And November is over! This month has been filled with paperwork, organizing receipts, and so on, which isn't very fun, but it's part of the job!

We are making great progress with everything overall; merch has been ordered and we have received proof and approved it; our voice actors are already delivering the voiced names y'all paid for during our Kickstarter campaign; and more! Let's see it in detail, shall we? :^)

Our dear Raquel has been working hard (I think I say this every devlog, but damn) on reworking the sprites for the extended demo now that the Special postcards for the Kickstarter are done! For this next batch, she'll be working on Ara and Amon, so here's a WIP of how Ara is looking so far! 💜

I think you can see how her design is already more detailed and cohesive in some areas. We'll most likely ask for feedback when Amon is ready too, to test the waters with both characters like we did with Gael and Xal :^)

The street is coming to life! This background is almost ready thanks to Astro. We'll have four new locations in the Extended Demo to help with the pacing and the introduction of our world and story to (hopefully) make it perfect. Or something close to it!

In the writing department, I've so far added 7000 words to the prologue. We have one flavor choice, two personality choices (and several personality reactions), and three "relationship choices". These basically shape your relationship with Evie in this case. For example, you'll be able to choose if you are intimate friends, are warm to each other, or if you prefer something less physical / touchy. And Evie will remember that!

And this is just so far. While River has a kind of "set" personality, I want people to be able to shape some aspects of their life.

In the writing department I should also include the documents I've provided to our VAs, and to our composer, Tomás. More on that below!

Now you can enjoy Ren'py's default help screen but looking a bit nicer. This is for those who are not familiar with Ren'py's usual keybindings and stuff :^)

Nothing else on the programming side this month. I've focused on writing the script and that's going to be my main job until I can actually start programming something!

As I said before, our beloved voice actors are already working on the voiced names! In fact, Xal's VA (Francfil Pontañeles) and Pride's (Pat Langner) already recorded them! A little surprise is that we have been able to add our default MC's name, River, as a voiced name. For those of you who want to play with that name, you'll also enjoy some voiced lines!

What else—ah! We are already working with Tomás for our OST, and we have settled in 19 tracks total. Those are even more tracks than we expected! This is thanks to you all, and especially thanks to those of you who ordered more merch via Backerkit. You made those four extra tracks possible!

Our merch has been checked and so far only the pins are missing a preview and therefore our approval. We had to edit some files (beginner's mistake!) but being the first time we do this, I'd say things have been rather smoothly! We'd like to be able to start shipping this month, but it may not be possible. Which is a bummer! But well, we settled in December / January, so January it is, if nothing happens!

(Don't mind the colors being too flashy here—they will look more cohesive in game!)

OH, and the last extra bit! I've been working on the personality choices, as you all know, and Kayden has been helping me make the icons that will appear next to those choices for those who are colorblind. An extra thing to make them pop and differentiate them better! I think they are pretty self-explanatory, and if not, well—that means we have to give those icons a twist!

November has been a chaotic month for me due to the aftermath of the floods and my vacation week. The rest of the team has also had their good amount of irl stuff happening around them, but we've made it! The new year is approaching faster than I thought, as per usual, and I hope we can finish 2024 on a good note!

Zutara Week 2024 – Day 3 ～ Echoes

“ The Waterbender and the Banished Prince”

Katara leaned against the cold bars of her cell and looked around.

The cell was cold and empty. No blanket, no mattress, no lamp...

The only light in the cell was the light of the torch burning over the guard's head in the corridor outside.

Katara's hands were still tied behind her back.

She was feeling the burning pain in her left elbow...on the back of her left shoulder...and her right wrist...spots burned in the fight with Zuko and his firebenders.

Her clothes, soaked in the river, weighed more and more on her body in the cold of the cell. The cold bit her bones and the burn marks stung her skin... But the pain of these wounds was nothing compared to the pain that Aang was feeling now.

a sob caught in her throat.

where was Aang now? How was he feeling? Had Sokka managed to get him to the physician? How was Sokka doing now?

Her mind was racing ...what was to become of them all?! ...

Katara took a deep breath...calm down...first she had to calm down...then, she had to find a way to escape this ship...and then...

Footsteps echoed in the stairwell.

The guard stood up.

Someone turned in the corridor outside and walked towards the brig.

Someone Katara knew well...

The root cause of all of her miseries ...!

Katara frowned. Not moving an inch away from the bars of her cell, she fixed her eyes on the gate of the brig that separated the four prison cells from the corridor outside.

The guard opened the gate for Zuko.

Zuko entered the corridor between the four cells, taking slow measured steps to the last cell on the right, and stood in front of Katara.

"Where's the avatar?"

inadvertently, Katara burst into laughter!

she didn't expect to hear those words from Zuko...

Or rather, she totally expected to hear Zuko say those words...!

That question was so obvious, so familiar, so platitude, that Katara could not hold back her laughter!

"You have nerves to laugh in a situation like this, waterbender... when you don't even know if the Avatar is dead or alive!..."

The laughter vanished from Katara's face, replaced by worry and anger.

"I can help the Avatar, if you tell me where he is...!.."

"And why should Aang need your help?!"

"You know very well why, waterbender."

"No I don't!"

"Don't play dumb!"

 Zuko clasped his hands behind his back and started walking around the corridor between the cells.

"Avatar didn't fight today..."

FIAB: Sign-ups open!

Sign-ups are now open for Fic In A Box, a 10k fandom gift exchange, and it's time to officially join the event!

What Is FIAB?

