I'm really scared to say this out loud since I feel that I will be crucified for this opinion...but, I really wish people would post more about their MCs as their own person/character than simply being a love interest to the NPCs. Sure yeah, NPCs like Seb and Omi are insanely popular that everyone wants a piece of them but I found it super duper frustrating to come across posts of an MC I found cute but said MC's existence is practically defined as being a NPC's love interest. Give me more screenshots/artworks/fics/posts of your MC being the absolute menace to the Highlands. Show me your MCs in action shot like the powerful untempered legend they would have become with years, experience and practice. Let me read your MC incorrect quotes showing their life at Hogwarts. Show me their fashion preference and why they prefer those. What do they do when visiting Hogsmeade (that is not a date with a NPC)? They can't be 24/7 joint to the hips with the NPCs no? Feed me word vomit/short snippets of your MC. Tell me their personality/character studies/hobby/zodiac sign/history that has no relation what so ever to any NPC.

To me, HL giving us all a 'blank slate MC' has provided us unlimited paths to develop an interesting character unique to the player controlling them. No MC should ever be the same. They could be the good ol' honourably wholesome one. They could be the prequel to a Dark Lord of their time. Or they could be on the fence, a dark magic user who use the magic simply because they have to/survival sake. Not even the sky could be our limit to create our MC and showcase them to the world like the precious, unique darlings each of them actually are.

I just wish more MC I found while scrolling could be anything else that is not Sebastian/Ominis/Garreth/Amit's girl, really.

It just frustrates me that almost all posts I came across is mainly simping for the NPCs. I appreciate all those posts, but I crave more posts of your MC as their own person. Show me your MC. Let me simp for them. Let me get to know them as their own character. Let me internally ship your MC with mine because your MC is so interesting on their own, I want them in my household. Your MC is the protagonist, the literal MAIN CHARACTER.

Their existence should not be defined by their popular love interest.

I'm sorry but I'm practically sobbing inside wishing for more MC appreciation blogs. There's so little of you unhinged creative fuckers who is passionate about your MCs more than the NPCs. I want more pretty and powerful MCs to ship with my Murder Children but most of the MCs out there has no personality other than being a NPC's love interest. 😭😭

Ominis’ Congenital Blindness

I have a hot take/head canon for Ominis’ being blind. And I’ve been dying to share this out and see what y’all think.

I grew up with a blind teacher throughout elementary school. He was born with congenital blindness, which is what Ominis has because he was born blind. He described that he could see very blurry figures of people when they moved and some color depending on how bright his surround was . I remember he said the only way he would see nothing but black/nothing at all is if he had no eyes. Because the eye balls are made to sense light and the brain translates that light to images and color.

So I’m just saying it would be nice to see more detail’s like that within the fandom because blindness doesn’t always mean they can’t sense the shifting of light or if it’s day or night time.

I could also be completely crazy or way too invested in details for no reason…

I read this article by Screenrant about the Hogwarts Legacy characters and what their probable zodiac signs are based on their personalities in the game.

I never thought about Ominis being a Capricorn but it sorta makes sense. Sebastian, on the other hand, strikes me more as a Scorpio.

How do you think the boys would react upon hearing that Leander got so frustrated with MC turning him down (yet again) and cast the eat slugs curse at her?

My opinions for this definitely change with my mood, and I'm absolutely projecting on MC here. I put Ominis, Sebastian, and Garreth and kept it p gender neutral

Ominis:

His initial reaction to hearing about the whole incident was to make sure MC was okay. Eat Slugs does go away after awhile, but it's uncomfortable, and Ominis also can't stand that sort of incel behaviour tbh.

He's mad and wants to defend them, but he trusts MC to do what they need to and he will be there for whatever they choose to do.

if Ominis was present at the time of the hex he would prevent MC from maiming and/or killing Leander. MC can beat him up and hospitalize him, but NO cut off limbs and no murder!

Ominis would show up to the hospital wing with a package of the best-selling fudge from Honeydukes to visit Leander while he lay in his recovery bed from the absolute shit-kicking that MC gave him.

Like, MC would not stand for that disrespect and MC is the superior duelist and would pulverize his ass even though they're burping up slugs.

Leander would be so surprised to see him as Ominis sat down beside the bed and opened up the box of fudge.

Ominis would ask how he's feeling, before taking a bite out of the fudge and setting it back in the box.

Leander tells him he's still in pain, MC really kicked his ass.

Ominis offers his most insincere condolences and picks up another piece of fudge and takes a bite out of it before putting it back.

Nurse Blainey comes by, Ominis offers her a piece of fudge. She takes one and leaves.

Not once does he offer Leander a piece of fudge, he just keeps taking bites out of individual pieces and putting them back until he's taken a bite out of all of them while making barbed quips to Leander.

