TWST X OBEY ME! 2
part 01
Some people asked for a second part, about this post
So here are some more characters:
Tumblr media
AU Summary: Years after graduating from NRC, Yuu lives with a boy from TWST and he proposes to Yuu.
After accepting, Yuu says that she would like him to meet her family.
Yuu= MC
There is a better explanation in part one.
Tumblr media
Just as Jade knew that having you around was like having Grim around, you knew that dating Jade meant constantly living with Floyd.
So it was obvious that when you went to Devilton to meet your family, you would be taking both of them. Jade was against taking your brother at first, but gave in (You know he only said Floyd wouldn't go because he wanted to tease him a little).
When you arrived in Devilton, you told them to be careful when touching or/and eating anything, since poisons and curses are extremely common.
Which only made Floyd more out of control, you were happy that Jade managed to hold him back (it would be bad to start a fight here, especially since you didn't know how merfolk would fare in a fight with demons).
You decided to stop at a grocery store in Devilton to buy some Cursed Candy Apples to take to your brothers and some Apples of Truth for Jade to use when her One Magic had already been used on someone and no longer worked.
But when you noticed, the trio of two mers and a monster cat had disappeared and done one of the few things you didn't want them to do: eat something and get into a fight!!
Apparently Floyd and Grim found the names of some of the food at the stalls next door amusing and forgot to pay, when Jade tried to pay for them, the owner refused the Taumarks and didn't hesitate to get into the middle of the fight.
The fight:
Salesman, Jade, Floy and Grim: *Fighting with punches, kicks and magic*
Yuu: STOP IT!!
Jade, Floy and Grim: *Look at an angry Yuu*
Salesman and the other demons who joined the fight for fun: *recognizing MC*
Demon A: Damn, I told you it was a bad idea to fight
Demon B: You said the complete opposite!!
Salesman: Sir/Miss MC - *walks away from the twins* - I apologize for the confusion, but these thieves can't get away with it.
Yuu: When you have a problem like this, take a picture of the thief and take it to the authorities, there's no need to get into a fight.
Yuu: As for the costs and expenses of this fight, I ask that you write a letter with the damages and send it to the House of Regrets within 3 days and I will settle it.
*Yuu turns around*
Yuu: And you 3, come with me!
As they walked a little:
Jade: *smiles* Oh, that was unexpected, Yuu-san!
Floyd: Shrimp is always full of surprises, hehe!!
Yuu: I'm still mad at you guys!!
Well, it didn't take long for Jade to notice that you worked a lot on government issues, or that there were only demons around.
To say that he and Barbatos got along would be an understatement, when Barbatos started talking about recipes with Hellfire mushrooms and Cat Ears mushrooms, you had the slight impression that Jade was exchanging you for the fauna and flora of Devilton.
You already imagined that your next days off would be spent exploring mountains that would have a new landscape.
It's better for you to make a list without Jade knowing which ingredients he brings to the Devilton Lounge are cursed or/and poisonous to give to Azul just in case.
Mammon found Jade to be a strange person, especially when he smiled. He seriously felt scared, he even asked you if you really wanted to marry a weird version of Barbatos.
You laughed at that, the two looked alike, but they were very different.
Barbatos is quiet and reserved, as he does not want to spoil or interfere in the future and thus be surprised by the paths that time will follow.
Jade is quiet and reserved because he likes to observe every detail of a person and get to know them better, to learn their strengths and weaknesses and use them if necessary.
Jade also had a very soft side when it came to nature and his passion for learning was extremely motivating.
Not to be outdone by Barbatos and his mushroom recipes, you gave Jade cigar cookies rolled with Hellfire mushrooms that you bought in town.
It was fun to see his reaction when he discovered the ingredients in the cookies:
Oh, do you eat Hellfire? I never thought you could make something so sweet with mushrooms, maybe you should try with the ones you have at home, you're going to help me make them for Azul and Floyd, right? After all, we don't want them to miss out on something so amazing.

When I thought about what Cater's proposal would be like, I initially thought he would do something as magically loving as possible.
But if you've gotten to the point where Cater proposes, I'm guessing you've been through a lot of ups and downs in your relationship and it must have been hard to break through the barriers he's built to protect himself from the world.
I think for Cater, it would be perfect if you proposed to him, in a quiet place with little to no movement.
Now, I'm sure he'd try to tell you that he's looking forward to meeting your family, but along the way make sure to calm his nerves (he's nervous to meeting your family).
Tell Cater that your family is a busy one and if your brother Asmo says something about Cater not being as beautiful as him, it's because Asmo believes he's the most beautiful person in the world, so there will never be anyone more beautiful than him.
He finds your family names a little strange, but he thinks it's something about different emotions.
Before going to Devilton, meeting the queen of the rose kingdom, Rose was something he will never forget.
And her saying that she considered you family, so that extended to him and that he would take good care of you was extremely, how can he say it, encouraging? Honorable? Charming? He doesn't know how to describe this feeling, but he's sure it's something positive.
On the other hand, nothing really scared him more than finding out that he would be surrounded by real demons for the next few days, you could have told him that, Prefect!!
What do you mean you didn't think about it? You explained to him that since you noticed that TWST was a place where all races lived practically in harmony, you didn't think there was a need to say which race your family belonged to.
Cater even thought that you could be a Demon, but you explained that you were just distant relatives who only found out they were related months after meeting each other.
It's obvious that you, Cater, Mammon and Asmo went to countless places like restaurants, spas, theaters and tourist spots.
When they're at an electronics store (Asmo and Mammon are picking out items to improve the quality of Asmo's Devilgram posts [Mammon is carrying the bags]):
Cater: Nee Nee Yuu-chan, what do you think of these headphones, we could match *Cater shows you a pair of headphones with white and red patterns so that each earbud has the opposite color pattern to the first*
Yuu: *smiles* That looks amazing!Cater: I know, I have great taste, I'm your fiancé after all! *winks*
Yuu: *laughs* Yeah, I couldn't ask for anything better!!
Cater: *loses her composure for a few seconds* He, aren't you a cute person?
Yuu: That's right!! I just remembered *takes something out of her bag*
Yuu: Here!! Remember when we first met and I said I didn't have a cell phone and you asked me to go buy one?
Cater: Do you still remember this? picks up the wrapped box and opens it to find a weird looking cell phone
Yuu: This is a DDD, it's like the cell phone in our world but different.
Cater: stops looking at the DDD when she sees Yuu showing her own DDD with a lilac and pink sheep on the cover
Yuu: Now we're a match!!
Cater: smiles as she turns around and sees a reddish and yellow sheep on her cover
Obviously you met Lord Diavolo and visited the castle, and Cater fell in love with Luke's cuteness (he said he wasn't cute [he is]).
You avoided the dangerous places with Cater, since he wasn't the biggest fan of adrenaline when it meant running or dying (which is something that happens a lot in Devilton).
You got the impression that he really enjoyed having tea with Simeon, Luke and Barbatos, maybe because it reminded him of the time they were in Heartsbyul.
Yuu, thank you for existing!
What did you say, Cater?
Hmm? I didn't say anything, Yuu-chan~♡

Ever since college ended and his romantic relationship with Leona was revealed, things had been tense.
Leona said it was worse before and that this is common in society. He noticed how people found it strange that you two were dating, since Leona is an unfriendly and lazy person and you are someone who always helps everyone and is kind.
(In fact, you get into a lot of trouble and when you get out of it you end up solving a problem that no one else could solve and this made others think you were someone extremely dedicated and helpful).
Leona felt strange with you getting so much attention, but it was funny to see people's faces when you ran to him like a happy puppy when it saw its owner, abandoning anyone else who was talking.
Always putting him as your main priority, always keeping curious and nosy people away when he was irritated and wanted silence, always surprising him in a strange way.
He didn't expect you to get used to the etiquette, rules and politics that involve royal life so quickly.
He didn't even expect you to get used to it, actually.
However, you even taught Cheka's royal etiquette teacher some tricks!
That's why he wasn't so surprised to see that you and Queen Rose were such good friends, since she values elegance and natural beauty above all else.
As the years went by and the pressures of a royal wedding appeared, it wasn't that Leona didn't already have it in mind, she was just waiting for the right moment.
However, any planning Leona, Ruggie or Falena had for the right moment to happen was thrown out the window when a tiger-like beast of a man flirted with you with the excuse that there was no proof that you were engaged (i.e. no ring on your finger).
And that pissed him off so much that he proposed to you right then and there.
When you said that before the wedding you would like him to meet your family, he found it strange.
Weren't you from another dimension, planet or something?
Taking Leona to Devilton was complicated, but you knew how to get the lion out of its den (this is one of the reasons Kifaji goes after you all the time).
The house of lamentation was reasonable for Leona, maybe small, but it would do.
He knew you had seven siblings, since Falena had asked if you had siblings and how your relationship with them was.
Falena's idea was to say that an older sibling has to take care of the younger ones and that he expected you to understand the expectations that the relationship between the two of you would cause.
He remembers that you said that every day was something new with your siblings and that you never stopped discovering something new about them, since each one had a different personality, it was difficult to understand each one's feelings and thoughts.
And instead of you starting to think about your relationship with Leona, it was Falena who started to think about his relationship with Leona.
For Leona, it was normal to have a feast at every family meal, but it was rare for all the food to be eaten so quickly.
Was your family starving? You had to explain to him that at the beginning of the meal you had to put everything you wanted to eat on your plate, otherwise your older brother Beel would eat it all while you were chewing the third bite.
Leona didn't even need an explanation as to why, since like Beel's introduction previously said, he was the sin of Gluttony, so he would eat constantly.
You introduced him to Satan and Solomon, saying that they were great at chess, but he thought they were similar to Azul and Jade at first.
You said that Barbatos was more like Jade and that Satan acted more formal when meeting someone new.
When Leona understood that all her knowledge of etiquette and social rules had been learned by frequenting a castle in the region, it was as if a piece of the puzzle had been completed.
When Luke said Michael's name, it caught Leona's attention, since you were wearing that guy's ring.
It was Diavolo and Barbatos who had to explain that this ring was like an extremely powerful magic seal and that it would prevent you from losing control of your magic.
You and the others didn't like this subject. It was strange for Leona to see you sharing a giant cow pillow with one of your brothers, Belphie, but he soon fell asleep nearby.
Mammon saw the scene and took photos that he knew you would definitely pay a good price for.
After all, you had said you would take something for Ruggie and why not add the embarrassing photos of Leona as an extra souvenir? It could be a motivation for a certain lazy lion to get out of bed and do his duties.
Okay, Leona is definitely against this anti-nap friendship.
At one of the tourist stops to meet Solomon:
Yuu: *Hands Solomon a potion*
Yuu: Sorry I didn't give it to you sooner, I think it must have worked this time!!
Solomon: Hmm... I see that even after graduating you continue your studies, huh? *shakes the potion to analyze the color*
Leona: *Raises an eyebrow in doubt* what potion is that?
Solomon: An immortality potion *says opening the gafara and drinking a little*
Leona: What?
Yuu: Before I went to NRC and met you, I was sad to know that among everyone in my family, I was the only one who wouldn't live for thousands of years.
Leona: ... an immortality potion would be practically impossible.
Yuu: It's not impossible, Solomon has made it before, I'm just trying to replicate it.
Leona: Have you made it? If it's true, why don't you tell me the recipe?
Solomon: Memories of certain things fade after a few thousand years.
Solomon: Now MC, there's still something missing, I suggest testing it on one of your brothers, I think Mammon would be happy to know there's a chance you could live longer.
Yuu: ....
Leona: So you're after immortality?
Yuu: No, just the recipe for the potion. I don't think it would be worth living in a world without you.
Leona: ....
Leona: You're annoying. *looks away*
Yuu: Yes, I'm your annoying bride! *wink*
Solomon: ...
It was always unusual for Leona to have someone give up something important for him or make an important decision without considering him.
So...
You know, Herbivore, it's not like I care about spending eternity taking care of your shit, but I guess your brothers do care if you're not there to take care of theirs.
Tumblr media
Phew, I'm done!!
I never wrote Jade and Cater, so it might be weird.
Leona is kind of OC too, I think he should be a little more selfish and I don't think he would react that way to seeing Yuu arrive and make friends with everyone when he hasn't been able to in years.
I also think I made Cater more shy, I think that even though he's always smiling and taking pictures, he's still a very different person.
I thought that as the years went by, he would start to act more like himself, although I'm not sure.
And about Jade, I have no idea what came out in the end and if he's similar to Jade.
I always found him very enigmatic.

