This reminds me of a story.
My sibling called the mental health hotline, and was treated really poorly, just brushed off and told to comply with their meds.
My sibling hung up, took a deep breath, and said “I am my best resource.”
Called a friend.
Went out to coffee with me.
Felt better.
I got two points:
1) There probably are people struggling towards you to save you. Maybe not, but just because you’re stuck in the inner dungeons and they’re still trying to find the damn castle in the evil swamp *doesn’t mean you’re abandoned,* your friends are just DIRECTIONALLY CHALLENGED.
2) Sometimes you Gotta fight your own way out of the inner dungeon so you can meet your friends halfway.
Nobody has to come save you for you to save yourself.
(Also if you don’t get out and find your friends, they might be lost forever because nobody except you learned to read a damn map.)
‘no one is coming to save you’ okay fine I agree but can I even get a hug at least
#mental health#you matter#you matter enough to save yourself#and to accept help#it sucks things are awful#get to work on getting out of that creepy ass dungeon#find a hot beast lord#probably two dungeons over#overthrow the dark lord#rescue your directionally challenged friends#start your own kingdom

I know too much math for this.
Also, my dog catches shit athletically and aesthetically, so this is not just a human thing.
But yeah. I know too much math for this. =_=
I can't find the original post, but one of the Humans Are Space Orcs posts was about how maybe it would be absolutely unhinged that the average human can just approximately judge mass and velocity and distance with eyes and muscles, and throw objects with moderate to high accuracy. Like, no planning, binocular vision only, no triangulation, just toss stuff. They go apeshit over human sports, because that's like if a worm wrote a novel or something, practically a bloodsport.
On the flip side, the fact that most humans can't in any way explain explain mathematically what's happening in a game of catch is infuriating. "What do you mean you just kinda figure it? But it's not a guess?"
The practical result is that it turns out that humans can do the same thing with interstellar travel and skip a starship across the universe without any math, although you want to make sure you don't build anything to close to the approximate landing site.

What if they move?
happy birthday to all the tbs in the southern hemisphere!
[a screenshot of a featured snippet of a webpage that includes an image of several running horses. The headline of the website is "Horses' Birthday 2021 - Only Melbourne" and the text reads "all thoroughbreds have the same birthday so that their ages can be standardized for comparison because of the historical lack of records of actual birthdays. All thoroughbred horses celebrate their birthday on January 1st in the northern hemisphere and August 1st in the southern hemisphere."]

You don't have to understand to be kind.
You don't have to "get it" to be supportive.
You don't have to empathize to respect a boundary.
You can just, y'know, listen and believe people when they tell you what they need.
#i can already hear the shrieks of BUT NUANCE#and sure whatever#but also#i have a ton of clients#who have husbands who don't “get” what they haven't experienced so refuse to change or accomodate in anyway#and that's the problem here#and y'know what#this isn't a husband/wife problem#or a conservative problem#it's a people problem#you don't have to UNDERSTAND why someone is the way they are#you just accept and support them#even when you disagree

Figures from Arthurian lit as cats:
Arthur - tuxedo British shorthair

Supposed to kind of be an everyman, a random bastard child who randomly pulled the sword from stone. Very approachable, handsome, bog standard looking cat. The tuxedo coloring adds a bit of authority.
Guinevere - flame point/buff ragdoll

Beautiful, elegant, refined. Born to aristocracy, unlike Arthur. Like many orange female cats, she contains a thread of scheming intelligence.
Merlin - can appear as any cat, usually appears as a fucked up looking scrawny black cat with heterochromia

Not explaining this one. That is just what he looks like.
Morgan & Morgause - longhair torties, Morgan has a darker coat pattern and Morgause is more red

Torties are associated with luck and magic and tortitude. Girlboss fairy witch cat color.
Lancelot - longhaired white cat with blue eyes

He’s just got white cat energy. They love to bite randomly and they have pretty privilege not much else.
Gawain - longhair creamsicle (orange and white)

Orange (stupid) and gorgeous. Ladies man. A little unhinged but not Lancelot levels.
Sir Dagonet the Fool - orange

He’s just orange. Most orange cat ever. Orange cat behavior and personality.
Sir Galehaut, Prince of the Distant Isles - tabby Maine Coon

He’s a gentle giant. He’s loyal. He’s noble. He’s beautiful.
Dame Ragnelle - calico Sphynx cat that has started randomly growing hair

It all falls out and she is her beautiful wrinkly self when the curse is broken.
