Why Treadmill Maintenance is Crucial for Long-Term Performance
Regular maintenance is essential to ensure your treadmill operates smoothly, safely, and effectively over its lifespan. Here’s why prioritizing treadmill maintenance is important:
1. Optimal Performance
Regular maintenance helps preserve the treadmill's performance capabilities. Tasks such as lubricating the belt, cleaning the deck, and inspecting the motor ensure smooth operation and prevent issues like belt slippage or motor strain. This ensures a consistent and enjoyable workout experience every time you use the treadmill.
2. Extended Lifespan
Proper maintenance significantly extends the lifespan of your treadmill. By addressing wear and tear promptly and keeping components in good condition, you reduce the risk of premature breakdowns or costly repairs. Regular maintenance also protects your investment in fitness equipment, maximizing its value over time.
3. Safety Assurance
A well-maintained treadmill is safer to use. Regular inspections and adjustments help identify and address potential safety hazards, such as loose bolts, frayed belts, or malfunctioning electronics. This reduces the risk of accidents or injuries during workouts, ensuring a safe exercise environment for users.
4. Cost Savings
Routine maintenance is more cost-effective than repairing or replacing damaged treadmill components. Preventative measures, such as cleaning and lubricating, help prevent major issues that could require expensive repairs or replacement parts. By investing in regular maintenance, you minimize downtime and reduce long-term repair costs.
5. Preservation of Warranty
Following the manufacturer's maintenance guidelines helps preserve the warranty coverage of your treadmill. Many warranties require regular maintenance to remain valid. Adhering to these guidelines ensures you can take advantage of warranty protections if unexpected issues arise with your treadmill.
6. Improved Resale Value
A well-maintained treadmill retains higher resale value if you decide to upgrade or sell it in the future. Potential buyers are more likely to invest in a treadmill that has been properly cared for and maintained, reflecting its reliability and longevity.
Conclusion
Prioritizing treadmill maintenance is essential for optimizing performance, extending lifespan, ensuring safety, saving costs, preserving warranty coverage, and maintaining resale value. By incorporating regular maintenance into your fitness equipment care routine, you enhance your treadmill's overall reliability and functionality for years to come.

Best Home Treadmill with Incline: Your Ultimate Fitness Partner
In today's fast-paced world, maintaining a consistent workout routine can be challenging. However, having the right equipment at home can make all the difference. When it comes to cardio workouts, a treadmill stands out as one of the most effective and versatile machines. Among the various options available, the best home treadmill with incline offers a range of benefits that can help you achieve your fitness goals more efficiently. Let's explore why an incline treadmill should be your top choice for home fitness and how it can elevate your workout experience.
Why Choose a Home Treadmill with Incline?
1. Enhanced Calorie Burn
One of the primary benefits of using a treadmill with incline is the increased calorie burn. By walking or running on an incline, you engage more muscle groups, particularly in your lower body. This added effort results in a higher calorie expenditure, making your workouts more effective for weight loss and overall fitness.
Tumblr media
2. Improved Cardiovascular Health
Incline training helps improve cardiovascular health by increasing the intensity of your workouts. This heightened intensity forces your heart to work harder, which can enhance your cardiovascular endurance and reduce the risk of heart-related issues. Regular use of a treadmill with incline can lead to significant improvements in your heart health over time.
3. Strengthened Muscles
Using an incline treadmill targets different muscle groups than flat-surface running or walking. It primarily works your calves, hamstrings, glutes, and quads. By varying the incline levels, you can customize your workouts to focus on specific muscle groups, leading to balanced and strengthened muscles throughout your lower body.
4. Joint-Friendly Workouts
Running or walking on an incline can be gentler on your joints compared to outdoor surfaces. The cushioned deck of a treadmill provides better shock absorption, reducing the impact on your knees and ankles. This makes incline treadmills a great option for individuals with joint concerns or those recovering from injuries.
5. Versatility and Customization
The best home treadmills with incline come equipped with various preset programs and customizable options. You can adjust the incline and speed to match your fitness level and goals. Whether you're looking for a challenging uphill climb or a gentle walk, an incline treadmill allows you to tailor your workout to your specific needs.
Features to Look for in the Best Home Treadmill with Incline
1. Adjustable Incline Levels
A top-quality treadmill should offer a range of incline levels, allowing you to increase the intensity of your workouts gradually. Look for models that provide both manual and automatic incline adjustments for added convenience.
2. Sturdy Construction
Durability is crucial for home fitness equipment. Ensure that the treadmill you choose has a robust frame and a high weight capacity to accommodate different users. A sturdy construction also ensures the machine's longevity, making it a worthwhile investment.
3. User-Friendly Console
A user-friendly console with clear display metrics is essential for tracking your progress. Features like heart rate monitoring, calorie tracking, and workout programs can enhance your exercise experience and keep you motivated.
4. Spacious Running Surface
A spacious running surface ensures comfort and safety during your workouts. Opt for a treadmill with a wide and long belt to accommodate different stride lengths and running styles.
5. Quiet Operation
Noise can be a concern, especially if you plan to use the treadmill at home. Look for models with quiet motors and smooth operation to minimize disruptions while you exercise.

Treadmill for Home: The Ultimate Guide to Home Treadmill
Treadmill for Home: We receive free products and commissions through our links. See the disclosures page.