Would you like an apple? (Sam Claflin as an original character x reader)
His eyes haunt you. The deep pools of green and grey, the intensity with which he looks at you, those eyes see you, the whole of you.
You’ve been drawn to him ever since you first met. Every time he smiles, something stirs in you. Smile as seductive as it is dangerous. You know what he is, you have no illusions. It’s only harmless fun, you reassure yourself. You’ll be able to stop when you’ll need to stop.
But now you dream about him every night, you carry with you the sound of his voice everywhere you go. When you’re together, it’s as if a new dimension opens, a world that you had no idea existed. You tread carefully, allowing yourself to see mere glimpses of it, you pull away before you get in too deep. But where is the line?
Then comes the day when you come to his place, he’s casually leaning against the doorframe, an apple in one hand, and in the other—a knife. The sharp blade glistens in the setting sun, almost blinding you. He smiles at you, as he always does, as he cuts a slice of the apple. He places the slice on the blade and extends his hand, the hand that holds the knife, towards you. “Would you like an apple?”
You look at him and your eyes lock and you know he can see deep inside you, deeper than anyone else ever has. You can say, no thanks and walk away. Or—
You take the piece of fruit, slide it off the blade, and bite into it.
And you know now that there’s no going back…

Do the Republicans in your area give you any grief about being butch?
The first day my girlfriend (at the time) and I moved into our new house in rural Iowa in 1999 we ran a rainbow flag under our American Flag up the shiny new pole my dad and I installed in the front yard. (complete with a light to shine on them at night).
I have been in my home over 24 years and have not experienced any issues at all. I am pretty well known in my community from the Post Master to the Feed Store to the local shops in nearby towns and I only get greeted with "hi" or "good morning".
I work at a farm, I shop at the locker and raw dairy and small town hardware store. I eat at the breakfast cafe in the County seat . I have helped more that one idiot get their truck unstuck from the mud on the B level road next to my pasture.
I actually have no idea where any of my neighbors stand politically and really, it doesn't matter. When one of them needs help with something I am there and when it is time to put up my hay, Kevin from next door is always on hand to help. He takes Red's Apple Ale as payment for his time.
Perhaps it is because we are only 20 minutes from Cedar Rapids and 40 from Iowa City. Maybe because over the years I am just regular site and just one of the locals. I am no threat to their beliefs because I don't care to tell others how to feel and think about my presence in the community. The best gifts I given myself has been to be a good neighbor and customer, confident in who I am, a lesbian and butch woman and to smile and say "hello" when I am out and about.
I am sure it is a combination of being very lucky, living in just the right place and my personality.
There is no way they don't know I am a lesbian. I continue to hang up the rainbow flag in June, a labrys flag in May and one look at me is a dead giveaway with or without noticing my rainbow necklace. My social media is often tagged Iowa so I show up on the feeds of lots of people who don't know me but see me in public and say they follow me.
Iowa, the area of Iowa, I occupy is pretty much a live and let live mind set. No one wants to be told what to think. People appreciate others showing up to help and no one brings up politics during small talks or casual conversations with strangers in line at the DMV.
When the subject has come up or during election season (which seems very often in Iowa) every conversation I have had with others is respectful even in disagreement. I don't get worked up with I see the flaws in the politics of others. It is an argument I can't win if they are going off of false pretense and their minds are firm. So I don't spend the energy unless they really want to listen, which does happen. In turn I listen to them. Listening shows respect but there is no expectation of mind changing.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A few years back, when Kagami and Soshiro were still in the same division, they made a promise to each other.
"You were pretty reckless"
Kagami scolded the purple haired guy laying on the hospital bed with a bandages on his legs. Her words, heavily laced with concern.
"I could say the same with you"
Soshiro side eyed the black haired girl who was laying on the hospital bed besides his own. Her injuries were as bad as his, with the bandages on her head instead of her legs.
Kagami just averted his gaze, focusing instead on the fruits basket placed atop the drawer besides them. She picked up an apple, along with a small knife and plate, and started cutting it.
Soshiro could only sigh at his fiancee's evasiveness, though it did bring back the smile on his face. It wasn't unusual for them to be injured during a mission given their line of work. Most of the time, they'll get a few minor scratches here and there but not enough to guarantee a hospital stay. He was glad she only required a few stitches and that there weren't any lasting effects to her head.
"That, I want mine cut into bunnies"
Soshiro noticed that she finished cutting and requested for her to style it into bunnies. Without question, she did just that. He watched as she struggled to peel only the skin and not the flesh, laughing when she failed to do so.
"It's not funny"
Kagami complained with a pout, knowing full well that her struggling gives him joy. She once again heard his chuckle as she successfully massacred another slice. She looked at the mess in front of her and frowned. Cutting things was easy but peeling them was harder, especially if it's as small as this apple.
She can't complain though, this was one of her duties as his future wife. She's been practicing for this her whole life yet continued to fail over and over again. It didn't mean she'll give up as she uses her failure as her drive to do better.
"Want me to do it?"
Soshiro offered his help, still smiling in amusement as she shook her head no. Every little things she does brings a smile on his face, even something as small as failing to peel an apple properly. He'd find her words and actions as funny no matter how she thinks it isn't. Her reactions are so amusing to him, causing him to not stop trying to tease her.
Thank goodness she was skilled enough not to cut her fingers though or else he would've snatched that knife faster than she could react. No way he'd allow her to be hurt on his watch. It was already unfortunate enough for them to be in different squads thus resulting in their current situation, had he known he would've done better.
"I'm done"
Kagami declared and ate the massacred apple slices by herself.
"Wait, wait! I thought that was for me?"
Soshiro tried to stop her from eating it all and not leaving some for him.
"It was... but it's ugly so I can't give it to you"
Kagami was kinda upset she didn't get to make apple bunnies properly so she decided to eat it as to not waste food.
"Feed it to me"
Soshiro, in all seriousness with open eyes, demanded she stop and feed it all to him. No way he's letting all her hard work go to waste. She cut and peeled it for him so he'll eat it no matter what.
"W-what?"
Kagami was surprised at his sudden demand. She couldn't resist him, especially not when he opens his eyes to show her how serious he is.
"I said feed it to me~"
With a mischevious grin, he was back to his foxy attitude. He opened his mouth in an 'ahhh', showcasing his want to be fed.
"Y-you can do it yourself!"
Flustered, Kagami tried to look away. Offering him the entire plate so he could eat by himself.
"But my legs are injured and I can't move"
His eyes were closed but how was it possible to see him making puppy eyes at her? Paired with that pout, a fox like him acted like a sad dog.
"You can move your hands though"
Resist. Resist the temptations Kagami! Do not move your hands! Stop moving your hands!
"Ahhh~"
Opening his mouth, Soshiro was successfully fed by the red faced Kagami. His purple eyes bore holes into Kagami's own as he teasingly licked his own lips as an expression.
"Yum~"
Uzui Kagami.exe has stopped working.
"Excuse me but can you do your flirting elsewhere? The rest of us wants to sleep in peace"
A random officer mustered his courage to speak up. He tried to hide his flustered face by pretending to cough. The rest of the officer were looking away from them, red in the face, yet still nodded in agreement.
Kagami dropped the plate she was holding and teleported inside the blankets of her own bed. The plate of apples was fortunately caught by cackling Soshiro who was well aware of their audience.
Nobody said they were the only ones in the room hehe.
.
"Kagami? Why are you still here?"
Kagami, who was discharged yesterday, came back the next day to take care of her fiance.
"I took a day off"
"Why?"
Surprised by her actions, Soshiro couldn't help by ask why she would specifically ask for a day off when she's never done so before. Also, he was supposed to be discharged later today.
"I want to take care of you... because you're my fiancee"
"Then next time, I'll be the one to take care of you"
~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~~•~•~•~
Whenever Soshiro visits the hospital, he thinks of that moment fondly. When they were still rookies, they would sometimes end up getting injured thus resulted in taking care of each other. Now that they were a bit more experienced, they no longer had to take care of each other in the hospital. It was better that way as it signifies that they were healthy and safe.
Still, as he reads the newspaper on his hospital bed, he couldn't help but let his mind wander in his wish to have his fiancee be there to take care of him. It was fine though, cause he didn't know how to break the news of him moving to the Third Division to her just yet. Also, he never really told her he got injured during his visit there.
When Captain Ashiro and Platoon Leader Ebina visited him earlier, he thought it was her. He was a bit disappointed but the offer they brought was enough to lift his spirits. He'd been wanting this for a long time. Someone who recognizes his efforts and need his strength. Somewhere he would be needed and not be treated like a tumor.
Kagami had always been by his side, supporting him, and finally there was someone else who believes in him like her. He wants her to join him there so they could leave the past and look forward.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door and a familiar head peek inside. Soshiro saw the face of the person he'd been expecting to see the whole time. His heart fluttered when he saw her after thinking about her like he manifested her visit.
"I'm sorry I'm late. There was a long line at the cafe so it took a bit too long to buy this"
She headed inside and showed him something she was hiding on her back. In her hands was a small box with a dessert inside.
"Is that what I think it is?"
"Yeah. Mont Blanc!"
Kagami mirrored his excitement and confirmed his thoughts. She immediately prepared it for him, getting a plate and taking the dessert out of the box. She carefully placed it so as to not destroy its looks and offered it to him, which he accepted gratefully.
"By the way, I saw Captain Ashiro exiting the hospital earlier. Who do you think she visited here?"
Once she passed him the dessert, she took a seat at the chair beside him. He also took a bite before answering.
"Oh that, Remember how I went to the Third Division for a meeting? This and that happened and Captain Ashiro asked me to join the Third Division"
Soshiro recounted the story of what happened as soon as he got to the Third Division, the sudden appearance of a kaiju and how he helped with it, how he saved that kid and them being saved by Captain Mina, then the lastly, the offer given to him by the captain. Kagami attentively listened to his tales, reacting appropriately during significant parts. Soshiro greatly appreciates her lending an ear.
"Oh really? What was your answer?"
Finally, Kagami asked him what his answer to the offer was. It was something he had to prepare himself first before telling her as it was a big decision.
"I said yes"
Soshiro was filled with certainty at his decision. He didn't know how she'd react but he wanted to ask her to be with him as he moved too.
"Kagami, do you--"
Soshiro was cut off by an excited Kagami.
"Congrats! That's amazing! I knew there would be someone else who will recognize how great you are! I didn't think it would be THE Captain Ashiro Mina herself!"
She was so hyped up, so happy for him that he couldn't help but chuckle fondly. The tension he felt earlier disappeared and was replaced by fondness, feeling incredibly light.
"I'm sad that you'll be leaving but this is your chance to show the people from our division that they never should've underestimated you"
Her smile dropped once she thought that him moving was him leaving her alone. But still, she was smiling.
"Do you want to come with me? Captain Ashiro said her offer extends to you, as well"
Soshiro with greater courage now, seeing her smile drop, wanted to lift her spirits up. If he's moving to a better place, he wanted her to come with him too. At least they'll be together and won't be sad.
"Ehh? Really?? She's offering me to join the Third Division too???"
Surprised, Kagami couldn't believe her ears. Even her eyes as he nodded to affirm her words were true.
"Yeah, so what do you say?"
Soshiro turned back to his Mont Blanc to finally finish it as there only a few bites left. In doing so, he couldn't notice the storm brewing in Kagami's eyes.
"I'm sorry but I will have to decline"
Soshiro almost choked at her flat-out refusal. She offered him water in which he gratefully drank. He didn't think she'd refuse him like this. Sure she'd have doubts but usually she's agree with him.
"Why?"
Kagami took her time to answer and Soshiro found it hard to read her in that moment. Just when he started to think that something might be wrong, she looked him in the eyes with a determined expression.
"I also want to be recognized by my skills and not just because of goodwill. I want to prove myself to her so she'd be the one asking me to join herself"
While he didn't think she'd refuse him earlier, her explanation made a lot of sense. He'd refuse her too if it was him in her position. He only got this far because she and he believed in himself. They've both been doing their best to be the best version of themselves hoping someone will notice their efforts. So he wanted to believe she can do the same too.
"If it's you, I know you can do it"
Filled with the confidence that she shared with him, he ruffled her hair as they shared a hearty laugh.
They spent the entire day with each other. Kagami taking care of him until it was time to leave and Soshiro not wanting her to leave at all cuz he's such a baby when it comes to her. He didn't have to worry though cuz her days off lasted until he got better.
~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~~•~•~•~
True to her words, Kagami finally got someone else to see just what she is made of. While it may not be the captain of the Third Division that she caught the eye of, it was still a significant someone. That someone being the previous captain of the First Division and now the Director General of the Defense Force, Shinomiya Isao. It took a long time but she was finally there.
It wasn't an exaggeration to say that being in the First Division was hard. With everyone exceeding expectations by being capable of eliminating honjus on their own, the stakes are really high. Especially for a recently promoted Platoon Leader like Kagami, who didn't know just when she'll be kicked out. She wonders why she got promoted at all despite there people being stronger than her in the First Division.
It also wasn't an exaggeration that the kaijus appearing near the Ariake Maritime Base were stronger than most. So when the new recruits in her squad finally had their first mission, she had to be more alert than ever. Cuz new recruits are prone to danger, like the one she just saved from accidentally killing himself. Unfortunately for her, being around danger means she's also prone to getting injured.
"I'm really sorry, Platoon Leader Uzui!"
The new recruit she saved once again bowed down in front of her. He was the reason her left arm is in a cast, letting it heal naturally. It was an accident where a hidden yoju suddenly appeared catching them off guard. Kagami chose to prioritize her subordinate's safety than hers which lead to the current situation.
The application of using the regenerative ability of the kaijus in medical treatments was still being researched and is currently in its experimental stages, thus making it exclusive only to Defense Force higher ups.
Being a Platoon Leader, Kagami was lucky enough to be able to take part in it. Instead of suffering from a mangled arm requiring surgery, the treatment made it possible for her arm to heal quickly by mending her broken bones. In the end, it is still required for her to heal naturally and not move it much.
"Don't worry about it. I'm just glad you're safe. I don't want my subordinates to get hurt under my watch"
Kagami reassured the officer in front of her by placing her right hand on his arm. The officer was overwhelmed by the kindness she's showing that caused him to be emotional.
"Platoon Leader..."
"If you're really sorry, make sure you work hard to get stronger from now on"
Knowing what she said wasn't enough to remove his guilt, she encouraged him to be better.
"Yes, ma'am!"
The soldier saluted and finally left her alone. Kagami was about to leave as well when Vice Captain Hasegawa approached her. She greeted him with a salute and he nodded in return.
"You are as kind as ever, Platoon Leader Kagami. I know you want to save as many people as possible but you should not sabotage your health"
He complimented her, referencing about her interaction with an officer. He also scolded her for getting injured badly in concern.
"My apologies, sir. Umm... Is there something wrong? Is Captain Narumi causing trouble again?"
She gave a sheepish smile knowing she'll do it again if it mean saving someone. Though she couldn't help but noticed the troubled expression on his face which only means one thing: Captain Narumi.
"Somewhat. It has something to do with your visitor"
"Eh?"
Captain Narumi was causing trouble because of her visitor? But she wasn't expecting anyone to come visit her? Also, she didn't understand why the Vice Captain himself would tell her the news.
"You'll understand soon enough. Follow me"
Noticing her confusion, Vice Captain Hasegawa led her to where Captain Narumi and her visitor were.
As they got closer to the meeting room, she could hear Captain Narumi's boisterous voice. It was so loud that she didn't have to strain her ears to know that it was him. And there was also a familiar laughter coming inside the room. There's no way...
When Vice Captain Hasegawa opened the door for them to enter, she finally understood why Captain Narumi was reacting that way. Her fiancee, Vice Captain Hoshina Soshiro, was sitting in front of her Captain. His smug smile and foxy expression was clear enough for her to know that he's been teasing the guy the whole time.
"Vice Captain Hoshina?"
"Ahhh, you're here?"
Soshiro averted his gaze at his self-proclaimed rival to look at his fiancee, pointedly staring at her casted arm. His smile, straining a little bit with a frown.
"Today, I am here to request that Platoon Leader Uzui Kagami take a day off from work while she heals"
He finally revealed his intentions after seeing the two sitting down. Captain Narumi and Vice Captain Hasegawa were shocked at his request. They were expecting something else and didn't stop to think of such an absurd reason.
"Haaaa??? Who are you to ask for that with my Platoon Leader, haaa??"
Captain Narumi, having composed himself first grew more irritated. How could his rival talk for his Platoon Leader like that? His friend has a mind of her own and can request to rest by herself. He knew she was injured and wanted her to rest himself but having his rival demand that bring a bad taste to his mouth. It's not like he's forcing him to work, damn it.
"I'll say it in word you can understand. My fiancee is hurt and I demand you let her rest"
Fiancee?? They turned their heads to look at the blushing woman, embarrassed for being the source of this mess and the attention she's getting.
"Don't tell me you specifically came here just to ask that?"
She tried to compose herself by looking his way. Surely that wasn't the sole reason he came here?
"Of course, you wouldn't do so otherwise. Ah don't worry, I got permission to leave from Captain Ashiro so I could take care of you"
That's it. That's the end of her. How could he say such things so calmly in front of her superiors? She's sure as hell this would reach the ears of the whole division and they would not let her live it down. She couldn't even hide her face cause her free hand is too small to cover it.
"I have paperwork"
"That's fine. You can just bring it home and I'll help you"
Kagami can't do this anymore. Her superiors are digging holes into her and her fiancee's finds it too amusing to help her.
"Captain, Vice Captain, can I request for a leave until I heal enough to get back to work?"
Kagami asked for permission herself, trying to save herself despite it being a futile attempt. There's no stopping Soshiro when he's this stubborn.
"I'll grant you paid leave"
Vice Captain Hasegawa felt pity for his subordinate, who clearly want to bury herself in a hole, thus granting her wish.
"Thank you, sir"
Kagami stood up as fast as she could and left to go to her room. She ignore the curious glances thrown her way by confused onlookers, who rarely get to see her running and flustered.
Soshiro who was left inside the room stared at his rival, who was uncharacteristically quiet. He felt pity and at the same time doesn't for he knows what the male in front of him feels for his fiancee.
His phone vibrated indicating that he received a message.
"I'm heading down soon. Meet me at the lobby. Also, please stop torturing my Captain"
"Well then, i guess I'll have to leave now too"
Soshiro stood up and said his goodbyes and thanks as he pocketed his phone. He's looking forward to the spending the rest of the day, and the days after that with his fiancee.