A gift exchange is an fandom event where participants create fanworks to gift to each other. Fic In A Box is a fanwork exchange with a large minimum gifting requirement and several unique features. Participants have 6 weeks to create their gifts, and gifts can include fic, art, audio, video— and much much more— aiming for a minimum of 10k of fic or equivalent to give to their assigned recipient.

This sounds enticing but you have questions? More under the cut!

Signups? What's that?

To officially join the event and be matched— so that you are assigned someone to make a gift for, and someone is assigned to you— you have to sign up on Ao3. It is the "sign up" button in the sidebar on the left-hand side of the Ao3 page. You have until signups close on September 7th (10pm EST), to get your signup filled out. You can edit your signup after you submit it, so feel free to get a minimum signup done and then tinker with it during signups.

To sign up you fill out your Requests (what you are saying you'd be okay for people to give you as a gift), and your Offers (what you are saying you'd be able to make to give someone else as a gift), and submit it. You use tags from a special event tag set to fill out your offers and requests, and you'll only be able to use the tags in the tag set for the event. The tag set contains fandoms, ships, characters, worldbuilding tags, and gift types ("mediums"), all of which you use to refine your requests and offers to make sure you are signing up with exactly the type of gift you want to get or make in mind (with a bit of mystery still, part of the fun of the exchange is the challenge and surprise of it all).

Tag set?

Hopefully you heard about FIAB early enough that you were part of the nomination process where we built the tag set, where anyone could nominate their ships or worldbuilding ideas or fandoms. But maybe you just heard about it and you didn't nominate any tags— can you still participate? Yes! There are two options! First one: check out the tag set here, and if there are any ships that you like, smack those into a signup and you're good to go!

Second option: FIAB accepts late nominations if they are tags that you imminently intend to use in your signup. You need to format them in such a way that we can batch load them into the tag set, and you need to submit them through a comment on the designated Dreamwidth Blog Post— check out this post for more information and an example in the comments of what a submission would look like. You do not need a dreamwidth account to comment on the post, you can comment anonymously! Late nominations closes 6 days before signups close.

What if I only like one ship in the tag set, or at all? What if I like several ships, but only one fandom?

If you only like one tag in the tag set you still have a minimum viable signup, and you can sign up with just the one fandom, one ship! However, there are two points of order for that.

The first point is about your offers. You must be matchable to at least one person to get an assignment and stay in the exchange. If we can't give you an assignment, we'll contact you to ask about adding more offers, and if it ends up we cannot match you to anyone, your sign up will be deleted. So you need to be offering something that at least one person is requesting when the exchange closes and locks. You can look at all current signups here to see if there's anyone you can add an offer to, to make yourself matchable! It's best practice to offer at least three different fandoms to make yourself matchable— but if you have only one fandom you main you can still sign up, as long as you're matchable! (And pro tip, even if it comes down to the last few hours and you're not matchable, don't delete your signup! There's always a flurry of signups in the last few hours of the exchange, and someone from your fandom might still sign up.)

The second point is about your requests. If your original gifter drops out (life happens! People's lives blow up, computers break, people leave fandoms, etc.), the mods will put your assignment up for a Pinch Hit on the blog. That way people who want to take on an extra assignment can claim it and still write you a gift! If you have three or more unique fandoms in your requests, the mods will hold the entire exchange until someone has turned in a gift for you— nobody gets their gift until everybody gets a gift. However, if you have less than three requests you are still welcome to sign up, and you will still be posted as a pinch hit if something happens to your original gifter, but the mods won't hold the exchange for you if you only have one or two fandoms, so you might not get a gift. There is a dedicated group of pinch hitters who will do their best to make sure that everyone gets a gift, but you do run the risk of no gift if you sign up with a restricted list of offers.

I can't write 10k of fic, but I could do 10k's worth of art— what do I do?

The standard assumption is that everyone gets 10k of fic by default, and everyone signs up to make 10k of fic by default. But this is a special unique exchange, and we love to have people participating who are not fic writers. How does that work? You do not specify that you are a non-fic-writer in your signup, because that would break Ao3's matching. The mods match you manually— as long as they know that they have to do that. So you have to let them know that you want to give a non-fic gift.

The username you are signing up with.

A list of usernames of participants who are requesting something you can make, and what relationship/character/WB: tag and medium tag(s) you are aiming for.

It will look something like:

I would like to be matched to either CarthagoDelendaEst (for the tags Chara & Flowey & Toriel (Undertale), and Medium Opt-In: Audio - Podfic of any of my fics that match this request's fandom/relationships), or Clif_Bar (for the tags Padme Amidala & Royal Handmaidens (SWPT) or WB: Prequels-Era Jedi Culture (SWPT) and Medium Opt-In: Audio - Podfic), or ThingsForgotten (for the tags Billy Brennan/Alan Grant (Jurassic Park OT) or WB: Effect of Dinosaur Reveal on Careers of Academics (Jurassic Park OT), and Medium Opt-In: Audio - Podfic). Thanks, let me know if there are any issues!

We need the info about relationship-field tags and medium tags not because you will be obligated to create that exact thing, but because we will double check during matching that the recipient we’re matching you to hasn’t, for example, removed the medium you said you can create from their request. We do not want to give you an assignment you cannot actually complete.

You do not need to have multiple options on the list you send the mods— as long as there's one person you're matchable to, you're matchable and we can assign you! It is a somewhat safer idea to have multiple options so you know you're still matchable even if someone changes their signup at the last minute, but technically one option is all you need.

And how do you get the information to put in the letter about who you're matchable to? That would be searching through the automagic app, which is a searchable database of everyone who's signed up, which lets you sort by medium tags and fandoms! Check there to find people requesting podfic/poetry/art/spreadsheets/fibercraft/cocktail instructions/video/whatever your art form is!

