I have a request rick grimes x reader xshane walsh - they have a relationship and that whole scene with Rick waking up alone in the hospital happens, the reader and Shane have been taking care of Carl since the apocalypse started and when rick meets his family, they have a cute moment between the four of them in the tent

AN: I’m really sorry for not updating my request guidelines sooner, but I’m quite uncomfortable writing for Shane, seeing as some controversial news has come out surrounding his actor, and I just generally don’t love the character, I don’t think he’d treat women well, considering he SA’d Lori (I’m not judging, this is just my opinion) but I hope me writing solely Rick for this is ok, i actually really liked the idea.

And I was reminded of S1 Rick (good lord) and that clip of Andrew talking about the show in his sheriffs uniform and switching between accents, that video changed me 🤭

Obviously I’m not including any illusion to the reader cheating on Rick with Shane (I’m completely unsupportive of infidelity and hope my followers/readers agree with that) I kind of imply that the reader doesn’t actually like Shane 😭

If this is slightly inaccurate in terms of the 3rd episode of s1, I’m sorry, I don’t recall most of the finer details

“All right, dunk”

You instruct, your son dips his head in the shallow bowl of water you hold up to him, waiting for him to wet his hair.

He sighs, begrudgingly dunking his head into the cool water, you towel dry his hair until it’s just damp, leaving the towel on his shoulders

“So, what are we getting done today”

He smiles, snorting at your acting

“A trim?”

You hum

“Best be paying me well”

He giggles, leaning his head back as you brush through his hair, snipping away at the dark strands.

You hear the thump of Shane’s boots before you actually see him, you look up at the man, waiting for him to speak, the boy sat in front of you starts fidgeting, excited to see the man, for some reason you still can’t seem to figure out.

“Boy, stop fidgeting”

You tap him with your boot

“Sorry”

He huffs, smiling, you relent, the past month has been hard on the boy. You lean down, whispering to your son

“Look, you keep still, I’ll let you have that chocolate bar I hid away”

He turns, grinning up at you

“Deal”

You get back to work, cutting away at his overgrown hair, before Shane sits in front of you, poking around with his gun and making small conversation with Carl.

You pull your son up when you hear the wailing of a car alarm, pushing the boy behind you when Shane ran off to the source of the noise

“You stay close and behind me, ok?”

Carl nods, his hand in yours and you follow the rest of the small group to the noise to see Glenn hoping out of a bright red Challenger while the group yells at him for the violently loud wailing from the car.

You watch on as the group sweetly reunites with their relatives and friends.

You turn to your son, brushing a hand against his cheek, smiling down at him

“C’mon, I promised you a chocolate bar if I remember correctly”

His lip is quivering and he’s crying before you get a chance to walk off , you crouch down

“Hun, he’s fine, I promise you, we’ll find him”

He nods, sniffling

“How’d y’all get out of there”

You hear Shane call from across the clearing, you look to him, intrigued

“New guy.. he got us out”

“New guy?”

Your son looks over his shoulder, sucking his bottom lip in with a sob, you following his gaze

Your husband

Standing there across the way, for a moment you think you’re dreaming, Shane had told you Rick was dead, you weren’t convinced, but your hope started to dwindle everytime your group returned from a run empty handed

You’re up, picking your son up with shaking arms and sprinting for him, you tumble at your husband pressing your son into his arms and holding the back of his neck with your hand, you’re crying, and before you notice the tears dribbling down your cheeks, Ricks rubbing them away, Rick, your husband, your handsome, caring husband is swiping away at the liquid globbing on your chin, you hold his hand there, content to feel the warmth, the life thrumming under his skin.

You run your fingers over his wedding band, and you press against him, forehead to forehead.

“My God”

He breathes, and you revel in the molasses sweet southern drawl of his voice, replaying his voice in your head and etching the features into your mind, desperate to memorise him, just incase you ever lost him again, god forbid, and forgot what this was like, what his touch was like. What his love was like.

