Technically humans are actually bioluminescent. It’s just the kind of light that we emit is not really on the human visible light spectrum. but other animals can see it!

Control your body language, control the world
Why is it so important?
Body language is everything. It’s the silent superpower that influences your success in every area of life. If you can't connect with people, progress becomes impossible. Whether it’s a first date, a job interview, or making friends, your body language does the heavy lifting. It’s not always what you know but who you know. Even if you have a one in a million idea, if no one likes you, it will stay stuck at zero.
We all unconsciously give off subtle signals that reveal our true thoughts and feelings. A mere twitch of someone’s face is all it takes to express displeasure. Mastering your own signals puts you in control of how others perceive you.
The resting bitch face conundrum
If your neutral expression looks angry, sad, or afraid, you have two options:
Adjust your behaviour to compensate - Put your energy into making sure your first impression negates the vibes your resting face gives off. Once you're on more comfortable terms, you can relax and people will know that expression is just your face.
Surgery - This is an option but it's a risky one. If you go down this route, I recommend getting a procedure to fix your mouth into a neutral position rather than a permanent smile. There's a chance you'll come out looking like the joker, and your range of emotions will be restricted.
Fake smiles are worse than not smiling
Please don't fake smile, it doesn't fool anyone. I've seen a fake smile directed at me that gave the distinct impression of an ape preparing to attack, and it's haunted me ever since. A genuine smile reaches your eyes and lights up your voice. It's an infectious, unconscious energy. If you can't muster a real smile, it's better to remain neutral and true to your emotions than have others detect a falsehood from you.
Be open with your body language
Don't mute your expressions and gestures. For some this may have arisen as a defence mechanism, but in adulthood it can make you appear unapproachable. Unlearning this takes time, but its worth it. Once you feel safe to express your true feelings, your authenticity will shine. Being yourself, regardless of others’ expectations, commands respect and attracts people who genuinely like you for you.
(Of course, being authentic doesn’t mean being a public menace. There’s a line.)
Win people over with your body language
Lean in slightly during conversations to show interest.
Nod or smile occasionally while the other person talks to encourage them to keep speaking.
Use your hands when you speak to display enthusiasm.
Don’t hide your hands—it makes people subconsciously think you’re up to something shady.
Maintain good eye contact. Too little, and you seem disinterested; too much, and you risk coming off as intense. Strike a balance by aiming for natural, consistent eye contact about 70% of the time, and break away occasionally to keep it casual.
Respect personal space. Standing too close can make people uncomfortable, while standing too far might seem aloof. Aim for about an arm’s length of distance and adjust based on the other person’s comfort level.
Learn to read others
Once you master your own body language, you can start picking up on what others are saying without words. Spot their tells, mirror their movements and like magic, you’ll become “one of them.” Without quite knowing why, people will feel comfortable around you. This makes any requests or difficult conversations you'll have with them in the future much easier.
Context is key
Body language isn’t one-size-fits-all. What works in a casual setting may not translate in a formal one. Leaning back in a chair might show relaxation with friends but could come across as disengaged in a job interview. Similarly, an enthusiastic wave is great for greeting friends but may seem unfocused in a serious business meeting.
Tailor your approach to the environment and the people you’re interacting with. A little adaptability goes a long way in ensuring your body language sends the message you want it to send.