A treadmill can be an invaluable piece of home gym equipment. The best treadmill for home gyms provides an opportunity to train cardiovascular health, and research has proven that cardio training comes with endless benefits, such as lowering blood pressure, weight management, and eliminating the onset of diabetes. (1) Although many might argue using a treadmill isn’t as effective as running or walking outdoors, an at-home treadmill provides year-long opportunities to train with various inclines that emulate different types of terrain.
With the recent surge in technological advancements, finding the right treadmill might require more effort than you think. Purchasing the wrong treadmill might lead to frustrating or ineffective workouts, or it might not fit your space. This article will discuss our top picks for at-home treadmills, highlighting key features that will help you find the right one.
How We Chose the Best Treadmill for Home
Several of the treadmills we review below are ones we’ve tried in our testing facility in Springfield, MO. Out of the nearly four dozen available treadmills, we narrowed it down to what we feel are the eight best machines.
When making our selections, we aimed to cater to a diverse range of users, including elite athletes and casual exercisers. We included treadmills with a justifiable price point while accommodating high- and low-intensity workouts. Some of our treadmills came with a heavy price tag but also had top-of-the-line features and characteristics, such as interactive programming and auto-fold technology.
Because these treadmills are intended for a home gym, they must be compatible with most spaces. To that end, some machines on the list below fold up for storage and have a condensed footprint. Another factor we considered was durability, so you can maximize the value of your investment while minimizing the need for frequent repairs or replacements.
Our Top Picks for the Best Treadmills for Home
Best Treadmill for Home Overall: NordicTrack Commercial 1750
NordicTrack Commercial 1750 Treadmill
Overall dimensions: 80” L x 38” W x 65” H
Deck size: 60” L x 20” W
Max speed: 12 miles per hour
Max incline: 12 percent
Decline: -3 percent
Programming: iFit (free for 30 days, then $39 per month)
Motor: 3.5 CHP motor
Weight capacity: 300 pounds
Check Price
Pros
Powerful motor
14-inch tilted interactive touchscreen
Inclines and declines
SpeedSaver foldable design
Trainer-led iFIT workouts
Auto-adjust technology
Cons
Difficult assembly
iFit membership expires after 30 days unless you decide to renew
The NordicTrack Commercial 1750 wins the award for the best home gym treadmill. Its reputation stems from its stellar list of high-end features for high- or low-intensity workouts. This smart treadmill provides a powerful 3.5 CHP (continuous horsepower) motor, allowing you to run at a top speed of 12 miles per hour. It also has an impressive decline and incline range, going down to a negative three-percent decline or up to a 12-percent incline to emulate different terrain, such as roads running at different elevations.
Its 14-inch tilted interactive HD touchscreen allows you to perform trainer-led workouts through iFIT, an expansive on-demand library of over 1,000 activities. It includes a variety of programs, from high-intensity interval training (HIIT) sessions to yoga practices. It’s like having your own trainer. However, it costs around $39 monthly after a 30-day free trial.
When exercising, the 1750 uses SmartAdjust technology to adapt to your performance, making each session personalized and efficient. SmartAdjust is a unique technology that keeps track of the changes to your NordicTrack machine while working out. It remembers these changes and uses them later to help your device adapt to your training level for future workouts.
Furthermore, if you don’t have a lot of space in your home gym, you’ll likely appreciate that the 1750 folds up and has wheels, allowing you to quickly move it out of the way when you’re not using it.
These intuitive features come with an expensive price tag—the 1750 starts at around $2499. Plus, you’ll have to pay for it if you decide to keep the subscription after your trial ends.
Complicated assembly is another potential drawback. I owned a NordicTrack treadmill, which took about two days to assemble. This is also due to my busy work schedule, which could resonate with others who purchase this treadmill. But with this being one of the more advanced models, I recommend researching and putting time aside to effectively set up your treadmill without any issues. It comes with a paper manual, and you can access a virtual manual showing you how to perform each step.

Just an fyi my doctor told me I’m not allowed to eat salt anymore so if you find me angrily eating unsalted beans or potatoes, you can blame her
#apparently my blood pressure is too high#which honestly i think has a lot to do with me having not moved my body very much over the past couple months; on account of one of my body#parts being a very fucked up knee#so to summarise; i have to come back in 6 weeks and if i can’t produce a healthy blood pressure figure i can’t have my birth control#which is fine because approximately -5 people want to fuck me last i checked. but like. helloooooo again level 9/10 period cramps#i didn’t fucking miss you lol#so i’m not allowed to add salt to my food and i have to do exercise. which is going to be interesting with the aforementioned fucked up knee#tbh i’m thinking treadmill… i’ve been thinking about buying one for a while#and i really think i’ll use it a lot because i won’t be as worried about my knee going in my house as i would be if i were out in the world#trying to jog or walk fast#if i’m exercising in my home i know i’m safe; i can listen to my music without worrying about my surroundings#i can set the speed and the incline and stuff too. it just makes sense#plus walking around my town is boring. it has to be said. there are no interesting views or walks to do. it is sooo many endless straight#roads going to places i don’t care to be. the only picturesque place is the church and realistically how many times can i go there?#i’m thinking treadmill because then i won’t be self conscious about my shabby workout clothes or being out of breath#i can probably also read on there lol or play a mobile game or something. and if i fall and hurt my knee i can call a&e from my floor#instead of a random pavement! everybody wins. well. i win but that’s still important to me#anyway if you need me i need to wash this dish which formerly had unsalted beans and unsalted chicken on it. i hate my life#personal

How I lost 13 kgs/ 28lbs in 1 month!! (73-60kg/160-132lbs)
First of all I’d like to say that this will vary from person to person but it was a lot easier to lose weight at a higher SW.
