Is Starbucks really sending money to Israel?
I understand that so many people have been concerned over the welfare of Palestinian citizens and whether or not specific companies are supporting the wrong cause, but has anyone actually checked for credibility? I always see people claiming that Starbucks has specifically sent money to the Israeli Government but they never have proof to support those claims.
If you take a few moments to look up whether or not this is true there's a lot of evidence that actually supports the opposite.
In an article dating back to 2014 by "Starbucks Stories", neither Howard Shultz (Former Company President) or the company itself have claimed or been proven to have spent any money regarding political climate or warfare.
Upon being asked: "Is it true that Starbucks or Howard Schultz provides financial support to Israel?" the reply was,
"No. This is absolutely untrue. Rumors that Starbucks or Howard provides financial support to the Israeli government and/or the Israeli Army are unequivocally false. Starbucks is a publicly held company and as such, is required to disclose any corporate giving each year through a proxy statement."
Additionally any rise of hate towards the company allegedly stems from a now-deleted "X" post and the fact the company had sued its union for publicly standing with Palestine. I personally do not find this as a means to cause an uprise and boycott, though, because the company has stated that they are not affiliated with anything political nor do they interact with issues of that nature. Realistically, the Starbucks Union posting of their stance on a government issue was most likely a breach of contract or company policy regarding their disdain for "political matters".
Sara Kelly, executive vice president for the company said:
"We strongly disagree with the views expressed by Workers United, including its local affiliates, union organizers and those who identify as members of 'Starbucks Workers United' -- none of these groups speak for Starbucks Coffee Company and do not represent our company's views, positions, or beliefs,"
Again, this isn't necessarily a means to provoke a boycott. If she were to openly speak out for or against any government issue, especially as a world-wide company, this could cause many problems, such as loosing money and buissiness partners, which may be selfish to the public eye but financial disputes between companies and keeping the company afloat is probably more important than responding to the general public's accusations.
Also, the company is ran by so many different people all of whom share their own beliefs.
Sarah Kelly also stated:
As a leadership team, we want to again express our deepest sympathy for those who have been killed, wounded, displaced and impacted following the heinous acts of terror, escalating violence and hate against the innocent in Israel and Gaza this week. Starbucks unequivocally condemns acts of hate, terrorism and violence,”
Starbucks stands against violence and with the innocent people being harmed. The boycott should be called off, as the evidence stating the company does not support Israel heavily outweighs what does say they support Israel.
I think that the boycott should be called off under the notion "innocent until proven guilty" and that people should stop attacking others for buying from the company; also don't join the bandwagon and believe everything you see on TikTok...
I wold write a more in-depth debunk but class is almost over. And, I feel like I may sound like a very problematic person but if I'm going to be honest I felt like I had to clear the air around this controversy as a freshly-turned 16-year-old who needs a job (there aren't very many choices for me). I personally only want for the bloodshed to stop and do not side with either or any government.

Boycott Israel
So today I'll be doing soda, beverages, and fast food. note: these were a little harder to research but this website answered all my questions: Cokea motherfucking cola.... this one needs to be banned -the least bad thing they did was a series of top Isreali names on their bottles... not a single one was Arabic even though Israel has a population of over 1.5 million Arabs. - every year they get awards from the American-Israel Chamber of Commerce, meaning they contribute to isralian economy hard. -factories in places illegally occupied by palestine -in 2009 cocacola hosted a reception at the world hq for a warlord Brigadier-General Ben-Eliezer. He was responsible for the execution of 300 Eqyptian pow.
coke also owns simply oj products, minute maid, costa cofee, gold peak tea, smart water, dasani, poweraid, and fairlife dairy products
Starbucks's ex ceo Howard shultz gives money to the Israelian gov/ army. The primary source is hard to find but lots of people point out b.s. -is praised for Israel's public relations success, meaning he supports Israel looking good to the public and he actively an advocate
Mcdonald's ass is giving free meals to the isralian army... enough said -in 2004 an employee in israel was fired for speaking arabic to a customer at work, mcdonalds did not stand up for their worker thus enabled ethnic cleansing
So MATTHEW PATRICK of foodtheory did a test on off brand diet cokes to see which tasted similar to the real deal. His choice of the best alternative was Harris Teeter's brand of soda. Harris teeter is owned by American company Kroger.
