#star wars#the original trilogy#boba fett#darth vader#hi. sorry for star war jumpscare. genuinely#i feel like ive kinda been on an art hiatus lately due to health stuff#i got diagnosed with a parathyroid disease recently (wahoo) so now i know why i have been feeling so bad! need more tests though#anyway. in the mean time most of the entertainment my brain can handle has been like. youtube clip compilations of shows and movies#not even the actual shows or movies. literally just sections of them on youtube#i wish i was joking#the only reason i know what happens in succession is because i have watched it in disjointed order in youtube compilations. not joking#anyway so ive learned a lot more about star wars than i ever. thought i would#mostly just the original trilogy and prequels. some of the old comics & books are interesting too#(sick to my stomach) i like darth vader he has like the same personality as ganondorf except he had no good reason for doing anything#when vader/anakin does literally anything weird or unacceptable it like. makes me laugh so hard its like jerma when he sees a car accident#boba fett’s costume design has been rotating in my head a lot too it’s very good#he’s very colorful and like. matte/unpolished compared to vader and it makes them a cool duo visually#those 2 are my favorites. vader why is the space cowboy the only person aside from sidious or tarkin who is allowed to get mad at you#sidious is my 3rd favorite. he sucks so bad as like a person that you just. you have no expectations of him except just being evil#so its just really funny like everything he does is horrible and he’s so happy all the time like good for him#i’m making it sound like ive never seen star wars before. i have i just never really cared about it until i got an endocrine disorder lmao#but yeah idk art may continue to be slow while im figuring out treatment stuff#if anyone reading this also has or has had hyperparathyroidism im wishing the strength & radiance of 1000 beautiful horses upon you

Instagram just served me a Netflix ad of a movie based on the book Uglies by Scott Westerfeld, which I've been obsessed with since middle school and I'm both so excited and already curbing my enthusiasm a little because based on the trailer, they did the lightest amount of commitment to the whole thing where the transformation is actually...transformational. Like they literally decided to go from "no makeup" makeup to high glam as the transformation. Instead of going with no makeup and shitty lighting. We know from the Derry Girls that TV is capable of aging people down and making them look immature & emphasize their least cute features, and then we see those same actors/actresses on the red carpet and they literally look like an alternate universe version of themselves.
I feel like they could've really played with the meta narrative of how much we literally transform people to get to a certain level/phase of growth/society, and also the slight bimboification effect that we're obviously also watching both happen and the resistance to it happen? Just a flattening of the conversation to entertainment and satisfaction and lightness. And also how prettiness is literally in the eye of the camera/beholder, by playing with that more. Showing the "real world" perhaps even with a completely different color palette than the Pretty moments. But instead they chose to prioritize the presentation/appearance of pretty culture, which is kind of the whole thing the book is trying to critique.
I'm still gonna watch this because I'm obsessed with the books and committed but also I'm braced for disappointment :/ because if they can't even that that part right (the visual interpretation), I'm not convinced they are gonna get the deeper themes and things I loved about the book series right either.
Also as I was writing this up I looked up the YouTube trailer and the comment section is basically this and versions of this so ... Possibly this is either the correct take or the absolute wrong one, I guess I'll find out

I think the line between representing gnc women in the past and interpreting the NLOG trope as applying to any gnc woman in fiction is difficult to chart—I don’t deny that authors do this, but the thing is that real historical women did feel like this for very legitimate reasons, even if they come off as condescending today (I’d be pissed too if I was told I Had to wear skirts and corsets, and I am someone who personally really enjoys wearing skirts and corsets). Representing women who did not conform to gender norms on various different ways is important, and I don’t think Cox’s critique of any of her chosen movies/shows is particularly convincing in part because she does not acknowledge this at all—and while not every YouTube video essay has to be all things to all people, this is a touchy topic and some effort on her part would’ve been really appreciated, because it very much comes off as “gnc women make me uncomfortable” more than anything else.
See, I really don't get where the whole "she doesn't talk about real GNC women!!" thing comes from
because I am literally watching the video right now and, direct quote, "while rejecting traditional gender norms of their era happened, that doesn't mean it can only be expressed in the rejection of distinctly feminine articles of clothing..."
"And while I'm not saying there's anything wrong with breaking gender norms in historical dramas...Gentleman Jack is a good example of this...I'm frustrated with the reliance on 'Girly Bad! Boy Good!' clothing defaults...without what seems to be a second thought on how problematic it can actually be."
"The idea of creating the bloomers and the trousers could have come from this very genuine place of like 'I want...to be able to run...without having to deal with all these skirts around my legs.' And that is fair..."
and the big part, prefacing AN ENTIRE SECTION OF THE VIDEO: "Now, all that being said, I want to acknowledge the historic reality of women who did dress in masculine clothing." She actually goes further than I would in using they/them pronouns for George Sand (I have a "pronouns they used in life" policy, personally), and discusses in detail some examples of women who presented masculine at various times, for various reasons. She also gets in-depth about Gentleman Jack, and why the show was more authentic to Anne Lister's life (as a distinctly butch woman in the 1830s) for showing her having to bend slightly to accepted feminine modes of dress rather than just...sticking her in anachronistic pants all the time.
I don't think the video is perfect- it's clear what presentation Abby herself prefers, and thus she can sometimes muddy her own message. For example, to me it's clear that she's not saying it would be BAD for a suffragist character to be GNC, but it would be UNREALISTIC due to the emphasis the actual suffrage movement had to place on conventionally feminine attire to avoid distracting the press from their own message. But I can see how it might come off as "feminine suffragist character good, masc suffragist character bad" to someone with less baseline knowledge of the speaker's general views.
(It could also be hard to get that she's not decrying the rejection of feminine attire wholesale in criticizing Anne W*th an E, but rather saying that it's unfaithful to the character as originally written. Also she could have been clearer that the issue with Miss Stacy is that she would be INSTA-FIRED if, as a small-town teacher in the 1890s, she showed up to a town hall meeting in trousers. Like. I cannot overstate how fired she would get from any position overseeing children's education, as an outsider and not even an "accepted local eccentric," in a backwater like Avonlea.)
In short, while it has its issues, I don't really see that it's as horrible and prescriptivist a video as everyone makes it out to be. But you're entitled to your opinions, just as I am to mine.

