spoilers for the latest warframe expansion if that's something you care about
the wiki entry for Original Loid has this in the trivia
okay sure, but I think it's way more than "very likely" that Loid and Albrecht were romantic partners. Every single time Loid refers to him it's as "my Albrecht". He tore up Albrecht's diary because Albrecht leaving hurt him so much.
one of the last things Albrecht does before fucking off into the past in the opening cinematic is gently stroking Loid's face while Loid struggles to hold back tears
Albrecht's diary page, that Loid tore out and hid, is full of Albrecht saying that Loid was his foundation and emotional support and he was unkind to him and he regrets not having an even more intimate relationship with him.
these two mens' loves for each other shine so brightly you could navigate a ship with them. like, sure, it's technically true that we don't get explicit confirmation, just implications and context. but "very likely" feels like the understatement of the year

Summary: Darry and Reader argue, so Reader gives Darry space, but Darry misses Readerâs presence
Contains: Darry x Reader, no use of y/n, readerâs gender is unspecified
Warnings: Mentions of arguing/fighting, Reader is called sweetheart, Reader has one specific/explicit line of dialogue, maybe one uncharacteristic line from Darry, bittersweet stuff
Prompts: âperson a being mad at person b, so person b gives them some alone time. only to find person a trying to drag them back to bed bc they miss person bâs presence.â (@/keyotosprompts)
Requested? No
A/N: This has been in my drafts for a little while cuz I wasn't sure on if I should post it, enjoy :) It's short, mb
You and Darry had gotten into a bit of a disagreement, and it got a bit heated because he was already stressed and sore from work and he kind of just took out said aggression on you and the disagreement you had. Because of this, you had come to the decision to just leave Darry alone to give him time to cool off and destress, and went for a walk around town for a bit, also taking it as an excuse to run a few errands.
Once you finally came back, you set down a bag or two of groceries you had gotten while out onto the kitchen counter, and began to unpack them. The house was almost unnaturally quiet. It was the evening. Sodapop was on a date with Sandy and Ponyboy was out at the movies with some of the gang, but you werenât sure on where Darry was.
You heard footsteps behind you and turned your head when you suddenly felt a pair of arms wrap around your waist from behind. It was Darry.
ââM sorry about earlier, sweetheart. . .â He murmured.
âI thought you wanted some space.?â You asked, pausing in your unpacking of the groceries.
âI donât need space, I need you.â He replied, huffing out a big, tired, and heavy exhale of breath against your skin.
You had finished unpacking the groceries in a few minutes, with the help of Darry, and you were now sat down on the couch while Darry was sitting in his chair.
Your disagreement from earlier had been over something trivial; Ponyboyâs grades. Ponyboy had gotten a B- on his latest assignment in math and Darry wasnât too proud of him. You knew that Darry was only wanting the best for Ponyboy, but he was also trying too hard to make something out of him. You had defended Ponyboy and said some version of that it was just a B- and Ponyboy has his own strengths in certain subjects and weaknesses in others, but Darry still got frustrated about it. He had hollered at Ponyboy some, and was awfully stern with you, saying, âHeâs my kid brother and I can be as harsh to him as I want to!â
After the fact, it was now a bit awkward; quiet. You were kind of just waiting for Ponyboy and Sodapop to come home so you could all go to bed and relax for the night.
Within the next little while, Ponyboy and Sodapop had come home, walking through the door and chatting for a bit. Soda and Ponyboy went to their room for the night a bit after and you guys did the same. Darry was lying in bed behind you, one of his big, muscular arms draped over your waist, his body close to yours.
âI know I can be a bit harsh on Pony. I just want the best for him and I want him to do good.â Darry murmured to you out of the blue. You knew he wasnât very emotional, and he also didnât apologize too much, so this really was out of the blue. âJust. . . Whenever we fight, donât assume I want to be alone after..â He let out a sigh, subconsciously holding you a little bit closer under the covers.

broke my promise to myself and actually watched the jey/gunther match and let me tell you... whoever booked that finish wanted jey to look like an idiot. mega rant under the cut which you should honestly read im not your mama but you should read it
he splashes gunther after getting dominated for 80% of the match and an (honestly underwhelming) spear and we're meant to believe the +2yr champion who's beaten virtually everyone on the roster (including drew who recently beat jey TWICE) was about to be defeated right there?......okay............ but it gets worse
when the referee (for no real good reason) stops the count at 2 after jimmy rings the bell, jey "forgets" about gunther and turns his back to him, allowing gunther to get back up almost IMMEDIATELY (remember we were meant to think he was about to be beaten 5 seconds earlier) yet jey quickly superkicks him BUT THEN decides to dive at jimmy on the outside instead of going directly for another splash (girl help) so ofc when he does go for the splash, gunther gets the knees up, and to add a cherry on top of this shit sunday, pins jey right there after performing no extra offense - doesn't even roll him up, jey just lies there flat on his back and gets pinned (while michael cole screams "GUNTHER ROLLS UP JEY USO" to make me even more mad, apparently, as zero actual rolling takes place in the ring - just a leg hook & weight on the shoulders combo... and not a particularly vicious one either) I just ??????
and of-fucking-course as the TV feed gets cut, cue cody and punk who come out all smiles ready to do the usual fanservice routine for the live crowd and suddenly jey is mostly done selling what just happened and is smiling along with whatever you wanna call it - sending the crowd home happy?? since when did that become mandatory for broadcast shows??? why can't emotionally devastating moments count just as much when it comes to delivering a satisfying ending to the live crowd??? are you telling me they couldnt have had jey walk to the back WHILE SELLING the heartbreak/frustration of what happened and THEN send cody out to do the fanservice thing??? fuck maintaining suspension of disbelief I guess - you can't even argue that "it's fine it was just a treat for the live crowd" because WWE has posted the footage everywhere and promoted it heavily.
imagine if after the camera stopped rolling at last year's rumble, sami had got up, undone kevin's handcuffs and they both hugged and cut a cheerful promo at the crowd - everyone would've blasted wwe for undermining the impact of that finish and not letting the moment breathe.
here's another, even more similar example - remember what happened after summerslam when jimmy attacked jey? he sold the devastation of the moment all the way until he exited the arena, so why is this any different? because it's "just" TV and not a PPV? nah, i'll tell you why: because wwe does not give a shit about this current version of jey's character - he's there to spew the same catchphrase 100x an hour (because it sells merch and pops the crowd let's be honest), display a grand total of two personality traits, and rub his popularity off onto the people wwe actually consider stars
for comparison - you cannot tell me that if it was cody in this position (just lost an important match thanks to the most important person in his life + got attacked by them on top of it) wwe wouldn't have had him look devastated or cut an emotional, tearful promo that would've then been posted and promoted everywhere
"chill, it's not that serious" my apologies for wanting something i love (and KNOW can be so much better with minimal effort) to have a basic level of logic and thought put into it, it's not like wrestling booking is rocket science and we know wwe is NOT incapable of actually delivering good stuff ?? the standards for this show are so damn low and seeing no one else be bothered by it does my fucking head in ouch ouch wheres the aspirin bye
#jey uso#wwe#the usos#jimmy uso#i fr wasnt gonna tag this at first#but fuck it i'm mad and yall will hear about it#if you consider yourself a jey fan in any way shape or form... i genuinely think you should read this

Now that the show is over, here are my final thoughts on My Love Mix-Up TH as compared to its original versions.
My Love Mix-Up is one of my all-time favorite stories, and GeminiForth blew me away in MSP, so when I heard they were making a Thai adaptation, it instantly became one of my most anticipated of 2024. I thought they would be perfect for the characters, and the goofiness of the drama is the exact flavor Thailand usually eats up.
TLDR: I felt the writing of the th version lacked a core understanding of how to be different from its predecessor while also maintaining the integrity of the original plot and characters. Had this version been my first introduction to this story, I would have enjoyed it much more. But since it's the third, I couldn't help but feel an overwhelming longing for what could have been.
It took me a few episodes to really figure out what exactly about this version wasn't hitting right. I knew it wasn't the acting (even though I am in the boat of gemforth should have been cast for eachothers characters, but I'm not gonna get into the why in this post). Both actors proved they are more than capable to pull off this story by what they showed us in their previous projects. It also wasn't the obscene amount of ads (for me). I've seen enough thai dramas to expect and embrace the ads, and I felt they were actually weeved into the story in a way that mostly made sense and didn't detract too much.
For me it really came down to the writing and directing. They definitely saw the silliness of the plot and characters and had an absolute field day, but then they didn't stop. They went constantly from one scene to the next, onto the next goof or gag, they never let the audience breathe. They didn't know how to slow down and let the characters have a serious moment.
I think the first nail in the coffin for me was the scene where Half figures out Atom actually likes Kongthap like for real. In the jp version, it's a heavy scene treated with the real seriousness of the situation. Aida realizes his friend has feelings for a man, and Aoki is filled with so much anxiety in that moment that you can feel it through the screen. Because it is a serious moment, Aoki could lose his best friend, his secret could be out, it could ruin his life. So when Aida not only reassures Aoki that he accepts him, but also apologizes for not being a friend that could be trusted with the secret and inadvertently ending his relationship with Ida, it becomes a beautiful scene that strengthens their friendship. In the th version, it's a quick conversation between Half and Atom with little anxiety about what is actually being discussed. It makes the scene feel unimportant, unserious, when in reality it's very important to not only the plot, but also in Atom and Half's characterization.
I also felt this way about many scenes involving Konthap's character. His main arc is about understanding his feelings and emotions and telling the difference between platonic and romantic love. For the sake of length, I'll only highlight one scene.
After their successful first date and back in Ida's room, Ida teases Aoki when he gets flustered about the idea of Ida changing in front of him. Aoki gets mad because it feels like Ida isn't taking their relationship seriously, and it becomes I huge turning point for Ida as he contemplates his intentions toward Aoki and whether or not it's friendship or more. It's something he struggles with before this scene AND after, so when he finally truly gets it and asks Aoki to really be his bf, it holds a huge emotional weight in-story and in the audience.
In the th version, Kongthap comes to terms with this struggle in the very same scene after seemingly not much thought. While I do appreciate that the fight wasn't dragged out, it kind of just takes away one of the characters main traits, makes him more emotionally intelligent earlier in the story, and thus takes away from the final outcome when Kongthap and Atom actually get together. Kongthap seems to only struggle with his feelings when it's convenient to the plot (ie not knowing how to initiate a first kiss) rather than it being and overarching character trait that he overcomes.
It's why their rooftop kiss, while a very beautiful scene, doesn't hold the emotional weight a rooftop kiss with fireworks in the background is supposed to have.
It's why I'm not upset they removed the amnesia dream-sequence from the final act. No need to watch Kongthap struggle with the loss of Atom's love for him in an anxiety-induced dream brought on by the idea of being separated by college and Kongthap finally realizing why he's so scared of being separated, when Kongthap seemingly no longer struggles with understanding his emotions and feelings.
And I think what hurts the most is that there were plenty of scenes in the second half that showed they were capable of being dramatic or serious the whole time. The train scene where Atom was leaving Bangkok and they both realized they didn't want to part and the accapella version of the main theme swelled in the background was SO GOOD.
It just highlighted how poorly the writing team handled the part of the series that was a remake of the jp version, and by the time they got to the parts not made in live action before, it was too late because the groundwork was not there to support the growth and change of the characters.
(Also I'm sad they didn't include the bit where Aoki learns Ida is actually younger than him on his birthday. Its a small gag that I thought Thailand would absolutely jump on)
(Also did Atom ever tell Mudmee that he had a crush on her before it became Kongthap? I think the fact I can't remember kinda just proves my point of this whole post.)
#my love mix up th#my love mix up series#atomkongthap#geminifourth#dont get me wrong i did like the series#it just could have been better#such is the curse of remaking a beloved story that already has a beloved adaptation

Miscellaneous post-s4 Sopranos thoughts
Iâm still trying to figure out why so many viewers hate Meadow so much. Sheâs had her moments of selfishness and immaturity and even cruelty, but she's been improving. In 4x12, she comes off very mature and gracious, whereas her mother keeps picking fights with her and refusing to take the opportunities Meadow gives her to talk about whatâs bothering her.Â
Actually, Tony was surprisingly mature in that episode as well, at least in familial matters. Sure, early on he complained that Carmela could be âa moody bitchâ (youâre one to talk, king), but in the rest of the episode he actually does a pretty good job being a diplomat between his wife and daughter. In my journal entry for this episode (Iâve been doing one for every episode since partway through season 3) I wrote âhe put the bar on the floor, then he sailed over it.âÂ
It didnât last long, though. He was back to being despicable in 4x13, whereas I canât think of a single moment in 4x13 where I wasnât cheering for poor Carmela.
One of like a million ways Christopher mirrors Tony: in 4x13, he says that while he doesn't intend to apologize to the people his addiction hurt, he might send flowers or money in a few cases. Those are both things Tony has given in lieu of actually making things right: earlier this season, he sent Melfi flowers after blowing up at her about Gloriaâs death, and last season, when he felt bad about getting the cop that ticketed him demoted, he tried to slip him some cash. Neither Melfi nor the cop was receptive to these gestures. Heâs had better luck buying Carmelaâs forgiveness, or at least forbearance, but even sheâs getting sick of it: Whitecaps is "just a bigger version of an emerald ring, so you can keep on with your other life.â
Another character in the same boat, thematically speaking, as Tony and Christopher is Paulie. In 4x12, he tries to blame his fall from grace in Tonyâs eyes on Silvio: âIt's your fault anyway. All this shit started with that Russian prick when I had to go pick up your $5,000.â As if itâs Silvioâs fault that Paulie bungled that mission! (That reminds me, I still havenât written the Pine Barrens post I want to write.) Then again, Iâm not sure Paulie really believes what heâs saying. Heâs just lashing out because heâs mad at Silvio for (very gently) warning him that âcertain people are starting to wonder where your heart is.â Thatâs the sort of thing Tony does all the time: dredge up flimsy old grievances as a shield against completely reasonable criticisms of him.
Oh, speaking of Silvio, I really enjoyed his little moments of rebellion against Tony earlier in the season (âNo Showâ and âChristopherâ are the only examples I can think of). I hope that theme comes back in the future.
I donât understand why Johnny hasnât said anything about Paulie to Carmine! The mob politics are very interesting but Iâm usually just barely following whatâs going on. Well, maybe it will become clear.
I ended up really enjoying Ralphie! I miss him.
To be honest, I donât care about Junior that much. Heâs fine when heâs just interacting with other characters, but I donât really care about his storyline. Most of the time, when thereâs a Junior-centric scene, Iâm just waiting to get back to the characters I actually care about (i.e., almost everyone else).
I read in a review of âFrom Where to Eternityâ that Michael Imperioli has been criticized for giving his own character too big a role in the episodes that he wrote. I told this to my friend whoâs watching the show along with me, and we both agreed that we would never criticize him for that because Christopher is one of the most interesting characters and we canât get enough of him. Well, Iâve now seen four out of the five Imperioli episodes, and not one of them has put enough weight on Christopher for this criticism to make sense, so what the fuck? Where are these Christopher-heavy episodes we were promised? âMarco Poloâ had better deliver, or I may cry.
Melfi is only in eight out of thirteen episodes next season because David Chase hates me personally and wants me to suffer. However, I read online that back when the show was airing, some people thought that Tony quitting therapy was Chase preparing to remove Melfi from the show entirely, so I guess I should count my blessings that he didnât go that route. God, Iâm so in love with her. Sheâs so incredibly important to me.