Stop buying mcdonalds, opt for local diners, smaller business fastfoods, or BE HEALTHY and eat a mf home cooked meal w no preservative, or a fucking salad

Tumblr media
"... Alive from Off Center, renamed Alive TV in 1992, was an American arts anthology television series aired by PBS between 1984 and 1996. Each week, the series featured experimental short films by a mixture of up-and-coming and established directors. Notable episodes included 'As Seen on TV,' starring comic actor Bill Irwin as an auditioning dancer who becomes trapped in a television, wandering among daytime dramas, MTV, and PBS's own Sesame Street and the atmospheric puppet melodrama 'Street of Crocodiles,' adapted by the Brothers Quay from the Bruno Shultz story. I gotchu!
Here's the ones I was thinking about earlier, though you might already be familiar with the first two;
Here's also an Op-Ed series the Advocate did in 2015 called "Boys Do Cry" about violence against transmac folks
I know the FORGE study has become controversial for some reason online. Like, I've people interpret it as saying that transmascs have it worse than transfems. However, I think a more accurate read of the data, especially in concert with later research like Ableson (2014, 2019), is that they experience violence at similar rates but the nature of the violence can differ depending on several factors (your agab, if you 'pass' or are stealth, your job, your race, where you live, etc.). There are broad trends between the groups, but it can vary
Here's the study I worked on (I'm Allen, S., I had to find, read, and analyze all of the news articles in the bib. It was as emotionally taxing as it sounds);
Olsen, L. M., Settembrino, S., Allen, S., Howard, M. 2023. "Urban and Rural Media Reporting on Violence Against Transgender People". Pp. 107-123 in Gender-based Violence and Rurality in the 21st Century: Interdisciplinary Approaches. Bristol: Bristol University Press.
I also found some other papers while looking for these that you might find useful on or around this topic. I've only read the abstracts of these so far, but I thought I'd pass them along regardless;
Seriously, go track down Abelson, she has several publications about transmascs, it seems to be her life's work
If you're not able to access something, let me know and I can send you the pdfs
You're a fucking moron :))
If bigots hate trans people equally they'd kill as many trans men and Theyfabs as they do Trans Women.
But they don't. You're so fucking scared of acknowledging you have modicum of privelage over us. Because you might have to be held accountable for the vitriolic bile you spill over the internet.
This isn't your safe space to wave-away critically thinking and have a pity party.
If you think I should die, why don't you come and do it yourself since you're so mad everyone before you has failed?

Not that I have to defend myself in any case, but if you must know:
-I am actually perfectly fine and in a sound state of mind. I'm not a conspiracy theorist and I am not paranoid, nor do I have a paranoia disorder or anything of the sort. As someone who has had plenty of relationships with people who do, as well as other mental health issues, it's completely uncalled for to insinuate that I am "unwell" and I don't appreciate it. My response would be the same for anyone who assumed this of anyone. That is all I will say on the matter.
-I am a writer. My last post(the one with the underwater effect laid over it) was oversimplified on purpose. This was in order to grab the reader's attention and point it at a serious topic. The same as Newspaper headlines do before diving into the details. While I did not provide details on my own, there are plenty sources added in the comments, reblogs, and on social media in general. Of course there is multiple reasons the death toll is going down. There always is. Of course there are still people alive is Gaza. That does not negate the fact that people have been murdered simply for the fact of living.
-If you would look at my page, at my intro post, you would find I clearly state that if you have any problems with anything I have said, to please respectfully and kindly point out the issue to me and that I will do my best to right my wrongs. And plenty people actually have! Which is why I have edited the original post to include an apology for spreading misinformation and pointed them towards one of my reblogs in which I actually source articles, websites and newsletters. These sources explain in detail that while Starbucks in itself are not complicit in genocide, one of their largest shareholders and CEO, Howard Shultz, is a proud Zionist. I am still working in order to undo the spread of misinformation caused by my original post. And once again, I do apologize to anyone who comes across this one who may still believe in my original sentiments. I should have vetted my resources thoroughly. And I didn't. That's on me.
While I am fully aware that when taken out of context of which my mind was in the moment, I sound fearful and unknowledgeable. This is a fair assessment.
And considering the topic of the matter is a genocide in the Middle East while I myself am in America? I think it's fair to feel scared and uncertain. Plenty of people are. It is only natural that it bleeds into people's posts as well. People are allowed to be scared about big issues. Especially if they don't know the full details yet. This is an over 70 year long issue that has just recently became so big that it no longer can be ignored. I have since been able to educate myself better on the topic and have also explained as much in an edit on the original post, as reads below:
Tumblr media
(ID: screenshot of sunnywalnut's original textpost regarding Starbucks with an edit that reads as follows. "EDIT- I have since been informed that the Starbucks brand itself is not complicit in genocide and instead it is the CEO of Starbucks who is a Zionist. I have since made an apology post for accidentally spreading misinformation in the reblogs and have tagged my sources with evidence. If you can, please repost that version of this post instead.
