- Honestly, how the fuck did you get yourself in this situation? Well I’ll tell you how. You see your friends BF and GF invited you over to hang out and how could you resist saying no to the lovely couple so you immediately headed over. At first it was a bit silent due to the three of you not knowing what to do, then eventually one of you brought up playing a game. So you decided to order a random Mario game and just like that it immediately arrived. Being full of excitement, BF immediately opened it only for the three of you to find a cartridge which had some substance on it and had the word 'MARIO' in all capitals.

+ All three of you gave each other a confused look wondering what was up with the cartridge “Maybe it’s some new design?” You spoke up although it was a weird reasoning it was the only thing you can think of “yeah I guess so?” BF said in response to which GF shrugged her shoulders “Let’s just get this shit over with” she sighed as went back to sit on the couch with you joining her while BF went to set up the console and honestly that’s all you remember. The next few seconds happened so fast. First you saw BF next to you then he was gone then the same happened to GF then eventually you felt a hand roughly grabbing onto your shirt and dragging you into the TV to which you managed to find both of your friends there.

- That’s how you got dragged into this mess, meeting a range of disturbing people based on the classic super hero Mario and his friends. Luckily thanks to BF and his rapping skills he managed to get all three of you out of the situation however something worse was about to happen.

- The three of you had recently beaten the previous EXE and were on your way to go face the next one you were faced with a Mario look-alike and with everything that has happened so far the three of you knew what was going to go down. You were already facing another one however something felt different. Obviously you could tell he had insane bloodlust for all of you but you started to notice something. You couldn’t tell if it was your eyes playing with you but you could swear that whoever this was, he was staring at you. Like he was curious about you. Eventually both BF and GF had started to notice this thing being oddly creepy around you. Obviously they were both worried because they didn’t know what may or may not happen to you.

- Eventually shit hit the fan as the being then revealed his true self as MX and to say you were overwhelmed with fear was an understatement. Like sure the others had something that set off some fear in you, you didn’t know why but you felt like this is different. Maybe because for some reason he had an eye on you but you trust BF and he managed to get all three of you this far so you paid no attention to it. MX on the other hand you’ve caught his eye. The only thing that is going through his head is “I’m taking them”. He doesn’t know why but that doesn’t matter to him.

- Even though he knew you were on GF and BF’s side so obviously you were up to something but at the same time he had a feeling you didn’t have anything special going on, just someone who just so happened to get roped into their business and had to suffer the consequences of it. For some strange reason he liked that. He figured he could use you as some sort of bait for the two of them, maybe using this to get to know other things about you and keep you forever bringing despair onto the couple over being responsible for losing a friend of theirs. So with quick thinking and reflexes he managed to quickly snatch you before the rest of you could react.

+ You couldn’t help letting out a slight noise as you felt MX’S tight grip around you, holding you like a doll before bringing you close to his face. That damn sadistic smile on his face as he eyed you up and down causing shivers being sent down your spine “…well aren’t you a fascinating human” he eventually spoke up paying no attention to BF and GF who now started talking to him demanding that he let you go “Hey, leave her alone she’s not the one your fighting here!” BF stood in front like he was going to physically fight him despite the massive size compared to him and MX “Yeah you heard him let [Name] go” GF preparing herself to save you not caring about what might happen to her “[Name]…so that’s what your called” MX chuckled to himself “I’ve got to say it definitely suits someone like you” You feel yourself physically getting disgusted at the way he was talking to you as finger dragged itself from your face down to your chin forcing you to look at him. Eventually he had enough of being in BF & GF trying to give you back so he took you to a place, planning on keeping you away till he gets rid of the two himself.

- You confused as fuck as to why the hell he wanted you well besides getting rid of the couple but besides that you honestly don’t know why. Should you feel glad that you’ve been chosen? Well to him you should but honestly you didn’t feel it. But you were just glad that he wasn’t trying anything with you, not yet at least. You did try your best to escape from his grip however it felt impossible due to his death like grip on your body, you could feel it almost crushing your body. You couldn’t tell if he actually was trying to kill you or not despite showing some interest in you.

- But surprisingly he actually didn’t try to kill you but it didn’t really change the fact that you didn’t really want to be around him. But luckily for you after a while you couldn’t really tell how long due not being able to tell the time. Eventually both GF and BF managed to find you much to his dismay. He desperately wanted to murder the two of them but at last he finally managed to go along with the gang's little game of rap battle offering you as a sacrifice to him if they lose. However, just like how it went in the game and with the earlier exe’s BF manages to defeat him not only once but twice, getting you back and escaping with some help from GF only to face more exe’s but honestly they didn’t care they were just happy to have you back.

what is a punishment for a monster?

this’ll be a little soft and embarrassing, but who am i if not soft and embarrassing? i think that’s a good thing. i hope you think so, too.

“punishment for a monster” is a very personal story to me. to this day, i’m not quite sure what prompted me to write it. i can’t really pinpoint a specific event in my life that inspired the structure and the story, but i do know that it felt like a long, overdue hug. it felt it was waiting for me, too.

you ask how i came up with the concept.

if i could pick out a more concrete moment of inspiration, it would be after watching Mike Flanagan’s “Haunting of Hill House”! i won’t spoil you too much,

but there’s a character in the show who goes around talking to his dead wife on an every day basis, like she’s there but not really there. at first, we’re led to believe that it’s a classic case of a haunting, like the title implies. by the end of the story, it becomes less clear, more murky. it seemed to me like he kept holding onto the memories of her, like he’d built a moving image of his late wife with every moment of her he could remember. so, yeah: she was there, but not really there. memories are building blocks, i think.

i’ve always had an interest in death and the afterlife, what it means for the people who keep going and what it means for the people who rest. it’s not particularly religious in nature; hell, i’d consider myself far from religious. i don’t know. i guess i wanted to know why some circles close and why circles don’t. why does the pen stop moving?

my cousin died earlier during the pandemic, and it was also during the time i was put on watch. actually, i think i wanted to go before she actually went. i’m older than her, but i guess that didn’t really mean anything in the end. i’ll always be older. and anyway, it’s selfish to want to go when someone’s already on their way, isn’t it?

in my culture, when people die, sometimes they come back as dreams. they’d come back one last time to say goodbye, and that’s when you know they’re happier. i never saw my cousin in my dreams. i guess i wouldn’t call us close. i hope she visited my sister, though. she wouldn’t tell me, but i don’t pry. it’s something between them only.

you ask about the title.

i’ll be honest, i didn’t really know what to title the story. pinterest is a treasure trove of ideas. all i knew was that it had to be a quote about “punishment.”