Ominis genuinely just showed up to gloat over Leander's pain, eat some of his favourite fudge in his face, and then leave to rub some salt in the wound.

It works, with Leander genuinely upset at being insulted and the fudge being thrown out.

Honestly it's very sexy of Ominis to kick a man while he's down.

Sebastian:

Sebastian would want to immediately track down Leander and throw him off the Astronomy tower he's killed once what does one more body really mean?

Despite his blood boiling furiously, Sebastian goes to find MC and make sure they're alright first.

It surprises MC who was certain Leander was a dead man walking.

He stays with them while the hex runs its course, and then when MC finally stops throwing up slugs he returns them safely to their common room and goes on the hunt.

Leander, unfortunately, had good enough sense to anticipate Sebastian. He's made a point to remain in well-populated areas, in his common room, or the professors were keeping him quite busy in detention for hexing MC.

So, Sebastian plays Madame Scribner like a fucking fiddle and earns his way into detention himself.

This risk ends up working out, when Leander and Sebastian are assigned to clean the trophy room together.

Leander shakes in his boots the entire time, anticipating Sebastian's inevitable murder attempt.

It's the longest 2 hours of his life. Sebastian just keeps staring at him, but since Mr. Moon sticks around there's nothing he can do.

Their detention ends, and just as Moon leaves Sebastian slams Leander against the wall with his wand at Leander's throat.

He threatens Leander, letting him know that if he so much as looks at MC from now on he'll have to answer to Sebastian.

Sebastian promised MC he wouldn't physically harm Leander, who just wanted to put the entire event behind them. Deep down

Sebastian knew that MC could defend themselves, but he liked being protective of them.

and then like 3 weeks later MC is paired with Leander for a class project and Leander has a crisis over it lmao

Garreth:

He'd just beat the shit out of Leander. Like, with his fists.

Garreth's got siblings, the man can throw a punch (source: i have sibling).

Garreth's a really sweet guy, but even warm and friendly people can reach their limit. Garreth's limit just so happens to be MC getting hurt in some sort of way.

He's unbelievably pissed that it was his friend and fellow Gryffindor who happened to cast the hex - and for Leander to have cast it because he was rejected by someone who had repeatedly told him they weren't interested? Mmmmmmm no thank you sir.

Garreth doesn't make Leander wait for anything, he doesn't toy with him, he just kicks the hell out of him and tells him to smarten up.

It's a short and sweet way of dealing with it, and honestly very on brand for both stereotypical boys and Gryffindors.

Quick, easy, and done. Leander ends up apologizing to MC and swears he won't bother them like that anymore.

He seems genuinely remorseful, but MC does avoid him for quite a long time. If he wants to prove himself, he's got to do it slowly.

Leander absolutely learned his lesson.

Garreth can hit really hard.

MC doesn't really mind Garreth's reaction, in fact they find it pretty amusing to find Leander with a black eye the next day.

#MCtober2024 - Week 3 Amortentia Potion pt 1

Based on @lamieboo's #MCtober2024 event (click on #MCtober for more info).

Amortentia Potion To Sebastian, Iñaki smells like the following:

1: Freshly Brewed Coffee/ Hot Chocolate

Iñaki is known to drink some coffee -or as she likes to say it- café con leche in the morning. Not so much because of her American culture and using it to wake her up like her British peers like to assume, but more so because of her Latino upbringing. Her Latino-ness shows more when she is drinking coffee at night with a small roll of bread and cheese to eat. No one knows how she can sleep at night after drinking coffee in the evening. Sebastian is rather shock to hear she's been drinking coffee since she was a toddler. If Iñaki isn't drinking café con leche, she is mostly likely enjoying a cold Scottish morning or evening with chocolate caliente - not the American style of coco powder and hot milk, but from a chocolate tablet she brought from her parents' homeland and hot water.

When she is drink either café con leche or chocolate caliente it's one of the few times Sebastian catches Iñaki being still, content and happy at Hogwarts. The hot beverages' scents is something that makes Sebastian think of her. 2. Mellowsweet

If no one has what is the canon smell of mellowsweet, I would like to imagine it smells like a sweet citrus mint with a dash of chamomile...like a chamomile mojito. Iñaki is always up doing Merlin trials and sometimes drags Sebastian with her, so she always carries mellowsweet around with her. It's one of the smells Sebastian always associates Iñaki with since she always has it on her. Iñaki sometimes likes to chew on it for the minty citrus taste it leaves in her mouth so after the two do have their first kiss at some point in the future, all Sebastian could taste is mellowsweet.