You’d managed to pull Rick away from the frankly awkward conversation that was taking place around the fireplace, Carl’s head was drooping on your shoulder, poor boy was exhausted

“Darlin’ let me carry em’”

You huff at him

“No, not until that bullet hole in you is done healin’”

He smiles, his warm hand slotted into the dimples of your back

“Fine, fine”

He unzips the tent, you duck in, Carl’s eyes blinking open as you settle him into his cot, you kneel next to him, plotting a kiss on his forehead

“I love you hun, goodnight”

You smile, running a hand through his hair

“Love you mum”

You shuffle aside, making room for your husband to say his love yous

You smile at the tender moment shared between father and son, Carl turns over after Rick presses a kiss to your son’s temple, you pull his blanket up over his shoulders.

You sit in front of Rick, rubbing your fingertips over his knuckles and picking at the grime under his fingernails

“I didn’t think you were dead”

You speak up, he stills, staring at you

“I knew you were alive, too damn stubborn”

You crack a smile at him, he chuckles with you

“You ain’t gettin’ rid of me any time soon, Darlin’”

He gathers your hands in his, pressing kisses to each of your fingers, taking his time to stare at your wedding band, his eyes soft and gentle

“He weren’t the same”

You look to Carl, your eyes flicking back to your husband

“We were lost without you”

He looks down at you, his blue eyes become weepy, you bring a hand up to his face, wiping away unshed tears

“I missed lookin’ at you”

He breathes, his voice soft and gentle

“You’re so beautiful”

You look away, trying to reign in tears of your own, you bring him into a kiss, letting your tears drip down to your jaw, his face slightly prickly from a recent shave, it’s everything you’d been waiting for for the past month, a safe, warm place to rest, your son, happy, and your husband.

You fall asleep joyfull, hopeful, and wrapped in your husbands arms, his cool wedding ring resting on your arm.

Watched the new Helluva Boss episode that we waited forever for.

Honestly at this point I give every episode without Stolas at least 1 star automatically because I'm so tired of him. He’s as complex as a wet paper bag and it amazes me how he's so popular in the fandom.😭😭

Kesha’s character, whatever the fuck her name is....Queen Bee? Yeah her design confused the absolute hell outta me, more specifically her hair cuz it's like she had a patch of normal-ish hair then the designing team was like “SHE NOT INTERESTING ENOUGH!” and then just slapped that lava lampish kind of shit on her and it just didn't work for me at all.

I also had no clue she was the ruler of the gluttony ring until I read a post here on Tumblr and I just.....WHAT?? she just seems like a regular ass hell hound that they slapped some random goofy shit onto to make her look more “special” and like I read on another post here...SHES DATING A HELLHOUND!? Who are seen as lower than Imps so what the fuck makes Stolas and Blitz relationship so dire and special in the first place!? Like according to levels of authority Blitz and Stolas’s relationship should be better then Queen Bee and Vortex cuz Stolitz level of authority are more closer together than a ruler of the rings and a hell hound..?? This really annoys me cuz with how the show is going I really doubt they're even gonna talk about what's going on with that and why one is acceptable and the other isn't.

Like at least with Fizz and Asmodeus it seems they're keeping their seemingly more romantic side hidden from the general public which looks like it's gonna be addressed in a later episode but with Queen Bee’s relationship she's just public about it...??

Also another note...am I the only one that was confused with what the hell was up with Lonna during the beginning of the episode? Like she seemed nervous then ran into a random ass group of girls who she apperently knew who made her more upset after shoeing a emmbarring photo. Like ok I get what she was upset for with that…but then that ends and she’s continues to be upset through the rest of the first half and I’m like why is she still upset throughout the whole song?? I wish they would give her some fucking dialogue to talk about her emotions other then be so god damn vague cuz I had no clue what the fuck she was thinking and it felt like they wanted her to be upset for random conflict without giving us a reason as to why she’s acting the way she is. After she meets Queen Bee she can’t even be completely shocked and upset cuz she already knew Vortex had a girlfriend cuz he told her in episode fucking 3. The only thing she would be surprised about was that he was dating a leader of the ring….but we don’t specifically understand what the fuck she’s so upset about…

I don’t know. It just really bothered me cuz I was expecting to learn more shit about Loona but I have to remind myself that this show really has a terrible time writing female characters.