“It’s a fitting punishment for a monster. to want something so much—to hold it in your arms—and know beyond a doubt you will never deserve it.”

that’s the full quote from a book titled “The Wrath and the Dawn” by Renee Ahdieh. i’ve never read the book before. i’m sure it’s beautiful, and i know that even by this one line. maybe i’ll read it some day.

it’s a sweet irony, i think, to title a story about healing and second chances “punishment for a monster”, to title a story about forgiveness and metamorphosis something so punitive and cruel. but i guess it works in both geto and gojo’s cases. who is the monster here? who is being punished? but i think people can change. i think love transmutes.

you ask if i was as broken as you as you read it.

well, maybe. i tend to realize things in hindsight. at the time, i was only focused on geto and gojo, where to put my commas and spaces, what words to use to talk about loss. i only realized later on that i’ve typed up most of me into it, too. but isn’t that all art? isn’t art just a giant portrait of who we are at the time? i’m rewriting “honesty corner” and i considered rewriting “punishment for a monster”, but i think i want to keep that picture of me from then. if i ever muster up the courage to read it again, it’ll be like looking through a photo album.

i would write more of how i conceptualized geto and gojo in the story, but i think we’ve connected well enough for you to know what i meant. i read every single comment and so many of you have such personal tethers to the story. i won’t get in your way; you deserve to mourn the way you want, too. and anyway, grief is never-ending. it’s a lifetime thing and it isn’t always linear, and though you carry it for life, it doesn’t define you. love defines you.

(though you could say grief is an extension of love. how’s that poem go again? grief is love in a heavy coat?)

This is very sweet of you, Anon, thank you for your kind words! I am very happy you like my art style. And I love talking about drawing a lot, so ironically I have either posts or videos for pretty much every topic you’ve mentioned, so I’ll give you some links!

Firstly, to answer your questions: yes, I do lineart first and then colour. Sometimes I draw lineart digitally, sometimes I just colour a scanned pencil sketch (I wrote about this process in this post).

I draw in (pirated) Photoshop, and I do pretty much everything in there: clean scans, draw, do lettering, etc; but I think there are a lot of better alternatives to Photoshop now.

I also have a tutorial + speedpaint of Idia’s hair specifically, I hope it’s helpful! <3 And just in case, here is the post where I talk about how I colour regular hair.

I’ve also done a couple of speedpaints, and in the last two I sprinkled some notes throughout the video to explain what I am doing at any given moment.

I haven't seen the event, sorry. You can see the things I've watched in my pinned. As well as the request not to mention to me ships that I don't like, which wasn't there before because I either forgot or didn't feel it was necessary I guess, but now it is there.

We never talk about ships that we actively dislike, but I feel like Vil and Leona are one of the closest things I have to a notp. You had no way of knowing that particular fact though, so no worries.

I don’t have a diagnosis the last time I got one I was 15 I think now I’m 21 so it’s been a while. In the meantime a lot has happened. This is my ED story.

It started when I was 12, my mom had put me on a very strict diet because I had a lot of food allergies. She put me on the diet when I was like 8 but around 11/12 I started stealing food at the supermarket like chocolate and candy and cakes because I was so hungry and I wanted everything I wasn’t allowed and all the kids my age were eating that so I wanted it too.

From 13/14 I got bullied because I gained a LOT of weight because I was basically binging everyday i got to the weight of 97kg by 14. The bullying got so bad that I started looking up ways to lose weight fast. That’s when I discovered eating disorders and what was what. And also tumblr and pro ana sites and also when pro ana was still a thing on Pinterest.

First I started throwing up after dinner. That worked obviously, after that I started skipping lunch and counting the calories I ate at breakfast. Soon after came that I was eating something different at dinner than the rest of my family. I had made a list of foods by calorie and how much it was by 100g. I didn’t know MyFitnessPal was a thing. I had also made a list if foods I wasn’t allowed to eat and a little of foods I was.

That’s where fear foods started.

I didn’t puke anymore because I had control I lost weight from 97kg to 81kg in 3 months. I was 16 when I got my first boyfriend. And we started dating aka eating food together and I slowly started to gain back weight over the 1.5 year we were dating. When we broke up I weighted nearly 100kg

That’s when I decided to work on myself again. I lost a bit of weight but not that much, I quickly gained it all back and even more.

That was all in 2020/2021. In October of 2021 I moved out of my parents home to a student room. I relapsed for a month in not eating and counting calories but the binge eating came right back.

In 2022 I had a year of using drugs so I didn’t gain that much and had less eating attacks because I was drinking and doing drugs. I tried to quit in 2023 but in the beginning I was hard but finally I quit but in stead of drugs I started eating and eating again. In may of 2023 I weighted up to 115kg. I was BIG and I didn’t see it myself.

In July 2023 i RELAPSED BAD. I lost 30kg in 4/5 months. I didn’t eat at all I was obsessed with fasting, fast lasting up to 111 hours. And every hour u can imagine. I was also obsessed with eating as clean as possible. I went from 115kg to 85kg in less than 6 months.

Over the last 9 months I actually gained back 10kg. But I’ve already lost 5kg form those 10kg.

So if I lose 5 more kg I’m back at 85kg but I really want to lose another 15kg. I just need to get a good relapse or trigger because right now I’m not doing okay.

My depression has not been worse than this. But for some reason the Ed is not raging right now. I do under eat most days now but than I have extreme hunger other days 2/3 days a week so I don’t know what to do about it.

