why do the songs from the lighting thief fit so well with toh?

Example one: strong - camila and luz. I cant quite decide whether this would be before or after the demon realm, but im pretty sure camila has said that 'the things that make you different, are the very things that make you strong'

Example two: good kid - luz. She never tried to do anything, she never meant to hurt anyone, she only tried to be a good kid, but they didnt see it like that. But now shes good enough for someone. Right before she enters the demon realm

My grand plan - amity. Funny how the percabeth works with lumity too. Example three: Bring on the monsters - the owl kids. This is how season 2 ended and you cant tell me otherwise. THE ENTIRE SONG FITS! Backstory below

Robyn, the younger of the Petrichor twins, grew up in the wilderness of the Myash Woods. Her father, William, was a master hunter, teaching the twins how to hunt, trap, shoot a crossbow, and live off the wilderness from a very young age. Generally, they hunted non-magical game such as deer, elk, foxes, rabbits, and the occasional boar. Her mother, Lucinda, on the other hand, was a kind and gentle woman who studied the fey of the Myash Woods, recording her findings in a field journal. While she rarely shared the contents of her field journal, Lucinda was well known for telling incredible stories and creating beautiful wood carvings of the fey. Being raised in the wilderness, Robyn learned very early that you do not take what the forest does not give and cannot replenish, for if you do so, both you and the forest will suffer. She could observe the natural wonders and magic of the forest from afar and she should only ever hunt what was needed. However, the family did often go into the nearby towns and Orc tribes to sell what extras they had from hunting as well as some of Lucinda’s carvings.

Unfortunately, the autumn after Robyn turned six years old, an enraged werebear seemingly came out of nowhere, severely wounding her mother and kidnapping her identical twin, Koda. While Robyn would later block out this very traumatic event, she developed a very intense fear of werebears. When William eventually came home from his hunting trip, he would find his wife mauled to death and a sobbing Robyn curled up alone on the porch swing, hugging a falcon like no other, a figment of Robyn’s imagination brought into reality. The existence of this falcon, which Robyn would later name Merlin, could only be attributed to Robyn’s exposure to the fey. As time went on, her fear of werebears would turn into one of bears as details became forgotten, and her memories of Koda slowly became replaced by this feeling that an important part of her is missing. Yet, Merlin’s presence helped Robyn work through her grief, as he always seemed to understand her. The two became fast friends, always going on adventures together.

After the attack, William started hunting werebeasts in a desperate attempt to find Koda and avenge his wife, making a name for himself as a skilled hunter of lycanthropes as well within the local towns and tribes. Once Robyn turned thirteen, he began teaching her what he’s learned from hunting those vile beasts. However, Robyn always refused to accompany William on werebear hunts, and even on other werebeast hunts, she often felt unsure of how ethical hunting lycanthropes is.

Two and a half years ago, William went missing without a word and Robyn was all on her own for the first time in her life. That winter, Robyn vastly underestimated how much she needed to get through the harsh weather. In a desperate hunt for supplies, she stumbled upon a lone wolf pup buried in the snowbank next to a small creek. After nursing him back to health and releasing him back into the wild after spring’s thaw, the young wolf stayed close to the young hunter, often following Robyn from a fair distance when she went on hunts. Before long, Robyn had found herself a loyal companion, one that could come and go as he pleases but chooses not to. She also found that hunting alongside Captain, named after that small creek, helped significantly, and she was able to take on the extra requests she needed from the Seekers of Truth in order to stay afloat. Eventually, Robyn was able to finally step out of her father’s shadow, making a name for herself as a formidable hunter alongside her companions.

Jaune: Okay, so from all the information you all have shown me, again thank you all, I think we should discuss some things.

Winter: Indeed. 

Ruby: We need to do something.

Jaune: Okay, first let's discuss the Crown. As Coco told me they were a horrible organization. They target people, especially with valuable semblances. Not to mention they are now partner with Tyrian. A wild card that we may not be able to predict.

Qrow: Yeah he is a slipper guy.

Jaune: We have no idea what their next move will be so we need to be prepared. So I think we send Emerald Sustrai in to infiltrate and spy on them. 

Ruby: What- No!

Jaune: I’m sorry, what's wrong, Ruby?

Nora: Emerald is still a villain, we can't trust her.

Jaune: What? But she helped in the evacuation, I think -

Winter: I agree. Especially considering her past crimes.

Jaune: Fair point but she's the only one who gets in and out while filling us in on what our enemies can do. Plus, if that's the case she can prove herself by helping us. 

Ruby: No Jaune that's too risky.

Winter: I agree.

Qrow: Same.

Raven: Yep.

Jaune: Okay. Next is the Grimm attacks. They are skyrocketing. This may be due to our mistake of bringing too many people to Vacuo. Not to mention Vale citizens. So… I am afraid we need to escort some of them out.

Robyn: What?! Objection!

Obleck: I agree, Mr.Arc. That is cruel.