My daily routine:
I would wake up at 6am and get ready for school and leave at 7am. I’d weigh in every 2-3 days and log it on this app which is the cutest ever for tracking WL.
Tumblr media
I’d fast for about 18- 20 hours (starting at midnight). Which would be a lot easier to do at school as I’m not at home so close to my kitchen LOL.
Throughout the day I’d sip on water or black coffee. I highly recommend getting a big water bottle no matter how ridiculous it looks as I found it easier to curb cravings with a whole bunch of water nearby to fill my stomach up.
Chewing gum daily helps to reduce cravings and keep your mouth occupied. It also makes food taste weird once you’re done with it so that prevented me from eating.
As soon as I got home (around 3pm) I’d make myself a cup of coffee and smoke a cigarette (you don’t have to smoke obvi, I’m not promoting in any way) but the coffee would help me stay awake and give me a little energy.
From there id either take a nap or keep myself busy with homework/ projects. If I didn’t have anything to do I’d crochet or practice my Korean or Arabic. Picking up new, easy hobbies helps to keep busy.
I went to the gym at around 6pm where I’d do cardio for 5 days out of the week and rest days on weekends (walking on the treadmill at speed 4.1 at a 5 incline)
At around 8pm I’d have a small meal, usually steamed/ air fried vegetables and some sort of protein. One of my favorite meals was air fried sweet potatoes and an air fried chicken breast where I’d add a bit of salt and pepper.
I’d then shower, organise my school stuff and go to bed at around 10.
To distract myself during times when I was too tired to do work or didn’t want to sleep I’d just be doomscrolling on edblr/ edtwt to mass consume ED media to motivate/ keep me on track to distract myself from binging. After I’d take a nap and I would wake up and not be very hungry and if I was I’d chug a shit-ton of water.
Please note that smoking or vaping does not curb hunger cravings and is a bit of an unnecessary addiction. I smoke just to keep myself occupied for a while and distract myself from food but I 100% don’t recommend starting or using it as I do IF YOU DONT ALREADY DO IT.
That’s all I can think of for now but please feel free to leave requests for any inspo or posts you’d like to see from me!!

Will he be the inspiration you need to continue your new lifestyle?

Tumblr media
“Sis, I love you I do, but the gym life isn’t meant for someone like me.” You panted out.
You weren’t sure why the sudden urge to accompany your best friend to the gym came about. Maybe it was because you were tired of always feeling burned out, sluggish and lazy. Possibly because you seen how fit, and fucking sexy, your best friend was getting after starting her fitness journey a while back. Whatever the reason, it went out the window the moment you set foot inside the gym complex with her and tried, very pathetically, to keep up with the routine she’d developed for herself.
“Fuck this,” you thought, “I’d rather be home eating ice cream while watching Flavor of Love.”
“See, that’s your problem right there. Rather be watching old TV shows and being lazy then getting your sexy on.” She fired back at you making you realize the last thought was actually out loud. You rolled your eyes playfully before glancing back over to her.
Both you and your best friend were on the treadmill walking at an incline with the speed up more that you would have liked. She was barely breaking a sweat, having gotten comfortable on the machine while jamming out to her workout playlist. She had on a two-piece workout set, showing off her toned stomach and big ass. You glanced around the gym, catching a few of the men every now and then peeking over at her, trying to get her attention.
You on the other hand, you were barely making it. Panting like a dog in heat, your workout set you borrowed from her was sweated out, and your puff was starting to frizz out from all the sweating going on in your head. You could only imaged how you may have looked to everyone else inside the gym.
“C’mon Jade, I applaud you for your fitness journey but obviously I’m not ready, I should have at least started off slow so I could get used to it.” You whined out. She snorted out a laugh while throwing you a look.
“Oh no ma’am, I tried to do that for you, but you were the one that said you could keep up.” She said as a matter of fact. All you could do was huff in annoyance at her response, because she was right. You figured anything she could do you would’ve been able to. You assumed it wouldn’t have been that bad, but you quickly seen the lie in that.
“Whatever.” You mumbled as she smiled triumphantly, knowing she won the argument.
“I’m not even tripping,” You began, “I’m about to get my unfit ass off this treadmill and head home, take a shower and be lazy.” You said determined.
“Seriously Y/n? We’ve barely been here for forty-five minutes.” She looked at you with a judgemental look. You promised, no matter how much you might’ve complained, to see it through and finish the workout. But fuck that, Flavor of Love and a tube of ice cream was calling your ass.
“Nah sis, I tap out. And there’s nothing or no one that’s gonna make me change my mi-”
“Uh excuse me miss?”
You heard a deep, baritone voice sound off behind you. Startled, you whipped your head around to tell off the person for interrupting your monologue only to be stopped dead in your tracks with the sight before you.
There stood a man, looking like the epitome of a gym God. You were met with a chiseled face, a smirk etched across his features. Sharp, bold crimson red eyes that stared down at you with a glint of amusement and playfulness. He graced you with his shirt off showing his toned washboard abs, littered with tattoos and sweat cascading down his torso, all the way down to his deep V-line. Gray gym shorts that hung dangerous low off his hips, not missing the way he was flexing his sculptured legs. Along with huge forearms that were decorated with dark line tattoos as well.