I’m just gonna try and eat healthy again. That’s the best I can do for now I guess

I saw these little bits of spiders coming from everywhere, I tried my best to smash them but I couldn’t due restraints, it was scary, the spiders I mean, I never was a fan, I’m not sure how long it lasted, but it felt like I wanted to crawl, get out of my skin, out of my body. So when my first high came down I was back in the cage, watching how he would drug Hope,’ she paused, looked at me and said ‘no! He , Never did touch us, you know… I guess we could be thankful, this was clearly not a sexual thing,  more sadistic, he got off on our fear.’ I looked at her, this teenager who went through something horrible, and I realised that she is one intelligent human being, she profilled this man, without any experience, so she looked at me “you know, what one day, I will find Hope, and I will find the collector and I put him behind bars, make him suffer the way we did.’ I knew right then and there I needed to call Jason Gideon, maybe her healing journey starts with justice. And as the days passed and she spoke, of her time, that  everyday he’d do it over and over again, how he broke in the girls, to listen too him, too obey him, every order, he’’l train them like dogs, to fight each other, and how she did not participate in it, she’ll let the others beat her up, even Hope in the end started to beat her up, but that day she broke down, she sobbed, not because she felt the pain of her best friend turning on her, no, but because she couldn’t save her, she couldn’t stop him, from brain washing her, from ruining her, she looked me and my heart shattered, her words tore through me ‘if only I could help Hope be strong enough, he would’ve thrown her out just like me, I tried, I tried to talk to her, to make her strong, but nothing work’ she clenched her fist, ‘The collector got rid of me,because of  not listening I was bad for his business, no one wanted buy me, hell I don’t even think he advertised, but he tried to make me fear him,, and internally I did, but I didn’t show it, he would starve me for, days, I felt weak, at first but after a while, numb…  so one day he pumped me full of drugs, and I remember thinking, this is it, finally I’ll overdose and this nightmare will be over, till today I remember feeling, cold like really cold, and I wrapped myself in blankets and it didn’t help, by now I was so used to seeing the spiders, that I would talk to them, I knew they weren’t real, but to me, they we the only familiarity that I had, so I felt comfortable with, them.’ she gave a humorless laugh ‘Now, I’m probably never getting out of here doc am I?’ I smiled and told her that I understood, but really how could I? I have a feeling she deliberately skips parts, that’s too painful to tell over, or she’s afraid that she’ll scare someone, she is highly sensitive but she doesn’t show it, she hates feeling vulnerable, the moment she’ll feel scared she lash out, but at the same time she’ll care about the people around. She trusts no one, in one of our sessions she disclosed that she doesn’t even trust her parents. I just wanted to share my experience of being a fan for the first time in my life. Recently retired, I fell down the rabbit hole following H and L life. I don’t even remember how it happened. But for me, I’m French and haven’t practiced English of years, to be able to follow the whole stuff, I have had to :

Practice English every day, listening to podcasts, YouTube etc… Learn how to download IG, FB, Tumblr, Pinterest, TikTok . I don’t have x. Subscribe to Spotify to listen to all their songs, Learn how to make a playlist, Learn how to break acronyms, Try to learn how to break H and L coded pics, songs etc…. Learn how to follow blogs and posts on SM. So for those who think that being a fan is a loss of time, it it not. I have « friends » from USA, Spain, Italy, Argentina …. And so many other countries. Sharing with people you don’t know on a subject that we both like, is a blessing. You saved my retirement !!! And being a fan is a full time job.

Now there’s one question : after all that happened in the last few days, do you think that the fact that Harry turned 30, changed something in their closet, BBG or anything else. Because the 9 in the 3,6,9 of Louis ended in Sydney one day after Harry’s birthday. And I learned that there’s no coincidence with these two !!!

There is no coincidence with Harry and Louis. They are excellent at communicating with us (RBB and SBB were an incredibly creative way to share with us), and the whole 369 thing is… yeah. It’s interesting. Louis is very smart, incredibly quick and witty and intelligent, and sees everything we post and look into. The fact that the Melbourne shirt (that I’m actually wearing right now, hehe) isn’t exactly at 3… it really interests me. Why did he do like 2:58pm, 6pm, and 9pm??? Why is it not 3pm?? It’s so bizarre. If there wasn’t a story or message he wanted to communicate with us, surely it would just be 369. But… it’s deeper than that. I guess we wait and see what happens now. Also see what the next merch drop is, too. It’s… very bizarre. No coincidence, though.

I hope you don’t mind the novel but hey you wanted to share thoughts so here I am!

Rationalize is a big word but me thinks this is happening for various reasons, you tell me what you think about these options:

- Louis has this persona of “not wanting to grow up” so a younger girlfriend fits what everybody knows about him. She also seems to be tailored to the het audience who wants to “date him” and might identify with her. You know, sort of what El 1.0 was in 2012, the girl next door sort of thing but still “a fashion model” (who does no modeling, lol). But these pap pics feel precisely planned to make her look like a fan, so the message seems to be if she can date him, all fans can too! He’s a normal dude dating a normal girl who looks just like you! Buy tickets to his concerts and you might get lucky (because I can pretty much guess she’s gonna disappear real quickly and he’s going to be *available* and party boy during tour 🥲)

- There’s extra gayness in the documentary so having a son wasn’t enough. Seems unlikely but who knows? Rainbows can’t be erased from his tour shots, so I guess it’ll have to be addressed in some way.

- Also having a new romance in general helps with publicity, so for him to be talked about before the doc release. I still would have picked a higher profile, maybe another musician girl, if you really needed to sell a certain image AND benefit Louis and expand his audience, but again let’s be real I think his PR is incompetent. If I have to give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe the fan, down to earth girl angle is what they actually wanted to achieve with picking a good-looking nobody (back to point 1). It’s clearly benefitting her more than him (she went from 5K followers this morning to what, 35K now?)

- last wild though, maybe there was something with Eleanor wearing his clothes and still posting from his house that didn’t sit well with someone? So they needed to make a point? Wild but we’ve seen worse so keeping all options open.

I genuinely don’t know, but a mix options 1 and 3 seem the more rational. What do you think?