Thank you so much for responding to my ask, I found myself nodding my head in agreement to every point you made. I still feel bad for those who continue to overlook Rocket, but yeah, it doesn't really matter. Would love to hear those Loki thoughts as well if you don't mind!
ahh, i’m so glad to hear my five-thousand-page rant made sense and resonated with you! i also feel bad for those who overlook rocket. they truly don’t know what they’re missing.
so my thoughts on loki (below) are ALL over the place. i guess i’ll rant a little about the mcu and then talk about how i view loki in terms of character complexity, and then rant a lil more before i get really sappy. ready? ready.
i’m gonna go ahead and double-down on what i said about the mcu as a whole, and how much we need stories told by writers who love the characters they’re writing for. i think loki in the movies is a good example of a character who had, like, signposts of complexity and development with no actual exploration. we would see his behavior shift at critical moments, and we could interpret change and growth, but we never got to spend enough time with him to really see his thoughts and feelings and motivations. fanfic writers have done more to establish loki as a character with depth than the movies ever did. (hire them, disney!)
to be fair, those were thor’s movies, i suppose. but the dynamic of the movies really relied on this sibling relationship, while only really exploring one sibling’s perspective. like, how do you base a whole section of a franchise on two characters, but treat one as a person and the other as a prop?
then we move into the show.
honestly, i fuckin loved the show. i know you described it as loki getting to speedrun his redemption arc in a youtube video (a description which made me giggle btw), but i personally never thought of it that way. i never thought of loki as really learning anything from that montage of his other self’s life — except, perhaps, that being a better person and having a real relationship with his brother was possible. i always thought of that scene as just a slap in the face to get him to start paying attention.
what unfolds over the following two seasons is, imo, where all his growth happens. still begrudging at first — still eager to double-cross the people holding him captive (no shade; they didn’t deserve his loyalty). ready to use his variant to accomplish his goals. we get to see him start to develop empathy by literally reflecting on himself (hi sophie), and we get to watch that empathy spread — slowly, but surely. (so slowly, by the way. that sequence at the end where he spends a million years watching his friends unravel again and again and again and again and again and again and again? like, the audience may have gotten to speedrun that — but there’s no reason to think he did). by the time loki does what he thinks is the right thing — “for all of us” — it’s incredibly believable to me. whereas in the movies, it often felt like a cointoss — tails i save an orphan and heads, i act like a little shit — this decision to preserve self-determination seems deliberate and conscious and effortful. and he now considers himself part of the universe instead of superior to or separate from it. for all of us.
so. what do i think about the complexity of loki’s character? i think he is very complex and developed, and that his character growth is shared just as masterfully as rocket’s, but — i think this is exclusively because of the tv show.
and i think, again, that this is because the writers of loki loved him. like gunn did with rocket, they held the character of loki very tenderly, found all the places that made him mean, and asked, but why? and what does healing look like for you? and how do we make that happen?
and you know, even though rocket and loki are very different, and their stories “end” in very distinct ways, i think it’s fascinating that so many of the stories we find that have been told with love also include love as a central tenet. i think it’s just so beautiful that when we recognize a character as fundamentally good but deeply wounded, we so often want to reshape their universes to be exactly what they need to make them feel whole and seen and unbroken. we want to give them found families and community and connection, because having those things is always better than not, even if that means you have to be trapped in a tree for the rest of eternity.
i dunno, i just think people overall are really loving, and at their core, they want to put more love in the world. and i think loki (the show) and guardians (the movies) are perfect examples of people actually doing that.
blah blah blah, hire writers who love the characters.
⋆ ˚。⋆˚⸜(♡ ॑ᗜ ॑♡)⸝ ˚⋆。˚ ⋆
thanks for inspiring this rant lol sorrryyyy

bro im a german drawn together fan, we have access to all three seasons of the show on youtube and the german fanbase are a bunch of NPCS its so fucking annoying, people literally only watch this show because its edgy, not because of the characters, not even caring about the subject matter of what happens plot wise, the references, nah thats it bro, the comments are “i love it bc its so raw and controvrsial 😂😂😂” low ass standards i tell ya, i hate the comment section its EUGH, otherwise they just talk about how much nostalgia this brings them, thats it, nothing else, only two types of comments, oh also “omg this show was too edgy this is why they stopped producing it, people are sensitive nowadays :(” thats not why they stopped the prodction but ok boomer, do your research ffs
in this show u also kinda have to know a bit about american culture and other stuff, so maybe it CAN be confusing for non americans
im so glad i learned english at this point because the english speaking audience seems to give at least one FUCK, there is actual videos discussing what jokes worked in the show, what happend behind the scenes, criticism etc, thats what i wanna do too, not this crap, im actualy sharing some thoughts here, i mean, nobody has heard of betty boop here, nobody gets what toot is based of, after hearing and understanding why tara strong gave toot this baby voice in the original (because betty has that shtick too) i was never able to go back to the dub i was introduced to first, german toot sounds like a angry old woman
i have seen the movie btw, it was never dubbed here and i ordered the dvd from the UK, the german audience isnt even aware that the movie exists i believe, yes the movie is ass but i still wish they were sorta aware? i dont think anyone even knows that there is a uncut version of the show, i have it on dvd too, but they only dubbed the tv version so its odd how they tried to squeeze in the uncut scenes but some stuff was still left out because it wasnt DUBBED
last thing is that im not obsessed with the edgy jokes or controverse topics, i like the really goofy scenes like where toot pushes clara down the stairs in the m. c escher room, its so stupid but thats my humor LMAO, thats one of many examples, but i also just like the concept alot and the characters as a whole, the only adult cartoon show i sorta care about

I hunger for even more Coco Last.
How did they react when Baxter went NC at the end of step 3?
You are literally my favourite person. <3 Small trigger warning far a reference of disordered eating in paragraph 4 (not including this little blurb, I put an asterisk before and after it), you can just skip that one if you want.
So Coco knew Baxter wasn't up for staying dating and they accepted that. Like full on just let him go wishing him the best. They have way too much pride to ask someone for something not freely offered. (If anything he should have bagged them to keep in contact). They didn't so much as ask to be friends or send him a single message. They are a big fan of the ephemeral, the temporary, un repeatable, beautiful experiences. To them Baxter was ephemeral, a show that would go on forever changed, but never to return. It was wonderful and painful.
This doesn't mean they weren't in love with him, but they're of the mind that it was their decision that hurt them. They are the ones to blame for their pain because they agreed to temporary knowing full well they'd love him forever actually. There were lots of tearful performances of "Wildest Dreams" by Taylor Swift, "I knew you were trouble" (also Taylor Swift), and even "Enchanted" (They're a Swiftie) on the hill behind their house. They had outfits (plural) mimicking every look from those songs music videos. They would sing, dance, and cry (like the artsy crying where tears run down their cheeks but their makeup stays perfect and their face serene) while playing guitar for the instrumentals. Eventually after all their family and friends beg them to add another song in the rotation, they add "Teardrops on my guitar" (still Taylor) to the performance rotation.
Of course, they didn't let any of this slow their career. They live and breathe for performance, they were always doing at least one show/movie. They also posted several original songs on YouTube (that they gave the rights for to Lee after their acting career became lucrative). Their original song videos also had them singing dancing, playing the guitar, and changing outfits at least three times. They were always working and performing, they even went on tour at one point.
*Unfortunately, this was unsustainable. They frequently forgot to eat and became dangerously underweight. To the point that shopping in the kids section still meant baggy clothes. It was not being big enough to fit their favourite designer's new dress (that was made specifically for their second Oscar appearance based on measurements from their first apperance) that made Coco begin the arduous process of working to eat regularly again. It made them feel really ugly, and even looking at food was too much for them at points. They were really lucky that Cove was living with them, because while their family supported them mentally, Cove was there physically. (Jude and Scott, were the best at maintaining regular contact considering their experience with long distance dating). He learned to cook to help them. And when looking at food made them cry and puke (this frequently happened after they gained the courage to start baking again, they don't know when they stopped), Cove was happy to make the food disappear (after helping them recover a bit and being sent away). When Baxter finds out about all this after they start dating again, he totally tries to blame himself and Coco shuts that down with a vengeance. Reasons their schedule out so well Baxter is both impressed and afraid for them. He asks what he can do to help and Coco jokes it's good he got better at cooking.. Jokes on them, the food is so good they gain 15 pounds within three months of dating him.*
By the time they meet Baxter again at 25 for Jude and Scott's wedding. They are two years recovered from all of that (It definitely had nothing to do with Baxter and everything to do with their insatiable hunger to be a star). They are happy, but they still love Baxter. They think the wedding could not be in better hands. Once Coco finds out Baxter still cares them (at Xake, the bakery), they decide not to let him go. (Their impatience also wins out and they confess after the wedding clean up). Also, they totally quote one of the songs they wrote about Baxter in their confession (before they ask him out using his words minus the temporary stuff).
Baxter was also their first crush, first (and only) kiss, first (and only) ex, so they love to flex how they are dating their first crush. And sometimes joke about how their ex regretted breaking up so badly he agreed to date them again because they are the best (Baxter can't disagree). Coco also had a reputation in Hollywood for being a prude because of all the rumors about them rejecting people (the rumors are true) except they are free with their affections for Baxter so everyone's like ???. And also jealous, Coco loves making people jealous with their handsome boyfriend, consequently there are many videos released with the two dancing.