In the mist of eye fucking the man, you briefly forgot you were on a moving treadmill, almost busting your ass in front of him and the whole gym. Before making a fool of yourself, he caught you just as you were about to fall off. Wrapping his huge forearms around your waist, securing you in place.
“Woah, you alright ma?” He asked. You looked up to his face, seeing his eyebrows furrow in concern. You also caught the sweat dripping, oh so deliciously off the tip of his nose, resisting the sudden urge to reach up and poke the tip of your tongue out to catch it.
“What the fuck is wrong with me?” You thought to yourself.
You gulped as you stared into deep into his crimson eyes, becoming entranced by them. He shook you lightly to capture your attention again.
“Hey, you sure you good?” He asked again. He wrapped his arms around you tighter while staring back into your eyes waiting on a response.
“Y/n, girl say something.” Your best friend broke the silence. You gasped and looked down, becoming embarrassed by your actions.
“Oh yea, I’m good, thank you for catching me.” You answered timidly.
Being plushed against his chest, you melted like puddy feeling the vibrations coming off from his deep chuckle at your response.
“Good, wouldn’t want a pretty lil’ thing like you hurting herself.” He answered with a smirk.
You looked up at him shocked, making his smirk deepen.
“Maybe being at the gym wasn’t so bad.” You thought.
“I hate to break up this lil’ love session, but we were in the middle of working out. While at least I was, my friend here was getting ready to lea-” Jade started before you cut her off abruptly.
“Oh uh yea, I actually was about to get off the treadmill and head over to start on the stair master.” You found yourself saying, trying to give off the impression you come to the gym all the time. Without having to look back at your best friend you know she was giving you a “Bitch, are you serious” look into the back of your head, so much so it made your scalp start itching.
The man, still with his arms around you, let out a deep laugh this time.
“Is that so ma? ‘Cause from the looks of it, you seem like you was struggling on this treadmill.” He said with a hint of playfulness in his voice. His response caught you off-guard while it made Jade throw her head back, cackling. Caught red handed, you chuckled lightly.
“Was it that obvious?” You asked, not realizing you placed your hands on-top of his forearms while standing comfortably in his embrace, as if it was the most natural thing in the world. He smiled down at your while unconsciously giving you a light squeeze.
“Yea that and your panting, I could hear you over the speakers ma.” He joked causing your to groan in embarrassment. Despite the awkwardness of him catching you in a lie, you both stay in your current position, neither of you moving. Only deepening the stare you both were committed in. Your best friend looked between you and the mysterious man. Dispelling whatever magnetic charm you both had each other captivated in, Jade cleared her through signaling both of you to gaze in her direction.
“Not trying to be rude or anything, but what exactly was your reasoning for coming over?” Jade got straight to the point. Even though she knew the answer to it. Despite your own thoughts over your appearance, you were drop dead gorgeous. From you bra-length natural hair, medium brown complexion, big doe eyes, plush lips and a curvaceous body, Stevie Wonder could even see how fine you were. You just had to get out of your head about your looks. But Jade knew that was easier said that done, otherwise you wouldn’t have forced yourself to accompany her to the gym. However seeing how transfixed you’ve become around this guy, she was more than glad that you did tag along.
“Oh uh right, well I seen how hard of a time she was having with the treadmill, I just wanted to come over and suggest a few pointers.” The man stated. He wasn’t lying, that was part of his reason for coming over. The other part was to introduce himself to you. He noticed you the moment you and your best friend walked inside the gym and was immediately hooked. He knew without a doubt he wasn’t leaving this gym until he at least got your name, and hopefully your number.
“Oh how sweet of you.” Jade said playfully when an idea popped inside of her mind. She threw a cheshire cat smile at the both of you before continuing her statement.
“Seeing that you want to make sure Y/n is doing the workouts correctly, why don’t you guys start coming to the gym together.” She said with a glint in her eyes.
“If motivation is what you want”, Jade thought to herself, he’s definitely all the motivation you need Y/n.”
You whipped your head around almost giving yourself whiplash, looking at your best friend as if she just lost her mind. From the looks of the guy, he took his workouts serious. You barely kept up with Jade, why in the hell did she think you would be able to keep up with him?
You were getting ready to shoot down the idea when he began talking.
“I don’t mind ma, that’s if you’re up to it?” He asked hopeful. He was silently thanking your best friend for being his voluntary wingman in assisting a chance for him to see you again. You turned back to face him, meeting his hopeful stare and small smile, giving you all the push you needed to slowly nod your head yes at the proposal. His smile deepened as he squeezed you once more. Realizing you were still in his arms, his actions caused you to gasp slightly, making Jade chuckle at the interaction.
“Cool, I work out pretty much everyday around eight at night, so whatever day works best for you ma, I’m available.” He stated as he looked down into your light brown, doe eyes. He couldn’t help but image how they would be closed slightly, hooded with lust as he pinned you under him while he thrusted deep ins-
“Sure, uhm how about this Wednesday night? That’ll work best.” You cut off his thoughts with your proposal. Coughing as he blushed from his vivid thoughts, he nodded in acknowledgement. Hell, you could’ve said to meet up on Mars at the eleventh hour to workout, he would’ve made damn sure to make it work just to be around you again.
Sliding his arms from around your waist, you tried to hide the disappointed sigh that escaped from your lips, causing him to smirk lightly.