Last thought: I really hope she was ready and well informed before agreeing to this, but the whole shitshow with the Pinterest pins and Spotify playlists tells me there was a level of naivety on her end which is alarming. She was probably guided into this by a reckless agent with who knows what promises and it scares me. I don’t mind the age gap (my parents started dating when she was 18 and he was 29), but I do mind the fact that she’s likely too young to handle the hate she’s getting, regardless of the economic gains she’ll get from this it’s going to be traumatic if you don’t have the right support to handle it/maturity.

1. The forever young boy is interesting, bc Louis comes off as the loud hyperactive guy sometimes. Unfortunately I think they burned this option out when they gave him a fake kid lol

2. I think feeding such a dream to his fans is a huge underdevelopment, but it’s loyal to his fanbase origin. Still. It’s so cringe for me that a 31 yo man with a kid goes out with a young girl who pins tiktoks and random tattoos researches on Pinterest. It’s counterproductive, dumb and lazy. I don’t look at them as examples and I don’t expect them to do smart shit. we’re talking about rich people growing up as completely detouched from normal world since they were teenagers. Me and them, you and them? We’re not the same as them. I hoped he was smarter than this tho. Of course this can be useful as promo for the doc… will it tho, we know how his team and the media treat his content and projects, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they wouldn’t get any coverage not even with these pics. I don’t think that’s how you expand a fanbase or get more people curious in his work.

3. I think Eleanor simply wanted to be out for whatever reason. I think they replaced her with a new one bc E wasn’t going to engage with bg. She has never and she won’t (so far). I hope this new girl did her homework because fandom is hard to manage.

How do you make your mood boards? I don’t have an artistic bone in my body, so I don’t really draw my characters. Pfp isn’t my art, just my ocs haha.

Anyway some of it is a time/laziness issue. But like, I feel like I could do a mood board.

And I was wondering how you make them, because they’re so pretty ??? Every time I see one of your mood boards—instant dopamine. The colors and 🥺

Sorry for just popping in your ask box, but I was wondering like where do you find pictures, what program you use, stuff like that.

(Also sorry if this is a basic question. I literally have zero experience with any sort of art that’s not writing)

So, making moodboards is pretty easy actually! The secret is finding fitting pictures and a good app to make a collage out of it

Let’s start with the pictures.

I gotta (shamefully) admit that for my latest moodboards I took most of the pictures off of Pinterest (which is always my last choice, but I ran out of good pics and tbh? Everyone else does it and I’m not using it to make money or whatever so I guess I’m fine)

But usually I use sites with free to use pictures like unsplash and pexels. There all you have to do is look for and download the pictures you need. Just type in search words that fit to the character/world you aim for.

I don’t know if you need it, but here’s some things I look for when I make OC moodboards:

a face claim / prominent feature of my character (hair, eyes, whatever)

their favorite color or just one you associate with them

maybe also a texture, like wood or leaves or clouds

the character’s hobby or things they adore (yes this includes food)

everything you associate with them tbh: animals and plants, maybe even an element

symbolism, so things that are important to them or make out a part of their personality (see: a crown as symbol for an OC who’s a queen)

jewelry or clothes they would wear

I personally don’t use this one too often but many people also use fitting quotes

(For me it’s also important to stick to a color scheme and make it all fit together aesthetically, but that’s probably a weird quirk of mine and honestly everyone should do what they prefer. If you rather have it colorful or just want to go with the vibes, go for it!)

Choose as many pictures as you like. Personally I use between five and nine (nine only if I make a “classy” moodboard), but like I said, that’s up to you.

By the way, moodboards aren’t just great for characters but also for character groups, story locations and just story vibes in general (I know you know that already, I just felt like mentioning it ^^)

Okay so now you have all your pictures, but how to turn them into a moodboard?

I do all my moodboards on my phone/tablet, so I use apps to put them together. There’s plenty of collage apps you can use, or just any picture editing app with a collage option (I think most have them).

Just search for “collage”or “photo collage” in your app store and you’ll find many apps you can download for free.

Now to find a good app that fits your needs is up to you and probably requires you to try out different apps to find the one that is best for you.

Some only let you do before mentioned “classic” collages (you know those 3x3 pics that are simply next to each other, like a grid), but there’s also ones with more unique layouts you can use.

I recommend the latter because it gives you more options and makes the moodboard more interesting, but again, just a personal opinion.

I don’t know if it’s available for you, but I use an app called InCollage (it’s only for android though, I think). If you don’t want to use apps I’m sure there’s online programs for these kind of things as well.

And when you found the right pictures and your preferred collage app to use, all that’s left to do is create the moodboard!

Throw all the pictures in a collage and rearrange them however you like. Choose a layout of your liking and a fitting background. I usually go with a color/texture that matches the pictures or my OC’s color. And that’s it!

It can take quite some time to find the right pictures and arrangement (my personal record is spending three hours on a moodboard xD) but it’s really quite simple! And so much fun too!

So that was my (admittedly way too long - sorry for that) guide. I hope I was able to help and wish you lots of fun creating your own moodboards! :)

(Disclaimer: I may have to adapt some of the original questions to fit the context, as the story takes place in a medieval-esque fantasy setting, and will add some questions that I’d like my character to answer that may explain some other things about them. Also, I wasn’t comfortable enough - for some unexplained reason - to use 1st person words for the Interviewer - such as me or I - and so the Interviewer is in a generic 2nd person POV)

[The following character (and the ones that will follow in other posts like this) belongs to my Medieval Dark Fantasy WIP, The Last Wrath. The picture is just a face claim found on pinterest, as I haven’t had time to make character art for the entire cast of my book, and said picture belongs to its respectful owners.]

Let us begin!

A door opens, and 16, soon to be 17, year old Raelen Ashiren strides in. She bears a reckless smile on her face, and her steps are carefree and confident as she walks closer, grasping your hand in a firm hand shake. Her smile is a litle crooked, you notice, and just as wild as her heart. She is an unusual kid of pretty, messy long brown hair carelessly pushed away from her face in thin braids, and warm skin that bears a few small scars. Her clothes are loose and simple, designed for practicality while retaining that unmistakable burst of personality that permeates everything about her presence, a starry purple scarf giving her attire a dash of color. You can’t help but notice that while her clothes are simple and clearly worn by her frequent adventuring, they are not in a bad shape either. 

