to me Henry and Hans' relationship is the real emotional core of both games. loss and grief and revenge are things that drive and push but ultimately they are things that come from the past. it's their friendship/love that is the thing of the future and it heals and gives hope. I hope it makes sense what I'm trying to say.

also it matters that Hans is weaved fully into the plot of both games, he's not some optional gay dude you can bang, he's there and he's important.

and you cannot tell me Henry does the things he does out of sense of duty. he deeply cares for Hans either way. you might not choose to romance and might not even think about it at all, sure, but the potential for it is still there whether you want it or not. as well all the chemistry that makes the romance work so well.

them being friends with a romantic suggestion and being emotionally invested in each other is just the base the game provides. and the player only chooses to explore the romantic option further (or not). but Henry isn't the player's avatar, he's a very well-written and fully realized person.

you may guide him and push him towards certain things but you don't get to choose whether he cares about Hans or not. he fucking does and that's that.

for as much as we talk about König eating like a vacuum and putting away calories like nothing, I think we slack on how hungry Kim “Horangi” Hong-jin gets too

Horangi isn’t as ravenous as the Colonel, that said he can still eat an impressive amount. growing up in Korea, some of his favorite memories are definitely big family meals where everyone shares and mix-and-matches dishes. he’d have unspoken contests with his older sister over who could eat the most, they were pretty well-matched. Horangi misses sharing meals with his family, but he’ll happily take his team out for a good dinner

Horangi is a big fan of meat - this man drools a little just thinking about a nice piece of protein. not to break your immersion, but there’s a Korean barbecue near me and their meat portions are fantastic - not too small, just the right amount for a handful of people and it leaves you ordering more because it’s marinated so good. you grill everything at the table, have a good laugh and meal with friends and family, that is something Horangi adores. kicking back with good company and food. not to project, but I can definitely see Horangi being huge on pork belly. not a lot of people can out-eat König, so color König shocked the first time he sees Horangi go nuts at a barbecue

Horangi, in my heart, doesn’t drink much casually - but put him at a table with his friends and colleagues? they’re carrying his ass out “Horangi is a very responsible drinker!”, we all say. he can’t help it, between the banter, laughter, and delicious food… so what if the drinks keep flowing? in contrast to his tough appearance and extremely deep voice, he’s a fan of sweeter drinks - nothing that would make your nose scrunch, just a light sweetness. he likes the contrast of having a slightly fruity, light drink with heavy proteins and side dishes

he’s got a second stomach for dessert, I promise you that. while he does enjoy heavier desserts that are rich and thick, he’d prefer something light. not to break your immersion again, but that Korean barbecue I mentioned? oh my god, they have the best bingsu - I think Horangi would love theirs. there’s one topped with fresh cut mangos and strawberry, I can see that being right up Horangi’s alley, just a nice, refreshing end to a meal
