A quick thank-you...
...to all the folks who passed on information for my enquiry about how that horse-archer here...
tumblr
...was pulling off such an extraordinary stance.
It seems he's got his stirrups, and maybe an extra strap, arranged especially for this trick shot, so it's not an actual military technique at all.
I was thinking, too, that being on the other side of the horse and shooting under its neck or over its back would be more tactically sound - based probably off seeing it done in Western movies - but (a) that's almost certainly a movie-only trick and (b) it doesn't matter what side you're hanging off if your mount gets hit.
To use the modern term that's a "mobility kill", and You Are Screwed.
Thanks again!
*****
BTW: several people also pointed out that the horse isn't a wee pony being put-upon for the trick, but a Mongolian horse plenty tough enough for it.
Makes sense; that horse's ancestors carried warriors wearing this stuff...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...from the high steppes to Hungary, winning battles all the way.

COLLAB WARNING!!!
Finally happy to talk about this and start getting excited!
Next weekend @blumineck and I will be meeting up for stock shooting!. (Puns).
I will be handling the tech and the camera, he will be providing the real archery skills and pole dancing XD.
The plan is to shoot stuff of him Solo and some together as well.!! (he might get me on the pole.. but I would not hold much hope for me XD).
Damned excited but now the real question/request is...
GIVE US POSE SUGGESTONS AND IDEAS!!

This was hilarious.
Also my baby sibling is a horse archer, and they know a lot about their sport, and I have been subjected to the same lecture about the Mongolian army and horse archery three times this week (it’s still fascinating), and uh …
You’re using your horse archers wrong.
I mean, it clearly all worked out, and that’s brilliant. I just…
I’ve heard the lecture three times now, and that’s … that’s all I could think about.
first day as a second century warlord i have my men tie branches to their horses’ tails to stir up dust and make it look like there’s a lot of us but i forget it just rained so there isn’t any dust and the enemy can clearly see there’s like twenty of us all spread out in a line

I really hate to be a bother, but the way you draw violins being played is a bit irksome. Just wanted to point out that in the latest comic, Holmes was playing with the wood on the neck of the instrument, instead of with the hairs between the bridge and neck. Again, sorry
sobs I quite literally traced reference for that panel because people always tell me I draw the violin playing wrong...devil's instrument that refuses to be captured in a drawing

I finished the Fengxin yesterday night! Riding on a black steed, he's practising his arrow-and-bow-skills and I'm pretty sure that not only Xie Lian is watching him :D
I'm aware that...this drawing is pretty flawful, yet it is always a good idea to just try and try more to improve later :3 So I guess I'll draw more animals soon? Maybe something for Yuwu? 2ha? We will see ;D I hope you like this young man!

There's nothing surprising about this if you know anything about horse archery:
But it's always fucking badass and wonderful to see.
Despite knowing the mechanics and the necessary strength it still gets me in my gender neutral horse girl heart

i love the idea that Wild is a big brother to basically all of the kids in his Hyrule. it’s such a good heacanon that i never see utilized.
#with their dads permission he’ll take Cottla and Koko on horse rides and they always have food ready for his horses when he comes into town#cottla wants to learn archery to be like him and he melts when he finds that out#all the kids in Hateno have been caught giving treats to his horses#this is a popular headcanon i think but him teaching the local kiddos how to sword fight so often times he’ll be found directing a horde of#children who’re all swinging treebaches around. he couldn’t look prouder of them.#imagine when he gets older and all the village kids r teens/young adults and all of a sudden the village has skilled hunters and foragers#and everyone’s like ‘wow what’s hateno doing’ and the answer is they all had a great big brother#by older i mean he’d be like. early thirties. but y’know ahsnfjks#wild’s impact should rest in the ppl i think. botw is all abt humanity’s strive to overcome hardship and find beauty in the misery#(well. it is to me anyhow lmao)#so i love the idea of his influence not resting in politics or myths or whatever#but within the culture and spirit of those he fought for#in my brain he definitely wanted to rescue Zelda at first and that’s the only reason he was going to fight ganon#but as his journey progressed he wanted to protect and cultivate the future more than rescue the past#i like this idea w zelda too. like not only will the future generation have great fighters but excellent scholars and leaders.#wow i am RAMBLING#anyhow. i like big bro wild.#linked universe#lu#jojo’s linked universe#linkeduniverse#lu wild#wild lu#wild linked universe#linked universe wild