Her voice is fast and joyfully loud, but her words carry a strong sense of warmth and honesty. You can see clearly in her bright eyes every emotions that she is feeling, and like an open book they tell you a story of someone who is brave and wild, but at the same time full of joy... with a touch of something else you can’t quite place. She takes a seat in front of you, awaiting eagerly for the questions you may be inclined to ask.

1) Are you named after anyone?

Raelen: Yes, I am. Heh, I um, was named after my paternal grandmother, though her name was a bit different from mine. She was called Raellyn, and my parents adapted the name to Raelen for me, I guess it was so as to avoid confusion between the names... She was a great warrior, and the pride of House Eiriant during the years she lived - I think my Da wanted her legacy to live on somehow after I was born, even if just in her name, so ... here I am, Raelen. (Cue a laugh and little jazz hands as she finishes her answer)

2) When was the last time you cried? 

Raelen: Well, isn’t that a loaded question, (she chuckles awkwardly, bringing her hand up to fiddle with her necklace), one that I’d rather not answer...(she quietly adds, before begrudgingly sighing)... But I guess, if you really want to know, it was when my older brother Julyan was captured by a bunch of assassins... and I couldn’t do anything about it.  I’m still looking for him, and I don’t know if we’ll find him anytime soon. (her lip wobbles a bit as she looks up towards you) Can we move on to another um... topic now? 

Interviewer (you): Oh, my... um, I wasn’t expecting that, I’m so sorry... (you/the interviewer plaster their best smile on their face, trying to smooth things over) Of course, let’s move on!

Raelen: (her breathing sags a bit in relief and she smiles back at you) Thanks.

3) Do you have kids?

Raelen: What the hell? (She mutters awkardly in a laugh) Of course not, like, I’m barely not a child myself, and I don’t think I want another person to worry about in a world like mine, at least not in the foreseeable future and until I am an adult and have everything figured out. Even if I was not living on the run or there wasn’t a war between the realms about to happen, that would probably still be my answer. (She runs a hand through her hair, chuckling a bit and leaning forwards towards you, as if sharing a secret). With an adoptive brother like Azra flying around on a dragon, I’ve got my work cut out for me right now... (Suddenly she becomes pensive) I can’t imagine how Julyan handled it, like, caring for me and Azra when he was just a kid himself after our parents... you know. I don’t think I would have been able to do that so well even now... (After a pause she taps her hands on her knees, smiling once again.) Either way, circling back to your question, no, I don’t have kids nor plan to have them any time soon.

4) Do you use sarcasm?

Raelen: (smiling with a hint of laughter) Only every day! I’m trying to cut down a bit on it, that seems like a habit that is cut out to get me into more trouble than I already am, heh. But with the company I keep, I’m surprised I’m not more sarcastic or swearing like a sailor, because let me tell you, my friends can be either brilliant or the stupidest people I have ever met and there’s no in between. There are days where they are really testing my patience and I love them for it. (She laughs) I guess sarcasm runs in the family, but I try my best to be um ... politer.

5) What's the first thing you notice about people?

Raelen: Um, I guess I’m kind of good at telling when people are lying to me or have ill intentions. Everyone has a tell, though some may be harder to understand than others. I think it rather comes as a necessity when you live in Agrannor, but I’ve met some people that can prove that thought otherwise in a second (She pointedly stares at Vallerius). Also, personality wise, I am also quick to notice the little quirks and expressions, the small characterictics that tell us what they are really feeling even if their words won’t. But all of this only applies to when I am in a good or focused mood, because if I’m scared or angry the deal is totally off and I may or may not be really bad at those things I just said under those circumtances, heh.

6) What's your eye colour?

Raelen: Hazel green. At least, I think that’s what I think it is. Oh, and they only change color a small bit when I use my magic, which is something I don’t know what to make of. I’m still practicing, Vall’s teaching me more about magic, so I hope I can get those cool colorful eyes in the future, (she geeks out a bit) though I guess mine are already pretty sweet. 

7) Any special talents?

Raelen: I’m Mageborn, which means that I was born with magic in my blood, unlike a regular human. So I can cast spells and change things in the world around me with them. My family is pretty ancient, especially my Mom’s side of the family - House Ashiren, hence the surname - and we’ve been mages since before the Ancient War. (She twirls her necklace in her hands, thinking, and a small smile appears in her face) When I was a kid - after our parents disappeared and it was just me and Julyan - we didn’t have much other than our own company, so Julyan used to tell me all those tales about our ancestors, to make me feel better - powerful warriors and mages fighting to rid the kingdoms of the scourge of the Secret Court (Raelen raises her arms a bit, enthusiastically, like one would telling a heroic tale) - and I used to dream of becoming a hero, like they had been... So, as far as special talents can go, I think I have them - I can do magic, I am a mage after all, though I wish I could be better at it. I’ve been improving a lot recently, ever since Valleriusand I started practicing together!  Though I think I may never be as strong in the magical arts as Julyan is - I’ve always been more like my Da after all, Julyan’s far more like our Mom than he’d admit, and that includes being extremely talented with fire magic. Other than the magical side of my um, “talents”, I’m a ... good  swordfighter, I guess, and I’m kinda good with daggers. I can defend myself pretty well, but that’s about it. (She laughs heartedly) I can’t shoot an arrow to save my life though. Other than that, my real  passions lie on investigating forgotten things about old magic and adventuring! Does that count as a talent? I think it doesn’t, but does it count?

Interviewer (you): Uh... I don’t know, maybe?

Raelen: (smiling) Great! Because I’m a pretty good adventurer then, heh, though most people around me prefer to call me a troublemaker for some reason... (she says, a sarcastic lilt to her voice) I guess it does have a good ring to it, though adventurer sounds far more... heroic. I’m still workshopping that one, but adventurer sounds much cooler than troublemaker. 

8) Scary tales or happy endings?