I need codependent Danny/Jason as a little treat (for me) and I love the idea of them having some sort of instant connection the moment they meet (bc ghost stuff idk)
Danny who's been dropped in Gotham with no way home (alt universe??) and he's been here for 36 hours and having a Very bad time senses a liminal being and immediately latches onto them heedless of the fact that his new best friend is shooting at some seedy guys in an alley and goes off about how stressed he is and how he can't make it back to the ghost zone and what a bad day he's been having (and it's important to note Danny is a littol ghost boy literally hanging off of Jason's neck as he floats aimlessly) and Jason is like "who are you??" And Danny is like "oh sorry I'm Danny lol" and then just continues lamenting his woes
And honestly ? This might as well happen. Nothing about this Danny guy(is he human?) gives Jason a bad vibe and tbh he's never felt more calm and level headed before so he just keeps up his usual Red Hood patrol and doesn't even think about it when he heads back to a safehouse and feeds Danny dinner (breakfast) before crashing for half the day
The only thing I actually need is Jason meeting up with the bats for some sort of Intel meeting and they're like "uhhh who's that" and Jason is like "that's Danny." And does not elaborate (very ".... What do you have there?" "A smoothie" vibes)
And it takes them a while to realize that these two have known each other for less than 12 hours and are literally attached at the hip
#very remora fish with a shark#jason todd#danny fenton#danny phantom#dpxdc#dp x dc#this isnt super important but i imagine Danny's ghost form as young and unaged from his death so jason is used to this small whispy kid#who just hangs off him and talks literally all the time#so when something comes up and someone is like 'idk if we can bring danny looking like... that' (glowing and a literal ghost)#danny is like 'oh ok u need a human? ok :)' and transforms#its been WEEKS#jason didn't know he could do that#nobody did#and now theres this 20ish dude standing there#human form danny doesn't talk a lot (anxiety) ghost form danny can't stop talking (anxiety)#could be a ship fic and at this point jason goes from 'where is my little buddy :(' to 👀😳#i imagine theres a sort of feedback loop with them both feeding off of each other's ecto energies and vibes idk#so when danny is human its not as strong#batman is convince this strange entity is like hypnoyizing his son and like hes not WRONG#but it goes both ways#idk#i just need more codependency fics :(#i should go on a bender#ignore my 500 open tabs and go to town

"Did someone mention bioluminescence? You know humans glow a tiny bit too, right?"
"Oh hey, is that why we're magical?"
"Nah, but it is cool."
"WE'RE WHAT??"
"Hey, you doing okay? You look like you're about to pass out."
"I'M FINE."
“Earthbending and waterbending are the same thing.”
“WTF? No.”
“Sure they are. Water is just melted rock, the same as lava.”
“No, it’s—”
“Ice is a rock.”
“What.”
“The experts agree. It’s naturally occurring, solid, has an organized crystal structure, and has a well-defined chemical composition.”
“But — okay, even if I accept that, which is a big ‘if’ — that’s the same as saying that waterbending is also airbending just because water can evaporate into a gas.”
“Correct.”
“Wait, what?”
“There’s no functional difference. It’s all manipulation of tangible things through willpower alone. Fire is from a different power set entirely.”
“Dare I ask why?”
“Fire is a thing that happens, not a thing that you can scoop into a jar. It projects from a source temporarily. Controlling fire involves manipulation of light, heat, and localized destruction all at the same time. Not every type of heat or destruction, but if you think about it, all light either comes from a sun or from tame lightning.”
“Hold on, so then—”
“A fully trained firebender can glow like a flashlight, incinerate things on the spot, and give you a wicked case of sunburn with radiation that you can’t see. Oh, and if they have enough finesse, they can split their light into rainbows. That’s my favorite firebending skill.”
“I need to sit down.”
“Welcome to Magic 101! I hope you’re taking notes.”
#thanks to beckernyms for reminding me of this excellent fun fact#humans glow#bioluminescence#magic#fun facts#waterbending#firebending#I really need a tag for this thread that I can remember#it took ages to find before#anyways#more fun with this conversation#and yeah that one person definitely needs to breathe into a bag for a while

Prompt 131
Okay, so first of all Dan would like to say it’s not his fault. Ellie was the one to bring some unknown object into the speeder and Jazz was the one driving. Or had Sam been driving- didn’t matter! It wasn’t his fault, he wasn’t the one shooting at them, he wasn’t the one to break whatever, he was not the one to open a stupid portal, and so it wasn’t his fault!
So why is he now like, five years old, and why is the speeder crashed in some sort of corn field. Why is everyone- except for Jazz whose now like six- also like three at most?! And- oh fuck the door just opened and… okay that’s a kid. Like, nine at most.
A kid and an adult, who he hadn’t noticed at first so again, it’s not his fault if he hissed at them and tried to hide his not-siblings behind him. It’s also not fair they’re apparently stuck to ghost speak for who knows how long, but at least they can understand the people.
“Martha, get some blankets, it’s happened again!”
#dcxdp#dpxdc#prompts#What is up with the Kents cornfield that a spaceship with alien children has crashed there twice#Clark: Omg am I an older brother now?? What does an older brother do??#He's going to be so excited when the kids start flying too#Clark: I have eight whole siblings now!#The Kents will end up the most experienced couple in raising superpowered children#Clark: This is Jazz and Dan and Tucker and Danny and Sam and Valerie and Ellie and I love them#The Kents now have two ships hidden on their property lol#and a green glowing dog of some sort that came with one group#the phamily actually get to be kids and don't Have to be vigilantes or are parentified or anything and it's... actually kind of nice#It's peaceful#Ellie definitely doesn't hide the fact she's a clone#They're very limited when re-learning how to talk human language again#so they say some rather concerning things without giving any context for it#not that it isn't concerning even with context anyway lol#Ma and Pa kent nearly cry when they hesitantly ask if their names can be kent too#Clark cries when he goes to metropolis because the kids all cling and try to get him to stay