To follow up on an earlier post
Link to AOS:
â¤ď¸Absolutely Smittenâ¤ď¸
- TOS Spirk edition
A/n:
It gets pretty angsty so hold on.
Also know in this Fic, Bones doesnât know the details about Tarsus IV that info is extremely classified and really, only select people know about it. So itâs really been swept under the carpet in this particular fic.
--
Spock heads down the hallway and to Jimâs quarters. Buzzing in as he always does.
....
No response.
So he tried again.
...
No response.
Now things were getting a little concerning. So when he buzzed for a third time and got no response he types in the override code for Jimâs quarters. Absolutely worried sick, and he realized standing there that...
Spock canât feel their bond.
That prospect alone sends his heart racing even faster than his normal resting heart rate. Yet he swallows his panic as the doors open with their familiar squeak and heâs engulfed into a warm dark room. The doors squeak again as they closed behind him.
âJim? My Jim, where are you? Are you alright?â
The worry while he can control it physically, slips into his tone. Eyes already adjusting for the darkness of the room, a small tribute to his Vulcan biology. His eyes adjust much quicker than a humans does.
âGo away Spock.â
Came the sharpest reply the Vulcanâs almost positive heâs ever heard. While the words themselves were not super harmful, the tone punctured.
On the bed was a small heep of blankets, he can only assume that huddled in all of those blankets was his Husband. He allows himself to frown and his brows to furrow. Jim never wanted him to leave whenever he was upset, always wanting him to hold close and not let go. So something, although going through his eidetic memory he doesnât see anything.
âJim, My-â
âI said Go. Away. Commander. Consider it an order from your Captain.â ďżźďżź
Something was really wrong then. Yet he would not leave Jimâs side. Whatever it was, he had made a vow until death did they part. He wasnât leaving.
âThen you will need to fill out the insubordination paperwork shortly.â
He sees the blankets move, and he can only assume he is being looked at.
âI am not leaving Kâdiwa. I am your bond mate, and I am worried about you. You did not answer your door, I cannot feel our bond, and your tone is enough evidence that there is something bothering you. I vowed to care for you and I intend to get to the bottom of it, so if that means facing insubordination charges then I will.â
More ruffling of sheets and blankets, and now he can see his bond mate. The dark brown hair, and make out his eyes in the darkness. Hand reached out towards him, and the pain is so sharp at the horrible broken voice his beloved uses. Their bond floods open and he can feel all of the jagged edges of self hatred attacking Jimâs mind.
âS-Sp-ock-â
His feet move on their own and in moments flat Spock had Jim in his lap still wrapped in a couple of blankets but held firmly. He sobs begging apologies from his lips and promises to never leave him. Every broken sound that leaves him makes the Vulcanâs heart ache, and wanting to tear apart whoever caused these precious tears to spill.
He assures Jim that he did no wrong, that he did not feel any hurt emotions at his words. That there was nothing there other than his overwhelming concern for the person he values the most. That he will always be there. Always.
He sends all of the pure intense love he feel for the brunette in his lap and reassurance through their bond to Jim. Using their physical proximity as an easy way to tap into his belovedâs head in gentle attempts to soothe the hurt he can feel. Whatever caused this got him good, where it hurt.
Eventually he calmed and Spock whispers gently resting his forehead against his humanâs,
âKâdiwa, My James, will you tell me now what is wrong?â
... Thereâs hesitation showing in those hazel eyes staring up at him,
âI promise you, no matter what you say, I will listen to every word.â
...
âIs there a problem with how I eat, Spock?â
What? That was such an odd question. Yet with those hazel eyes hanging onto his every moment for his reply he placed a gentle kiss to his forehead and answered,
âI have never seen it vary from normal that would produce the need for comment or medical intervention.â
...
âDo I hoard food, Spock?â
Spock instead of answering taps into their bond and catches just the thought of one event.
Tarsus IV
âHaâsu, does this have to do with Tarsus IV?â
He asks and Jim looks away ashamed- he knows heâs ashamed because he canât hide it this close to Spock. Yet using one hand he guides his beautiful hazel gaze back to his own.
âMy Kâdiwa, Tarsus IV is an indescribable horror you had to face at such a young age. I know you have tried your best to heal some of those wounds. I know this trauma will haunt you for the rest of your life, and it will always affect how you eat. A famine and genocide. Yes, I do notice you have a few non-perishable items around your quarters. However, I simply attributed them to the fact Humans need to eat more frequently.â
He runs a hand through those brown locks he loves so, so very much. He watches as those lips, a little swollen from his cries open,
âWhen food became such a struggle and for so long...I-I justââ
âShh. You need not explain yourself to me. Your trauma and struggle with food is not invalid. It will never ever. Ever. Be invalid.â
This brings back a smaller wave of tears as his husbands arms wrapped around his neck rather then around his middle as they were originally.
âDid someone bring this up?â
âYes.â
âWho?â
âBones. Though he didnât bring Tarsus itself up, he just made a comment on my eating habits and it well...Lead to an argument. He doesnât know the full story though. I just havenât told him yet because I havenât been ready to. He only knows what my records say. Which isnât much because the federation wanted to keep it hush hush.â
Spock nodded. So he would have to make a trip to Medbay and have an informative discussion with Dr. McCoy.
âPlease donât be mad at Him. He doesnât know,â
âI am not mad because he did not know. However, I will be having a conversation with him if you are amenable to that to inform him of it so you will not have to.â
He feels a gentle nod at his words. Agreeing with him
âI love you, and thank you for not leaving me alone and being willing to talk to Bones for me.â
âI love you too, my Jim. I am absolutely smitten for thee, and I wish you to never forget that. Sleep now,â
âI wonât, I promise I will never forget...â
Sleep the brunette does. Itâs almost mere moments and he feels their bond gently going dormant. Itâs still several moments before he gently rests his husband down and goes to speak with McCoy.
â
(Bonus scenes because I feel like it)
â
âOh my god,â
Leonardâs hand his over his mouth. He was sitting at his desk as Spock had advised him to do so. Shock and guilt coated over himself.
âI didnât know, I swear-â
âHe informed me of such. I am not mad Dr. McCoy. I simply wished for you to understand.â
âI need to go apologize-â
âHe is resting, however I am willing to let you know when he wakes.â
âYes. Right. Thank you, Spock. I promise, I never would of said anything if Iâd known. The only thing in his files says is heâs a Tarsus IV survivor. Nothing more. I never even knew what it was until now.â
âI understand Dr. McCoy.â
And he does.
âI will leave you to process this, and to go attend to Jim when he wakes.â
Leonard nodded as Spock exited.
-
Spock was holding Jim as he yawns and those Hazel eyes open. He doesnât say anything but he can feel the gentle buzz in his head from seeing that his husband was still here just as he promised he would be.
âCommander Spock to Medbay,â
..
âMedbay here, What is it?â
âThe Captain is awake if you wish to see him,â
âAlright. Be up in 15 minutes.â
âNoted. Spock out,â
The transmission was cut.
His partner seemed confused, so Spock relayed the message.
âHe wishes to apologize directly, and I said I would inform him of your awakening.â
A simple nod comes from Jim.
...
It was actually less than 15 minutes when Bones shows up. Normally Leonard would say something to get them apart, but given what happened he isnât going to say a thing about Spock holding Jim.
âJim?â
The brunetteâs head turns to look at his best friend.
âHey, I wanted to apologize for what I said.â
He sits down on the edge of the bed. Spock watches as those hazel eyes follow him.
âJim, god. I never, I never would have said any- any of that if I had known. I promise you. I had no idea what sort of demon you deal with every time you go to eat in your head.â
âItâs alright-â
âItâs not though Jim. I shouldnât have said those things in-â
âLeonard.â
The doctors name makes him fall quiet.
âLeonard, You didnât know. I hadnât told you...Yet now that you know, could we schedule an appointment to maybe..do something about it?â
âMaybe try some anti-anxiety medications?â
Jim nodded.
âYou got it kiddo. Whenever youâre ready you just let me know alright?â
âAlright.â
Bones gives a nod to Spock who had been silent for this whole time. He knows that means to gently and lovingly encourage him to do so in the near future. He leaves but not before Jim surprised them both by pulling the doctor into a hug. They held on for just a few moments and even Spock could tell the world was alright once more. The doctor then left, and Spock went back to holding his partner. Humming as he gently guided him back to sleep, and shortly drifted off after.