Squidbillies #20: “Rebel with a Claus” | December 25, 2006 – 12:00AM | S02E14
In this one, Early shoots down Santa Claus. His crime? Not giving Early the present he asks for every Christmas (the still-beating heart of Nascar racer Jeff Gordon). He and Rusty have him tied up in a chair. They kill and skin his reindeer and torture Santa. The elves try to rescue him but they also get brutalized. And that’s basically the one joke of this one: Santa is viciously brutalized by the Cuyler’s. It might as well be an episode of Happy Tree Friends.
I really hate this one and find it mostly unfunny. The main joke is not just the violence, but also mocking movie/crime show tropes. The Elves here are shown having tactical gear, and operate as a militarized unit on Santa’s behalf. That’s a fun choice, but none of it makes me laugh. I also appreciate Dave Willis’ performance as Santa. He is the official Santa of Adult Swim, as far as I’m concerned (eagle-eyed viewers will remember that he played Santa in Aqua Teen Hunger Force and, I believe, Space Ghost Coast to Coast! Maybe other places!). It also evokes horror movies like Saw, or Last House on the Left, portraying both Early and Rusty as being unrepentant, dangerously violent hillbillies. I guess that makes this episode conceptual. It doesn’t make it funny. I don’t know, it just doesn’t suit this show too well, despite the fact that unpleasant humor is sorta this show’s bread and butter. My least favorite episode so far.
That’s it for Squidbillies for now! Isn’t that nice??
ANNOUNCEMENT! PLEASE READ!
For various reasons, I’ve decided to postpone Space Ghost week, ever-so-slightly. Longtime readers (all six of you), know that I’ve adopted the custom of taking a break from Adult Swim when I complete a calendar year so I can tackle a different season Space Ghost Coast to Coast. But I’m going to wait until we get through January of 2007 before I do Space Ghost week. That’s because...
1. I could use a little time to catch-up on creating a backlog of posts that will make the task easier, and I’m in the middle of a holiday weekend as of this writing and might actually be able to. I couldn’t do this in time because of various calamities.
2. Technically speaking, the final episode of the 1997 season of Space Ghost aired in January of 1998 (January 1, to be exact), so why not mirror that as well?
3. If I go through January, I will complete the rest of the runs for all the current shows we are covering, and come February Adult Swim will be refreshed with new premieres of new shows and feel more like a new beginning than an interruption.
Three good reasons! Well, one good reason, the other two are symptoms of some sort of brain problem. But still, they had numbers next to them. You have to admit that.
EPHEMERA CORNER

End-of-the-year Marathons (December 25-31, 2006)
At the end of 2006, Adult Swim ran several marathons several nights in a row. Until the end of the year, as a matter-of-fact. They were:
December 25: The Venture Bros December 26: The Boondocks December 27: Robot Chicken December 28: Squidbillies December 30: Bleach December 31: Metalocalypse For these nights they forewent their usual custom of airing the block and repeating it again, in order to show more episodes of shows. In Squidbillies and Metalocalypse’s case they partially repeated some episodes, but the desired effect was to have the entire series up to that point air in a row. I remember recording these and making DVDs from them. It was very handy at the time!
MAIL BAG
lisa lisa mailbagger here: lol I was literally referencing that complication album hit, I tried looking for it on youtube but had no success. A lot of those albums even if they were 80s themed had such ambiguous names it makes them impossible to search. If only discogs had a section for those collections.
Oh WOW. Yeah, I remember discogs had a thing where you could search for songs to see what releases it appeared on, but that was in beta and I think they removed it for being bad. I have a strong suspicion that those commercials turned up a lot on MTV. Just download some Beavis and Butt-head Moron-a-thons and go through ‘em.
mattpanreblogsstuff writes:
The fact that in the DOOM bumps you can see an ornament of Bloo (from CN's Foster's) in the corner while DOOM is getting completely wasted. Godly combo.
I never notice that! I remember watching these bumps at least a couple times and admittedly didn’t rewatch them when I posted that video. Also I didn’t really watch Foster’s Home that much, but what little I saw was great, and I should probably watch it.

I don't usually watch the Marvel short series or whatever but I was hoping for some crumbs from S2E1 since it's literally "What if Nebula joined the Nova Corps".
Positive and negative notes below! Also spoilers, duh.
This is like, stupid long. Probably longer than the video itself. It kinda makes me want to come back and write a proper essay
Author disclaimers/context: I'm a Nova girly. Duh. Love comics. Have bad memory. Have not watched every MCU thing but have a lot of vibes about it.
I really enjoyed the color...ing? color grading? whatever fancy word is used for the colors of a film. A lot of nice compositions as well. I'm glad there were a lot of visually bright moments.
I generally like the style of What if but the animation/rigging itself is... not great. It's definitely a little chunky. I'm not looking for like, feature film levels but maybe a bit more than 3D animation youtubers.
Plot wise, I understand what they were going for but it doesn't really build well in short format. The ambiance was there but literally "corrupt police chief" is soooo overdone. Also like Howard the Duck and Groot were fun to see but am I supposed to know the other guy? Or like Korg?
I legitimately had to rewind the section where she gets uhhh apparently some Captain Marvel dude? out because his name is goofy and I wasn't sure if I was supposed to recognize him earlier. The end bit where he's next to the other Nova Officer is so funny because its just. Two white dudes next to each other that are nearly identical.
Tumblr media
Euch okay not a shining example of the art style. It's okay generally I promise.
On that note, the total lack of uniqueness in the Nova Corps was boring like is this the Nova rapture (vol 4)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like okay not totally perfect examples but at the very least I feel like it's important to emphasize that the Nova Corps are an intergalactic thing and not like, Humans+. They show some other alien races on Xandar itself but all of the Corpsmen just look like humans.
I mean, on the whole the Nova Corps aren't fleshed out which is fine since we don't have a Nova focused thingy yet but I feel like the MCU on the whole misses iconic things in favor of just omitting details that they can't handhold. Nothing about Worldmind, the Nova Force or anything. In general they just aren't setting up any MCU folks to root for them at all. Like imagine a Ko Rel cameo in the scene where Nebula is getting beat up by a bunch of unpowered by virtue of lack of explanation dudes and Ko Rel has some compassion and helps her out. Imagine knowing anything about the Nova Corps beyond "space cops".
On the hand holding, I get that some of the over explain-y-ness is a bit eg. *shield closes in on a ship with big explosions* "the shields are closing on the ships!!" but like all of the writing is just. So much. I probably could've listened to the whole thing like a radio play.
A lot of the writing felt like it was trying to be self aware eg. *wow person breaking into something talks to lock* "why are you talking to the lock it doesn't even have actual mechanisms" which is at least a fun Nebula line but it felt even more cliche. I probably could've guessed how most of the lines in the movie were going to go. Also everything with the comic relief group. I like Howard the Duck calling Nebula 'Nebby' but every bit in the casino/bar was unfunny and boring. Why is Korg here aside from the Rock, Paper, Scissors joke.
God the stupid "aren't you a big deal baddie?" bit was so long and painful. ugh. made worse by the fact I haven't seen Captain Marvel.
Anyway. After making an essay longer than the episode itself. Sandwich time. More good uh I don't like Nebula because of how far removed she is from her comic self but hey. It works and I actually quite liked her. Space cop cars were cool. They included one Hala star which satisfied my curiosity of "how are they gunna look near the nova stars".
Wow I should like, make essays proper instead of going full stream of consciousness on everyone's ass. Maybe if I did video essays I could give you a consolation prize for getting this far from one of my sponsors. I really didn't mean for this to get this long I just started having feelings