Raelen: Uh, life in the continent is already one scary tale and a half on my opinion, I mean, you have wars in one hand, intrigue in another, a bunch of crazy corrupted sorcerers wanting to rewrite the word in blood and everything that twisted magic entails, such as the Shroud around the forests back home. So, if I have to choose which story I want to tell or hear around the fire, I definitely  would go with one that ends at least remotely happy. The heroic ones are my favorites, if you can’t already tell. I think that hope is a important skill to have in any situation, especially in dangerous ones, so a story that is inspiring to some extent or at the very least tells us something interesting, is definitely better than a terrifying one. But I maybe got a bit too caried away here (she chuckles)....

9) Where were you born?

Raelen: I was born in my family’s ancient estate near the Forests of Midtaren, during the Agrannorian Civil War. A while later, when I was around like maybe four or five, our parents went in a strange mission and never returned. Julyan and I had to move to the Kingdom of Kestrall  all by ourselves, where our godmother is High General and had made a promise to our father that she would protect us if the worst came to pass. The journey to get there however.. um, is something I’d rather forget and never talk about again...

10) What are your hobbies?

Raelen: Running in the forests around Kestrall, sparring, sneaking into the Dragon’s Spire with Gareth - he’s my best friend by the way (she smiles)- and seeing all the new dragons that the Riders are training, talking, annoying the guards, watching Julyan make runic weapons, stealing old books from the Royal Archives -

Interviewer (you): Woah, woah... Wait a second, that’s already a whole lot but... stealing?

Raelen: (Laughs sheepishly) Um, kinda...? Look, its not really stealing, its complicated... the Archives are open to the public, but I got banned from ever entering those halls again because I spoke against that shithead of the Captain of the Guard (She says the title mockingly), after he, um... hurt my brother (She looks clearly uncomfortable/scared at the memory, before she clasps her hands together). Anyways... so there’s that, and now I kind of had to sneak away the books and tomes that I want, though I can’t do it anymore because I’m currently living on the run across the continent. (She chuckles and lifts her eyebrows sarcastically). Listen, if it makes you feel better, Julyan and Azra told me not to sneak into the Archives... at least for the first 10 times. 

Interviewer (you): (clearly concerned, muttering to yourself) That’s so much worse though... (The Interviewer/You clear your throat)... Anyways, let us move forward...

11) Do you have any pets?

Raelen: I wouldn’t call Mystral that heh... She’s this dragon that we’ve got that like, is following us around ever since we uh - snuck her away from the Dragon Spire to escape a bunch of assassins and Azra crash landed us gloriously in the forest. (She giggles, then catches Azra staring daggers at her and answers by making a face at him). Gods, we’d better hope she didn’t hear us calling her a pet... because according to Vallerius’ translations of what she is thinking, she’s uh... (she then begins talking with a mock majestic voice) “The Tamer of Storms and the Scourge of the Earth, cower before me ye mortals” or something along those lines. (Raelen leans closer, whispering to you with a smirk)...But she does look and act like a cat, so I can’t really take her seriously and neither should you. She insists that she needs mittens for the winter, even though she generates enough heat to light up ten forges and has claws the size of a broadsword, and claims that its a disgrace that were not taking such “an important request” seriously in the middle of a war - though now that I think of it, that might just be Vallerius screwing us over with his shitty half-assed translations of Old Dragon Speech. (She narrows her eyes towards the long haired boy across the room, who pointed avoids her gaze).

12) What sports do you play/have played?

Raelen: Look, this isn’t really a sport, but I’ve sparred against some of the older Dragon Knights in a swordfigthing tourney of winter’s solstice Festival a few years ago, and did a pretty great job at it, I think. That is, before a stray spear knocked me on the helmet and left me unconscious for like, two hours. Teiva - that’s the General, our godmother - thought it was funny and seemed impressed, while Julyan nearly had a heart attack and the lecture that followed made me wish I was still asleep. But the food at the festival was good! So there’s that.

13) How tall are you?

Raelen: I don’t know exactly, but average height, maybe? Sometimes I think I am a bit taller than other kids my age, but that may be because Azra and Gareth are little ankle-biters, (she turns around as Azra prostests in the background, a smirk on her face as she sarcastically calls out). I think you’re proving my point, huh?

Interviewer (you): (The Interviewer/You smile as they start to bicker and nudge Raelen on the shoulder to catch her attention) This was one heck of a wild ride, Raelen! I hope you figure things out in your life again, and that you’ll find your brother soon. Thank you for coming to my interview!

When Life Hands You Lemons

The semester is starting to wind down these days, especially for my grad students, whose term lasts only 13 weeks. It may seem like it is long at times, but it really is fast. And like many other semesters before, we have been treated to some very newsworthy, sometimes amusing, other times anger-inspiring, events that cause us to stand up and pay attention.



Like the ongoing worries over TikTok and whether it should be banished not just in individual states and on their government-owned devices, but nationwide. Australia just announced its complete ban on government-owned devices. In the US, in a rather odd come-together moment for the Right and Left, there is momentum to ban it here as well.



It’s just that TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, has more ammo in its case. The top apps right now for lifestyle and video editing are owned by them: Lemon8 and CapCut. Take that, you pompous lawmakers. We’re not just going to roll over and die.



CapCut is a handy tool for creating the reels that users post to TikTok or elsewhere. I only learned about it this last weekend from my oldest daughter, who said that “everyone’s using it” at the digital marketing agency she calls her professional home. Me, I use Mojo, which, for all I know, could be owned by ByteDance as well. She says it is much better than Mojo. I messaged Oldest Daughter yesterday about CapCut’s owner, and I could almost hear her gulp all the way from Dallas.



And then there’s Lemon8, the new social media app that is designed to take on both Instagram and Pinterest. But in the case of Lemon8, it’s only new to the US. Launched in 2020 to little fanfare, ByteDance kept it in limited circulation until now.

And now we know why.

Lemon8 is not an exact Instagram clone, however, focusing—at least for now—on fashion, food, wellness, and travel, among other general interest topics. Like BeReal, it shuns pretense, and urges users not to stage photos like many we see on Insta. The site also encourages users to include direct links to where viewers can buy featured products.