Honestly I'm still baffled/I'm staring at this Ao3 box and it is swimming in front of my eyes/What on Earth is a medium tag and how many do I need:

The system for signing up is pretty complex, especially if you haven't done it before. That's why we set up a discord server with a bunch of experienced people who are happy to answer questions! If you join the server, look for the #event-questions channel and we would be happy to explain anything you need, from "how do I sign up for an Ao3 account" to "why is my signup yelling at me when I save it" to "what's the difference between these two medium tags and do I need them both"? We are all standing ready to answer questions, hit us up!

yeah sure, i'll tell you something that repeatedly pisses me off to no end:

when catra haters say this type of dialogue is a good example of her "abuse"

it's lighthearted affection, playful bantering! many friends bully each other this way all the time for the laughs; i know i always have and nobody minded!

some people may not like it, and that's fine, you don't have to! but your opinion does not change how the characters canonically feel about it. if adora happily takes it without strife and understands the intention in the moment, then there is no issue. you could argue that she calls herself an idiot the episode after she rescues catra from prime's ship, but i genuinely believe that's just a result of her being too harsh toward herself all the time anyway without any influence from catra. even when she didn't have to worry about her as an enemy throughout her average days in bright moon, she still kept that weight burdened on her shoulders regardless.

such an example of the criticism i'm referring to is someone complaining in this reddit post, albeit not necessarily from an anti since they seem to simply not understand and therefore disapprove based on their own personal feelings about the situation among the replies. there's also this comment, which adds some objective truth to catra's partial-insult.

as another individual pointed out, throughout the first seasons it came from more of a "duh! how do you not get it?" condescending attitude (think of adora's final revelation in 01x02 that the horde was evil while catra had known her whole life, and later on in 03x03 when catra points out how silly it sounds to admit you'd listen blindly to anything an old hologram has to say ─ even if it did happen to be correct), but i also added that when it comes to season five it originates more from a place of concern, hence upholding her half of the promise for the two of them to look out for each other at all times. if adora lacks so much awareness, she'll constantly end up in dangerous situations, and that's exactly what eventually ended up happening when she followed shadow weaver's manipulated guidance to accept the failsafe.

it drains so much energy from me to give this bad-faith argument any attention so hopefully i'll only have to do it this once. it's not worth getting frustrated over so don't waste your time trying to convince reactionaries that this trait of all things is what makes her such a terrible person.

I know you’ve said you’re fine with Hayffie headcanons being proven false with sunrise on the reaping, but will you still ship them do you think? Sorry, I’m really new to thg fandom and I absolutely love Hayffie, I have a tendency to get anxious about my ships, love your writing, etc XD. I’m just hoping that they don’t have an epilogue section that says something like ‘and haymitch spent the rest of his life by himself in twelve with the kids’ thereby making it impossible for Effie to live there with him canonically, tho I suppose they could still date long distance. omg friend u do NOT have to worry, i will continue to ship hayffie and write hayffie for as long as i physically can. they are like my oldest hyperfixation and they're not going anywhere in my mind.

that being said, i've seen a lot of hayffie people expressing anxiety about haymitch&HisGirl and haymitch&maysilee entering the general public mindset and i simply... do not agree. if anything, i think maysilee and haymitch will have a distinctly platonic bond and if some people interpret that as romantic, that's fine! that's fandom baby! and i've always been an advocate for haymitch well and truly loving His Girl. part of what makes hayffie interesting for me is the later-in-life-second-love part of it. i don't think haymitch having genuine earnest feelings for His Girl in SOTR will take away from hayffie in any way, shape, or form. and, honestly, i think the idea that haymitch can't fall in love with two seperate women over the course of like 40 years is kinda ridiculous. if anything, i think us seeing haymitch canonically engaging with his romantic feelings has the potential to make hayffie even more delicious!!!

as for a possible epilogue, i am also not that worried tbh. whatever happens happens. i'm still going to keep writing hayffie in the same way. i'll just have to start adding the "canon divergence" tag to all my post-war fics lol.

Summary: When Gawain Robards asks him to form Special Branch seven-four-alpha, Harry Potter knows they'll have to work outside the confines of the law--even though they are the law.

Excerpt:

The Centre's empty when he reaches it. Unsurprising, given the hour, but Draco's still relieved. He makes his way to the Auror showers, feeling less anxious than he has since yesterday. With a cheerful whistle on his lips, he pushes open the door to the locker room.

Potter's there.

Naked. Lying on a bench, legs on either side, his towel beneath him, eyes closed. His glasses are on top of a pile of folded clothes, his dark hair's still damp and curling from the shower. His cock is soft, curled between his spread thighs.

Draco draws up short, his hand still on the door, holding it open. Fuck, his mind says, and, judging from the shiver that goes through his body, it agrees, perhaps not in the same way.

Potter's eyes open at Draco's sharp breath; he turns his head. "Hi," he says, but he doesn't bother to cover himself.

"Sorry," Draco says with a stammer, and he turns to go. He can't do this. He won't. He needs to get out. Now.

"Wait."

Draco hesitates, then looks back at Potter. He's sitting up now, broad shoulders hunched just a bit, cock still on display between his thighs. His dark hair's falling across his forehead, into his eyes. "What?" Draco asks, doing his best to sound as imperious as he can. It's not enough; Potter's mouth twitches to one side.