So, I take it you read jjk manga?
Just now I randomly came across a big manga spoiler in a youtube comment section re. Nanami.
I'm fcking devastated rn.
If you know - you know.
Where's Gojo when you need him??
I guess there's no choice but to read the manga if I don't want to spoil the whole plot before I have a chance to watch it unfold in anime.
Also, I know you love Geto, but I BLAME HIM. It's kinda ironic, in s2 Gojo was ready to massacre a whole bunch of people at one point, and Geto was the one to stop him then only to later become insane himself. Now idc, I just want Gojo to go absolutely berserk and take all these mf's heads off. Why Nanami, whyyy 😭
One more thing... You said Geto is like Eren, but in my opinion they are nothing alike. In jjk 0 (the movie) Geto behaves like a complete psycho showing no regard for human life. He enjoys torturing and killing people, he doesn't care. "Monkeys" he calls them. Eren is not like that, he's not crazy, he knows what he does is wrong and it kills him, but he is forced to do it anyway. I think that's why I can't really sympathize with Geto... He is almost as despicable as Mahito. No remorse. At least that is how he is portrayed in anime. And to add to all of this he broke Gojo's heart, because he was his one and only best friend. Even Geto's visual design went downhill after he lost his mind. I dunno, I guess I'm just mad and sad because of that spoiler that I read 😔
i actually haven't read the manga!! but, before getting into jjk, i accidentally found myself on jjk twitter (i guess i liked a bunch of fanart or something? idk) and so i've seen all of the major spoilers 😭 even up to now, i know what's going on with the major characters.
so! i know exactly what you're talking about.
i remember you saying that you've read the aot manga, but if i'm remembering incorrectly and you don't wanna get spoiled, let me know and i'll delete what i said about in here!
some jjk 0 spoilers & aot manga spoilers below
it's been a bit since i've seen jjk 0, but from what i can remember, geto doesn't kill any sorcerers, which aligns with his vision of how he wants the world to be. yes, he tries to kill yuuta, but for him, it's a necessary evil to help further his plans.
i still think geto and eren are similar at their core, but their biggest difference is how they "cope" with their decision.
geto dehumanizes non-sorcerers by calling them monkeys so that it's easier for him to wipe them out. whereas eren is emotionally destroyed by what he has to do and has remorse and guilt for his actions... but they're both still doing it for kind of the same reason?
eren is trying to kill all non-eldians because he's trying to save his friends from unnecessary death. after he sees life outside the wall, he's upset that the world allowed eldians to live with such death and horror for so long without doing anything about it.
kinda the same thing w geto. after failing the mission to save riko and then haibara dying and then finding the twins locked up.... he's literally bombarded with proof that non-sorcerers don't care about sorcerers and, in fact, non-sorcerers and their leaking cursed energy is the REASON WHY ALL OF HIS FRIENDS ARE DYING!! so he wants to kill them to save his friends
(also, geto's cursed technique of swallowing curses after exorcising them is just another form of a sacrifice made for ungrateful ppl, so it's an ongoing, painful reminder of that for geto each time he swallows a curse)
geto and gojo's morality flip is also really interesting to me. like you said, how gojo wanted to massacre all those people but geto said no. after that day, gojo works hard to become the strongest so that he doesn't fail (riko dying) like that again. where geto struggles to find meaning behind why he's a jujutsu sorcerer when non-sorcerers have such little regard for him/his friends' life (ie. the star alliance group ppl clapping when they saw riko dead).
i think that had gojo not been so focused on becoming the strongest, he probably would've been there for geto during his morality crisis. maybe gojo would've been able to save geto from "turning evil".... but also maybe geto would've "turned" gojo after talking with yuki. it's an interesting what if scenario.
also there are some things that happen in the manga that i think might change your perception of geto.
sorry if this is incoherent, this is mostly just key smashing all my geto/eren (mostly geto) thoughts ty for the opportunity to gush about my one of my favourite characters

People think season 6 is homophobic because marina arent in a happy place? Come on every couple goes through stuff even queer ones believe it or not lol. I actually love the more darker storylines and the actresses have done brilliantly so I've loved Maya's mental health arc
oh honey just go to the comment section of any new marina video on youtube, it is absurd.
personally i think this is a result of ppl relating queer media to a genre in and of itself, rather than you know, just an addition to a movie/show genre, like u know romcom, drama, fantasy, period pieces, and so on.
i get that queer rep is lacking but for instance watching a drama show when you clearly don’t enjoy drama, demand for a drama show to not be ehm dramatic(?), and screaming homophobia when the wlw ship isnt happy(?) on a drama(?) show, is really not fun for anyone involved.
i’ve had people tell me that marina ‘never had a moment of happiness’ and that ‘even for shondaland standards they are clearly mistreated’ but tbh id argue the opposite. since the end of s3 all of their ‘drama’ always ends up strengthening their relationship and is very short lived compared to their happy moments. never once do you genuinely doubt their love or that they may not make it out of it together, as a couple. the show does not even give the audience the opportunity to go there bc their ‘issues’ are usually solved within one or two episodes. s5, as irritating as certain storylines were written at points, is literally just them being happy. s6 is actually the first time that they gave marina capital d DRAMA. it is not immediately solved, it goes on for longer than the usual two ep, it is still a drama that is strengthening their relationship in the long run, but the audience for the first time is sitting at the edge of their sit wondering IF they’re gonna make it out together.
lastly im not even gonna talk about greys couples drama but literally on station 19 they killed off ryan one random thursday at 9pm for no reason and that was it for the andyxryan truthers so you know they can do drama…