My question now is whether a ban on TikTok would also include a ban on Lemon8 and CapCut. And even if it does, what’s to stop ByteDance from continuing to roll out new apps to dodge federal bullets? Will it boil down to banishing all Chinese-owned apps, like Pinduoduo and Shein? This could lead to war, you know.

Which makes me begin to wonder if all this pomp and circumstance, this drum-beating, is an exercise in futility. Short of erecting a massive firewall around us, like the Chinese do to keep out western media, there’s little that can be done. Worse yet, it leads to frustrations among the people, especially when we live in a place that espouses First Amendment rights and freedoms. Fire up the VPN, as I have said before, and hope you don’t get caught. I hear that Chinese citizens can be in serious trouble if they do so. The last thing we need is a similar clamp down.

The other part of me wonders how people can continue to absorb so many social media sites. I am not opposed to the development of new ones at all. It’s just that there are still only 24 hours in the day, and I have a hard enough time just attending to Meta’s Facebook and Instagram. I have work to do, you know. Heck, my LinkedIn looks like a ghost page. I guess if I were looking for a job, I’d hop on it.

All of which means we are continuing to slice the market into ever smaller pieces, and as long as it can be done profitably, new sites will continue to roll out. Stir on the controversy of Chinese ownership, and Ima gonna have things to write about for a long, long time.

Let the user beware. There may be someone in Beijing looking over your shoulder.

How long has it been since you moved out of the house you grew up in?   A little over a decade ago. 

What color shirt are you wearing?   It’s like a periwinkle color. 

The last time you ate leftovers, what was it that you were eating?   It was the last time I had pizza. 

What was the last flavor of ice cream you ate?   I had Reese’s ice cream just a bit ago. So good.

Do you regret anything you've done in the last 24 hours, and if so, what?   I don’t think so.

What is your favorite type of soup? 🍜   I don’t have one. I used to be obsessed with ramen as some of ya’ll may remember, but I don’t know everything got all weird when my health really declined and my tastes changed.

When was the last time you saw a beautiful sunset? 🌅   I have no idea. 

What is your favorite song at the moment?   I don’t have a particular current favorite. 

What are 5-10 things you love about being you? Mehhhh.

What is your favorite board that you've made on Pinterest?   I have various boards that I enjoy.

Do you get on Facebook or Instagram more?   Facebook, but I really don’t spend much time on there either. I just rarely go on Instagram, so. Not sure about this Threads thing, but to be fair I fought against Facebook when everyone started ditching Myspace for it and even my very first post on here says something like, “I don’t know how much I’ll actually use this.” That was in 2009, by the way. 

What color is your favorite sweater?   Black.

What are three things people would never guess about you just by looking at the photos you post on social media?   -Well, I have a friend I chat with in a tiktok live for someone we both obviously watch, but also someone we mod for. Anyway, she was apparently shook when I told her I was turning 34 soon. She claims she legit thought I was 21. I was like omg nice, good people do exist thank you so much lmaoooo. 

-You couldn’t know what health struggles I’ve been struggling with physically and mentally just based off a selfie. 

-Uhhh, you couldn’t guess .... I don’t know, there’s a ton of things you couldn’t guess just based off a photo.

What is one thing you have too much of?   Stuff. But I waaaaant it.

What was the last thing you ate or drank that was blue raspberry-flavored?A slushie quite awhile ago.

What are three of your favorite scents?   Patchouli, cedar wood, sandalwood. 

What was the last flavor of tea you drank? ☕️   Chamomile. 

When was the last time you wore your hair in a fishtail braid?   I’ve never worn my hair that way. I don’t know how to do that type of braid myself and I’ve never asked anyone else to do it for me. 

What is one annoying thing your computer does?   It’s getting a bit laggy. It’s my brother’s that I’ve been using ever since mine went kaput last April, for which I am extremely grateful for. However, it’s full of stuff and it’s super unorganized, so it drives me nuts but I can’t just go cleaning out his laptop and shit. I’m gonna have to ask him if he can clear stuff up, though. I feel so bad I like took over his laptop. It was especially nice to have when I was in the hospital. He’s been really cool about it cause he really didn’t use it anymore once he finished school, but still. He’s furthering his education and going for his master’s, so I think he may need his laptop back. Although, I honestly kinda think he’ll just buy a new one. 

What type of fruit do you eat the most?   I very rarely eat any fruit or consider myself a big fan, but I do like bananas. 

How often do you go out to eat?   I haven’t been out to eat in SO long, but I get takeout all the time.

What would your dream wedding dress look like? 👰‍♀️   I’ve never thought about it, honestly. I don’t see myself ever even getting married to be honest. 

Which fall flavor do you prefer: pumpkin spice or apple cinnamon?   Apple cinnamon.

What is the most annoying thing about your life right now?   Being stuck in this damn bed. It’s beyond annoying. 

Which holiday treat do you like better: candy corn or conversation hearts? I like them both. I know, so controversial. 

What is your favorite apple-flavored treat?   Apple fritters are good.

What are you counting down the days to right now, if anything?   My birthday, kinda. I’m not able to go anywhere again, but at least I’m home and not in the hospital this year. Oh, so since the Barbie movie comes out near my birthday and I was obsessed with Barbies as a kid, I kinda joked about having a Barbie cake and wanting a Barbie, right? Well, it became a thing and now they’re looking for one and I think are getting me Barbies lmaooo. Anyway, so that’s something fun. 

What was the last book you read about?   It’s a murder mystery FBI type stuff.

Have you been daydreaming a lot lately about a scenario you wish would happen?  Yeah. I really want to travel. I need a vacation. I neeeeed the beach. I need a change of scenery. Can I be on bed rest at a nice beach rental overlooking the ocean? ha.

What are three of your favorite things about camping? ⛺️   Nothing, I’m not a camping person.

If you could choose what month to be born in, what month would you have chosen as your birth month, and why?   October would be cool.

What are three of your favorite things to do on a rainy day? 🌧️   I don’t do anything different, but I do love the rain.

When was the last time you felt nauseous?   Earlier. I feel that way a lot.

How far away do you live from the place where you were born?   Like 10 minutes.

