Housemade Dip Trio
Tumblr media
Whether you want to make something fast and easy for lunch or dinner, or you want to treat your friends and family to a special treat, this Housemade Dip Trio is the perfect combination of flavors! You can make them in just a few minutes and enjoy a delicious, nutritious snack that is full of protein, fiber, and healthy fats!
Hummus
Whether you’re looking to add an easy side dish to your dinner, a healthy lunchtime snack, or a delicious accompaniment for a variety of meats, hummus is sure to please. You can make it in your own kitchen in just 7 minutes.
Hummus is a traditional Middle Eastern dip made from cooked mashed chickpeas. It’s a great way to get more protein into your diet. You can also add a variety of flavors to make your hummus unique.
You can serve hummus in a deep bowl or on top of a soft-baked pita. You can also serve it with a drizzle of olive oil or a balsamic glaze. You can garnish it with fresh herbs and chopped sun-dried tomatoes. It’s also delicious as a salad dressing or spread on homemade tacos.
You can make hummus in a food processor or blender. You can also use a potato masher. This will give you a creamier consistency.
Salsa Verde
Texicali is a local Charlottean company that makes a trio of a kind of salsas. The trio includes three salsas in total, each made from a different vegetable. They’re a great way to add some zest to your next fiesta.
The three salsas, which can be paired with a wide variety of foods, are accompanied by three dips that aren’t afraid to make a statement. For example, the corn pico is made from fresh corn and tossed with lime juice.
The Salsa Verde is an example of a modern day version of the famous salsa made by Mexicans in Mexico. It is a tangy green salsa made from tomatillos, and it is definitely a winner. You’ll get to sample it on a platter bigger than your face!
The best part is you don’t need to know how to cook a tomatillo to make this dip. If you’re not a green chile connoisseur, you can use other types of chiles, such as poblanos and jalapenos. The secret is to roast them, which brings out their smoky flavor.
Jalapeno
Whether you are looking for a spicy dish to satisfy your inner Texan or a tasty appetizer to sate the appetite of your tastebuds, a jalapeno housemade dip trio is the way to go. Whether you serve it in a tortilla or just on its own, it’s sure to impress.
You’ll want to keep in mind that your jalapeno trio won’t last very long if you’re feeding a crowd. The aforementioned jalapeno trio is the star of the show, with corned beef, chicken and a dollop of hot sauce making appearances as well. You can make this a day in advance for a low-key dinner party or serve it up as the entrée for a night of opulent revelry.
The jalapeno trio is actually not a trinity but a trifecta. You’ll want to start by heating up the tomatillos and the jalapenos. If you’re a fan of the peppers, go ahead and cut the ribs off of the jalapenos for a spicy kick.
White Bean Dip
Whether you’re hosting a game day get together or just want a quick and easy appetizer, this White Bean Dip Trio is a great option. It’s also a healthy option.
To start, combine the drained cannellini beans in a food processor. Add the garlic and tahini, and process until smooth. You may need to add a splash of water to thin the mixture. If you want a little extra heat, add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
For a richer flavor, you can also add olive oil and sundried tomatoes to the dip. These add a bright red color and depth of flavor. You can also store the dip in the refrigerator for up to five days.
If you’re looking for a dip to serve alongside your meal, hummus is an easy and delicious option. You can serve it as a veggie sandwich spread or on a grain bowl. You can also serve it with chips or pita chips.

Sonia!!! It’s nice ask day and I’m here to ask what your favourite meal is please (you can give me a top 3 if you can’t choose) 💖💖
Hi Rae! Thank you for this nice ask and also for perceiving me because you know I can't pick one of anything. 😂
Top 3 meals (with pictures because I also perceive you lol 💖):
Omelets and breakfast potatoes/hash browns: Omelets are fun because they can be so versatile and are (thankfully) easy to whip up. I love breakfast potatoes (I mean, really any potato-- shout out to french fries!). Especially diner breakfast potatoes. IYKYK.
Tumblr media
Mangú con Salami, Huevo y Queso Frito: Another breakfast item, but honestly, I've had this for lunch and dinner too lol. This is a Dominican dish, and it's mashed up green plantain puree (mangú) with slices of salami, eggs, and fried cheese. We have lots of incredible dishes, but this one is a classic and my favorite.
Tumblr media
Fruits de mer: This dish is sadly no longer on the menu at my favorite restaurant. 😭 They updated the menu, blah blah blah. Lol. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! [I'm fine 🤣] But it consisted of housemade squid ink cavatelli, preserved lemon & chili pomodoro sauce, mixed seafood, and bread for dipping. It. Was. So. Good. I was devastated when I stopped by the restaurant late last month for a belated birthday dinner and found it was gone from the menu, but I will always remember it with adoration. Technically, I could learn to make it myself but it just won't be the same! Here’s a picture from my birthday last year, I totally don’t look at with yearning or anything. 😆