Reviewing all the TMNT movies
I've had a ton of free time and decided it'd be fun to watch and review a bunch of stuff. So I did, except I underestimated the amount of content and now I have to break it down into categories. Why I thought I could watch 8 movies, 5 series, and 3 crossovers in a week I don't know but here we are. Please keep in mind this is my opinion so you might not agree! This is listed in order of when I watched them NOT ranking I'm gonna do that later after I finish the tv shows.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles(1990)
MMM a classic I remember first getting this DVD, my mom let me get it out of the $10 bin at the beach because I had lost a tooth. I didn’t remember much about the plot at all so it was like watching a new movie and man did I enjoy it. This was a great movie and one that held up pretty well. I liked the characters, the villain, the plot, and ofc the iconic farmhouse scene we get with just about every series. I even liked the character design surprisingly enough.
Some scenes felt weird, a couple of jokes felt off, and Splinter was literally the most terrifying thing I’ve ever seen. He looks like a drowned chihuahua. The swearing was written as though the writer's mom never let them curse and they were pretending to be 25 in the youtube comment section or something, but It was great and honestly a pleasant surprise in the wake of all my childhood favorites being ruined by just how bad they were and the end credits song? Iconic. 8/10 will be watching again. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ll: The Secret of the Ooze(1991)
This movie is… good. It’s not a bad movie but it’s more goofs and gags-focused. It got a couple of laughs out of me but it felt somehow too long and also rushed. I’m pretty sure I got Leo and Donnie mixed up 207 times, I could almost never tell who was talking despite having the subtitles on, the villains were the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen, and I’m still not 100% sure who the science guy is exactly and whether he’s good or bad. In conclusion, I’m now eating a pizza. 6/10 might watch again
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles lll(1993)
Well, this is certainly a movie. I don’t even really know what to say, I couldn’t root for Kenshin or even Mitsu and well the turtles are really really ugly. It was funny but I’m not sure if it was a “so bad it's funny” or actually funny. No one was very well fleshed out, the villain was Idk tbh, I don’t feel particularly satisfied, and the “we wanna stay here” thing at the end and then them all suddenly going “no we’ll go home ig” was kinda weird and probably only got put in for screen time. 4/10 I don’t believe I’ll be watching this again. I will, however, be crying bc I am in fact lactose intolerant and that pizza was not worth it. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles(2014)
Man, I remember going to watch this movie in theaters like it was yesterday. Ignore my nostalgia rant but my dad sucks and never did anything with me so these were the only movies he ever went and watched in theaters, no matter how bad it was that made them infinitely better. I used to watch this movie like every night when I went to sleep so hearing this stupid music was so nostalgic, I adored this movie as a kid and I was almost scared to rewatch it without my rose-tinted glasses.
I have super mixed feelings about this movie, my expectations were so low it actually surprised me. The villains were honestly bad, not much screen time, the foot soldiers just straight up looked bad, I don’t know a lot about Sacks but somehow less about Shredder, Karai looks like she’s going through her 2010 emo phase, Splinter looks like what I can only imagine my cat would if I gave in to the urge to only shave the top of his head and arms, the turtles themselves are ugly, and their backstories mediocre. I could keep going but I did like the way the turtles interacted with each other. It had its funny moments, the soundtrack was good, and I actually quite liked Donnie. In conclusion 6/10 it wasn’t the best but it’s enjoyable and I’d watch it again. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows(2016)
Right, so I hate this movie. I can’t explain it, I've always disliked this movie. I tried super hard to watch it and literally fell asleep. It’s boring, I’m not a huge fan of how they interacted, Bebop and Rocksteady were mid although mildly enjoyable, shredder was once again a blank page, and Kraang just lowkey annoyed me. He was super gross and looked like that one transformer but pink and slimy.
The turtles little “I wanna be human” thing was mediocre and I felt like they just added it on for screentime. Casey was super unmemorable, Baxter was also kinda boring, Karai might as well have not been in the movie at all, and a lot of the jokes fell flat for me. On a more positive note, I liked the trash truck. What sucks is I really wanna like this movie bc we get a lot of characters from the original but it's so boring. 2/10 am going to burn the disk. TMNT(2007)
I was not looking forward to this movie, but surprisingly enough I liked it. I’m sad Mikey and Donnie got barely any screen time but Raph was cool. I liked Karai even though we didn’t see much of her, and the ending left me feeling pretty satisfied. The turtles were once again ugly, Splinter looked like that one macaroni noodle I lost under the fridge, and the villain was just ok. I am however a pretty big fan of the minor character development we get to see.
I’ve watched this movie probably like 4 times now, although it’s been a very long time, and the first time I watched this movie I loved it, the second it was ok, and the 3rd I kinda hated it. I basically got to come back with a fresh start and it was good, I noticed little plot points I didn’t before, debated whether I hated this Splinter or not 27 times, and realized Chris Evans voices Casey. This is a good movie. It’s cute, at times funny, and just genuinely a good watch for kids. 6.5/10 Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles(2019)
You know I quite liked this movie. I liked the art style and all the turtles a lot?! Unlike the 2007 movie, I didn’t feel like a single character had a ton more screen time than the others and Leo had good character development! I’m also a dc fan so seeing Damian acting a bit more like a kid was great.
It’s a fun movie and they found a pretty good balance between funny and serious. I’m not 100% why Ra’s wanted to mutate all of Gotham tbh so that was kinda weird and there were some weird tone shifts with the random graphic murder. At one point Leo yelled at Raph because he could have killed these people and then I watched Donnie kill a man with a manhole cover, but Splinter finally wasn’t the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen although he also wasn’t in this movie. Overall I’d give this a 7/10. It wasn’t the best thing I’ve ever seen but it was good, I’m also craving pizza again but I’m still recovering from last time so I think I’d rather eat moldy bread. I'll be adding the rise movie after it's out but I kept getting scared I was gonna accidentally delete all this lol

Hawk Fluff Alphabet
Tumblr media
Requested by @manicgrungegf
A = Attractive (What do they find attractive about the other?)
What hawk finds most attractive about you is your kindness. You’re literally the sweetest person to everyone you meet and he likes to think that if he knew you when he was Eli, you still would have dated him. You didn’t care about the muscles or the tattoo or the hair. You genuinely loved him and were always kind to him even when he was being an ass.
B = Baby (Do they want a family? Why/Why not?)
He’s not sure about whether he wants kids or not. He’s kind of just enjoying being young and having fun right now, and he never actually thought he’d get married before, but he’d be open to it later on down the line if it was something you really wanted.
C = Cuddle (How do they cuddle?)
For as much game as he talks, this boy is a LITTLE SPOON. He loves being held by you, and sometimes can’t fall asleep unless your arms are wrapped around him. In public, he’s always the one with his arm around you, hugging you from behind, putting on that alpha male persona, but when it’s just you guys he’s a total puppy.
D = Dates (What are dates with them like?)
Hawk likes to take you to parties. You guys can drink, dance, hang out with your friends, it’s the perfect place in his opinion. But for more private occasions like your anniversary, he likes a nice picnic on the beach. He’d make PB&J’s for you guys (and cut off your crusts), pack some juice boxes, and bring a big giant blanket (and condoms shhh) for you guys.
E = Everything (You are my ____ (e.g. my life, my world…)
You’re my happy place. Hawk thinks of you as the best thing that’s ever happened to him. Whenever he feels frustrated from training or insecure about his scar or angry at Demitri, he knows he can always go to you for support and you’ll make him forget all about that stuff. He’s never not smiling when you’re around.
F = Feelings (When did they know they were in love?)
He first knew he loved you when you said his scar was cute. It’s always been his biggest insecurity, and even when you guys first went out, he always just assumed you just tried not to look at it and look at his hair or muscles instead. But when you told him you liked it, thought it gave him character and looked kind of tough, his heart shot through the roof. This beautiful, ethereal, magnetically charming girl thought his scar, his deformity, was cute?! Love on sight.
G = Gentle (Are they gentle? If so, how?)
He’s more gentle than you would think, but still not as gentle as, say, Miguel. He would never hurt you or make you do anything you don’t want to do, but he likes to rough house, play wrestle, and tease you a little bit. He likes to sneak up behind you, pick you up and spin you around, and ruffle your hair as a “good morning” every day.
H = Hands (How do they like to hold hands?)
Hawk is holding your hand all. The. damn. Time. He likes everyone to know who you belong to. Inside, he’s still a little insecure and nervous that you’ll decide you can do better and leave him, so he finds holding your hand reassuring, especially when you run your thumb over the back of his hand.
I = Impression (What was their first impression?)
His first impression of you was honestly not good. You were friends with Samantha Larusso so he just assumed you were stuck up and snobby. The first time you guys actually talked was at a party. You were pacing nervously outside because your friends had left, your phone died, and you had no way to get home. Hawk took pity on you and offered to give you a ride on his motorcycle, and you guys ended up driving all over town, talking, laughing, drinking milkshakes, and you quickly made plans to hang out the next day.
J = Jealousy (Do they get jealous?)
He is the most jealous boy, mostly because he’s insecure that you’ll leave him for someone else. Sometimes you think it’s hot, but if it ever bothers you, he’ll make a conscious effort to work on himself and trust that you’ll always come back to him.
K = Kiss (How do they kiss? Who initiated the first kiss?)
Your first kiss was the sweetest moment ever. You guys were sitting on the beach one night talking about all your deep thoughts. He started telling you how he was super insecure about his lip scar and thought no girl would ever want to kiss him before he got the mohawk and muscles. “Well I can think of one girl who would love to kiss you.” At this, he looked at you with pure shyness, and you leaned in and gave him a sweet kiss. Now, his kisses can range anywhere from sweet and loving, to possessive and dominant. You love them all.
L = Love (Who says ‘I love you’ first?)
He knew he was in love with you when you first talked about nerdy shit with him and Demitri. He always thought he couldn’t like nerdy stuff like Dr. Who or girls wouldn’t like him, so when Demitri brought it up while you three were hanging out, he panicked. But then you started talking about the new trailer and how excited you were for a female Dr. and he fell in love on the spot.
M = Memory (What’s their favourite memory together?)
His favorite memory with you is that time he needed to touch up his hair color and you asked if you could do it for him. You got him a little poncho (garbage bag but shhh), parted his hair in neat little sections, and touched up the dye. You guys had such a fun time, you gushed about how good his hair looked down, and it ended up looking way better than when he did it himself. Now every time he needs a touch up he comes to you.
N = Nickel (Do they spoil? Do they buy the person they love everything?)
Hawk doesn’t generally spoil you with material things. You both would much rather spend your time and money on memories, or food. Of course on your birthday and anniversaries he gets you little gifts, but generally speaking, his love language leans more towards quality time.
O = Orange (What colour reminds them of their other half?)
Lavender reminds him of you. Soft, sweet, feminine. He thinks it looks amazing on you, too. He’s actually thought about dying his mohawk lavender next just to feel closer to you.
P = Pet names (What pet names do they use?)
Princess. That’s the biggest one. Sometimes angel, or babygirl.
Q = Quaint (What is their favourite non-modern thing?)
His favorite non-modern thing is old muscle cars. He’s saving up to buy an old Corvette one day. It’s one of his big goals in life. He wants to have a mohawk made for the car, too, so everyone knows how cool he is.
R = Rainy Day (What do they like to do on a rainy day?)
Little secret about Hawk, he loves to cook. When it’s raining outside, he likes to have you come over and make a big meal with him. Maybe chicken pot pie, steaks, or pad thai, and sit on the couch eating and watching old movies.
S = Sad (How do they cheer themselves/others up?)
Unfortunately, Hawk used to be an expert at being sad back before he joined Cobra Kai. The way he likes to deal with it is generally just crying. He likes to let it all out, be alone, collect himself, and then maybe watch a movie or hang out with you. If you’re sad, his first question is “who do I have to beat up?” If it’s not from a person, he’ll take you on an adventure. Hikes, long drives, exploring new places, just to get your mind off it.
T = Talking (What do they like to talk about?)
Umm karate. It literally changed his life. He loves to tell you about the new moves he learned in training, talk about the tournaments coming up, or the rivalry between Cobra Kai and Myagi-Do. And you’re a sucker for gossip so you love to hear about it.
U = Unencumbered (What helps them relax?)
Music, soft blankets, the tiredness after a workout, a good hot meal, and he loves to watch cringe compilations on Youtube.
V = Vaunt (What do they like to show off? What are they proud of?)
Ever since his transformation from Eli to Hawk, this boy likes to show off everything, all the time. His hair, his tattoos, his muscles, his fighting skills, his sarcasm, his girl…
W = Wedding (When, how, where do they propose?)
He proposes to you about 6 months into your relationship with a ring pop outside of a gas station. You both knew it was a joke, but honestly started referring to each other as fiance and never stopped. Then, about 3 years later, he got you a real ring and took your hand and said “about time we actually do this, huh?” Of course, he took you to the same gas station where he had “proposed” the first time. Not the most romantic thing looking in on it, but to you guys, it was perfect.
X = Xylophone (What’s their song?)
Highway To Hell- ACDC
Y = Yes (Do they ever think of getting married/proposing?)
He proposes to you multiple times! Of course he thinks about it. He wants you guys to be together forever!
Z = Zebra (If they wanted a pet, what would they get?)
A hawk! It’s his signature symbol, of course he thinks it would be super badass to actually have a pet hawk. He would name it Desmond, and get it a tiny little mohawk.

