the first room draco malfoy sleeps in after inheriting malfoy manor is the one he shares with astoria.

it's further from scorpius's room than he likes, but it's the biggest and has the nicest windows, and they make do. it's the room with the big walk-in closet and the window seat where astoria spends hours reading, both to herself and out loud for her family.

it's the room where draco finds his wife and son playing board games - both magical and muggle - together at the end of the day. he doesn't know much about the muggle things, and neither does astoria, but it's always fun to figure them out.

this room is the one with the big king-sized bed that holds all three malfoys on nights when scorpius has bad dreams, or even those where he simply wanted more time with his parents.

it's the room that draco takes for granted.

the second room, the one he moves to after astoria's death, is across the hall from his son. it's small and cramped, previously more of a closet than a bedroom. it's a perfect place for a broken heart.

the bed is smaller, a queen, but it still fits scorpius on the nights when they need to have a cry together. the wardrobe in the corner is tiny, but draco's clothes never took up much space anyway. the floor doesn't have enough space for draco and scorpius to stretch out on the infrequent nights scorpius pokes his head in with a chess board, so instead of games, all the room sees is tears. that's okay, draco thinks. he deserves it.

beginning in their eighth year, blaise and pansy had some sort of friends with benefits arrangement. draco never truly understood it, nor did he try to, but the whole thing came crashing down when scorpius was ten and pansy arrived at the manor in a state after finding out she was pregnant.

leilani grows up alongside scorpius, a younger sister of sorts who adores her "older brother" more than anything. pansy and blaise are both busy with work at the ministry, but pansy - a journalist - has far less structure than office worker blaise, which leaves him as the one to bring leliani over the most often.

draco can't pinpoint the moment their friendship turns into something more. he can only remember not feeling anything other than joy the first time they kissed, underneath a mistletoe during scorpius's seventh year. he can also remember pansy storming into the room right after and yelling "i knew it" before tackling them into a hug.

the third and final bedroom draco sleeps in is the one with blaise in it. it's just next door to his first room, where his first bed is collecting dust as it has been since astoria's final night in it. this room is slightly smaller, and its closet took a bit of charming to fit all of their clothes, but it feels perfect. not better than his room with astoria, not worse, just different. draco wouldn't want it any other way.

leilani gets the room across the hall, which is huge - almost bigger than scorpius's - and very fancy and perfect for spoiling her in. scorpius is twenty by the time there's a new ring on draco's left hand, and he drags albus potter all around his childhood home by one hand while a ten-year-old leilani takes hold of the other.

"i bet she's a gryffindor," draco whisper-shouts as he stands between blaise and pansy to watch. pansy gags.

"she was raised by three slytherins," pansy says. "there's no way, right?"

"scorp was a ravenclaw," blaise points out.

a year later, two weeks after scorpius's wedding and the night of leilani's first day at hogwarts, they get their answer.

"they have always been close," pansy says with a frown.

"i told you so," blaise replies, grinning as he pulls draco in with one arm and pansy in with the other.

the bed in draco and blaise's room is still a queen, the same size as the one in draco's second bedroom, but it fits three adults just fine.

Also it just occurred to me, but does Caleb still not know who Teddy is? I mean beyond knowing he's Jamie's childhood friend?

No he can not.

Brilliant question, and he sure doesn't! So the way I see it, he's probably heard the names Tonks and Remus said in passing or read over them while studying, but he never went very far into learning about the Wizarding Wars cuz he just. Didn't care. He didn't think it would effect him, and he's one of those people who just doesn't like history (like my sister; red flag number eight hundred).

So he has no idea Teddy’s parents were war hero's, doesn't know his father was a werewolf or his mother was an auror, doesn't know TEDDY worked as an auror, doesn't know even a fraction of how powerful a wizard Teddy is. Basically all he knows is he's Jamie's father's godson? And they're childhood friends? And James likes him a LITTLE too much (in Caleb’s opinion). And he knows Teddy is a metamorphmagus and that he has a MEAN right hook.

That's about it.

Teddy's just a guy to Caleb. He's a rival for James' attention and affection (though it's not much of a competition 🙄 man is delulu). He's a roadblock that needs to be removed for Caleb to have access to James again (good luck with that, idiot).

Now, WILL HE learn everything in the future?

Yes indeed he will~

Will we see his reaction to it? Dunno yet. It may happen off page, unless readers REALLY want to read it. It may be entertaining/cathartic. We'll see!

i. plot drop

the date is 22 / 12 / 2030. the sun has set on the winter solstice and darkness settles over the ministry of magic like a curtain falling — the conclusion of the final act, the ceasing of applause, and the end of all things. all is well. lights are out in the ministry and posts abandoned, save for a select few unspeakables who work in terse silence some nine levels below london. all across the city, wraiths and knights alike are taken by a deep and dreamless sleep that creeps in through open windows; a quiet thief in the longest, darkest night.  meanwhile, as yet unseen and unheard, death itself stands on the opposing side of the veil — a lonely sentinel whose charge has been violated beyond all reason. it brushes one bony finger across the whispering curtain, stirring up a thrum of excited keening at its very touch. here, the barrier is thinnest. here, it stands in careful contemplation. as it ponders, the air around the archway beyond grows suddenly thick and impossibly more still.  it is the quiet before the storm.   whether in gold or years or mortal souls, the ferryman will have his due. for without night, there is no day. without death, there is no life. pretending otherwise is folly —but is that not the cardinal sin of the living? try as they may to hide or to barter, there is always a score to settle. through the hubris of children, the hand of the the very primordial force they sought to cheat and evade has finally been forced.  death hums, and the sound resonates throughout the chamber as though coming from within the walls of the ministry itself. the thrilled chattering of spirits lurking beyond the curtain matches its cadence. the ground begins to tremble and the select few witnesses on the mortal plan are forced to avert their eyes as the curtain begins to fall inwards; once empty space forced into a vacuum of blinding light.  for a single moment, there is silence. then, the suggestion of a form approaching from some far-off place. and then another. the dead walk again en masse and in perfect form. they are vibrant, and they are real, but they will never again enjoy the peace of eternal slumber. they are equal parts promise and threat. death's voice, when at last it speaks, is sly and reproachful. "you wished to understand mortality? then understand it fully."