Obikin Jindokin Art by Kana7o
Tumblr media
New Jindokin art by the amazing @kana7o!
I shared this idea a few months ago on Twitter. An idea where Anakin is a Jindo shapeshifter rescued by a teenage Obi-Wan in some sort of a modern AU (or something). This idea hit me so hard that I had to get Kana to draw them for me, and she did so beautifully! The art is right after the Battle of the Bath, and little Jindokin is snoozing away in the warmth of Obi-Wan's lap, feeling loved and protected.
Here's the link to the original Twitter thread and I've also copied it here under the cut for those who are interested. Seriously, Jindokin is my new love :D
Tumblr media
Puppy Jindokin
My new Obikin idea involves Anakin as a Jindo shapeshifter (look at me embracing my Korean heritage!) who is rescued by a teenage Obi-Wan. Anakin and Shmi are living on the streets of Coruscant in their Jindo forms, and they run into some malicious individuals out to hurt them.
Shmi fights back and protects her son, and they manage to escape, but not without a cost. In a dark alleyway, Shmi dies from her injury, and Anakin, now all alone, cries and refuses to leave her for the next couple of days, not caring that he is cold, hungry, and thirsty.
It is Anakin's sorrowful cries that bring Obi-Wan to the alleyway, who usually wanders around Corsucant after school (he attends the prestigious Jedi Academy) to avoid returning to an empty house because his foster father, Qui-Gon, is always away on business trips.
Obi-Wan takes careful steps towards Anakin, aware that an alleyway is never a safe place. As he gets closer, he sees the puppy's mother, and his heart immediately goes to the little orphaned puppy. Anakin, despite his weakened state, snarls and growls at him to stay away.
That doesn't deter Obi-Wan, for he crouches near Anakin and says, "It's okay, dear one. I'm not going to hurt you. Shhh, it's okay." Anakin doesn't get the message, and he tries to snap at the strange boy, but he falls over and whimpers as he cries for his mother.
Obi-Wan reaches into his pocket and pulls out some apple slices he didn't finish from lunch, and he places one in front of Anakin, who stares at it with hungry eyes. Obi-Wan smiles and gently says, "Eat. You can have it." Anakin tentatively licks it before scarfing it down.
Obi-Wan gives him more apples, but Anakin ignores it and only returns to Shmi's side, and he nudges her with his little nose, whining at her to wake up. Obi-Wan's heart breaks at this scene. "I'm sorry, little one." Anakin cries, while Obi-Wan watches for a bit longer.
Obi-Wan then offers, "If you are okay with it, let's find her a safe place to bury her, and then you can come home with me. Would you like that?" Both the puppy and the boy stare at each other for a few minutes before Anakin whimpers in acquiescence.
Taking off his jacket, Obi-Wan gently wraps it around Shmi and picks her up along with Anakin. He walks them over to a nearby park, and he chooses a quiet spot to bury Shmi. Anakin sits and watches as Obi-Wan does the deed. When Obi-Wan finishes, he picks Anakin up.
Anakin starts to whine and cry, and Obi-Wan knows that Anakin doesn't want to leave his mother. Obi-Wan coos at him and promises him that they can come here together every day, but first Anakin needs care, food, and shelter. Obi-Wan holds Anakin against his chest and heads home.
Once home, Obi-Wan gives Anakin some food and water. Next, he gives Anakin a bath, who hates the entire process. Obi-Wan can't help but chuckle at the never-ending whining. The way Anakin tries his best to escape from the sink, soap, and water is something he will never forget.
After the Battle of the Bath, with Anakin all clean, he lets out a long yawn as he sleepily snuggles into his new master's cosy lap. He is now safe, no longer cold and wet, and his belly is full of good food. He knows that he has found a good place. He has found a new home.
Many years later, Obi-Wan discovers Anakin's secret of being a shapeshifter. He's in for a huge surprise when he wakes up one day and finds human Anakin in his bed, but that's another story for another day. This is all about Obi-Wan and Jindokin and how they find each other.

