When I first found out that Rellana existed and that she worked for Messmer, I assumed she'd betrayed her family during the early conquest and run off with Messmer, and it must have been very dramatic and tragic and maybe she killed her/Rennala/Renna's parents, who knows?

But after learning that Messmer stuck around long enough to make friends with Radahn, it's entirely likely that Rellana fell in love with him during Radagon's peace prior to the Big Divorce. There would have been absolutely nothing eyebrow-raising about their relationship until Marika and Radagon made everything awkward for everyone by marrying each other (themselves?).

Radagon: Lana, he's your step-nephew! Rellana: And you're a cheating bastard, what's your point?