Cozy Glow is such an interesting litmus test for die-hard bronies. I was checking r/mlp to prep a post and there’s a discussion post about how she deserved what she got and. How do I tell bronies that children should not be tried as adults. How do I tell bronies that psychopaths and sociopaths deserve human rights and treatment and support. How do I tell bronies that cruel and unusual punishments are bad. How do I tell bronies that the death penalty is wrong. How do I tell bronies that a ruling body should not have absolute say over putting someone to death, least of all a 6-year-old child.
These are all my recent google searches.
#delete later#personal#these are all arguments I saw of why cozy glow deserved it btw#“if she was human she’d be tried as an adult for her felonies idc if she’s a child’ ok but she shouldn’t#“clearly she’s a psychopath so it makes sense she’s evil’ do you even hear yourself#reminder that they redeemed the racist politician trying to keep schools racial segregated because he believed in pony superiority#and not the 6 year old child villain#I don’t even really care about cozy glow she’s not gonna be in the AU but people are so fucking weird about her#“some people are just born evil and can’t be changed’ < actual arguement in the thread. do you hear yourself

Yes, Ren genuinely thinks cramming his wolf ears under that hat will distract people from his sharp canines, his tendency to tell Zedaph what to do, and his bad habit of barking at moving objects.
Yes, Doc genuinely thinks hanging an old rag over his face and wearing those ancient spectacles with no lenses will help distract people from... well, everything.
Yes, they're both delusional.
#hermitcraft#my art#rendog#docm77#I'm having fun with this lil cowboy au if you couldn't tell#I just love drawing these block men in the most random outfits. It's practically all I do on this blog#Convenient strip of cloth covering the sides of Ren's head because I STILL don't know how to address his lack of human ears in a way I like#I've been drawing this man for four years. You'd think I would've figured that out by now but noooooo#We use CONVENIENT STRIPS OF CLOTH to solve our problems#Also btw Doc's design here is my standard design for him. Mans is beyond insane to think an old dishtowel will help him blend in#Like half your body is made of metal and the eye not hidden behind an eyepatch glows in the dark. Sweetie

Heya! Sorry it’s late (as usual) but here it is! My piece for BillDip Secret Santa for @pchelaus .. hope you like my take on “Cosmic horror beyond our comprehension Bill taking a liking to flattered but confused Dipper.” !
I had a lot of fun with what features to add to give the whole ‘cosmic horror’ feel but you can never go wrong with some star speckled tentacles and extra sets of eyes lol.
#I would have added the two extra sets of star speckled arms floating beside Bill#but I ran out of time and I was already late so ..#. just imagine that he’s got them lol#Bill thinks he’s doing such a good job at looking human Lmaoo#he’s got arms! he’s got the legs! he’s even got the multiple eyes ! I don’t know what everyone’s screaming about?!#his more natural form is just entirely dark tentacles and arms and glowing eyes that’s bigger than a building#but it’s kinda hard to snuggle with his favourite human when he’s like this so#tiny form!#the face he’s hiding in Dippers hair is just a mass of inquisitive space tentacles#cause Bill can’t quite hold all his form in#essentially when he’s all excited to be juggling his Pinetree!#no mouth#Bill says mouths are stupid when you’ve got eyes and telepathy#art#billdip#billdip art#billdipss2023#billdip2023#billdipsecretsanta2023#gravity falls#bill cipher#dipper pines#aged up dipper pines#billdipss23