Lily
@prongsfoot-microfic
Dedicated to the lovely @shivstar and my own dear Prongs @rosemelodyshah
-------
"And, who's the first?"
It was a casual question, and Lily knew the answer. She turned away with the dish.
Thus, she missed James' sheepish face as he replied, "Sirius."
Lily stopped, her slipper halfway across the tile. She locked eyes with James in the mirror above the basin. "Sirius?"
"Yeah", James sipped his black coffee, glancing at Sirius beside him. He hid a smile behind his own cup.
Lily looked away from the mirror and bent to the basin, washing away the pie crumbs on the plate. "I hadn't expected that. I didn't know you..."
"Could bake?" Sirius smiled. "I can't. But Prongsie was craving apple pie. I snuck into the kitchen and stole what I thought were the ingredients." He laughed, rippling and blue. "Guess what they were?"
"Eggs, flour and apples." James was laughing too. "He mashed and baked it in an open fire...in a cauldron."
Lily smiled weakly, privately horrified. "And that got first place? Better than your mom?" Or me?
"It had Paddy's touch." Jame nudged him with his shoulder affectionately. "He could serve up spaghetti with fish sauce and it would be the baar spaghetti I've ever had."
Lily saw Sirius blush in the mirror. She bent to the cabinet under the sink with last night's leftovers. Some spaghetti was left at the bottom. She dumped it out and washed it.
"I couldn't get a cookbook", Sirius said apologetically.
"That made it special." James shrugged, slinging an arm over his shoulder as he reached over to take his plate. He came to the sink and put it down, smiling at Lily. Lily smiled back, tightly.
"Did you actually eat the apple contraption?"
"I couldn't hurt his feelings", he winked at Sirius over his shoulder, who made a face.
"You guys are so sweet, like an old married couple!" Lily exclaimed, dumping out the leftover pie in the dustbin.
Sirius grinned. "We are."
"Besides, he did all that. He literally stole the ingredients under the Head Elf's watch. And snuck into the Potions classroom. Of course I loved it. Of course I love him." James had left Lily's side, and was chokehold-hugging Sirius from behind the chair.
I got up at 5 today.
"You really need to stop embarrassing me in front of your wife." Sirius wrapped an arm around him fondly.
"James, can you stay in and help remove this mirror?" Lily called out. "It'd look better in the sitting room."
"Tomorrow, dear. I and Paddy have plans today."
Lily slammed down the dish. "Have fun. I need go write a letter."
She left the room. James didn't really notice.
In their bedroom, she found the writing desk. The pad was empty, the ink was at its dregs. James had gone through all the pages writing long, detailed letters to Sirius about every mundane household thing. Lily had seen the replies. Sirius had specifically responded to ever single thing James had gushed about. How sweet. How thoughtful.
There was an unsealed envelope beside the pad. It was the letter James had written last night, planned to post today, before Sirius payed a surprise and definitely unauthorised visit to him. Lily hesitated, then pulled out and unfolded the letter.
Dear Sirius,
I miss you. How I miss you! I sit down for breakfast, lunch, supper (I'm never at home for dinner these days, always some fad at the Order) and I'm always staring out the window at the front wall of the house (have I told you about the new curtains? They are grey with polka dots. Lily didn't like them very much but I insisted on them, they look just like your eyes) hoping you will appear. I'm rambling, of course. I'm not in my right mind, I feel crazy without you. I wish you would come live with us. The guest room isn't ready yet, but we could curl up on the floor with the sleeping bags (the ones we got for Quidditch final in 7th Year) and watch the stars. The window faces the backyard, y'know. It's beautiful. Lily can take the bedroom.
No, honestly, I'm happy with Lily. It feels like a constant adrenaline rush. I finally won her over! But I miss you. I wish you'd visit. I need to feel your arm around my shoulder, I need to hear you laugh, I need to feel your knuckles under my thumb. I need you, love. I wish you'd come. I miss you like a limb. You're always the first thing on my mind when I wake up and my last waking thought before I sleep. Sometimes, I even dream of you (crazy, I know). I hold a pillow pretending its you and that I'm back in the dorm and it's Fifth Year and everything is fine. I wish I could feel that safety again. I can't tell Lily, but I'm so scared, Sirius. I'm scared of dying. I'm scared that one day I will die in a solo mission and I won't see you again. I wish I hadn't joined the Order. Of course, I want to fight. But sometimes, when I think of you and me and how we used to joke about sharing a red-bricked house with a picket fence with a swing in a kitchen garden, I can't help but be selfish. Are ideals worth more than you? I don't know, I honestly don't know...
Well, I'm all out of paper. Seems like writing letters to you is all I do nowadays. Dumbledore is pressuring me to spend more time with Lily. I love her, but I need some space too. He keeps insisting on knowing when we are having kids. It's so odd and uncomfortable, how is it any of his business? And I don't want kids. Who has kids in war? Lily wants a daughter. I want a damn cat and you. I'm starting to detest Order meetings because of all these wrangles now. But I'll always attend them. I get to see you. I'd attend a conference in hell (that's what the meetings are these days) to see you. Don't forget me in your roomie bliss with Peter, okay? I love you.
Always,
Your James.
Lily put back the letter and fetched a new pad of paper from the shelf. She looked at the dregs of the ink. It would be enough. She sat down to write.
Dear Sev—
Lily got up and put on a jacket. She had to go out and buy some ink. She would need it.

Immortality - Yandere!Thor x Pregnant!Reader
Tumblr media
(Inspired from Welcome to Yandereland's Thor Masterlist and Mythology)
It's been almost 2 weeks since Thor kept you in Asgard and Loki's betrayal that he will help you go back to Earth, Thor never let you go without him or his guards just because he does not want you to escape since Loki's help.
Thor tried to satisfy you in every way just to keep you in Asgard and to himself, he tried to spoil you like his queen or cuddles, but nothing worked, then one thing came to his mind, when you will have an Asgard heir in your belly, you will never leave Asgard.
So Thor every night made love to you, and every day he would call the healer if she is expecting a baby, and they told him that you do not. That upsets Thor, he loves you so much and he would be happy if he will be a father of your childrens.
Weeks passed and Heimdall advised him to pray for Iðunn, because he knew that you are an mortal and he knew how much Thor loves you so why not ask Iðunn for an apple that can make you an immortal and a goddess, that way Thor's wish of having you close and having a child with you as a big chance.
So from that day Thor starts to pray for Iðunn for her help until one day she appeared in front of him and asked him why does he wants the golden apples for the mortal that is you, to make you immortal.
Thor answered "(Y/N) is the love of my life, her mortality is the problem to be with her forever, my sweet queen is kind, sweet, and my everything and want her to rule Asgard by my side, I can't love anyone else if she dies, she is the only thing I love".
Iðunn thinked for a moment as she saw the light in his eyes when he mentioned you and the truth in his words, gave him and you her blessings, then gave him a one golden apple and advised him to place an apple seed to the ground after you eat the entirety of the apple.
Thor thanked Iðunn and walked to his room where you were sleeping in his bed, blanket covering your body, only your head was poking from the blanket, he finds it cute, he quietly sits next to your sleeping body and kissed your forehead.
"Wake up my sleeping beauty" he whispered to your ear, you slowly woke up and see him smiling at you while holding a golden apple "I was walking around our castle and saw some apples, and I was thinking that you could be hungry for some, so I got you this apple" he lied but he sounded like a sweetheart.
You thanked him and told him you weren't hungry, but your stomach was growling with hunger, he chuckled and handed you the golden apple.
You smiled and ate the golden apple and thanked him as you handed him the rest of the apple that is where the seeds are shown, he smiled and let you sleep again, as he walked outside to plant one of the apple seeds to the ground.
He waited for the effect of the immortality in you for almost 4 hours and then the effect worked. Thor was happy that you could live forever with him by his side and rule Asgard.
One month later the healers informed Thor that you are expecting two heirs, Thor was exited about that and thanked Iðunn as he prepared a nursery room for the babies and had two named for them for a girl or two girls Thrud and Vör, for a boy or two boys Móði and Magni.

No joke, I think dungeon meshi has seriously impacted my desire to be healthy for the better. A very long and heartfelt (but spoiler free) essay is under the cut.
I have Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder. Because of my OCD, some foods are safe and some are not and I would literally rather starve than eat an unsafe food (i know because it happened once on a trip to Switzerland). This means I mostly eat chicken nuggets, buttered noodles, donuts, soda, the like. The only vegetable I can eat is cooked broccoli and the only fruit I can eat is apples (smoothies not withstanding).
I'm also physically disabled in a way that makes it hard for me to exercise or do physical activity, not to mention how my ADHD and Depression fuck with that as well. I'm 'lucky'* in that I have a genetic disposition towards being very thin and probably will stay that way until I'm in my 40s (my dad was exactly the same at my age).
So I eat mostly junk food and I sit at my computer all day every day and for a long time, I've been happy with that. When I tell people about my Eating Disorder, they usually say "oh, is there a way to fix it?" and my answer is always "why would I want to?" Its not like an allergy or a medical dietary restriction. I don't LIKE any of the foods I can't eat. I don't have any reason to want to learn how to eat them.
Besides health reasons of course. I know in my head that not eating any vegetables isn't good for me but I also know that I don't really want to eat them and, for most of my adulthood, I've lived with the mindset that I think a lot of people my age have where they hear so many people say 'just eat well and exercise!' as a solution to every problem and so they tend to hate the idea of doing that. The health industry is full of too many people who are fatphobic assholes or who think a green smoothie can cure your depression for good or who just want your money or whatever and I hate that. And so I've kind of felt above exercise and nutrition.
But then I read Dungeon Meshi.
Even in the beginning, the manga was super inspiring. The way Senshi talks about taking care of your body so you can go on adventures makes it sound like something I might want to do. So much of today's health advice is shame based and, as someone who grew up in and left a high demand control group, I work hard not to tolerate shame in my life. But Dungeon Meshi posits a new view of health and nutrition, one that is centered in love for the self, love for your friends, and love for your food. It resonated with me in a way that I really wasn't expecting it to.
Over the last few years, I've been working really hard to become a compassionate person. This year, my new goal is learning to turn that compassion inward and I've been trying to do that in several different ways. When I finished reading Dungeon Meshi I knew that one of those ways was going to have to be improving my diet and exercise.
I want to be able to go on adventures (as tame and simple as they may be). I want to live as long as possible to spend time with my loved ones. I want to be able to walk around and exist without pain for as much of that time as I can. I want to love my body and act accordingly, making sure it is well fed and cared for. Hell, I've always loved the idea of cooking but haven't had the energy to really learn, especially since I can't eat most foods, but now the idea of taking the time to cultivate a skill like that, one that I can be proud of and that can be used to care for my friends, fills me with a sense of hope and excitement.
So thank you Dungeon Meshi, and thank you Ryoko Kui. If you haven't read the manga, I highly recommend that you do.
*by lucky I mean that my diet hasn't forced me to deal with the stigma that comes with being fat. I have no idea what kinds of problems it's been causing that I just can't see. I am not saying that it would be bad if I were fat, just that not being thin would mean I faced a lot more stigma and discrimination in my life, which is bad.