What you tell a child will vary based on the age of the child, their level of interest, and their race and/or yours may be a factor. One thing that is essential is that they are told the truth. Unfortunately, there are many different stories being told about the same events which mean parents may have to step up their game regarding the facts of slavery. If you’re going to say a schoolbook is wrong, you better be able to back it up.
In 1977, the mini-series Roots captivated the nation and started a conversation about slavery that may never be duplicated. There were only three basic television networks at the time, the show’s 130–140 million viewers equaled more than half of the US population at the time of 221 million. Each of the eight episodes still ranks among the top 100 most-watched episodes of all time. If someone managed to avoid watching Roots, it was almost impossible to avoid discussions of the show. People in America were talking about slavery.
I had a chance to re-watch Roots recently which is available on-demand on my cable subscriber. Knowing what I now know about slavery, it’s amazing how much information was slipped into the show, including the ever-changing laws that targeted slaves, even after they were freed. It also captured the real fear of white people during and after the Nat Turner rebellion.
Before I take this conversation in a whole different direction, many of the commenters mentioned watching documentaries or movies as a family and discussing them afterward. In addition to Roots, one might consider the PBS Series: Slavery and the Making of America, 500 Years Later, Roots of Resistance: The Story of the Underground Railroad, or Over the River… Life of Lydia Marie Child, Abolitionist for Freedom. There are also several children’s books about slavery including If You Lived When There Was Slavery in America, Henry’s Freedom Box, and All Different Now: Juneteenth, the First Day of Freedom. Many of the children's books have YouTube videos with the author reading the book aloud. Questions from the children should be expected, your ability to answer them may vary. If you don’t know the answer, don’t be afraid to say that, but commit to trying to find the answer and discuss your plan to do so.
There were responders who indicated they would say nothing at all to their children. I respectfully submit that children will learn something from somewhere about slavery and those parents might wish they had more involvement. There is a lot of rewriting of history even today. Many purported historians make excuses for slavery and praise the Founders for their foresight which led to the end of slavery in America. There is a part of the Constitution; Article 1, Section 9: Clause 1, which establishes that the US could not eliminate the International Slave Trade for at least twenty years.
Article 1, Section 9: Clause 1
Clause 1. The Migration or Importation of such Persons as any of the States now existing shall think proper to admit…
They say it was a plan to eventually phase out slavery. I interpret it as something far more diabolical which combines protectionism with the forced breeding of domestic slaves in order to generate higher profits on their sale. If you’re going to talk to children about slavery be sure to get it right. If you choose never to speak to your children about slavery, you risk allowing them to be misinformed and led astray.
In 1808, America banned the import of slaves from Africa and the West Indies. The impact on actual slavery in America…
medium.com
“Those Who Do Not Learn History Are Doomed To Repeat It.”
There was a response from a white woman with two black grandchildren ages 13, and 11. She said, “They are getting to the age where they need to know these things, but I’m lost.” In her case, I think I’d ask the children’s parent(s) if available what their plans were to discuss slavery and try to reach some consensus. Going alone without their involvement could create a bad situation which ultimately affects everyone’s relationship. Assuming you go forward; I’d begin with a discussion about what they have experienced at their ages specific to being black. You, as well as black parents and grandparents, will likely have to cover many topics including the civil rights movement, African civilizations, and black hair. Don’t be overwhelmed by what you don’t know, a trip to the library or a targeted Internet search may prove extremely helpful. I would suggest going at their pace, not force-feeding them if they’re not ready. and preparing for the possibility that the discussion never really ends. I’m still learning as will you and them.
There’s another category for which I got no responses, though I have hundreds of white Facebook friends. What do white people tell their white children about slavery? They shouldn’t assume they’ll be taught everything they need to know in school. They should take an interest in the curriculum and find out what is being taught, discuss with their children what they’re learning. Look for opportunities to supplement their learning, providing them the same books, videos, and documentaries I’ve suggested to black parents. Pay attention to their discussion about children and teachers of other races. Look for teachable moments about equality, study the histories of various cultures beyond your own.
Slavery was horrific, but it’s part of America’s past and shouldn’t be forgotten or dismissed. In an unrelated discussion about events during slave times, I was told (via the Internet), “that was 200 years ago, who cares?” In another discussion with a white co-worker about a race massacre that had occurred not 10 miles from where we were standing, he said, “Why would you want to bring any of that up? It will just create problems.” There are many who would like slavery to be a forgotten part of America’s history. This country was literally built by slaves and that contribution has never formally been acknowledged or compensated. Even today, the equivalent of slave labor is utilized in several nations, some of which benefits Americans who look the other way. The more we educate our own population, the better we can make the world. It all begins with teaching the children.