Also the ending with Blitz and Loona would of been a decent moment if we didn’t already see that she completely physically beats him and acts like a massive bitch the first time we see her in the next season so 🙃🙃🙃

Episode didn’t really feel all that special….

SEASON 2 EPISODE 5 THOUGHTS

spoilers ahead, of course.

i realized during this episode that corlys has lost his brother, both of his children, his heir, and now his wife as well. it’s certainly enough to bring anyone down. but i’m bothered by the fact that he offered to make baela his heir, despite her being the future queen, and not rhaena who lacks a dragon, a fiancé, and any inheritance of her own. she literally has nothing! and i understand that she’s far away and he doesn’t have the chance to advise her in being the lord/lady of the tides, but she’s still young, and as far as he knows there may still be time for that after the dance is concluded. someone PLEASE throw rhaena a bone, i’m begging you😭

baela and jace enjoyers (me) were feasted tonight. baela seemed so noble and fierce, and jace has fully embraced his sassy boy era. like, compared to the last few episodes where they have a combined screen time of 2 minutes, we are positively gorging ourselves.

at this point we all know alicent was made redundant as soon as aegon was crowned, but watching her slowly and painfully acknowledge her fate as a bystander in all of this bloodshed has been hard to watch. the part she played (and is currently playing) is not small by any means, but it’s mostly done. she was a large part of the setup for the dance, but now her lot is mostly to sit by and watch everything fall into place…much like rhaenyra.

YAY SOWING OF THE SEEDS YAY!!!!! that means we’ll see more addam soon🤭💋🩷

ugh…what else to say about daemon? he was never my favorite character, but at least in season one there was more to him than whining about his title and betraying his child bride. please do us all a favor by passing away! oh and the mommy boinking was certainly something. i was not expecting alyssa targaryen to appear at all, let alone in a waking oedipal dream. i’ve become mostly desensitized to targcest but mother-son action is still a bit too far for me.

alys rivers is based as usual. lovely side profile, too. her and mysaria are the new heroines of the show.

aemond fully doesn’t give a fuck anymore. from his very first appearance in the show, we saw him wistfully imagine what he’d do as heir. when aegon complains about his sister-wife helaena, aemond says that he’d do his duty if their roles were reversed. he claims vhagar in the dead of night, seizing an opportunity to ride the most fearsome living dragon in westeros. he honed his body and mind if not his social skills and lied in wait for an opportunity. he wanted to rule, knew he could do it better, and said as much when it came time for aegon to ascend. but for the most part, he simmered. he was always outwardly dutiful and obedient, knowing that he and his brother needed to appear as a united front against those who supported rhaenyra. this is something alicent told aegon, and probably aemond at some point too, but he was the only one who really took it to heart. aemond suffered humiliation at the hands of his nephews, but he probably had an easier time coping with that from the rumored bastards of a contested heir than he did from his own brother, the other claimant to the iron throne whose case was only stronger than his own because of pure chance. aegon had everything aemond ever wanted, even his own loyalty, and he couldn’t even respect him enough to cease the teasing in adulthood. so i can’t say that i blame aemond for taking a shot at his competition, even if they are technically on the same side. there are many for whom any son would do at this stage. and hey, we saw him and helaena speak to each other for the first time in a long time. maybe he’ll take her too.

also we’re hearing more disillusionment from the smallfolk yippee!!! the mask is slipping.