ii. plot points

22 / 12 / 2030 : the veil shatters and the dead return. the newly resurrected, once loyal to the dark lord, take to the streets of london to exact their revenge on wizards and muggles alike. no one is safe, and the erinyes, the knights, and the order must all band together to put an end to the violence.

25 / 12 / 2030 : the members of order of the phoenix host a christmas dinner at number 12 grimmauld place. they are joined by loved ones from both the land of the living and beyond; a glimmer of hope and a moment of peace and joy in these uncertain times.

31 / 12 / 2030 : amidst the chaos, the wizarding world's new years eve celebration takes place in hogsmeade. referred to as hogmanay, it is an annual tradition among the scots.

01 / 01 / 2031 : there is a feast at lestrange manor, where voldemort reveals his plans to use the newly resurrected as a means to his own nefarious ends.

Hazel Fern Dursley

Hazel is the daughter of Dudley and Eleonor Dursley. She is also their second child

Hazel has an older sister named Heather Petunia Dursley and a kid sister named Daisy Poppy Dursley

Looks more like her mom with a mix of her dad

Before Hazel and her sisters were born, Dudley and Harry reconnected after the war at Hogwarts, where they, over the years, got a bit closer, and they even attended each other's weddings

Dudley also got to meet the Weasley clan briefly

When Hazel first started showing signs that she was magic, it was at the age of 6, and she started making things float, come alive, and/or explode out of nowhere

Dudley had an idea of what was happening and invited Harry into his home, where he confirmed Dudley's suspicions that Hazel was, in fact a witch

Eleanor was more surprised than Dudley. She knew some of Dudley's family history along with some of Harry's and knew that Lily was a witch and she was a muggle, but both Eleanor and Dudley thought Hazel would be pure muggle

Harry explained everything and tried his best to give as much information about the Wizarding world as he could, along with information about Hogwarts to help them be prepared for what happens when Hazel reaches the age of 11 without overwhelming them completely

Harry also tried to keep his adventures in Hogwarts to himself since he didn't want to worry his cousin and his wife more than they already were and he would assure them that his children, nieces, nephews, and Teddy would watch over her so she wouldn't be alone

Dudley and his wife Eleonor took in the information the best they could, but it wasn't easy.

They were extremely worried about Hazel entering a new world that they had no experience in and were secretly dreading the day the letter for Hogwarts would come

When the letter did come, Harry personally delivered it. Hazel was extremely nervous, while her parents tried their best to smile and support her, but they were just as nervous as their daughter was (and it showed)

Before Hazel went to Hogwarts, her mom made her promise to keep them updated weekly with bumches of letters telling them everything, and her dad was just praying that Hazel would fit in and make friends

After Hazel went into Hogwarts, she was sorted into Hufflepuff

Before Hogwarts, Hazel felt very close to her parents and sisters, but after she started at Hogwarts, she started feeling estranged from her own family

Hazel considered her and her big sister Heather as thick as thieves, but after Hogwarts, they started drifting apart, and Hazel even heard Heather talk bad about her with her muggle friends saying how she went to a school for "special" kids

Hazel even noticed that when she would come home for break and she would show what she learned, her parents would be uncomfortable and even startled to the point where she stopped talking to them about Hogwarts or anything witchcraft related

The only person in her family who would want to see her magic would be Daisy, her kid sister

But that didn't help Hazel's feelings of insecurities and indifference

Hazel even got depressed to the point where she would spend more time with her cousins than with her parents or sisters. She would even stay over for a few days.

She also started hating being a witch and wished every day that she was normal so that her family wouldn't see her as a freak

This went on for almost 2 years until Harry, Hermione, and Petunia came in and fixed things (yes, Petunia is still alive. Rip to Vernon)

Harry and Hermione talked some sense into Dursley, and Petunia talked some sense into Heather

When Petunia got news, one of her granddaughters was a witch, shocked would have been an understatement of how she felt. But after some time, she learned that she never loved her granddaughter Hazel any less

When Petunia saw what was happening between Heather and Hazel, it reminded her of herself and Lily, and that relationship was the last thing she wanted for her granddaughters, so she decided to fix it (and it worked)

Little by little, Hazel and her family started settling into a new rhythm. She slowly tells them everything that's been going on at Hogwarts that she didn't say

Hazel and Heather have grown a new and strong sister bond along with Daisy

The Dursley's even started visiting Harry and getting to know more of the Wotter clan

Hazel has become extremely close with James, Teddy, Lily, Albus, Freddie, and Victoire

Hazel has also developed a love for herbology, potions, history of magic, charms, DADA, transfiguration, care for magical creatures, and divination

Her patronus is a Panda

Hazel is also very close with her uncle Harry and Hermione

There are still times when she still feels insecure and scared because she also knows about her uncle Harry's childhood living with the Dursley's, but her whole families support is enough to keep the bad thoughts at bay

Hermione and Eleonor are working together to start up homes for muggle witches and wizards who don't have a good home life, were kicked out or no home at all since not every muggle wizard or witch is as fortunate