“Alright ma, that’s a bet. Give me your number and I’ll text you later to make sure you don’t flake on me.” He joked. You rolled your eyes playfully and smacked your teeth, causing him to shoot his eyebrows up in amusement.
“Oh she has a ‘lil attitude problem, I’m gonna have to set that straight.” He thought to himself.
“Boy whatever.” You said as you tried hiding your smile. You reached out your hand, signaling for him to hand over his phone. You typed in your cell number and text yourself so you could go in later and put him into your contact list. Handing him back his phone, he let his hand intertwine with yours longer than it needed to be, sparking an electric jolt to course from your fingertips all the way over your body.
“Cool, I’ll see you Wednesday ma.” He said with a small smile before turning away to walk back to the area he was working out at. You gave a small nod, about to turn back to Jade before realizing you never caught his name. In a hurry you called out to him to grab his attention.
“Hey wait, I never got your name?” You said with a small pout. The action making his dick stir a little in his gray shorts.
He looked you up and down before catching your gaze again with a smirk to his lips.
“Sukuna.” He said with wink and turned to leave.
You stayed hypnotized in the same spot he left you, watching his figure walk away before you heard your best friend behind you.
“See you got your own Flavor of Love right here, didn’t even have to go home for it.”

We Don't Talk About Abdel: the ""Canon"" Gorion's Ward and Why I Hate Him
If you've only played Baldur's Gate 3 you may have heard of Abdel Adrian. The Hero of Baldur's Gate, late Grand Duke, and Bhaalspawn who died, badly.
There is, unfortunately a lot you might not know. Spoilers ahead for the original Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn, and Baldur's Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal. And their shitty novelizations you should not read.
Your choices matter. Allegedly.
There are many ways to handle continuity in a series of choice-heavy RPGs with custom main characters. There's the approach the original Fallout games did, by setting the second installment long enough after the first, that your player character can be vaguely alluded to without much friction. There's the Bioware approach, of uploading your save data from previous games to slightly effect the world in the next one. And then there's the Baldur's Gate series, which splits the difference and makes the worst of both worlds: a century has past and there's no cheeky vagueness to transplant your own player character as the Hero of Baldur's Gate. It is Abdel Adrian's world and we are merely living in it.
I'd argue there's one thing that very clearly separates a Commander Shepherd from an Abdel Adrian, and that's serving a role in a game that lines up with the story being told.
What's the deal with Bhaalspawn?
I'd like to get one thing out of the way first. Bhaalspawn =/= The Dark Urge. I only mention this because I've seen some people assume all Bhaalspawn operate on the "sleeper cell turbo murderer" framework that the DU does. The majority of the first Baldur's Gate game, the player character themself doesn't know they're in any way unusual. You get ominous dream sequences as the story progresses, up until the Big Reveal.
At which point, one of the themes reveals itself: nature versus nurture. Your PC is a 20-something year old young adult who lived inside a walled town, and had their entire support system torn away the second they left. Unless you've chosen to roleplay that way, they may not have ever felt a particular inclination towards violence. This is in stark contrast with Big Bad, your half-brother Sarevok whose upbringing was filled with struggle and violence.
It's even more apparent in Throne of Bhaal, when you're confronted with it outright: what if your places had been switched? Maybe you would've committed even more atrocities than your half-brother.
We now have to talk about the books. Unfortunately. Canonically the novelization of Baldur's Gate is the origin of Abdel Adrian. He is Philip Athans' brainchild and there's fuck all we can do about it. Unless I get a word of god response from Wizards of the Coast or story beats are directly contradicted in other BG-related media that has come out since, I am treating the events of the books as canon.
A narrative treadmill of a character arc
The game starts out in relatively bog-standard hero's journey fashion. It's morning in Candlekeep, you're leaving home for the very first time with your adoptive dad, and he's been very cagey about the details other than "we need to leave, I'll explain later."
Abdel Adrian, has already left Candlekeep at the start of the novel. He's already in his mid-twenties, and has been traveling the Sword Coast as a sword-for-hire for nearly a decade (presumably cornering the child soldier market). He also really likes killing people, hence his line of work. The big inciting incident with Gorion happens because he sent Abdel a letter about needing to talk, at which point Sarevok shows up, kills Gorion, who tells Abdel to seek out Jahiera and Khalid with his dying breath.
I'll break down my issues with this point by point. -Abdel is very clearly not a level 1 character. Perhaps this is a petty point, but isn't half the fun of this style of fantasy story watching the protagonist grow in skill, until they can eventually face off against the seemingly indomitable Big Bad? Spoiler: Abdel is already at the peak of his Swordsmanship Power™ and we will not see any growth on that front.
-What are the stakes, actually? We went from "everything I know and love has been torn away from me. I'm a level 1 adventurer in a big, dangerous world and cannot go home." to "I'm a big tough fighterman with a penchant for murder who's going to avenge the father figure the book tell-not-shows you I cared about" Like my previous point, we have no baseline, no sense of what the main character has truly lost. I'm much less interested in watching someone start from the middle and fight their way to the top, than seeing someone from rock bottom getting there.
-His Bhaalspawn heritage manifests itself as murdergremlin tendencies. If you've not encountered a player with murdergremlin tendencies while playing a ttrpg, you've almost certainly heard horror stories about them. The guy who loves to escalate encounters into combat, who threatens and maims because "it's what my character would do" and often times view themselves as the main character.