Loki - season 2, episode 6 series finale -immediate reaction

Okay, so this time I’m gonna have to split this into two posts. This one is my reaction after just watching the finale, but this time it’s going to be mostly my emotional response, and the more considered post with images will have to wait till later. I don’t have the heart for it right now.

So yeah, spoilers ahead.

Well that tore out my heart and stamped on it!

I mean it was an utterly perfect story for a character like Loki, but I’m still devastated. I love it. And I hate it.

I love it on a story level. The whole season was beautifully done! Loki developed so much over the six episodes, and really won my heart back. I fell in love with the gang from the TVA, particularly OB and Mobius, and I warmed to Sylvie and just wanted her to be able to live the quiet life she’s wanted for so long.

I loved that they really went into the depth I had assumed I’d only get in a fic about the different attempts Loki made to fix things by going back in time. They didn’t just gloss over things, they really showed him trying. I was shocked when after he asked OB how long it would take him to learn everything, he went and spent CENTURIES doing it! My stomach dropped. Because can you imagine what that means for someone? Even someone as long lived as Loki? What that has to do to your mind? And that should have been the first clue things weren’t going to turn up roses.

Then he finally succeeds! But they don’t show it to us like we’re experiencing that moment, but more as though we’re an observer, rushing through it because it’s yet another repeat. And for one brief moment Loki is happy because he thinks they’ve done it. But no, it turns out to have been an impossible task!

And then he finds out that HWR basically gave him his newfound powers, and that he still had a lot to learn, and then we see THAT HE ALREADY HAD LEARNED! The way they kept dropping the sense of time on us, that sense of dread and urgency. And inevitability. *shivers*

How he tries, and tries, and tries to convince Sylvie, but can’t get through to her, and how he has to contemplate whether he’s the sort of man who could kill her. I loved how he visited Mobius to ask for his advice. My god. What a horrible conversation to have to have. But what trust he places in Mobius!

And I loved how he kept refusing to take the easy path. How he decided he couldn’t kill Sylvie, and how he realised there was another way. But OMG at what price!? I can’t….

But I hated how much this hurt Loki, what this took from him. When the gold from the rock trickles upwards to create a mockery of a throne, which is more a prison… just…. 😭 The look on his face once he knows what he has to do. He had to make the impossible choice, and he chose the impossible.

I love that it kept the tone of tragedy that has haunted Loki all through the MCU. I love how they were true to his character in that way, but AT THE SAME TIME allowed him to retain his new sense of self, all that growth we’ve shared through this series but also the change that he’s experienced while he’s been isolated during centuries trying to find a way to defeat HWR and keep the people on the branched timelines safe. His desperate act to do the right thing. And finally it is the right thing in the eyes of the universe and the audience, and yet he still loses. My heart just can’t bear it!

It’s perfect and it hurts.

once again, these are just my opinions (about a fictional show and characters, no less). I will not engage with incendiary arguments (if there are any) , but I am always open to polite discussions or thoughts🖤

Tyland I can’t even with you lmao-

Paranoid Aegon here we go…

I will give Aegon major kudos for initially objecting to Otto’s plan to parade about his son’s body. 💚 his instincts are there at times, he has just always been coddled, misguided, and not reprimanded when he needed to be.

Why is Aegon the only one spared from this parade? They 110% could have had her refrain from going out in public, and it might have been more effective. “The queen is so distraught, she is unable to leave her chambers.” Where’s the lie? And you spare that poor girl even more torture.

Helaena never wanted this, never wanted to be queen.💔 She’s not a queen who lost a prince, she is just a mother who lost her son.

Helaena is seeing something, I just don’t know what…

Where are the damn guards in this show?!?! So six go to unstick the carriage, you telling me you only have a handful of guards escorting the queen and dowager queen out and about in public?🤔

Daemon’s side eye I cannot😭😂-

Even Rhaenyra knows Helaena is innocent🖤

Anyone else’s Max suddenly run into an error at this point?

