

I like Harvey helping that guy get his stuffed animal back. That was a nice small character moment. If we had more stuff like that and Bruce being unable to confess his emotions to Alfred, I think this whole thing would be better. This one made up for episode 7's little message by having Barbara tell Harvey that it's not so cut and dry and that he deserves help too. I'm glad they went back to that after the whole "sometimes things are black and white" bit. Batman is about helping people just as much as Superman is and I feel like sending a message that "nope, bad is bad and he should just punch people" doesn't fit the entire thesis of Batman.

This finale really encapsulates how this show doesn't quite understand the character of Batman. It may be comic-accurate for him to be an asshole and put on the voice randomly, treat Alfred like crap, and randomly break character with stuff like "don't start growing a conscience now, Dent" but as I said it goes against the whole thesis. This is more along the lines of the Nolan films with the "Bruce Wayne is the mask" bit. And we all know how I feel about those films.

And then it ends on a boring cliffhanger with the boss guy and then a shitty Joker teaser. Boo.

In short, this show is good but it's not anything special. I do really like the classic Batman aesthetic, but that's pretty much it. It doesn't really understand the characters like MAWS and WFA, the overarching plot is kind of uninteresting and it doesn't feel like we're building up to something great. I feel like this show really wanted to use the episodic style to take a look at all these different elements of Gotham's world with references to existing characters and aspects. But whereas MAWS smoothly slid those into its narrative and setting, this just kinda feels like a villain of the week show instead of working towards this grand narrative. And that can be a good thing, I mean I'm a Scooby Doo fan for crying out loud, but in this scenario, it just doesn't work that exceptionally. If it gets a season 2, I'll probably watch it. But this isn't something I'd be excitedly waiting to see new episodes of.

i think that sometimes it's okay if a show that starts out as one thing, but as time goes on it morphs and finds its footing in another thing.

i've been seeing a lot of people say that the helluva boss mission shorts are "what the show should have stayed as" but imma be real, i don't think the show would have nearly as much traction if it did stay that way.

you can even see it in the show itself, the first 3 episodes (and the pilot) follow this Murder of The Week formula (Mrs Mayberry v Martha, Stolas hiring blitz as "security," and killing as many people as they can in spring break), but by the harvest moon festival, you can feel that the team behind it want to go more in depth into hell's politics and societial structure (more importantly: this is stuff that they can't/don't have time to explore in Hazbin Hotel)

to me, season one is kind of laying the ground work for how Blitz feels about each of the people in his life (bc vivzie has said the show is about blitz's relationships and how hell operates), and season 2 is mostly about him reconciling with learning to romantically love someone/let someone in, learning to trust.

I understand if people prefer the episodic style, but for me, i like that they went in the other direction. I like the swinging tone and drama and romance, bc tbf i think the relationship drama is really only going to be the focus of /this season/ And (i might be wrong!) i think s3 will be about his relationship with Loona.

ANYWAY! i loved monsterfucker super fan more than *slurs* penguins and im eating every single bit of content up

i'm seeing more and more of this criticism rn and i think it's worth mentioning that the show simply doesn't have time/money to be both a murder of the week AND have a long form meta plot. they have found their groove in the meta plot about how hell's society functions and blitz's personal relationships.

this isn't a serialized cartoon under a major studio that can pump out an episode every week and afford to have long form "filler" episodes like most popular animated shows. it's a little engine that could chugging along making the best art and tell the best story it can.

"go back to what the show used to be!" girl idk if you watched the show but the IMP hit episodes (with an exception to Murder Family, my beloved) are like THE weakest,,,. no hate to you if you like them but you're wishing for more stuff like CHERUB and Unhappy Campers,,,,

point is: the hits really REALLY fit with the short form stuff bc the team has to condense it into a bite sized bit, which is why they're now a whole separate thing!!

cool if that's all you want the show to be, but if it didn't expand we wouldn't have episodes like Oops or Ozzie's.