Madam Yu is an Amazing Character, Here's Why
What's up guys it's been 57 years but I finally have another meta lmao. Shoutout to those who helped me decide on this one, and for those who wanted the Yi City analysis? Don't worry that's coming soon lol.
So Madam Yu is a really important character in MDZS, and hereâs a whole meta post about why I think sheâs (in my opinion) the best-written minor character in the entire story. Quick note though, this meta is going to focus on the animation specifically, because thatâs my favourite version of Madam Yu (though design-wise, Audio Drama Madam Yu is best lmao). The novel and CQL versions will be mentioned, but I donât quite remember all the novel details and I donât really like CQL-Madam Yu, so yeah. ^^; Also, this is talking about her character writing, not her morality as a person if she were real. Feel free to disagree with the post, but here's my take on her and why I love her despite not liking her as a person.
Anyways let's goooooooo. Warning: This is pretty long cuz I have a lot of feelings about Madam Yu ZiYuan.Â
Madam Yu is a very well written character, easily the best written female and minor character in my opinion. From her very first appearance, we are shown much of her personality in very little time. In the novel, we are told of her fearsome reputation and why she goes by Madam Yu instead of Madam Jiang, followed by her verbal abuse towards Jiang Cheng in front of the other disciples. In the animation, she is shown talking down to the struggling disciples and scowling as soon as she sees Wei WuXian, despite smiling at Jiang YanLi moments earlier. In CQL, she is shown with a commanding authority over her husband and children, and in all three versions weâre shown how much she hates Wei WuXian. We also see her verbally abusing Jiang Cheng (Wei WuXian in the animation) in her introduction scenes, but also some degree of motherly love showed by how she adjusts Jiang Chengâs clothes (or showing a kind smile to Jiang YanLi in the animation).Â
Her introduction scenes alone tell us the core important traits of her character: That sheâs a fierce and prideful woman, that she is a powerful cultivator with a frightening reputation (the animation and CQL also make a point to show ZiDian in her hands in her introductions), and that she is an abusive mother despite having love for her children (but not Wei WuXian). We also instantly understand that SHE is the reason why Jiang Cheng is so uptight about saving face for the Jiang Sect when Wei WuXian never seemed to give a fuck about it (he does, but you know, teen Wei Ying lol), berating Jiang Cheng constantly about how he doesnât seem to be doing well enough despite being the future Sect Leader. Sheâs kind of the epitome of the âItâs for your own goodâ brand of abusive parent.Â
Thereâs a scene in the animation, Episode 6, that strongly shows the discord between her and Jiang FengMian. This scene, though hard to watch cuz my favourite character is Wei Ying, is one of my absolute favourite character building scenes in the whole adaption, which makes me sad that itâs not in the other mediums (that Iâm aware of). If you havenât seen the animation, PLEASE go watch it because gods thatâs my favourite version of Madam Yu.Â
In this scene, Madam Yu is relaxing alone in one of the pavilions late at night, and Jiang FengMian joins her. Sheâs civil at first, speaking without any real hostility as she asks what he was doing out so late. He offers her a gift in the form of a jade hairpin, and says he bought it because he thought it was beautiful when she asked why he bought âsuch a useless thingâ. Jiang FengMian then tells her of Jiang YanLi and Jin ZiXuanâs arranged marriage being called off, and while sheâs obviously annoyed, she still doesnât speak with the same fierceness or hostility as she did previously.Â
That is, until Jiang FengMian makes a comment about how the children should not be forced into a marriage without love between them.
This is clearly a sore spot for Madam Yu, who immediately becomes hostile. Even the gentle music takes a darker turn for the shift in tone. She then makes a comment about how âWei Ying always causes troubleâ, and subtly looks back to gauge Jiang FengMianâs reaction. As soon as her husband defends Wei WuXian, she lashes out. She accuses Jiang FengMian of treating Wei WuXian better than his own son, and goes as far as to say that if Jiang Cheng had started the fight with Jin ZiXuan, Jiang FengMian wouldnât have been in such a hurry to help him. In Madam Yuâs defense for this accusation, itâs not completely an unfair assumption, as Jiang FengMian does canonically treat Wei WuXian better, and the fact that he didnât even try to deny Madam Yuâs accusation is very telling. Madam Yu then laughs bitterly about how Sect Leader Jiang will always be there to clean up Wei Yingâs messes before she walks away without a word, and the scene cuts to Wei WuXian watching them forlornly in the distance.Â
I really really love this scene as character building, because from this scene we are very quickly shown Madam Yuâs personal problems, and how she resents her unhappy marriage and blames it on the child she believes took it from her, but the scene also doesnât hold back on showing that sheâs the one being unreasonable and unwilling to talk things out because she lets anger, pride and resentment control her. We see how she was fine and willing to try and talk at first, trying to reason with Jiang FengMian about why the marriage should be carried out, because their daughter does like Jin ZiXuan, and she also wants the Jiang Sect to have good relations to the Jin Sect like the Meishan Yu Sect does due to her close friendship with Madam Jin. This shows that she does care about her daughterâs feelings and that sheâs doing what she can to help the Jiang Sect. But as soon as the sore topic of the loveless marriage is brought up, she blames Wei WuXian for it and starts the argument.Â
From this scene, we also learn the extent of Jiang FengMianâs favouritism and how it hurt Madam Yu as well as their son, and having Wei WuXian watching their argument creates a nice transition into the next scene where he apologies to Jiang YanLi for ruining the marriage, showing that he feels guilty about the situation and most likely, the discord between his adoptive parents in general.Â
As the story goes on, we see that Madam Yuâs problem is basically based ENTIRELY around Wei WuXian. She gets mad at Jiang YanLi for peeling lotus seeds for him. She gets mad at Jiang FengMian for giving Wei WuXian a choice to go or not to go to the Wen doctrine. She gets mad at Jiang Cheng for trying to calm her down and berates him for not being as good as Wei WuXian. As the audience, we are more sympathetic to Wei WuXianâs point of view, and so far Madam Yu comes off as an abusive bitch who hates him for no reason.Â
Then after the whole XuanWu incident, we get the scene where Madam Yu storms in on Wei WuXianâs conversation with Jiang FengMian and Jiang Cheng. And holy fuck does it make her seem even more unredeemable than she already was. She comes in right as Jiang FengMian is scolding Jiang Cheng for not upholding the family values, refusing to recognize Wei WuXianâs accomplishment and saying he was bound to bring ruin to the Jiang Sect sooner or later. When Jiang FengMian asks her why she was there, after all itâs common knowledge that she doesnât care about Wei WuXianâs injuries, she intentionally aggravates him by literally grabbing and shoving Jiang Cheng into her husbandâs face, forcefully reminding him that Jiang Cheng was their âtrue sonâ. She accuses him of disliking Jiang Cheng because she was the mother, then accuses him of actually being Wei WuXianâs real father. And with that, we instantly know what he whole fucking problem is.Â
Itâs jealousy. She had been jealous of Jiang FengMianâs feelings for CangSe Sanren this whole time, and took it out on an innocent child who lost his family at a young age. All that unreasonable, misguided resentment, all directed towards a dead womanâs son. A dead woman her husband was most likely in love with, who hadnât even returned those feelings.Â
Personally, when this scene showed up, I decided, âYup, I fucking hate this bitch.â But I will say this, this scene was also such a good character building scene. It amplified the drama, always necessary in ancient Chinese stories, and was a catalyst that led to a very important plot point: Wei WuXianâs promise to Jiang Cheng.Â
Time to talk about how Madam Yu actually functions as a plot-driving character!Â
As I just said, this scene drove Wei WuXian to make the promise of becoming Jiang Chengâs right-hand man in the future, and it was a promise he had fully intended to keep. Madam Yu, and to a lesser extent also Jiang FengMian, were the driving force behind that decision. By now, we as the audience fully understand the core factors of Wei WuXian and Jiang Chengâs insecurities. Wei WuXian feels like he doesnât have a proper place in the Jiang Family because of Madam Yu, and Jiang Cheng feels like heâs never doing enough to please either of his parents. The abuse from Madam Yu and the neglect from Jiang FengMian weighs down on Jiang Chengâs shoulders constantly as he feels unloved by both parents, meanwhile Wei WuXian believes he is what ruined the love for the family just by being alive.Â
To me, Madam Yu is the strongest catalyst character in the story because she drives the storyâs two central characters, Wei WuXian and Jiang Cheng, in a way that both explains and exploits their insecurities and the decisions they make because of those problems. She is legitimately the primary reason why both boys are so messed up (though Jiang FengMian played no small part in that too), and we feel the effects of her actions on the two of them long after she's dead. Which brings us to the big topic of her death.Â
Now, let's be real, Madam Yu was still kind of a fridged woman like Wen Qing and Jiang YanLi. However, in my opinion she was at the very least a fridged woman done right. The reason for this is that both Wen Qing and Jiang YanLi were overall much weaker characters (especially in the novel) and essentially both died for no real reason except to cause more tragedy and pain for Wei WuXian to push him to his death. They both only died to set up Wei Ying's death, which is why I'm furious about that, but that's for another post (let me know if y'all want it lol). But Madam Yu's death? Her death was far, far more significant and there's a huge reason why a lot of fans, regardless of which adaptation they follow, agree that Madam Yu's last scenes were her best ones.Â
Now, onto the analysis of the massacre of Lotus Pier. It started with Wang LingJiaoâs pompous ass waltzing in and demanding that they chop off Wei WuXianâs hand and submit to the Wen Sect, even after Madam Yu violently lashed out at Wei WuXian with ZiDian to the point where he shouldnât have been able to move for days (the animation doesn't agree though cuz they wanted a cool fight scene lmao). This scene is very interesting for Madam Yuâs character, because you can interpret it in two ways; one that makes Madam Yu seem to hold SOME sympathy for Wei WuXian as a member of the Jiang Sect, or another that shows her tactical insight as well as her pride for her Sect and status, or even both. Later in the story, Wen Qing reveals that Madam Yu hadnât actually hurt Wei WuXian as badly as she claimed, and we can interpret this as either her not truly wanting to cause lasting damage to Wei WuXian, or that she knew there would be a fight regardless and made sure Wei WuXian would be able to fight the Wens off along with her and Jiang Cheng. Madam Yu has previously made it clear that she believes in Wei WuXianâs skills in combat and cultivation, shown in her berating comparison of him and Jiang Cheng, so it would make sense for her to keep one of the Jiang Sectâs strongest fighters on his feet while putting on a show for Wang LingJiao in case it was enough to satisfy the Wens into leaving them alone for the time being (while probably finally having an excuse to act violently against the poor kid she hates maybe). Personally, I do think it is more of the latter, but I also donât think Madam Yu is one to turn to physical abuse too much. Yes, she slapped Jiang Cheng in the shoulder in the novel introduction and shoves him around when sheâs angry, but aside from that we have no reason to believe she actively and frequently engages in physical abuse against them as they never seem to be scared of her in that way, and Jiang Cheng was particularly horrified and scared when she did hit Wei WuXian in that scene with Wang LingJiao, so I lean towards believing it was a rare occurrence (not that emotional abuse really any better, but you know.)Â
Quick bonus point, I love how in CQL she just nods at JinZhu and YinZhu and they immediately know what to do, and also when she trusted them to hold Wen ZhuLiu off while she escaped with the boys. It really shows how close the three of them are despite being mistress and servants, having grown up and trained together. JinZhu and YinZhu are criminally under-utilised and I will be forever bitter about it.
In the scene that follows, the animation has my whole heart once again. Mostly because it was the best fight scene donât @ me, but also because it showed her fighting side by side with Jiang Cheng and Wei WuXian. Madam Yu took the frontline first, taking out the large group headed towards them before letting the boys rush forward ahead of her to fight, only taking over the main fight when Wen ZhuLiu entered the fray. During their battle, Wen ZhuLiu used the body of a dead Wen to block her attack, blinding her with blood as she paused in shock at the unexpected action. Realizing she could not win the unfair fight, Madam Yu quickly switched tactics and escaped, aiming to make sure that the Jiang heir survived. I really liked seeing her fight alongside them, even though it doesnât totally make sense with Wei WuXianâs injury, because it does give a better look into them being able to function as combat partners. It is implied that Madam Yu trained them more than Jiang FengMian did and that'sthe headcanon I go for myself, so I enjoyed that scene a lot. Then comes her biggest defining moment, her final scene with Jiang Cheng and Wei WuXian. Please note: This is 100% the animation and why anime-Madam Yu is best Madam Yu.
Madam Yu shoves Wei WuXian into a boat, screaming that this was all his fault. She knows itâs over, that thereâs no chance of winning this fight, so she gives ZiDian to Jiang Cheng, and tells him, in the softest voice weâve ever heard from her, to leave. When Jiang Cheng starts begging her to escape with them, she gives into her emotions and pulls her son in for a hug, telling him heâs a good child. Jiang Cheng is shocked, likely never having received her affection like this before. Here, Madam Yu has no reason to hide her feelings anymore, because she knows she's going to die, and she knows she cannot bear to flee Lotus Pier as she is the Jiang Matriarch and has her pride. She spares Wei WuXian, but I don't think it's because she wants him to live. I think she spared him to ensure her hot-headed son will have someone to protect him, because she knows that Jiang Cheng will absolutely try to save her, and because she fully believes that Wei WuXian absolutely will fulfill that promise. She knows Wei WuXian is loyal to the Sect, and more importantly, to Jiang Cheng. She knows that while Wei WuXian is more reckless and impulsive, Jiang Cheng is the one who reacts more emotionally. Just like herself. When demanding that Wei WuXian give his life to protect Jiang Cheng, sheâs not simply giving him an order as a master to a servant. She was telling him, in her own way, that she cannot protect Jiang Cheng as she believed she was doing any longer, and entrusts that task to Wei WuXian, because heâs the only person who can do so. In this very moment, she knows sheâs walking to her death, and she knows she would never see her children again, and doesnât know if her husband would even return for her, because she genuinely believes sheâs unloved by him. So, she gives her family to Wei WuXian in the worst way possible, and we see her biggest flaw of her unyielding pride also being her greatest strength as she fights to protect her family and home one last time.
This scene, this GODDAMN scene, is Madam Yuâs most defining moment as a catalyst character, because now her character has served its full purpose. Itâs the moment both we as the audience, AND Wei WuXian and Jiang Cheng, see that she is more than an abusive, jealous mother. She is more than just prideful and fierce. Sheâs also a ârealâ person with emotions and problems she never managed to work out, but did truly love her son, her family, her sect. But she was also never going to be redeemed, because she refused to face her own demons even to the very end. She was such a prideful and stubborn person, that she died upright, holding on to her sword in a refusal to kneel to the Wens. And for Jiang Cheng, to see the proudest, most powerful person he knew, dead and disrespected by Wen Chao and Wang LingJiao, well, can you blame him for snapping?Â
Madam Yuâs presence in the story was primarily to set up the conflict between Jiang Cheng and Wei WuXian. Her problems, her abuse, caused them to develop insecurities that became their worst flaws, with Jiang Cheng always feeling inferior because she always told him he was inferior, and with Wei WuXianâs guilt and tendency to blame himself for anything that goes wrong around him. Jiang FengMianâs lousy parenting and neglect (y'all want an analysis on him too cuz he's honestly a really interesting take on a bad parent imo), which is also a form of emotional abuse by the way, shouldnât be ignored, but Madam Yu is simply the better and more impactful character. We see how her starting arguments with Jiang FengMian push the boys into heartfelt talks, leading to the promise between them before Lotus Pier fell. We see how she set up Wei WuXianâs feeling of owing an unpayable debt to the Jiang Sect, and to her for sparing his life to protect her son. But she also wasnât simply a plot-device-abusive character type. She is fully shown to have her own motivations, her own problems unique to her, and her own strengths and flaws in ways that a lot of other minor characters donât get, especially in the animation. Hell, not even Jiang YanLi, a character supposedly being more significant than her, got such an in-depth character. Madam Yu isnât a developed character by any means, but she has a lot of depth, and the impact she left on both the audience and the canon characters is felt long after sheâs dead. When Jiang Cheng and Wei WuXian break things off, Jiang Cheng talks about how Wei WuXian is the perfect disciple of the Jiang Sect, and that leads to Wei WuXian leaving so he âdoesnât cause them any more troubleâ. Wei WuXian cannot abandon the ideals of the man who took him in all those years ago, but he also felt that he had given his all to Jiang Cheng already in his golden core, and thus he felt that he should respect Madam Yuâs presumed wishes and stop causing more problems for them. Even far, far later on, Wei WuXian still feels guilt towards her and Jiang FengMianâs death and wishes to pay respects, but doesnât argue with Jiang Cheng when heâs told that he doesnât deserve even that. And honestly, we also just know whoâs fault that unreasonable guilt really is.Â
I say Madam Yu is the best minor character, and a fridged character done right, because she genuinely felt like an actual person, an actual abusive mother but also a human being with her own complex feelings while also being an overall bad person who (arguably) needed to be out of the protagonist's life. To get a little personal for a moment, Madam Yu strongly reminds me of my own mother, who is quite emotionally abusive, though not as extreme, which might have made me feel more realism from her than most other minor characters and definitely made me think that MXTX has some personal experiences herself. The animation is the best at this, because her tones and expressions change drastically here and there when itâs needed, plus her voice actress does such an outstanding job conveying her emotions instead of just shouting everything like the novel and CQL presents it, but she maintains her pride, the most defining trait, both her greatest strength and greatest flaw, until she was no longer needed in the story. A lot of stories with such a character tend to give them an emotional breakdown before they end their arc, but Madam Yu had none of that (...except...in CQL...I guess...yeah thatâs why I donât like that one). Her death was to push the story and the motivations of two male characters forward, and I agree that itâs not fantastic given that most other women died within the same story for male plot progress, but her death actually felt, to me at least, like it also had a genuine purpose to her own character as well as the plot. Wen Qingâs death was heartbreaking to me because I love her and she is my QUEEN, but narratively pointless especially since Wen Ning came back and in the end she was only really there to perform the golden core transfer. Jiang YanLiâs death was just...utterly unnecessary man pain. I have made no secret of hating how her death was handled.Â
With Madam Yu, I personally really liked that she essentially was an irredeemable person that would never change herself out of pride so she almost needed to die, but was still human nonetheless. And going by MDZSâs heavy theme of grey morality, she fits the theme perfectly. And thatâs why, while Madam Yu may be an abusive and terrible person, sheâs easily one of the strongest characters in the whole story, right up there with Wei WuXian, Jiang Cheng, and Jin GuangYao in my opinion.Â
I hope yâall enjoyed this monster of a post of me rambling about the angry purple lady.

