Week 2 ~ The Longing ~ Tuesday

Britta had done it. Time and time again death came for her and time and time again she dodged it. Whether it was being a second away from being hit by a car or a bullet whizzing through her hair, she managed to keep on plowing on and to continue breathing and living and walking.

That was thanks to magic but eventually, she knew, magic would run out. Eventually death would catch up to her and she would do what she could to be prepared for that moment.

Ravenwood was the perfect place for her to find a solution, it was here, somewhere, that she knew, but where? She had snuck into Death HQ easily enough but the answer was not there and now she would look through the local library but there wasn't much here either.

Just a few books on the theory of death, ideas, philosophy, things she planned on promptly ignoring...

Finally, I get out of my reaping clothes. I shouldn't get too comfy with those huh? Doesn't seem like that is the best of ideas! Having a bath was a good idea since I can sit and soak in it. I guess after my bath I'll know what to do with the rest of my day or rather I'll probably find my pillow and call it a night and hope for peaceful dreams.

So, with not much to do, I open my laptop and just browse around the net. I guess it is a lazy Tuesday and with nothing planned there is always the internet there to pass time. You can lose hours and hours just watching simtube videos honestly.

I should stop complaining about my lack of friends since I have one to greet me every time I come home. Brandy! She's always yapping up a storm when I see her and I always feel bad because I can't imagine how it is for her being here all alone. That should change soon, I'm not sure how soon, but soon! I will not live alone for the rest of my life, after all.

It is then back into the office for me and I must say, I don't socialize much but a very odd woman comes to sit right next to me and work along my side. I ignore her, mostly, but she seems very interested in what I'm doing, glancing over now and then, peeking my way, sneaky stuff. Eventually I do it back and that gets her to stand up and leave.

How curious! I'm not sure I've seen her around here before either...

With plenty of souls collected they must all then be released and hopefully pushed on to a greater journey, either back to life, or wherever a soul goes, according to your beliefs I suppose! How exciting? Everyone always believes this or that when it comes to what happens after death, it is the biggest question we all have, after all!

Sometimes my job doesn't include actual reaping, instead, I'll be going around collecting souls and closing fissures and other things that Grim needs done. This is at least a lot more emotionally easy if I am being completely honest!

I start another day at work because some days my dears I wake up and head right to it and honestly. I'm happy for it today.

That strange man was still lingering in my mind...in fact...I've had unusual dreams about him that I really don't wish to speak of right now.

Wise words Xavier!

The outside chill has followed us inside, so I light the fireplace while Xavier shares stories of his adventures here in Chestnut Ridge. The old dude is full of energy and is pretty funny.

Xavier: *concludes his story* ... all I can say is some folks don’t know how to use the good sense that the Watcher gave them. And it’s spreading quickly. *hearty laugh* Make sure to duck to avoid getting hit with it.

Wade: I can’t argue with that one. It’s spread across the entire country.

Xavier: You’d better know it. *brief pause* Oh, before I forget - I brought a gift for you and the missus to thank ya for ya hospitality. Mind if I put it under the tree?

She is right there, sims are very odd!

Kyle introduces himself as, well, Kyle, obviously and Susie quickly apologizes for her false accusation. Clearly just looking for weird sims isn't working out because sims just naturally behave weirdly sometimes. Feeling guilty and hungry she finds a quiet place to eat.

DULCE: Thanks, Antonio.

MATTHEW: Hey, I can’t hear them! What gives?!

GUILLERMO: Turn your mics back on!

[Silence.]

MATTHEW: ...I think they muted us.

GUILLERMO: WHAT.

MATTHEW: What could they be talking about?

GUILLERMO: Maybe about the kitchen?

MATTHEW: It is a nice kitchen but she’ll get a cool one too eventually—Oh! Speaking of which...

MATTHEW: How come Hilary isn’t always sending money her way? She loves Dulce more than she loves her own children.

*START FLASHBACK*

[Restaurant employees groan.]

HILARY: Don’t whine. She could take over this place if she wanted to. Seriously, I want her on the will but Hector only wants our kids on it [scoffs]. They’re living proof that not everyone can cook.

*END FLASHBACK*

GUILLERMO: My Tía Noemí didn’t raise Dulce like that. She’ll accept a deposit every now and then, but that’s about it. Hilary is always ready to whip out her checkbook for her, though.

GUILLERMO: When the whole ordeal with the Altos went down, Hilary offered other solutions besides the partnership. She wanted to buy advertisements for Postres de Alegría, create and sell merch, and launch a “truth-based Alfonso Alto smear campaign”... whatever that last one means.

MATTHEW: Noemí and your dad declined? I’m guessing they said something like “it wouldn’t be honest work.”

GUILLERMO: Yeah. It’s kinda funny. Nobody wants Hilary’s money. The Antonio guy refused it too until she pushed him enough.

MATTHEW: Ha! It was probably a few weeks into working with Dulce when he realized he shouldn’t be doing it for free.

GUILLERMO: [Chuckles in agreement.]

DULCE: Okay I have a plan for a new route.

ANTONIO: Let’s hear it.

[Dulce whispered.]

ANTONIO: Agreed. Let the other two know.

DULCE: “Fuego.�� New plan.

MATTHEW: Oh! So now you decide to turn the mic back on!!

DULCE: My bad. Anyway, what do you think of this...

DULCE: The dance floor is too unpredictable. What if we head to the laundry room, hallway, then garage?

GUILLERMO: It’s riskier cuz we don’t know if certain doors are locked, but sure.

MATTHEW: If that’s what you’re comfortable with. Just wait in the kitchen until we clear it.

DULCE: Okay I have some regrets. This is taking forever. Can’t we just book it to the door?

ANTONIO: Those secret agent movies you watch tend to be overexaggerated, you know? Real agents have to do a lot of waiting.

DULCE: I’m seeing that now.

ANTONIO: Okay, why don’t you make us less suspicious? Eat some of the desserts to make people think that’s why we’re secluded over here.

DULCE: After you, I don’t like sweets.

ANTONIO: No, I’m vegan.

DULCE: Dammit! I forgot. Okay well... I guess this is what a dedicated agent must do.

DULCE: Oh man.

DULCE: Agents do whatever it takes for the sake of the mission. Always. This is my moment to prove my dedication and-

MATTHEW: The coast is clear!

[Dulce sprinted to the door at the speed of light, much to Antonio’s amusement.]
