If you feel like you went a little ham this weekend and need a good workout to kick your 🍑 back into gear…this is the workout! 😅 ⁉️ My friend just turned me onto DR. DEATH PODCAST… has anyone else listened to it?! 😲 SO crazy! Only about 4 episodes in and my mouth has probably hit the floor 10 times already! Definitely recommend if you’re into crime podcasts! 🔥 A few exercises from today’s Glute and Abduction lower body workout: 1️⃣ Bulgarian split squat: A little tip, position yourself on the ground first and then stand up! 2️⃣ Hip thrusts 3️⃣ Weighted lying side leg raises: We incorporated a number of abductor exercises but I definitely felt the burn with these! Give them a try! 4️⃣ Plié squat to toes: Try these out during commercial breaks when you’re watching Netflix! Squeeze the glutes at the top. 5️⃣ Weighted skater lunges: Perform controlled. You don’t always have to rush through a movement! There is a time and place for that too! I help women get their bodies back after having kids.❤️ I know all about it, I have 3 kids myself and I dedicated my life and businesses to fitness. I am fortunate enough to be in this space, however I know plenty of fitness coaches who are not in a healthy lifestyle space. It needs to come from all levels. This is why I've been helping moms and busy business women fit in fitness and health. It's not the easiest for some because it's usually the one aspect of living that gets the least attention over building a business and raising kids. This has opened my eyes and my business to help women in this situation of overwhelm and to help them introduce self-care without the guilt. Knowing that the family will survive and the Business will not fail, if 30min 3x a week we're dedicated to self-care in the way of a workout......but that your family and business will thrive because of it. In and around all this is the cycling aspect, as more and more of these moms and busy business women get into cycling as a way to get healthy, strength and healthy eating can't be forgotten, just because you got on a bike. Unlock Tight Hips Circuit!! 🔒 ‼️LIKE and SAVE this one to help deactivate your hip flexors and get your abs firing! 🔥 People who sit for extended periods of time (so pretty much the majority of us!) increase our chances in developing tight hip flexors (me!). When hip flexors are tight, we can experience pain in the lower back and hips. Ideally you should take a couple minutes everyday and do this circuit and see if it helps with lower back pain! Lower back pain can be cause by a number of different things, but tight hip flexors could be one of them. This circuit includes stretches and exercises that relax and strengthen the hip flexors to allow us to have proper recruitment patterns and get our abs firing when they should. Do those movements on a daily basis, low intensity and just practice connecting to your abs! CIRCUIT 2-3X THROUGH ❤‍🔥 1⃣ Pelvic Thrust: 10 reps (it’s okay to have a natural arch) press back against the floor and engage abs holding 3-6 seconds. 2⃣ Hip Flexor Stretch: 30 seconds each side 3⃣ Cat Cow: 10 reps 4⃣ Alternating Bird Dog: 10 reps 5⃣ Deactivated Hip Flexor Ab Crunch: 10 reps keep hips around 1 inch off the floor and engage glutes when doing this. ⁉️Is it just me, but all my students seemed really off today!!! Anybody else’s students or kids?! ⚠️Don't forget, 4 workouts this week to enter to win! LOWER BODY DAY! 🔥 We had a few more single set's than usual this week for leg day. Single sets are important and effective in increasing strength/muscle. Allows us to really focus on the exercise itself. A few exercises from today's workout! 10 reps each. 🎉 1️⃣Dumbbell Bench Hip Thrust: Place a dumbbell in the crease of your hips. shins should be at a 90 degree angle. 2️⃣Lateral Slide Upright Row 3️⃣Resistance Band Glute Kickback: Keeping one leg firmly planted on the ground, extend the other leg backwards and upwards to hip height. Your foot should remain flexed and your toes point down towards the floor. Squeeze your glute at the top. (I used a band that was fairly resistant so I did not need to bring it up to hip height). 4️⃣Goblet Squat: This exercise is a great full body exercise. Keep weight against chest, close to your body. This is best done with a kettlebell but a dumbbell can used as well. 5️⃣Dumbbell Step Up: Great exercise as it can save your lower back and creates minimal stress on the knee. BACK DAY!!! 💪🏼🔥 Back day is usually my least favorite, but I think this just might have been my favorite workout this week!!! I enjoyed them all of course, but just got into the zone with this one! 😅 A few of todays BACK AND CHEST day workout made into a back circuit!!! Give this a try, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed! ⁉3X THROUGH: 10 reps each! 1⃣ Resistance band pull apart: Think about squeezing together your shoulder blades (scapula) as if there is a pencil between them or someone poking you in the back. 2⃣ Sumo deadlift: Your legs do not have to be touching the bar. Aim to be about 1/2 -1 inch away from the bar. Toes should be in line with your knee. Toes do not have to be straight forward. Point both feet slightly outward. To keep your hips safe you want the toes to follow the line of your knees. 3⃣ Single arm bent over row: Elbows should remain in close contact with the side of your body. Think about pulling your elbow back. 4⃣ Barbell row: Bend your elbows to bring the barbell in towards your lower ribs. You should feel a small squeeze between your shoulder blades. 5⃣ Bent over rear delt raise: Hinge forwards from your hips to lower your chest towards your thighs. So...... this is unrelated to fitness, but it’s TOTALLY self care! During this #stayhome order, I’ve had to tweeze my own eyebrows, give myself a facial, and do my own nails. Round one of the eyebrows was pretty bad. 😕 Thank God for brow pencils. 😳 This second time was a little better, still thankful for eyebrow pencils... lol. On to the nails... I soaked my gel nails off, painted them with regular polish, they chipped the next day. Over it. But I bought some press on nails and glued them on. Amazing!!! Why did I stop doing this in the 90’s???? So I don’t know who needs to hear this: Press on nails will get you right until we can go to the shop! Are home workouts as effective as gym workouts? The answer is absolutely… depending on what your goals are. 😁 If your goal is to torch fat, gain & tone muscle, improve endurance, and get healthy, then Metabolic Resistance Training (MRT) is the perfect formula for your home workouts. What is MRT? It involves performing a sequence of exercises with a resistance (dumbbells, resistance bands, bodyweight) with little to no rest in between movements. This is commonly known as HIIT training, circuit training, supersets, etc. Light to moderate weight with higher rep ranges (12-20+) is ideal for MRT. If using an interval timer, work/rest ratios of 20/10, 30/15, 40/20, 45/15 are most commonly found in your fitness classes at the gym, and for good reason. The intensity of MRT greatly increases your EPOC (excess post-exercise oxygen consumption). This basically means that your body will burn a TON of calories in a shorter period of time during your workout, and it will continue to be a fat torching machine for hours afterward. So can home workouts be effective?
