Mary was panicking slightly, her chest rising quickly then taking a while to fall since she was still worried. Her life was being stripped away from her and she had to sit there and watch as the prince who she knew did not care for her. Mary’s hand tightened on his arm before sighing she turned her back to him as the maester instructed him to cover her with his house colors.

“You don’t have to do this…. I know you don’t care for me….” She whispered

Mary looked to the prince with a small smile on her face before humming as he kissed her before slowly pulling away and whispering to him.

“I’m very sorry if I offended you my pr…… husband.” She gulps

What he did not know was she had been confused and tormented by his mother, confused why their family would even pick her. She had insisted that she had a secret relationship even though Mary had no such thing. Sighing she held onto his hands gently before gently kissing his cheek once more.

“I’m sorry that I haven’t spoken to you recently, my family kept me busy with preparations for our wedding.”

Mary nervously stood in her wedding gown at the end of the aisle in the red keep, her father held her arm as he began to walk her towards her soon to be husband. Aemond and had spent time together but they were not what she would consider in love, barely even acquaintances. And now she had to marry him even when she truly nothing about him. The only thing this would bring her is the title of princess would be bestowed on her after they’d been married.

The train of her dress trailed behind her as she walked before they arrived to the end of the aisle right in front of Aemond. Her father carefully placed her arm on Aemond’s before bowing to his prince. The young blonde nervously looked to Aemond before taking a deep breath and looking to the maester with a look of contempt in her eyes.

Aemond Targaryen stood tall. His hair, usually kept from his face by a small gathering at the back of his head, had been braided and intertwined with shimmering golden pearls. He was dressed in fine clothes which looked much softer than the usual leather he wore. The patch across his missing eye seemed nicer as well, small details adorning the seams.

Aemond's hands were gathered behind his back as she walked to him and only when she reached him did he offer his arm to her. It was difficult to read his expression, though he looked soft. Like a man who had at least accepted his fate, something he was displeased to see that it seemed she had not. The glare on her face did very little to ease the Prince's self-loathing and physical insecurities, but like always, he swallowed this pain and nodded to the Maester who started the ceremony.

Aemond felt heavy hearted and undesirable. Even his title as Prince did little to make up for his disfigurement or for the fact that he was only second. He hated this feeling of never being enough...

He smiled softly at his bride and kissed her gently when tradition called for it. No one watched would be able to tell how desperately lost and inadequate he felt at that moment.