pingxie thoughts (and prayers) pt. 1
iâm trying to make a series of my random thoughts on ultimate note pingxie (i might go to other versions too but who knows when). idk if this fandom really needs my two cents but here yall go either way. at least i get my screams out of my chest. (apologizing if my english breaks bc of my feels, this really isnât my first language)Â
The Jacket SceneÂ
This is about the scene where Xiaoge, Pangzi and Panzi discover Wu Laosiâs body with Wu Xieâs coat covering it and what happens before, during and after that scene. I had some thoughts on how this one moment connects the things that happened in the previous episodes, and what Pingxie seems like after this very small but significant ordeal. (placing under cut bc this is long. with some pics!)
The thing is, with this whole drama, that weâve rarely seen the worried side of Xiaoge before this. We have seen him coming in and sweeping Wu Xie off of his feet and rescuing him from whatever situation the boy has put himself into but we rarely see his worry. And throughout Ultimate Note, we finally see a lot of that. (this post by @jockvillagersonlyâ already talks about the snake egg scene and all the worry so I guess I donât have to get into detail here.) But, ever since the beginning of this, ever since Xiaoge once again sweeps Wu Xie right off of his feet (figuratively) in Golmud Sanatorium, he shows a lot of concern towards Wu Xie. Though he gets it out in varying ways but. Letâs not blame him for that, shall we?Â
First of all, he doesnât want to rope Wu Xie into coming with them on this journey; he very blatantly wishes Wu Xie to turn back and leave. It sounds a bit rude and Wu Xie reads very wrongly into it. Itâs just that Xiaoge doesnât want Wu Xie to get hurt on yet another journey. He just wants Wu Xie to be safe and where does that lead him? Into worrying.
So, what gives us this jacket scene in the end is that even if Xiaoge holds very tightly onto his feelings and doesnât talk about them or, god forbid, show them (especially to Wu Xie if theyâre related to him), other ppl are still very much aware (e.g. Hei Xiazi, A-Ning and Pangzi). Example: When A-Ning talks with Wu Xie about him joining this expedition, she states that she doesnât care about Wu Xieâs life but Xiaoge does (which,,, Wu Xie looks flabbergasted. Poor soul). She sees what Wu Xie, unfortunately and infuriatingly, does not. He understands Xiaogeâs silent and somehow reluctant care.Â
All of this then means that when Wu Xieâs team goes missing as they explore the shipwreck (or they just canât contact ppl with their radios anymore bc of reasons), Xiaoge is absolutely losing his shit. He is already doing this before that (cue the scene with Hei Xiazi a lot earlier, in the pic above) but this is his last straw. He flees the camp to go look for Wu Xie, all his deals be damned. He might look cool and composed while doing this but his eyes are very telling. He is losing his fucking mind and no normal guy stands in his way (Wu Laosi being the one in his way is somehow so ironic in the light of whatâs about to happen).
Then Pangzi and Panzi walk in, taking Xiaoge with them. And I find it so very amazing that Pangzi is able to see right through Xiaoge. But this knowledge is comfortable, caring. Pangzi might speak about Xiaogeâs worry in a teasing way but itâs how he goes at these things. And with Pangzi, Xiaoge can show his worry (even if heâs being emo about it and sucks it in like the cool guy he is bc⌠idk my dudes, maybe for the same reason he doesnât even look at Wu Xie when he gives him that compass in the desert, boy has problems ok). Heâs safe with Pangzi who doesnât force Xiaoge into admitting his feelings but shows him how ridiculous heâs being bc of course they can worry about Wu Xie. Theyâre all worried about Wu Xie.
Then, after all the wandering in Devilâs City, they finally get to the shipwreck and thereâs a camp but! Surprise! Itâs full of corpses. Killed by corpse bugs. And then we see Wu Laosi (A-Ningâs right-hand man? I think?) wearing Wu Xieâs jacket. Xiaoge spots the jacket like a blood hound, drawn to it in an instant. And we as viewers know that itâs not Wu Xie laying there, that heâs long gone and having a not-so-fun adventure through the Devilâs City with A-Ning, but our guys do not. Xiaoge does not. We can see how his face freezes as he notices the body and then goes to look at it. He doesnât even touch it, he just stares. Pangzi has to pull the jacket off of the body bc Xiaoge is too shocked to move.
And maybe he does know that itâs not Wu Xie (like he lets Pangzi think later bc heâs Cool and Collected) bc heâs just so accustomed to that body but. For a second he really does believe. And if we think about him earlier, when he was saving Wu Xie from the desert, his first words for Wu Xie who regains his consciousness were, âSorry, I was late.â Bc he wasnât there early enough to prevent Wu Xie from collapsing and being in pain. He wasnât there early enough to keep Wu Xie from harm. And at this moment here, Xiaoge comes to remember that perhaps, comes to think about how he might actually be late one day. He thinks about it so intensely and it makes him so frustrated that he just furiously slices that stray corpse bug into half with his sword (even if it has no point when Pangzi and Panzi already have their knives out and ready to go). Heâs just so mad about the thought of someone or something harming Wu Xie and him not being there to prevent it that Xiaoge, our Poker Face, has a temper tantrum. What a day this has been for him. Might consider other emotions after a couple more years, itâs becoming exhausting and I feel him on that.Â
But then this just leads us to the overwhelming protectiveness we see during their journey in the jungle before they get to the Heavenly Queen Motherâs Palace (and Xiaoge goes to the jade meteorite and forgets everything but letâs stay in this happy-ish place still). We see him attending to every tiny movement of Wu Xie. Heâs there to steady Wu Xie when he stumbles, heâs there to keep branches off of his face, helps him to cut down damn vines. Thereâs that egg removal scene with overwhelming fear. Thereâs the snake repelling mud and them sleeping in that tent. Thereâs Xiaoge catching Wu Xie from mid air more than once. He just... pours over, in a sense. Suddenly, heâs come to face the mortality of this boy he travels with and heâs painfully aware that he is the reason why Wu Xie is there in the first place. Wu Xie even states it himself when heâs yelling at Pangzi about lying to him when he said he was going to Beijing. Wu Xie says heâs the only one whoâs in Devilâs City and on this journey just for his own accord (and at this moment, Xiaoge knows it also means heâs the reason bc Wu Xie has promised him things).Â
Itâs a horrible thing to know for Xiaoge. And I think this jacket scene just brings out all of that, reminds Xiaoge of why he didnât want Wu Xie here in the first place but had to accept his involvement still. Reminds him of what he can still try to prevent as he was given this chance. Wu Xie really becomes his first priority here, and it shows up even starker in the way he puts Wu Xieâs survival over his own mission while working with Chen Wenjin. He outright refuses to do things before Wu Xie is safe. He somehow accepts, silently determined as he is, that thereâs no other option for him anymore. Heâs stuck with Wu Xie as strongly as Wu Xie has stated that heâs stuck with him. And sometimes I just wonder how many times Xiaoge mustâve seen nightmares of Wu Xie dying, especially after the scare this one simple jacket gave him. How many times he blamed himself for those. How many more times he wanted to apologize for being late (bc maybe one day he would have to tell that to Wu Xieâs corpse). Â

idk if i should ask through here??? but for the prompts you were taking: i thought 10 with merthur?? and 13 with reggie/luke ;))) love your work <3<3<3
thank you for sending them in!! i did peterpatter first, and iâll do the merthur one in a separate post.Â
i think this is the first time i ever used present tense in a fic, since this is all about enhancing my writing horizon. was interesting. also idk what this is. it developed a life of its own.
13. âDonât be sorry⌠it was kind of cute, actually.âÂ
______
Hereâs the thing. Luke Patterson isnât the tidiest person, exactly. His room tends to be messy, his things tend to be scattered all around the studio, and he can never find the shirt heâs looking for. Sometimes he wakes up in a Nirvana mood and all he can find are Green Day shirts. Sometimes he puts his journal down somewhere, because he has to grab a guitar before the riff in his head leaves him again. And then he forgets where he put it and searches for hours until Reggie, Alex, or Bobby hand it to him as if it was right there all along.Â
Itâs just that he gets so into his music that he forgets things sometimes. He also forgets time a lot and then he doesnât have any left to clean or bring organise his stuff. It drives his Mom rather mad, but Luke canât help it. He tries, really, but two days later his room always seems to be back to its original state of chaos.Â
So imagine his surprise when he gets home after practice one night and finds his room all tidy and clean with small notes pinned to random objects, commenting things like âDo you really need this, Luke?â or just âHahaha.â or âOmg, you kept this.â in what he identifies as Reggieâs handwriting. Heâs read enough of his country songs to know. Smiling, he picks up a stuffed bear Reggie once won for him at a fair they went to together when Alex and Bobby were both busy with their own families. Reggie pinned a note to it, saying âNice to see you keeping the tokens of my affection.âÂ
He hugs the bear close to his chest and keeps looking around his room for more of Reggieâs inane commentary. He finds dozens of notes, and decides to keep them where they are. They make something flutter beneath his ribcage, and fill him with warmth and a sense of comfort he only knows from playing his music. Heâs not sure how he feels about Reggie coming to his house when heâs not there and rummaging through his things, but at the same time he knows there arenât any secrets heâs keeping from him anyway, and Reggie knew about his latest fight with his mother. It was pretty bad, so Luke spent the night at the studio where his friend found him in the morning. So, Reggie knew he struggles with keeping his room clean again, causing him to fight with Emily and feel miserable about it, and he decided to help, apparently.Â
âIâm sorry for not asking first,â Reggie says suddenly, and Luke spins around to find him standing in the doorway, smiling a little sheepishly. âYour mom let me in,â he answers Lukeâs unasked question.Â
âDonât be sorry,â Luke says softly, gesturing around his room. âThis⌠it was kind of cute, actually.âÂ
Reggie leans against the doorframe and crosses his arms in front of his chest as he raises a suggestive eyebrow and smiles so brightly, Luke feels himself physically react to the sight.Â
âAw, you think Iâm cute, do you?âÂ
Luke snorts.Â
âYeah, man. The cutest.â Heâs not lying. Reggie is⌠the best friend in the world, but heâs also beautiful, and funny, and Luke loves him so much, really.Â
Oh. Well, okay. Thatâs a new thought.Â
Luke hums curiously as he turns away from Reggie to hide the blush rising to his cheeks. He spots another note at the foot of his bed. âRemember when we used to pretend your bed is a stage and performed really bad versions of Queen songs on your first guitar?âÂ
Luke does remember. And he feels warm all over again. Oh. So, Reggie? Itâs Reggie for him? The decision is quickly made. Luke has always been an impulsive person, and if he wants something, he goes for it. Apparently he wants Reggie now.Â
Heâs about to turn around when he feels Reggie wrap his arms around his waist from behind and rest his chin on Lukeâs shoulder.Â
âYou donât have to hide your pretty blush, you know?â Reggie says, voice lower than usual. Luke feels it right down to his bones.Â
âAw, you think Iâm pretty, do you?â Luke says, matching Reggieâs tone from before and grinning as he turns his head. Itâs an awkward angle, but theyâre so close, their noses almost touching, and Luke suddenly has trouble breathing.Â
âYeah, man. The prettiest,â Reggie replies, imitating Luke from before, but sounding no less sincere.Â
Luke hums again.Â
âThis is new. I have to admit I did not see this one coming,â he says softly, curiously glancing at Reggieâs lips. âYou and I?âÂ
Reggie leans a little closer, and his lips are ghosting over Lukeâs, almost touching, but not quite yet.Â
âNeither did I. But I had an epiphany while cleaning your room and finding all these memories of us,â Reggie says, his voice barely more than a whisper. He chuckles. âWell, there goes my heterosexuality.âÂ
And then he kisses Luke, and Luke drops the bear he was still holding to turn in his arms and kiss him back, arms coming around his neck to keep him close.Â
âThatâs overrated anyway,â he comments in between kisses, just before they fall onto Lukeâs bed together. The very same one they used to play rockstars on when they were 11.Â
Later that night, Luke finds more notes as he happily sings ABBA songs to himself. âHello pretty boy. Whatâs up?â is written on a small yellow note on the corner of his mirror. On his CD copy of The Other Side of the Mirror by Stevie Nicks, Reggie left a note saying âI hope I get to kiss you one day just for owning this. Not sure if I mean that platonically⌠We should probably talk. I hope you donât find this before I get a chance to talk to you. If you do⌠well. Surprise? Reggie is having a sexuality crisis and itâs all your fault.âÂ
And when he picks out a fresh shirt from his closet, a note falls out informing him that Lukeâs lack of sleeves on most of his shirts played a significant role in Reggieâs crisis about his sexuality.Â
âYou dork,â he mumbles to himself, putting on a Fleetwood Mac shirt for good measure and singing Super Trouper as he dances down the stairs to help his mother with dinner.Â
âArenât you chipper today?â Emily says with a smile when she spots him. âI think Reggie was humming Dancing Queen when he left earlier. May I ask what put you two into such a delightful mood?âÂ
Luke beams at her, shrugging as he does a pirouette.Â
âI think weâre in love, Mom,â he tells her honestly. He figures there is no need to lie to her, and heâs feeling way too happy to keep it to himself. Emily only looks a little surprised.Â
âWith each other?â she asks.Â
Luke nods. âYeah.âÂ
Emily smiles and reaches out to squeeze Lukeâs arm.Â
âWell, thatâs lovely. Heâs a fine young man, Iâve always thought so.âÂ
Luke hugs her, just because he can and he doesnât know why they fight so much when they also frequently have moments like this, when he feels so blessed to have her.Â
The next day, when Luke walks into the studio and finds his friends already gathered and ready with their instruments, he feels all warm and fluttery again as soon as he spots Reggie, so he walks right over to him and kisses him right on the mouth.Â
Bobby hoots, Alex claps, and Reggie is eager to kiss back.Â
âSorry,â Luke murmurs against his lips.Â
âLuke?â Reggie says as he pulls back. âIf you ever apologise for kissing me again, Iâm gonna write a hundred country songs about you, and I will get famous with them, and youâll forever be known as that weird queer country dudeâs boyfriend.âÂ
Luke laughs and raises his hands in surrender.Â
âWhat a horrible fate. Alright, no apologies from now on.âÂ
He kisses Reggie again, and this time he doesnât say sorry. Heâs not actually sorry, anyway.Â