Tsukemen Aizen, 232 E 2nd St, Ste B, Los Angeles, CA 90012
Tumblr media
I’ve had tsukemen a couple of times and Tsukemen Aizen’s style is definitely different than the other places that I went to. The broth is fish-based, so it’s definitely “fishy” and the chashu isn’t thick cut but is paper thin and tender (reminded me of rare roast beef, only made with pork). The housemade broth features pork that’s cooked for 12 hours, chicken bones, vegetables, and mackerel bones. The broth is rich, thick, and deep in flavor.
The menu includes tsukemen (small or regular size, original or deluxe), tonkotsu ramen, ramen toppings, sides, dessert, and drinks. They have lunch combinations for $19.95.
Set B: Mapo tofu bowl & original tsukemen, regular size. The mapo tofu was very saucy and the tofu silken and very soft. It was mostly sauce – a spicy, flavorful sauce that tasted like it had bean paste in it. It was too salty. The tofu was accompanied by steamed white rice, half a soft-boiled egg, and fresh scallions. I wouldn’t get it again because it was too salty. The tsukemen broth wasn’t as salty, but I didn’t love the fishy flavor or the super thin chashu. The thick noodles were cold and chewy. The broth was hot, so dipping did help warm the noodles. The five condiments (fish powder, seaweed, spicy, garlic, jalapeno) were good too (and unique). There was one fish cake slice, one sheet of seaweed, and some cold cooked spinach. The portion seemed generous and the broth had pieces of meat (smoked pork?)
The restaurant opened last year and has an authentic feel and authentic décor. It has an ocean theme. The paper menu has instructions for how to enjoy your tsukemen. Service was friendly. Complimentary ice water was served.

Housemade Dip Trio — A Quick and Easy Appetizer
Tumblr media
If you’re looking for a quick and easy appetizer, try preparing a tasty Housemade Dip Trio. In this article, you’ll find the ingredients and preparation details you need to make it. It’s the perfect dip to serve with any type of snack or main course. It’s sure to be a hit at any gathering!
Recipe for Housemade Dip Trio
A dip platter is a great way to serve a spread with many different ingredients. A housemade dip is always better for your palate than a store-bought variety. This recipe is great to serve with corn chips, crackers, and crusty mountain bread. It’s also a great way to use up leftover veggies. It’s also a great way to show off your culinary skills!
A delicious, healthy, and quick-to-make dip is one of my favorite appetizers. I love serving it as a holiday party appetizer or on game day. No matter the time of year, everyone will enjoy it! These dip recipes are easy to make with ingredients that you probably already have around the house.
A cool, creamy dip is a welcome change from a spicy one. It’s made with just a touch of lime and cilantro. To make it, squeeze the lime into a medium bowl and stir in sour cream, queso, and mayonnaise. You may also want to add some cumin or another seasoning to your liking. This dip can be made up to two days in advance.
Ingredients
Making your own dips is a great way to provide a healthier alternative to store-bought versions. It is also quick and easy to make. Not only can you make a variety of delicious dips, but you can also use them as a topping for salads or as a sauce for steamed vegetables. And the best part is that you can make them with items from around your home.
This cheesy dip is made with toasted walnuts, rich blue cheese, and sage. When served with fresh pears and bread, it makes a delicious appetizer. Its unique flavor is reminiscent of a Thai peanut sauce, and you can even update it by using homemade walnut butter instead of tahini.
One of the coolest dips is this one, with a hint of lime and cilantro. You can use lime juice to make it more refreshing. You can also add cumin to it if you’d like. You can make the dip up to 2 days in advance and refrigerate it.
Preparation
Housemade dips are a healthier alternative to store-bought versions. They are also easy to make and take only a few minutes. You can use them as a sauce on steamed vegetables or as a topping for salads. Most of the materials for homemade dips are easily available around the home.