Hello! What are the RO's favorite social media platforms (and why)?
considering i've only partially thought about the specifics of popular social media in oracle (so far all i have is that the main one, scry, is like if you combined the connection aspect of linkedin, the nosy aspect of facebook, the forum aspect of reddit and like, the vapid news aspect of any tabloid) then for this i'll just do what they would like if they used social media in this time and universe
hebe: mainly on art twitter. posts her art on tumblr too but prefers the exposure of twitter. gets into her fair share of arguments over people reposting without credit and blatantly misinterpreting her favourite characters. complains about the toxic people but likes commissioning other artists to support them and deep diving into constructive criticisms. uses facebook solely to share pictures of her brother's dogs or to shade her sister. posts on instagram with windo and MC a lot, has an aesthetic theme
windo: goes on reddit but specifically the redditships/tifu/aita realm, occasionally the nosleep type subreddits. gets sucked in. sometimes posts in them so people can laugh at the stupid things he's done, e.g. TIFU by offering to hang a priceless painting for a friend. decided to improvise when i realised i didn't know what i was doing. gives advice on the relationship posts. knows there's a lot of fake posts but operates on the suspension of disbelief to connect with strangers. also has an instagram w/ a mixture of goofy, friendship and fashion posts, and a work twitter to give commentary on political articles
sailor: a finsta to scroll meme instagrams. they actually laugh out loud at some of the bad jokes they come across. doesn't have tiktok so they can sit on their high horse in disdain for it but has seen millions in the reels tab anyway. never posts or comments, just likes. they send the MC memes but not through dms or anything, literally will get up and show them irl if they find something they think they'd laugh at like a cat bringing you a dead mouse. don't really do public social media profiles because they value their privacy.
jelly: their finsta that they just post bullshit on. they have like 3 followers and all their posts are like a slew of every thought that pops into their head at 2am. their celebrity crushes, things that made them laugh for 5 mins for no reason, their take on soulmates, on fictional characters, nostalgia posts, dog pics, them listening to one direction, 5 selfies in a row of different angles, drunk posts. their public social medias are all very put together and well curated tho. pretty pics and makeup #ads on insta. eloquent linkedin. no facebook
twenty: barely uses any. dislikes seeing too many opinions that he didn't ask for. had a phase where he used to troll scammers (and sometimes just random people to be a menace) on habbo hotel. wouldn't admit it but he likes taking uquizzes. what kind of emo are u. what horror movie trope would u be. what colour would u be. 9/10 he’s not even happy about the results but he just goes :/ and moves onto the next one. has seen like 5 total tiktoks and only knows what a tiktoker is because jelly has explained it
noir: doomscrolls on various sites, mostly twitter and douban. hates these sites with a passion but continues to consume all the depressing content anyway as just one of many shitty habits. had a sadboy tumblr (because OF COURSE HE DID) in his teens that is semi-common knowledge but old enough news that it’s not really something people bring up to tease him about. black and white big gifs with text, angsty textposts, classics like that. pretends to care about his linkedin but god if it’s not the most boring thing ever to him. posts view pics on insta
honey: honestly probably normal twitter. her dn is just honey and her @ is something generic and she shares her opinions on condiments and mundane things like that. not really interested in discourse or fandom spaces and is not the most up to date in meme culture. she’s busy a lot, so she doesn’t have much time to spend online. watches those calming asmr baking videos on youtube. in her teens i think she would’ve been a fan of acoustic cover channels. had a facebook when she was younger but deactivated it because she never used it
jareth: his secret letterboxd. actually reviews movies impartially and passionately. nobody would ever guess it was him. not a mega popular account, but pretty credible. likes to take advantage of the fact he’s not taken too seriously by certain demographics, so he shares his more comprehensive opinions anonymously. gets genuinely irritated by most troll reviews. some are funny enough to let slide. he had a wattpad once but NOBODY knows nor will they ever know because he would die of embarrassment if that came out. sometimes says annoying shit on twitter but nothing too controversial or topical
ludo: it’s not really a social media but like......ebay. he can scroll ebay for hours whether he’s window shopping or actually wants to buy something. likes to look in the antique section especially. the habit started because he grew up with barely any money and used to curiously browse the kind of obscure stuff rich collectors liked to buy, but by the time he had income of his own (albeit not that much) he’d kind of convinced himself that he understood why people wanted this junk. now it’s like an addiction. he also has a twitter that’s more clued into memes and references but is still pretty mundane.
monty: her instagram is very well curated. meticulous, even, with selfies, fashion, meals, more ‘relatable’ backstage pictures, etc. it’s definitely a little too perfect but she’s proud of her aesthetic eye, and her public image isn’t fake so much as presented in a way that she gets to keep her personal things to herself. is the kind of celebrity to do instagram lives just to make her fans happy. made a youtube channel due to popular demand but doesn’t really have a clear plan for it, so it’s mostly just q&a where she talks about her favourite characters, funny set anecdotes and her met gala looks. jareth appears on it sometimes to talk about their drama greenwood creek and he suggests meme reviews and things like that