hi for the ask game,,, can I learn a bit more about Kat,,, specifically with 🧐 and 🍝 (yes I know the obvious answer for the latter but like. does she like any other foods)
This one has been sitting in my drafts for a while. I finished it, saved it before adding tags, and then completely forgot about it lmaooo
🧐- Is your OC more logical or emotional?
Ough. That's a tough one. I'd say overall, Kat is more logical. She's been on the run for long enough that she knows what to do to survive, and she HAS to do that. If she slips up, even once, and word gets out she's a shapeshifter, that's a death sentence. She has to constantly balance staying completely inconspicuous with getting enough nutrients to keep herself in human form- basically, balance being a normal human with having to kill people to live. And because of that, she is very logical.
However, that's offset by the fact that if Kat ever gets in an emotional state, it's awful. Every now and then the stress just punches her in the face and she has a complete breakdown. These are few and far in between (though become more common during her time with Paisley&Crew, since they help her learn to manage her emotions better), but are often so bad she'll be in this mood for hours, even days. And, since at some point, she always has to go back to trying to survive- the more logical thought process- Kat never gets the time or ability to really recover from those breakdowns, which means the stress keeps building more and more until the next. Rinse and repeat.
🍝- What is/are your OC's favourite food(s)?
Haha. Well
Besides the obvious answer (To be fair she does that mostly to survive, she doesn't enjoy it much), Kat... doesn't actually eat that much. There are very few foods she can eat that won't mess up her body composition and appearance, and it's hard enough to stay as a human without other foods messing that up. So that immediately rules out a lot of fruits, veggies, meats, dairies- basically anything that is naturally grown or animal product will mess up her composition.
However, that doesn't mean she can't eat anything else! A lot of processed foods, which have had nutrients taken out/altered, won't affect her enough for it to be an issue! My current scale for how much food affects her depends on how close that food is to it's natural state- so an apple freshly picked from the tree will fuck her up, apple pie or applesauce won't affect her as much. So thank goodness Kat lives in America, land of the overly processed foods!
Rest of the answer below the cut, since this is getting long and I'll be talking about Kat's actual eating habits (TW: cannibalism)
Which. To be fair overly processed food fucking sucks and if I had to rely on McDonald's burgers to live I would also resort to cannibalism
The issue with Kat is that she's stuck between eating highly-processed garbage food, which sucks but at least it won't mess up her composition, and eating human flesh, which tastes delicious but also requires illegalities to acquire. Remember kids: cannibalism isn't illegal, it's how you procure the meat that is.
I really do think that, despite how much she hates it, Kat will always prefer the flesh, organs, bones, and/or other vitals of whatever species she's disguised as over any "normal" food she can eat. Because bodies are filled with a bunch of tasty nutrients that her body needs in order to keep a consistent form, and processed foods don't have those! Where else is she gonna find food that tastes good?
I think it's best described as that feeling you have when you're craving awful food. Like it's late at night and a shitty hotdog or fast food burger sounds fantastic and you buy one and it is the best thing you've ever eaten. That's how Kat feels about cannibalism. Under normal circumstances (her body at a standard composition with enough nutrients to maintain that form), she's disgusted with the idea of eating human meat and will go out of her way to avoid it. But when she's hungry (low on nutrients and struggling to keep a consistent form), human flesh is absolutely fucking delicious.
I mean, she probably thinks human meat is delicious either way. It's just a matter of moralities, and whether or not she needs it to survive in the moment.
But, to finally answer your question: Kat is a very big fan of sushi! Raw fish fucks her up extremely bad, but she doesn't care. As long as she eats it in moderation and not very often, she can recover quick enough. She also has a very big sweet tooth, especially for cake-like substances like muffins (<-Which can often come ultra-processed, so she can eat them with minimal problems), brownies, and cakes.

The Philosophy of the Rosebird
(Raven has passed out for some reason, with Zwei sniffing at her. Then…)
???: There you are, you little dickens! I’ve been looking all over for you!
(Summer Rose comes in, picks up Zwei and starts cuddling him.)
Summer: Have you been a good doggie for the bandit queen? Have you?
Raven: (Staring in shock) Suh…Summer? Is that you?
Summer: Tough to say, actually. (I don’t think they’ve been feeding you enough, Zwei. Have they?) I mean, this is obviously a dream. I’m not physically here. But I might really be the spirit of the late Summer Rose, appearing to you from beyond the grave in your sleep. Or, I'm a tiny personified piece of the magical curse afflicting you, making my influence known through the medium of dreams. Or maybe I'm just a fever-induced hallucination. Who knows?
Raven: So, is there any point to all of this?
Summer: It’s a dream, how much “point” do you really expect?
Raven: Enough to justify this dream not featuring Taiyang in a hot tub instead of your tiny butt.
Summer: Hmm, fair enough. I’m here to help.
Raven: You’re going to give me power to destroy Salem and Oz? YES!
Summer: Oh, my, no. I can't do that, I'm probably just a figment of your imagination. No, I'm going to give you some broad unsolicited advice in the hopes that it will change how you live your life.
(The women are now dressed as their respective daughters)
Summer: Plus, you're looking after my girls. If you flake out on life, Yang and Ruby will only have Tai and Qrow to depend on.
Raven: So what’ the advice? ‘Don’t obey immortal wizards’? Because I think I figured that one out on my own already.
(Summer and Raven are in a classroom. Raven is at a student’s desk, wearing a dunce cap. Summer is standing before the blackboard, wearing an academic hat. Zwei is balancing an apple on his nose)
Summer: No, the wisdom is simply this: Play the game.
(Switch to an arcade, Summer and Raven are playing the fighting game Ruby normally plays)
Raven: Uh, OK, but I thought we weren't actually representing a game campaign, we were just living in a world where the laws of— Summer: Not THIS game! Raven: Oh, whew!
(The scene switches to a the trio on the playing board of The Game of Life. Summer’s head is on a playing piece in a blue car, Raven and Zwei on playing pieces lying around outside the car.)
Summer: I mean The Game, the big one. The one that each of us plays every day when we get out of bed, put on our face, and go out into the world. Some of us play to get ahead, some of us just want to get through the day without breaking character. It's called "Civilization" No, wait, there's already a game called that... OK, it's called "Society."
(The scene switches to Raven lying on a couch eating Cheetos, with Zwei licking at her fingers. Summer is standing over her. Grey figures sit around a table in the background. All three return to their normal forms.)
Summer: Your problem is that you don't want to play the game at all, you want to sit on the couch and eat Cheetos while everyone else is playing. Raven: Well, why shouldn't I? What's the point of their Society, anyway? It never did anything for me. Summer: The point is that if you laugh and spit in their faces enough times, they'll kick you out of the house. Which in this extended metaphor means killing you.
(Raven has taken her bird form)
Raven: So, what, you're saying that the only alternative is to show up and play by everyone else's stupid rules?? Summer: Of course not, my feathery friend. You can cheat. The Tree knows that I always did.
(the three are now seated around a gambling table. Various cards, dice, and poker chips are strewn about)
Summer: Nudge die rolls, palm cards, "forget" penalties...but you have to sit down to play first. As long as the people at the table see a fellow player across from them, they'll tolerate you. A crooked player is a pain in the ass, but someone who refuses to play at all makes them start questioning their own lives and people HATE to think. They'd rather lose to a cheater, than dwell too long on why they're playing in the first place.
(Both Raven and Summer are now marching in lines full of emotionless clones of themselves.)
Raven: So, you're saying that if I can trick all of the other mindless drones into believing that I subscribe to their arbitrary moral framework, they'll just leave me alone? Summer: They all assumed I followed Ozpin’s Code, didn't they? Raven: That makes so much sense...I finally understand what it is I need to be doing! In order to make it in this world—
(The women and Zwei are normal again)
Raven: —I need to pretend to have character growth! Summer: That "faking sincerity" bit is a pretty useful trick, too.