The fact that Daemon actually thinks it’s humorous😅

Godssssss this argument is painful but good, and it’s needed, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it💔

“You struck down a child.” The audible HURT in her words-

Baela has had a handful of scenes, if even that, and I already feel like we as the audience know who her character is and what she’s about right away. And her and Rhaenyra’s relationship dynamic is so honestly wholesome.

Whatever brownie points Aegon gained earlier are lost for him not having the balls to say even a WORD to Helaena, who ALSO lost a child, who, unlike him, had to go be paraded about the public for HIS political advantage.

Seeing Rhaenyra with her younger sons makes me seriously wonder what if🥺

Feeling guilty, Ser Crispy? Good.

REALLY? This b*tch really out here preaching about purity rn?! Gtfo now.

And NOW he’s pointing fingers?! Is this guy 35, or 5?!

“He’s murdered, on YOUR watch-“ is he dying soon? He’s dying soon, right? Honestly his death can’t come soon enough and I doubt it’ll even be this season-

Otto and Cole are probably the two most irredeemable characters on this whole show. Literally, team black or team green, I think just about every other person you can make an argument for. But these two have got nothing. Name me one thing, one expression of care for another that was not ultimately self serving for either of them in the end. I’ll wait.

“And Ser Harwin Strong?” BAELA KNOWS 🚨 BAELA KNOWS, and she doesn’t give AF, we stan🖤🖤🖤

This little relationship Aemond has going on is 🚩 🚩 🚩 where are this boy’s parents at-?! … Oh, wait.

“Where he does, he wishes to be his own master.” Rhaenys and Daemon just get each other. Their dynamic is so interesting.

“A week, or forever I do not know.” She sounds so unbothered😂😂😂

Uh oh Alicent, Rhaenyra may have just found a new bff👀 and it only took 16+ years

Errors are STILL being made in the wake of Viserys’s death I see…

The dog’s reaction nooo😭😭😭

“The king is my grandson, and my grandson is a fool. He’s worse than a fool, he’s murdered innocent men!” You can say allll the foul stuff about Otto you want, and you’d be right. But he is not wrong in this moment. This reaction is valid, and in my opinion sound council. The delivery could be tailored to better fit Aegon’s current headspace, but Otto’s reaction is still valid here I feel.

Crazy how Aegon went from wanting the small folk’s approval to scoffing at the need for it.

“Ser Criston Cole has acted.” BOY if you knew HOW Ser Criston Cole has been acting-

Also crazy how fast Aegon went from being pissed with Cole being “in bed” at the time of Jaehaerys’s murder to praising him and putting him in a pedestal.

“It’s time the bitch queen paid the price.” Could Larys have his guys cut out HIS tongue now?! Please??? Literally no one but Aegon, who’s grieving, paranoid, and a little off the rails rn, wants to hear a damn thing from him. Not even his dowager queen booty call wants anything from him rn.

I think Otto’s gonna give himself a heart attack.

Yooooo, Otto realizing that Aegon is going to be waaaaaaay harder to control than Viserys ever was😭😂😂😂 I love it. I need more. This is wonderful.

“He made me king.” *Otto laughs.*

“You will regret this.” THAT actually may be the truest words Otto has ever spoken to anyone, any king, in his life.

Mysaria is already proving her loyalty, we love to see it🖤

Moral of the story is everyone, the Greens and the Blacks, need better guards like😅

Urgh. Don’t. Yikes… Yevgeny. Mandy. Fiona. Everyone else on Shameless who disappeared and then was never spoken of again. Like… what the heck? You don’t need to get the actors back. Just get the other characters to mention them, so I don’t feel like the writers forgot they existed! Also don’t give me Dichen Lichman and then just take her away!!! 😭

What scene or moment do you feel isn’t discussed enough?

Every time Mickey has to say the end of his sentence directly into Ian’s mouth because Ian can’t wait the extra 3 seconds to let him finish, he needs his lips on that boy’s mouth NOW! They’re so precious and horny and I love that for them!