One of the best things about Disco Elysium by far is that it does not fear ugly women. The world is full of ugly men, but ugly women are so hard to come by.
#I'm not calling the characters ugly btw#i don't believe any one can be ugly#i do not care for beauty standards and thus i don't rank people based on how “ugly” or “pretty” they are#but the characters in DE do not meet the conventional beauty standards and look like actual people with unique faces#and thus would be considered “ugly”#and that is so important to me. i go feral whenever media represents how people look like in real life and not how they look like in the#fictional parallel universe where everyone is a model and where a majority of the movies take place#because irl you don't have to be a model to be desirable#the most attractive man in any video game I've ever played has a receding hairline and a big nose and thick glasses and a small chin#and not only is representing realistic people. just good. in general. but it makes the character of Dolores Dei stand out so much more which#works for the game so well. she's barely human. she's a deity- a myth- a legend. the only version that exists of her now is the one with#glowing lungs. she's perfectly beautiful because she's inhuman. the fact that everybody else looks so human only highlights how inhuman she#has become yk?#if everyone was as conventionally attractive as her then she wouldn't stand out. we wouldn't get why she's so special.#disco elysium#disco elysium analysis#media analysis#beauty standards#this is only one aspect of how this game portrays real people btw. as someone interested in character design this just immediately stood out#to me#the first time i noticed it was when i first met garte and the second time was when i met ruby because neither are conventionally desirable#oh my fucking god the nerds who complain about a woman with a model face having body hair in a video game would perish if they played this#mainstream game/movie studios catering to western masses could never

“When toxic behavior is portrayed as romantic, it’s problematic. When problematic behavior is portrayed as a character flaw for a character to work through, it’s good storytelling.”
Katsuki Bakugou, my friends.
His behavior was problematic but never once portrayed as romantic at the same time. Katsuki said and did awful abusive things, and he also chose to be better when he was given the chance. If you’re still hung up on chapter 1 Katsuki now then I don’t think you’ve been reading the same story I have.
I can’t speak for everyone, but I’m not shipping Izuku with an irredeemable abuser. I’m shipping him with his most important person. His narrative foil. His childhood friend who made awful mistakes and then made it right when he saw he was wrong. The person Izuku looks up to and strives to emulate, despite their past struggles.
Bakudeku is so good because of how flawed these boys are, and how hard they’ve worked to get over it, and how much they matter to each other after it all
#perfect stories about perfect people who never do anything wrong are usually boring#stories about growth and mistakes and redemption and forgiveness and progress are lit#bkdk#bakudeku#the quote is from cinema therapy on YouTube btw#love them so much#they look at media and talk about what is and isn’t good from a real life human perspective#and boy did this quote slap me in the face#anyway this is my thought literally any time anyone says something about shipping Izuku with his abuser#if he was still being abused then I get it#but he’s not#and saying he needs protection from Katsuki is honestly doing his character dirty#and this is not to say that every situation with an abuser and a victim should turn out romantic#obviously not#the world is not black and white and neither are people#sometimes you have to get yourself out and never look back and that is valid and healthy#but sometimes you’re talking about two boys in a manga who literally cannot stop thinking about how good and incredible the other is#bro I get it#surface level chapter/episode 1 Katsuki is literally the worst#but his glow up has been literally meteoric

Feeling unsafe is not the same as being unsafe and people are unable to distinguish between the two - you always have a right to be safe, but you do not necessarily have the right to always feel safe. This is an underlying theme in a lot of issues, like judging others' kinks, queerness, race, media analysis, and more; what the real heart of the problem is is unfamiliarity, things that people do not know and thus shrink away from in fear or disgust or discomfort. It can be a basic instinct to approach change and unfamiliarity with caution, but it needs to be an intentional act to challenge that fear/world view. It is something that we owe to the people around us, and that we owe to ourselves.
#I mean obviously this is not saying anything new#but often you will see people talk about feeling unsafe when strange and unfamiliar things are brought up#and they may feel unsafe but they are not *actually* unsafe#and they're not entitled to that feeling of safety over the existence of those unfamiliar to them#anyway that's the larger view of it and of owing that to others and ourselves in the name of human growth and development#but I started this post because I see it so much in media especially moreso nowadays#where I feel like media literacy is at an all time low#just because a movie evokes very strong and scary emotions doesn't mean it had a bad message or even was a bad movie#it's feelings you have to examine#this is about I saw the TV glow lol