3. The Beach/Sea Air

Iñaki misses home, especially the beaches she went to on Long Island. Often Sebastian would find her hanging out in the beach portion of the vivarium in the Room of Requirements and would sit next to her, just listening to the waves. Or she would ask Sebastian if he wanted to go to the coastal beach in Scotland, despite how cold it can get. The beach always makes her feel like at home and it's where she would spill whatever is bothering her or her life secrets to him without any pushing. There's just something about the beach that relaxes her. It's also where she is the most happiest whenever she feels down. Sometimes the two would just sit in the vivarium beach, listening to the waves splash, the seagulls flying and wheeling as they watch the sunset (this is one memory both would later use for their patronus - moreso Sebastian than Iñaki). The one constant all beaches have is the salty tangy air that reminds Sebastian of Iñaki

I've seen some people online talking about how Hogwarts legacy was snuffed for not having a single nomination in game of the year. And I'm going to put my two cents in. Personally, it felt like a letdown amazing game. We got some good characters interesting storylines. But I was at least hoping for quidditch . And even more I was hoping the game would be at least over 2 or 3 years of Hogwarts and I think I would have preferred that. Especially with how what we did in one year feels like should have taken over a single school year and I think it would have been much more interesting to have it. And adding a bit more unique spells. Maybe not as useful but still unique and interesting spells that can be used. Plus I think it would be really interesting if it was over 2 or 3 years of the school and how that would altar storylines like Sebastian how at the start he's not too worried but still worried about a sister and how she's getting worse but by the second or third year she's taking a much bigger turn and he's getting more and more desperate. Would have been a very interesting plot line to go down. Well yes, it's a good game but I feel like one of the big reasons it got so popular when it did was because it looked amazing. Even now we don't have too many games that look that good on that level. We have of course cyberpunk and ark the glitchy mess it is but ark. So when new games come out with this level of graphics everyone gets excited. But in this case, the mediocre story kind of just lowered the tear

Hi it's Flip. My credentials are I'm a train freak and have an unhealthy obsession with locomotion upon rails using steam power. This is thanks to my parents seeing me enjoy Thomas the Tank Engine and, as such, getting me so much Thomas the Tank Engine merchandise and wooden trains, that I still do model railroading to this day, albeit, I don't have a train table. Anyways, credentials to the side, let's talk about the Hogwarts Express.

JK Rowling merely described the train as a "Red Steam Engine" or something along those lines. I don't care enough to buy a book and read it again. Which, for all intents and purposes, is fine. There are red steam engines. Seeing a magic school that abhors technology and "muggle tech" or whatever they call it, it makes sense that they would use an outdated train rather than a new diesel or something in the 1990s. Then the movies occured, and the Hogwarts Express was solidified as a 4-6-0 hall class locomotive. Amazing design, a really pretty train. Here's an one in Green G&W livery.

A curious thing to note about the Hall Class is that the Hall Classes began production in 1928 and continued until 1943. Wow! That's a relatively old engine for that time! It's about a 50-70 year old engine, right?

WRONG

According to some dumb stuff that JK Rowling wrote for Universal's Wizarding World, The Hogwarts Express was stolen in 1830 and a train station was constructed in Hogsmeade overnight. Already, we can see a glaring issue:

WHAT OH OKAY SO TIME TRAVELING MAGIC MUST HAVE BEEN USED, RIGHT?

Nope.

ACCORDING TO THE ILLUSTRIOUS AND OBVIOJSLY WELL INFORMED AUTHOR (can you feel my dripping sarcasm?), THE ONLY MAGIC USED WAS MEMORY CHARMS AND CONCEALMENT CHARMS.

Oh. Awesome. So you're telling me, that in 1830, wizards, who abhor muggle technology, decided to steal a revolutionary new type of steam locomotive that wouldn't be developed for 98 years and made everyone who could create more forget it ever existed? Really cool move.

In the opening of the game, Hogwarts Legacy, set in 1890s (I had to dig deep into the internet for this because I refuse to play the game), we get a panoramic shot of Hogsmeade Station, The Hogwarts Express, and Hogwarts Castle. Y'all ready to hear this?

It is the same train from the movies..

Y'all. I could continue talking about the differentiation of rail size. I could talk about the anachronistic nature of the rail cars. I could continue on and about that. But it would be dumb to do so, because I'm just going to be complaining about something people will hand wave.

That's the problem: people are more than willing to hand wave the numerous anachronisms in Harry Potter because they remember reading the books as a child. They read the books, it shaped them for who they were. That's dumb.

I loved Thomas the Tank Engine as a kid, and one of the things that made me love it is the author paid attention to history and actually tailored the talking trains to have historical precedence. The trains would correspond to the time period they came from. You wouldn't see a train from 1850 having a wrong wheel configuration.

JK Rowling has gotten away with a lot. She's gotten away with wrong train types, she's gotten away with her racism, and people are even making excuses for her transphobia. When will it end? When will enough be enough? It started with trains, but will it end with trans?

Don't get Hogwarts Legacy.