So my faves so far is:

Delico: he’s the black haired one with short hair and the blond baby and black haired kid. I feel this pull for him which you know means I’ll be simping. But he has this?? Aura?? That I love? The way he takes care of his children. He tries so hard. He literally says they cry endlessly and it’s honestly dreadful but he has the most tender expression! And then another one where he’s like “I’ll chases away anything that makes you cry”CAN YOU FEEL THE LOVE?! He’s strong and well known and they want to give him a mission but he prioritizes his family. I mean are you surprised that I like him given my love for a certain bat dad. Definitely my fave from the moment I laid my eyes on him in the trailer a year ago.

Gerhard: this one! This one has the potential for change! And boy, do I hope we get to see it. He has the potential to be changed by love and get domesticated. You’ll learn about him more in the first episode, but boy do I want parenthood to hit him in the face because he’s so surly and prideful. I just want to see that, you know? Get smacked in the face you long haired stubborn vamp. There’s a scene in the first episode that had me cackling. Kind of reminded me of a scene with Mal and lilia lol.

And and and

Okay, so not to make everything relatable to Lilia Vanrouge and how love and his family changed him (but its me, are you surprised?) but THE PARALLELS!! And the potential!!!

So Delico reminds me of current Lilia/Lilia that learned/accepted his ability to love versus Gerhard who reminds me of General Vanrouge who is only about duty and thinks babies should be raised by Nannies and are annoyances etc.

And that’s so funny and interesting to me??? I want to see how this whole situation develops in the future.

Their outfits and mannerisms show it too if you notice when you watch the episode.

(There’s another detail thats a parallel too that you’ll see in the beginning of the episode on why Delico cares so much about his family and why he’s taking it so seriously)

And I’m just?? PLEASE I NEED TO SEE VAMP DADS struggle and see their bonds with their kids, I need to see that look and realization, and Im hoping we get just that ahhh 💚💞🙏

i started watching season 5 of dts because a friend wants me to wait so we can watch season 6 together, and this is probably not a new take and something thats always talked about, but i really feel like lewis' original plan was to retire in 21' and winning the 8th title, i don't think he saw max winning at all

from the first two episodes he acts like the title was unfairly taken from him 😭😭 also just they way he sounds so done with the car and team i'm not surprised he moved to ferrari after his interviews for dts on the 2022 season

the ferrari move is for sure him trying to do something different with his legacy because having 8 titles didn't work out

Yeah, I said this at the time. He kept saying it wasn’t but it absolutely was. Every year since he’s come back like it’s a chore and I think that part of the resentment he’s has towards Toto, he’s like, “I shouldn’t even have to be here”.

He’s so entitled. I won’t spoil season 6 but..this continues. He really thinks that everything is his to lose, like his name is already on the trophy and they scrub it off if someone else happens to win. It’s such a British attitude. And that attitude is, why despite being a British citizen, I will never support a British sports team.

I think it’s sad that he’s keeping himself in the game out of what is essentially greed at this point. He doesn’t seem to enjoy it in the slightest. He’s broken so many records and achieved so much and it’s still not enough for him to the point where he’s shopped himself around for this fabled “ambassador” deal to keep his name in everyone’s mouth once he’s not racing? You really wonder if it’s because he has nothing in his life to retire to. You can’t tell me it has anything to do with the money. This move to Ferrari seems like the right one for him, they’re a team that stands on ceremony not business. I really wonder why they want him, I don’t think he’s a good brand ambassador for them at all, but they’ve got their plans clearly.

I wanna request something, buts it’s gonna be kinda long!

I was having this thought of like, maybe your gunil’s friend (so you’re a bit older than the other members. Around the same age as gunil tho) and you’re like, number one loser ever. A one way ticket straight to loser town (in a good way).