"Just so you know, your stealth charm is shit," Potter says, and Draco stills, horror seeping through him. "I mean, relatively speaking. You were still better than most of the lads out there yesterday, but you can't really hold it entirely when you're…" Potter hesitates, then smiles, a bright flash of teeth. "Otherwise occupied."

I was so torn about having my excerpt be a sexy one, because it felt kind of reductive with a series that is 1.2 million words so far (longer than the actual HP series!) and full of incredible lore, worldbuilding and some of the best character exploration I've ever read. BUT, it's also femme, which means there are also countless delicious smoking hot sex scenes (hello, Midsummer's Eve al fresco sex scene that's lived in my head for five years), and the bottom line is that I want you all to read the fic, so. Basically, this series follows an Auror Special Branch, headed by Harry Potter, now senior in the force, and otherwise comprised of Draco, Pansy and Blaise. There are many side characters, including the delicious Jake Durant (a Legilimens from MACUSA, and Harry's long-distance boyfriend at the start of the second fic) who you'll end up shipping so hard with [redacted] that you're as excited for that as for the Drarry. The getting together is exquisite, with Harry's seniority at work and the need to keep it a secret adding extra tension and bite to the relationship. The first fic in the series is 15k, and works excellently as a one-shot, but hopefully will whet your appetite for more. The series is on hold at present, but don't let that put you off - stopping after the third fic works pretty well, imo, though femme's posted some hopeful recent updates, and actually I loved the fic so much that I just feel grateful to have been able to read what's already posted. HUGE rec. Anyone got a spare month coming up, this is totally what you should do with it :D

RWBY Evermorrow Ep.7 Director's Commentary (or something)

The newscast segment was a late addition, we decided it was best to move a scene to a later episode for a better sense of narrative. I even already animated that whole scene so we don't need to worry about it!

We were gonna use Lisa Lavender here, but decided it was better to use Cyril due to availability of existing cast members as the scene was kind of last minute. We see it as Cyril being the guy in the studio, and Lisa being the reporter in the field.

Khaki's prison number is funny if you can decipher it.

Originally this episode was a big ol scene of RWBYCRDL recounting the mission to Oz and Glynda, then the punishments being dished out, but I was having such a dull time writing it that we decided it was best to cut the recap of the immediate previous episode and hope the teams' reactions did the work. I think it was for the best, a glorified recap episode seems like it would've been a waste of production; if it wasn't fun to write it wouldn't have been fun to watch.

It was a good time to bring in Glynda as she's always been Beacon's voice of reason around Oz's more whimsical tendencies. She's to-the-point and will make no excuses, which sells the teams being reprimanded more. Plus the added questioning of what exactly Ozpin is saying to Cardin offscreen is an interesting question in the viewer's mind.

(Also our Ozpin VA was kinda unavailable but for a very good reason lol)

Let's talk Dove. You've probably noticed he's very much the reasonable one on EM CRDL at this point, which is very intentional as going in I wanted to make them more interesting than Cardin and the Cardins. CRWBY once said Dove was the most skilled of CRDL, which is an interesting angle, and Doves are a symbol of peace which inspired me to make him the """nicer""" one, albeit a bit embittered by his lot in life. This episode has a montage of the moments in ep5-6 that really lay it all out that he's a little better than the others on his team, which is why Ruby vouched for him.

There was going to be a decent focus on family in this episode, but eventually we whittled it down to just Russel's and Dove's. Being like "oh and here's a character's parent being funny and mad" worked twice, but three to eight times might have gotten old lmao

Why did I pick Bertilak for Russel's guardian? Green. Mohawk. Moody. Not a big Faunus fan.

Okay so that's only part of it. Russel has been consistently portrayed as a bit of a doormat in EM, following Cardin's orders or deferring to the next biggest fish if he's not around. His actions around Bertilak imply that the latter is the source of all that behaviour.

Dove offers Ruby an "Olive Branch". I don't know if I can get more unsubtle than this.

Don't ship them they literally feel nothing about each other. That's canon.

Why did I pick Shopkeep for Dove's grandpa? Closed eyes, and Shopkeep is everywhere. That's literally the joke.

There were a few characters I really wanted to get involved sooner. Can you believe it took us till Ep7 for Ren or Nora to say anything? It felt good to have all of JNPR and OP(A)L fully animated in the same scene, and was fun to set up dynamics like Oscar being a fanboy, Alyx being a little shit and the two teams generally getting along.

In comparison to 6 this episode was a lot calmer and a lot more talk-y, but hopefully we managed to make it fun. The animators and VAs did amazing as always (the former has basically eclipsed my efforts at this point), and I'm looking forward to ep8 very much! Bigger and better!

Random things you should know about me before you follow (or if you need a good reason to block me)

I'm from Germany and I'm a published writer, currently working on my first novel (when I’m not writing fanfic, haha)

I'm autistic and living with an anxiety disorder born from childhood trauma. I went to therapy a few years ago and literally had to pick myself up from the floor and get my own life back. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask (friendly anons welcome)!

I'm a multishipper. And I mean that. If I see it and it sparks joy, I will ship it. I don't care if you don't like that ship. This space is and will always be free of ship bashing.

Right now I'm hyperfixating on 9-1-1. I also like Lone Star. Bucktommy has my heart right now and I relate to Tommy a lot, but I like all the other characters and ships too. I'm multi-everything at heart.