Jaune: Huh. Cruel? Some of these people want to leave this city and kingdom altogether. Some of the people don't get along with each other as well. Not to mention food and other resources. 

Robyn: We'll find another way to provide. Plus how would get them out?

Jaune: I mean we have ships. We have hunters ready to fight. I mean, yeah, they’ll still have the Grimm to deal with but still. They should spread instead of being cramped up like animals.

Winter: Jaune, these people are our responsibility. We must protect them. Plus if we send hunters around on escort missions our numbers will thin. 

Jaune: I mean we have students who are being trained to fight. Let them go along and shadow the pros. Or stay and help us.

Ren: Jaune that won't help.

Jaune: They will gain experience and probably survive. I think we need to consider our resources.

Ruby: No Jaune. We need a different approach.

Winter: Agreed.

Obleck: Well said, Ms.Rose.

Jaune: Alright. Mm. Okay, so about the tribes. Some of them aren't willing to offer assistance. So, what do we do about them?

Ruby: We try to reason with all of them.

Robyn: Yes!

Jaune: What-?

Obleck: Indeed. We ask for assistance and if they don't provide it-

Raven: We crush them.

Jaune: Shouldn't we be careful though? I mean, we can do that but doesn't that give us more enemies than allies? We can't simply side with anyone and crush those who oppose us. Especially with no research or information on what they could have that we could use.

Raven: This is Vacuo, kid. It's all about dominance.

Jaune: Are you- oh my- okay, okay, breath. Breath. Guys… look. I know this is hard. But… l do need to remind all of you of what's up. First off Tyrian is still on the loose. And he has new allies. Allies who know this kingdom and its people more than we do. Due to the amount of problems many requests for hunters have been skyrocketing.  We have children with no parents. Parents who lost their children. Families whom we can’t feed or provide for. A war could happen at any time and you wish to start one before a greater threat arrives.

Ruby: Jaune we need hunters. We need to tighten security. 

Jaune: No. What we need is resources so we can help people and stop them from killing each other. And even after that, we need to get some of these people out of the kingdom. Do you not know what’s happening with them? Violence. Kidnapping. Rape. Extortion. We are having too many victims. And with more victims, MORE NEGATIVITY.

Oobleck: We understand but we can’t involve the students.

Jaune: My team. Team RWBY. We were first years. We’re still first years. We have been involved in this for months. And remember, these kids are here for the same reason we’re here. To be hunters. And what is needed when being a hunter? Experience. We have missions on the board, too many for us to work with. If we research every or as many teams as we can, we can divide the work among them. And it’s not like they’ll be alone. We have pros who aren’t doing anything. Let them work.

Raven: Then how do we handle the tribes?

Jaune: Not all tribes need to be dealt with. Some we can leave alone. Some might need help. Or we can talk with them. Who knows they may be willing to take some of the citizens off our hands. 

Winter: I understand.

Jaune: I highly doubt that.

Winter: But need our people here.

Jaune: Again some of them don’t want to be here. We might as well be imprisoning them.

Theodore: It seems we are in conclusion. Very well done everyone. Meet achured.

Jaune: We are so f****.

After weeks

Theodore: Oh my god the relic is gone.

Jaune: Probably because we had no guardian it. 

Ruby: Theirs too many Grimm to fight.

Jaune: Maybe because of so many people fighting, stealing and hating each other.

Raven: Too many tribes are against us. They sided with the Crown. 

Jaune: Maybe if we negotiated and made compromises with them we could have turn some of them into allies.

Qrow: Tyrian just killed a Summer maiden. Now Gillian has the maiden powers.

Jaune: If only we had someone to hide among them who could have fed us information so we had a counterattack. Or maybe save our maiden.

Emerald: Merury, please.

Mercury: It’s too late Emerald. Maybe if you found me and tried to help me earlier, I would have teamed up with you.

Jaune: Wow.

Mercury: In fact, I don’t know why they didn’t send you. Probably they didn’t trust you enough. I don’t know why you’re still working with them. Join us.

Jaune: You might be right.

Ruby: Jaune, com on, help us.

Jaune: What’s the point? We already lost.

After the battle

Ruby: A lot of people died.

Theodore: The relic is gone.

Oobleck: Our numbers are thin.

Winter: The people have abandoned us.

Jaune: Really?

Raven: Okay kid, you were-

Jaune: The proof is in the pudding. I know I was right.

Tyrian Callows - The Master of Murder, Mayhem & Multitasking!

So, I recently saw a post discussing Tyrian Callows and I wanted to go into why I find him quite interesting despite his overall demeanor seeming to be that of a nihilistic serial killer.

Off the cuff, when I first saw Tyrian I hated him, "Oh good, another cackling serial killer, I hope e only exists to die & be replaced".

Then he ambushes RNJR & suddenly, oh suddenly I'm having fun!

Because he's not just cackling & killing, he's bombastic, spewing purple prose and strutting around like he's on a stage, then flinging himself through walls for dramatic poses. He waits after receiving major surprise attacks to reveal they didn't hurt him.