I really loved the sick drabble you did with Marshall and Lawrence ❤️ can you pleeease do a sequel? Maybe Lawrence really doesn't want his son to get better and keep him delusional... 👀
CW: Parental/creepy whumper, drugging, sickness (through being drugged), platonic bathing, infantilizing behavior, food, affectionate nicknames, crying, delirium
Lawrence glances in the living room to see Marshall disinterestedly staring at the TV playing cartoons. He doesn't care Marshall looks so bored, at least he's watching them. He knows if Marshall knew Lawrence saw him watching them, he'd insist he wasn't. He decides since it's getting late, this would be the best time, because in the morning, it'd seem less strange for Marshall to get sick again. It wouldn't seem as suspiciously sudden.
He prepares Marshall's food, as well as some apple juice, which luckily he knows Marshall enjoys. He puts the crushed dust of the pill in, and takes a small sip. It's not that noticeable. He's done his research, and everything should come into effect two to eight hours later. It's just enough inauspicious to work without Marshall becoming set on accusing him of anything.
"Time for dinner, buddy!" Lawrence calls from the kitchen.
Slowly, Marshall trudges in. He just got over that fever yesterday, and Lawrence can't say he doesn't miss Marshall's dependence… how he called him Dad. He hopes this'll make him just as if not more dependent. He hopes Marshall will call him Dad again. He'd give anything to hear that word from his mouth again.
"I made garlic and chicken potatoes." He puts the plate in front of Marshall, then the glass of apple juice. He prepares himself some of the food as well, then sits across from him and starts eating. He tries not to make it obvious he's staring at Marshall, waiting to see him sip the apple juice. He hopes it's not noticeable.
Marshall first takes a sip of the apple juice, and Lawrence quickly averts his gaze. After a couple of seconds, he glances up again to see Marshall picking up his fork, unknowing.
Dinner goes fairly smoothly after that. They don't speak much, even if Lawrence wants to ask how he's feeling, but he doesn't know if that'll be suspicious. If everything goes as planned, Marshall won't even have the ability to think that hard about it in a few hours from now, but he just wants to play things safe, in case things go wrong.
He wishes he did some research about how effective it'd be if crushed into apple juice, but he didn't think of it.
"I'm gonna go to bed now," Marshall mumbles, putting his dish and empty glass away. Despite how Marshall makes it clear he isn't content with any of this, he always maintains his manners. One of the many things Lawrence loves about him.
Lawrence smiles. "Want me to tuck you in?" He knows the answer, it's the same every time he asks, but he hopes one day, he'll want him to. He hopes it changes soon.
Marshall used to look so anxious each time he'd ask that, sometimes even a little angry, but recently he grew an emotionless expression to that, and all of Lawrence's affectionate nicknames.
"No thank you." He leaves, the door clicking shut behind him.
Lawrence sighs and pulls his phone out of his pocket, double-checking the side-effects of the drug. A person who owed him a favor managed to get it to him with no trouble, and told him mostly everything he needed to know, but he just wants to look over everything again.
Headache, drowsiness, weakness, nausea and vomiting, muscle pain, fever, and chills.
Perfect to imitate sickness.
Satisfied with his findings, Lawrence heads upstairs, and changes into his sleepwear before climbing under the covers. Once he closes his eyes, he falls asleep.
...
Lawrence wakes up at the usual time, and the first thing in his mind is to check on Marshall. He changes into some clothes for the day, and then exits his room to the one just a door down. He doesn't bother knocking, since Marshall doesn't wake up this early most of the time, and finds him surprisingly awake.
It doesn't help that he looks miserable. His eyes have dark circles under them-- darker than usual-- and he's never bundled himself in so many covers.
"Oh, sweetie, what's wrong? Are you okay?" Lawrence tries hard to fight a smile that it worked, kneeling down in front of the bed to look more closely at him. He brushes some hair away from Marshall's face and runs his thumb over his cheekbone.
Warm breath fans Lawrence's hand as Marshall says raggedly, "I think 'm sick again."
"I can see," Lawrence chuckles, but makes sure to keep his voice sympathetic, too. "I'm sorry, buddy. Here, let's go take your temperature again. Maybe I'll call a doctor soon." Which isn't even a doctor. Just another person that owes him a favor.
While being carried, Marshall doesn't even insist he can walk himself. He goes practically deadweight in the blond's arms, legs dangling from his sides.
Lawrence sits him on his usual chair, then grabs the thermometer from one of the top shelves' cabinets. He cleans it, then puts it in Marshall's mouth, not having to intruct him to put it under his tongue. A much deeper concern creeps into Lawrence's heart, wondering if he went too far with it…
It comes back at exactly 100 degrees Fahrenheit, which is good. Not too high, but not unconvincingly low.
A frown sets itself across Lawrence's face as he places the thermometer back on the shelf. "100 degrees… I'm sure it'll only go up from there…"
"Great," Marshall huffs.
"It's okay, kiddo. Why don't I build us a blanket fort, we get all cozy and watch a movie? I'll even make us hot chocolate."
Marshall seems to ponder about it briefly, then nods. His expression is beyond displeased, but also too tired to argue.
Eager to cheer him up, Lawrence walks ahead, humming to himself. He starts with making the blanket fort, then comes back into the kitchen to carry Marshall to the living room, and to the newly made blanket fort. He bundles him in two blankets, kisses his forehead, and leaves the room to make hot chocolate.
Lawrence is determined to make sure this goes correctly. If everything really goes according to plan, maybe he won't let Marshall off the medicine for a while. Just until Marshall can properly bond with him.
When he comes back, he sees Marshall already half-asleep. He sits next to him, pulling him in his lap after setting the hot chocolate aside to cool down a little. He suppresses a coo at how Marshall shivers and leans into him.
"My head hurts," Marshall says quietly.
"Aww, I'm sorry, bud. Do you need any medicine? I completely forgot, I'm sorry." He untangles himself from the younger man, and goes back to the kitchen. As he gets some medicine for the headache, he thinks about it for a moment, then puts it away. Instead, he grabs half a pill more of the drug he used in the first place. A little more wouldn't hurt.
Marshall looks confused when Lawrence comes back with only half a pill. He takes it and the hot chocolate, swallowing it down.
"It's strong, so I decided half a pill is best for now," Lawrence tells him. "If your headache doesn't go away in a couple more hours, I'll give you the other half, m'kay?"
"Okay." Marshall takes another sip of the hot chocolate, and then puts it next to him, letting Lawrence pull him back into his lap, not fighting or tensing like he normally does. He falls asleep before Lawrence can even ask him what he wants to watch. Not that Lawrence minds.
...
"It hurts," Marshall cries two hours later, clutching onto Lawrence's shirt. "Everything hurts, I hate it. It wasn't this bad last time." His voice is in a whine, and he's shivering significantly more.
Gently, Lawrence runs his hands through the young man's hair. "I know, I know, hon. I'm sorry. Can you be a little more specific with me? Is it your head, your tummy?"
Marshall grows more frustrated, whining out, "Everything. Everything hurts."
Lawrence presses a kiss to the top of his head. He hates himself for giving that extra half, he knows he shouldn't have done that. He just wanted Marshall to be delirious enough to call him Dad again. His hands get shakier as he continues to run them through his hair. "Okay, okay, Marshie. How 'bout I check your temperature again? Is that alright?"
The younger man nods, still whimpering slightly.
"I'll be right back." Lawrence leaves back to the kitchen, cleans the thermometer, and comes back. "Open up."
Hesitantly, Marshall opens his mouth and Lawrence puts the instrument under his tongue. It beeps and he pulls it away. It's now at 100.2. He's surprised to see it hasn't changed almost at all. He's really hopes he didn't go too far. He pulls Marshall back up in his arms and says, "I'm gonna give you a bath. Is that okay with you, kiddo?"
"Mmph."
"I'll take that as a yes." Lawrence is eager to take care of him like an actual father. He carefully undresses him, gets him in the tub, and makes sure to get the water warm, but not hot. "This should make the pain easier to deal with. Then it's back to bed with you. Maybe after some soup."
Marshall doesn't respond, only starts crying as soon as Lawrence starts to wash his hair. "Hurts," he cries again. "Hurts, Dad."
All of Lawrence's slight regret is thrown out the window when he hears those helpless words that somehow bring a small grin to his face. He doesn't even need to hide it, with how delirious Marshall seems.
"Oh, Marshall, I know," Lawrence says softly. "I wish I could take away the pain from you, I'm so sorry I can't." He finishes cleaning him, and picks him up, wrapping him in a towel and drying him off. He gets him into some comfortable clothes, then carries him in his room. He tucks Marshall in, a rare occasion, and says, "I'm going to get some soup for you. Tomato again, right?"
The young man doesn't even reply, just groaning.
Lawrence doesn't feel a hint of guilt or remorse anymore. He got what he wanted, and it was so worth it. Maybe he won't do this on regular occasion, but this definitely won't be the last. He doesn't think it's so wrong to just want to be treated like a father.
He hopes Marshall will appreciate what he can remember when he wakes up. Thankfully, the drug didn't mention anything about memory loss.
Lawrence turns around When he returns to the room, he smiles gently at Marshall, who is staring at the ceiling miserably. "I'm back, honey." He sits down on the edge of the bed. "Can I spoon-feed you?"
Marshall makes a noise somewhere between a moan and a protest, but he nods.
He smiles and does so, reminded of the time Marshall got sick in the first place. After a majority of the soup is gone, he puts the bowl away and sweeps back his bangs. "Good job, kiddo. I'm gonna go put this away, I'll be right back."
"Stay." Marshall grabs onto his sleeve. "Stay. Don't wanna be alone. Dad, stay!" He gets himself worked up, and starts crying again.
Frowning, Lawrence bends over, putting his arm around Marshall. "Dad's not going anywhere, buddy."
"…don't leave me."
"Never." Lawrence gets in bed with him, holding him close. "Dad's got you. Just get some sleep. I'll be right here when you wake up. I promise."
It doesn't take long for Marshall to listen and fall asleep. His fists in Lawrence's shirt loosen, and soon his quiet snores can be heard. He drools on Lawrence's shirt, but Lawrence doesn't care one bit.
He'll definitely be doing this again soon. He closes his eyes relaxedly and hums a song to Marshall, a song his mother used to sing to him.
"Goodnight, sweetheart. Dad loves you so, so much."
"…you too," Marshall mutters into his chest.
Marshall is truly fast asleep before he can feel the older man's tears hit his hair.

Hey!! 💖
😔 for Raina (I think that's the right face?)
🍳 for canon Aisling (before and after having a kid)
Hey there!
Thank you for asking! Hope your holiday is proceeding fine! :3
Thank you for the Raina one because it just gave me the nicest idea and I think I may keep it as canon...
Tis the prompt list!
😞 = Finding an orphaned child would your muse opt to take them in, find someone more qualified, or just leave them? - Raina
So, Raina may be a walking disaster with awful coping mechanisms, but she's a big softie inside. Probably the most of the three, all in all.
She won't leave the lonely child on their own, of course, and will bring them home with her. She has space, she has money, and even if she doesn't, if three can eat, there's food for one child more, they'll make do with what they have. Will say, and be absolutely convinced about it, that it's just a very temporary solution, that she will find the child the best, most loving family EVER to take care of them properly.
Ignore Merrill with heart-eyes already, which is absolutely not affecting her, no venhan we can't keep them. (Isabela is watching with pop corns, knowing where this is going to end)
Then, a week passes. Nobody seems to be available to adopt the child.
Two weeks pass. She found some people but they were posh nobles she wouldn't rely on to pass her the salt. Let alone a child. The child is nice, they can stay some more, she doesn't particularly mind. Less distructive than Sandal anyway.
Three weeks. More families shows up, but she's unsure about them. Takes time.
A month. She's gripping on blatant excuses to exclude families from the adoption. The child has their own room, Isabela painted it their favourite colour, Merrill is teaching them elvhen. For Raina, it's still just temporary. It's just that she can't find the perfect family, you know? And the child is a good one! They deserve the perfect family! Every child does! They just need to wait for it!
After maybe six months, Raina will wake up one day and propose to Bela and Merrill that you know. They could just keep the child and adopt it. At which they both will produce papers, tell her that they already signed for adoption, and it just needs her signature.
"Oh, we knew from the moment you taught them to pick locks."
The child will be puzzled when they'll tell them. "Wasn't I already adopted by all three? I've been calling Garrett and Fenris uncles for weeks! .O."
*a very broody raccoon in the corner, she's very happy but will sulk just to prove a point.*
🍳 = What kind of family gatherings does your muse prefer and why? - Aisling
Before kids: A big, huge party, everyone around a fire, there are songs and possibly alcohol, just celebrating being together. And then some days later to catch up and talk and whatever. The only thing she insisted on and requested when buying a home after Trespasser was a guest room always at the ready, and she got it. The family reunion lasts for some days, it may be occasional dued to distances and so on, but IT'S BIG.
After kids: Same as above, maybe less flamboyant a party, but still she'll insist on having at least one big ass reunion with both her clan, the Inquisition crew and the Rutherfords. She'll manage. She and Dorian also developed teletransportation without passing from the Crossroads so it's a little easier. And, she'll insist of having a full family dinner each Sunday with whomever is available. Mia lives not so far away, they'll gather. Sera and Dagna are with them so they're here. Bull comes and goes and visit often with the Chargers -they're all included too of course. Dorian jumps out from the mirror with a cart full of Tevinter delicacies because "The children need to learn what's good food, here, apple of my eyes, take this for a snack." *handles Niamh a fried pizza at 11am* (he has a reputation as best uncle to mantain, you see.)
Basically, with the kids she just presses on to have more family reunions so they'll grow up in a close-knit community with lots of personal connections and feeling loved all around. (Add a Cullen that offers a way out of the madness and the bazillion people around when and if things get too much. He enjoys it! He does! But everyone is SO LOUD.)