I often use writing to process things and I'm even planning to do an academic certificate in "Therapeutic Writing" this year (hopefully). I'm writing a lot of angst and I like to take the characters I relate to apart and then fix them again (not always). So there might be some heavy stuff in my fics. I try my best to tag everything correctly. If you ever miss a tag or a trigger warning, don't hesitate to tell me! I also don't mind people adding to my fics! <3

I'm also running for my mental health and I'm currently training for my first marathon in March after running 8 half marathons in 2024, just so you don't wonder if you see me posting about running 20 plus kilometres and then eating cake. 🍰

“Do you ever think we might see them…?” Young spider asks his sister at arms, Yewn. The young girl thinks about the question and shakes her head. “I don't think so, they are dead for a long time. It is like Jake said, good riddance” she replies. 

Both lay down on top of the old lab shack, staring up at the night sky. 

“They were bad guys, and killed a lot of the na’vi…” Spider says, convincing himself of certain feelings. 

“Exactly. So stop thinking about our dads, I bet they won't even care if they do come back from the dead” 

“Kid, you won't last another day if you don't eat, '' Lyle Wainfleet says. He bends down looking rather tired and slightly annoyed. 16 year old yewn just stared at him as if he was the worst shit on the entire planet. To which he is in her eyes.

“Fuck off” was all she says time and time again.

“Yewn-”

“Shut up, don't call me that. You have no right to call me that!” yewn yells at him in anger. A lot was happening in such a short time. Her friends were attacked and held hostage, went to help, spider’s mask broke, stayed behind to help him, only to be taken and be separated from him.

The room is cold, colder than the labs. Everything was so lifeless. She hated it.

But there is nothing more she hates, than the man, or dreamwalker in front of her.

“If you don't eat, you will die, '' Lyle tells her again. And again, yewn just hisses at him.

“Good, I would rather die than confess anything to you or that old bitch!”

Lyle rolls his eyes, hopefully quaritch has better luck than him.

Her plan was cut way too short. Spider took the lead in showing the recoms how to climb, run, and jump through the big vines and floating mountains. Spider was a true expert in that field, so yewn stayed a little more behind. By adding more pressure to the weak points of the vines, the goal was to tear some down but the recoms would step on them by their own body weight. Spider was doing the same, the plan was to have them all step in a weak vine so that they can fall to their deaths. 

Obviously that didn't work. 

Lyle was quick to catch what she and spider were doing. While he did not report to Quaritch what they were quietly doing, lyle took it upon himself to straighten the kids out. 

“If you want us dead, it will take a lot more than that” he tells Yewn. And yewn would take note of it. Next time, she will do better. 

“Getting the hang of it now” Lyle says as he flies on his ikran with yewn. The girl missed flying up high in the sky. The thrill of doing amazing tricks, how nete-

No, while Yewn is still in the human's custody, no thoughts of him will appear in her mind. Anything can happen and they can use whatever she accidently shares against her. 

Besides, there is something else occupying her mind and her full attention. 

“Come on bro! We have to get them, they are still on the ship!” Lo’ak pleads to neteyam. It didnt take much to convince the older brother, nodding eagerly, both head deeper to the ship to find their friends. All the while trying to avoid enemies all around. 

Quietly they climb up some pipes and hide, lo’ak points downwards to see spider and yewn being shoved somewhere. 

“We get it! We are going, fucking bastards” spider cusses at the humans behind him. Him and yawn look really annoyed, but oddly compliant. Taking the chance, the brothers jumped and began to attack the humans. 

Yewn and spider were surprised to see them but quickly catched on. Fighting as well, the four managed to take down the humans around them. Taking the weapons, neteyam, lo’ak, spider and yewn were armed and ran for the edge of the ship. 

“Come on, come on! We are almost there!” neteyam yells, shoving yewn forward until bullets were being shot. 

“GO GO GO!” spider yells, he and lo’ak jump first into the sea. But yewn and neteyam couldnt in time. 

“Yewn get back over here!” 

Neteyam turns to see a false avatar, his gun pointing at him. 

“I won't tell you again, come here now!” the fake shouted. Neteyam looks down and sees yewn shaking. Was it fear? Hesitance?

She was close to taking a step forward but neteyam stopped her. 

Yewn looks up at him, ready to cry. 

“Are you insane!? Lets go, he won't hurt you again” neteyam burgers her, shifting her closer to the edge but yewn fights back. “No no! You don't get it! I can't just leave him!” Yewn shouts. Her fear and desperation growing. 

“Yes you can, he hurt you!” neteyam shouts back. But yewn only looks back at lyle, their eyes making contact. Yewn knows he is silently pleading to go to him. That part yewn is afraid of. To go back to lyle means to go back to those horrid conditions the general had her go under. 

“No! I just cant leave him like this-” 

“And why the hell not?!” 

“BECAUSE HE IS MY DAD!!”

“Hey lyle-” 

“You know, you can call me dad if you like…” recom lyle informs yewn in an awkward way. Yewn looks up at him, almost in a disapproving look. There was a few seconds of silence before Yewn walked on the other side of the room, not continuing what she was going to say. 

Lyle walked over to see what she wanted to tell him. “Hey, im sorry, I thought that it-” 

“Would be easier for me? Think again, you are just forcing yourself. I will never call you dad. You don't deserve that title. Not now, not ever fuckface” Yewn states with disgust in her tone. Lyle sighed, hanging his head low. Just when he thought where was progress, he took 5 steps back.

“He is my dad….and I just cant leave him….” Yewn cries out to neteyam. This was massive news to him. But he concludes that staying in the massive prison was messing with yewns mind. Making her think things that are not true. 

If they weren't in such a situation, lyle would hug her and say sweet words in her ear. Finally yewn accepted him, but now there is a problem that lies between lyle and yewn. Just one bullet should be enough to take down that savage boy of Sully’s. 

“YEWN!” he calls to her, his daughter turns to look at him, her eyes distraught, not knowing what to do. 