What a coward ass account. I’ve asked about several questions but I bet you won’t answer it because apparently you ship a fake ship and have 0 backbone and you can’t argue with anyone because you’ve nothing to back up your fanservice ass ship. Namjin is merely a friendship and a professional one at that. Wake up. Jin is never intimate with Joon, never tells me he loves him, never goes out of his way to spoil him, never possesses over him. Never shows any sign of jealousy so how tf are y’all so fucking delulu and blind?
You know, normally I’d just delete something as rude as this but honestly you gave me a good laugh with it so I’ll take the bait. But FYI, while I planned on answering these questions sooner or later, because imagine this, some of us have jobs and things we need to take care of and thus sometimes just don’t have the time to write posts, especially when some of them take a lot of time and research, even more so when an average thematic post from me is somewhere between 2 and 5k words long. That takes a hot minute to write. Not that you’d care, but now I don’t think I’ll answer them because I truly don’t appreciate you coming into our asks and being this unnecessary level of rude. If you felt like I skipped your question or was taking an oddly long time to answer, it would’ve sufficed to send in a small question about it and you would’ve gotten a normal answer for it, but guess not.
There are several things I find extremely interesting and also hilarious about your ask, especially since they confirm basically every suspicion I have about shipping when it comes to Bangtan and mlm ships in general.
But I’d like to start with this first because it really made me pause there for a minute: “because you’ve nothing to back up your fanservice ass ship” Since your ask is about Namjin I will assume this part is as well, yes, and I really am struggling to see how they, of all ships, are a “fanservice” one considering both Namjoon and Seokjin aren’t really big on skinship and initiating hugs and touches. What, exactly, about them is fanservice? Even more so since you go on to say this: “Jin is never intimate with Joon, never tells me he loves him, never goes out of his way to spoil him, never possesses over him. Never shows any sign of jealousy” so if these are your definition of what constitutes a) fanservice and b) a relationship, yet you claim Namjin is just fanservice, how can that be if you say they never do any? This math doesn’t math, you know.
Before I get ahead of myself, let’s break this down point by point, shall we?
1. “Jin is never intimate with Joon” – Tell me, dear anon, how exactly do you know that? Are you their friend? A fly living on their wall and watching over them 24/7? And also, how, exactly, are we supposed to be shown that by them? Is Namjoon supposed to walk over to Seokjin and, I don’t know, make out with him while Bangtan B*mb Noona stands a meter away and films the whole thing? What even does intimate mean in your definition? I have a sneaking suspicion of what you’re asking for but I will give you the benefit of the doubt.
Since I like language, let’s get into the literal definition of the word intimate, shall we, because you might be surprised to find it doesn’t just mean what you think it does. According to the Cambridge dictionary, intimate has several meanings, and what Namjoon and Seokjin show us and tell us that they have is actually several of them:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Being a close, personal friend”, does that ring a bell? It does, doesn’t it? Namjoon and Seokjin have known each other for ten years almost, have spent a considerable amount of time together, have had dinner with each other’s families, Namjoon was at Seokjin’s brother’s wedding, and Namjoon is the person he turns to when it comes to his lyrics, always makes sure to thank Namjoon in his Thank You section in their albums, and supports him however he sees fit. Isn’t that intimate?
I know you mean the sexual kind of intimate, and truly that is something neither you nor I have any knowledge of and, surprise, it’s none of our business either. If I remember correctly, we’ve never brought up anything really sexual in any of our posts because I don’t believe in this whole “sexual tension” thing that toxic shippers go around preaching about. Even if it were there, that’s not for us to discuss because their sex life is none of our business.
Next.
2. “never tells me he loves him” – Never tells you he loves him? And why, pray tell, should he tell you, specifically? Yes, I’m being petty, so what. Love speaks many different languages, and saying the words “I love you” is just one of many, many different ways in which you can let someone know you love and cherish them, romantically and platonically. Years ago when Seokjin posted a cover on SoundCloud he said in the accompanying post that he prefers saying I like you over I love you, so I guess that means he just doesn’t love anyone, yes? Besides, is he obliged to stand in front of the camera and profess his undying love to Namjoon for you to believe he loves our dearest leader?
Isn’t it enough that he shows his love and respect for Namjoon in other ways, like praising him when Namjoon was being hard on himself so Seokjin told him he did well and that he always does well even in tricky situations, or being by his side during red carpets and other such things because Namjoon once asked him to do so because he feels calmer when Seokjin is by his side? Isn’t that a beautiful way of showing someone you love them, regardless if it’s romantic or platonic love?
Next.
3. “never goes out of his way to spoil him” – Is Seokjin Namjoon’s sugar daddy? Did I miss something?
Next.
4. “never possesses over him. Never shows any sign of jealousy” – now this point I have the biggest rage at because neither of these things—possessiveness and jealousy—are good things, especially not in a romantic relationship, but really, they aren’t a good thing in any kind of relationship. Possessiveness is a slippers slope, as is jealousy, the former being a great gateway toward an abusive relationship and while that might be “”””cute”””” in raunchy romance novels and movies, it isn’t in real life. And neither is jealousy. The only thing jealousy really tells and shows you, in the context you are going for, is insecurity and a lack of faith in your relationship and especially your partner. And that, again, isn’t a good or healthy thing for a relationship, especially not a romantic one. I know toxic shippers eat up this whole jealousy bs, YouTube is full of it after all and brings in hundreds of thousands of views (and dollars), but that has nothing to do with real life. So, the fact that we never see Seokjin, or Namjoon, jealous or possessive over the other? That is a good thing. Besides, enlighten me, how is this jealousy supposed to look like because true jealousy doesn’t appear written across your face in neon letters. I’m curious.
Next.
5. “Namjin is merely a friendship and a professional one at that.” – if that is your opinion, I’m happy for you. I won’t go out of my way to prove to you why I think differently or why you should because that’s not what I’m here for. Yes, I have a certain opinion on Namjin, that’s true, but I’m not a toxic shipper who will fights someone tooth and nail over it because that’s stupid. And won’t change anything anyway. Besides, my opinion doesn’t in any shape or form negate that they are friends. Every good relationship should have friendship as basis, and I very much believe that they are very close friends, while your phrasing makes it seem like you think they are only work friends, as in people who are friends during working hours but stop once they clock out of work, just saying.
The purpose of this blog isn’t to somehow convert people into shippers or convince them of something, instead it’s simply supposed to be a happy space where we share our opinions, have fun with Bangtan, their music and everything else, and can have civil conversations without calling anyone out or calling each other names. It’s literally in our blog description “Sharing thoughts on everything Bangtan, as well as vmin and namjin”, meaning it is a blog “designed” for both OT7s as well as people who already are vminnies or namjinists, or both, and yet if someone happens to start liking one of these two pairings because of our posts, like I’ve seen happen with some readers and namjin, that’s great, but that’s not our primary goal in any kind of way.
This is our blog which also means we have the freedom to answer whichever asks we want to and however quickly we want or can. Chances are, perhaps, the way you phrased your ask simply didn’t sit well with us and thus we decided against answering it at the time. Just some food for thought.
Lastly, there are a lot of blogs that surely represent your opinions and agree with you, so what, exactly, are you looking for on our blog? Do you think by sending an ask like this, or questioning my opinions in such a manner, you’ll be able to convert us away from our opinions? Neither of us forces anyone to agree with everything we say, so you don’t have to either, and we also don’t force anyone to read our posts. If you don’t like what we post, you are free to look for a different blog with which you’ll be able to agree and find your opinion represented, I won’t stop you. Enjoy.

The Discussion of Fat People
I’m going to start this post by saying this: I’m considering bariatric surgery.
I have tried to love myself my whole life. I’m healthy, I’m relatively talented, and I have a good job.
But I’m fat.
It’s very difficult to be able to love myself when I go shopping for clothes, because I’m limited to the “plus size” section, where the options are terrible and the cuts are even worse. It’s also difficult to love myself when I have a very real fear of airplanes charging me for two seats if they determine I’m above their weight limit. It’s difficult to love myself when I’m bombarded by weight loss advertisements every day. It’s difficult to love myself when media--from television shows to books to movies--depict fat people as either comic relief or evil.
And it’s most difficult to love myself when I try to discuss this with friends and after my long, heartfelt plea to support fat people in media, I was immediately faced with “anyway, subject change.” This isn’t an exaggeration. It actually happened. I was too stunned to say anything.
It’s not enough for fat people to champion more diversity in media. This is something I see happening time and time again: The only people who care are literally fat people who want to see change. I can’t name one time when I’ve ever seen someone considered a “normal” weight fight for this. And if the only people making noise are the people who media doesn’t want anyway, those who produce the media feel justified in leaving them out.
I think most people believe, deep down, that fat people just aren’t healthy. That if they voice their support, they’re supporting an unhealthy lifestyle. I’ve found that a lot of people will say “no, really, I support you” to me, but then when it comes to speaking out about the lack of representation in media, those same people are silent.
I recently watched a video on YouTube about bariatric surgery, and then YouTube suggested another “weight loss” video to me. It was at the point at night where I was just clicking on anything, so I watched it.
It wasn’t about weight loss. It was attacking people who said “being fat is healthy,” and cited the people on My 600 LB Life as proof.
First, that show is extremely abusive to fat people, but I’d need a whole other post to talk about that. Second, yeah, being that fat can be harmful. Just like all eating disorders can be harmful. Being too underweight can also kill you. Extremes exist. A 40 year old adult weighing 700 lbs is a problem, but a 40 year old adult weighting 70 lbs is also a problem.
A 300 lb adult with good blood pressure, no diabetes or pre-diabetes, and low cholesterol does not need to be told they have a health problem. Especially when I, at 300 lbs, lost almost 100 lbs way too fast, destroyed my thyroid and my gall bladder, and ended up with more health problems than I started with!
So why the fuck, after all that, would I consider bariatric surgery?
Because the world isn’t going to change in my lifetime. Because I will continue to be judged for being fat, no matter what anyone implies otherwise. Because my clothing options are limited. Because no one makes computer chairs for anyone over 280 lbs. Because people think they have the right to make YouTube videos telling me how unhealthy I am. Because when I bring this up in conversation, people say “let’s change the subject.” Because when I leave the house, I absolutely know that people judge me because I see judgemental posts on the internet all the time. Because I am embarrassed to exist.
Because at 40 years old, having tried multiple paths to weight loss--including long periods of fasting--I can’t convince my doctor that something else is wrong but gastric bypass has still been suggested to me as my next step.
Because sustained dietary programs like Medical Weight Loss run about $4000/year out of pocket, but bariatric surgery is covered by insurance.
Because I’ve been so much that I can’t be taken seriously because of my weight that I’ve believed it for too long, and this really is my only option.