Fanfic Tag Game
Thanks for the tag @lokibus! <3 <3 <3
How many works do you have on Ao3?
54. I've written quite a bit more, but I just can't be bothered to carry over most of the fics from my LJ days. Also, once upon a time I had a super insecure streak and I went on an orphaning spree, so... ÂŻ\_(ă)_/ÂŻ
Whatâs your total Ao3 word count?
Apparently 457,241! Kinda same as above.
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Though I Try Not To (The Witcher)
I'm so weirdly pleased about this. I fell into Witcher fandom totally by accident. I don't usually do fixit fics, but I couldn't help myself. This is, I think, the only fic to date where I've started posting as a WIP and actually followed through and finished.
Where All Roads Lead (MCU)
If there is one plot device I'm just eternally a sucker for, it's time travel shenanigans. This was one of the two time travely fics I wrote for Stucky fandom.
For The Space of a Heartbeat (The Witcher)
I'm honestly really surprised by this? This was totally just a self indulgent spur of the moment kinda thing, and it's only a couple thousand words.
Even in the Dark I Know You (The Witcher)
Okay, I lied. There were two WIPs I actually followed through and finished. This started as a random oneshot for a whump week thing, and then the prompt for the next day fit so well with a follow up chapter that this just turned into a whole story. I really enjoy subverting tropes and with witcher biology I see a lot of sensory overload kinds of fics, so I decided to play with the idea in reverse.
Even if it Hurts (Even if it Makes Me Bleed) (The Witcher)
So, most of the time when I settle into a fandom, there's one fic idea that I feel like I cannot leave without writing. For Witcher fandom, this was that fic. I have a lot of complicated thoughts about soulmates as a romantic concept, even more so when you're involving characters like Geralt, for whom fate is so often a double edged sword. This story was very much an excuse to dig into what soulmates mean for personal agency under the guise of a narrative. XD
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Admittedly, I do this with embarrassing inconsistency. Basically, what happens is: * Something gets a good response. * I respond to a few comments and then find myself overwhelmed (mentally, not as in there are a truly overwhelming number of comments). * I step away for a bit. * A month later I realize I still haven't replied. Cue paralyzing indecision about whether it's too late to reply. * Rinse and repeat.
I do want to! And I'm working on it. I've gotten a little better about it, but my apologies to anyone who I haven't responded to. Please know I'm not intentionally ignoring you. ;_;
Whatâs the fic youâve written with the happiest ending?
Oh hmm. I had a reputation for a really long time as primarily an angst writer, but pretty much all my stories have a happy ending for some given quantity of happy. I guess it kind of depends on how one qualifies that.
Noonwraiths and Other Woodland Forest Creatures maybe. It's got a got a pretty fluffy ending.
Whatâs the fic youâve written with the angstiest ending?
It's a tossup.
I, The Paradox, which is my other time travel fic from my Stucky fandom days, with a paradox (shocking) that lands Steve with two versions of Bucky. For plot purposes even! It's not a particularly smutty story. It ends sort of ambiguously. There's a sequel outlined that was meant to resolve said ambiguity, but alas, it's still sitting in my WIP folder.
Truth in the Periphery. It's a psychological horror story I wrote for an event. I think it's the only fanfic I've ever written that was really intended as a hurt/no comfort kind of story.
Do you write crossovers?
I haven't, but not because I specifically don't. I've just never had an idea that felt compelling enough to follow through on.
have you ever received hate on a fic?
Maaaaybe once or twice a long, long, long time ago, back when FFN was still the best option for posting outside of LiveJournal. I don't think it was even about the writing. I think it was someone was mad that my much younger self tried to sneak smut onto FFN.
Do you write smut? if so, what kind?
I have such a love/hate relationship with smut in my own work. I used to write it a lot because I felt like I had to. It was until I came to terms with being more or less ace irl that it occurred to me why I didn't enjoy writing it. Weirdly, I like reading it just fine.
The thing is, while I don't really care for the physical aspect of it, I like the emotional touchpoints of it, so I do still write smut sometimes. It just tends to be a little cursory in terms of action details and heavy on character dynamics.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No. But I used to RP a lot, and it's always been a lot of fun, so I wouldn't be opposed to the idea!
Whatâs your all-time favourite ship?
Oh shoot. From a romantic standpoint that varies so much depending on what fandom I'm currently feeling enthusiastic about. It's pretty much always a specific character that draws me to a fandom, so I think the most consistent ship I have is favorite character/unconditional love and support. XD
Whatâs a wip that you want to finish but donât think you ever will?
The sequel to I, The Paradox I mentioned earlier.
What are your writing strengths?
If there's one thing I feel like I have a consistently good handle on, it's emotional impact. I put a lot of thought into why people make the choices they do and how they relate to each other, and I would like to think I'm reasonably adept at leading readers to the emotional response I'm going for.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Descriptions. I'm just forever in awe of people who can just write settings/action naturally. It's a constant effort for me, and it's the thing I always feel like I fall short on. I can write navel gazing in my sleep, but an action scene? Pfftttt.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Very situational. Kind of like in movies and television. I don't have any kind of always x or y opinion on it though.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Inuyasha. It was back when I didn't have a computer of my own and would write at the library, so the only record of it was the site I used to draft and post to that is now defunct. No one is happier about this than I am. đ
Whatâs your favourite fic youâve written?
I think I'm genuinely pretty proud of everything I've written in the last couple of years, but if I had to pick right now, it'd be It Doesn't Break But it Bends. It's a time loop fic. Someone left "Recommended but you will sob." as their bookmark note for it and I think that might be my crowning achievement in fandom.

That GM prequel fic - part 3: Florence's POV
Part 1 (Madeleine, <1k, G)
Part 2 (Scarlet, 1k, G)
Ships: Floreleine & ScarletMay
Hiding the entire fic under the readmore this time for Part 1+2 spoiler reasons! This one's also rated G (or T if we're going for swear words and alcohol consumption I guess), a little over 1k words.
There will be at least 1 more part of this, and then I might post a revised and possibly longer version to ao3.
Bc idk where to put this in the fic itself yet, quick setting overview: they're not sitting around a table but instead Florence and Madeleine are sitting on a small couch, Scarlet is next to Madeleine on a wobbly kitchen chair and Anna May is sitting opposite them on a barstool at the kitchen aisle.
That night, the librarians plus Scarlet (and minus Baby, who is sleeping in the next room under a security camera that both Madeleine and Scarlet insist on checking every other minute) are sitting in the kitchen together for dinner and a drink.
Or five drinks in Anna May's case, as she downs the first one in one go and hasn't let go of the Whiskey bottle since. Florence can't blame her, really - if Madeleine had run off with some guy, no matter how early in their relationship, only to return a year later with tears and a baby... She has no idea what she'd be doing right now.
Madeleine and Scarlet are talking about the child right now, sharing child-caring advice - Florence is fairly certain that Madeleine has her knowledge from books and only from books, but she seems to have picked out sound advice from all that she has read at least - and Florence has to smile fondly at how Madeleine is glowing at the prospect of having a child in the library.
Scarlet is careful in her replies, not wanting to commit to anything, her eyes shifting back to Anna May whenever she doesn't think that the others are looking.
'She's afraid she'll kick her out after all,' Florence thinks with a quiet sigh. 'Can't blame her, Anna knows how to hold a grudge, and with how she is drinking right now... It isn't her friendliest appearance'.
Still, she thinks that they will work it out. They better. It's been a while since she has seen Anna May have an emotional reaction to just about anything, and it can't be healthy to keep it all locked inside, pushing all chances of happiness away.
Madeleine must have heard her sigh, and she leans back against Florence's side. Florence squeezes her arm, content to have her by her side, glad that they, at least, don't have to worry about their relationship status. Being with Madeleine always relaxes her, makes her feel like everything is alright in the world.
Madeleine presses a kiss to her chin and, after checking that both Scarlet and Anna May are looking down at their glasses, nods in the direction of the door. 'Should we give those two some privacy?'
Florence tilts her head for a moment to consider, then shakes her head, nodding at Anna May, and Madeleine winces a little. Yes, Anna is barely keeping it together now, who knows what she may say or rather shout if they left them alone... Anna May should get a chance to cool down, before she ends up saying something she doesn't mean and would regret.
As if on cue, Anna May throws back the rest of the Whiskey in her glass in one gulp and loudly brings it down on the kitchen counter as if to dispel the silence that has fallen.
"Fuck."
Madeleine looks like she wants to remind her about cursing with children in the house again, but Florence squeezes her arm to stop her. They don't need to irritate Anna May even more right now.
"I'm sorry," Scarlet says immediately. Florence doesn't think that she is apologizing for anything in particular, just for the situation in general, for present and past.
Anna May gets up and turns around, putting her glass in the sink and turning on the water, but then just leaning against it with her hands holding onto the metal edge and her knuckles turning white.
Florence is trying to decide whether to step in or not when Scarlet speaks up again in a shaky voice. "I can - I can leave, I don't have to -" she gets up, clearly ready to bolt, and Anna May flinches, but she doesn't turn back around.
"No-one's" leaving, Florence says at the same time as Madeleine says "No, don't be silly!" They share a smile, and then Madeleine squeezes her hand before getting up and walking over to Madeleine. "Come on, let me show you everything. You can sleep in the room with Samantha, me and Florence aren't really using it much anyway."
Florence watches them go with a soft smile. Madeleine always knows what to do, what to say. She's so grateful to have her.
Once the other two have left, Florence goes up to Anna May and slams the still-running tap down, making her jump.
"Stop wasting water and get a hold of yourself, Anna!"
Anna May whirls around, clearly ready to fight, but Florence just throws her a deadpan look and she deflates.
"Fuck, I don't know what to do." She slurs her words a little, but not as much as Florence would have expected after that much alcohol.
"Right now? You are going to drink some water so you will not be terribly hungover tomorrow. And tomorrow, you have got to think about whether you want that woman and her kid to stick around or not."
Anna May flinches a little, but when Florence sighs and pours her a glass of water, she takes it without protest and gulps most of it down in one go.
"I dun' want her to leave," she then murmurs, staring down at the glass in her hands. "She left me once, I don't want her to leave me again."
Florence sighs and pulls her into a hug. "Bloody hell, Anna, why did you never say anything? You must have been fucking heartbroken, and all you told us was that you gave dating one last chance."
Anna May half-laughs, half-sobs and clings to Florence like a lifeline. "Don't know. Didn't want to be weak. Didn't want it to be real."
"Oh, Anna," Florence sighs and squeezes her tightly. Then she takes a step back and fixes her with a hard look. "You've got to tell her that, you know that, Anna May? She is going to run away just to give you space while you are not talking to her because you're afraid she might run anyway."
Anna May sighs and grimaces a little, but nods. "I - tomorrow. I'll tell her tomorrow, before I can chicken out." she sighs. "I mean, it's not like I know whether she'd want to - whether she still-" she sighs. "She only left me because he didn't want to share, but maybe by now she's just over me."
Florence shrugs. "I can't look in her head, Anna, but from the way she looks at you... I think you guys will figure it out."
Anna May nods uncertainty, then frowns again. "And you'd be fine with it, if she's staying here... Indefinitely? I mean, she has a - kid -" she adds with a somewhat perplexed expression on her face, making Florence laugh. She's half of a mind to say 'congrats, you're a step-mom!' but stops herself at the last second. There will be time for that kind of joke when the peace between Anna May and that Scarlet isn't quite so fragile anymore. "Exactly," she instead replies. "So you know Madeleine will be mad at you forever if you let them get away."
Anna May snorts. "She did seem quite... taken by the kid."
Florence nods, frowning a little herself now. "She's always wanted kids, she just accepted that it isn't sensible in our line of work, and that I am not interested in them anyway. Seeing her with Samantha, now I'm wondering..."
"You did nothing wrong," Anna May reassures her. "And fuck, can you imagine having two kids around? It will be bad enough, trying to protect the one from everybody."
Florence sighs and nods. "I suppose. But I'm sure we'll manage. ...are you going to be alright now, or do I have to hide the Whiskey?"
"I'm not a drunk," Anna May replies a little offended, and Florence grins.
"I know you're not, but you sure made a great impression of one earlier!"
Anna May groans, and then she turns back to the counter to refill her waterglass. "Fuck, I'll be so dead tomorrow."
"Sleep in, then. Me 'n Madeleine will make sure Scarlet won't take off before you're awake and had your talk with her."
Anna May nods sharply. Florence smiles and squeezes her arm. "Well, get some sleep. I'll check on Scarlet and Madeleine."
~
Anna May nods again, and Florence sees her lean back against the counter with a deep sigh while she is leaving the kitchen. She really hopes that Anna May will take her advice to heart. Some heartbreak can't be avoided- but the one between her and Scarlet doesn't seem quite so inevitable.