Note
Hey Wifey. Sorry for the load of radio silence. There's been some big health emergencies for my family lately. Speaking of, I wanted to ask if a particular request would be alright. My nephew recently got diagnosed with an aggressive cancer and because of worry/stress/etc. I haven't been able to take great care of myself. If your requests are open and this meets your rules, would you be willing to write a few headcanons for Chris/Leon (poly), Karl, and Jake looking after their s/o in this type of situation? They don't have to be anything fancy or long! Just an idea of how they might comfort and help the reader through this rough patch. Please and thank you - regardless of what you do. I appreciate seeing you
Oh Hun, first of all, I'm so so sorry to hear your family, especially your nephew, have to go through this. And please, never apologize for not having the time or mind for huge interactions and such. It's totally okay and I completely understand. I know it's a hard time for everyone, but please, make sure you eat a little something, even if it's just an apple, and drink lots and lots of water. I know it's easier said than done, but your nephew needs his loved ones and all the moral support he can get now more than ever. If you can't do it for yourself, then do it for him. I'm wishing you and your nephew all the best and I'm sending you both a bear hug.
────────────────────────────────────
Leon/Chris:
• Leon and Chris are both super tender and attentive towards you. Not, that they've ever been rough or uncaring or anything of that sort. But knowing what you're currently going through, they want to make sure you're taking it easy and are well taken care of
• They will get you anything and everything you ask for, often even without you asking for anything in the first place. They just randomly pop their heads into the living room with your favourite bubble tea/McFlurry, a slushy and a plate full of dino nuggies in their hands
• Aside from bringing you your favourite treats, they will coddle you with so much affection. They will have you sit/lay between them so the effectiveness of their cuddles and hugs doubles
• They will listen to your worries and try their best to comfort and encourage you. Chris often talks to Rebecca and will have her come over regularly to check on you and help with soothing your fears
• Whenever you're having doubts regarding the treatments or your looks, both Chris and Leon will immediately shower you with compliments and words of encouragement
-----
Karl Heisenberg:
• Karl may not the best when it comes to comforting others, at least with words, but that doesn't stop him from trying
• He will tell you that he's there for you and that everything will be okay. You're his strong little buttercup and if there's someone who can pull through this, it's you
• He will hold you close to him every chance he gets and will only let go of you when you need to go to the bathroom or when he's making you something to eat. His hugs are tight and warm and make you feel safe
• Whenever you have to go to the doctor, he will go with you and scowl at the doctors and nurses while holding your hand throughout the whole procedure. It's not that he doesn't trust them, he just hates seeing you hurt and scared without being able to do anything aside from holding your hand and telling you how brave you are
-----
Jake Muller:
• Jake, being very protective of those he holds dear, will never once leave your side. And if he has to, he feels bad but always makes sure to shoot you a few messages or call you at least twice a day
• He has a hard time entrusting you to the doctors and will always make sure to be by your side no matter what. He tries not to show it, but he's actually way more nervous during the treatments than you are. He'll hold your hand to show you his support and also to soothe himself
• If you're worried about the costs of the treatments, don't be. Jake got you covered and will use the money he was given after donating his blood to pay all of your bills
• Just like Karl, Jake is not the best when it comes to using his words to comfort you. Instead, he will buy you lots of stuff he knows you like and take you to all the places you always wanted to visit
• You eventually have to tell him to tone it down a bit because of the quickly decreasing space in your home and also because you feel bad for having so many expensive things gifted to you. Jake understands and will look for other ways to show you his love and support