Do you prefer zebra print or cheetah print? I’m not a fan of either, honestly.

“Seems completely fair to me” Billie teased, humming with contentment against his lips, before a giggle followed “oh, so that’s what you’re in to, huh?” and her brow rose as she feigned contemplation. “Maybe I take it back, I will be the final girl after all if that's the offer on the table.” The sound of his laughter brought her more joy and comfort that she could ever express, her heart swelling with adoration as her lips lingered against his, before leaning back enough to capture his gaze. “But little yous would be so disgustingly cute” she grinned, her hand lifting to rest against the back of his neck as she bit the inside of her lip to stifle her laughter. “Zera would love our totally hypothetical tribrid kids, because they’re a part of both of us and Klaus would probably tolerate them too” she teased. The smile that tugged at Briggs' features given the approval made her stomach knot, knowing the feeling all too well as she’d been eager to get the approval of his family from the second he’d brought her home. It was a bittersweet thing, their desire to have the approval of each others family; but Billie was more grateful to Zera than she could ever express and that approval wasn’t something that either of them took for granted. “She would have adored you regardless" she promised as another smile crept across her lips, "mainly because of how much you love me and how well” she teased softly, “but also, because you're incredible.”  

Billie’s full bodied laughter returned as Briggs teased her, repositioning her as a shield and that laughter became more intense as he incorrectly named the realtor, to which Billie amended in a whisper back to him, “Barbara, but so close babe.” 

Her hand lay atop of his as it sat against her thigh, the tips of her fingers tracing idle patters against the back of his knuckles, before wandering up his wrist and back down. “I thought that might be a strong selling point.” Her lips twitched, brow having risen as she glanced towards her husband with an expression of complete amusement, “maybe they will. I’m getting a vibe. Oh and I’ve seen the pinterest boards, you don’t wanna know.” Laughter threatened her once again, “but hey, I guess there’s nothing wrong with living in a single wing of your own home, right?” As that laughter began to subside, there was a subtle inhalation of breath as she spoke honestly, “i’m seriously starting to believe it. Hey, we should really test that theory out and hit some casinos.”

His suggestion coaxed another wave of amusement forth and Billie was keenly nodding at the idea, “I bet the tires on the batmobile can survive a curb or ten. Maybe we’ve finally found a me-proof car. It’d definitely look flashier than a beaten up bumper car.” Peering out of the window again as she unbuckled herself, eager to explore, she squinted as she teased, “eh, I was starting to think the compound was feeling a little small – so something bigger couldn’t hurt, right?” Once they had pulled up outside the insanely large property, Billie had already started to hop out of the lambo as she called out to her husband, “last one inside get’s to be the passenger on the drive home!” before bolting up the driveway and towards the mansion.

Her fingers against his skin, her nails, he was going to lose the battle of wills to behave themselves, but by everything he was reading in her body, so was she. "It's always an option," he murmured against her skin, "about to add ghost whisperer to my skillset and send them downstairs. Drag her by her ankles." Stealing a little more time for attention on her neck, the pain in his ass cleared her throat once more as if they hadn't heard her the first few times. "We will continue this later," he whispered his wife's ear.

Every moment they could steal together, they stole. This was the very best of life, and he knew this is exactly where they were supposed to be. This was the life they'd never even dared to dream of fully, and in spite of everything around them, he'd never been happier. The pout brought even more of a laugh, "it's not fair that you know my weakness." Leaning in to kiss her, he murmured, "I forgive you. I mean, being married to a final girl would be pretty cool. All disheveled and powerful, in the blood of your enemies...that's something I could get behind. Or beneath." His cheeky grin dissolved into laughter as they spoke of Zera, joking back, "and I think she's expecting little yous, not little mes, so we better hope we get that right." There was a more genuine smile as she teased about Zera's approval, knowing it was true. At least he had that part of her family, the one that mattered. "I mean, she does like Klaus, so I did have that in my favor since we're a lot alike. I'd have needed you to meet me down the block."

Reaching around to act as though he were going to pull her around as his shield, he teased, "that's not a bad idea." There was a beat to linger on the door and its foreboding familiarity, but nothing like that was allowed to remain, not today. "Scratch basements from the list, Brenda!" He called before pausing and glancing at his wife, mouthing, 'was that her name?'

Making good on his promise to continue where they were headed earlier and a few texts asking if they were lost later, they were back (semi-)focused on their task. Briggs had long given up that their type of houses were on today's agenda. "You had me at bathtub," he quipped, one hand on the wheel, the other resting on her thigh. "Maybe they should buy one of these. I think I'm a little scared of what their Pinterest boards must look like by now." Further laughter was interrupted by pulling up in front of the house, and they just stared for a moment, "holy sh..." The laugh was allowed to finish as she made her motion. "Told you I was psychic," he joked, "the Batcave is definitely underneath this house. We're about to add vigiliante to our résumé." As the gate opened for them, he asked, "does this seem bigger than the Compound to you?"

 Well I am back. Sorry about not posting in a long time. I have had my Steam Deck since I last posted. I am really enjoying my Steam Deck. I have emulated a lot of games on it. Plus other games like Skyrim on it. I am waiting for next month till I get my allowance back to buy things again. This month is all about using my money for Christmas Gifts. I am really looking forwards for Christmas. I decided to update my profile pics on Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook and other pages. Meow I purchased a usb-c usb hub which comes with a HDMI for my Steam Deck and I also purchased a dock for my Steam Deck as well. This neko boy has been putting on hold my writing novels hobby and I am thinking about next month or next year doing something to replace my hobby. I don’t want people to get the wrong impression but this neko boy really is thinking about taking up dance. Yeah dance. I really hoping that I can find a dance class for Adult beginners in my area. I have not told anyone but one of my best friends that I have been milling this idea of doing dance. Meow I have loads of games I want to save up for for the Steam Deck. I am still playing wonderful game of Animal Crossing on my Nintendo Switch. I recently added Plex app to my Steam Deck and created a Plex server on my old desktop PC. It’s been raining off and on for the past couple of days. Well I guess I will end this entry. I probably won’t post any pictures after this entry. I am feeling weird today so I guess.