So. Here goes nothing... (1/?)
(Major spoilers for the comic, but since it wonât update anymore (besides PERHAPS some random comic strips/excerpts without context every now and then, but donât count on it), I guess it doesnât matter.)
If you read my answer to the ask posted earlier, you probably know what this post is about. Iâll make a list of every important point I wanted to tackle in the comic, in multiple sections. Be prepared for the long post that awaits you below the cut.
Summary of what was left of Chapter 2
Following their first appearance at the beginning of the chapter, Lolph and Dundgren try to question Blendin, who is staying at a hospital and is still under intense care. They discuss what exactly happened to Blendin in the first place: he was assigned what was supposed to be a routine mission to solve a minor time anomaly in the 21st century, but his time machine exploded when he tried to operate it and he was gravely injured. Dundgren mentions that any normal time device should hardly cause this much damage when malfunctioning, suggesting that Blendinâs level of incompetence is so incredibly high, it somehow managed to make something that shouldnât be able to explode blow up in his face. On the other hand, Lolph starts to wonder if, exactly because it should be impossible, the accident may have had a reason other than just Blendinâs incompetence. Unfortunately, the accident had consequences so grave on Blendinâs physical health, it seemingly also took a toll on his sanity and questioning him only leaves them with esoteric sentences of dubious credibility.
Blendin: âThis is very nice of you⌠to visit me. There isnât much time left. I was starting to feel alone, before everything disappears.â Blendin: âTime Baby will succeed⌠He will free us from this time.â
July 13, 2012 again: back in the gift shop of the Mystery Shack, Wendy and Soos have captured Bill and tied him up to a chair. Wendy starts interrogating him, asking him who or what he is-- throwing in her multiple guesses: the Shapeshifter she defeated with Dipper in the bunker, a paper clone... She doesnât suspect demon possession or a switch-because-of-the-carpet scenario, however. Bill just keeps trying to break free with little success, without answering; and soon, Stan interrupts them when he enters the gift shop as well, followed by the dozen of tourists he took during his latest tour. Wendy and Soos manage to evade Stanâs obvious questions by pretending they were making a new attraction.
Back in Mabelâs Dreamscape, Mabel encourages Dipper to have some fun with Billâs powers, but he is scared of messing up because of just how powerful he is; having seen Billâs powers both in the Mindscape/Dreamscape and in Weirdmageddon when he witnessed the alternate timelines, Dipper knows just how far those powers can go and he isnât sure he can control them. Still, after some teasing Mabel starts a snowball fight with the surrounding ice cream, and gradually the twins have more and more fun starting with the ice cream, then with the tricks Dipper starts to use. When they take a break, Mabel points out that nothing bad happened, and Dipper grows a bit more confident that he can use Billâs powers in a way that isnât dangerous.
Dipper: âI guess itâs easy to do exactly what you want when it literally happens in your mind... Huh.â
Dipper notices itâs almost noon, and Mabel remembers that she was supposed to meet William at Greasyâs Diner for lunch. Mabel is unseasy upon thinking of talking to him again after what happened the day before, and Dipper confirms by showing Williamâs current whereabouts through a peephole that William seems about as worried as she is. Mabel takes a deep breath, makes sure that she will be able to see Dipper whenever she needs (during the night for sure, perhaps earlier if she asks for it). Still, just before Dipper wakes her up... She has a favor to ask him.
Mabel: âNow that you can do lots of magic stuff and all... Could you do something for me?â
Back in the gift shop, the tourists have left and Bill was untied due to Stanâs confusion over the situation. However, he is forced to stay inside and is stuck sitting by Wendyâs side behind the cashier desk. When Mabel goes through the gift shop to go to the Diner, everyone notices that she made a new sweater -- one with a pine tree symbol on it, no less. Bill is enraged but canât stop her from leaving.
William has his first face reveal. He is a blonde 13-year-old, and is already waiting worriedly at Greasyâs Diner when Mabel arrives. He immediately apologizes for what happened on the day before.
William: âAbout yesterday, I... Iâm sorry I said your brother was a bad influence. That was uncalled for.â
Mabel: âYes. Yes it was.â
William is genuinely apologetic, but soon it is revealed that the reason why he thought Dipper and the Mystery Shack were a bad influence was because he doesnât believe at all in the supernatural. Even if Mabel told him about her adventures, he assumed they were just stories she made up while playing in the Mystery Shackâs museum and never believed them to be true. Mabel tries to convince him by showing him some episodes of Dipperâs âGuide to the Unexplainedâ -- a series of videos he used to make and post online at the beginning of their summer break upon arriving in Gravity Falls, but stopped making altogether after Summerween. Sadly, the episodes made up until then did not revolve around exceptionally weird anomalies, and arenât enough to convince William. The only thing William admits to being strange is the fact that every inhabitant of Gravity Falls is âout of their minds.â
Exasperated by Williamâs absurdly high levels of skepticism, Mabel eventually dares him to go on a forest expedition with her, Candy and Grenda on the next day, just so they can show him pretty much anything in the forest that is out of the ordinary. William strongly refuses and tries to dissuade her to go into the forest at all; he has been personally forbidden by his mother from going anywhere near the forest, and he has also read on the local news that there is currently a predator of unknown origin or species on the loose, which has been notably attacking sheep from the nearby farm. Mabel teases him about the fact that he believes that this creature is real, and suggests that it might be a werewolf for example; but William doesnât take her seriously, especially because the creature is supposed to fly.
And... This is the part where my script starts getting wonky. Iâve been trying to fill the holes, but sadly itâs proven to be quite difficult, especially now that I know I wonât be drawing it in comic form anyway. Still, the main plot should be precise enough! The holes are mainly just âthere should be some filler and/or foreshadowing to whatâs coming hereâ, with little more than just prompts for what could be happening.
Back in the Mystery Shackâs gift shop, Wendy tries to sneakily question Bill, but when Stan asks them where Mabel went and Bill tells him she skipped her restocking duty so she could spend time with William at the Diner, Stan asks him to get her back. Bill happily takes this opportunity to slip out of the Mystery Shack, and have an excuse to bother Mabel at the same time.
Eventually, William is obligated to accept Mabelâs terms and intends on coming so he can at least make sure that the girls wonât put themselves in danger upon visiting the forest on their own.
Bill arrives at the Diner. William, thinking he is meeting Dipper again, tries to make amends for the things he said the previous day and says that he earnestly thinks they can start again on the right foot; Bill sadistically mocks him instead, all the while pretending to be Dipper, just so he can ruin Mabelâs hopes of reconciling William and Dipper. Bill finishes Mabel by forcing her to leave, saying that Stan expects her to work at the gift shop like she was supposed to since the beginning.
Mabel gone, William and Bill start to have a tense conversation; well, tense on Williamâs part, while Bill is mostly just having a blast driving William mad. The old fanfic that was the first âdraftâ version of the story has this chapter, which gathers most of the jokes I intended to keep, and at least some of the plot points. Iâll put a warning for awkward English, though. Oh and also, apparently in the old version it was July 3rd and not July 13th, so in the comic the âtomorrow is July 4th so the forest trip canât happen anywayâ excuse wouldnât work.
About the Quetzalcoatlus thing: here, have some fun dinosaur size comparisons & history following my latest research on what the pterodactyl from S1E18: Land Before Swine.
William: âAnd how would you even know all that?â
Bill: âBecause I ate Leonardo da Vinci.â
William: â. . .â
William: â⌠It must have been some VERY cryptic way for you to say that it was one of those conspiracy things mentioned in the old book supposedly written by a genius that you keep reading passionately every day. Right?â
Bill: âOh, so your brain CAN work sometimes!â
Bill gets bit by a soothquito. His bite marks spell âFHOASE CORECULLYâ
Upon leaving the Diner, they both see someone being kidnapped by a member of the Blindeye Society. William insists they immediately go warn the police, but Blubs and Durland prove to be ineffective as ever. Bill slips in one or two facts about the secret society, but William dismisses them completely as other random insane things Bill just happens to say all the time for trolling purposes.
Mabel is back in the Mystery Shack and starts her restocking duty, but her mind is clearly elsewhere. She starts mumbling to herself, but is interrupted by the decapitated head of Larry King who just happened to be in the vents nearby. Mabel isnât surprised at all to see he survived, and when Larry King starts "interviewingâ her about the issues she was mumbling about, she complies. Some time later, while Soos is cleaning up the floor, he overhears Mabel complaining about Bill being a jerk on purpose and making Dipper seem like a terrible person, and ends up hearing pretty much the whole story that way, without Mabel knowing. Soos proceeds to tell Wendy what he heard, helping them putting two and two together-- all the while understanding why Mabel didnât warn them, and why they should stay silent as well. They decide not to tell Mabel they know her secret; but when Bill comes back later, just as Wendyâs shift was about to end, she has just one thing to tell him:
Wendy: âTomorrow 6PM. My place.â
Night time; Bill is annoyed, but not very surprised by the fact that Soos is sleeping with him for the night, in the room on the ground floor where Dipper had relocated. Bill is at least glad he no longer has to pretend to be Dipper around Wendy and him.
Soos proceeds to ask Bill what his intentions were; not just in the present times now that the switch occurred, but also before it.
Soos: âSo you really are that triangle guy from two weeks ago?â
Soos: âNow that I'm thinking about it⌠A lot of things happened two weeks ago. That's when it began to get all wrong. Well, it was already wrong before that, but⌠That's really when you came that everything started to get all weird and⌠bad.â
Soos: âIt all started because of that Summerween night. What did you want with us?â
Soos: âWhy did you tell Dipper that Gideon summoned you?â
Bill: âIt was just a job. Jobs are boring. Thereâs no fun in it if nobodyâs trying to stop you.â
Bill: âOh, and you wanna know the best part? If youâd taken Shooting Star along with you instead of going just the two of you, perhaps you wouldâve had an opportunity to beat me.â
Soos: What did you do with Gideon two weeks ago? Dipper and I knew it wasnât a coincidence that those government guys showed up just the next day.Â
Bill: âSomething that neither Pine Tree nor I want anybody to find out, I bet. Also if I were to tell you, you'd either faint or spend the next fourteen hours trying to explain it all to Red. Funny, but not worth it.â
Soos is disturbed by Billâs attitude, because of course he tries to both troll and traumatize at once, and given how Soos was already terrified of Bill because of the Summerween night (âIâve had nightmares for weeks!â from an earlier comic page), it doesnât help. Soos tries to ask Bill about the deal he made with Gideon -- more specifically, he asks what Bill wanted in return for stealing the code from Stanâs mind. However, Bill doesnât answer and instead opens the bedroom door to reveal that Mabel was trying to eavesdrop.
Mabel was mostly there to make sure that everything was alright, and deduces that Bill hadn't slept at all during the first night and that he intends to never sleep at all, even after she tells him that humans need sleep to survive. Thankfully she came prepared with a âsurprise gift from Candy and Grendaâ, and sprays Bill with Fairy Dust.
Mabel: âThereâs probably enough in that bag to knock out a gremloblin in an instant, so I think heâs good for the night. :pâ
Once Bill is asleep, Dipper takes this chance to come to his Dreamscape and talk to him one-on-one; and, he is not happy at how Bill treated Mabel so far. Still, after a certain point the conversation gets to a more pressing topic.
Bill: âYou saw it happen, didnât you?â
Bill: âWeirdmageddon. You saw it, right?â
Dipper: â. . .â
Bill: âOh-ho, even better! Thereâs a timeline in which YOU make it happen, isnât there?â
Dipper: âThatâs not gonna happen.â
Bill: âLook kid, take it from me. The more you try to actively prevent a specific outcome, the more likely you usually make it happen.â
Dipper: âYou canât make something happen if you specifically stop everything that can lead to it from happening first.â
Dipper: âEven if it includes lying to Mabel⌠ I saw it. If she learns thereâs a way to get me a physical form, sheâll try anything to make it happen and disregard the consequences. I bet she trusts me to keep things under control, but everything else? Thereâs just... Thereâs too many variables. We canât let her know anything about the portal. Or Weirdmageddon.â
Bill: âWell, that doesnât change anything from my original plan anyway.â
Bill: âSo youâre just gonna stay in the Nightmare Realm forever, is that it?â
Dipper: âThatâs not much of a plan so far, but thatâs still an effective way to save the world.â
Bill: âDonât mess with me. You DO know that if you donât make your way to another dimension eventually, youâre just going to die, right?â
Dipper: â... W-what are you talking about?â
Bill: âWait. You REALLY didnât figure that out yet?â
Bill: âThe Nightmare Realm is unstable. Itâs just gonna collapse one of these days, destroy everything in it. Could be in a billion years. Could be tomorrow.â
After leaving Billâs Dreamscape, Dipper decides to visit Wendyâs and tell her everything. He confirms her doubts, tells her the whole story with the carpet... And he tells her about Weirdmageddon and what Bill just told him about the Nightmare Realm.
Dipper: âI mean, itâs better this way for everyone, and of course Iâm not gonna go with Billâs original plan to destroy the laws of physics or whatever, but⌠I-I just donât wanna die, you know?â
Wendy: âDonât worry. Weâll find a way.â

