when it comes to certain people, you don't even have to try to replace them because what they offered wasn't much. it's like they were the void and now, thankfully, they're gone.

So I went to read the Kids Online Safety Act, thinking that it couldn't possibly be as bad as what people are making it out to be, I mean I'm a lawyer and expert in statutory interpretation, it can't be that bad, right?

Oh no. KOSA IS that bad. It will literally eradicate queer people online.

The bill says that a "covered platform" - broadly defined as "anything on the internet a minor might use" which is literally the entire fucking internet- has a "duty" to protect minors from anything that might harm them, including "sexual exploitation" and other undefined terms

It also gives state attorneys general the ability to sue to enforce it.

So here's exactly what's gonna happen:

Wacko republicans, as they've been doing with increasing force this year and last, are going to sue any and every website in existence, saying that the mere existence of LGBT people online constitutes sexual abuse of minors. And websites are gonna be so afraid of not doing the most that they'll just axe all LGBT everything.

Like. Republicans have been calling all LGBT people groomers and child molesters for years. The lead Republican literally admitted this bill will be used to attack trans people.

This bill is BAD bad. I'm appalled that democrats are lining up behind what is clearly a republican Trojan horse to eradicate LGBT people from the entire internet.

Update, it's been 3 months since the last journal post. That apartment was absolute dogshit!!!! It had visible water damage behind the ceiling in the living room about the sliding door, the fridge was moldy, the microwave was broken, there was drywall dust everywhere from the repaint, the floor was the most never shit, there was an insane draft under the sliding door, there was a leak under the bathroom sink, AND the heat didn't work day one. In March. In northern Ohio.

This was all day one. The same hour I picked up my keys.

The heat got fixed, the appliances got replaced, the sink leak got fixed. But even now, three months later, the ceiling still drips and the sliding door leaks whenever it rains. They're planning to fix the roof any day now they say, but I asked about fixing the door and the reply was "We have no plans to replace the door".

I've almost finished moving out now, into my partners condo. Because a week ago, after running the A/C at a reasonable temperature for about a week, roughly two GALLONS of nasty ass brown water dumped out of the bathroom ceiling where the A/C condenser and blower lives.

I've got some stuff moving around to get me out of my lease, but I'm moving out and they're not getting another penny out of me for that shithole.

And so, I'm experiencing domestic bliss. I live with my Honey, we sleep together, we eat together, I get to see her every day. She is the moon, and stars, and everything bright and beautiful in my sky. I am so entirely in love, and lemme tell ya that shit rules my guy.

Another piece of diet culture to unlearn: that eating an "unhealthy" food negates the benefits of other nutritious things you've eaten. Put bacon and ranch on your salad? Congratulations, you still got a lot of fiber, that's great for your gut biome, and the veggies still contain nutrients. Finished up your dinner with a dessert? You still ate the dinner. You don't have to eat "pure" to take in nutrition from your meals.

Four months on by the date since the last time I wrote anything. A lot is different, a lot is very much the same.

I did try. It didn't work out, but that's okay. Things kept rolling, and I found something with someone else. We're together now, she's brilliant. Smart, kind, driven, passionate, goofy. She gets the zoomies too. She loves my Soup.

I don't know how far it'll go, she's far more driven for big things than I am. But maybe she'll rub off on me in the meantime. And for as long as it goes, I'm going to give it my best. She deserves that.

I'm starting to worry I've spent too long being indecisive about it, and my chance is gone.

Or something else will get in the way. I don't believe that there's only one person out there for any given person. But if I don't at least try, and I mean really try, I'll regret it for the rest of my life
