teasing him about his full name . . .

“i can’t believe your full name are all first names!”

you have gone at it for a moment now, after reading an article about trent explaining where he got his name, you decided to ask trent about his actual full name and you almost spit out your drink when he told you.

“trent john alexander-arnold?!”

he was amused by your reaction. you were holding your stomach, rolling on the floor, huffs of laughter escaping your mouth.

you were so distracted by the new information, you didn’t realise robbo walking through the door, already confused at the scene before him.

trent sent robbo tired smile, “hey.” before turning to look at you with soft eyes that went unrecognise.

not to robbo tho. he knows.

“what the hell is goin’ on?” robbo laughs, walking over to sit on the couch, already munching on the snacks that was on the table. it was supposed to be movie night, but with the way the situation is going, it may start later than normal.

trent shrugged his shoulders, “yer done?” he asked, bitting his lip. a teasing tone layering his voice as he moved to crouch down to were you were laying.

you finished up the last of your laughter, wiping up imaginary tears under your eyes and place your hand on trent’s shoulder. “yeah.” you sighed, “but this will not be the last time of this. cause damn.” a chuckle left your mouth before it turns into a full blown laughter again.

trent rolled his eyes. you would think that he was annoyed but with the little smile thats curling up his lips, it shows otherwise.

robbo shook his head, “just get married already you two.”

both of your head snapped over to look at robbo with wide eyes as your cheek and neck became warm at his comment.

you shook your head and stood up, giggles escaping yourself, “you’re moving mad, y’know.” you moved to sit at the couch telling robbo to scoot over to give you some space. ignoring how your heart feels all fuzzy by the thought of being with trent.

copying you, trent stood up from his position and let out an awkward cough, “yeah.” before starring at you, the light provided by the sun setting outside lays a soft glow on your face and trent thought,

huh.

maybe it isn’t that mad.

thinking about todd and his resolve toward… not quite isolation, but being alone in a room full of people again. he goes along to the study room to sit on his own and do his homework, he sits at the poets table and follows along with what’s being said while keeping quiet, he goes to the meetings at all but doesn’t necessarily contribute (in fact, if you watch him when cameron is telling the story ‘from camp in sixth grade’, you can see that he recognizes it before any of the other poets but doesn’t voice it until they all have). he’s not alone, necessarily, if you want to get technical about it, he’s just lonely, and he’s generally okay with that. he doesn’t have friends and that’s fine, he doesn’t participate in class and that’s fine, he doesn’t have a relationship with his family and that’s fine—he could live without any real connection and he’d have been, more or less, fine.

the thing about when he says “i can take care of myself just fine!” is that he isn’t really wrong, you can infer that he’s been doing it his entire life anyway, it’s that ‘taking care of yourself’ isn’t the same thing as really living or being happy. todd’s an introvert, certainly, and even as he gets closer to the group he defaults to sitting quietly in the background, but he’s also denying himself community out of fear not introversion. todd isn’t friendless because he’s an introvert, although that definitely plays a part, he’s friendless because he pushes anyone that might want his company away. if anyone has every wanted for his attention in the first place. (neil’s unwavering interest in him is unique (even when it comes to the rest of the poets, who are fine with todd coming along and joining the group, but aren’t really hellbent on him being there in the beginning) and his refusal to accept it is a direct result of being so lonely growing up.)

there’s obviously something to be said about the implications of his parents neglect, and the more than likely fact that he grew up friendless, and how those both play a part in in him being so skilled at dodging social interaction/being so avoidant of it, but by the time we see him in the movie he’s all but accepted his fate as being alone his entire life. he’s already accepted being the family disappointment, and he’s already accepted he’ll never amount to anything, and he obviously doesn’t like it, but he’d have managed living with that knowledge without the confirmation that it was all wrong. would he have been miserable? almost certainly. but he’d have managed. he’d done it for that long already, anyhow.

that 90s show isn’t even out yet and I’m already thinking about the possibility of all throughout season 1 it’s shown that jackie and kelso don’t have a great marriage, like it’s constantly hanging on by a thread. it’s just an ongoing issue in the background of whatever the new main cast is up to. same with hyde’s character- he’s just constantly mentioned in the background of whatever else is happening. the adults will mention that he’s being a nuisance in some other state or maybe he went to london to partake in their punk scene. finally season two comes around (if it’s even good enough for multiple seasons) and Surprise hyde shows up out of nowhere ready to be the Cool Conspiracy Uncle to eric and donna’s kid, and he’s very obviously been recast but no one ever mentions it, or it’s mentioned once or twice in a very comedic way. anyway hyde is Here Now and it kind of sends jackie into a tailspin and she has to come to terms with the fact that she’s still in love with him and her marriage is failing and how to even deal with All of that. and This is how burkhyde can still win thank you

Tim realizing the best ways to hide your secret identity is to either be in love with them or to hate them, and since he already has a crush on an actual person he decides to go the hating Robin route

He can’t go about like Bruce does, him and Batman having a weird exes that weren’t ever dating thing, and he can’t do Clark’s I-disagree-with-Superman’s-methods thing because he has to be original and he refuses to go the easy route of having an actual excuse to avoid his secret identity

What Tim decides on is this:

They have beef. The beef will not be explained but there will be twitter wars. When asked they will only respond with “they know what they did”. They are fighting in a Denny’s parking lot. Bets are placed. There is video evidence. Surprisingly Tim wins. This is not explained. It becomes a running meme in Gotham.

Young Justice finds out- they don’t know Robin’s identity- they make fun of him. He kicks their asses in training. They are left questioning if Tim Drake could kick their asses. They belive Tim Drake is an upcoming Rouge. They do not know why Robin has been laughing his head off for the last ten minutes. Then they see a video of Tim face planting while skateboarding. They are no longer concerned. Robin is still laughing. They realize that Robin just really hates Tim and the hatred seems requited. They make their own memes.

Jason comes back to life. He sees the memes. He is confused. If Bruce is Batman, and Tim Drake, Bruce’s son (??? He has parents?), is not Robin, then who is? And does this mean that Bruce did not replace him?

Bruce has no clue this is happening.

Tim is having the time of his life.