Harry and River; Baby years:
Life after you: *Mentions of death, grieving, sadness, overprotectiveness and overall pain*
It's been only 3 months since Leia died. River is 8 months today and he's just playing in his playpen unaware of the turmoil that just eradicated unannounced. I held my emotions tightly for River, I had to be strong for him so he would be okay. Almost routinely, I scrubbed the counters, washed the dishes and made dinner.
"Waahh!" I shot my head over to see River crying over a broken toy in his playpen. With lightning speed, I ran over and scooped him up in my arms trying to calm him down. I gingerly rubbed his back and whispered in his ear to quiet him. "Daddy's here. He'll make it better...I'll take all the pain away." Maybe it was overcompensation. After all it was just a toy.
I took River to his high chair and started feeding him his favorite snacks before dinner was ready. "Who wants some yummy mashed cookies?" I carefully placed some chocolate chip cookies I mashed up in a blender and fed it to River. Once he finished, I fed him some mashed carrots for dinner in hopes he would be sleepy.
The clock struck 7 before River was fast asleep on his baby mat in the middle of the living room floor. "Let's get you to beddy by." I said in a baby voice. I placed him in his crib, making sure he was okay before giving him a soft peck on his chubby cheek and walking out the room, leaving the door cracked open a bit.
My eating habits were less than just abnormal. I barely ate anything except a few cheese slices or apple slices and that's what kept me alive. But I couldn't eat. My appetite wasn't back yet as I was still getting used to a table for one. The nights were so empty and ghastly without Leia. Her presence was enough for me to feel content and unalone.
It wasn't exactly easy for me to erase an image of a pale wife wearing her black dress, hands crossed over her heart that was cold and unresponsive. The raw, murky and damp gray sky fit the somber mood of burying the love of your life in this brown encased box that would be under the soul of the earth. And to have your baby witness that, was heart wrenching for me. Our matching black suits looked upon the lifeless woman that was no longer to exist anymore after losing a battle to a brutal disease.
The immense pain of having to show your son his dead mother. "Look baby, that was mommy." Only cuts the wound deeper.
I didn't even realize I was still standing at the high chair with the empty bowl in my hands until I snapped from my thoughts.
I carried the baby monitor as if it were attached to me by the hip. Like it was infused into me. I needed to hear every cough, every sniffle, every cry coming from River so I could help him. At least that's what I was reassuring to myself most of the time. What I could control, I did. Never again would something like this befall me.
I nervously shifted my positions on the couch as the uneasiness of River not being here made me sick. Physically sick. As if I was waiting for him to break at any moment like how it felt to wait on the positive for a pregnancy test. Except that was a moment of pure joy as I was delighted by the news. This time, it was more chilling. Knowing that anything could go wrong was enough to make me faint out of fear of the harsh consequences the world had to offer if one mistake or slip up was made on my precious River.
I couldn't take those risks anymore. Cough. On impulse, I ejected myself aggressively from the couch and zoomed into River's room, instantly scooping him up in my arms and patting his delicate back.
"It's okay, everything's alright. Dada's here and it'll go away now." I listened to his heartbeat and breathing as if he could catch pneumonia. The thought nearly cut me into pieces. I can't give pieces to River, he needed all of me.
The next day at work after I had dropped River off at daycare, sending him away with a bunch of kisses and 3 minutes of making sure he was settled in nicely, I settled myself into my desk where I had to freestyle a painting for an art magazine. Even I had to admit my lousy job on it. I couldn't think of anything happy to paint except blackness. Just a big blob of dark, somber color. Black. Art imitates life right?
"And how are we doing?" Asked a good mood Mitch who settled at his desk not too far from mine. I shrugged. "Pretty okay." Mitch looked me up and down as if he could see right through me, which he probably did. After all depression isn't something so easily to hide from an observant person.
"Really?" his response shook me from the inside. "I'm just taking things a day at a time."
He nodded just dropping the subject for now. "How's River?" I glanced over quickly before returning to my project. "Needy, but otherwise fine." Mitch let a chuckle slip. "He's needy?"
"Yes, River depends on me for a lot." I said almost defensively. Mitch raised his hands in defense. "Of course. He's just a baby." I smiled at that. A warm feeling flourished in me. "Yeah, my baby."
My baby. My delicate little flower that would sprout beyond the concrete walls. "Nice painting." A sarcastic Mitch said after looking over at my painting. I rolled my eyes. "I'm low on inspiration okay?"
"I know. It's been rough." I nodded in agreement desperately holding in any sign of sadness that would serve as a distraction from my work. Not to say I was doing a satisfying job at it, seeing the ugly black painting I was so concentrated on.
"Lemme know if you need anything." "Thanks, I really appreciate it."
"How you holding up with everything?" I looked down before responding. "I'd say pretty commendable so far."
"That's really good Harry. My advice...just don't go off the deep end." He joked. I laughed a little, but I think Mitch knew it was a little too late for that. By the way I fuss over River, he would think I lost my mind and all sense of rationalism.
Ever since Leia got sick, I've been more protective of River. I try to ease him into things that he realistically should've been doing. But I'm.........
I'm just scared. So maybe it's just not time yet. "Is River doing solids yet?"
A sudden feeling of shame overwashed me. "Uh, no he still does mashed things like peas and yogurt."
"You still mash his yogurt?" "Don't want him choking." I could tell Mitch wanted to say more, but didn't want to start a debate over what I thought was best for River.
River is 8 months. Yeah I know he needs to be eating solids right now, but you can never be too careful. And besides...he doesn't mind it.
Later on that day after work, I rushed to pick up River from daycare. "Hey rivie!" I exclaimed holding my arms out for him. River held out his arms to as his face turned into a smile. "Come to daddy." I said in a baby voice, layering his face with kisses upon kisses. The caregiver smiled seeing the adorable interaction between me and River before strolling over to us.
"Oh he was just a little angel." I smiled proudly seeing at how River's rapport was positive. He was a hit with the staff and playmates here and he seemed to be a class favorite. I adjusted the baby bag dangling off my shoulder and then adjusted River on my hip before exiting the daycare.
"Daddy missed you so much! I was thinking about you all while I was at work." I said peppering River's cheeks with hello kisses. I strapped him into his carseat and smooshed a big kiss to his poor kissable cheek that was smashed with my puckered lips, leaving behind a smoochy whistle sound.
River looked up at me with an unimpressed look. I gave a small apologetic smile. "Sorry, but daddy just couldn't help himself. You're so cute and you're my little kissie snooks." I gave a gentle pinch of his cheek and cooed at him with soft eyes. Oh how my sweet River wasn't too perceptive of self consciousness yet so that allowed me to cuddle and kiss him away.
The drive home was fairly quiet despite the slight cooing noises coming from River's reversed car seat. Once at the house, I took River inside and made him an early dinner. I wanted him to go to bed earlier today since he didn't sleep well yesterday. I was in the middle of mashing his dinner up when I heard him sneeze.
I dropped everything and rushed to River, feeling his forehead and cheeks and seeing if he was congested. He couldn't be sick right?
The dreadful scenes that ran through my brain were endless. My stomach tied itself in a knot to where I became sick. Not to mention the tightening of it due to being sick with worry about River's possible condition. It's almost as if the universe was mocking me and threatening to take another one from me.
Most people would think I was just being melodramatic about everything, but I was dead set on fighting a war with fate if I needed to if it meant I got to have River. I wasn't taking any chances, I shoved a thermometer gently into his armpit and waited impatiently for a beep.
98.10.
Normal temp for a baby I guess. No fever, nothing. River looked at me as if to say "dad, cool it" but I felt justified in my reaction. After all, babies are very sensitive to these things and I only have River's best interest at heart. Because I love him so much. I love him too much...I love him to pieces, to death, to let anything happen to him.
"I love you." I said softly, almost compensating for my slight overreaction to his insincere sniffle. I kissed his cheek as a 'make it up to you' type of response. I finished making his dinner and served it to him in a cautious observant manner, making sure every bite of those beets were eaten.
River hates it, but it's a super food so I felt it was important for him to have. Plus a well awarded banana pudding was served right after to him as well. I let River stay up to watch me wash the dishes until I had to take him upstairs for a bath and a needed diaper change.
Bathtime was fun for River as I had a variety of bath toys laid out for him as I washed his hair and body. "All done, I said scooping him up from the bathtub and swaddled him in a ducky bath towel that amplified River's adorableness.
I took him into his bedroom and lotioned River's small body along with putting a fresh diaper on him. "Nice and clean." I said to River putting him into a warm sleep footed onesie. I tucked into bed and sung a soft lullaby to him. "Goodnight Rivie, daddy loves you." I pressed a sweet and soundly kiss to his forehead.
The next morning I was at work bright and early, working on a new painting. I didn't mind being 3 minutes late all because of watching River get settled into daycare again. Mitch wasn't too shy about striking up a conversation about that subject.
"Three minutes." I looked at Mitch with curiosity and insecurity. "What about it?" "Oh nothing, it's just....I shouldn't"
"What?" "Well, I noticed you've been three minutes late for the past few weeks." I looked down and shrugged. "It's just...I have to make sure River's okay."
"I get that Harry," Mitch continued. "But as I friend, I just notice these things and......well,"
"What?" "Don't you think you're being a little overprotective towards River?"
That comment made me avert myself. "Of course not! I have to do what's best for him and he's too little to do things by himself so...That's where I come in. And besides, it's not a crime to not want River to have anything bad happen to him. I promised that to Leia, River and myself."
"Of course Harry, I think you're a great father, but you're holding a lot in, I can tell."
"Look Mitch, River needs me. He's very vulnerable to the world and I can't let anything happen to him." "And then nothing will happen to him if continue to out your grief on to River."
Before I could respond, my phone lit up with the daycare's number on the screen. In a sharp panic, I answered.
"Hello?"
"Hello Mr styles?" "Yes. Is everything okay?"
I could hear cries coming from the background, one I recognize all to well. River's.
"That's River! What's wrong?!" "Well, he seems to be a little fussy more than the usual and he won't take any milk or food."
I knew River. This wasn't a fussy cry, the poor baby was screaming out in pain and I couldn't bear to take it any longer. "I'm coming right now to come get him."
I hung up before the carefree girl could say anything else and the next thing I knew, was I was running to grab bag from the chair and frantically digging for my keys. "Harry what's goin-"
"Could you tell Mr Caddel that I clocked out early due to an emergency. He can dock my pay or whatever." I said in a small state of hysterics. I finally found my keys and ran out the door and down the studios steps, practically wanting to leap into the wide gap that spaced the top stairs from the bottom ones.
I made it to my car and stepped on the gas as hard as I legally could. I could only imagine River's harsh cries for me to come and sweep him up in my arms. That last sound of River's screaming cries left my heart in agony. The mental agony was the hardest weight on me as I drove down every shortcut I could think of.
I pulled up into the daycare and parked pretty obnoxiously, but that didn't matter as much as getting to my baby boy as fast as possible. The door swung open surprising the other patrons of my appearance.
I ran to the office where I could hear the loud hysterical cries from River. "I'm here!" I said on point as I opened the door, revealing my presence to the caregivers. I reached out for River who accepted his invitation for a well needed cuddle and he instantly fell into my arms.
His cries calmed down a little to where it was just pitiful whimpers that contrasted to the loud merciless screams he had hooted out for the whole block to hear. "He's okay, he seems to be doing better now. I think he just missed you." The young lady said with an soft sympathetic tone.
I nodded in agreement. "I think so too. I'm gonna sign him out now." The minute I did, I held River tightly in my arms as we walked out to the half sunlight parking lot. I looked at River with concerned eyes. "Is it your tummy? Hmm?" I gingerly asked. "Did you get a diaper rash and it hurts?"
River just looked down with a tranquil expression. "Oh River you mean to tell me that you got me all worked up and worried sick thinking the worst and now suddenly you're okay?"
River just looked at me with a smile. "I'm not mad. Just shaken that's all." I put river into his car seat but not before smothering the little lad in kisses much to River's dismay. "No, you are going to let daddy kiss and cuddle you because you scared him half to death."
I gave way to a few more kisses before deciding to take my place in the driver's seat. "Young man..." I said quietly.
Later on that night, I had River in between my legs playing with him before my phone rang. "Hello?"
"Hey Harry it's Mitch." "Oh hey Mitch." "I just wanted to know if River was alright?"
"Yep," I said popping the p. "Would you believe he stopped crying once I held him?" I was still in disbelief. Mitch chuckled. "Yeah, they'll do that. I've got niece to prove that."
"Thanks for checking in Mitch and for covering for me." "No prob. You would've done the same for me. Plus it was an emergency."
"Yeah." A long pregnant pause stood there. "I'll see you tomorrow."
"Sure thing."
As I was setting up my art sack, I contemplated skipping work today to watch River. I didn't feel comfortable with that daycare anymore due to River's last episode with them. I felt they handled it too carelessly and I seemed to be the only experienced one with him. Nonetheless, I knew I couldn't have Mitch substitute me again, so I had to deal with the reality that River was going to go to the daycare and I would have to shuffle through work.
I hesitantly set River down on the mat of the play area where all his companions were, wondering if this was a mistake worth making. The caregiver didn't dare look me in the eyes, despite mine being glued on her. Not in a flirtatious manner, but a stern questioning one.
"Bye rivie, love you." I said pressing a soundly kiss to his peach colored cheek. I looked back at him with skepticalness and scanned the entire area for threats. I finally managed to pull myself out of my protective daze and into my car.
I plopped my bag down on my desk as Mitch looked over in the middle of painting his mural. Mitch gave me a knowing look as I returned it with a taciturn look. But Mitch pestered anyway, confidently not intimidated by my reservedness.
"So you came to work today?" Was this a continuation of yesterday's conversation? If so I wasn't in the mood. I didn't need to justify my love to my son to anyone, not even a friend.
"Mmhm." I mumbled quietly. I couldn't even imagine how I looked physically to Mitch. Was it the bags that settled themselves under my eyes along with the neighboring dark circles? Or was it the constant fear that I carried along with a chipped heart?
The room was a quiet tense until it was lunchtime. Me and Mitch sat at our respective tables, munching away on the sandwich I made along with potato chips and a bottled iced tea. I struggled to finish my lunch as I kept looking at the clock. Anxiously waiting for work to end and River would be with me again.
"Harry...," I looked over to Mitch before turning back to my lunch. "No." I stated plainly not wanting to start yet another debate over my child rearing ways.
"Yes Harry, you can't ignore the elephant in the room. Deep down you know you're taking on a lot. And as a friend I can't stand by and let you be hurt like this."
"I'm fine. Nothing is wrong, River's okay, I'm okay." "Are you?" Mitch pointed to the black globby painting I had painter earlier. "Harry...I'll be frank and unfiltered. You have built up a thick wall of emotion, yet deep down you are still incredibly sensitive and on edge with Leia's death. I know you miss her, but I think it goes deeper than that. It was how she died that scares you."
"I'm a little nervous I admit that, but....but nothing. I have it under control." Mitch shook his head. "You're losing control. I saw the way you rushed out of the studio Harry and how you interact with River lately. You're scared to death that something might happen to him and that you won't be there to control it."
In the middle, I kept thinking about River. Was he okay? What if he is screaming for me right now? What if something horrible happened? A sharp ping nipped me inside. My heart sped up and my breathing became labored. Mitch observed with concern.
"Excuse me Mitch, I gotta go." "Where?" "Gotta check on River."
"Nothing's wrong with him though." "You don't know that!" I said raising my voice a little. "Harry, you gotta calm down. I mean he's safe at daycare."
"And what if he's not?" I said turning to Mitch with petrified eyes. My clenched hands straddled through my bag for keys. "WHERE ARE MY KEYS?"
"Harry! Chill!"
NO! River needs me!" Mitch looked on with a baffled expression. "I'll just take him out and we'll go home. I think I'll quit Mitch, I have to become a stay at home dad for River, it's just not working out with me being away this much. You'll understand when you have little ones someday."
"Harry, do you even hear yourself? Not being there is not gonna kill him!"
"It killed Leia didn't it?" I said quietly. "It killed her!" I threw my items out of the bag and was on the floor, on my knees burying my arms into the bag to find my keys. Mitch ran over to me.
"Harry stop it! Get a grip! River is fine, you've got to believe that!" "I don't have to because it may not be true! He could be there and have a unknown disease right now and.....and-" My voice cracked.
"Let it all out Harry." A sob broke from my mouth. And then a full blown cry. I was on the ground sobbing like a 2 year old that couldn't find his blanket.
"And there was nothing I could do about it. S-She was r-right there and she couldn't breathe..a-and she just stopped breathing. She died in the middle of the night when I wasn't there. I couldn't do anything, I was just helpless Mitch! I thought I could overcome this by myself but I'm a wreck if River is not near me! I just love him so much and no one else is gonna love him the way I do, so I owe it to him to play both roles. I-I just fee-feel so bad for him, because I'm what he has. There is no mommy in his life! There's no Leia and I'm scared! I'm alone....I loved her and she was my best friend. And now she's gone. I don't wanna lose my baby too!"
Mitch rubbed my back as I sobbed bitter loud tears on the floor by my desk. "it's going to be okay Harry. Just breathe and let go. You couldn't control what happened to Leia, and you can't control what happens to River, but that's okay. You just gotta let it go."
I pulled myself together and wiped my face and red nose. "I know you miss Leia. And I know you love River more than anything. But because you love him so much, you have to do what's best for him....including putting life into perspective. And not bottling things up."
I nodded. "You're right. You have always been right and I'm sorry."
Mitch pulled me in for a hug. "it's gonna get better, just take things a day at a time." Mitch was my epiphany. My cynical views of the world needed to change. "You take the rest of the day and week off and I got ya."
"Thank you so much!" Mitch smiled and trailed over to my desk. "Oh here they are." He held up my keys with a painting palette design dangling alongside the other silver and gold mix. "Thanks." I sniffled, voice still fading in and out from my breakdown.
I grabbed my bag and keys and walked out. But not before thanking Mitch. "Thanks for being a good friend." I smiled weakly.
Mitch waved me off with a smile. "Get outta here."
I drove to the daycare to pick River up. I was in a more collected mood than when I was first here and walked in with more tame. "Hello rivie! Daddy missed you!" I said scooping him up and kissing him all over his face. "I could really use a hug right now."
I glanced at the young caretaker, giving her an approving smile before heading out.
"Hey River want some yogurt?" I took a cup from the fridge and fed it to River who seemed to enjoy more than the other occasions. Well.....it wasn't mashed up this time. River needed solids. "River....from now on daddy's gonna stop worrying about you so much. I mean of course I'll always fuss over you, but not in the way I used to. That would make us both sick. I have to treat you more like an 8 month old okay?"
River looked on as if to say 'deal' and that was good enough for me. I kissed his cheek and continued feeding him his yummy treat.
"We'll be okay." I said to myself with newfound assurance.

Sebbie my love, I hope you're doing well, I know I usually start off like that, but I can't help it (lol).
We've had sun showers here all day long and it's only feeding the yearning hours. It's also getting warmer, everything's all green, the trees are popping along with the flowers and everything smells amazing from the rain and once again, the Miles Miller x cottagecore!wifey!reader thoughts/thots are back again.
You and Miles have been living in the cottage for a while now and alot has happened in those last few years. Benny was born in the house and has already learned his first word (Miles was practically in tears when Benny first said "Dada", lol) and he's taken his first steps there too.
Your house always smells so good from the herbs you keep in the pantry and often you can tell what season it is based on the smells. Spring smells like lavender and mint, Summer smells like peaches and sweet tea, Fall smells like cinnamon and apples and winter smells of pine and cedar.
Spring and summer are without a doubt yours and Miles's favorite seasons. Every morning he'll make sweet tea with fresh peaches, put them in mason jars and stick them in the kitchen window so they can mix with the full sun. While Miles is out in the garden with Benny, you'll make lemon cookies or have dinner going later in the day. If there's been a sun shower? Forget it, Miles and Benny will be out there in the yard, running around and often times the two of them will come in covered in mud.
You've even sewn together a little stress pillow for Miles that has fresh lavender sprigs in it from your garden and he's almost always using it (one time he put it over his eyes and you found him dead asleep on the couch, lol). Even the trunk that has all of Benny's toys, stuffies and his blankies in it has lavender sprigs in it and it'll knock him right out after a long day. During the super hot nights, you two are always eating the fresh, homemade popsicles in the freezer and taking cool baths at night before curling up with the windows open so you can listen to the peepers that live in the pond at the edge of the woods.
hello my love! thank you so much, i hope you’re doing well too!
aaaaah cottage core thoughts with miles 🥹 these are so sweet and i always absolutely adore them! what i would give to have this life, it just sounds so sweet, warm and loving. thank you so much for this my love! 💌