No time to die (angst one shot, Diavolo x F!MC)
Based on Billie Eilish song âNo time to dieâ
(So I deleted the first version I posted by accident and like I dumbass I hadnât saved it anywhere, so I tried for like 2 hours to find it somehow, but to no use. I was really sad because it took me hours to write it and I really liked how it turned out, but I donât want this story to go to waste, because I really liked it and I have ideas for a continuation with Diavoloâs POV. So sorry if you already read it, but this version will be a bit different since Iâm starting from scratch and I have no reference to how I wrote the first version. I hope you all enjoy anyway!)
Part 2 is up!
-
You shouldâve known something wasnât right. You shouldâve known that this was too good to be true. You knew of his title and what he was, a demon, but you still decided to ignore it.
You shouldâve known something was up when Diavolo started spending a lot more time with you than any other exchange student. He would always asked questions about you and your life in the human world. You shouldâve known there was more to it than politness when Diavolo suggested for you to stay at his castle one night, when a friendly tea afternoon turned out to end much later than you anticipated. It wasnât the first time it happened, but usually Barbatos would walk you home when it was too dangerous for you to walk back home alone.
You definitely shouldâve known when you had your first time together. Diavolo had kissed you like you were an animated object. It felt animalistic, almost robotic, he wasnât making love to you, thatâs for sure. Right after he was done, he left pretending that he had paperwork to do and he did the same thing every other time after that.
You thought it was because of his nature, demons do not know how to love, at least thatâs what you were telling yourself.
Diavolo would bring you everywhere and acted like a perfect gentleman in public. He would show you the most beautiful places in the Devildom and would present you to the most influential people in the Devildom even calling you his princess in front of everyone. That was how he made you feel in public, like a princess. But once you were both being closed doors he would act like he didnât care about you. Sure, he would ask you questions about the human world from time to time, but you never felt like he truly wanted to get to know you past the basic information about yourself.
Everyone tried to warn you in one way or another. Solomon once told you to be careful around demons, that they cannot be trusted: âWe humans, have to look out for each other.â As for the angels, Simeon simply told you that: âDemons arenât made to love humans, theyâre made to hate them.â You thought you would be the one to change that fact, how foolish of you.
You remembered the way the brothers would look at each other every time you said you were spending the day or night at Diavoloâs castle. They wanted to warned you, but they knew they couldnât or else they would all be in danger. So they would simply told you to be careful. You thought they were simply jealous, but now you know better.
When you finally learned the truth, you couldnât help but think about all the warnings and red flags you got during the last few months.
Itâs not like Diavolo wanted to torture you or make you his concubine, not it wasnât anything like that.
You learned of Diavoloâs true intentions by accident. You were waiting for him in his office because you knew this would be the first place he would go to once he got home. His desk was a mess, so you decided to clean it a bit before his return. Most of the papers scattered across his desk were student reports, but one letter in particular caught your attention. It was handwritten and started with: âDear fatherâ. Your curiosity got the better of you and you started to read the letter.
âDear father,
Everything is going as planned. The exchange program is going wonderfully. The last time I wrote to you, I mentioned one of the exchange student, MC. She is a human like Solomon but she does not have the same magical power as him. I think she is in love with me, but I am only acting like I am in love with her too so she can trust me.
She is the key of my plan to rule over the three realms. With the information I am getting from her about the human world, it will be easier for me to take it over, especially with her on my side. I also needed her to trust me so she can tell the future exchange students of how wonderful her year was here with us, demons. I will put my plan into action once I get the trust of the Celestial Realm as well. She will be of great use for this as well, since the angels will see how happy she is here and how protected she is.
Do not worry father, as I will continue your legacy and make you proud of me. Nothing will stop me and as for now, everything is going as I planned. The next step for me will be to marry her, like you told me once, marriage and love are two different things. I need to think of what is best for our kind.
Your son,
Diavolo.â
A single tear fell onto the letter before you heard Diavoloâs footsteps approaching his office doors. You quickly put the letter back to his original place on his desk and sat on his office chair like nothing happened.
There were only three weeks left to the exchange program when you found the letter, so you acted like nothing was wrong for the remaining of the exchange program. You faked smiles and made it seemed like you were still madly in love with Diavolo. Two can play that game. You spent so little time alone with him that he didnât notice anything.
-
You were finally on your last day of the student exchange program.
You told Diavolo earlier that morning that you had found the letter to his father on his desk and that you knew of his true intentions now. You thought he would lock you in his castle to prevent you from leaving the Devildom or maybe even kill you, but he did nothing of the sort. To your surprise, he had let you go without a fight. After all, you were of no use to him if you didnât trust him.
-
You decided to sing one last song before you left the Devildom forever. Not for Diavolo, but for yourself.
You took your place on the stage. You were now in front of all of your friends, the brothers, your classmates, the other exchange students, Barbatos and Diavolo.
-
You were wearing an elegant black dress that Asmodeus bought you a couple months ago. He spent all afternoon doing your hair and makeup. You barely talked, which was very unusual for the both of you, but Asmo knew what you just went through and what this day and this song in particular meant to you so he didnât talk, focusing on his task instead.
You had told the brothers about Diavoloâs plan that same morning. They all knew something was wrong in some way, but they never couldâve guessed what was Diavoloâs true plan. They all apologized to you for not being there to protect you.
-
The music started to play as you waited for you queue to start singing.
I should've known
I'd leave alone
You shouldâve known you would leave the Devildom alone. You shouldâve known that this was just all a dream that you would have to wake up from one day to face the truth. That you were nothing more than a pawn in Diavoloâs game of chess and that the only outcome possible was for you to leave the Devildom alone with your broken heart.
We were a pair
But I saw you there
Too much to bear
You were my life
But life is far away from fair
You dedicated yourself to a man who didnât care for you, who didnât love you. It was truly painful to accept the truth. He may have hurt you once, but you promised yourself this would be the last time he would ever hurt you.
Was I stupid to love you?
Was I reckless to help?
Was it obvious to everybody else
That I'd fallen for a lie?
You couldnât help but think of how stupid youâd been. So naive to think that the prince of hell himself would actually fall in love with you. At first you were mad at yourself but also at the brothers. Why did they let you live in this fantasy filled with lies? Especially Lucifer, you thought you guys were close after what you had done to help his family get closer.
But then you remembered that Lucifer was bound to Diavolo and even if he knew what was Diavoloâs plan all along, he couldnât tell you or you, his brothers and himself would all be in danger.
-
So, while you were now singing in front of your formal classmates, the brothers, Solomon, Simeon, Luke, Barbatos and Diavolo particularly, you never felt so hurt, but so powerful.
This was your swan song, the last time most of them would ever saw you again, would ever heard your voice again. You wish it wouldâve gone completely differently, but you werenât safe anymore in the Devildom. No one could protect you here, not the brothers or even the angels.
You could tell some of them were crying, knowing full well they let you down, but this was your own decision for once. You werenât blinded by lies and by the glamorous life Diavolo offered you outside of his castle, anymore.
You were never on my side
Fool me once, fool me twice
Are you death or paradise?
Diavolo may had fooled you once, but you knew the truth now and you would never be fooled again. You would prove to him that you were more than a fragile human he could play with and use to his own advantage.
Now you'll never see me cry
There's just no time to die
You wanted to cry so badly, but you didnât want to give Diavolo the satisfaction of seeing what he had done to you. So, you swallowed your tears and put on a strong face.
I let it burn
You're no longer my concern
Faces from my past return
Another lesson yet to learn
âYouâre no longer my concernâ this was a hard one for you, because at this exact moment, you realized that you didnât care for Diavolo anymore. Sure, he had broken your heart and hurt you pride, but you were stronger than that now, stronger than ever before. You looked at him while singing these words and you could tell that he was uncomfortable by the look on his face and the way he was squirming in his seat.
Now you'll never see me cry
There's just no time to die
No time to die
No time to die
You were almost at the end of the song when you realized you werenât looking at Diavolo anymore. You were now looking at your true friends, the brothers, Solomon, Simeon and Luke. Your experience in the Devildom might not have ended the way you expected but you wanted to leave it with a good memory.
Fool me once, fool me twice
Are you death or paradise?
Now you'll never see me cry
There's just no time to die
The song had ended and now Diavolo was nothing more than the past. At the last second before you left the stage to find your true friends, you turned to Diavolo once last time and said: "I wouldâve told you to burn in hell but fortunately, thatâs already where you are.â You immediately turned around again, without letting him enough time to speak or to react to what you just said.
After that, everyone returned to the House of Lamentation, everyone expect for Diavolo who went back to his castle alone.
You all said your goodbyes while Barbatos was standing awkwardly in a corner of the room.
After a while, Barbatos told all of you that it was now time to leave.
The first one to leave were the angels. You thanked them for what they did for you during the exchange program and made them swear they would come see you in the human world. You could tell that Barbatos was growing impatient, but you didnât care.
You finally let the angels go when Barbatos opened a portal leading to the Celestial Realm and with one last goodbye, the two angels stepped into it.
Next was you and Solomon. Barbatos opened another portal, this one leading to the human world. You took Solomonâs hand before turning your head towards the brothers. They were now all crying, which also made you cried. You told them one last time that you loved them all, before turning back towards Solomon and said: âLetâs go home.â as you both walked into the portal.
-
Youâve been back to the human world for about a month now. It wasnât easy at first adjusting to your old life. It would be a lie to say you didnât think about him once in a while, but it didnât hurt as much anymore. The main reason for that was that you had the help of Solomon who youâd spent a lot of time with.
You were also grateful for the brothers who all took turns to come see you in the human world. You got closer to them and it made you think about what wouldâve happened if you didnât fell for Diavolo. Would you have fallen for one of the brothers instead?
Oh well, you canât rewrite history and you might still be a foolish human, but you were now a foolish human surrounded by people who truly loved you.
~
Thank you for reading! Likes and reblogs are always appreciated!
There will be a part 2 to this with Diavoloâs perspective after MCâs gone. It will probably be dark, I just donât know how dark I want it to be yet.

TAGATHA! REWORK! PART 3!
Let's GOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
We're ignoring Sophie for a little while, she's going to be watching the person she's bossed around and put down get the person Sophie wanted the most.
I digress, Tedros is actively trying more and more to not only be nice to Agatha, but also make her laugh and show that more hidden away Agatha that can laugh, smile, and be happy.
He starts by slipping a flower into the little crook of her ear and bidding her good morning, which turns a lot of heads.
Agatha tries to ignore all this, but does start allowing a chuckle and grin whenever he goofs off or decides to show off, one time actually making her roll her eyes and walk away.
Tedros, however, does everything he can to keep her a little giggly and to gain some more friendship points, helping her in Beautification, giving her tips in Surviving Fairytales, and sitting next to her in lunch.
She does her half, too, helping wherever she can in swird combat, giving him tips on magic, and making sure he doesn't find poisonous mushrooms; she grew up near the the woods and under the care of a witch, she'd know which foods and plants are poisonous.
Their conversations always start off awkward, but are very normal and pretty nice compared to what conversations with Sophie were like; it's good to vent, but it's just better when someone's listening.
They do see each other and talk more about their homes and study together at night, which is great for Tedros, who's started slipping up in his scores after what happened with Sophie and the Trial. Agatha's been doing better because she's been working at her own scores ever since Sophie and Tedros started "dating."
These meetings end in Tedros walking Agatha to her dorm, ever the gentleman, before walking back to his own dorm with a smile on his face; it feels good to have a girl be his friend without worrying about a kiss.
One day in a practice duel with Chaddick, the girls watch and wave their handkerchiefs and cry out for a champion.
Chaddick picks Beatrix; she wanted Tedros to be her champion, but she'll take what she can get.
Tedros decides to flare it up by unsheathing and tossing his sword into the air, letting it flip and spin before catching it and pointing to Agatha.
"Lady Agatha of the Woods Beyond, will you have me as your champion?"
It's over the top, stupid, and show-offy, but, given how much closer they've gotten, Agatha snickers and says yes.
Chaddick, however, ain't having it, which leads to the two arguing as they fight; he's mad that Tedros dated Sophie and almost got himself killed because of it, and now is even more mad because, yes Agatha's not that bad, but for all he knows she could just be saying things fed to her by Sophie, given how Agatha helped her cheat.
Tedros tells him not to worry(the non-paraphrased version is, "Don't be such a sniveling prat, I'm fine!") because he knows now that there was no mistake with the Readers being in what they thought were the wrong schools.
Even though it's a close duel, one full of insults snd arguing between the two friends, Tedros ends up losing because of these words from Chaddick:
"If you really love this one, you wouldn't be fighting so hard! Stop acting like your mothe, if you hate her so much!"
It shakes everyone, even Chaddick and Tedros.
I should note here that Chaddick is not being a Chad Dick, he's just trying to look out for his friend after the whole fiasco with Sophie, where he was confused, almost killed, and tricked into loving her because he thought it was true love.
Tedros gets up, because Chaddick had knocked him down, and puts his sword back in its sheath before walking away, silent as Chaddick tries to apologize.
No one really follows him, Beatrix tries, but Reena holds her back, shaking her head.
Agatha follows him after a little bit, ignoring Chaddick so she can chew him out later, and finds Tedros training in the boy's groom room, climbing the hair ropes.
"Are you okay?"
"Define 'okay.'"
(Agatha puts her hands inher pockets and tenses her shoulders.) "People ...say things to get to you, and they don't mean it most of the time."
(Tedros is silent before he slides down and sits on a bench, Agatha sitting next to him.) "The mates have been acting weird since the trial. They think I'm acting like... like..." (Tedros clenches his fists on his knees and looks away from Agatha.) "Sorry. Do you think you can leave me alone for a little bit?"
Agatha does so and runs into Chaddick in the halls near the classrooms.
He asks where his friend is and Agatha crosses her arms as she asks why he was so mad earlier, as Tedros can love whoever he wants and it shouldn't bother anyone.
The two sit down somewhere, back to back because it avoids eye contact and is less confrontational, and the conversation continues without much yelling.
Chaddick is worried about his friend. He's not the sharpest sword in the armory, so it's easy to screw with his head, as proven by Sophie, and Chaddick wants to make sure he isn't being tricked or lied to out of selfishness. It shot be worth mentioning that anything told to him in Camelot was up front and at face value. It's very easy to lie to Tedros before he figures out something's not right.
Agatha brings up how Tedros is like his mother and asks why he'd hate her; Gavaldon is a Reader village and there are no books talking about AFTER Arthur married Guinevere.
Chaddick's still surprised she doesn't know and spills the beans with some sugar coating, because it's a rough story regardless of how you splice it.
He tells her how Gwen left Arthur, who literally drowned with his sorrows(in my eyes, either his liver gave out or he died of alcohol poisoning), and left Tedros all alone. He may talk a big game, but he's just a kid who wants to be loved by someone for real, not just for a crown or throne or just to say, "Hey, look! The King of Camelot is married to ME!"
Agatha is, rightfully, gut punched by this and is silent as Chaddick admits that he might have been a little rough on him for the last week.
She reassures him he has nothing to worry about, because of the past instances where Tedros had unknowingly chosen her.
Chaddick asked why that was the case, but Agatha claims that she has no idea, though the most plausible she can think of is that they may be true loves.
After a promise from Agatha that she'd never do anything to hurt Tedros, Chaddick thanks her for hearing him out and apologizes for the times he and the others called her a witch, saying that she's not that bad for a Reader.
Tedros is the master of eavesdropping, it would seem, and rounds the corner just as Chaddick does.
The two have a small, awkward conversation, but hug it out, nonetheless.
From here, we get the events from the first book, Agatha's realization that she's always been beautiful, Sophie's attacks on the schools, that scene of Sophie calling Agatha an ugly witch when Tedros saves her, and the circus of talents.
I'll try to add a little bit more in a futrure post, but for now, Imma just leave this here for nowđ. I hope you guys enjoyed!!!!