Like, they’re kind of cringe and talk awkward, but they mean well. So Gunil is tired of them being weird and single, so he sets them up with Jun Han (can’t remember how to spell his name and it isn’t saved on my phone anymore 😭) but he doesn’t choose Jun Han for any particular reason. That was just the first member he thought of.

So maybe the fic could be that first part, just the whole process gunil is going through, and then the date with Jun Han and reader? (Kinda as a prequel to the last fic I requested)

Lunchtime had struck again, which meant that this was officially day three in a row that Gunil had to listen to you go on about the new show you started watching. He didn’t mind it at first, but with every new episode you watched, Gunil had to endure yet another lunch period of you squealing about your new favorite obsession.

“Oh my god, Gunil, they finally went out on their first date! It was so cute! He took her shopping, and then you’ll never believe what happened!”

“What happened?” He asked half-heartedly.

“Her sister showed up! Can you believe that? God, she’s such a bitch!”

“Wait, I thought they were already married or something?”

You scoff with a roll of your eyes. “You really don’t pay attention when I talk, do you?”

Now it was Gunil’s turn to roll his eyes. He didn’t mind that you were talking to him about your show, but it had been three days straight of him hearing every single thought in your head about it. There was no way he would be able to internalize every single detail you’ve told him.

“Look,” he started, “I’m sorry, but maybe you should find someone who actually has watched this show to talk about it with.”

“Like who?” You ask, voice laced with sass. Your friend circle was small, to say the least, and Gunil knew this all too well. You watched as he put some thought into his answer.

“Someone like… Hyeongjun!”

You rolled your eyes again, “Not this again.”

“What?” Gunil prompted with a smile. “Shows like this are right up his alley, and he’s a sweet guy! I’m sure you two would really hit it off!” Hyeongjun was one of Gunil’s friends who was a few classes younger than the two of you. You had maybe spoken to the poor kid once or twice, but that was only because Gunil was with you, so you had a mutual friend to bridge the awkward conversation gap. You weren’t great with people, and Hyeongjun mainly kept to himself from what you could tell- and yet, Gunil thought you two were perfect for each other.

“Gunil, I think the only words I’ve ever heard that boy say are, ‘yes,’ ‘no,’ and ‘thank you.’”

“Exactly! You just gotta get him out of his shell a little bit!” Gunil’s hands started to wave around as he spoke- a telltale sign that he was getting passionate about the subject.

You let out a sigh, allowing your thoughts to stir around in your brain. “It would be nice to talk to someone who may actually listen to me…”

“Yes!” Gunil cheered, causing some other people in the lunchroom to look over at him. He didn’t seem to mind. “You should say something to him at the end of jazz band! He’ll be willing to talk, I promise.”

“Okay,” you agreed somewhat begrudgingly. “But if this goes south, you owe me.”

“You have my word.”

Your last class of the day was jazz band, and you couldn’t help but feel a lump form in your throat at the idea of having to go up to Hyeongjun and talk to him without Gunil present. Unfortunately for you, the time passed anyway, and your class was now over. The room was abuzz with the happy chatter of students all ready to make their way home or to their extracurricular sports or clubs. You eyed Hyeongjun, who was silently putting away his guitar. You looked over to Gunil, who was already watching you alongside one of his other friends, a boy who you believed to be Seungmin- a good friend of both Gunil and Hyeongjun. They encouragingly waved you over to Hyeongjun, each of them wearing a big smile on his face. With a sigh, you made your way over to him.

“Hi, um, Hyeongjun?” Your words came out a little shaky, and you really hoped he didn’t notice. You weren’t good with approaching people first.

He looked up at you as he latched his guitar case closed. “Hi,” he said simply, slight confusion lacing his tone.

“Um,” you stuttered, suddenly realizing that you didn’t plan out this conversation in your head at all, which is something you would normally do. You mentally cursed yourself for being unprepared. You swallowed lightly. “I was, uh, talking to Gunil at lunch, and he told me to come talk to you about, um, the- the new show I’m watching? He said you might also be watching it?”