If that sounds exhausting, this is the character whose head we're trapped inside. A guy whose two big motivators are murder and sex, whose external moral compass is his love interest (Jahiera deserved better). AND EVEN THEN by the end of the second book, the only growth he has experienced as a character is "maybe sometimes I won't murder everyone who makes me angry" when he just point-blank refuses to kill the antagonist of BG2. Oh, but not before he had sex with and violently murdered the other main antagonist who was also a woman.
"Okay the books are awful, but why be angry at Abdel?"
Because by virtue of WOTC continuing to use "Abdel Adrian" as THE Hero of Baldur's Gate and a canon character, those books are still canon. SOME elements had to be retconned for being incongruent with the games (did I mention in the first novel Abdel leaves Khalid to die during a fight in the first novel?) but otherwise? I've seen no revisions to his base character. And now every piece of Baldur's Gate media is built on this shitty, rotten foundation.
Are these points somewhat petty? Yes! Either Wizards should've come up with an entirely new stand-in Bhaalspawn to wash the shit taste of those novelizations out of everyone's mouths, or they should've written future material to only vaguely allude to BG 1&2's protagonist. The Bhaalspawn saga was wrapped up perfectly fine in Throne of Bhaal. Either he should've stayed dead with Cyric taking on his domain, or find another way to bring him back. Abdel Adrian having .0001% Bhaal Juice still in his blood and thus turning into The Slayer is a "Somehow, Palpatine returned" way of doing it.
On the off chance anyone is morbidly curious about the terrible novels, me and some pals did a live-reading not too long ago. If this post gets 100 notes I will make a Greatest Hits compilation of terrible moments. Spoiler: one of them includes the "spider in her cleavage" scene.

Take the Moment
Chapter Two of There’s Nothing Like This
Series Masterlist
Pairing: Jamie Tartt x fem!footballer!reader
Warnings: cursing
Word Count: 2.3k
Author’s Note: guys seriously there’s more Jamie coming up I swear
Tumblr media
The dressing room was a thriving ecosystem. It was always buzzing with energy and conversations, about weekend plans and workout routines and families and fears and new purchases. By the end of the second week, you knew who kept the best snacks in their locker, who had emergency toiletries, and who’s locker seemed void of anything remarkable, whether it was driven by fear or lack of desire you weren’t sure.
Walking into the dressing room was like passing through a wall of noise, like being enveloped in the warmth of your teammates. Stepping inside the dressing room was like coming inside after spending all day out in the cold, like nothing bad could ever happen to you.
Despite how early it was, despite the fact that you still felt half-asleep, your teammates were chattering away, loud enough for you to be able to hear bits and pieces of what everyone was saying.
“It was the grossest thing I’ve ever experienced,” you can hear someone saying, causing whoever was next to them to erupt into giggles. You couldn’t help but to smile to yourself, the love you have for your teammates doing wonders to relieve the built-up stress from the press conference last night. You’d gone home and replayed every moment over and over again, tormenting yourself until your brain couldn’t take it and you finally fell asleep.
Practice was the perfect remedy to your stress, giving you something else you needed to focus on completely so you couldn’t worry about anything else. That had always been one of your favorite aspects of the sport, the fact that while you were playing you weren’t able to think about anything but the game was what had made you stick with soccer out of all the activities you did as a young kid.
Now, though, because you were a professional there was an added layer of stress to every practice, every extra second you spent training. Still, a long day of training was the perfect thing to make you forget all about the disastrous press conference. After the rest of your team had gone home to rest before your first match, you stayed behind to work on your stamina on a treadmill as the men’s team took the field.
Sometimes you worried you were working yourself into the ground, but there was a part of your brain that wouldn’t stop pushing you to do more work, to push yourself even farther so you could prove yourself to everyone who had ever doubted you. Even though your muscles were screaming and you could feel your ankle start to swell and pulse, you increased the speed and the incline on the treadmill, telling yourself that you’d go home when the men’s team ended practice.
By the time they’re finished and you finally allow yourself to clean up and go home, you’re dripping in sweat and you were a little worried you wouldn’t be able to walk. You knew some of the girls were getting together to hype themselves up before your first match, but your evening would be spent recovering, alternating between an ice bath and heating pads in the hopes that you’d be in top shape for your first match and your debut as captain.
As you’re leaving the dressing room, dreaming about a large dinner and elevating your foot, you find Jamie waiting for you, leaning against the wall across from the door to the dressing room.
“Hey, Jamie,” you greet him with a wave and a quick smile before you’re continuing on your way, only able to think about how wonderful it’ll feel to finally lay down.
“Oh, hey,” he responds, and you miss the way he fumbles to put his phone in his pocket and catch up with you, walking in step as you exit the building. “I was just thinking how you haven’t been in Richmond long, and you’ve been so busy here with practice and all and maybe I could show you around, if you wanted?”
He’s cute, in an awkward, fumbling kind of way. Never in a million years would you have thought to describe Jamie Tartt as awkward, fumbling, or cute, but you suppose there’s a first time for everything. You wonder just how much he’s changed in the past few years, because the Jamie standing before you, fiddling with his hands, is not the Jamie you remember seeing in pictures and articles and in reality television shows.
“That’s really sweet, Jamie,” and you can see how he tries to hide a smile and it makes your heart melt a little, though you’d never admit that to anyone, “but I have plans with my bed and an ice bath tonight.”