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7 | Part 8Â | Part 9Â | Part 10Â |Â Part 11
You spend the next few days avoiding Baekhyun. The task was extremely hard since you were both in the same program. One time he had his Advanced Biochemistry class just before your Organic Chemistry class in the same room. When you saw him making his way out of the room, talking animatedly to Jongdae, you immediately went to hide behind Seulgi. Lucky for you, you were shorter than her. He wasnât able to notice you but your sudden movement caught Jongdaeâs eyes. He smirks but doesnât say a word to Baekhyun. Especially not when you were trying so hard to hide.
Jongdae, being Baekhyunâs best friend and roommate, naturally knew about Baekhyun kissing you. As much as he wanted to help Baekhyun out of his misery, he didnât want to interfere. The last time he did, it went extremely uncomfortable for him as youâve both been seen by a professor walk out of the janitorâs closet. It ended up with him being shouted on by Baekhyun and being ignored by Baekhyun the whole night when he tried to explain what happened.
Baekhyun, on the other hand, wanted to apologize again but this time for kissing you so suddenly. He honestly doesnât know what he was doing and why he did it. But how was he supposed to tell you that? âY/N, Iâm sorry I kissed you, I donât know why I did it.â Uh, no. That doesnât sound like an apology to him. So despite having seen you many times when you tried to hide from him, he only looks at you longingly and doesnât try to talk to you just yet. Maybe you werenât ready to hear it too, he guessed, considering you were going out of your way to avoid him. Not to mention you running after he kissed you. To him, it seems logical to give you some time to process and get over it before he tried to apologize.
â§ď˝Ľďž: *â§ď˝Ľďž:* *:シďžâ§*:シďžâ§ â§ď˝Ľďž: *â§ď˝Ľďž:*
Youâve been so hung up on Baekhyunâs kiss that you neglected your studying. By the time the weekend came, you rejected your friendâs invite to a party. You planned to study the whole weekend at home to catch up with all the lessons you werenât able to read about for the past few days. You were halfway through your Organic Chemistry notes when someone rings the doorbell. âDelivery for Ms. Y/N!â You hear someone shout.
Huh, you werenât expecting something to come today, you thought. You went to open the door only to be greeted by a bouquet of flowers. âIâm sorry but I think you have the wrong address,â you tell the delivery man. The âdelivery manâ lowers the bouquet to reveal his face.
âJunmyeon?â You gasped. The first thought that came to your mind was that the person in front of you wasnât Mr. Kim today, he was your friend, Junmyeon. He ditched the smart casual outfit and only wore a hoodie and some pants.
âThese are for you.â He hand you the flowers. âCan I come in? I wanted to talk to you.â
You guide him to the dining table where your laptop and notebooks were scattered.
âIâm sorry to disrupt you from studying,â Junmyeon says as he scratches the back of his neck.
You respond with a nod as you carefully placed the flowers on the table. You were still quite mad at him for leaving you high and dry the other day.
âI just wanted to say sorry for the thing that happened a few days ago...â
âOh you mean when you didnât allow me to cum?â
He smiles sheepishly, flustered at how blunt you were being.
Youâre friends with Junmyeon even before anything sexual happened between the two of you so you were open and comfortable talking about it with him than with Baekhyun. âI mean come on, Junmyeon, I understand we all have sexual urges. Itâs fine. Weâre human.â You ran your fingers through your hair. âBut personally I think itâs unfair that you didnât let me cum,â you sigh.
âIâm sorry,â he says. âI just â my mind got clouded when I saw your hickey. I wasnât in the right headspace.â
You were used to having sexual affairs, it wasnât a big deal to you. Youâve had plenty of one night stands over last year with strangers. The only thing that was weird right now was that it was Junmyeon you did it with. A friend. Your professor. So you donât know how to proceed with this. Same as how you didnât know how to act with Baekhyun because of what happened to the two of you between the sheets.
It even complicates things when you hear Junmyeon say those last words. He worded it as if he was jealous that youâve been doing this act with another man. And then you remember how Baekhyun sounds exactly the same the last time you talked and he reacted the same way. How possessive, you thought.
But if they were possessive, you were greedy. You wanted to have them that way again, despite the strain in your ârelationshipsâ. You wanted them to touch you and fuck you. Your thoughts were heading in another dangerous path so you cough and try to clear your mind.
âYeah, whatever, Junmyeon. Just donât do it again next time.â The words flew out of your mouth before you can even comprehend what you said.
Next time? His eyes widened. Will there be a next time? He sure as hell hopes so. Your mouth was amazing and he wanted to feel you again, but in your pussy next time. This excites him.
You were flustered with what you said. But if you talked right now, youâll be embarrassing yourself more so you remain quiet. You stare at your notes as if they were the most interesting things in the world. You were hyper aware that he was looking at you. You kept your mouth shut.
Then Junmyeon sighs. âWhat are you studying, princess?â You blush at the pet name.
âOrganic Chemistry.â You say. âI didnât know it was supposed to be this hard.â The sexual tension now gone as you talked about your studies. âI mean, I know some basic stuff because of the training we received for the quiz bee last year but some of these things are really hard to understand. My professor wonât even teach us properly. She makes us answer all the problem sets in the book every meeting. How can you even answer something that you havenât learned yet?â
Junmyeon looks at you softly. âI think I can help you with that. Although, Iâm not as good in Organic Chem than I am with Biology...â
Your eyes sparkled at what he said. âThatâs alright! You know I need all the help I could get. Iâm pretty sure you know that I need a dumbed down version of the lesson if I need to get the hang of this.â
So for the next few hours, Junmyeon helps you study. Being your tutor for over a year, he knows how to get his point across to you so it wasnât really hard for you to understand what he was saying.
The study session was interrupted once again when you hear jingling of keys. You see your parents standing by the door and you got up from your seat so fast to hug them. âYou came earlier! I thought you werenât supposed to come back until next week.â
âWe missed you, darling.â Your mom coos.
âNext weekâs meeting was rescheduled so we decided to go back here. How are you sweetheart?â Your father says.
âEverythingâs fine. Junmyeonâs here, heâs helping me study.â
On cue, Junmyeon shakes hands with your parents to greet them. Your parents respected Junmyeon because he tutored you for over a year and had significantly improved your grades. They knew you remained friends with him after so they werenât bothered by the fact that you were hanging out. Your mom invites him for dinner, but Junmyeon politely declines, claiming he still had some paperworks to sign and that only dropped by to help you study. He bids everyone goodbye after a few minutes of small talk with your parents and leaves.
By dinner time, you converse with your parents, asking them about their trip and what they did. In turn, they asked you how was your first week back at school and you internally cringed at the fact that the first week of your school was troublesome. You donât tell them that though. You just tell them that it went by pretty quickly.
When youâre done with the dishes, you resigned to your room to study again. You studied until the weekend was over. You were a slow learner so you needed to promptly start studying instead of cramming everything the day before a quiz or major exam comes up. It works for you though, you get to learn at your own pace.
The next thing you knew, it was Monday again and you had Bio class. Since you and Junmyeon made up, you were slightly less worried about going to class. The only problem was Baekhyun was there and you donât know if you should still avoid him or if maybe you should make up with him too...
As you enter the room, you scan for any sign of Baekhyun or Sehun. You release a breath of relief when you realized they werenât there yet. Having arrived 15 minutes earlier than the start of the class, you sit by the middle row and start plugging on your earphones. You reread the lessons you studied over the weekend.
You were interrupted when someone taps your shoulder. You remove your earphones and look up to see Sehun smirking at you. You roll your eyes at him as he sits beside you.
âIs that the proper way to greet your friend?â He says.
You immediately fake a smile and use a high pitched voice, âHi Sehun~â
Sehun frowns in disdain and shakes his head. âSo... has was your talk with B?â He moves his eyebrows up and down.
âI remember making a promise to you last week? And it goes by âI will kill you,â do you remember?â You smile at him.
âAs Iâve said, Iâd like to see you try.â
âCan I borrow your hand?â You ask him.
Sehun eyes you warily but gives his hand eventually. You smile and grab one of his fingers and start bending it backwards.
âOw!â He shouts and snatches his hands away from you. âWhat a devil!â
You roll your eyes. âStop overreacting. It wasnât that bad!â
He raises his brow in response.
âNow that thatâs all done,â you start saying, âlast week he apologized to me. For â uh, reacting weirdly when he saw me and Jongdae. He explained how Jongdae wanted to âseek me outâ when he found out what happened between me and B. And then....â
And then Baekhyun arrives and you immediately shut your mouth. Sehun notices Baekhyunâs arrival but continues to look at you, asking you through his eyes for the rest of the story. But you donât budge. Sehun figures that you wonât talk if Baekhyun was there so he sighs and pinches his nose in frustration. He hates it when people leave him hanging.
You didnât expect Sehun to turn around and ask Baekhyun what happened last week. Your eyes widened. You look at Baekhyun and he looks at you. You plead with your eyes, asking him, no, begging him to not say anything to Sehun. But if anything, Baekhyun doesnât like that Sehun still hangs around with you and that he sits beside you when it was supposed to be Baekhyunâs seat.
So out of spite, he says, âI kissed her.â at the same time that Mr. Kim comes in the classroom. Somehow, Mr. Kim heard what Baekhyun said and figured out that he was referring to you. Sehun, on the other hand, was shocked. He faced you while you buried your face in your hands.
It hasnât been an hour since youâve sat on your chair, but you feel like youâre so done for the week already.

reISH report
????????????/
I don't think 'Tess is gonna be in this one' is a big shocking reveal for reISH anymore at this point? So it's not really spoilery to read this or the last one, actually. I've drawn pictures of her doing some stuff, she was aggressively hinted at. So there, now you have that information. Tess is here now, what's she gonna do, what's her deal, ooo, let's find out together, yes, great
This is largely brain noise that will be interesting to about a half dozen of you. đ There is no secret reward snippet in this one, apologies. None of the words I made today are public facing, they're just like a toothpick architecture model of the thing.
Tess has created game breaking glitch, which I think is in keeping with the vibe of the thing, so we're going to roll with the glitch, I guess, but I'm just kinda
confused
or like mad at myself that there were just constraints I was working under even while trying to Not. This feels a lot like the middle section of reSWAN where it was like 'this doesn't line up at all with what happened in the original and yet absolutely feels like it's the same story' so I think it's going to be fine. And I'm glad to be doing a 'more authentic to the reSWAN-developed characters' version of the story anyway. It's annoying to have so much wasted time and material but I think this is just the new shape of it. reSWAN did a kind of fractal opening of SWAN in the center of it, and so far ISH is doing like a fractal funneling.
Sometimes I see the story in a shape like it's a wave on a graph.
Anyway, this is now document number 6 that I've made for this story, I think? And I usually have to have like three open at a time. I have a song chart, which is not usually an active document, thankfully. I have a timeline which is now incorrect. I have a working document that is like half timeline half actual written stuff. I have a document that contains at least two if not three of the openings I've tried for this story plus most of the other written stuff. I have one with the beginning I'll probably use, which is the one I let myself go the loosest with, that also contains significant amounts of actual narrative, and now this new timeline doc. I'm gonna need to pull all these together like fucked up little post it notes or something and see what is still actually viable.
Banshee is okay so far, though I haven't let myself go too far with her because I was rightly afraid of All The Bullshit I'm currently sorting out. There was a time I debated including Banshee, but she's going to be important and useful in this one in ways she didn't get to be in the first version, so I'm not wavering on her inclusion anymore.
Tess feels like she's about to pull a SWAN Jimmy in that she's going to have so much more to do so much earlier that half of my plan for her trajectory is plankton-didn't-think-id-get-this-far.jpg
I made the bullet points on my timeline in Google docs into stars :)
God I hope there is someone left to read and care about this by the time it actually happens.