oh yeah here's something i am very interested to know. what is your most ideal, most perfect low, middle, and high budget wedding meals? mine is low: breakfast food buffet (with a bagel bar if we're gonna splurge) with mimosas and a layered bundt wedding cake, middle: fettuccine aurora (with either grilled chicken or sauteed onions and mushrooms to choose from), side salad bar, and sundried tomato and pesto bruschetta with a small bar and a standard wedding cake, and high: either i choose my own full menu of saffron chicken/tandoori chicken with mint chutney, mussels in a white wine sauce, buttery herbed rice pilaf, roasted vegetables, locally foraged, seasonal slaw-style salad with all housemade dressings, spanakopita, garlic naan/crostinis with hummus, tzatziki, baba ganoush, spinach dip (not fancy but i want it), muhummara, crab dip, and every other dip known to mankind, tomato basil bisque or wild rice hungarian mushroom soup with oven fresh olive bread and herb butter, a (vodka soaked) watermelon/mint/feta fruit salad, rose water rice pudding with cinnamon, crushed pistachios, and orange slivers, a FULL bar (whatever you think of, it's there), and one of those wedding cakes that look like the most expensive chandelier in the world turned upside down lol. or instead of all that i just hire Gordon Ramsay and Mihály Csikszentmihályi to meet with me and have them conduct an interview where they psychoanalyze me then work together create for me the absolutely perfect wedding menu that i could possibly ever want.

Cookbook Market, 310 N Larchmont Blvd, Los Angeles (Larchmont), CA 90027
Tumblr media
I’ve been a fan of Cookbook Market for a long time, since before the Jon & Vinny acquisition and the opening of the Larchmont Village location. The market hasn’t changed noticeably since the acquisition.
The Larchmont Village location is by far the largest of the three, with lots of seating for indoor or outdoor dining (the other locations have no seating) and a café menu. It looks like it used to be a residential house.
You’ll find farm fresh produce, meat, fresh flowers, local and imported cheeses, natural wine & beer, snacks, ice cream, dairy, pantry items (beans, spices, oils, sauces), high quality bread from local bakeries like Bread Lounge and Bub & Grandma’s), housemade pastries (cookies, brownies, donuts, croissants), premade sandwiches, salads, dips, prepared foods (e.g., pot pies, guacamole, red onion jam), cold drinks, etc. They also sell cookbooks, candles, cutting boards, and things that would make nice gifts.
You can also order drinks (coffee and non-coffee drinks), soups, salads, plates (e.g., pastas, branzino, chicken paillard, skirt steak), and snacks.
I think what sets Cookbook Market apart is the food that they make themselves is excellent. All the sandwiches that I’ve tried have been fantastic – quality ingredients thoughtfully put together in flavorful ways.
My picks:
* Dayglow cold coffee ($6.50)

Vancouver Adventures, Vienna: Day 5
My mother volunteered herself for baby sitting duty, for which I was most definitely not needed, so I used the day to tackle a couple of hills. But before that started, I got a breakfast first: muesli!
Tumblr media
It was housemade by the hotel, but was basically just overnight oats. The toppings are vital for texture.
And then I went on the hunt for the library. More backstory: last time I was in Vienna, I tried to find two different libraries. One ended up being a museum wing of the national library, which was hosting a cool freemason exhibit. The second ended up being THE national library, which requires membership or something to get into, like the library of congress.
This time, I started with the Bibliothek im Rathaus. Which is supposedly inside the city hall building, but is utterly un-navigable. I gave up. BUT the adventure led me to some fun discoveries.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These fountain and benches were found just a little ways through a park beside city hall. Were it any sunnier, I would have sat and enjoyed it a while.
As it was, it was cold and windy, so I took refuge at Cafe Landtmann's. And boy was that ever a good choice! I got an eisschokolade, and a lemon-elderflower cake.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The eisschoko was the perfect thing after my long walk, and while the cake was a little crusty like it had been sitting out too long, it was light and refreshing. I took my time to sit and read, which was really nice.
After that, I tackled library option #2. And guess what?
I fucking found it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So it ended up being a modern library and not the towering stacks amid gothic architecture that I wanted. But it was like coming home. I'd take this over that stuffy old books store any day.
I planted my butt at a table and wrote for more than five hours. I reworked my writing group submission to the point of completion (for now), which currently sits at about 11k. Definitely an accomplishment.
And then I trammed home. It was a different route than I've ever taken so far, but it led me to one of the prettiest streets in Vienna.
Tumblr media
We got McD's for dinner, because most other quick restaurants and stands were starting to shut down. Some notes for my Americans: some locations almost feel like actual fine dining. They put a kind of slaw on their burgers. They sell fried cheese with red currant dipping sauce. They have fancier burgers and sauces.
The fries are the same.
I also got a slice of cake from their cafe bc wtf I was not going to miss out. (It's currently sitting in my hotel fridge bc I got too full.)
It was a day of relaxation and solo drifting around the city, and as much as I love my mom and seeing her excitement at everything here-- there's something to be said being able to stretch your legs and walk at your own pace.