“Oh, shit, you guys have a game tomorrow,” he looks beyond embarrassed that he hadn’t remembered or that no one had told him, “well, have fun with your ice bath.”
He turns to go, and your heart breaks the way it would seeing a puppy dumped on the side of the road, so you can’t help but shout out after him, “Maybe another time?” and you’re rewarded with the brightest smile you’ve ever seen and your chest feels warm in a way that makes you concerned for your health.
Spending your evening alone, soaking in an ice bath and eating dinner by yourself, was as exciting as it sounded. Even though it was a little boring, it was the perfect way to get you in the headspace you needed to be in for your very first match for Richmond. By the time you crawled into bed, your belly was full, your muscles felt as relaxed as possible, and you fell into a deep sleep almost immediately.
The only interesting part of your night was the dream you had where you’d thought you were getting married to Mackie and you made it all the way down the aisle before you realized you were actually marrying Jamie.
It rattled you, probably more than it should have, but you tried your best to just brush it off and go about your pre-match routine. Nerves always made it difficult for you to eat, so you settle for a light breakfast and pack plenty of snacks into your bag. Mackie comes to pick you up the way she always does, and you decide not to tell her about your dream, knowing she’d tease you relentlessly and that was the last thing you needed before a match.
Your morning only got weirder when you and Mackie entered the dressing room and it was practically silent, all of the girls huddled around something in the middle of the room. Pushing yourself into the center of the group, you noticed Elena holding a newspaper, a bold Richmond’s Women’s Team on the cover with Trent Crimm’s name on the by-line.
…a fierce group of players…
… champions in the making…
… led by a determined, slightly dangerous captain…
… all they need is belief.
It was impossible not to feel like you’re walking on air after reading that article, especially with the way Trent had picked you out of the group to mention you by name. That article was the perfect little boost you needed to head into your first match after how incredibly strange your morning was, wiping all thoughts of your weird dream away from your mind.
Walking out onto the pitch, you’re determined you can beat West Ham.
By half-time, you’re down 1-0, and you can feel the bleakness radiating off everyone in the dressing room. Roy’s trying to make an inspirational speech, trying to get you guys ready to go for the second half, but he’s floundering and everyone can tell he’s uncomfortable. As much as he believes in the team, he’s not known for being gentle with his support.
“Can I…” you ask, starting to stand from where you’d slumped yourself onto the bench by your locker. Roy nods, looking beyond relieved, so you make your way to the front of the room and take a deep breath. Despite your hatred for public speaking, you know this is something you need to do, not for yourself but for your team.
“We’re losing,” you start, and you can tell by everyone’s expressions that this isn’t what they want to hear so you go on, “we gave up an easy goal in the last five minutes, and I know we can do better. I know we can fucking win this, if we beat the boys, we can beat fucking West Ham.”
The energy’s starting to increase, you can see some of your teammates start to smile for the first time since you stepped foot onto the pitch at the beginning of the match, but you’re not done yet.
“Amelia, I’m only saying this because I love you and I think you’re amazing, but you’re playing like shit. I’m saying this because I know you can do better, I’ve seen you do better.”
You hate the way her face falls, looking like she’s hoping the floor opens up and swallows her but you need to say this, need her to believe in herself the way you believe in her, so you keep talking despite the pit in your chest.
“And I know this is your first professional match ever and that this shit is scary,” you go on, “but none of us expect perfection. We just want you to leave it all on the pitch and be the monster we know you can be.”
Despite her look of despair when you’d called her out, she’s smiling at you now and you can’t help but to smile back at her. “I believe in you, Baby,” you finish, and just mentioning her nickname seemed to make everyone perk up even more, reminding them of how great of a team you make.
“Let’s go out there and win this fucking thing,” Roy adds, and the team screams like you’re heading into battle as you head back onto the pitch to finish out the match. As you pass, you give Amelia’s shoulder a squeeze just so she knows everything you said came from a place of love and deep respect for her. The energy heading back onto the pitch is ten times more intense than when you’d headed out for the first half, and you’re more than confident in your team.
After the match, heading back to the dressing room was a goddamn party.
You’d won 2-1, with Elena scoring a goal in extra time to secure your first win by the skin of your teeth. Back in the dressing room, there’s champagne and laughter and Keeley and Rebecca screaming their faces off. You all join in, jumping up and down as if your joy is too strong to be contained inside your body. You feel sore all over and you know you'll have plenty of new bruises tomorrow, but all of that is overshadowed by how giddy, how light you feel.
You’re on the top of the world and there’s nothing that could bring you down.
The celebration is starting to get a little too rambunctious when there’s a knock on the door, revealing the entire men’s team. They’re wearing Richmond merch, but it’s your merch, shirts and hats and kits and scarves they’ve bought to support you at your first match. Really, you’re surprised you’re not sobbing with how emotional you feel, leaving the pitch to the roaring of the fans and seeing everyone as excited for your win as you are.
The boys file in, most of them heading for the alcohol while a few go find certain players, like the way Colin makes a beeline for Mackie. Jamie, though, heads straight for you and it makes you feel floaty, lightheaded in a way you weren’t before so you just chalk it up to the alcohol that’s now coursing through your veins.
When you notice your last name plastered on the back of Jamie’s kit, you can’t help the flood of laughter that bursts out of you. Seeing your reaction, a smile blooms on Jamie's face and his cheeks look a little redder than before, but you assume it’s due to the heat of the dressing room and the champagne, ignoring the fact that Jamie hasn’t drunk any.