"I will still be leaving this version of the post(the original) up and unedited, because I do not want to appear as if I am trying to change the narrative in any way or pretending as if what I have said doesn't exist or affect people.
"While I am more than a little embarrassed about my initial approach to the subject, I have since learned more proper ways of threading together my thoughts as well as vetting my resources thoroughly. Thank you, and I hope you have a good night/day. Free Palestine." :end ID)
As someone who now has an audience, it is my responsibility to ensure that the information that I provide as facts are actually factual. I am, and will continue to do what I can in order to be open and honest, as well as factual in my approach. I did not do this before because I was not aware of how many people would see and interact with my post. Prior to this year, my only audience has been myself as well as friends and mutuals that know me personally. They know I exaggerate to apply importance to topics. They know that I get fired up when I start to rant and ramble. And they know that sometimes, they'll have to fill in the blanks or rely on information that I have already given them in past conversations.
While this is not an excuse, this is an explanation. My intention was never to harm or mislead anyone at all. And it never will be.
That is why I would also like to touch on some of the half baked talking points in my original post that I was not capable in explaining fully:
-The whole art of Marketing in general is based off of psychology and how to influence human behavior. This is not anything new and is arguably, is some level of common knowledge. Dog food ads tug at your empathy and your love for you dog. Clothing ads stroke your vanity and yearning for confidence. Food ads poke at your cravings and hunger. Just because a lot of these are common does not mean that it is not psychology. It just means that we as a society are informed about different topics. Which is good. I myself have taken marketing classes in order to learn more about this and it's genuinely mind-blowing how much thought actually goes into these kinds of things! That being said, it is not completely off base to assume that the reason Starbucks has changed their approach to advertising because of the recent heat on their brand.
-If placed in the certain context of marketing and only marketing, instead of activism, Starbucks is an extremely popular brand. Except their product really doesn't live up to the hype. It tastes awful, often has way too much sugar, and is overpriced. How do you market something edible without talking about taste?? Easy. You talk about the experience surrounding it. Like Olive Garden does with their commercials. The families sitting around the tables and laughing as little ones grab for breadsticks and have crumbs all over their faces. Except coffee isn't pasta. It's not a family meal. It's a grab and go sort of thing nowadays.
-The draw of Starbucks itself comes in from the fact that you can customize. And the brand itself. The logo is very well known on it's own. So much so that you can likely point it out in TV shows and other kinds of media, even if that's not the focal point of the story. Which brings me to my main talking point.
The fact that an official brand that is uniquely popular on it's own and well known for being brand first, quality later has decided to take the same approach of background product placement in an official advertisement over their usual "hey this is our brand!!! Come buy it!! We've got new flavors!!!" Is.... Worrying. It feels offhanded and sneaky.
I mean hell. In the movie Grease, the Coca-Cola poster had to be blurred out because the brand that the producers made a deal with Pepsi!
Reeses got popular because of E.T. Mean Girls is littered with e.l.f cosmetics.
Product placement is a thing! It's an actual marketing tactic. And just because it is not one that is usually spoken about in favor of more obvious tactics does not mean that I am "paranoid" for mentioning it. It means I noticed it because I've done this kind of thing myself.
Today I saw my first Starbucks ad that had careful product placement, no words or obvious promos, and just two people having a good time.
And to that I want to say.
Fuck you Starbucks.
I know what you're doing.
Lost enough money due to supporting Israel that you've finally turned to sneakiness? Your brand suddenly isn't enough to sell? How saddening.
Like I know that brands and businesses do product placement. I know they do ads and promos. I know they do things to show their "customers"(actors) having a good time with their products. That's not just a Starbucks thing.
But what IS a Starbucks thing is the sneaky approach to it now. They were so careful to have the only logos showing being on the cups. It's subtle. And it's definitely on purpose. Trying to get you to crave both the drink and the experience.
BUT HEY.
REMEMBER.
STARBUCKS AIN'T SHIT GUYS.
IT'S BITTER, OVERROASTED COFFEE BEANS IN A CUP COVERED UP WITH ENOUGH SUGAR TO KILL A MAN.
There's no fucking way that you're going to be enjoying yourself while choking down a caramel French toast macchiato that tastes like licking a dirty brick y'all.
Also like. They're supporting genocide, so.
Maybe. Don't fall for the new promos. Okay?
Free Palestine.

All tea all shade but star bucks as a company throws out thousands of dollars worth of edible food and will fire employees on the spot if they salvage the "expired" food.
Because even though they are throwing it in the trash it's still considered theft.
And they keep dangling promotions in front of our heads and not actually following through.
Fuck (and i cannot stress this enough) Howard Schultz.