He is in essence, a theater kid who happens to also be a cultist and serial killer and I think that is incredibly entertaining if nothing else.

Beyond that I find his fawning behavior on Salem intriguing. Like, even beyond his failure, when Salem is growing in fury & others like Watts & Hazel know to get the fuck out. He starts irrationally offering her acts of service in a bid to make her happy before fleeing as well.

Like, whatever is going on there is interesting if nothing else, I think.

Then there's the fact he is far more insightful than characters like him are usually written as but, its not at the expense of is manic disposition as it often ends up being with say, Joker, bleh.

What I mean is, Tyrian is very good at analyzing people, what they want, what they feel, what will hurt them the most, what above all drives them & can articulate it very easily. Ala his confrontation with Mercury only knowing violence & being too afraid to leave it.

Yet at the same time when out under pressure by Clover, Qrow & Robyn he very quickly starts losing his cool, his mannerism and behaviors become more unhinged & wild, he is legitimately not all there. & it is isn't until he's had time to cool off in the airship that he's back on his game.

Finally there is his 'rivalry' qith Qrow.

To me the fun thing is that there is zero rivalry on Tyrian's end.

Qrow is just someone who he met in V4 and knew to be a capable fighter & important enemy agent. He was excited to fight & kill him & was briefly knocked off his game when disarming Qrow did nothing to slow him down.

Most Hunters based their fighting styles on their weapons so disarming them tends to be a winning move unless they are Hazel, Tyrian or Yang style combatants.

But he was back on his game in short order and still having a great time and even managed to essentially score the win... Right until Ruby dismembered him & he did not take it gracefully.

To say the least, Tyrian is definitely arrogant, I think that much is self evident.

It makes sense, it took a cooperative operation of Mitral Hunters & Atlesian Specialists to take him down. The Queen of Grimm came to collect him herself. His Semblance lets him take Aura out of a fight. & by all accounts he definitely seems to be among the most dangerous combatants on Remnant even without said Semblance.

So yeah, not surprised that he was both knocked off his game & angry about the injuries but after that he doesn't seem to dwell on them much the way Cinder spent several volumes seething over the damage Ruby did to her.

His little foreshadowing moment to Ruby before the election massacre & enjoying Qrow's suffering during Volume 7 very much seem like things he'd have done regardless cos he's just like that.

Tyrian will however exploit the idea of a rivalry to his advantage.

What I mean is, Qrow makes it clear when ambushing him with Clover & Robyn that he holds a grudge over their last fight. Tyrian doesn't utilize that in the three on one beatdown he gets, he's barely keeping his head above water most of that fight.

But once he is back in the game he's cheerfully egging on the break down in the Atlas and Mantle alliance. He's completely ignoring Qrow until the man jumps on him & even then doesn't offer him any unique attention.

Its only once he's established that things with Qrow and Clover have degraded as far as they have that he jumps in. He avoids starting off too violently to see how things go & is well pleased by Clover's dogged commitment to his orders.

Also likely dismissing Tyrian as just a violent lunatic.

It is then and only then that he leans on the idea that he actually wants a rematch with Qrow. But even then he still patiently waits for Qrow to float the idea first. He is playing into Qrow's grudge & Qrow's belief in a Shounen style rivalry & with it the belief that Tyrian will ignore Clover themoment he is not interrupting the fight and duke it out with Qrow.

But Tyrian only plays along with that and instead uses Clover's defeat to end his fucking life and frame Qrow for it.

He certainly has fun twisting the knife but again, this is stuff he does with everyone when he gets the chance. & it serves to make things more complex for Atlas and the now rebellious heroes than it would if Clover & Qrow had died together. Especially as enemy reinforcements are coming.

After this, again, neither Qrow or Ruby warrant a mention from him.

This is his job, they were parts of his assignments and Tyrian just happens to love what he's doing. Which humorously aligns very well with the life advice he gave Emerald and Mercury. Even if that was just because he thinks it'd be fun to be given the chance to kill them.

Anyway those are my takes on Tyrian Callows, evil as fuck, but smarter & more interesting than the usual portrayals of his archetype!

Okay so hypothetically speaking, if Luz were to use the time pools again and met Robyn how would their meeting go?

The boring answer is that nothing big would happen since she probably wouldn't clock he's a Clawthorne if he doesn't reveal himself as one. Luz'd maybe draw a connection to Hunter appearance wise but even then the only thing Roby and Hunter have in common is the nose shape, which is not a Clawthornes only trait (see Alador; also neither Lilith nor Eda have that nose shape) and the hair noodle. But that's two things you wouldn't pay that much attention to and not that unique to immediately clock the connection. Just a "Huh. Looks similar. Oh well anyways-"

The fun answer is that it is somehow revealed Roby is a Clawthorne - by himself or by a third person - and Luz is like "Clawthorne ancestor??" and it slips her tongue that Lilith and Eda exist or something leaving Robyn sorta stunned and sorta happy. Like.. wow okay I guess our bloodline goes on for another few centuries???