“Oh,” he said with a small smile, rising to his feet and slinging his guitar case onto his back. “What show?”

“Um, My Happy Marriage?” You respond softly, hoping you didn’t sound silly for asking him if he’s been watching a magical romance anime. Much to your surprise, Hyeongjun’s face lit up into a bright smile.

“Oh my god, I love that show! I can’t wait for tomorrow’s new episode!” This was probably the most excited you had ever seen him. Granted, this was also the first real conversation you’ve ever had with him, so that wasn’t a hard goal to accomplish.

You smiled back at him. “So am I! I swear the new episodes are the only thing getting me through the week right now,” you chuckled a little, glad that this wasn’t as awkward as you were expecting.

“Me too,” he chuckled. “You’ll have to let me know what you think of the newest episode. I’ve gotta get home in a hurry today, but I’d love to talk with you sometime! I don’t know anyone else who’s watching this show.”

You nodded excitedly, “Yeah, absolutely! I-I’ll have to catch up with you sometime.”

“Awesome,” Hyeongjun smiled softly. “I’ll talk to you later.” With that, Hyeongjun double-checked to make sure he had all his stuff before making his way out of the band room.

“Ugh, you dumbass!” Gunil chastised, completely forgetting about this half-eaten lunch as you relayed the entire conversation you had had with Hyeongjun to him for a second time. “You should’ve invited him over!”

“What?” You scoffed, “No way.”

Gunil groaned again. “You’re never going to get a date to the prom this way!”

“Like you could help me with that.” You roll your eyes at Gunil’s insistence.

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“The only person I’ve ever seen you flirt with is Jungsu.”

“That doesn’t matter!” He protests, pointing a finger at you. “The point is, I think you and Hyeongjun could get along. You don’t have many friends, (Y/N).”

“Ouch?”

“You know what I mean!” He stresses. “You aren’t the most outgoing, and neither is Hyeongjun. But as someone who knows you both, I can tell you for certain that you have a lot in common!”

“Whatever,” you roll your eyes again; something that you’re now realizing is a common recurrence whenever Gunil opens his mouth. You suppose five years of friendship will do that to you. “I’ll try to talk to him again later today.”

He had opted to tie his hair back today. That was the first detail you noticed when you finally mustered up the courage to talk to Hyeongjun at the end of jazz band again. In the back of your mind, you wonder if this simple action would’ve went unnoticed before talking to him yesterday.

“Hyeongjun?” You approach him, voice soft with a hint of nerve.

He turns and catches your eye as he takes off the strap of his guitar. “Hey,” he smiles.

“Are you excited for tonight’s episode?” You ask with a nervous giggle, unsure of what to say to get the ball rolling.

He nods enthusiastically. “Oh yeah! If you want, I can give you my number and you can call me afterwards and tell me what you think.” His offer surprised you, and unfortunately for you and your bad poker face, it must’ve shown, because he let out a chuckle.

“Well a-actually,” you stuttered out, “I wanted to see if you maybe wanted to watch the episode together?”

Now it was his turn to look surprised. “Really?”

“Yeah! I-If that’s okay. I figured it would be easier to talk about it in person…” You looked away from his eyes for a second. Upon looking away, you noticed his nails were painted with a shiny black lacquer.

“That sounds fun,” Hyeongjun chuckled. You looked back up at him and noticed his smile. You wondered when the pink flush formed on his cheeks, but you chose not to think about it for too long.

“Awesome,” you smiled back. “I’ll go grab the rest of my things, and then we can start walking back to my place if that’s okay?”

“Sounds great,” he confirmed. With a quick nod, you turned on your heels to go grab your backpack and instrument. Once you were a few steps away, Hyeongjun shot Gunil- who had been watching the entire exchange- a look from across the room. He chuckled to himself, rolled his eyes, and mouthed, “I’ll text you later.”
