the one thing amiss from nsbu's concept and the general isekai/modern jumanji medias in general is the fact that in the original jumanji all that shit happened in the real life town. people died for real. we need to bring funny games (1997) to the tabletop scene

golden is a platformer taking after pizza tower and super Mario world and Deltarune in gameplay, but taking after toh, gravity falls, wings of fire, Deltarune and super paper Mario in story, a story that twist traditional fantasy tropes, it has a very Tumblr esque writing style lots of dragons.

And sundown is an urban fantasy surreal horror rpg that comments on mental health

Taking after Deltarune and Mario and Luigi super start saga in gameplay, but feeling more like gravity falls infinity train, creeppasta games and wings of fire in story.

Having fun making this, and I'm getting along with it at a pretty good clip. Nearly halfway through with it, though these screens are from early in the game. I really like how it's all coming together. So much so I may start over two of my projects to work on them the same way I did this one, since it's honestly made it so much faster. Made a game bible with the outline, written dialogue, the cutscenes beat by beat. It has made it infinitely easier to know what switches and variables I need, and when I get to cutscenes I just copy and paste the pre-written dialogue with some minor edits here and there. Who knew planning your project out would actually make it faster?

Read it as a kid and it was the earliest reading experience I can remember going "WOAH... YOU CAN HAVE A VILLAIN WITHOUT SEEING THE VILLAIN??? YOU CAN HAVE STORY HAPPEN BEHIND THE SCENES AND STILL KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING WITHOUT IT BEING SPOON-FED TO THE AUDIENCE??? YOU CAN HAVE A CLIFFHANGER ENDING THAT DOESN'T SUCK???? AMAZING" and it's changed my brain chemistry ever since. I want to learn how to do what the ending of chicken bones did to 12 year old me

Also it has a cool setting description at one point and the protagonist's only description is a canonically ugly haircut <333 gotta love me a story where the protagonist isn't a sacred little angel or the coolest guy in the room

CURRENT favorite creepypasta to listen to is Creepsmcpasta's edition of Mayhem Mountain!!!

Anyway spoilers:

- also has a villain (this time with a name) but they never see or interact with him once

- ARCHITECTURAL HORROR!!!!!

- A MIDDLE AGED CAST!!!!

- all with distinct personalities that are shown through the way they interact with each other, not just told as archetypes!!!

- there's TWO girl characters, and they aren't JUST "and this is my unnamed girlfriend who dies" ((my standards are so low for pastas hAHQGEFD))

- THE NARRATION IS. MMMM 👌👌👌 GOALS. The author shows what needs to be shown and tells just enough without it being too much and its delicious

- actually really accurate descriptions of what it's like to be in a life or death situation instead of the protag reacting like an anime character or an action hero to it

- and apparently I'm a huge sucker for "the villain is still at large" stories where the villain is a normal human instead of an unkillable monster

ANYWAY YES. CREEPYPASTAS MY BE FRIGGIN L O V E D. There's more good ones but these two take the cake for me hands down

I had not posted in a while. I had some drawings I wanted to post but my printer/scanner was acting up so I doodled something in MSPaint. It is another Chronicles/New World of Darkness skull. Wanted to do something quick and silly and is in no way meant to be a serious setting. Meant to invoke joke horror movies, especially things like Abbot and Costello Meet the "Insert Monster" movies.

You play as one of the Absurdities, a person who through happenstance has encountered the supernatural. Instead of reacting with horror, the experience has sundered your brain but has allowed you to make peace with the ridiculousness of the situation. You have now become a magnet for the supernatural, attracting the various denizens of the World of Darkness. However, these dangers are mitigated as the universe also seems through random chance to give you a resistance against their predations. Once noble creatures of the night above mortal understanding find their existence humbled through the humiliation of merely being in your presence. You may attempt to ward a vampire with garlic for them to boast of their immunity, only for them to immediately be repulsed by your garlic breath when they try baring down on your neck. The universe seems to delight in both your existence and suffering, and at some point all you can really do is just learn to laugh alongside it.