“You just can’t let go of the number nine, can you?” You tease, grinning back at him as he shrugs with a shy sort of smile that seems so out of place with his typically confident personality. Your little moment is cut short, though, as Sam comes over to you with a beaming smile.
“You were fantastic, truly,” he says, already knowing you were going to try and downplay your skills, “I wasn’t even on the pitch and I was a little scared of you.” You laugh, unable to contain yourself in the way you’d normally try to because it really did feel amazing starting the season on a high note, starting the team on a win.
“Ah, I interrupted something,” Sam says with a knowing smile as his eyes dart between you and Jamie, “I’ll go congratulate the rest of the team.” He sends you a wink before he disappears off into the chaos of the celebration and you’re left reeling. You turn to Jamie to make a comment about how strange that was only to find him staring intently at his shoes.
So, it was back to being the strangest day of your life.
“Maybe, if you’re free tomorrow, I can take you up on your offer to show me around Richmond?” You ask, trying to break the awkwardness that had settled over your little corner of the room.
“Yeah? Perfect. Great. Cool,” Jamie says, and before you can say anything else Mackie and Elena are coming over to drag you to the middle of the party, and as much as you’d like to keep talking with Jamie, it feels good to be celebrated.
Hopefully it’s a feeling you get used to at Richmond.

Treadmill Cover: Benefits of Using One for Your Treadmill
Investing in a treadmill cover offers several advantages that can enhance the performance, longevity, and maintenance of your treadmill. Here’s why using a treadmill cover is beneficial:
1. Protection from Dust and Debris
A treadmill cover provides a protective barrier against dust, dirt, pet hair, and other debris that can accumulate on the treadmill's surface and components. This helps keep the treadmill clean between uses and reduces the frequency of thorough cleaning and maintenance.
2. Prevention of Moisture Damage
Moisture can be detrimental to the electronic components and mechanical parts of a treadmill. A cover helps shield the treadmill from moisture build up, whether from sweat during workouts or humid conditions in the environment. This protection helps prevent rusting, corrosion, and electrical malfunctions over time.
3. Reduced Wear and Tear
By keeping dust and moisture at bay, a treadmill cover minimizes wear and tear on the treadmill's belt, motor, and other mechanical parts. This prolongs the lifespan of the equipment and reduces the frequency of repairs or replacements, saving you time and money in the long run.
4. Enhanced Safety
Covering your treadmill when not in use can contribute to safety, especially in households with children or pets. It prevents accidental activation of the treadmill and reduces the risk of small objects getting caught in the moving parts. This promotes a safer environment for everyone in your home.
5. Maintaining Aesthetic Appeal
A treadmill cover helps maintain the aesthetic appeal of your fitness space by keeping the treadmill clean and free of dust. It presents a tidy appearance and preserves the overall condition of the treadmill, enhancing the visual appeal of your home gym or workout area.
6. Convenience in Storage
Many treadmill covers are designed to be lightweight and easy to use, allowing for hassle-free installation and removal. They fold or roll up compactly when not in use, making storage convenient and ensuring the cover is readily accessible whenever needed.
Conclusion
Using a treadmill cover offers multiple benefits, including protection from dust and debris, prevention of moisture damage, reduced wear and tear, enhanced safety, maintenance of aesthetic appeal, and convenience in storage. Investing in a quality cover for your treadmill helps preserve its condition, extend its lifespan, and maintain a clean and safe workout environment in your home.

going to the gym with college!abby and wearing one of those pretty pastel colored workout sets that hug your ass <3 she’d lose her mind
ur so right nonnie. so i work out at home bc the gym is scary, but honestly the buff mascs are at the gym (shocking) so i might just consider it.
thinking abt wearing those cute lil shorts w/ the cross-over waist n a tight lil sports bra (or t-shirt, whichever ur more comfortable with) n spending a lot of time on the treadmill bc u didn't feel like using weights or whatever. ur listening to music, bopping ur lil head, alternating speeds n inclines n the like and walking to the beat of the music. overall, great time.
n ur waiting for abby, who is currently doing leg presses while she waits for a squat rack to open (is that what they're called? i think that's what they're called). here's the thing. she is trying. so hard. not to look at you. bc if she does she will cut this session short just to get u home n eat u out, post gym, all sweaty. i know I've seen someone post about abby preferring to eat u out post-gym n if i find it I'll reblog it, but i think that person is so correct. she likes u sweaty, that is her right as a girl's girl. n that urge is made so much worse when she sees u on the treadmill, walking n looking all pretty n hers.
AND THEN. u slow down the speed on the machine so u can cool down, n ur vibing to like ,,, woman or sad girlz luv money n ur swaying ur hips n mouthing the lyrics n holy shit she wants u so bad and there are gross straight gym bros staring at u in a not nice way n abby is literally jumping off the machine, wiping it down hella fast n running over to u, glaring at the men all the while bc u are Hers. n ur like 'already?' looking all innocent and sweet and abby is like 'yeah bb, let's go home' and her smile is so chill but she Knows she is about to pull you into the locker room, into an unoccupied shower stall and eat u out before hauling ass back to the apartment and making u bounce on her strap and –
who said that. n e wayz, i want some of those cross-over shorts n the flare leggings so so bad they're so cute