“Please yewn, we are so close! Come on, he is not your dad! He is dead! I won't let you be surrendering to him or any evil sky demon!” Neteyam shouts loud enough for Lyle to hear. And it is ticking him off. 

Neteyam guide yewn close to the edge, their hearts racing. To calm her as he leads her to the edge, he places his hand on her shoulder, urging her more to jump. Neteyam can finally save her!

Yewn was looking down at the sea, her ears ringing. Could she go? Could she leave lyle and-

BANG!

Personal opinion:

(Absolutely no hate to other ships. This is just me loosing my mind at 2am for Grumbo ship. More of a mindless rant with more sadness than anything else.)

I need more Grumbo. None of this MumScarian shit. Just Grumbo. I don't wanna see anymore Scar added to the Grumbo ship. Just Grumbo. Please man. There's too much MumScarian shit. I want my old Grumbo bois back.

I look up that good Grumbo shit on ao3 and exclude all Scar from the ship and literally that cuts the amount of fan fiction on that tag in half. What do you mean there's only 10 active fan fictions of only Grumbo?! What do you mean almost all the Grumbo stories are discontinued!? NNNNUUUUUUUUUU!!!

I refuse to read the MumScarian or Scarian fan fictions. No no. I want my original Grumbo duo. I need it. They always base so close together man. Every season they get closer and closer. Bro they have children together. Grian has only said "I love you" to Mumbo, man. He's only ever made a summoning ritual for Mumbo. They're so desperate for each other.

Mumbo needs to step up his game dude. The more he and Grian interact the more hopefully Grumbo only fan fiction I'll see.

That was the first thing that should've alerted Fitz to Athena arriving.

As he stepped away from Dex, promising to 'greet the world with open arms,' time seemed to slow.

That was his second sign. As the goddess descended gracefully down in front of him, war helmet on as always, he'd expected congratulations for winning the war.

Or killing the infant.

"Athena!" he called out with a smile. It faltered after seeing her stormy expression.

"What is going on with you? Have you forgotten everything I've taught you?" She snapped. Fitz frowned. He couldn't think of anything he'd done that would've disappointed the goddess. "You've softened, Fitz. Let me remind you."

Athena waved her hands, and Fitz's vision darkened, and all he could feel was the whipping of cold wind.

Goddess of wisdom... master of war... the words seemed to echo through the blackness.

I had a challenge! A test of skill! The blackness dissapered with a flash of light, and Fitz found himself looking at a very familiar man.

But then a boy came, for the thrill! Fitz realized with a start that the man was him, only twenty years before.

He was watching his first meeting with Athena.

"Show yourself!" The younger Fitz called out, and, after a pause, added, hesitantly, "I can see you."

The air in front of his younger self rippled, and Athena appeared. She hadn't changed, Fitz realized, in style or ideals.

He watched the interaction, staring at himself fondly.

That Fitz didn't know about everything that was going to happen. He wasn't guilty. He didn't lie awake at night, thinking of everything he should have changed.

Why was Athena showing him this?

She'd said something about 'growing soft,' but he didn't understand how. Fitz had been to war—and killed so, so many people—what could've set this off?

"Don't be modest, I know you're a goddess, Athena." his younger self proclaimed with a self assured grin.

Athena straightened and offered little Fitz a hand, replying, "I'd be happy to be your mentor—"

"Or a friend?" Fitz interjected hopefully. Athena shrugged noncommittally.

"We'll see how it ends."

Another flash of light and scene changed again, to him and Athena walking down a dirt path that Fitz knew led to the sea.

He could remember them talking about changing the world and making everything better. At least that hadn't changed.

"Why are you showing me this?" Fitz yelled out over choruses of 'we are the warriors of the mind!'' "Athena?"

Everything faded to black once again, and Athena appeared in front of him.

"I still intend to help you, Fitz. Don't forget that you are a warrior of the mind. You need to focus and turn off your heart. Emotions complicate things. Your heart is not the decision maker. You are."

She stared down at him for five seconds, but Fitz couldn't bring himself to cower. He would prove himself to her, just like he always had.The ticking noise slowly faded and as Fitz could feel himself return back to the ship, Athena sent one last message.

Don't disappoint me...

Mable's RWBY Redo: Volume 1 + Trailers

Hello hello, and welcome to my own version of FRWBY, but hopefully without the controversy. But I wouldn't really call this a "fix it" fic or anything. More just a writing exercise where RWBY was more planned out than it actually was/is.

Since it does seem to me that RWBY was written quite a bit by the seat of CRWBY's pants, at least in the earlier volumes. How much that changed, I don't claim to know. But there are a few things in RWBY that probably would've more impactful if they were setup earlier. So, I'm going to try to do that.

I will be keeping most of the major concepts of RWBY the same. Dust, Grimm, impractical but flashy weaponry, the White Fang and that whole thing, Salem, etc. But just because I'm keeping the concept, doesn't mean there won't be changes in execution.

There are also a few things that where the plan seems to have shifted at some point. Like the Raven plotline for example, it seems like Monty was the only one who really knew what he planned to do with that. So I might be willing to go a bit more "off the rails" with that specifically and a few other things.

I'm also going to try to keep in mind the resources RT would've had at the time of each volume. So I won't be immediately changing things to 22 minute episodes with 16 episodes a season or something like that.

I am, mostly, going to be taking an episode by episode approach to this. Though I don't really have any experience with screen writing or what you can fit into a certain amount of runtime. So I'm not going to write out all the dialogue and things for most scenes. Just giving summaries and a few scenes of particular importance.

Though I think here would be a good time to respond to a few comments something like this might get.

No, I don't think I could've done better than CRWBY. No, I don't hate RWBY, I rather love it. No, I'm not going to sideline RWBY for a bunch of "straight white male" characters. No, I'm not going to erase all the LGBT representation. Yada yada yada. If you don't want to read something like this, you are more than welcome to block me or whitelist the tag. This is more or less just a fun writing exercise for me.

I'm doing the ships I want though.

So with that said, let's hop right in.

Trailers

The red and yellow trailers will be completely unchanged.

The white and black trailers will be unchanged as far as what happens in each trailer.

For the white trailer, the change won't really be to the trailer itself, but more so something that changes things post fall of beacon. The arma gigas fight didn't actually happen and that's not how Weiss got her scar. Why? One fan fic had her get the scar a different way and I like it more than the canon way.

That's really it.

For the black trailer, Blake's design is the only thing that's changing. Now, it's not going to be a complete redesign. Mostly because introducing the rest of RWBY but Blake with their canon outfits would kind of be weird and require a good bit of extra work. I'd imagine at least.

So I'm just going to have her not wear the bow, and with shorter hair. Not quite what she had in Atlas though, probably something closer to Kali's actually. And add some white fluff to her inner cat ears to make them a bit less... flat.

Now, that does remove the dramatic reveal that she's a faunus for the audience. But I think the dramatic irony of only the audience knowing that can make up for it. And the hair can be a bit of a rough signifier of how long between the black trailer and her appearance in V1 was.

And just for the in universe logic of Blake not looking exactly the same if she thinks Adam is going to be coming after her. It's not much of a change, but it is a change.

Volume 1

I'm not going episode by episode in V1, since there really isn't that much I want to change. But I will be shortening to the volume to 10 episodes instead of 16. With the volume ending after "Players and Pieces" with 2 more episodes added to initiation. Which I imagine will mostly just be added action and maybe some conversation.

The first major change is going to be that Jaune still doesn't have his aura unlocked, but he knows what aura is. Or, at least the 5 minutes of research on Remnant's version of google's version of what aura is. He's gonna be looking for a way to have it unlocked. Maybe add in a throwaway like where he wonders to himself if he should ask Ruby to do it.

The second major change is actually something we aren't going to see. The reason why Blake decided to make Yang her partner, since she does seem to purposely seek Yang out in canon but we never really hear the reason. But honestly I can't think of a good enough reason at the moment besides Yang knowing Blake's secret. So we'll just save that for a flashback later and have it implied there was a deeper reason for now.

Everything else pre-initiation should be the same.

Once we get to the cliffs before everything starts, CRDL will not be there. Since we aren't doing jaunedice yet there's no reason to have them yet. We'll also have it stated that there are multiple launch sites and have Ozpin say something along the lines of "of the 200 of you that will go into the forest today, only 50 of you will pass," to give us more of an idea of the size of the class. Though the numbers can be changed to whatever.

Then things get started, everyone partners up, Ren doesnt kill a king taijitu because power scaling. We see Ruby and maybe a few others cutting through the unarmored beowolves, adolescent beowolves to be precise, with relative ease and start to struggle once the armored ones start showing up. To help with the power scaling a bit.

Jaune convinces Pyrrha to help "boost" his aura so he can heal faster. Pyrrha knows that's not how that works but goes along with it anyways. With her having some suspicions of Jaune, but not confronting him about it since... you know.

Everything else in initiation should be pretty much the same. Maybe with an extra fight scene or two. Ruby and Jaune are still named leaders. But we do get a small scene afterwards with both teams heading to their dorms which are of course, right across the hall from each other.

So, a bit after sundown the two teams go into their dorms, with Ruby and Jaune deciding to stay out for a second for a quick chat.

The two new leaders stand in front of their dorms, neither of them saying a word for a moment before Jaune decided to speak.

Jaune: You running up that that cliffside to kill that giant bird grimm was probably the coolest thing I've ever seen.

Ruby: You mean the Evermore? *Jaune nods* Well, it was nothing really... I just saw an opportunity and took it. You know?

Jaune: I guess.

Ruby: But your team took down the Deathstalker, right? I bet that was super cool too.

Jaune: Everyone else did all the work. I kind of just stood there hiding behind my shield.

Ruby: But Pyrrha said you were the one who figured out how to take it down.

Jaune: Yeah, but-

Ruby: No buts! Besides, a good plan can be the difference between life and death sometimes. At least that's what my Uncle Qrow says.

Ruby: That's probably why Professor Ozpin made you a leader.

Jaune: *Rub the back of his head* Yeah... Heh, maybe he made you a leader since you're so good a pep talks.

Ruby: I guess...

JR: ...

Ruby: ...We've been training most of our lives to fight Grimm and bad guys. Maybe learning how to be leaders won't be so hard, right?

Jaune: ...Right.

*RWBY's dorm door opens*

Yang: Hey, Rubes, what are you still doing out here?

Ruby: Just talking to Jaune.

Yang: *Looks at Jaune* Vomit Boy.

Jaune: Can you please not call me that?

Yang: Not until you unruin my boots. *Turns back to Ruby* Now come on, we need our leader, and my favorite little sister, to pick who gets the bed closest to the bathroom.

Ruby: Oh, okay. I'll see you tomorrow Jaune.

Jaune: *smiles* Have a good night, Ruby.

Ruby: *Goes into her dorm with Yang*

Jaune: *Soon after Ruby shuts her dorm door Jaune's smile turns into a look of pure guilt as he stands silent in the dimly lit hallway*

And that's the end of volume 1. Not sure when I'll get to the next volume, but it'll be sometime soon. V2 should be more detailed, and will probably end up being longer than one post.

"I hate that his relationship gets more attention than his talent" -- it really doesn't though.

I think on social media it may seem like that. But outside of accounts dedicated to Austin, most people that speak of him do speak on his career and talent. You'd be surprised how many people don't care about Kaia or even know who she is. I see it on twitter and reddit all the time.

If you're looking for gossip about Austin and Kaia or following people who talk about it, it can be consuming. Then it seems like that's all anyone talks about. But it's a small fraction.

I will say, Austin and Kaia haven't done themselves any favors because I do think they both added fuel to the break up speculation fire. So it gets people talking. On both sides.

But once Austin is busy doing press again, whether it's for Eddington or possibly award season for Dune. He will be the main focus. Even if he and Kaia are still together, try not to let it bother y'all.

I definitely think that if you stay on Twitter, or even just a certain segment of Twitter, social media, or The Daily Mail🙄, it can sort of seem like all people tend to talk about wrt Austin is his relationship. But I agree with you, I think that most people in the general public recognize Austin's talent and kindness, and care more about him as an actor in the industry. 🥰

I could be wrong, but I think the former Anon was mostly referring to Austin's actual fandom though, not just casual observers of his work, but actual fans of Austin. I think that's why they mentioned that they were thinking of leaving his fandom.

I can kind of see why the Anon would get that impression. I think you and I are basically saying the same thing lol, that outside of accounts dedicated to Austin, most people in the general public tend to focus on his career and talent, and don't even think about or care about who he's dating.

Those are outsiders though. We're his fans. We are going to care not only about Austin's work and talent, but also about him as a person, about his relationships, how happy he appears to be, etc. I think when you step into fan territory, you start to care more than the average person about certain things. You start to have a deeper appreciation for the actor that goes beyond just their work.

So I can see why fans care about these things. I think the problem though is that many fans don't really like him with KG, and her behavior (especially as of late) isn't really endearing people to her. Then, there's also the shippers who have basically bullied, gaslit, and tried to beat non-shippers into silence and submission over this relationship just because some fans don't want to ship them, or don't like them together. That adds a lot of contention in the fandom.

I kind of feel like if Austin were dating an actress who was more likeable, and who he seemed really happy with, then most fans wouldn't really mind him with her, or care that she is brought up. Think about it, if Austin were in a very cute, seemingly normal relationship, where they both looked smitten with each other, and the woman was a good woman for him, do you really think fans would be so torn or divided over his relationship? I don't think so.

I think the issue is that KG seems like an opportunist, a clout chaser, seems to be a bit spoiled, out of touch with reality, doesn't have any acting talent, appears to be getting roles and other things handed to her (that most actors have had to work years for) due to being a nepobaby, seems to only be dating Austin for attention and clout, and Austin doesn't even seem happy with her! I think that's mostly the issue.

But once Austin is busy doing press again, whether it's for Eddington or possibly award season for Dune. He will be the main focus. Even if he and Kaia are still together, try not to let it bother y'all.

That's true! I almost forgot about the Dune: Part 2 awards season. 😃 We might be seeing Austin at (hopefully!) one event or two?

I would love to see him presenting an award at the Golden Globes or at the Oscars. That would be awesome. 😁

I think we just have to ride this wave unfortunately. 🌊 But like most waves, it will eventually disappear.

ah hello! I really love the skz concert freebies you made a few weeks ago, they're super cute! I love making freebies/doing merch swaps too, but i haven't seen homemade merch that looks as clean as yours before- I was wondering if you had any suggestions or links to tutorials for making freebies like those that you wouldn't mind sharing?

omg yeah! I don't really have links to any tutorials I just kinda winged it- Highly recommend looking up "kpop freebies" on pinterest, theyres some cute ones on there for inspo!

My printer doesn't work very well, so I went to the kmart print centre where they have 10c photo paper prints and for the small heart and mini keychains usually about 6 little pictures would fit on a 6 x 4 photo print. So I just mocked up a bunch of random pictures of the boys and then snipped them down to size- having multiple pics on a single piece made it cheaper, too. Also did the art prints there but just got a lil bigger size. Going to some place that has a self print machine is 100% the idea bc those printers work every time and the quality is always decent. I also wanted the backs to be cute so I bought some contact paper, like the kind you apply to school books and stuck that to the backs of pics + snipped down to size and then added a sticker... Which I think turned out cute! Also matching stickers to the pictures was fun, as well. I also had a bunch of sanrio stickers to begin with lol

As for the keychains themselves I just got them at the superdollar near my house but I'm sure you could find them on pretty much any website- I also saw cute mini cd jewel case keychains which would have been fun, too, but I didnt think they'd ship here in time otherwise I'd probably have made lil mini cds lol

sorry if this wasnt very helpful, i kinda left my freebie making to the last minute so if there's one piece of advice I'd probably say- !!Don't make 60ish keychains the week before the concert!! lol Next time if nmixx or something comes here I would def try and give myself a month or two to slowly put them together. Oh and adding a little tassle or charm does increase the cuteness factor exponentially, so i recommend that! Oh and also Random advice: depending on how many you make, i would recommend getting a little key clips to carry them on for ease of access,

bc I had them seperated per member and didnt want them to fall off, etc. OR I also had a few little packs inside cute little ziplock bags-

which is an idea too- but the little sheer gift bags would work well, too I think. For the ziplocks though I really just typed "cute ziplock bags" or something and Lots of options came up!
